- 0:00Speaker 1: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money's Friday Drinks,
- 0:20Speaker 2: the podcast for millennials who drink red wine.
- 0:22Speaker 3: If wed wine.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Podcast for millennials who drink red wine. Now this week,
- 0:29Speaker 2: I am as always joined by my epic team of
- 0:32Speaker 2: She's on the Money legends. We have Ryan John, Jessica Ricci,
- 0:35Speaker 2: and we also have the always loved Georgia King in
- 0:39Speaker 2: the office.
- 0:40Speaker 4: How come she always love.
- 0:44Speaker 2: I guess because I see her less. I'm always like, oh, Georgia,
- 0:47Speaker 2: I mean Ryan, I.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Mean, I was going to say that sounds offensive. It
- 0:52Speaker 4: just straight up is offensive.
- 0:53Speaker 2: It was meant to be Okay, that's fine. This week
- 0:57Speaker 2: I reckon. We had a pretty epic week, guys. We
- 0:59Speaker 2: had a money diary on Monday, our nineteen year old
- 1:01Speaker 2: super saver, who honestly was an epic example of someone
- 1:04Speaker 2: who's taken their money story and a pretty tough start
- 1:06Speaker 2: in life. I made a really great money story out
- 1:09Speaker 2: of it. She has some really great habits and I
- 1:11Speaker 2: loved that money diary. And then on Wednesday we got
- 1:14Speaker 2: to hang out with our friends Firm Shopback and talk
- 1:16Speaker 2: about breaking up with bad financial habits, which I felt
- 1:20Speaker 2: was really well timed to give him. It is on
- 1:22Speaker 2: a Sunday, Valentine's Day.
- 1:26Speaker 4: What have you got a plan for Valentine'sday? Because you've
- 1:27Speaker 4: been sending texts over there and you've got something on.
- 1:30Speaker 2: My girlfriend Steph asked if I wanted to go do
- 1:32Speaker 2: a Gallantines at a winery. And I think that I'm
- 1:35Speaker 2: totally up for that because I'm not really a Valentine's person?
- 1:39Speaker 4: Are you a Valentine's Day person? Georgia?
- 1:41Speaker 5: Do you think I am?
- 1:42Speaker 4: No, I'm not. Jess you.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Oh, she.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Like Jess is the sappiest person. I love her. What
- 1:52Speaker 2: are you doing? Jess?
- 1:54Speaker 3: We were discussing a picnic in the park.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Oh, she's so cute.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah, you're grow out that you're too young.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Last, Jess is a reasonable age. She's going to say,
- 2:04Speaker 2: I have no spring chicken. You're calling yourself. I'm not
- 2:09Speaker 2: a spring chicken.
- 2:10Speaker 4: And the old people would use the term spring chickens.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Oh my god. Back to me telling you guys what's
- 2:13Speaker 2: going to happen today. We also have back by popular demand,
- 2:17Speaker 2: Ryan John's top money wins from the Facebook group.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Yeah, what are they so? Mel is moving out? Of
- 2:24Speaker 4: her house in Paran so she can live in Pran
- 2:28Speaker 4: to live in a lesser house, so she can put
- 2:29Speaker 4: her money into a business, which is yes, jess is
- 2:32Speaker 4: going to explain how she got a free TV.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that for her.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Yeah, Victoria, you last week called up a phone company
- 2:39Speaker 4: and got yourself a better deal.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that was pretty good.
- 2:42Speaker 4: Well, Caitlin this week called Telstra and saved I can't
- 2:44Speaker 4: let them about to say this out loud, two thousand,
- 2:47Speaker 4: seven hundred and eighty seven dollars on a massive paper
- 2:50Speaker 4: just by calling up and explaining and getsh.
- 2:53Speaker 2: I need to know what that has evaded me in
- 2:55Speaker 2: the group. I thought I was all over my group, and.
- 2:58Speaker 4: This lady named when a Savvy. I'm if anyone knows
- 3:00Speaker 4: how to save money, it's when a Savvy.
- 3:02Speaker 2: She's actually one of my favorite. She's on the money.
- 3:05Speaker 2: Is we go way back?
- 3:06Speaker 4: Don't we really?
- 3:07Speaker 2: Well?
- 3:07Speaker 4: She is getting free domestic travel for the next two years.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Oh go, So that's in the money winds coming up
- 3:13Speaker 4: as well.
- 3:13Speaker 2: All right, I want to hear all about that. But
- 3:15Speaker 2: before we get there, Jessica, what are we drinking this week?
- 3:19Speaker 3: This week, we have something that's a little out of
- 3:22Speaker 3: my unrefined wheelhouse.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Which is why we're having it this week, because Jessica
- 3:27Speaker 2: said she didn't like it, so that's why we picked it.
- 3:29Speaker 3: We're becoming cultured here in the office, straying slightly from
- 3:32Speaker 3: our throwback for trashy roots for a beautiful little pino
- 3:37Speaker 3: noir by Little Yearing. You're a little Yearing, Little Yearing.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Is that Yearing Station or is that different?
- 3:43Speaker 2: I think it's from Yaring Station. Is it made by
- 3:46Speaker 2: Yearing Station?
- 3:47Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 3:47Speaker 3: You go.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Excellent winery in the Yarra Valley.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Honestly stunning wine. It's one of my favorites. It's not
- 3:54Speaker 2: too expensive either. I think it's under twenty bucks.
- 3:56Speaker 4: It tastes a little bit different coming out of the
- 3:57Speaker 4: plastic cup that we found.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, look, it's probably not ideal out of plastic, but
- 4:02Speaker 2: I rate it still.
- 4:03Speaker 3: It smells delicious, Like as someone who's not a big
- 4:06Speaker 3: red drinker, it smells beautiful. I did have a sip,
- 4:09Speaker 3: you did, like, She's all.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Right, Well, that's what we're enjoying while we share our
- 4:12Speaker 2: money wins and confessions this week. And just since you're
- 4:16Speaker 2: already in front of the mic, you've got a money
- 4:17Speaker 2: win or confession to share with us.
- 4:19Speaker 3: I have a confession this week, and if you've been
- 4:21Speaker 3: keeping an eye on our Money Wins thread, you might
- 4:25Speaker 3: have already heard my tale of tragedy. However, on Monday morning,
- 4:29Speaker 3: I slept in and woke up really late and missed
- 4:33Speaker 3: my train and breakfast. So I bought myself a muffin
- 4:37Speaker 3: at the station to make myself feel a little bit better.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Six dollars fifty later, and it was basically like a
- 4:43Speaker 3: Wooly's mud cake that had been crushed.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Into the shape of I'm sorry, I don't need it,
- 4:47Speaker 2: but Wooly's mud cake. I will stand that every.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Day, Like I love a Woolyes. Not at eight thirty
- 4:53Speaker 3: in the morning when I'm rushing, you know, down, not.
- 4:56Speaker 4: For six dollars, especially our office. She's in the money
- 4:59Speaker 4: is in Colin Street.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Yeah is literally I could have I could have got
- 5:04Speaker 3: a lone croissant for a comment.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Or literally a thousand other things in the CBD of Melbourne.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Because I was already running late, I was like, I'm
- 5:11Speaker 3: just gonna grab something that I can shove in my
- 5:13Speaker 3: gob while I'm literally running down.
- 5:14Speaker 4: What would happen if you were like considering your boss
- 5:16Speaker 4: is Victoria relevant not a whole lot.
- 5:18Speaker 2: But also my favorite thing is I bake these breakfast
- 5:23Speaker 2: cookies because her dietary life, and they're all full of oats,
- 5:27Speaker 2: and they're in the cupboard, and just knows they're in
- 5:28Speaker 2: the cupboard, and yet she still chose today.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Really, those are really good. We should drop that recipe
- 5:34Speaker 3: at some point. If anybody's interested, let us know.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I make literally an oatmeal cookie. This is me
- 5:39Speaker 2: promoing my own product. It's an invention product. Like you,
- 5:43Speaker 2: it's a product I'm probably gonna sell it. Ryan John
- 5:46Speaker 2: and I this week we launched the business business. We
- 5:49Speaker 2: launch in my business another one. It's going to be
- 5:51Speaker 2: the oatmeal cookie recipe. It's kind of a mixture of
- 5:55Speaker 2: a lot of different oatmeal cookie recipes. But the main
- 5:58Speaker 2: thing I wanted to achieve was a whole serving of
- 6:00Speaker 2: oats in one cookie, so that I could eat that
- 6:03Speaker 2: instead of having porridge in the morning. Genius. So I
- 6:07Speaker 2: make it with roasted apples, have you.
- 6:09Speaker 4: That's also nice. That is a nice touch.
- 6:11Speaker 2: That's actually pretty good. They're really good.
- 6:13Speaker 3: I've had them before. Maud cake muffin was not a
- 6:16Speaker 3: win for me in the morning. I'm sorry Georgia's time.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Hello everyone. Okay, So I have a money win.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I came prepared.
- 6:23Speaker 5: I've written down my notes, so it could be it's
- 6:27Speaker 5: not really a money win yet, it could be a
- 6:29Speaker 5: money win.
- 6:29Speaker 2: I've started right going downhill really quickly.
- 6:33Speaker 3: It's like Ryan John's twelve month.
- 6:41Speaker 5: So basically every day I'm writing down everything that I
- 6:45Speaker 5: purchase in notes on my phone, and I feel like
- 6:48Speaker 5: by writing down every day purchases, I'm going to be
- 6:52Speaker 5: more accountable. I'm not going to want to add extra
- 6:55Speaker 5: money to that list. Do you guys think this is
- 6:57Speaker 5: actually a good idea. I'm one day two, so it's
- 7:00Speaker 5: early days.
- 7:01Speaker 4: This is from Little Things.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Things by One Direction actually yeped. I like three bar
- 7:13Speaker 3: that song, and I was like, I don't think this
- 7:14Speaker 3: is a song.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I actually really appreciate that, because I would have been
- 7:20Speaker 2: pretty frustrated if that was the song stuck in my
- 7:23Speaker 2: head for the rest of the afternoon.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I'm with Georgia, though, I think that's that's definitely a win.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I think that's a win, and I think it's actually
- 7:30Speaker 2: a really good little activity to kind of reflect on
- 7:32Speaker 2: what you're up to. Maybe not for the entirety of
- 7:35Speaker 2: a year, but like maybe.
- 7:36Speaker 5: For a couple of books or in February right now,
- 7:38Speaker 5: so to help people on their way.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Right absolutely, and the community is doing really well with
- 7:43Speaker 2: frugal February. Actually, I'm enjoying the threads. I've been checking
- 7:46Speaker 2: in every week thus far. It's been one week, so
- 7:48Speaker 2: I've checked in one time. But I really like what
- 7:52Speaker 2: people are doing. And this week I've got a couple
- 7:55Speaker 2: of money wins for you. My first money win is
- 7:57Speaker 2: I actually painted my own nails again next week. It
- 8:00Speaker 2: is not the first time you guys have heard that
- 8:02Speaker 2: this was a money win, but I recently introduced Jess
- 8:06Speaker 2: to getting your nails done at the nail salon, and
- 8:09Speaker 2: I feel like it's an expensive habit for both of us.
- 8:11Speaker 4: And why did you get her onto that?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Because she'd never had it, she'd never had it done,
- 8:19Speaker 2: and I thought, let's go.
- 8:20Speaker 3: It's really nice money when she took me and paid
- 8:22Speaker 3: for my nails.
- 8:22Speaker 4: How kind money loss. We should start a group called
- 8:25Speaker 4: Victoria enables people message in and say what you want
- 8:28Speaker 4: to do and be will just take you.
- 8:30Speaker 3: Today, I never felt more like a classy lady to
- 8:32Speaker 3: be honest, like I don't want to give up this.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Feeling she can putting her hand in every Instagram post.
- 8:38Speaker 2: If you go through the She's on the Money Instagram,
- 8:41Speaker 2: you'll see that there is a high percentage of like
- 8:45Speaker 2: product posts. We probably didn't even have a sponsor, and
- 8:48Speaker 2: she's just like strategically holding it so you can see
- 8:50Speaker 2: her nails with stars on it. Am I wrong, Jessica
- 8:54Speaker 2: es do on my page? It's very jess. I like it. Anyway,
- 8:59Speaker 2: that was my money win. This week. I've painted my
- 9:01Speaker 2: nails and for the last couple of days, which is
- 9:04Speaker 2: all of frugal feb, I have taken lunch to work
- 9:07Speaker 2: and consumed it, which jess is pretty rare for me
- 9:10Speaker 2: because sometimes I actually see my lunch and say I
- 9:13Speaker 2: want something different and then go to the shop.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Anyway, she's been strong, She's been really strong girl.
- 9:19Speaker 4: Do you think twenty seven dollars a day? Right? Do
- 9:22Speaker 4: you think people could easily spend twenty seven dollars a
- 9:24Speaker 4: day on a morning coffee lunch.
- 9:26Speaker 3: You know, bite candle work.
- 9:28Speaker 2: But you know what we're gonna do. We're gonna ask
- 9:30Speaker 2: Georgio who's been tracking or spending well, is it going?
- 9:34Speaker 5: It's going Okay, as I said, it's day two. But
- 9:38Speaker 5: I'm doing the same thing that you're doing. I keep
- 9:41Speaker 5: on taking tuna and rice to work every day, and
- 9:43Speaker 5: every day I look at it and I'm like, tomorrow
- 9:46Speaker 5: I will eat you, and then I go on by sushi,
- 9:47Speaker 5: which is the same. It's just wrapped differently. It's so true,
- 9:53Speaker 5: but in my head, I'm like five dollars there. It's
- 9:54Speaker 5: not that much, but now I'm going to add.
- 9:56Speaker 2: That to the ate.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Well, the reason I say twenty seven dollars is because
- 9:58Speaker 4: we learned the other week that's ten a year.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Get out of twenty seven dollars fifty a day. If
- 10:05Speaker 2: you can save that, that's ten thousand dollars in a year.
- 10:07Speaker 2: And I feel like that adds up really quickly.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Because, yeah, a couple of coffees and lunch and stuff.
- 10:10Speaker 2: It's very easy for it to just you can't get
- 10:13Speaker 2: I don't believe. And I work in the Melbourne CBD,
- 10:15Speaker 2: so there are going to be a lot of people
- 10:16Speaker 2: that are like, oh, lunch is like five bucks. But
- 10:19Speaker 2: there are a lot of people who would go out
- 10:21Speaker 2: and just spend fifteen dollars on lunch like that. I
- 10:23Speaker 2: would say is probably about average, unless you are my dad,
- 10:26Speaker 2: in which case his workplace has a chef at it
- 10:30Speaker 2: and five dollars a day to get like a full
- 10:34Speaker 2: chef prepared beautiful lunch.
- 10:36Speaker 3: That is what we aim can we get?
- 10:39Speaker 2: No, no, no, no no. He works for a very
- 10:42Speaker 2: big company, so it is probably we've.
- 10:44Speaker 4: Been doing some hiring recently. Is that how far downalyst
- 10:47Speaker 4: is a chef?
- 10:49Speaker 2: I just think probably one of the last times. Let's
- 10:52Speaker 2: get to it after we eat that. Okay, so all
- 10:54Speaker 2: the other needs that we have, but yeah, I think
- 10:56Speaker 2: it's really easy to get past that. But I feel
- 10:59Speaker 2: like rito bowls are really great way to have something
- 11:03Speaker 2: yummy a work that by the time lunchtime comes you
- 11:06Speaker 2: actually want to eat. The lunch to be brought to
- 11:08Speaker 2: work also super easy to.
- 11:10Speaker 4: Prep Do you feel like having yummy food? Like? The
- 11:13Speaker 4: reason we go and buy stuff and don't eat the
- 11:15Speaker 4: stuff we brought is because the stuff we brought it's
- 11:17Speaker 4: a bit basic, and we go, Oh, I feel like
- 11:18Speaker 4: a treat. If you bring good food to start with,
- 11:21Speaker 4: it's easier.
- 11:22Speaker 2: And if I've got a burrito bowl at work and
- 11:24Speaker 2: I know I'm looking forward to it, it's actually pretty
- 11:27Speaker 2: simple to put together. But it's yum at lunchtime. Like
- 11:30Speaker 2: I love guok anything with guck. I'm all over us.
- 11:32Speaker 2: So maybe we'll drop the recipe for a good little
- 11:35Speaker 2: burrito bowl. So maybe next week we can all meal
- 11:37Speaker 2: prep yum so many How do you what a little
- 11:40Speaker 2: frugal fed them? I love it all right, Ryan John,
- 11:44Speaker 2: Have you got a personal money win or confession.
- 11:46Speaker 4: I've got a confession, and it's also a bit of
- 11:48Speaker 4: a gripe. I'm probably about us Jess.
- 11:53Speaker 2: This time.
- 11:53Speaker 4: I don't want to sound like a grinch, but I
- 11:55Speaker 4: feel like there's two things businesses need to do online businesses.
- 11:59Speaker 4: It's like edike it when you like go to unsubscribe
- 12:02Speaker 4: from their email. You gotta let us unsubscribe, you know.
- 12:04Speaker 4: It's like that unwritten rule you click unsubscribed, we're going
- 12:07Speaker 4: to stop annoying you. The second one, and this is
- 12:09Speaker 4: my confession, that's what I mean. Yeah. The second one
- 12:12Speaker 4: is I thought I canceled a subscription and the company's
- 12:18Speaker 4: actually made it really difficult to cancel. And I put
- 12:21Speaker 4: that in the same category as when you say I
- 12:23Speaker 4: want to cancel. The company should just be really nice
- 12:25Speaker 4: about it, make it really easy, and maybe you go
- 12:27Speaker 4: back in the future. So in November I got this subscription.
- 12:31Speaker 4: I feel like and shamee. Yeah, I'm the only guy
- 12:33Speaker 4: and the word I was going to say this it's Lumen,
- 12:35Speaker 4: Who's like, it's skincare? Oh yeah, yeah yeah. And because
- 12:38Speaker 4: I was getting married and I thought, oh well, if
- 12:40Speaker 4: for a few months, I'll at least try to slap
- 12:42Speaker 4: some moisturizer on this thing.
- 12:44Speaker 2: By the way, guys, this is another episode of Friday Drinks.
- 12:47Speaker 2: Ryan's mentioned that he got married. Also, he dropped the
- 12:51Speaker 2: wedding video this week into.
- 12:52Speaker 3: The Facebook that nearly made me cry.
- 12:58Speaker 2: I also cried like Bridget was cute at such her
- 13:00Speaker 2: vows Yeah she is, but I love that. I mean,
- 13:04Speaker 2: you didn't drop it in the group, you dropped it
- 13:05Speaker 2: in general, and I'm putting you.
- 13:06Speaker 4: Put in the group. So thanks for that, and thanks
- 13:08Speaker 4: for all the nice comments. And maybe we'll do hey on,
- 13:10Speaker 4: here's an idea. Shall we do an episode on like
- 13:13Speaker 4: eloping and saving on weddings because my wedding was super cheap?
- 13:16Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, yes, that's what you tell us how
- 13:18Speaker 2: much you spent? Can we get permission from Bridget to do.
- 13:21Speaker 4: That if you say a number else they hire a lower.
- 13:23Speaker 2: Okay, well we're not going to do that yet. It
- 13:24Speaker 2: will be on the episode, so watch out for Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 4: So I went to unsubscribe for the lumen thing and
- 13:30Speaker 4: I thought I had but then the moisturizer keeps turning
- 13:34Speaker 4: up and I was like, oh my god, I'm paying
- 13:36Speaker 4: for this stuff I'm not using, so that's my big
- 13:38Speaker 4: money loss. So I thought I unsubscribed and I hadn't.
- 13:41Speaker 4: So the product kept turning up, and it turns out
- 13:43Speaker 4: I've been paying extra this whole time for stuff I
- 13:45Speaker 4: didn't want to use. So I went in and it
- 13:47Speaker 4: turns out that when I clicked unsubscribe, it has this oh,
- 13:50Speaker 4: I you sure, We'll send a confirmation email so you
- 13:52Speaker 4: can confirm your unsubscription. And again they made it really difficult.
- 13:56Speaker 4: And again I didn't mind the product, and maybe if
- 13:59Speaker 4: I wanted something in the future, I will, but that's
- 14:00Speaker 4: just really like, yeah, rand of my gears, and there
- 14:03Speaker 4: was this the one last button, and this really pissed
- 14:06Speaker 4: me off. It said it's like two options. It says, oh,
- 14:11Speaker 4: you want to cancel your subscription? Was this a mistake?
- 14:13Speaker 4: Do you want to keep it? Or do you not
- 14:16Speaker 4: care about your skin? And they made me tick that button.
- 14:20Speaker 4: This is a business, not like a computer game.
- 14:22Speaker 2: I find that really rude. I don't really sorry that,
- 14:24Speaker 2: Like if I'm leaving, you don't make me feel bad
- 14:26Speaker 2: about it, because I'm definitely not coming back. Like but
- 14:28Speaker 2: if I couldn't afford it for a couple of months
- 14:30Speaker 2: and I was just stripping back my budget because I
- 14:32Speaker 2: needed to build my emergency fund back, Like, you are
- 14:35Speaker 2: not getting my business back if you're going to do
- 14:37Speaker 2: that kind of.
- 14:37Speaker 4: Stuff one hundred percent. And not that we want to
- 14:39Speaker 4: keep plugging the business Bible, but I want to do
- 14:42Speaker 4: an episode on our business podcast that we're about to
- 14:45Speaker 4: start in. It's a really big deal now about having
- 14:48Speaker 4: a good returns policy, taking care of customers on the
- 14:50Speaker 4: way out and not just the way And because like
- 14:52Speaker 4: you said, V maybe on the track you want to
- 14:54Speaker 4: go back, maybe a friend will ask a recommendation. I
- 14:56Speaker 4: was about swear then, not these guys, because that were
- 14:59Speaker 4: massive jacks.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like it. I actually had a really
- 15:02Speaker 2: similar experience this week trying to cancel a booking system
- 15:06Speaker 2: that we have for shees on the money so that
- 15:08Speaker 2: people can book times in our calendars. It's been pretty expensive,
- 15:12Speaker 2: and we're genuinely not using it because now Jess literally
- 15:15Speaker 2: does everything and I'm like, oh, send them the link,
- 15:17Speaker 2: and she's like, oh no, no, no, I already booked them in.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, well, we don't need.
- 15:20Speaker 4: To be paid paying for that linking.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So to unsubscribe, I actually had to go on submit
- 15:27Speaker 2: a ticket to unsubscribe and then have a back and
- 15:30Speaker 2: forth conversation with them about why I was unsubscribing and
- 15:34Speaker 2: trying to get rid of this subscription.
- 15:36Speaker 4: I don't need to explain it, just let me go.
- 15:38Speaker 2: Do you know how easy it was to sign up?
- 15:40Speaker 2: Two clicks and I was like, cool, I want this package,
- 15:43Speaker 2: here's my credit card details, set it up, use it.
- 15:46Speaker 2: But to get rid of it it took It was
- 15:48Speaker 2: a circus anyway.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Yep.
- 15:50Speaker 2: I'm on your train of being frustrated with that.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Choos to that. Let's drink more red coming up in
- 15:55Speaker 4: a second, we'll go through the money wins. And I've
- 15:56Speaker 4: also got gripe with a lady named Claire who's in
- 15:59Speaker 4: the group I believe bullying me.
- 16:00Speaker 2: Claire is bullying you.
- 16:01Speaker 4: Thank you for being on my side.
- 16:03Speaker 2: You feel personally victimized by Claire.
- 16:04Speaker 4: I do, and it's time to get her back. You're
- 16:06Speaker 4: about to hear revenge.
- 16:16Speaker 2: So now that we're back, I think it's actually time
- 16:19Speaker 2: to dive straight into the community wins of the week,
- 16:22Speaker 2: which we have had an overwhelming number of messages about
- 16:25Speaker 2: because people are loving Ryan's wraps of the week and
- 16:29Speaker 2: you pulling out your favorite posts. So Ryan, dive straight in.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Can you please tell us what your favorite posts of
- 16:35Speaker 2: the week are in descending order? Oh h, here we go.
- 16:39Speaker 3: George has the headphones this week. Now she knows what's.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Do you see how much more fun it
- 16:44Speaker 2: is knowing get what you're dancing?
- 16:47Speaker 5: Now?
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 16:47Speaker 4: What does descending order mean?
- 16:50Speaker 2: From the highest to the lowest?
- 16:52Speaker 3: I think I actually from would go up? Do we
- 16:55Speaker 3: want to build to the best?
- 16:58Speaker 5: Would be one?
- 16:59Speaker 2: Like would be going down to number one?
- 17:02Speaker 3: No, descending would be going down from worse best to worse.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Oh see, I'm with Victoria. I was thinking seven to one.
- 17:11Speaker 3: In means going up? Yeah, I see you mean from one?
- 17:17Speaker 2: So you're wanting to start with the best. What kind
- 17:19Speaker 2: of podcast is that you guys are? Will just just listening,
- 17:23Speaker 2: all right, Jessica, whatever she said, we want you to
- 17:26Speaker 2: tell us the best one last. All right, it's your
- 17:29Speaker 2: time to show.
- 17:29Speaker 4: It, Melina says, money when I've been living on my
- 17:36Speaker 4: own for some time in beautiful Paran, which is a
- 17:38Speaker 4: lovely end of town but very expensive prime for the
- 17:42Speaker 4: local the Paran market, Yeah, she said, I really do
- 17:47Speaker 4: value and love my place, but I'm putting my business first.
- 17:51Speaker 4: This year, I've now signed up with another chick and
- 17:54Speaker 4: we're moving into a sharehouse. I'm saving one hundred and
- 17:56Speaker 4: eighty dollars a week on rent and I'm putting that
- 17:58Speaker 4: into my business. Exciting, Yeah, she said. That new place
- 18:02Speaker 4: is even closer to my work studio, so I can
- 18:04Speaker 4: walk and also save on public transport. I want to
- 18:07Speaker 4: get my own place eventually because I value my personal
- 18:10Speaker 4: space and you don't need to justify that. I get it.
- 18:12Speaker 4: But she goes for a little bit. I'm all in
- 18:14Speaker 4: on the business. I'm saving some money. I'm doing it.
- 18:17Speaker 2: What a hustle out of ten money win, Melina.
- 18:20Speaker 4: If you want to message us or just tell us
- 18:23Speaker 4: what your business is, will give you a shout out somewhere, because.
- 18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll actually the small business shout out that Jess
- 18:28Speaker 2: and I organize each week Georgia actually does the copywriting
- 18:31Speaker 2: for that guy. So each and every single week in
- 18:33Speaker 2: your ears you get a really good love letter written
- 18:36Speaker 2: by Georgia King. It's usually pretty satirical, but I really
- 18:39Speaker 2: loved it. But as a part of that, we have
- 18:42Speaker 2: the Small Business shout Out because we know that small
- 18:45Speaker 2: businesses don't have sponsorship budgets, so we give them an
- 18:48Speaker 2: epic space. We've got what seventy thousand people now that
- 18:52Speaker 2: get our emails. So if you want to be a
- 18:54Speaker 2: part of that, shoot your business through to Georgia at
- 18:56Speaker 2: She's on the money, dot com, dot a you and
- 18:58Speaker 2: you'll be in for a chance for having your business
- 19:00Speaker 2: featured on the idea.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I feel like business Bible. Also for those people hustling,
- 19:04Speaker 3: great place to go. We launched that this week, so
- 19:06Speaker 3: we did Facebook and Instagram check it out, Join us,
- 19:10Speaker 3: Join us.
- 19:10Speaker 2: We're a business and we're for our community as well.
- 19:13Speaker 2: So yeah, that's all the thugs out of That's all
- 19:15Speaker 2: we've got.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Jess Davis says, money. When I scored a sixty five
- 19:20Speaker 4: inch TV for free because I help someone move, what.
- 19:25Speaker 3: I think someone meant anyone for helping me move. Usually
- 19:28Speaker 3: it's like a pizza.
- 19:28Speaker 4: Yeah. Well usually I've.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Just just got us pizza to Yeah, I even have
- 19:32Speaker 2: to help anyone.
- 19:33Speaker 4: I think they were downsizing and you know, like some
- 19:36Speaker 4: older people like I just don't need all that stuff.
- 19:38Speaker 4: And you're there and she goes, you know, we'll take that.
- 19:42Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 19:43Speaker 2: That's an epic.
- 19:44Speaker 4: Georgia Kellor good name keller Her? Maybe Kellor her? I
- 19:50Speaker 4: got a sleep spray in my Mecca beauty loop. Can
- 19:53Speaker 4: someone explain what they sucks?
- 19:55Speaker 3: Really good?
- 19:56Speaker 2: You just already knows. I'm obsessed with it.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I fell in love with a bit exy when purchased
- 20:01Speaker 4: at full.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Price forty five dollars bottle for some stuff that you
- 20:05Speaker 2: spray on your pillow and you don't even get to
- 20:07Speaker 2: enjoy it puts you to like there is not long
- 20:10Speaker 2: term sustainable enjoyment in that product.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Well, Georgia said, I googled around and found it online
- 20:14Speaker 4: on another site, tried heaps of random promo codes, ended
- 20:18Speaker 4: up getting it for half price.
- 20:19Speaker 2: I love it. I also know what that sweep spray
- 20:22Speaker 2: Isn't I use it too?
- 20:24Speaker 4: Does it destroy your linen?
- 20:26Speaker 5: No?
- 20:27Speaker 4: Could I sound any more like an old dad?
- 20:29Speaker 2: So fast?
- 20:32Speaker 6: All right?
- 20:33Speaker 4: Whener savvy. Now am I saying her name right? V?
- 20:36Speaker 4: I don't know because she's Yeah, apparently you guys went
- 20:40Speaker 4: way back.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not her real name, that's just your online name.
- 20:43Speaker 2: She's a queen and she's a small business owner.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Last year, I was supposed to go to Europe. Weren't
- 20:48Speaker 4: we all? Says Brener As. I have a Quantus travel
- 20:53Speaker 4: I have a Quantus flight credit because you know I
- 20:55Speaker 4: was going over to seas. I gave you credit, but
- 20:56Speaker 4: you can't use it. It's ridiculous, So she said, she
- 20:59Speaker 4: called the travel agent and they said that they've changed
- 21:02Speaker 4: the terms of the credit so now she can use
- 21:03Speaker 4: it on domestic and they now have not one year,
- 21:07Speaker 4: but two years to use it. And because the flights
- 21:10Speaker 4: the year were kind of spinny, now she's got all
- 21:12Speaker 4: these credit for many little trips away within Australia, so.
- 21:17Speaker 2: She can use it.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I'll be supporting local too, like if you go somewhere
- 21:20Speaker 3: small and like not small necessarily, but like local in Australia.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, definitely worthy. If you have a credit with
- 21:26Speaker 2: them as well, and you haven't inquired, go ahead ask
- 21:30Speaker 2: can you use it domestically? And then maybe you've got
- 21:32Speaker 2: a couple of little weekend trips up this sleeve.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Yeah. Now, last week, during this episode Friday Drinks Victoria,
- 21:38Speaker 4: you caught up a phone provider and got a better
- 21:40Speaker 4: deal live on the podcast.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Was incredible pressure.
- 21:43Speaker 4: I can't believe you didn't get another phone, not even for.
- 21:48Speaker 2: A dollar, guys, not even for a dollar.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Caitlin heberd as money. Also, I'm apologies for butchering every
- 21:54Speaker 4: single name on today.
- 21:55Speaker 2: Not even meant to be using their surnames. But no, no,
- 21:59Speaker 2: we like to keep our community our community. You're not
- 22:02Speaker 2: in it. You don't know.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Then, okay? In that case, it starts with a K
- 22:07Speaker 4: in rhymes with ratelin money win. After multiple complaints to
- 22:12Speaker 4: Telstra about having no coverage and no response, I was
- 22:15Speaker 4: just about to give up, but I've filled in an
- 22:17Speaker 4: online form with the ombandsman, and can I just I
- 22:21Speaker 4: think I said this thing before. As soon as you
- 22:22Speaker 4: would use the word ombudsman, you've got the power, they said.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Because the Telstra coverage wasn't great, the phone bill was
- 22:29Speaker 4: dropped to a sixty five dollars non locking contract and
- 22:32Speaker 4: has fifteen dollars worth of credits a month, which brings
- 22:35Speaker 4: it down to fifty dollars a month instead of one
- 22:37Speaker 4: hundred and sixty four. So over the next two years,
- 22:40Speaker 4: I'll be saving two thousand, seven hundred and thirty six dollars.
- 22:45Speaker 4: Get around it.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I love that money win, but I'd also still like
- 22:51Speaker 2: to point out that I only pay thirty five dollars
- 22:53Speaker 2: a month.
- 22:54Speaker 3: The ebook is free. It's on the website.
- 22:57Speaker 2: The ebook to negotiated that a deal is on the website.
- 23:00Speaker 2: Download it and I've had success.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Well, way to poopoo on Rateland's money. Speaking of bullying,
- 23:09Speaker 4: I've been bullied in the group.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Yeah, let's snee by Claire.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Claire with the meme challenge. She saw that post.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Oh I did see She saw your meme explanation and
- 23:19Speaker 2: she's raised you a better meme.
- 23:21Speaker 4: So I tried to explain a meme on the podcast,
- 23:23Speaker 4: which is very hard to do, and she said, Hey, Ryan,
- 23:25Speaker 4: why don't you try this?
- 23:26Speaker 2: So you know what I'm going to do, explain the meme.
- 23:29Speaker 4: No, I'm going to turn the tables.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Oh we are that's hi.
- 23:35Speaker 4: This is Claire Seeking, Hey Claire, this is Ryan John
- 23:38Speaker 4: Victoria Devine.
- 23:41Speaker 6: Oh my gosh, I'm pats.
- 23:46Speaker 2: We didn't know we were going to call you. But Hi, Claire,
- 23:49Speaker 2: how are you hi?
- 23:50Speaker 6: I'm so good. I feel like I have been blessed
- 23:53Speaker 6: by an absolute wonder woman. This on this ship Tuesday afternoon.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that's not dramatic at all. I'm just
- 24:01Speaker 2: having a cash water in the studio and Ryan was like,
- 24:04Speaker 2: put your headphones on, We've got business to do. And
- 24:05Speaker 2: I was like, okay. So he said that.
- 24:08Speaker 4: He's turning the table and turning the tables. I feel
- 24:11Speaker 4: like I've been bullied and called out in the group. So, Claire,
- 24:14Speaker 4: I challenge you off the cuff right now on the podcast,
- 24:18Speaker 4: explain which is being recorded? You're on right now but recording.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Can you, Claire, explain the meme that you posted in
- 24:27Speaker 4: the Sheares on the Money Facebook in an group in
- 24:30Speaker 4: an audio setting? Your time starts now?
- 24:32Speaker 2: How we do with release?
- 24:35Speaker 6: How you've turned the table so quickly? Yes, So the
- 24:38Speaker 6: meme it originates from the original rhyme John Carming the
- 24:42Speaker 6: surfer And there's two sets of ways. The first set
- 24:45Speaker 6: of wave has the check engine light and the second
- 24:48Speaker 6: wave has the coolant temperature light.
- 24:53Speaker 4: Yeah, we didn't know what that was.
- 24:54Speaker 6: I feel like I should.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Serious you picked the wrong So then with the lights
- 25:01Speaker 4: in the water, then then what's happening? What's it implying?
- 25:04Speaker 2: Implying?
- 25:05Speaker 6: So we've got we've got the surfer at the bottom
- 25:07Speaker 6: set of the waves, and because the waves are so huge,
- 25:09Speaker 6: each wave is just a bigger financial problem. But that's
- 25:13Speaker 6: why we have our emergency to make sure we can
- 25:15Speaker 6: ride out the waves and be successful.
- 25:17Speaker 2: At the end of the day, Claire, you just got
- 25:19Speaker 2: hired ass on the money meme explainer us.
- 25:24Speaker 6: Yes, I've finally got a drop can excel at.
- 25:29Speaker 2: I'm surprised her and John didn't have a sassy sound
- 25:31Speaker 2: effects so along with that.
- 25:32Speaker 6: To be honest, I was about to say, it's been
- 25:34Speaker 6: like really hidden the mark with those sound effects. I
- 25:36Speaker 6: was expecting a little fall from them.
- 25:38Speaker 2: You welcome, Ryan John.
- 25:40Speaker 4: What what kind of sound effects do you need?
- 25:44Speaker 6: Like, yeah, like a party popper round of a clause.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Around the flaws really really would have gone fart, Ryan John.
- 25:51Speaker 6: Yeah, Ryan John.
- 25:53Speaker 2: Any space station over there with nothing to show for it,
- 25:56Speaker 2: and I'm just having what's on the computer. I'm on
- 25:58Speaker 2: Claire's team. That was very loud and poorly timed.
- 26:06Speaker 3: My ear drums.
- 26:07Speaker 4: Yeah, you blame christ O connell I just found that
- 26:10Speaker 4: in his fold up because we're in that studio. Thank Claire,
- 26:14Speaker 4: thanks for your time tonight.
- 26:16Speaker 6: Thank you for blessing me with your phone call and presence,
- 26:19Speaker 6: and thank you Victoria and everybody else. And if Lucy
- 26:22Speaker 6: the sheeper doodles in there, give me you're not.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Allowed in the studio because that's very serious. Are you
- 26:29Speaker 2: a part of our budget and casually masterclass?
- 26:31Speaker 6: Unfortunately I'm not at the moment.
- 26:33Speaker 2: You are now we will pick you up with a
- 26:36Speaker 2: budget and cashually master class logging, or get Jess to
- 26:39Speaker 2: shoot that through. So if you could just message Ryan
- 26:42Speaker 2: your email address, we will see your SAPs a little.
- 26:46Speaker 2: Thank you for explaining the.
- 26:47Speaker 6: Meme the number one meet him explainer. Thank you very much.
- 26:51Speaker 2: You're welcome. It's how we explaining. Bye bye before head off, Jess,
- 27:01Speaker 2: what happened this week?
- 27:03Speaker 3: This week we got a DM from a beautiful follower
- 27:05Speaker 3: who has her own business, which I believe she started
- 27:08Speaker 3: after listening to the pod which we love hearing those stories,
- 27:11Speaker 3: by the way, keep them coming well.
- 27:12Speaker 2: She listened to the Side Hustle episode and wrote us
- 27:15Speaker 2: a beautiful handwritten card.
- 27:17Speaker 3: It touches our hearts.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Aye.
- 27:19Speaker 3: I thought that's okay, But she reached out and she
- 27:22Speaker 3: was like, hey, like, I just wanted to send you
- 27:23Speaker 3: guys something as a little thank you, I'm from my business,
- 27:26Speaker 3: and we were like, oh, no problem. She sent it over.
- 27:29Speaker 3: She got every single member of our team everyone these
- 27:32Speaker 3: beautiful little personalized pieces. So I'm giving Georgia's live on
- 27:36Speaker 3: cara Is podcas.
- 27:40Speaker 2: But she had put together literally a present for everyone,
- 27:43Speaker 2: including Lucy. Lucy got a customized dog bowl, Ryan John
- 27:48Speaker 2: got his customized coffee cut.
- 27:50Speaker 4: Got to keep cut with my name.
- 27:51Speaker 2: And it was beautiful and we all got key rings
- 27:56Speaker 2: to try this so sweet away anyway, So her business
- 28:01Speaker 2: was called only the Sweet Stuff And if you guys
- 28:05Speaker 2: follow Lucy the sheeper Doodle on Instagram, you would have
- 28:08Speaker 2: seen her bowl tagged on Instagram recently. But we'll do
- 28:12Speaker 2: a post on our story today about it because genuinely,
- 28:14Speaker 2: it was the sweetest gift very and like, I loved
- 28:18Speaker 2: that she actually handmakes them herself and she reached out
- 28:21Speaker 2: to us and started it because of the pod is.
- 28:24Speaker 2: That's not the sweetest story, I don't know what is.
- 28:26Speaker 2: And to be honest, it's why Ryan John and I
- 28:28Speaker 2: are genuinely so excited about the Business Bible, because the
- 28:31Speaker 2: Business Bible is literally just this like collective of small
- 28:35Speaker 2: businesses that are all going to come together to support
- 28:37Speaker 2: each other, and we are going to give you the
- 28:38Speaker 2: tools and resources that you need to actually smash your
- 28:41Speaker 2: business goals. And I actually can't wait, Like I'm so
- 28:44Speaker 2: passionate about it.
- 28:45Speaker 4: So what she's on the money is to your money.
- 28:48Speaker 4: The business Bible is about your side, hustle, your side
- 28:51Speaker 4: or whatever you're doing.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Yes, yep, Ryan, we were talking about this earlier this week,
- 28:55Speaker 2: and I'm just so sick of this, like, oh, if
- 28:57Speaker 2: you've got a business, when are you going to make
- 28:59Speaker 2: your first meal? Like that is not what business is about.
- 29:02Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of them. I don't know
- 29:03Speaker 4: if I get it more because I'm a dude in
- 29:04Speaker 4: my algorithm, but they're really like browie and techy in
- 29:07Speaker 4: a bit gross.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Yeah, like are you cracking ten K?
- 29:11Speaker 4: I get up at four am and drink fifteen green
- 29:13Speaker 4: smoothies just to get my mindset right.
- 29:14Speaker 2: I drink for eggs like I have it all right, attack,
- 29:21Speaker 2: But I genuinely feel like people aren't celebrating the side
- 29:24Speaker 2: huzzle and teaching us Well, okay, if you're going to
- 29:26Speaker 2: start a side huszle how much do you actually have
- 29:28Speaker 2: to put a side for tax? And what does that
- 29:29Speaker 2: look like? And like what can I do to be better?
- 29:32Speaker 2: And like I just want to celebrate the small businesses
- 29:34Speaker 2: in our community and Ryan John and I are going
- 29:36Speaker 2: to do just that. But I think that is enough
- 29:39Speaker 2: from us today. So just before we head off, we'd
- 29:42Speaker 2: like to acknowledge and pay respects to Australians, Aboriginal and
- 29:45Speaker 2: to Irrestraate islander peoples, the traditional custodians of the lands,
- 29:49Speaker 2: the waterways and the skies all across Australia. We thank
- 29:52Speaker 2: you for sharing and for carrying on the land which
- 29:54Speaker 2: we are able to learn. We pay our respects to
- 29:56Speaker 2: elders past and present, and we share our friendship and
- 29:59Speaker 2: kind The advice shared on She's on the Money is
- 30:03Speaker 2: general in nature and does not consider your individual circumstances.
- 30:07Speaker 2: She's on the Money exists purely for educational purposes and
- 30:10Speaker 2: should not be relied upon to make an investment or
- 30:12Speaker 2: financial decision. And we promise I am actually an authorized
- 30:16Speaker 2: representative of Australia Specific Funds Management Proprietary Limited ABN three
- 30:21Speaker 2: four one three two four six three two five seven,
- 30:23Speaker 2: AFSL three three nine one five one Georgia. Did I
- 30:26Speaker 2: do all right? Problems? I'm really proud of that one.
