  murder. Yes, the murder, not the death,

  not the self unaliving the murder of Ellen Ray Greenberg,

  the 27 year old first grade teacher at Juniata Park Academy

  in Philadelphia. She was found dead at
• 1:44
  approximately 6:40 PM. I'm going to give me the air

  quote. She was found dead at

  approximately 6:40 PM on January 26th, 2011.

  That means we are just 12 days away from the 15th anniversary
• 2:01
  of the murder of Ellen Greenberg.

  The murder. I can't stress that enough.

  Not the death of, not the self unaliving of the murder of Ellen
• 2:14
  Greenberg. It's been almost 15 years now.

  Let me give you a little background on this.

  OK, Ellen was a highly educated. She had a bachelor's degree and
• 2:26
  two master's degrees teacher. She was living with her live in
• 2:32
  boyfriend man named Sam Goldberg in a in an apartment in Manayunk
• 2:39
  in the Manayunk neighborhood of Philadelphia.
• 2:42
  It's a nice place. Do I have AI guess I don't have
• 2:46
  the video of the I took some video of the apartment complex,
• 2:50
  but it was a nice place. OK, Sam is a this is just my
• 2:58
  characterization. I'm just going to say it right.

  Sam, to me, I think all the evidence shows a spoiled rich
• 3:07
  kid who was never told no, who always got his way.

  This is, of course, Monday morning morning quarterbacking.

  I don't think Ellen saw that. I think Ellen saw a young man

  who was successful in his endeavors.

  He had won an Emmy Award by the time they were living together,
• 3:31
  coming from a good home, a loving home, and certainly a
• 3:37
  little bit higher. So on the socioeconomic ladder,
• 3:42
  it was he was a good catch, But I think he was kind of a spoiled
• 3:46
  rotten kid who always got his way.

  I have heard numerous stories from numerous sources, including
• 3:53
  those closest to him, that he just was kind of the kid who
• 3:56
  could get away with anything. Mommy, daddy kind of fixed it.

  Anywho, they're living together, they're engaged.

  They are set to be married. Fact she had sent out the save
• 4:11
  the dates they had. She had gotten her wedding
• 4:14
  dress, a beautiful Vera Wing wedding dress.

  Everything was set. She was though starting to
• 4:23
  exhibit signs of stress. She was anxious.
• 4:28
  She was, this is the kind of girl who, I should say young
• 4:32
  woman, she was 27. But I always kind of look at
• 4:36
  Ellen as a kind of a daughter figure, right?
• 4:39
  I always, I always come to it from a very paternal
• 4:43
  perspective. But she was kind of young woman
• 4:45
  who was in constant contact with her parents.
• 4:49
  She was living in Philadelphia, her parents, she was raised in
• 4:52
  Harrisburg. That's where her parents lived.
• 4:54
  And she asked if she could come home.
• 4:58
  Now worried that she might lose her job, worried about
• 5:01
  professional repercussions, her parents made a deal with her
• 5:04
  that maybe instead of running away from whatever is bothering
• 5:08
  you, maybe we find you a good therapist.
• 5:11
  And that's what they did. She started going to a
• 5:14
  therapist. This is just a couple weeks
• 5:16
  before she died. Her therapist said no, she was
• 5:20
  not suicidal. Her therapist said that she was
• 5:23
  anxious. She was not depressed.
• 5:26
  She was given some prescriptions.
• 5:29
  They tweaked it and it was working very well.
• 5:32
  Ellen was talking to her folks and talking to other people.
• 5:35
  She was feeling much, much better about things, but she was
• 5:38
  continuing to talk about how work was her main stress in her
• 5:42
  life. OK, on January 26th of 2011, 911
• 5:49
  dispatchers got a call from Mr. Sam Goldberg, who if you guys
• 5:55
  have not heard this 911 call, in my opinion it is maybe the
• 6:02
  worst, maybe the worst acting job ever.
• 6:08
  Now I, I'm, I'm just going to give you a quick plug.

  This feels like a like self-serving, but I'm telling
• 6:14

  come to the apartment building where they find Ellen Greenberg

  dead on the kitchen floor, kind of with her head slightly

  propped up against the cabinetry.

  The first responders, I understand, at least one first
• 7:09
  responder told police as they were coming in.
• 7:11
  You have a homicide in there. Police did kind of a cursory
• 7:17
  investigation. I I think that's fair to say,
• 7:20
  it's my opinion, but I think it's fair to say they did a
• 7:23
  cursory investigation. They see a girl who's dead on
• 7:25
  the floor. She has a knife coming out of
• 7:27
  her chest and, and they think, oh, she did this to herself.
• 7:34
  There was a medical examiner's investigator who investigated
• 7:39
  the scene and found it looked like hesitation wounds.
• 7:44
  But when her body was transferred to the medical
• 7:48
  examiner's office that night and then the next day there was an
• 7:53
  examination by Doctor Marlon Osborne, he found that there
• 7:59
  were 20 stab wounds, half of which were to the back of
• 8:03
  Ellen's head and neck. He rightly called this a
• 8:08
  homicide. Then after pressure from what
• 8:15
  the Greenbergs allege was pressure from the police, the
• 8:20
  medical, I'm sorry, the and the district attorney's office,
• 8:24
  Doctor Osborne changed his manner of death from homicide to
• 8:27
  suicide, which is the dumbest thing.
• 8:29
  I mean, look at this, look at this graphic.

  This is this is something that was created by the Greenbergs.

  This causes Josh and Sandy Greenberg, Ellen's parents, to

  fight with the city of Philadelphia ever since.

  And there was a little ray of hope last February in

  Philadelphia, where one of their lawsuits was coming to a head
• 9:32
  and we all gathered for the trial.

  I traveled myself to Philadelphia.
• 9:37
  So many others that I really love and admire, including Joel
• 9:41
  Waldman from Surviving the Survivor.

  He was there. The documentary series crew was
• 9:47
  all there. That includes Laura Diamond, the
• 9:49
  most important person in the media in this case.

  I'm, I'm just going to say it. Laura Diamond is the most

  important person in the media in this case.

  Of course, the most important person in this case is Ellen,

  followed closely by Josh and Sandy, who we're looking at
• 10:05
  right now. But in the media.

  Anyway, we all gathered and it was about to go to trial when a

  settlement was struck. Now the night before Doctor
• 10:18
  Osborne wrote, I don't know what it was called with an affidavit
• 10:24
  or of some sort where he said, you know what, I've been wrong
• 10:29
  this whole time. This should not be classified.

  It should be classified as something other than Ellen did
• 10:35
  this to herself. So anyway, that was the ray of
• 10:41
  hope. Now they settled the case for a
• 10:45
  monetary payment and the promise that they that the city would
• 10:49
  expeditiously re review the case to see if they agree with Doctor
• 10:54
  Osborne that this is not Ellen harming herself.

  After going back to court to try to force the city to actually do
• 11:07
  what they already said that they were going to do, the medical
• 11:10
  examiner's office came back saying we agree with the second
• 11:17
  assessment. Ellen did this to herself and
• 11:20
  that just it just guys, it pissed me off, pissed me off,
• 11:24
  pissed a lot of people off. But we shouldn't be surprised at
• 11:28
  this, OK? We should not be surprised.

  This case, man, this case, the city of Philadelphia.

  this is the city that they're living in.

  courthouse in Philadelphia. And we could we were watching as

  the lawyers were starting to horse trade.

  We saw that a that a settlement was about to about to come.

  In fact, Nancy Schwartzman walked up to us and said, you

  know, I need to send my guys. Nancy Schwartzman's the director

  of death and Apt 6O3, the Hulu documentary.

  documentary, who did a terrific job.

  She came up to us and was like, you know, I got to send my guys

  on lunch and Brian was like, I would not do that.

  Because the settlement came and they got it on film is terrific.

  OK. A new twist was uncovered in the

  death investigation that started 15 years ago and has received

  worldwide attention since. Fact there I am already

  tangenting. Joseph Scott Morgan and I

  presented this case at Crime Con UK last year.

  What was that? June, September?

  I don't remember. But we, we reported this case
• 15:23
  and, and it was a keynote and the, IT was the mainstage and
• 15:28
  all, all of, I mean, the room was chock full with just the
• 15:35
  right amount of righteous indignation and just
• 15:38
  upsettedness and, and disbelief in this case anyway, it is it
• 15:44
  has gotten international attention.

  The investigation into the death of 27 year old school teacher
• 15:50
  Ellen Greenberg has been a long road for her family in the city
• 15:53
  of Philadelphia. And now the US Attorney's Office
• 15:57
  for the Eastern Eastern District of Pennsylvania is interested in
• 16:00
  the Ellen Greenberg case, according to several sources.
• 16:05
  The federal government requested documents and information from
• 16:08
  the Philadelphia Police Department and other agencies
• 16:11
  last month, sources told NBC 10. It is unclear how the federal
• 16:18
  government became involved and if and when it will release any
• 16:22
  details about its interest in Ellen Greenberg's death.
• 16:26
  Greenberg was I'm putting air quotes around discovered by her
• 16:31
  fiance in January of 2011 inside their 6th floor apartment in
• 16:36
  Philadelphia's Manayunk neighborhood.
• 16:38
  The 27 year old had 20 stab wounds.
• 16:41
  Now real quick, this is just because I'm a professional
• 16:44
  Quibbler the and Brian is correct.

  That is what the autopsy said. The autopsy report said 20 stab
• 16:55
  wounds. But when it was re examined just
• 16:58
  this year after so much kicking and screaming about it had to go
• 17:03
  back to court again to enforce this this review.

  The medical examiner found more, found more stab wounds than what
• 17:15
  was on Doctor Osborne's report, perhaps the worst report in the
• 17:19
  history of autopsies. The guy, it was a cut and paste
• 17:25
  freaking nightmare of a report and and the new medical examiner
• 17:31
  pointed that out anyway. So I think, I think the number
• 17:35
  is actually 23 now. OK.

  The medical examiner originally ruled her death homicide, but
• 17:41
  later switched it to suicide. It's remained that way ever
• 17:43
  since, But. But this newest development
• 17:45
  provides New Hope for her parents, who insist the justice
• 17:49
  system failed. Failed them.

  Yes. Yes, indeed.

  Did you guys hear me how I just said failed instead of failed?

  That that comes from my childhood growing up in the
• 17:59
  Rocky Mountain West. I still struggle with some of
• 18:02
  these words to pronounce them correctly.

  But anyway, Ellen's parents, along with their team of
• 18:09
  attorneys, have long insisted that the evidence shows the
• 18:12
  teacher was murdered. Yeah, they have waged a years
• 18:16
  long battle with Philadelphia and accused the city of labeling
• 18:19
  her death as a cell phone alive to allegedly cover up a botched
• 18:23
  homicide investigation. And I agree with the Greenbergs.
• 18:26
  And that is indeed what they accused the city of in that
• 18:30
  lawsuit, the culmination of which I just described, that
• 18:35
  there was a coordinated conspiracy to cover up Ellen's
• 18:43
  murder. And I believe that there was.
• 18:46
  I still have hope that there will be an arrest in this case.

  Brian and Emily continue. The family's first real sign of

  progress came in January of 2025, when the original medical

  examiner on the case said in a written sworn statement that

  but I think we received word of that on February 2nd.

  review of Ellen's autopsy. I don't know where that $650,000

  figure is coming from. I think the the official
• 19:49
  settlement was sealed that that that number was sealed.

  Now, I have heard, I have heard numbers between 6:50 and a

  million, but I don't know what the actual number is.

  Maybe Brian has an inside track that I don't have.

  And you know, Josh and Sandy deserve credit because anytime I

  have ever asked them for details like that.

  They have remained true to the settlement that they made with
• 20:26
  Philadelphia. They have told me we cannot tell
• 20:30
  you because that's the agreement we made with the city of
• 20:34
  Philadelphia. A major blow for the family then

  came in October of 2025 when the new medical examiner once again
• 20:42
  it ruled her death cell phone alive.

  The 32 page report cited several factors, including Ellen's
• 20:48
  struggle with anxiety, the number of hesitation wounds on
• 20:52
  her body, what they call hesitation wounds they weren't,
• 20:55
  and that there was no evidence that she was in an abusive
• 20:57
  relationship or that anyone else was inside the apartment when
• 21:00
  she died, which blows my mind. No evidence, guys.

  OK, Josh and Sandy have allowed me and a few others
• 21:14
  unprecedented access to their daughter's case file.

  It actually it actually like if I can just speak personally here
• 21:24
  it it it comes with a pretty heavyweight because you're
• 21:30
  entrusted with all of their deceased daughter's life And and
• 21:38
  after being asked, don't share this with anyone.

  There are very few things that I am allowed to share.

  Public records, for example, I am.

  Things that they filed in court, I can share, but but so many
• 21:52
  things, including all of the autopsy photos that they
• 21:56
  obtained from Philadelphia, No evidence that she was in an

  abusive relationship. OK, Exhibit A, By my count, she
• 22:07
  had 55 bruises on her body, not 11 like Doctor Osborne said in
• 22:12
  his report, 55 she Those included bruises around her neck
• 22:20
  as if somebody had throttled her.

  It also includes A hemorrhage inside her neck.

  Once they have deflected the skin and the muscles away, there
• 22:30
  was a obvious hemorrhage in her neck as if again, she had been
• 22:36
  throttled. There were scratches on her
• 22:40
  behind her nail beds. There were bruises on on her
• 22:45
  hands. I have brought out I or I have
• 22:50
  brought up that in looking at Ellen's personal history, she
• 22:55
  kept a detailed personal history in the form of photographs that
• 23:00
  she lived. It didn't seem to matter the
• 23:07
  season if she were indoors during the winter or any other
• 23:10
  time. She was a girl who loves tank
• 23:12
  tops and spaghetti straps, and she loved strapless and
• 23:16
  sleeveless tops. She's a very fashionable young
• 23:20
  woman. That all stopped near the end of
• 23:24
  her life, like in the last month of her life.

  In the last month of her life. The photos we have of her have
• 23:33
  turtlenecks, thick sweaters, shirt sleeves, things like that.

  She was cover, in my opinion. She was covering up bruises.

  No, no evidence that she was in an abusive relationship.

  She was, she was begging to come home.
• 23:54
  And and it wasn't just her parents that she asked.

  She asked a cousin if she could stay with her.
• 23:59
  Like it's, it's ridiculous, just ridiculous.

  Or that anyone else was in the apartment the day she died.

  The only person who says that she was alone was Sam Goldberg.

  And to me, he's suspect #1 come on.

  I want those investigators on Ellen's case because the

  investigators on this case are are just everything they did was

  questionable to me. OK?

  the US Attorney's office told us it's their standard practice to

  neither confirm nor deny the existence of an investigation.

  And a spokesperson for the Philadelphia PD explained that

  the department does not comment on ongoing legal matters.

  The city of Philadelphia says it will neither confirm nor deny
• 26:14
  that the US Attorney's Office requested information related to
• 26:17
  the Ellen Greenberg case. OK, now, when I saw this report
• 26:23
  from Brian Sheehan, I made several calls, right?

  You guys know that I am in touch with Josh and Sandy pretty
• 26:32
  regularly. You know, during the, during the
• 26:34
  holiday season, it slowed down. I need to, I need to repent and
• 26:37
  do better about that. These are people that I care
• 26:39
  for. I consider them almost bonus
• 26:42
  parents at this point. They're they're just awesome.

  But I made calls to Josh and Sandy and several other people.

  I can tell you this, it is confirmed to to my satisfaction
• 26:57
  that the US Attorney's Office number one has requested
• 27:02
  documents out of the Philly PD. They have requested documents
• 27:07
  from other parties and they have issued.

  I have two sources that are telling me that they have issued
• 27:16
  at least one subpoena. And I believe it's more than
• 27:20
  that. It, it's possibly 2 right now,
• 27:23
  but I think, I think that those subpoenas would probably include
• 27:28
  the investigators on the case, the first responders, the
• 27:33
  medical examiner's office. If, if there is one subpoena,
• 27:36
  there's two. If there are two subpoenas,
• 27:37
  there's probably 10. So I can confirm to my to my
• 27:44
  satisfaction that this is happening And, and, and I
• 27:48
