- Jessica Figueroa: Hi everyone, I'm so excited to be here. My name is Cindy, and this is the Just For Today podcast. Here we talk about things using Dale Carnegie's principles of doing things just for today, because life is easier when you think about what you have to get done today. So today's topic was given to me fresh by my daughter. And she said that today we should talk about. Using people's names. This is such a good one. Big shout out to my daughter. So just for today, when we greet people or when we see people, we're going to be intentional about using their names. Names are really important and they make people feel very special. Don't you feel special when someone uses your name? When they use your name in conversation, when they call you by name. Doesn't that feel good? We all have a unique name, unless your name is Jessica. And then it's not really unique at all. That was a little shout out to my business partner, Jessica. ⁓ but some of us have more unique names than others. But the point is, you don't know a lot of people like you with your name, your first name, your middle name, your last name. So just for today, throughout your day, I want you to use people's names. If you run into the coffee shop guy or where you grocery shop at Publix, do you know the person's name? And if you don't, they have a name tag on. So when they say have a great day, I want you to look at their name name tag and say, you too, Sharon. And then when you drive through, let's say you're going to Chick-fil-A today, I want you to look at the young man's name tag. And when he says, Have a great day. It's been a pleasure, you're going to say you too, Nick, enjoy your day. So where you see someone with a name tag or the people that you already know their name, I want you to say hello. How about your neighbor? Maybe you, maybe today's trash day and you're going to run out, run into them. You're going to be like, hey Toby Have a great day. We're going to start using names just for today. Today, we're going to use as many names as possible. If you don't know their names, don't try to use their names, but maybe learn it just today. You can say, I'm so sorry. I forgot your name. I know we've known each other seven years. It can be awkward, but get awkward because the awkward ends when you ask now. And then it won't be awkward again. Just for today, guys. See you tomorrow.
