- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:38Hi, it's Adam here. You're about to listen to a
- 0:41hypnosis session all about reframing trauma but also future
- 0:47worries, and I was working with a.
- 0:50Client that had. Memories that would haunt them
- 0:53about moments of betrayal or injuries or.
- 0:58Moments where? People that they thought they
- 1:01could. Trust either rejected.
- 1:02Them or. Tried to damage their.
- 1:04Reputation and these would haunt them and make them feel very
- 1:09stressed and very anxious, and they would also have thoughts
- 1:12about moments. Of horrible.
- 1:14Injuries like being impaled on railings or having a broken knee
- 1:18and because. Of that.
- 1:20That would send their body almost into a shock response
- 1:24where they would start shaking and and getting very anxious and
- 1:28it would ruin their ability to concentrate or even sleep.
- 1:31These things were. Happening now, what this session
- 1:34does is it uses elements of. Nested loops and levels of
- 1:39disassociation. It has an element of stage.
- 1:43Disassociation also known. As the element of a phobia
- 1:48technique, but it's actually used here for trauma and also
- 1:52submodality shifts. Submodalities is a term used in
- 1:55NLP to describe changing certain variables within a sensory
- 2:01predicate. So for example, if it's a visual
- 2:04memory, it might be seeing it smaller or bigger, brighter.
- 2:08Or darker colour. Black or white?
- 2:10Zooming in, zooming out, and what tends to happen with
- 2:14clients is that when you change certain submodalities, it can
- 2:18dial down the emotional intensity.
- 2:20Pretty quick. What can also happen is a form
- 2:23of reframing where you give something a different meaning,
- 2:27and what I found working with this client is a lot of these
- 2:30horrible traumatic things that happened seem to me as an
- 2:33outsider, like lucky escapes. They find found out who they.
- 2:38Who they can trust, who their true friends are.
- 2:40A relationship that didn't work out actually would have been a
- 2:44lot worse if they would have turned that into a marriage than
- 2:46if it just broke up at the point where it did.
- 2:49And even physical injuries, some of those injuries could have led
- 2:52to death and they didn't. So by giving it the frame of
- 2:55lucky escapes or near misses, that's an empowering frame that
- 2:59actually they could interpret that is that they're now here
- 3:03for a reason and this client was doing a very important job
- 3:06impacting people in very positive ways.
- 3:09And the injuries that they were worrying about don't have to be
- 3:13premonitions or warnings. They could just be scary
- 3:16thoughts that pop into their head, but they're not real.
- 3:19And again, when you give it a different meaning, like it's a
- 3:22prank, it's a misinterpretation. Actually, it's not even
- 3:26happening to them. Again, it can dial down the
- 3:29emotion quite a lot, so if you have traumatic memories from the
- 3:34past or intrusive thoughts that feel quite scary, you might get
- 3:38some value from this session. Please be aware though that the
- 3:41specific suggestions are built for the client that I was
- 3:45working with and they might not be so relevant for you.
- 3:48It's unlikely, for example, that you have intrusive thoughts
- 3:51about being impaled on railings or breaking a kneecap.
- 3:55That particular client I was working with did have those
- 3:58feelings. So you can just hone into any
- 4:00suggestions that are helpful. Ignore anything that isn't quite
- 4:04right, And at the same time, if you like the idea of working
- 4:07with me directly, there will be a link in the description where
- 4:10you're able to schedule a completely free consultation
- 4:14call to explore working with me. That would be over Zoom.
- 4:17It's about 30 minutes long. I can explain how I work and how
- 4:20I price what I do, and then it may be the case that we end up
- 4:24working together. For now though, find a quiet,
- 4:27comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 4:29Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in and as you
- 5:05breathe in, breathe in that calm feeling of relaxation.
- 5:14And as you exhale, just allow your eyes to close if they
- 5:20aren't already connecting you to that inward focus where it
- 5:31becomes easier to focus on the sound of my voice.
- 5:39Breathing in relaxation and exhaling tension.
- 5:45Each breath takes you deeper and deeper.
- 5:53Relaxed. And as you breathe in and
- 5:58breathe out, slow down the breathing deeper, slower,
- 6:05longer, and you might begin to notice a profound sense of calm
- 6:13starting to wash through your body, like a tide rolling softly
- 6:19over the sand. Almost like each breath creates
- 6:26distance between what was and what is, between memory and this
- 6:38moment. And you don't have to try to
- 6:43relax or chase relaxation, just be open to allowing it to find
- 6:52you a calm curiosity, expanding with every breath as your body
- 7:06recalibrates into a feeling of safety and security.
- 7:19And as your muscles relax, your mind begins to open like a lens,
- 7:27able to zoom in and zoom out, to focus and refocus.
- 7:37And maybe you're learning that perception itself is flexible,
- 7:44that old thoughts that are the same thoughts.
- 7:49It's not a prerequisite. Things can and do change.
- 7:57And I want you to imagine drifting to a place in nature,
- 8:04maybe a beach, maybe an open field, maybe a forest.
- 8:10But I want you to imagine there is a door there in nature.
- 8:15Not connected to a building, just a door.
- 8:40and you can notice the frame and the door and the material and as
- 8:46I count down from 5 to 1, you will imagine what it would be
- 8:51like to put your hand on the handle.
- 8:54Open the door, walk through the. Door and down some stairs into
- 8:59your own private theatre. Five hand on the handle 4
- 9:07turning the handle, 3 opening the door.
- 9:12Two walking through the. Door and one closing the door
- 9:16behind you. And imagine walking down a
- 9:20staircase down into your theatre where each step takes you deeper
- 9:26and deeper, relaxed. And as you walk down the stairs,
- 9:31feel that relaxation taking place.
- 9:34Feel that wonderful feeling of ever increasing relaxation,
- 9:45almost like your nervous system is calming down, resetting,
- 9:51finding peace and balance. And then imagine at the bottom
- 9:59of that staircase, walking to a comfortable chair in that
- 10:04theatre, a private theatre, you have it all to yourself.
- 10:11It's dark, it's quiet, it's comfortable.
- 10:15And this theatre isn't for actors, it's for movies.
- 10:21To see that large screen in front of you, on the screen
- 10:26ahead, old memories of what once were traumatic moments begin to
- 10:35play. Moments that once felt harsh,
- 10:42unfair, upsetting. But this time, you're not in the
- 10:49film. You're watching it calm, safely
- 10:57there from the audience, and maybe it's a memory of physical
- 11:03pain, like an accident. Or maybe it's a memory of
- 11:08emotional pain, like a break up, a betrayal, reputation, damage.
- 11:17But as you watch, you realise you're not just the audience,
- 11:24you have the control as to how you perceive this memory, this
- 11:31movie. And you can adjust the sound,
- 11:37dim the lights, even shrink down the screen to make it smaller.
- 11:44You can even pause it mid frame if you wish.
- 11:49Change the perspective. You can even animate it.
- 11:54Turn that memory into a cartoon, and as you observe, you start to
- 12:01realise these scenes are not happening to you anymore.
- 12:08They're just images. Moving images, stories and
- 12:13echoes of moments long since past.
- 12:22Keep your physical body there in the chair, but then imagine your
- 12:26imagination floating up to the projection booth and maybe you
- 12:32can see the projector like an old fashioned projector with
- 12:37reels of film spinning, gently, feeding the light through the
- 12:42lens. You have even more control now,
- 12:49even more than the director, because you can manipulate time
- 12:53itself. You can slow the memory down,
- 13:00you can reverse it or just snip away the parts that no longer
- 13:07serve you. I want you to imagine you are
- 13:15not just the director or the editor, but also with the power
- 13:21of special effects. And you can turn the scene into
- 13:26black and white or bright colours or something surreal.
- 13:33Or you can add music that completely changes the meaning,
- 13:42introduce absurdity. And each time you do it, imagine
- 13:50scratching acd of that old memory so that it doesn't quite
- 13:56play right anymore. And with each creative change,
- 14:03the emotional charge lessens, the body grows still, the heart
- 14:11slows down, and the mind remembers that these are just
- 14:18memories, representations of the past, not the past themselves.
- 14:29And now float up as though you're rising through the
- 14:33ceiling of that theatre, drifting higher and higher until
- 14:38you can see all the screens of your life playing at once.
- 14:45And maybe see every memory that you once considered traumatic.
- 14:51Moments that once defined your fear of pain.
- 14:58Things that led you to question whether you can trust other
- 15:03people. But from this higher place,
- 15:07looking down at all of those screens, you can see the through
- 15:14line connecting them all, A strand that connects all of
- 15:19these narratives. What if each 1A fork?
- 15:26In the road. The point that created a
- 15:30parallel universe, but in your reality, each one was a lucky
- 15:35escape, a near miss, a gentle nudge steering you towards
- 15:44wisdom, experience and resilience.
- 15:51And what once felt like punishment or unfairness or
- 15:56injustice could now be perceived as protection.
- 16:03What once felt cruel now seems curiously kind, because you got
- 16:12something from every one of those moments.
- 16:16Perhaps awareness, empathy, depth, or a level of wisdom only
- 16:25possible through experience. And I want you to imagine going
- 16:35up even higher, accessing a different dimension, and from
- 16:41even higher still you become the witness.
- 16:46Not the body, not the mind, but the consciousness watching it
- 16:51all unfold. And here there is no threat,
- 16:58only understanding, only patterns revealing their
- 17:04purpose. And you see that your mind
- 17:10created certain warnings, not to torment you, but to protect you.
- 17:19They were the smoke alarm, not the fire.
- 17:25And now that you've learned to see them as warnings, not
- 17:29premonitions and not threats, your body can respond
- 17:34differently. No need to react, no need to
- 17:41feel fear, trepidation. They can quiet down and you can
- 17:49thank them sincerely and allow them to rest.
- 17:56And now take on that perception for being in the theatre and
- 18:01this time see on the screen not something that has happened, but
- 18:06just a thought that comes up every now and then.
- 18:11A damaged knee or perhaps an accident there on the railings
- 18:21on that metal fence. And those same alterations you
- 18:26made to your memories can also be used with those thoughts of
- 18:34things that haven't even happened.
- 18:39Imagine zooming out, seeing that knee like you're on the moon,
- 18:44seeing that knee from a telescope, and notice how it
- 18:48feels insignificant. Or perhaps imagine those
- 18:54railings where the railings are not made of iron or metal, but
- 19:00soft rubber or even marshmallows.
- 19:05I want you to see that when you change the content, the
- 19:10perception, and even the meaning, what once caused an
- 19:16intense visceral reaction now dials all the way down to
- 19:23something harmless. I want you to imagine they're in
- 19:30the theatre, looking at those thoughts through the eyes of
- 19:35Salvador Dali. Have certain things bend like a
- 19:41melting clock, or happen in strange, absurd, surreal ways.
- 19:50And as you do so, the thought loses all of its power.
- 20:01And I want you to get a feeling. The way focus goes, energy flows
- 20:10and you've only focused on a tiny glimpse of a thought of
- 20:17what there is a tiny possibility of happening.
- 20:22But when you look at before and after, if in doubt, zoom out.
- 20:30You could see then these things could have entirely different
- 20:35connotations. Imagine seeing that broken leg,
- 20:42but it's not your leg, it's the leg of a mannequin.
- 20:47Or perhaps see that body on the railings and it's not you.
- 20:54It's an elaborate prank designed to fool someone.
- 21:00When you change the meaning, you change the emotions.
- 21:06When the past becomes a lucky escape and a premonition of a
- 21:11warning becomes something silly and insignificant, you get to
- 21:18dial down all of those intense emotions.
- 21:25And I want you to imagine doing that.
- 21:26Now. Imagine seeing a dial, A gauge,
- 21:35a button of some kind that you can dial down the emotional
- 21:39intensity. You've extract the wind,
- 21:43extracted the wisdom from the past, but you don't need to hold
- 21:49on to any emotions. I want you to get a sense.
- 21:55Then, because you've extracted the wisdom, you can dial down
- 22:00the emotions. And a warning is not a warning
- 22:06if it isn't real. A threat that was a joke,
- 22:13misinterpreted, had no real danger.
- 22:18Only the connotation made it feel that way.
- 22:23Because if your unconscious is trying to protect you, allow it
- 22:28to protect you in you useful ways.
- 22:34And the best way your unconscious and body can help
- 22:39you is to help you sleep better to dial down the amount of
- 22:45adrenaline and cortisol. To release you.
- 22:50From a prison of fatigue and drained energy.
- 22:58Because when you are alert, energized and vitalized, you can
- 23:05mitigate risks more easily. You can make quick decisions to
- 23:12avoid undesirable outcomes. So ask that part that's been
- 23:18warning you, trying to protect you, if it's willing to protect
- 23:22you in a new way by helping to quiet down that fight or flight
- 23:32response, enable you to relaxed and heal and rest, And in doing
- 23:40so, give you the clarity, the cognitive bandwidth to evaluate
- 23:48more genuine risks, not false alarms.
- 23:54And once that part agrees, I want you to see those traumatic
- 24:02thoughts changing all by themselves.
- 24:07A broken knee might see you stretching, see you exercising
- 24:14in a particular way. An image of you on a railings
- 24:19might mean you decide not to drive while tired or to avoid
- 24:28certain places. And we need to get a feeling
- 24:33that when you are alert and vibrant, bad things are more
- 24:41easily avoided because you retain all the wisdom from your
- 24:46past and with it the ability to avoid previous pitfalls.
- 24:55And what if those near misses, those lucky escapes, were
- 25:00essential to protect your future self?
- 25:05And as you extract that gratitude, that feeling of being
- 25:10aligned with your intuition, then it's time to leave the
- 25:16space above the theatre, the projection booth and even the
- 25:21seats all merging to become one. All parts working to keep you
- 25:27safe, relaxed and in that place of positive focus.
- 25:34All parts combined. Now start to leave the theatre,
- 25:38climb up the stairs, open the door and find yourself out there
- 25:44in nature. And as you do so, feel that
- 25:52something has shifted, Less troubled by your past and less
- 25:59worried about your future. Feel resourceful, empowered, a
- 26:05new sense of ease and comfort. And then allow yourself to float
- 26:11all the way back to your present.
- 26:15Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 26:19nose. And as you return, you realize
- 26:24this has been a journey within your imagination, a journey of
- 26:29thoughts within thoughts, dreams within dreams, and ideas within
- 26:34ideas. And as you.
- 26:38Return, connect and calibrate. Start to feel more optimistic
- 26:44about the future, knowing that very soon you'll be sleeping
- 26:50better and feeling rejuvenated and energized once more.
- 26:58Starting to count to awaken you 123.
- 27:02Waking up 456. More alert 7. 8 Open your eyes.
- 27:09Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
