- Alex: Welcome to another edition of the Unsexy Podcast, where we are going into episode fourteen, check-in thirteen of Unsexy Coaching with Erin, kicking it over to Aaron. Aaron: All right. Well I'm expecting this number to be a little bit higher. what was your weight? Alex: One I so I haven't been weighing myself every single day 'cause I was out of town, but I just did today's weight. One sixty five point eight. Mm-hmm. Aaron: And the reason it's great is cause it just proves our point that we always talk about. you and I just got back from a trip to Las Vegas where we essentially just ate whatever we wanted. and you went up like a pound and a half, which is gonna be probably right right back down to one sixty four, mid one sixty four by the end of this week. So I just I don't know, I I just I love when we can just totally prove that every time. Cause I mean, did you hold back at all on anything that you were eating? Alex: only I mean Saturday night no, which may have led to some intestinal issues, but what did we have? Like breakfast. I honestly like don't remember. Breakfast and the the bre the breakfast that we had, I held back a little bit 'cause I wanted to save most of the calories for the dinner on Friday night. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. I guess that's true too. we had so we had a very delicious breakfast and then didn't eat at all that day. I didn't I don't think I ate again until Yeah, I might I might have had a I think I had a protein Alex: Maybe protein shakes. Like I may have had like a shake. Aaron: shake, but I was it wasn't just I wasn't hungry. And that's the thing I was talking to Josh about. 'cause like when I first got there he's like kinda he's like, What's your how do you do this on these trips? Do you like just kind of track everything and and you know still stay on track with your macros like I don't care. I was like I find that I I can't overeat as much as I I know I can't overeat as much as I used to when I'd go on these trips. And just to kind of the the point to that was like we had a pretty calorie dense breakfast and I wasn't hungry really at all until we had dinner at seven. so no not at all. Alex: Yeah, me neither. That's not like a brag either. Like 'cause I was I did finally get hungry on Saturday, but it's because we didn't have breakfast. We went to the Mr. Olympia convention, which may which was Aaron: Which was awesome, by the way. Alex: great. We got a bunch of free stuff, so I also Aaron: I think Alex: my tummy still hurt a little bit. And then like I got hungry like at two o'clock. Aaron: Yeah. And I think I think what helped too is like I mean, we didn't eat anything, but we also had dozens of free samples of protein bars and protein drinks and all the other stuff that was there with a little macaroni cheese cups. so I'm sure that somewhat helped with holding us holding us over. it wasn't like a ridiculous amount. Alex: I mean, I think, yeah, for me it was just like feeling not good, like feeling sick. I'm just like, I have no appetite right now. Cause like I ate one noodle of that mac and cheese just to like see what the taste was. I'm like, and then like they they're like, hey, do you want a thing full of pretzels? I'm like, can I just get one, a single pretzel? I know how annoying Aaron: Ha ha ha. Alex: this is. Like I I'll f otherwise I'm just gonna throw these other four away. But that helped Aaron: They're like, we don't care. Alex: a little. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I guess that's true. Well, I'm I'm sure a lot of that has to do with because that happens to me sometimes too when I'm eating really like cleanly. and then I'll have just like especially I mean, we went all out on that meal, our dinner the night Friday night. Alex: The Friday night dinner. Yeah. Aaron: And so probably I probably the worst part of that was the dessert part where if you ever you ever come hang out with us and go to a nice dinner, if we're at a nice steakhouse and the dessert menu comes out. We typically order one of everything that's on the dessert menu so we can try everything. And that's exactly what we did. So I just probably just an unjust the fat and just sugar was just way more than we normally have. So I'm sure that played a role into your GI issues. Yeah. It Alex: Tum tum. My tum tum hurting. Aaron: just is a which happens to me sometimes too. I like I'll purposely make sure I eat, especially if I'm on going on an airplane. I'm like, I'm gonna eat as cleanly as I can just to avoid any issues on an airplane. but yeah. Okay, get back to it. workouts. Alex: Five. Five. Aaron: all right, Alex. Don't lie to me about this one. Macro Days complied with Alex: So that would that would be man, four days? Four days? No, no, no, five. Because Friday and Saturday were bad, but apart from that. Sunday was fine. Aaron: Yeah, I guess that's true. Yeah, we were only there f like the two full days. Yeah, that's that is true. I'll Alex: Yeah. Sunday was fine. Aaron: I'll tell you what I know you didn't lack. average steps. Alex: Aaron and I walked approximately 40,000 steps together. or in the same Aaron: Yeah. Alex: room. so I but I did notice it picked up a ton of my like swaying at the concert. So I do think I've been reducing my total amount just based on that. So my total came out to 23,000 on average per day, but I took Aaron: Mm-hmm. Alex: it down to 18. So I feel like it's off by about, depending on the day, about four to five thousand steps. Aaron: Yeah, that is interesting if you were but then like we get into like semantics of it. Like you're probably still you still were moving. Like you were still moving, you were still h like holding your body weight. Yeah. Alex: You were moving though. Yeah. Anyone who's not watching, I'm just doing like kinda moving like one of those car lot dolls a little bit, like just swaying in the wind. A light Aaron: Yeah the inflatables. Alex: a light wind, not a heavy wind. Aaron: I would be curious to know how many calories you burn at a concert. Like just if you're like actively, even just like moving around, whatever, like it's some jumping maybe gets involved. Obviously, it's gonna be way more if you're in like a mosh pit. But I'd be I'd be interesting to know. Because we weren't just like sitting the entire time. I'd say the majority of the time we were standing. Alex: Yeah. Aaron: so there is that. And I want to point out that even though the gym wasn't the best, we still made sure to get our workouts in. Well, that's because you had your yeah, that was not of laziness. Alex: I only got one, but that was once again 'cause of yeah. I would have been there on Saturday, but it like, my Tum Tum. Aaron: Well, on Saturday we did work out, Alex. We worked out at the convention at that at the little they had a bunch of spaces where they were just showing off equipment for manufacturers. So, you know what? Alex: yeah, you're right. Yeah. Yeah, because I did that for a I did that for an hour. it's it kinda has it. So like you get it's kinda funny. So it's my daily movement. You see when we sit down in the middle of the Foo Fighters concert. Right right here. Aaron: yeah. Yes. Yes. Alex: And then we stand back up for the end of it. Aaron: Yep. Alex: That's funny. That's funny. Aaron: Just play your hits. If you're gonna do acoustic, play February stars. Come on, Foo Fighters. Alex: it's funny. Aaron: that is funny. That is interesting. So, like, hey, again, like it's probably you're probably being very conservative when it comes to the your steps that you got. But that's fine. I'd rather go that way than the other way. grips are great. All right, wins and achievements. Alex: I'd say the big win was just getting a workout in on a trip and then not coming back super bloated from from overeating. Like what I was pr not that I don't know why I was surprised by this, but I was surprised by what Aaron already referenced. The like not feeling hungry after having that breakfast. Like I I don't know if I've experienced that on like a trip before. Where it's like, when's the next meal coming? It's just like, I'm good, I'm fine, I have energy. Cause like I still I had the meal. I also had like protein and I had like my cord nuts that I that I like I chew on like snacks like throughout the day. Aaron: Mm-hmm. Alex: So I was that that's that was like a win. Just that the total number of calories consumed was far less than I anticipated. Aaron: Yes. dude, a hundred percent. And like I it's just cause your body gets adapted to a certain amount of calories. And so I don't know if it's like a sh your stomach shrinking kind of thing. I have no idea. But I know your body at least is like, all right, this is the amount of calories I'm getting for the past several weeks, several months. And then we essentially for breakfast had I mean probably not a daily worth. daily calories worth of calories just in that meal, but significantly more than we would normally have for breakfast. Yes. Significantly Alex: More than our normal breakfast. Aaron: more. Exp for me, probably four times as much as I normally have for breakfast. Alex: Well d and I only ate half of my bur like my breakfast burrito. Like that's not normal. The one on Aaron: really? Yeah. Alex: on Sunday, which I was just like, I'm just not not hungry. Aaron: Yeah, dude, same thing. Like we so yeah, we went out to breakfast Sunday before we left. And I think I ate like half my skillet. And normally I would crush everything. Like there wouldn't have been the especially like the that's exactly what I was gonna say. That French Alex: whole thing, yeah. The the we had French toast left over too. Yeah. Aaron: toast would have never lasted normally. But I was like I had my one little it's almost like a French toast stick, really. Alex: It's I I think it was more weird too, 'cause I joined this Facebook group that's called Locked In. Aaron: Mm-hmm. Alex: Don't join it. I don't recommend anybody joining the group. It's it's a little bit annoying, but it's the internet. So that's why it's annoying. Like Aaron: Yes. Alex: just the number of people who are like, it's impossible to eat this amount of food. It's impossible to like do a calorie deficit. It's so hard to do this. I'll tell you what, eventually your what Aaron was just saying, I think your body just starts adapting to the way that you are consuming food. And so yes, it is hard because your body has adapted to copious amounts of food, multiple amounts of meals and I would say it takes I I know that Aaron and I have been doing this for like 60 days, but I've also been relatively healthy since November of last year. So 10 months. I would say that it Aaron: Yeah. Right. Mm-hmm. Alex: takes probably six months to twelve months before you start getting into like a comfortable groove of meals and total calories you're eating. It's just so annoying. Aaron: Yeah, I would even say it's less than that. I would say it's like if you are consistent on what you're doing for like three months, I I think that like that's the hardest part is like the first month. And then it's it it progressively gets easier and easier and easier. The first month sucks. But like you can do anything for a month. It's not come on, it's not that hard. Like the fact that people are still bitching about like it's not possible to to not eat like just have some have some fucking willpower, people. Yes. Alex: Some sort of willpower. Like and like just seeing people like, should I get the shot? I'm just like, man, I'll tell you what, the it makes me hate GLP ones more. Once again, I know that Aaron: Yeah. Alex: there is a like an importance to them, but the fact that the crutch exists creates another a crutch, essentially, like another option for people besides self-discipline. Which Aaron: Yes. Yes. I know. Alex: don't get me wrong, self-discipline is hard. I am struggling. Aaron: Yes. Alex: I'm struggling just as much as every other person, but it's not impossible. Aaron: Right, right. It just how badly do you want something? It was really comes down to. Is it more important that you get your dopamine hit of, you know, sugar l sugary, fatty meat like whatever it is, or losing weight. That's what it really comes down to. Alex: had that much fat in a long time. Friday night, man. Aaron: dude. Well, especially that that meat we ate was essentially I don't I don't know if there's much protein in that meat we ate. It was like 90% fat. we had some delicious, delicious Wagyu A5, which is just marbled beyond Alex: Yum, yum, yum. Aaron: whatever, and it's delicious. But yeah, I mean the thing I like about that doughman is I think I had like four or five of the little pieces, and I was like, I'm good. I don't I don't need more than that. It's probably less than like an ounce and a half of meat that we probably ate each. so I I I do like that a lot. any struggles or And or obstacles this week. Alex: Just the travel. And then I missed because I forgot. Like it's one of those things. I was like, I'll wake up in time. Forgot to set my alarm this morning. And so I woke up at like 5 30. I'm like, all right, well, not going to the gym today because the gym Aaron: Yeah. Alex: is the gym is packed. So today is the day Alex isn't going to be working out because I'm not going to go at six when there are eight million people clamoring for machines. So Aaron: Yeah. Yes. Alex: that but that kind of sucks as I hate I hate getting behind on workouts. I always like having like five by Friday so I can make decisions on Saturday, but now Saturday's like, sorry, basketball. Gonna have to work out. Dude, Aaron: How's your arm? Is your arm feeling better? Alex: weird. Like, I think it I don't know if it's yes, but I don't know if it's because yesterday I did something to my back, which is starting to feel better already. So I don't know if my my mind is just way more focused on the back and neck recovery, like this hurts to do. But Aaron: Yes. Alex: I haven't really been noticing as much recently, so Aaron: Were you doing like did you just sleep weird or do you like did you do shrugs? Alex: No, I was doing it's as I was trying to get the tricep extension behind my head, so pulling it Aaron: Yeah. Yes. Alex: up and I just felt something like, not even the part of my body that I was planning on exercising, and here we are. Aaron: What I do with that, do you keep it at the very bottom setting when you're pulling those up? Alex: I I could put no, I do, yeah, I do. Aaron: So I put it where it's like I can just I can grab Alex: So you just go like this? Aaron: it, turn around, and then I'll just like angle forward and go like that. Because I used to be at the bottom and then literally dude the exact same thing happened to me where I was pulling it up and it just like tightened my my what would that be? My trap tightened so bad. And I was just like where I just like, I'm done. I can't I'm not well Alex: Like never again. Yeah. Aaron: just like I couldn't work out anymore. It was it was like debilitated. I was like, my God. And so I just went straight into like the sauna and just like I mean it eventually got better, but and then I was just like, Can I can I just start this up way higher? So all I'm doing is I'm grabbing it, turning around, leaning forward and just going. And then like now that's how always do it. so much Alex: Yeah. It should do that. Aaron: so much better. but that's how we learn. Alex: and I know why I I mean, 'cause a lot of times like the ones that I'm u I'm using like single ones, so they only give you on the ones that I have. One Aaron: Mm-hmm. Alex: at the top, one at the bottom, and then I could I but I could potentially use the ones in the middle that are adjustable. Aaron: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Alex: Have to break some of my own gym etiquette rules, but I never want to hurt Aaron: I I Alex: my back again, so screw everyone. Aaron: I mean, am I a hero for what I did today? Yes, I am a hero. Alex: Rule number one is my rules do not apply to me. They just apply to everybody else. It's the first rule. Aaron: No, I went into the gym today and I walked in and my first thing was like the the straight arm black pull downs and so I just the there was one that was open and I went and gr like there was a rope that was on it so I just took it off and there was a guy next to me doing the the seated cable rows and then I he the just how he looked Alex: I'm using that man. Aaron: just how he looked at me no this is the see this is the benefit ox for looking mean looking mean and then being bigger I could tell he was annoyed, but I couldn't figure out why because I was like, he's already he's on that. What the what the hell? And so he got off and then walked to the one behind me and then put a rope and then started doing something. And I was like, good. But then he went from that and went to a completely different cable machine. And he was using three. He was using three cable machines. So that's where I said I was a hero today. I stopped that douchebag. Well, I guess I didn't because he still ended up still occupying three. it was and it was busy this morning. Like I was like, dude, you don't get it. If he If he would have said something like, Hey, I'm using that one. And then I saw if I would have noticed that I was like, Yeah, you can work. I would just be like, You can work in with me. I'm not moving. Like, sorry, dude. This it's Alex: Crazy dude. Aaron: an insane thing for you when it's busy this morning to use three cable machines at the same time. It's fucking crazy. but luckily again, I look like I'm a mean person. and so he didn't say anything to me. he he did what he was supposed to do, go somewhere else and it's ruin out someone else's day. Alex: Someone else's day. Aaron: Yeah. And so it's like, but you know it's just just another PSA. You're not allowed to use three cable machines at the same time. Alex: That's insane. Aaron: That's fucking crazy. so fuck that guy. I'd never seen him before. So another reason why I had no respect for him, probably new, probably an idiot. Alex: Yeah. Aaron: good, thanks for coming to the gym. Great. but please Alex: Yeah. Aaron: please never come again because you're you're a fucking moron. I'm always inclusive. Please everyone come to the gym. Just know the goddamn, we didn't film that thing. And it was really just be Alex: Just know that there are rules. Aaron: there are rules. Learn what the basic rules are, please. we we talked about it. Alex: Know your rules. You have to know your rules. Aaron: We didn't we do a video? We did a we did a podcast on things that are the most the most yeah, the most annoying things people Alex: A podcast on our top five annoying things here. Aaron: do at the gym. Watch that podcast, share it with your friends, anyone that's going to the gym or thinking about it. It just it'll save a lot of a lot of heartache in the future. Alex: And if anyone knows the moron that Aaron was describing, Aaron: Yeah. Alex: we'll set will one hundred dollars to the person who finds and shares that video with us and can confirm that it was in fact him. Aaron: I would love to give an eyewitness testimony what he looked like, but when they asked me what color Josh's car was, I said I said dark gray. He's like, it's white. I was like, Alex: Yeah. Aaron: I don't know, I think it's like a dark gray or something. He's like, no, dude, it's white. I was like, and this is why eyewitness testimony is the worst testimony. but yeah. So he I think he had brown hair. So if anyone knows anyone that has brown hair and likes to use three machines when it's a busy at the gym, that's that's the guy. Send them send them our send them Alex: Yep. Send him the video. Aaron: send the video. but yeah, that's good. I think everything else is great. We just proved that you can go on a vacation, have a good time, still get some workouts in, eat whatever you want, and then Alex g gained one and a half pounds. So there you go. dude, I've come back. I do have come back and weighed like eight pounds more before. so whatever. Yeah. It happens. Alex: Yeah. It happens. Yeah, it happens. Awesome pool. Thanks everybody for listening today. go be unsexy and we will talk with you all next week. Aaron: How does this end?
