- 0:20Speaker 3: I heard you talking about going to see Split Ends.
- 0:22Speaker 3: You'll love him And I think Tim Finn's in his
- 0:24Speaker 3: early seventies. But how about Mick Jagger. We were talking
- 0:28Speaker 3: about him on our show today at eighty two are
- 0:30Speaker 3: releasing not only a new single, but a new album.
- 0:34Speaker 3: He's a life and the old guy.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Yet yeah, he's looking good as well. Ah, Like I
- 0:38Speaker 2: saw the three of them, the three remaining members, this
- 0:40Speaker 2: three am I imagining that one of them is missing,
- 0:43Speaker 2: one of them is missing.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Hey, Jamie, Charlie Charlie Watt the drama unfortunately passed away.
- 0:48Speaker 3: And Keith Richards, as I said today, he has an
- 0:50Speaker 3: aged in the last thirty years because he looked eighty
- 0:53Speaker 3: when he was for Flight Right.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Yeah, they're looking great in their little he has too. Now,
- 0:58Speaker 2: why are you excited about this worldwide protein boom?
- 1:02Speaker 3: Well, I'm very excited about it. And I was just
- 1:04Speaker 3: talking to a guy who's just back from the States,
- 1:06Speaker 3: a guy I use for a lot of my dairy
- 1:08Speaker 3: commentary Mike McIntyre from Jarden. So I'm sort of paraphrasing
- 1:13Speaker 3: what he said, but look, it's great that this protein
- 1:16Speaker 3: boom for Kiwi farmers, especially dairy farmers, our biggest sector.
- 1:20Speaker 3: And the irony here is, believe it or not, Heather,
- 1:23Speaker 3: we've got overweight Americans to think, courtesy of probably eating
- 1:28Speaker 3: too many hamburgers with our and inverted commas lean grinding
- 1:32Speaker 3: beef in them. A boom has developed around supplying high
- 1:36Speaker 3: protein calories for those who are losing muscle mass from
- 1:40Speaker 3: taking these weight weight loss drugs such as ozepic, and
- 1:44Speaker 3: Mike told me that up to I think it was
- 1:46Speaker 3: like nineteen percent of US adults had already tried or
- 1:51Speaker 3: existing customers of these weight loss drugs. So we've got
- 1:54Speaker 3: this whole new business in supplying high quality protein for
- 1:59Speaker 3: these people so they don't lose muscle mass when they're
- 2:02Speaker 3: losing weight. Some of his other observations, Heather, if you
- 2:05Speaker 3: don't mind me just going on. Recently the focus was
- 2:10Speaker 3: on snacking. This year's theme in the States is very
- 2:13Speaker 3: much about calories delivered from protein. Several of these weight
- 2:18Speaker 3: loss products are coming off patent. There's up to fourteen
- 2:21Speaker 3: companies currently developing generics. They're going to get a whole
- 2:24Speaker 3: lot cheaper, and the delivery methods are going to be
- 2:26Speaker 3: a lot more efficient and a lot more user friendly.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I pills rather than injections way, which is the liquid
- 2:34Speaker 3: by product of cheese or caseine production has doubled in
- 2:38Speaker 3: price from eight thousand to seventeen thousand US dollars per
- 2:42Speaker 3: metric tone and Mike said he was talking to a
- 2:45Speaker 3: couple of cheese companies in the US who said, somewhat
- 2:48Speaker 3: perhaps tongue in cheek, they are now protein plays with
- 2:52Speaker 3: the cheese buy products. So the way that they get
- 2:54Speaker 3: when they're making the cheese to put into these protein
- 2:58Speaker 3: bars and all that sort of stuff for muscle building powders,
- 3:03Speaker 3: that is where the money is. And look, honestly, this
- 3:06Speaker 3: is just great news for the New zealandery.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, how cool is that? Hey, thank you, Jamie, appreciate it.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Look after yourself. Jamie MacKaye hosts of the Country.
