- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 0:26Speaker 2: for millennials who want financial freedom. Welcome back to another
- 0:30Speaker 2: one of our Friday Drinks.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Episodes and as you guys.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Know, still from Lockdown, where we get to celebrate the
- 0:37Speaker 2: wins from our She's on the Money community. This week
- 0:40Speaker 2: in particular, we have had some really good conversations in
- 0:44Speaker 2: our team Slack group about what you guys have been
- 0:47Speaker 2: up to and I can't wait to dive into it.
- 0:49Speaker 2: But before we get there, Tony, what happened on our
- 0:52Speaker 2: Monday morning money Diary?
- 0:54Speaker 4: Our money direst this week talked about how she had
- 0:58Speaker 4: this perfect life at Perfect Life in New Zealand, the boat,
- 1:02Speaker 4: the house by the water, super happy, and then went
- 1:06Speaker 4: through a divorce and kind of packed up, paid off
- 1:09Speaker 4: of a debt and.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Moved overseas and to Thailand.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yeah, moved to Thailand.
- 1:14Speaker 4: She's teaching over there and she's loving it. And while
- 1:17Speaker 4: she did say that it hasn't been the perfect you know,
- 1:20Speaker 4: holiday life with COVID going on and everything, but she's
- 1:24Speaker 4: loving it and she's making great money and she's like
- 1:27Speaker 4: still contributing to her Kiwi Saver, which is very cool.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Very important as well, guys, uh.
- 1:32Speaker 4: Huh yeah, And it was a really good listen, just
- 1:36Speaker 4: real eye opening one to kind of you don't really
- 1:38Speaker 4: understand what's going on behind closed doors. And while someone's
- 1:42Speaker 4: life might seem so perfect and so easy, it's you know,
- 1:45Speaker 4: it can be really hard. So there's a great listen
- 1:47Speaker 4: if you've if you've got a spare halfer, you've got a.
- 1:50Speaker 3: Spare halfer, you probably should check it out.
- 1:52Speaker 2: I also really liked that episode, Tony, because I feel
- 1:55Speaker 2: like we don't often get to see the flip side
- 1:58Speaker 2: of a relationship. It's always, you know, on She's on
- 2:01Speaker 2: the money. We've had a number of I guess cheating
- 2:03Speaker 2: stories where our Money Diarist has been cheated on in
- 2:07Speaker 2: one way or another, or someone's been unfaithful, and this
- 2:10Speaker 2: story was the flip, like our Money Diarist was the
- 2:13Speaker 2: person who cheated on their partner, and I found it
- 2:16Speaker 2: really eye opening seeing from their point of view of
- 2:19Speaker 2: what was going on and how that worked. And it
- 2:21Speaker 2: doesn't normalize it, it doesn't make it okay, but I
- 2:24Speaker 2: just found it really interesting, maybe because I'm always into
- 2:26Speaker 2: the pervy stuff, Tony, but just to see from the
- 2:29Speaker 2: other side, like how did you get there?
- 2:32Speaker 3: What does that mean?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Because I think we all say things like I'd never
- 2:35Speaker 2: x y Z, But up until the point in the
- 2:38Speaker 2: Money Diary where she said it was actually me. I
- 2:39Speaker 2: think Tony, you and I were on zoom and we're like, oh,
- 2:42Speaker 2: he's gonna have cheated on her, Like I could.
- 2:44Speaker 3: See it coming.
- 2:45Speaker 2: But then she was like, then I cheated on him,
- 2:47Speaker 2: and I was like, oh, oh, that's not what I expected.
- 2:51Speaker 2: And it was just so authentic of her to share
- 2:54Speaker 2: that and being open and honest about that. I think
- 2:57Speaker 2: was just really special from our community that she trusted
- 3:00Speaker 2: us with that story, because it's not often that you
- 3:02Speaker 2: turn around and be like, oh, hey, jes, I did
- 3:04Speaker 2: XYZ to my partner, because you would often expect a
- 3:08Speaker 2: lot of judgment in return. But for her to trust
- 3:10Speaker 2: us with that story was really special. And I've got
- 3:13Speaker 2: now nothing but respect for her and her journey and
- 3:15Speaker 2: what she's doing to like just be who she wants
- 3:18Speaker 2: to be moving forward. So I think, yeah, it was
- 3:21Speaker 2: just really special to share that story, and I guess
- 3:23Speaker 2: learn from it, and that's what we're all about as
- 3:25Speaker 2: a community, is like learning from each other's mistakes and
- 3:28Speaker 2: learning from each other's journeys, and I think that's, yeah,
- 3:31Speaker 2: from my perspective, really special. So moving away from that,
- 3:35Speaker 2: miss Jessica Rici, what did we do on this Wednesday's episode?
- 3:41Speaker 5: Well, perhaps in an appropriate follow up from that, we
- 3:44Speaker 5: spoke about binding financial agreements.
- 3:47Speaker 3: D how topical.
- 3:49Speaker 6: I know you may have heard me coming.
- 3:51Speaker 5: Over for about thirty seconds at the start, but it
- 3:54Speaker 5: was the best thirty seconds.
- 3:56Speaker 6: Honestly, guys, just come for that.
- 3:58Speaker 5: But no, we actually brought an expur in because we
- 4:01Speaker 5: thought talking about binding financial agreements, obviously there's a lot
- 4:04Speaker 5: of technicalities. We're talking about actual legally binding documents, and
- 4:08Speaker 5: it was really important to us to get this right.
- 4:10Speaker 5: So we brought our really good friend Lucy in.
- 4:13Speaker 7: And she not my dog. I was just about to say.
- 4:18Speaker 3: My dog Lucy. For those of you playing along at home.
- 4:21Speaker 2: Lucy Percy is not a sheeper doodle. She's actually a
- 4:24Speaker 2: family and a state planning lawyer, which is obviously a
- 4:28Speaker 2: bit smarter than my dog that can now play dead.
- 4:31Speaker 3: So yeah, with Lucy if.
- 4:36Speaker 6: It was a really interesting chat around.
- 4:38Speaker 5: I guess the concept of a prenup is something we
- 4:40Speaker 5: see a lot in American culture and TV and rvies.
- 4:43Speaker 5: It's not well lean up, but it's actually not really
- 4:48Speaker 5: a thing here. And that's why a binding financial agreement
- 4:51Speaker 5: is kind of our equivalent.
- 4:53Speaker 6: It definitely is a little bit different.
- 4:54Speaker 5: And so Lucy gave us some really great insights into
- 4:57Speaker 5: what it means when you might want one, what the
- 4:59Speaker 5: proce is, and all of those really interesting nitty gritty things.
- 5:03Speaker 2: This is true, and Lucy is a good friend of
- 5:05Speaker 2: the show. I know that our team have used her personally.
- 5:09Speaker 2: I send a lot of clients to her. I've sent
- 5:11Speaker 2: family members to her. I really trust her. So hopefully
- 5:14Speaker 2: we can get her in on a few more episodes
- 5:16Speaker 2: to pick her brains. And you know, sounds smarter than
- 5:19Speaker 2: we actually are.
- 5:20Speaker 3: So speaking of smarter than us, Ryan.
- 5:23Speaker 7: What welcome here? I am smarter.
- 5:27Speaker 2: You're welcome.
- 5:29Speaker 6: Not where that was going at all.
- 5:30Speaker 2: That's where I respect it. I respect the opportunity he sees. Hey, Ryan,
- 5:36Speaker 2: what happened in the community this week?
- 5:38Speaker 8: Well, last week on Friday Drinks, we talked about getting things,
- 5:43Speaker 8: getting big things in small cars because VU were saying,
- 5:46Speaker 8: how you got something from Facebook marketplace?
- 5:48Speaker 2: Now that was yet oh yeah, yeah, And that was
- 5:50Speaker 2: really embarrassing in.
- 5:51Speaker 7: The kitchen and Jess, what did you get into the
- 5:53Speaker 7: small car?
- 5:55Speaker 6: And I care couch to the back of the micraft.
- 5:57Speaker 6: Thank you all right.
- 5:59Speaker 8: Shout out to Beck Madden who got a great Dane
- 6:02Speaker 8: into Hyonde gets.
- 6:04Speaker 7: That's very well done.
- 6:06Speaker 8: Rhiannon got a queen sized bed from my here into
- 6:09Speaker 8: her friend's Hyonda Gets.
- 6:10Speaker 7: Shout out to the high little.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Sister used to drive a Hyonda Gets. Unfortunately it got
- 6:16Speaker 2: written off, but she would have had it until the
- 6:19Speaker 2: day she died. It is a ripper of a little
- 6:21Speaker 2: car like zips around, so speedy, but also just like practical,
- 6:26Speaker 2: like guys the boots Spaci, so spacious.
- 6:29Speaker 8: So spacious, Beck said, I once fit one hundred handbags
- 6:33Speaker 8: that I collected as donations to Share the Dignity for
- 6:36Speaker 8: the It's in the Bag campaign. One hundred handbags into
- 6:39Speaker 8: the back of a Mazda Tu. Well, that's huge And
- 6:42Speaker 8: can I gu you are.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Either doing something for Share the Dignity or you're a thief.
- 6:45Speaker 3: There is between.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Share the Dignity are an awesome, awesome organization that I
- 6:51Speaker 5: personally really love and support. If you haven't had them,
- 6:53Speaker 5: definitely look them up. They're essentially trying to equalize access
- 6:57Speaker 5: to sanitary products for people who bleed. It's a really
- 7:00Speaker 5: important thing period. Poverty is actually really prevalent here in Australia,
- 7:04Speaker 5: which I didn't know before.
- 7:05Speaker 6: Seeing their work.
- 7:06Speaker 5: So huge for getting one hundred handbags in the car
- 7:10Speaker 5: for that alone. Go check out the.
- 7:11Speaker 8: Instagram and a random one here that was I don't
- 7:17Speaker 8: know if it's definitely just Which is the passing comment
- 7:20Speaker 8: from Beck Mackay.
- 7:22Speaker 7: She said, Literally every week I.
- 7:23Speaker 8: Think of a cool money win and I'm always like, oh,
- 7:26Speaker 8: I should totally put it on the thread for next week,
- 7:28Speaker 8: and then I always forget. And then every Friday I
- 7:31Speaker 8: hear the episode and go, damn it. I forgot this,
- 7:33Speaker 8: damn it that could have been me.
- 7:35Speaker 7: Yep.
- 7:35Speaker 8: Then I said, oh I, Beck, thanks for commenting, did
- 7:37Speaker 8: you have one to share this week? And she didn't
- 7:38Speaker 8: get it in before the time of recording, so her
- 7:41Speaker 8: bad treat.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Shout out to Beck, who clearly listens to every Friday.
- 7:44Speaker 7: Episode Mapye, who right now will be going damn it again.
- 7:49Speaker 5: But Beck, we read that thread all week long and
- 7:51Speaker 5: it's up and live all week long, and every Monday
- 7:54Speaker 5: I close the previous week's thread. So if you think
- 7:57Speaker 5: of it on a Wednesday, just because it's not Monday
- 7:59Speaker 5: doesn't mean can't post Love it in, Love it in.
- 8:01Speaker 2: And it's also really helpful, Jess, because I found myself
- 8:04Speaker 2: always looking for the thread in the Facebook group, and
- 8:06Speaker 2: the fact that you now close them means I don't
- 8:08Speaker 2: get confused over what's live and what's not and where
- 8:10Speaker 2: should I comment and where shouldn't I.
- 8:12Speaker 3: It's like you're a genius at community management.
- 8:14Speaker 6: You're so welcome.
- 8:15Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 8:16Speaker 8: So. Veronica bought a at home nail kit that was
- 8:21Speaker 8: recommended by a friend, and we talk about.
- 8:23Speaker 7: Cost per wear and cost per use.
- 8:26Speaker 8: She said, after I use it three times, i'll be ahead,
- 8:29Speaker 8: and after that I'll save so much money by not
- 8:32Speaker 8: going to the nail salon every three or four weeks.
- 8:34Speaker 7: So that is a huge thing.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Do you know how many messages I get per week
- 8:37Speaker 2: asking me what nail kit I use? Because I do
- 8:40Speaker 2: my own nails at home, which you guys would know.
- 8:43Speaker 2: In fact, i'm doing them right now. But I use
- 8:48Speaker 2: the Opalac kit from Priceline. Adore it, and it was
- 8:52Speaker 2: on special when I bought it for fifty bucks, including
- 8:54Speaker 2: like three colors, top Base and the light, which I
- 8:57Speaker 2: think is a really good deal, which for me and Jess.
- 8:59Speaker 2: You know, I don't know Tony, if you've gotten your
- 9:01Speaker 2: nails done with us in the city pre covid life,
- 9:04Speaker 2: but it's about fifty bucks to get your nails done
- 9:06Speaker 2: in the city, so my cost per wear is very
- 9:09Speaker 2: very low one. But yeah, it's like one time use
- 9:14Speaker 2: and she's good to go. But it is a bit
- 9:16Speaker 2: more tricky than people think. It is, like you do
- 9:19Speaker 2: have to kind of concentrate.
- 9:22Speaker 7: So not to be glad you're doing that now.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just really good at it, guys
- 9:27Speaker 2: us Jess, I'm really good at it all right.
- 9:30Speaker 8: Alease in New Zealand. Now, New Zealand has a way
- 9:33Speaker 8: more simple way of getting your tax done than in Australia.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It's like actually just better.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Yeah, so they just do everything better than us.
- 9:41Speaker 3: The better they do tax better.
- 9:44Speaker 2: They let you use your KILEI saver for your first
- 9:46Speaker 2: home or you don't have that option with superannuation. Honestly,
- 9:50Speaker 2: I think they just they've got better air quality, Like
- 9:53Speaker 2: what else have they got?
- 9:55Speaker 8: So Alis said, I was wondering when I should expect
- 9:57Speaker 8: my money from my tax returns. So I logged into
- 10:00Speaker 8: the ird account that they have, and she realized she
- 10:04Speaker 8: hadn't actually received her tax return since twenty eighteen. So
- 10:08Speaker 8: she contacted them and they said, yep, we just didn't
- 10:10Speaker 8: have a bank account to send it to. So she
- 10:11Speaker 8: got the past three years worth of tax returns in
- 10:15Speaker 8: one hit, in one day.
- 10:17Speaker 3: It's not a money when I don't know.
- 10:19Speaker 8: What all, right, Emmy, which this is something that no
- 10:22Speaker 8: one can relate to.
- 10:24Speaker 7: Emmy said, I was gonna sold a super yacht.
- 10:27Speaker 3: No, oh, that's just packer, okay.
- 10:30Speaker 8: Emmy said, I ordered delivery on Friday, but the restaurant
- 10:35Speaker 8: didn't have the exact thing that I wanted, So instead
- 10:37Speaker 8: of getting something else, I saved twenty one dollars by
- 10:41Speaker 8: not ordering it and just eating what I had in
- 10:43Speaker 8: my fridge.
- 10:46Speaker 7: A good job.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Something else that I didn't actually want to eat, but
- 10:49Speaker 2: it would have been defiance and not wanting to cook.
- 10:53Speaker 8: Christie said, five years ago, I bought a horse float
- 10:57Speaker 8: like you know, the trailer also, but.
- 11:00Speaker 7: Okay, for sixteen thousand dollars it cost for the trailer.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Sixteen sorry, could you just repeat that?
- 11:07Speaker 7: Sixteen thousand? She bought it for so.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Much money for five not even self driving.
- 11:12Speaker 7: Yeah, I know you'd want it to drive itself for that.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Does it come with the horse?
- 11:16Speaker 2: Is it like when you go to the toy shop
- 11:17Speaker 2: and you pick up a Barbie horse trailer and it
- 11:20Speaker 2: comes with the horses and the Barbie and all of
- 11:21Speaker 2: the accessories.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Or is it just the trailer.
- 11:23Speaker 8: I'd be asking for those things, but it is just
- 11:26Speaker 8: the trailer. Sixteen thousand dollars five years ago. She sold
- 11:30Speaker 8: it yesterday for sixteen thousand dollars.
- 11:34Speaker 2: Five years later Legend borrowed it for free.
- 11:38Speaker 3: For those years.
- 11:40Speaker 7: Yep.
- 11:40Speaker 8: Steph Grace finished second in her footy tips at work
- 11:43Speaker 8: one hundred and fifty bucks.
- 11:44Speaker 7: Thank you very much coming you could.
- 11:46Speaker 3: You give me your hot tips.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I'm terrible at footy tips, honestly forgetting about them.
- 11:52Speaker 8: Alie Stewart said, I needed some trackies because mine were
- 11:56Speaker 8: falling apart, and we're all working from home wearing trackies
- 11:58Speaker 8: all day. So I think gave and can understand that.
- 12:01Speaker 8: Ali said, found two nice pairs from Bonds and Bonds
- 12:04Speaker 8: trackies are like stock, but.
- 12:06Speaker 7: They're like get the job done. We're they're real fancy.
- 12:08Speaker 8: Recommended retail price sixty five dollars, but they were on
- 12:12Speaker 8: sale for nineteen dollars and if you sign up with
- 12:17Speaker 8: an account you get free shipping, and she got a
- 12:18Speaker 8: ten dollar birthday voucher, which means overall she saved over
- 12:22Speaker 8: one hundred bucks on a couple of pairs of nice
- 12:24Speaker 8: fancy Trackie. So well, that is a fifty percent of
- 12:27Speaker 8: per pare well, good work, Ali, and I respect getting
- 12:30Speaker 8: you track he is as someone who's literally sitting at
- 12:33Speaker 8: my kitchen table now wearing the Danger's track ones.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Are the most comfortable ones.
- 12:38Speaker 8: Frying in Well, I'm inspired by Alie nonetheless, so thank
- 12:42Speaker 8: you very much.
- 12:48Speaker 2: All Right, we are back and I have a piece
- 12:51Speaker 2: of content for you guys that I would love to
- 12:54Speaker 2: share because I think it plays really well into my
- 12:57Speaker 2: money loss of the week orbe at Mine's complay my fault,
- 13:00Speaker 2: whereas this story is actually not their fault.
- 13:03Speaker 3: It's just really bad.
- 13:04Speaker 2: But I was reading this week in the news that
- 13:07Speaker 2: there is a very bizarre reason of New South Wales
- 13:10Speaker 2: couple keep getting incorrect penalty notices. Can any of you
- 13:14Speaker 2: guys like guess why they might keep getting fines in
- 13:18Speaker 2: the mail that aren't actually meant for them.
- 13:21Speaker 6: Someone didn't update their address.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yeah, their address, definitely, you reckon.
- 13:26Speaker 2: It's actually because the fine system in New South Wales
- 13:30Speaker 2: can't tell the difference on their toll roads between zero
- 13:34Speaker 2: and the letter O, so.
- 13:36Speaker 6: So it seems like it would be a problem.
- 13:39Speaker 2: It is, but since twenty eighteen they have been getting
- 13:43Speaker 2: fines for other people's cars in their name, which I
- 13:47Speaker 2: think is absolutely ridiculous and obviously wildly unnecessary. But apparently
- 13:52Speaker 2: they keep getting chased up on it. And apparently it's
- 13:56Speaker 2: not even a car. It's a little scooter so it's
- 13:58Speaker 2: even smaller, which I think it's very cute, but at
- 14:01Speaker 2: the same time that's so nice.
- 14:02Speaker 3: I'd start to get.
- 14:03Speaker 2: Really frustrated if I was getting fine sent to me
- 14:06Speaker 2: that I know I didn't actually incur.
- 14:09Speaker 8: It'll be one of those ones where you would call
- 14:11Speaker 8: them up and they'd be like, oh, sorry, it's just
- 14:13Speaker 8: because the and you're like, I know, why just stops.
- 14:16Speaker 7: Saying something from happening, and they're like, oh, it's just
- 14:17Speaker 7: a glitch in the system. Sorry, and you're like, well,
- 14:20Speaker 7: just do something.
- 14:22Speaker 5: But think about how many number plates you see that
- 14:24Speaker 5: have a zero in them, Like, are you telling me
- 14:27Speaker 5: that every single time one of those cars goes through,
- 14:30Speaker 5: like surely that is a problem that someone should be fixing.
- 14:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and do you know what's more frustrating about this?
- 14:36Speaker 2: Or I would find it frustrating, like obviously they're not
- 14:39Speaker 2: paying these because they're not their fines, but they have
- 14:42Speaker 2: to go through the whole toll process and we all
- 14:44Speaker 2: know if we get a fine, to go through the
- 14:46Speaker 2: dispute process is like pulling teeth and trying to get
- 14:49Speaker 2: through their call center is a nightmare. And then you
- 14:51Speaker 2: have to submit your claim online. Yes, it's like that
- 14:53Speaker 2: time that you had to ride into the parking place
- 14:56Speaker 2: to get your money back, like it's unnecessary, life admin.
- 15:00Speaker 2: But guys, a, the fines they've ranged between eleven and fourteen.
- 15:03Speaker 5: Dollars, so they're not even what but you know what
- 15:07Speaker 5: the problem is if they don't pay there, if it's
- 15:10Speaker 5: anything like Victoria, not speaking from experience, but if you
- 15:15Speaker 5: don't pay like a tollvine, that's literally like twenty bucks
- 15:18Speaker 5: if you if it keeps like coming, and if you've
- 15:21Speaker 5: maybe moved addresses and weren't getting the letters for example,
- 15:26Speaker 5: it goes to like the police and it's an automatic
- 15:28Speaker 5: five hundred dollar fine.
- 15:30Speaker 2: It's so much money, like a twenty so much money
- 15:33Speaker 2: and as attorning, you guys are going to be shook
- 15:35Speaker 2: about this as well. I mean it kind of makes
- 15:38Speaker 2: sense because we all know that the administration fees often
- 15:42Speaker 2: outweigh the actual fine. But the actual fines about three dollars,
- 15:46Speaker 2: and then the admin fee that they're being charged on.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Top of that was ten dollars.
- 15:50Speaker 2: But that just kind of seems like a lie to
- 15:52Speaker 2: me because I can't see a toll road in Victoria
- 15:55Speaker 2: that's less than fifteen dollars to travel on. So what
- 15:57Speaker 2: do you mean you got three dollars toll road New
- 15:59Speaker 2: South Wales.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Yeah, that's actually crazy, is it? Because it's a scooter
- 16:03Speaker 5: like smaller vehicles smaller that's a good paint.
- 16:07Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Should I get a scooter?
- 16:08Speaker 2: Am I going to save a whole heap of money
- 16:10Speaker 2: on toll roads?
- 16:11Speaker 6: Put Lucy in the front basket and.
- 16:15Speaker 2: One of those scooters with the side cars and I'd
- 16:18Speaker 2: be like, it's money, win guys and saving money on
- 16:20Speaker 2: the tolls.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Or imagine like going to Kohle's and putting like your
- 16:24Speaker 4: Enviro bags like on the handles of a scooter and
- 16:26Speaker 4: just like yeating yourself down free.
- 16:31Speaker 5: No.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Well, as I said before, guys, this actually segues, which
- 16:35Speaker 2: is like maybe this weird kind of scooter sending ways
- 16:40Speaker 2: into my money confession of the week. And well, so recently,
- 16:48Speaker 2: you guys know, I bought a new car, which is
- 16:50Speaker 2: very exciting, and we've also been in lockdown. So I've
- 16:54Speaker 2: been home and there's been a few times I've had
- 16:56Speaker 2: to drive places, you know, in between lockdowns since I
- 16:59Speaker 2: got my car, because I've had it for a few
- 17:01Speaker 2: months now, so she's she's doing well. Just for those
- 17:04Speaker 2: of you wanting to know. And because I've registered my
- 17:07Speaker 2: car in the business, any potential fines actually being sent
- 17:11Speaker 2: to the office and because we're lockdown, I'm not going
- 17:13Speaker 2: to get them at the moment. And it turns out
- 17:15Speaker 2: I completely forgot to register my new number plate with
- 17:19Speaker 2: the toll roads here in Victoria. So not only have
- 17:22Speaker 2: I incurred tolls that I have to pay, which is
- 17:24Speaker 2: fine and fair, and I kind of saw those coming
- 17:27Speaker 2: because the male's been going to the office and I
- 17:29Speaker 2: haven't been that prompt in getting it. I now have
- 17:31Speaker 2: penalties on top.
- 17:33Speaker 7: Of those more than the actual Yeah they are.
- 17:38Speaker 4: How much are we talking?
- 17:40Speaker 3: It's a couple of hundred dollars.
- 17:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I've actually got to add them together because
- 17:44Speaker 2: there's more than one.
- 17:46Speaker 3: But that's all right, we'll get there.
- 17:48Speaker 2: But yeah, that's me being really unorganized, but also bitten
- 17:53Speaker 2: in the bottom by the toll roads in Victoria, which
- 17:55Speaker 2: is again probably my own fault, because Tony, you know
- 17:59Speaker 2: where I live, I easily could drive not on the
- 18:01Speaker 2: tolls on the top.
- 18:05Speaker 7: Get I hope getting there eighty seconds earlier was worth it.
- 18:10Speaker 2: That's all I'm gaining as well, Ryan. So what have
- 18:13Speaker 2: you got, Ryan to share with us? A money win
- 18:15Speaker 2: or a confession? What are you putting on the table
- 18:17Speaker 2: this week?
- 18:18Speaker 8: I've got I'm going to call it a money win.
- 18:20Speaker 8: I am recording from home today and not the Kiss Studios,
- 18:26Speaker 8: the radio station where I work at, because everyone at
- 18:28Speaker 8: Kiss has been given too free annual leave, not annually
- 18:33Speaker 8: leave like mental health and how I've seen some companies
- 18:37Speaker 8: they're like, oh, the whole company's having a day off,
- 18:39Speaker 8: or they we're having a lot week shutdown. So we
- 18:41Speaker 8: got a few days to use in September whenever we wanted,
- 18:45Speaker 8: So it wasn't like a whole company on a certain day.
- 18:46Speaker 8: They just use them whenever you want, and I thought, well,
- 18:48Speaker 8: with the long weekend coming up in Melbourne for the
- 18:51Speaker 8: Grand Final, I thought i'd stack them together, so very nut.
- 18:55Speaker 8: It's not money in my pocket, but it's a bit
- 18:57Speaker 8: of a break without using up my annual leave.
- 19:00Speaker 7: That makes sense. So I think that was a win.
- 19:02Speaker 8: And obviously pretty stoked with the company when that email
- 19:05Speaker 8: came out and I was just like, yep, just let
- 19:07Speaker 8: you manage, you know, and take the day off.
- 19:08Speaker 7: And I was like, see you later.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yeah, that's actually really kind of them, which I super appreciate.
- 19:14Speaker 3: But I love kiss Obviously we have a lot to
- 19:17Speaker 3: do with them. But I do have a question.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Isn't taking a mental health day part of your sick
- 19:23Speaker 2: leave anyway?
- 19:24Speaker 7: Like shouldn't get mental health?
- 19:25Speaker 3: Is just you neat them.
- 19:27Speaker 7: It's not called a mental health day.
- 19:28Speaker 8: It just said everyone's busy and whatnot, and so you
- 19:31Speaker 8: just get a day off like a bonus day.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Okay, not like a mental health day, just like bonus leaf,
- 19:36Speaker 2: which is kind of nice.
- 19:37Speaker 8: Yeah, you know, it can be working from home and
- 19:41Speaker 8: you know, zoom burnout and people are sitting Oh that's real.
- 19:44Speaker 2: I don't think people talk enough about that, but Zoom
- 19:47Speaker 2: burnout and just burn out during this period of time
- 19:50Speaker 2: is so real, and it's so exhausting as well, because
- 19:53Speaker 2: you're like, I shouldn't be tired, like literally haven't left
- 19:56Speaker 2: in my house, but I feel like I'm lacking a
- 19:58Speaker 2: lot of sleep.
- 20:00Speaker 3: So if you need it, take it.
- 20:02Speaker 2: But I guess that's also a nice bonus for you, Ryan,
- 20:05Speaker 2: but also a little bit of permission to our community
- 20:08Speaker 2: that if you haven't taken a mental health day, you
- 20:10Speaker 2: are more than welcome to take mental health care days
- 20:13Speaker 2: under your.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Actual sick leave.
- 20:15Speaker 8: Absolutely, you don't need to be physically ill to be sick.
- 20:20Speaker 7: Said, Yeah, sure, that's what I care for.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Use it, and I feel like it actually makes you
- 20:25Speaker 2: a more productive employee. Like Ryan, these additional days off,
- 20:29Speaker 2: like you're going to return to work feeling far more
- 20:31Speaker 2: energized and like back in it because you've had enough
- 20:34Speaker 2: time to like rest and restore and.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Like actually just get it together.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Whereas if you just don't take those days off, the
- 20:40Speaker 2: burnout is so bad, like lasts for ages.
- 20:43Speaker 8: But yeah, just taking a day to get better is
- 20:46Speaker 8: actually better for not just you, but the the business.
- 20:49Speaker 8: They'd rather have a healthy and productive in three days time.
- 20:51Speaker 8: Then don't tell my stuff that let's be fine.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, So Tony or Jess, who's going next?
- 21:00Speaker 4: I can go next because I don't have a money
- 21:02Speaker 4: win or a confession.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Cool which my contributing don't.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Need my money win because I'm not spending any money
- 21:09Speaker 4: at the moment.
- 21:10Speaker 3: I've got nothing to contribute. And that's actually a win.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I love that because we're at home still and I've
- 21:17Speaker 4: you know, been taking it really easy on online shopping,
- 21:20Speaker 4: and we haven't really been you know, ordering lots of
- 21:23Speaker 4: food or doing anything fun. So I feel like my
- 21:26Speaker 4: win is that I'm I've broken even I really like that.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I think that's really good.
- 21:31Speaker 2: I have a question, Tony, do you reckon that's a
- 21:33Speaker 2: lead on from your accountability August like reset, because like
- 21:37Speaker 2: you were like, no, I'm not going to do any
- 21:39Speaker 2: discretionary spending, like no online shopping, and it was like
- 21:42Speaker 2: this like hard and fast rule for you. Now you're like, oh,
- 21:45Speaker 2: I'm just not doing any Do you think you changed
- 21:47Speaker 2: your habits?
- 21:48Speaker 4: I think it's definitely part of it, because I've done
- 21:51Speaker 4: less scrolling and less adding to cart, and things just
- 21:56Speaker 4: don't seem to be adding up the way that they did.
- 21:58Speaker 4: I think as well. You guys were just saying about
- 22:01Speaker 4: the zoom burnout. I think even to shop on my
- 22:04Speaker 4: phone or on my computer after work. I just don't
- 22:06Speaker 4: even want to sit at my computer at all. I
- 22:08Speaker 4: don't want to listen to anything. I don't want to
- 22:10Speaker 4: see anything like I've been reading on the weekend lately,
- 22:14Speaker 4: watching the TV like I'm just sick of looking at screens.
- 22:18Speaker 4: So maybe that's part of it. Maybe the zoom burnout
- 22:20Speaker 4: is good because I'm spending less fun.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Money win money when I'm burnt out.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Guys, do you have a money win Jess?
- 22:29Speaker 6: I have so.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Last week I had what was meant to be a
- 22:32Speaker 5: win and turned into a loss. This week I have
- 22:34Speaker 5: what was kind of a loss but also sort of
- 22:36Speaker 5: turned into a win.
- 22:39Speaker 2: I'm really all clutching its straws a little bit.
- 22:42Speaker 5: So the start of this week, I woke up one
- 22:45Speaker 5: morning to discover my boyfriend.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Had done the laundry. Gat Yeah, you would think so.
- 22:53Speaker 5: Upon further inspection, I discovered that he had washed a
- 22:59Speaker 5: jumper of mine and Victoria, this was actually a gift
- 23:02Speaker 5: that you gave me. It's a Mowhir jumper, No. One
- 23:06Speaker 5: of the yellow one the yellow one you guys know
- 23:10Speaker 5: that I wear all the time. It's one of the
- 23:12Speaker 5: nicest things that I own. It's like a two hundred
- 23:14Speaker 5: dollars jumper.
- 23:15Speaker 7: O honey.
- 23:17Speaker 5: He put it through the wash on like regular cycle
- 23:19Speaker 5: and it now looks like it's made for a six
- 23:21Speaker 5: year old.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Okay, all right, right, all right, So we can recover
- 23:24Speaker 2: from this. We can recover from this. Go get a
- 23:27Speaker 2: bucket of cold water or like a tub of cold
- 23:30Speaker 2: water and put a whole heap of conditioner in it
- 23:32Speaker 2: and let it soak. And then what you're going to
- 23:34Speaker 2: do is like ring it out gently, put it on
- 23:36Speaker 2: top of a towel and start stretching it out. Because
- 23:39Speaker 2: the conditioner, because it's like a natural fiber in its
- 23:42Speaker 2: mow hair, it's going to start stretched like it's going
- 23:45Speaker 2: to lose the stress in the fiber and it's going
- 23:47Speaker 2: to stretch back out.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Over a period of time. So you are welcome.
- 23:50Speaker 2: This could become a really good money win for not
- 23:52Speaker 2: only you, but other people who have maybe shrunk. They're
- 23:55Speaker 2: very nice jumpers in the washing machine.
- 23:57Speaker 7: So this is a win that became a last that's
- 23:59Speaker 7: now a win.
- 24:00Speaker 2: It's actually hot tip from my mum, so shout out
- 24:03Speaker 2: to Judy. She usually knows everything about everything, if I'm
- 24:06Speaker 2: being honest, the more you know, yeah, you're wellcare.
- 24:10Speaker 6: I was going to tell a second half that story,
- 24:11Speaker 6: but it doesn't really make sense.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Now She's like, well, I actually it was made for toddlers,
- 24:15Speaker 2: so I sold it on Deep Pop.
- 24:17Speaker 3: No toddler.
- 24:18Speaker 5: I stormed into the study holding the jumper like the
- 24:23Speaker 5: evidence of crime.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Jumper and obviously read the care label jets.
- 24:31Speaker 6: No, not at all. I don't think he even knows
- 24:34Speaker 6: that they exist, but so obviously.
- 24:36Speaker 5: He was very apologetic and immediately promised to purchase a
- 24:39Speaker 5: new one.
- 24:41Speaker 3: Out you can fix it.
- 24:43Speaker 5: It did come out a little while ago, so they
- 24:45Speaker 5: didn't even know if you'd still be able to get it,
- 24:46Speaker 5: but he jumped on the website and turns out they're
- 24:48Speaker 5: currently on sale for seventy dollars, so he replaced it
- 24:54Speaker 5: for obviously a lot less than it was purchased four
- 24:57Speaker 5: which is a win, but a loss, but a win,
- 25:00Speaker 5: you know. But now you'll have too, Well if I
- 25:02Speaker 5: fix the other one, yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Oh my god, yess, you know what you should do?
- 25:07Speaker 4: Fix it then sell for two hundred dollars and you
- 25:09Speaker 4: never bought it in the first place. It was a gift,
- 25:11Speaker 4: So you've really come out on top here. You're gonna
- 25:14Speaker 4: make money.
- 25:15Speaker 6: This is a money win, win, win win.
- 25:18Speaker 3: I can't wait to hear the update next week.
- 25:20Speaker 6: I'm going to try the softener thing that Victoria suggested.
- 25:23Speaker 6: I did not know that. I'm very excited to see.
- 25:25Speaker 2: So for more money hacks, tips and tricks and all
