- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, my name's Santasha Nabananga Bamblet. I'm a proud yr
- 0:04Speaker 1: the Order Kerni Whoalbury and a waddery woman. And before
- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I
- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming
- 0:22Speaker 1: through as this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing
- 0:27Speaker 1: and the storytelling of you to make a difference for
- 0:30Speaker 1: today and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it. She's on the Money, She's on
- 0:37Speaker 2: the Money. Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money,
- 1:00Speaker 2: the podcast for millennials who want financial freedom. Today, my friends,
- 1:04Speaker 2: it's Friday, which means it is time to get our
- 1:07Speaker 2: little team together and celebrate you our incredible She's on
- 1:11Speaker 2: the Money community. Today we're going to be sharing our
- 1:13Speaker 2: favorite money wins, or Miss Jess Gricci across the table
- 1:16Speaker 2: from me is sharing your favorite money ins. We'll be
- 1:18Speaker 2: helping to answer a juicy money dilemma, which this week
- 1:21Speaker 2: is all about how to improve your credit score, and
- 1:24Speaker 2: we're going to be unpacking something that you slid into
- 1:26Speaker 2: our dms about all about how to support your friend's
- 1:29Speaker 2: side hustle. So, guys, how has the week been?
- 1:33Speaker 3: Beck?
- 1:33Speaker 2: You're here? Have you had a good week? What have
- 1:35Speaker 2: you been up to?
- 1:36Speaker 4: I've had a really good week. The weather's beautiful and
- 1:39Speaker 4: I'll tell you what. I'm a little bit sleepy, but
- 1:41Speaker 4: like in a good.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Way, in a satisfying way, like in a summer sun,
- 1:44Speaker 2: like in a.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Summer sun, seeing mates, doing some going to the gym
- 1:48Speaker 4: once every bi annually and.
- 1:51Speaker 2: I feel good to the gym. No, I cannot relate
- 1:53Speaker 2: to that. Miss Jess Grici, how are you? How's your
- 1:56Speaker 2: week been? Are you exhausted as well? I feel like
- 1:58Speaker 2: you're going to be And I feel like as.
- 2:00Speaker 5: Well because this week's a short week for those in
- 2:02Speaker 5: VIC and maybe no, not yourself else but other stuff.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But it's definitely not in Queensland because you know what
- 2:09Speaker 2: I did on Monday? I had, oh my gosh, this
- 2:11Speaker 2: is so fancy. Get this. I had a speaking event
- 2:13Speaker 2: for Lareel. I love lare Matrix, their hair care brand. Anyway,
- 2:17Speaker 2: I went and I spoke to all of their salon
- 2:19Speaker 2: owners in Queensland. On Monday, and I booked it so
- 2:23Speaker 2: far out, so it was all booked and you know,
- 2:25Speaker 2: we'd organized it, and I was so excited about it,
- 2:27Speaker 2: and they've given us like their schedule and when you
- 2:29Speaker 2: book a speaking event, they'll be like, yep, it's on
- 2:31Speaker 2: you know, this Monday at this time, and you go, yep,
- 2:33Speaker 2: I can make that ten out of ten. So I
- 2:35Speaker 2: booked it in just super excited to be working for Laurel, Like,
- 2:40Speaker 2: that's so wild that I didn't see in my calendar
- 2:43Speaker 2: that it was a public No I had to fly
- 2:47Speaker 2: And this is not me complaining by any stretch. I
- 2:49Speaker 2: feel so privileeged. I met so many nice people, but
- 2:53Speaker 2: it meant that I had to fly up on Sunday
- 2:55Speaker 2: because the speaking event was for breakfast on the Monday.
- 2:58Speaker 2: And I was like cheers at the public holiday. Didn't
- 3:01Speaker 2: plan that one well in saying that by the time
- 3:03Speaker 2: I flew back to Melbourne and home, it was five pm.
- 3:07Speaker 2: And because it was a pubably holiday, there was no trip.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Oh that is very good. So that was a very
- 3:11Speaker 2: good money in. But I just feel like we have
- 3:13Speaker 2: been as a team go go for the last three weeks,
- 3:17Speaker 2: like we have just wrapped up our International Women's Day
- 3:20Speaker 2: events and I've never had more fun in my life. Like, oh,
- 3:24Speaker 2: it was the best Beck you got to come to
- 3:25Speaker 2: the Melbourne one. Yeah, it was so fun. Oh my gosh.
- 3:29Speaker 4: It was so nice, like meeting the community and actually
- 3:31Speaker 4: like talking to people. And I'm shocked by how many
- 3:34Speaker 4: people could recognize my face because I know that we're
- 3:38Speaker 4: purely audio.
- 3:40Speaker 2: There's also d been posting about you on the internet.
- 3:42Speaker 2: That's so nice. It's just so nice. It was a
- 3:46Speaker 2: really really fun, wholesome day. Yeah, Yess, did you have fun?
- 3:50Speaker 6: Ah?
- 3:50Speaker 2: I rage yes. I feel like we dragged Jess to
- 3:52Speaker 2: every state.
- 3:53Speaker 5: Loved it, great time. It was really I can't believe
- 3:56Speaker 5: how many people we went. We had over fifteen hundred
- 3:58Speaker 5: attendees across the states, which is an insane amount of people,
- 4:02Speaker 5: so many more people than last year. And just the
- 4:05Speaker 5: kindness and how open and lovely everybody was. You know,
- 4:08Speaker 5: people say to us, it's really strange to like see
- 4:11Speaker 5: us in person, because normally we're just devoicing, they ears.
- 4:14Speaker 5: But it goes the other way too, Like normally for us,
- 4:16Speaker 5: you're on the other side of a screen, like I'm
- 4:18Speaker 5: talking to on Instagram or victorious talking to you on
- 4:20Speaker 5: Facebook like whatever. It is so for us to be
- 4:22Speaker 5: able to hug you and talk to you. It's just
- 4:25Speaker 5: as exciting.
- 4:25Speaker 2: And we know, I don't know if that sounds creepy
- 4:29Speaker 2: because obviously the community is quite large, but like Jess
- 4:32Speaker 2: and I are obsessed with you guys, So like, if
- 4:34Speaker 2: you've been dming us, I'm really sorry, but we have
- 4:37Speaker 2: clicked on your profile picture, like we have seen your
- 4:39Speaker 2: bio if your profile was public, I've seen your cat,
- 4:42Speaker 2: I've sen your dog, like, and I feel like so
- 4:44Speaker 2: many people came up and they're like, oh, hi, like
- 4:46Speaker 2: so nice to meet you, and I was like, oh,
- 4:48Speaker 2: obviously you two. They're like, oh, my name's Anika, I
- 4:50Speaker 2: DM you. Sometimes I'm like, oh my god, yeah, how's
- 4:52Speaker 2: your dog? Yeah, like talking about the situation that we
- 4:56Speaker 2: might have been there, it's just so wholesome and it
- 4:58Speaker 2: feels like we're meeting all of our best friends, Like
- 5:01Speaker 2: it's something that I said to you our team. I
- 5:04Speaker 2: was like, this is going to be so important for
- 5:06Speaker 2: us moving forward because as a podcast, like right now,
- 5:09Speaker 2: there's four of us in the room, so there's just
- 5:11Speaker 2: there's Beck, there's myself, and there's the gorgeous and a
- 5:13Speaker 2: Lisa who keeps us on track, which we are wildly
- 5:16Speaker 2: off at the moment. But it's one of those things
- 5:19Speaker 2: where it really reignites our team's passion as well. Like
- 5:23Speaker 2: sometimes content creation can become really monotonous and like you go,
- 5:27Speaker 2: oh my god, what are we going to talk about
- 5:28Speaker 2: next week? Far Okay, something in the media is going
- 5:31Speaker 2: on about souper, let's talk about that. But just seeing
- 5:33Speaker 2: your faces having these gorgeous conversations, I feel like it
- 5:36Speaker 2: really motivates us and reignites that passion, even just for
- 5:41Speaker 2: us to go, oh my god, let's give those guys more,
- 5:45Speaker 2: Let's give them what they deserve. And it's just it's
- 5:47Speaker 2: my favorite thing in the entire world, getting to share
- 5:50Speaker 2: life with you guys. It's the best thing ever. I
- 5:52Speaker 2: can't believe it's my job. Let's move on before we
- 5:55Speaker 2: get there, though. At the end of the show, a
- 5:56Speaker 2: few of you in Melbourne might remember and Alisa floating around.
- 6:00Speaker 2: She is our gorgeous producer and she was getting like
- 6:02Speaker 2: little vox pops. She obviously had her recording gear there
- 6:05Speaker 2: and got some comments from you guys, and so we're
- 6:07Speaker 2: going to drop those at the end of this episode,
- 6:09Speaker 2: So if you want to hear from you, you're on
- 6:11Speaker 2: at the end of the EPP. Guys.
- 6:13Speaker 5: How exciting.
- 6:14Speaker 2: But let's move on because Jess, one of my favorite
- 6:17Speaker 2: parts of the week is talking about our community's money wins.
- 6:20Speaker 2: What have you round up for us?
- 6:22Speaker 5: Firstly this week, I have a money win from Meghan,
- 6:24Speaker 5: who said I got a thirty dollars rebate from our
- 6:26Speaker 5: council for putting in a compost bin. Every money win matters,
- 6:29Speaker 5: and we've just moved into our first home.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Oh, I'm going to check the council website. I was
- 6:33Speaker 2: just thinking that.
- 6:34Speaker 5: I was like, I don't have a compost bin. Do
- 6:35Speaker 5: I get money, Mack, because I would get a compost
- 6:38Speaker 5: bin and you would like money back because you're.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Jess exactly right.
- 6:42Speaker 5: So we'll be jumping on my local website to check
- 6:44Speaker 5: that out. My next money win comes from Chelsea, who said,
- 6:48Speaker 5: after hearing she's on the Money's advice about speaking to
- 6:50Speaker 5: a broker to find out what I should be doing
- 6:52Speaker 5: to afford a property. I was thinking I was a
- 6:54Speaker 5: few years away. I reached out and I just found
- 6:57Speaker 5: out that I'm basically ready house hunting.
- 6:59Speaker 2: Here I can That is literally my favorite thing ever sting.
- 7:03Speaker 2: So many people actually come in our doors Xella money
- 7:06Speaker 2: and they're like, yeah, cool, I just want to like
- 7:08Speaker 2: know where I'm at for the next twelve months and
- 7:11Speaker 2: with you know, some careful planning and maybe a subsidy
- 7:13Speaker 2: that you didn't realize you could access or a scheme
- 7:15Speaker 2: that exists. Often you're actually further ahead than you think
- 7:19Speaker 2: you are.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Quick intermission. The cooling in our studio is broken. We've
- 7:22Speaker 5: complained about this the last couple of weeks. And one's
- 7:24Speaker 5: literally like forty degrees in very very hot. It's very tasty.
- 7:28Speaker 5: But someone just brought us around some ice cream.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah, on a little trolley like with what was it
- 7:34Speaker 2: like a speaker on the front. It's all decorated with Yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 2: I'm ever in the office for party days. I'm here.
- 7:41Speaker 2: I'm glad you got to see one. And yes, you
- 7:44Speaker 2: always post about the mor on Instagram and I'm always like,
- 7:46Speaker 2: excuse me, did this happen literally the second I left
- 7:49Speaker 2: the office, And you're always like, yes, it's literally to
- 7:50Speaker 2: celebrate your departure. But let's get back on the community
- 7:55Speaker 2: Money Wins train.
- 7:56Speaker 5: Keep eating though, please, oh we will, don't you worry
- 7:59Speaker 5: if you hear little nibble in the background, that's just me.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Sorry.
- 8:01Speaker 5: But My next money win comes from Ashley, who said
- 8:04Speaker 5: I just got a refund eighty dollars from Disney Plus.
- 8:07Speaker 5: I couldn't watch my favorite show. It just wouldn't play
- 8:10Speaker 5: contacted support and they couldn't fix the issue, so they
- 8:12Speaker 5: refunded me the rest of my yearly subscription that I
- 8:15Speaker 5: renewed in November.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Do you get to keep the subscription? I'm assuming she does.
- 8:19Speaker 2: I would assume so too. Oh sit, Wow, good customer service.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Would you give up your favorite show on Disney Plus
- 8:26Speaker 5: for a free year of Disney.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Plus so you can't like it?
- 8:28Speaker 7: Done?
- 8:29Speaker 5: You can't watch NCIS or like whatever your favorite show is?
- 8:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I would take it. Yeah, Tayler, Yeah interesting? Interesting,
- 8:36Speaker 2: I name a woman of many compromises.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Yeah, not much. She wouldn't do it for a free
- 8:39Speaker 5: year of Disney Plus. My next money win comes from Emily,
- 8:43Speaker 5: who said money win. I used the voucher for Alice
- 8:45Speaker 5: KT from the International Women's Day event, and because I
- 8:48Speaker 5: live in Queensland where lskd HQ is, I could select
- 8:51Speaker 5: Pick three pickup so I didn't have to pay for shipping.
- 8:55Speaker 5: She picked two items that totaled thirty dollars, so she
- 8:58Speaker 5: was zero dollars out of pocket.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Yeah, and that was amazing things with so I'm obsessed.
- 9:03Speaker 2: You guys already know that. I am so excited about
- 9:06Speaker 2: the International Women's Stay show bags, even though there's none left.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And one of the things that we were so particular
- 9:11Speaker 2: about when putting them together is I don't want your
- 9:14Speaker 2: ten percent off voucher for when I spend over one
- 9:17Speaker 2: hundred dollars, like, put that in the bin. So when
- 9:20Speaker 2: we were putting things together, we obviously only worked with
- 9:23Speaker 2: brands that you guys would be obsessed with and ones
- 9:25Speaker 2: that we already love. And you guys know that we
- 9:27Speaker 2: love LSKD. Yeah, user the code Victoria for ten percent off,
- 9:31Speaker 2: You're welcome. But also they put literal thirty dollars vouchers
- 9:35Speaker 2: into our gift bags this year with them spend. Is
- 9:39Speaker 2: that not super generous? Yeah? Yeah, it was actual sick
- 9:43Speaker 2: And obviously she didn't even have to pay postage. So
- 9:45Speaker 2: that's the best money when I've heard in my life.
- 9:47Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 9:48Speaker 4: Do you guys get those nude wine vouchers or like
- 9:50Speaker 4: constantly I'm.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Already have to spend like one hundred and fifty dollars, Like,
- 9:54Speaker 2: just get in the bin. Stop trying to sell me
- 9:56Speaker 2: shitty wine. Stop it moving around long.
- 10:00Speaker 5: My next money win comes from Mariam, who said she
- 10:03Speaker 5: found out about Spotify Duo and now we're both able
- 10:06Speaker 5: to save four dollars a month each. Now someone else
- 10:09Speaker 5: said they found out about Spotify Student, which saves them
- 10:12Speaker 5: six dollars a week. So I feel like if you're
- 10:14Speaker 5: paying for Spotify, you shouldn't be paying full price. Because
- 10:17Speaker 5: there were so many wins this week from people about Spotify,
- 10:19Speaker 5: like I don't know if they've just done a new
- 10:20Speaker 5: has it.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Been like a campaign or something recently.
- 10:23Speaker 5: There were so many of them, so I thought I
- 10:25Speaker 5: would just mention it Spotify Student, Spotify Family, Spotify goodness
- 10:29Speaker 5: knows what.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Else not sponsored. But this is probably not ethical to say,
- 10:33Speaker 2: but I just give my friends the long game that too. Yeah,
- 10:37Speaker 2: that's fair. It's not very good. So when my husband
- 10:40Speaker 2: goes on a run, he'll always take his phone and
- 10:42Speaker 2: listen to music, right, And that often happens on a
- 10:45Speaker 2: Saturday or a Sunday morning when I'm at home, like
- 10:48Speaker 2: cleaning or something, and so that it's actually quite detrimental
- 10:51Speaker 2: because he'll kick me off Spotify, and I'll kick him
- 10:53Speaker 2: off Spotify, and then he'll kick me off Spotify. And
- 10:56Speaker 2: anyway works really well until you come into a situation
- 11:00Speaker 2: where you both want to use it at the same time.
- 11:02Speaker 2: It's like a fight to the death for the Spotify. Yeah, leadership. Well,
- 11:05Speaker 2: that's my last money win for the week. Guys, I
- 11:07Speaker 2: love that. All right, let's go to a really quick
- 11:09Speaker 2: break and on the flip side, we're going to talk
- 11:11Speaker 2: about how to improve your credit score, how quickly Jessic
- 11:14Speaker 2: Ricky can eat ice cream, and how to support your
- 11:16Speaker 2: friend's side hustle. So guys, do not go anywhere.
- 11:23Speaker 5: Oh rdy. Everybody, welcome back. Let's listen to this week's
- 11:26Speaker 5: money dilemma.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Shall we?
- 11:29Speaker 5: Hi? There?
- 11:30Speaker 2: Have you got a money dilemma you just can't solve?
- 11:32Speaker 2: The Sheese on the Money team is here to help.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Every week, we tackle your dilemmas, both big and small,
- 11:38Speaker 2: to answer your most burning money, career and life questions.
- 11:41Speaker 2: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 11:44Speaker 2: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 11:46Speaker 2: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 11:49Speaker 2: this week's money dilemma.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Hi, tiam, I just wanted to share my money dilemma.
- 11:56Speaker 3: To make a long story short, the last couple of years,
- 11:59Speaker 3: I made some irresponsible decisions with a credit card whilst
- 12:03Speaker 3: living overseas. Although I never considered myself super lavish, I
- 12:07Speaker 3: ended up with ten K debt, which I've since paid back,
- 12:11Speaker 3: but not before it went to collections. So now my
- 12:15Speaker 3: credit history is basically shot to pieces. So I wanted
- 12:18Speaker 3: to get some advice on how a regular person can
- 12:21Speaker 3: go about repairing their credit history or is this something
- 12:24Speaker 3: you just have to wait out until However many years pass,
- 12:28Speaker 3: I think it was four years that I read, but
- 12:30Speaker 3: I would love to know how to improve my credit
- 12:32Speaker 3: score after being in collections.
- 12:34Speaker 2: All those who have been personally victimized by credit card
- 12:37Speaker 2: debt after coming back from overseas, please.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Say I I I, You're not alone.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I feel like that's really important to point out, actually
- 12:45Speaker 2: just because it's not I don't know. I feel like
- 12:48Speaker 2: sometimes when you're listening to a money podcast, you carry
- 12:50Speaker 2: a lot of guilt because we are out here with
- 12:53Speaker 2: all the tips and tricks that you should be doing.
- 12:55Speaker 2: But whilst I'm good with money today, I haven't always
- 12:58Speaker 2: been good with money and tips and tricks like if
- 13:00Speaker 2: it's more of a do as I say, not as
- 13:01Speaker 2: I do kind of vibe, you know, so don't look
- 13:04Speaker 2: too deeply. First things. First I would say is please
- 13:06Speaker 2: don't google how to repair credit scores in Australia and
- 13:10Speaker 2: then click the first link that is sponsored that says
- 13:13Speaker 2: fix your credit today from Credit Clean Australia. Sneaky, so sneaky.
- 13:19Speaker 2: It's so fast and easy to get a credit file
- 13:21Speaker 2: assessment and then we will help you fix it. Don't
- 13:24Speaker 2: do that, you can do it on your own. Yeah,
- 13:26Speaker 2: like they'll charge you for that pleasure because work, No, babe,
- 13:34Speaker 2: read the room back. It's one of those things where
- 13:38Speaker 2: it does it work? The answer is actually yes, it
- 13:40Speaker 2: would absolutely work. But are they doing stuff that you
- 13:43Speaker 2: could already do and should already be doing for yourself. Yes,
- 13:47Speaker 2: they should be. And the first thing I want you
- 13:49Speaker 2: to do is if you don't know what your credit
- 13:51Speaker 2: score is, is you're going to go to a reliable
- 13:53Speaker 2: website to get your credit score done. So two of
- 13:56Speaker 2: the biggest ones are Equifax and Experience, and a more
- 14:00Speaker 2: user friendly option is actually, our friends are wiser and
- 14:03Speaker 2: we can put the link to that in the show notes,
- 14:05Speaker 2: because I think it's really important that we all know
- 14:08Speaker 2: our credit score. It's not a full blown credit inquiry
- 14:11Speaker 2: to go and get your credit score, and I recommend
- 14:13Speaker 2: that everybody goes and looks. And the reason I would
- 14:16Speaker 2: look is not because you're trying to get a loan
- 14:17Speaker 2: or not because you're like, oh, I worried about debt.
- 14:19Speaker 2: What we actually want to do is make sure that
- 14:22Speaker 2: it is relevant and actually our content, because sometimes if
- 14:27Speaker 2: we don't check our credit score, we don't know if
- 14:29Speaker 2: someone's using our identity fraudulently, if we, you know, had
- 14:34Speaker 2: someone muck up and you know, put a bill against
- 14:36Speaker 2: our name that wasn't ours and that's why it's not
- 14:39Speaker 2: been paid off and gone to collections. Or maybe your
- 14:42Speaker 2: telephone company forgot to send you a bill and you
- 14:45Speaker 2: know you've missed it and never paid it, and you
- 14:47Speaker 2: could actually amend that. So there's a lot of things
- 14:50Speaker 2: on there that you could actually fix. In a perfect world.
- 14:53Speaker 2: You look at your credit history, it comes back and
- 14:55Speaker 2: you tick every single box because you go, yep, no,
- 14:57Speaker 2: that makes sense. That was a credit inquiry for a
- 15:00Speaker 2: phone plan I took out. That was you know, a
- 15:02Speaker 2: loan I had, or that's my mortgage, or that's a
- 15:04Speaker 2: car inque, Like everything should on your credit score makes sense,
- 15:07Speaker 2: and if it doesn't, you need to talk to the
- 15:09Speaker 2: people who issued it to like start the process of
- 15:12Speaker 2: the what the hell right. But the next thing is
- 15:15Speaker 2: really understanding that in Australia your credit score is created
- 15:18Speaker 2: very differently to your credit score if you are American.
- 15:22Speaker 2: So if you're an American, you kind of like earn your
- 15:24Speaker 2: credit score by being in debt, like by getting credits.
- 15:27Speaker 2: So like a really recommended way in America is to
- 15:31Speaker 2: go and establish a credit card and pay it off regularly, right,
- 15:33Speaker 2: because you'll get a good credit score for paying that
- 15:35Speaker 2: credit That is not true in Australia. You do not
- 15:39Speaker 2: need a credit card to establish a good credit history.
- 15:42Speaker 2: What you need to do, my friends, is stay out
- 15:45Speaker 2: of debt. And while that is a really not great situation,
- 15:48Speaker 2: it's gone to collections that really sucks. You're right, it's
- 15:51Speaker 2: going to take two years to come off your credit history.
- 15:54Speaker 2: But in the interim, a few things that you can
- 15:56Speaker 2: do to you know, improve your credit score would be
- 15:59Speaker 2: if you have a credit card, lowering a credit limit
- 16:02Speaker 2: on that will usually instantly increase your credit score because
- 16:06Speaker 2: the less debt that you have access to, the more
- 16:09Speaker 2: reliable you are. You can limit the amount of applications
- 16:12Speaker 2: that you make for credit, so I wouldn't be going
- 16:15Speaker 2: and applying for new credit cards. One credit card is
- 16:18Speaker 2: not going to solve the issue of the last one
- 16:20Speaker 2: unless there's an actual strategy at play, in which case
- 16:23Speaker 2: you would already know that making sure that you're paying
- 16:26Speaker 2: your rent and your mortgage and your bills on time
- 16:29Speaker 2: is essential because here in Australia, that's how we get
- 16:32Speaker 2: a good credit score is by making sure that we
- 16:34Speaker 2: don't have things that go to collections or we don't
- 16:37Speaker 2: have bills that lapse or get late fees. So late
- 16:40Speaker 2: fees and stuff like that will negatively impact your credit score.
- 16:44Speaker 2: If it's directly through your energy supplier, well that's usually,
- 16:47Speaker 2: to be honest, pretty fine. They're just increasing your bill
- 16:50Speaker 2: because you didn't pay on time and they're seeing dollar
- 16:53Speaker 2: bills in their eyes. But if it goes to an
- 16:56Speaker 2: external third party, that can be an issue. Obviously, utility
- 17:01Speaker 2: bills and stuff like that, all of it on time.
- 17:03Speaker 2: And then if you do have a credit card and
- 17:06Speaker 2: that's something that you still rely on and you need
- 17:08Speaker 2: you need to make sure that you pay that credit
- 17:10Speaker 2: card on time each month, and obviously if you can
- 17:14Speaker 2: pay it in full or make sure you're paying more
- 17:18Speaker 2: than the minimum repayments, and that can actually help contribute
- 17:21Speaker 2: to a higher credit score. So if the minimum payment
- 17:24Speaker 2: on your credit card's fifty two dollars, how much over
- 17:27Speaker 2: that can you afford? It might not be triple that's fine,
- 17:30Speaker 2: but it might be a few dollars. Going above the
- 17:33Speaker 2: minimum repayment can have a really positive impact on your
- 17:36Speaker 2: credit score, which I don't think a lot of people
- 17:38Speaker 2: know that would just go but I paid it like
- 17:40Speaker 2: they sent me a bill. Yeah, they sent you a
- 17:42Speaker 2: bill for the absolute minimum to get by, So we
- 17:46Speaker 2: need to actually go above and beyond that. Not only
- 17:48Speaker 2: will that help your credit score, but it will actually
- 17:50Speaker 2: help you get out of debt quicker, and that's what
- 17:52Speaker 2: we want to see anyway.
- 17:53Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a big win. And we've done two episodes
- 17:55Speaker 5: on credit scores in the past, so if you want
- 17:57Speaker 5: a bit more information on what that could look like,
- 17:59Speaker 5: head back. We've done one called a Deep Dive on
- 18:01Speaker 5: credit scores and one called keeping your Credit Score.
- 18:03Speaker 2: In Check, which you might find helpful. That was a
- 18:05Speaker 2: good question though, vickid, Yeah, because I ask one question
- 18:08Speaker 2: before we move on BB Yes, so obviously, you know,
- 18:10Speaker 2: my credit score is really really bad. It's like in
- 18:12Speaker 2: the one or two hundred's. That's like, right, I still
- 18:15Speaker 2: got a credit score that's sexy. Yeah, yeah nice.
- 18:17Speaker 4: The people out there don't have because it's so many.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It can go, yeah, it can go. It can't go negative,
- 18:22Speaker 2: but it could be like real close to zero. So
- 18:23Speaker 2: I mean having your three figure credit score get going?
- 18:27Speaker 4: Okay, and it feel so bad, but so basically right now,
- 18:30Speaker 4: because I obviously can't get a credit card or anything.
- 18:32Speaker 4: So do I just literally stay off the grid for
- 18:35Speaker 4: however many years and then or just gradually get better
- 18:38Speaker 4: on its own? Do I just do nothing?
- 18:40Speaker 2: Pay your stuff on time? You're not off the grid.
- 18:43Speaker 2: So just because you don't have a credit card does
- 18:45Speaker 2: not get you out of the loop. You have rent
- 18:47Speaker 2: to pay yet, Yes, you have any type of bill? Yes,
- 18:51Speaker 2: so your name is on a bill. Yeah, so if
- 18:53Speaker 2: you didn't pay that bill and it went to collections,
- 18:56Speaker 2: that would negatively impact your credit score? Yes, oh yes, yeah,
- 19:00Speaker 2: so paying it positively impacts your credits? Okay, So I
- 19:03Speaker 2: think that's the biggest misconception when it comes to your
- 19:07Speaker 2: credit score. You assume that to have a good credit score,
- 19:10Speaker 2: it means you need to have credit. Just having a
- 19:12Speaker 2: bill coming in and consistently paying it is going to
- 19:15Speaker 2: be brilliant for you. Okay, doesn't mean that you can
- 19:18Speaker 2: go get a credit card tomorrow, but it means that
- 19:20Speaker 2: we can work back up to having a good credit score,
- 19:23Speaker 2: which is going to enable us more financial freedom in
- 19:26Speaker 2: the future. So it's not something I want you to
- 19:28Speaker 2: stress over today, but it's one of those things that
- 19:32Speaker 2: I genuinely think that we are a bit misconstrued because
- 19:36Speaker 2: we're so aligned to Oh, well, in America, you need
- 19:38Speaker 2: to xize it. And I mean every article about it
- 19:42Speaker 2: is often based on the American way of living, and
- 19:45Speaker 2: that's just not how it is in Australia. So you
- 19:47Speaker 2: are not off the grid regardless of whether you have
- 19:50Speaker 2: a credit line or not.
- 19:51Speaker 4: Well, it's actually mind blowing. I really was believing that
- 19:55Speaker 4: the American credit score system was the one that we
- 19:58Speaker 4: used as well.
- 20:00Speaker 2: It's actually very different. And I think it's a good
- 20:02Speaker 2: question as well, because it really reiterates that just by
- 20:05Speaker 2: doing good and being good and paying your bills on
- 20:07Speaker 2: time is actually really contributing towards you having a good
- 20:11Speaker 2: and secure financial future. And I hate the idea because
- 20:15Speaker 2: how many times we heard it on the pod before Jess,
- 20:17Speaker 2: or in our community where people are like, oh, when
- 20:19Speaker 2: I turned eighteen, my dad told me to get a
- 20:21Speaker 2: credit card because it will build my credit and it's like,
- 20:23Speaker 2: thank you, bro science, Yeah, bro science. Let's move on
- 20:30Speaker 2: from that though.
- 20:31Speaker 5: If you speaking about helping out ourselves, but what about
- 20:33Speaker 5: helping out our friends, specifically with small businesses.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Oh that was a segue of dreams. I am always
- 20:41Speaker 2: impressed with you. So this week one of you slid
- 20:44Speaker 2: into our DMS and the second I saw this question,
- 20:47Speaker 2: I was like, Jess is going to love this. This
- 20:49Speaker 2: is so spicy. Becky's going to have opinions. So we
- 20:53Speaker 2: put it on the Instagram stories. You guys gave us
- 20:56Speaker 2: your opinions, but the call out was this. It said, Hey, guys,
- 20:59Speaker 2: I'm face a dilemma all in capital that is, so
- 21:01Speaker 2: it must be a really big dilemma. I have a
- 21:03Speaker 2: close girlfriend who runs her own business, and I really
- 21:06Speaker 2: admire and support her. However, when I ordered something that
- 21:09Speaker 2: was handmade from her came back not at all how
- 21:13Speaker 2: I wanted it. I spent one hundred and twenty dollars
- 21:16Speaker 2: on it, and I'm currently facing a head versus heart battle.
- 21:20Speaker 2: On one hand, I just want to support her and
- 21:22Speaker 2: I don't want her to feel deflated. But on the
- 21:24Speaker 2: other hand, one hundred and twenty bucks was a bit
- 21:27Speaker 2: of a splash for me, and I either want my
- 21:29Speaker 2: money back or just what I ordered. I hope this
- 21:32Speaker 2: makes sense. I'm really keen to hear your thoughts. Oh
- 21:36Speaker 2: that's a really tricky one. What did you do?
- 21:41Speaker 4: Well, I don't know, Like I want first of all,
- 21:42Speaker 4: I want to know what the product is.
- 21:44Speaker 5: I want to say it's I totally get the need
- 21:46Speaker 5: for anonymity, but also I feel like context is key. Yes, yeah,
- 21:50Speaker 5: we yeah that yeah, because you need to know, like
- 21:53Speaker 5: if it's something that will cost so much money to redo,
- 21:57Speaker 5: or if it's something that would take a little bit
- 21:59Speaker 5: of time but probably not much money, Like we need
- 22:01Speaker 5: to know that kind of thing, like can she redo
- 22:02Speaker 5: the one that you have? Like if you painting, can
- 22:05Speaker 5: she paint over the painting and change it? Or like
- 22:08Speaker 5: is she going to be out for new materials and
- 22:10Speaker 5: new whatever is a piece of is it like pottery?
- 22:13Speaker 2: Proper nose? Before we dive deeper into this, though, can
- 22:17Speaker 2: I just give a little bit of kudos to this
- 22:18Speaker 2: friend for paying full price for something that her friend makes,
- 22:22Speaker 2: because I love to see that, and I think that
- 22:25Speaker 2: if your friend has a business, the most disrespectful thing
- 22:28Speaker 2: you can do is be like, oh my god, I'm
- 22:30Speaker 2: friends with you. Can I have a discount? But I'm sorry,
- 22:33Speaker 2: it's just not appropriate from my perspective, if your friend
- 22:36Speaker 2: gives you a discount unsolicited and says, oh my gosh, like,
- 22:39Speaker 2: of course you can have it for this, like I
- 22:41Speaker 2: don't know, different story, yeah, but like if your friend
- 22:45Speaker 2: is working hard to hustle themselves all the way to
- 22:48Speaker 2: the top, like why should you get it cheaper?
- 22:51Speaker 5: And she really cares about her friend because she's having
- 22:54Speaker 5: this delance, So kudos to that.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I absolutely love it, really smart, but also I feel
- 22:59Speaker 2: like it's too who sided right? Just what would you do?
- 23:02Speaker 5: I feel like I would talk to her, and you know,
- 23:06Speaker 5: you've got to be really delicate about how you approach it.
- 23:08Speaker 5: But I think, like the twofold, firstly, you've invested a
- 23:12Speaker 5: lot of money, and so if it wasn't your friend,
- 23:14Speaker 5: you'd be going back and saying, hey, it's kind of
- 23:16Speaker 5: what I stand for. So I don't think it is
- 23:18Speaker 5: unreasonable to do that. And I think the flip side
- 23:20Speaker 5: of it is if your item didn't come as expected,
- 23:24Speaker 5: there's a good chance that the same thing will happen
- 23:26Speaker 5: to somebody customers who may not be as considerate or
- 23:30Speaker 5: as kind. So I think if you can approach it
- 23:32Speaker 5: with her gently and just say, hey, oh, I was
- 23:35Speaker 5: really excited because in the photo it was pink and blue,
- 23:37Speaker 5: but the one I got is orange or whatever it is,
- 23:40Speaker 5: pointing out and be specific, because I think.
- 23:43Speaker 2: You don't just say it wasn't what I expected. Can
- 23:46Speaker 2: you fix it? Like that's still one helpful Yeah.
- 23:48Speaker 5: I think if you're specific, you can point out exactly
- 23:51Speaker 5: the detail that you don't love, and that gives her
- 23:54Speaker 5: something that she can clearly action and fix.
- 23:56Speaker 2: Yeah, agreed.
- 23:57Speaker 5: It's positive feedback for her to take forward for her
- 23:59Speaker 5: future orders. And also it's a little bit less personal,
- 24:02Speaker 5: like you're not saying, oh, it's shit, I don't like it.
- 24:04Speaker 5: You're like, oh, I just really wanted this color or
- 24:06Speaker 5: this shape or this size or whatever the problem is.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I couldn't agree more with that, I think that is
- 24:12Speaker 2: nail on the head. I also think to add to that,
- 24:16Speaker 2: I think your friend deserves the feedback. I agree if
- 24:18Speaker 2: you are a genuinely supportive friend of their business, just
- 24:22Speaker 2: letting it lie and somebody else, like the general public
- 24:25Speaker 2: coming back is going to be worse for her because
- 24:28Speaker 2: we've seen it before where people blow up online or
- 24:31Speaker 2: post it on Instagram, or you know, do something that's
- 24:34Speaker 2: maybe not the kindest way to deliver feedback, and you
- 24:37Speaker 2: have this great opportunity to go, hey, back, this is
- 24:40Speaker 2: so awkward for me, and I've really been wondering how
- 24:43Speaker 2: to approach it and to be honest. I just think
- 24:45Speaker 2: honesty is the best policy. This isn't what I expected.
- 24:48Speaker 2: You know, it was green and I wanted orange, and
- 24:52Speaker 2: you know, I don't know where the communication went wrong,
- 24:54Speaker 2: or you know, maybe there's been a material change, like
- 24:57Speaker 2: they've been making this one thing out of a particular
- 24:59Speaker 2: material for a really long time, Like it's you know,
- 25:02Speaker 2: a photo frame and you know it's wood and it's
- 25:03Speaker 2: just changed to like plastic that looks like wood, or
- 25:07Speaker 2: it's just it's not the quality that you know you
- 25:09Speaker 2: used to have, or it's not what I expected. I
- 25:12Speaker 2: think that can actually be really powerful. But I think
- 25:15Speaker 2: as a friend, obviously you're worried about it. But I
- 25:18Speaker 2: think even just prefacing, like Hey, I hope you know
- 25:21Speaker 2: that what I'm about to say is coming from a
- 25:23Speaker 2: place of kindness. I'm not trying to be a dick,
- 25:26Speaker 2: I promise. I think people get the I don't know
- 25:29Speaker 2: sometimes from my perspective, We've talked about this on the
- 25:32Speaker 2: pod before, where it's kind of like get your money's
- 25:34Speaker 2: worth and do this and do that. I also think
- 25:36Speaker 2: that the type of personality I have is the type
- 25:40Speaker 2: where I really need to preface something to make me
- 25:43Speaker 2: comfortable with that situation too. Like it's like when I'm
- 25:46Speaker 2: giving feedback or when I'm locking in a meeting with you, Jess,
- 25:48Speaker 2: I have to be like, hey, can we have a meeting.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Don't worry, it's a good thing. Like I just want
- 25:52Speaker 2: to make sure that you're not anxious about this. I
- 25:54Speaker 2: want to make sure that you're comfortable. And do I
- 25:57Speaker 2: need to do that? Do you need to know? Absolutely not.
- 26:00Speaker 2: But it makes me more comfortable with that, And I
- 26:02Speaker 2: think by saying that that might help you in those conversations.
- 26:07Speaker 2: We asked a few questions on our stories though, and
- 26:09Speaker 2: there seems to be a bit of a thing, right,
- 26:11Speaker 2: So we asked, do you have a close friend who
- 26:13Speaker 2: runs their own business slash side hustle? We love to
- 26:16Speaker 2: see this. Sixty two percent of you said yes, Wow,
- 26:19Speaker 2: isn't that cool? Yeah, she's in the money community, like, oh,
- 26:23Speaker 2: love it. Then we said, have you ever purchased something
- 26:26Speaker 2: from a friend that has a small business? Forty eight
- 26:29Speaker 2: percent of you said absolutely, fourteen percent of you said no,
- 26:33Speaker 2: and thirty eight percent of you hit the button. I
- 26:36Speaker 2: just want to press a button. So cheers for that vice.
- 26:38Speaker 2: But we felt it was important to add that because obviously,
- 26:41Speaker 2: if you just wanted to see the results, you might
- 26:42Speaker 2: have fake voted yeah, right, yes, it's good to see
- 26:46Speaker 2: that forty eight percent of you have done that. I
- 26:48Speaker 2: don't actually think that there should be an obligation to
- 26:50Speaker 2: purchase things from your friend's business either. I know that
- 26:53Speaker 2: supporting your friend is great, and you know, resharing their
- 26:56Speaker 2: business posts and you know, always commenting on things and
- 27:00Speaker 2: showering them with love and supporting every achievement they have
- 27:04Speaker 2: is what we should all be doing. But if it's
- 27:07Speaker 2: not a product you're going to use, I genuinely don't
- 27:09Speaker 2: think you should have an obligation to buy it. I agree.
- 27:12Speaker 2: I think a lot of the time we feel the
- 27:13Speaker 2: need to, though I've been there. I totally have been there.
- 27:16Speaker 2: So of the people we asked, have you ever purchased
- 27:18Speaker 2: an item from a friend, we asked what was your
- 27:21Speaker 2: sole motive behind purchasing that product? Two percent of you,
- 27:26Speaker 2: and this is why I'm saying, you don't have to
- 27:27Speaker 2: do this. Two percent of you said, arts because I
- 27:29Speaker 2: love the product, five percent of you said because I
- 27:34Speaker 2: really wanted to support my friends lovely, twenty five percent
- 27:37Speaker 2: of you said both of the above, and then thirty
- 27:40Speaker 2: seven percent of you said, do you want to to
- 27:41Speaker 2: press a button? Yeah?
- 27:43Speaker 5: I get it though, because like when you have a
- 27:45Speaker 5: friends startup business and you want to be supportive, and
- 27:47Speaker 5: you kind of go, well, if you're starting fresh from
- 27:50Speaker 5: ground zero, you've got no custodomers, Like unless you've built
- 27:54Speaker 5: up a following or you've got an Instagram page, you
- 27:55Speaker 5: know they're starting with literally shit all the share there, Like,
- 28:01Speaker 5: there is a lot, as you said, there are a
- 28:03Speaker 5: lot of other things that you can do if you're
- 28:04Speaker 5: not in a financial position to support them. But I
- 28:07Speaker 5: totally get the oh, I'll be your first order, or oh,
- 28:11Speaker 5: I want them to have a good week, so I'm
- 28:12Speaker 5: going to put one in Like. It's lovely that people
- 28:15Speaker 5: want to support their friends so much.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I'm that friend. But also we are headed towards a recession,
- 28:20Speaker 2: and I don't want people to feel stressed about money,
- 28:22Speaker 2: especially when it comes to supporting a friend's business. You
- 28:24Speaker 2: can do that. To be honest, in the long term,
- 28:28Speaker 2: just buying from them is not nearly as powerful as
- 28:31Speaker 2: sharing them with your community or positively advocating for them
- 28:34Speaker 2: or giving them a Google review or something like that
- 28:36Speaker 2: can actually build business for them in the future for
- 28:38Speaker 2: recurrent orders, whereas you just ordering it once off might
- 28:42Speaker 2: feel really special, but it's not nearly as powerful. Yes,
- 28:45Speaker 2: we asked our community in this situation, what would you do?
- 28:49Speaker 2: Thirty percent of you said I would give her the feedback.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Twenty three percent of you said I'd just feel too
- 28:54Speaker 2: bad and I wouldn't do that.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Another thirty three percent of you said it really depends
- 28:59Speaker 2: on the circumstanceays A fourteen percent of you said do
- 29:02Speaker 2: you want to press a button?
- 29:03Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 29:03Speaker 2: Of that, some of the opinions were really nice. They said,
- 29:06Speaker 2: I'd flag it with her in the nicest way possible.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I love her. Someone said I wouldn't say it, but
- 29:12Speaker 2: I just wouldn't buy it again, which I get it,
- 29:14Speaker 2: But is that constructive not helping anybody? Someone said, serve
- 29:19Speaker 2: it as a feedback sandwich emerge. I love a feedback.
- 29:22Speaker 2: Should we step it back to management one O one
- 29:25Speaker 2: in twenty ten? Or like a feedback sandwich is where
- 29:28Speaker 2: you give a positive thing, a negative thing a positive
- 29:30Speaker 2: thing and use, like sandwich it all together to make
- 29:32Speaker 2: it feel better. I agree. Someone said I really love
- 29:35Speaker 2: your I need to press a button response You're welcome.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Someone said, look for your friend to be successful in
- 29:40Speaker 2: her business, she needs to know the feedback so she
- 29:43Speaker 2: can improve. And I feel like all of these comments
- 29:46Speaker 2: were really aligned to the conversation we've had, so we're
- 29:48Speaker 2: clearly as a community all on the same page. But
- 29:51Speaker 2: tl DR, you want to help your friend in business,
- 29:55Speaker 2: You want them to do the best they possibly can,
- 29:57Speaker 2: and they think that that feedback no matter how hard
- 30:00Speaker 2: it is, I mean, approach it with kindness. And if
- 30:03Speaker 2: your friend is having a really shitty week, not the week,
- 30:06Speaker 2: probably not the week, use your brain. But I think
- 30:09Speaker 2: that it can be one of the better things. And
- 30:11Speaker 2: I mean I've had it before. I've had people approach
- 30:15Speaker 2: me about She's on the Money when I was starting
- 30:16Speaker 2: and be like, oh, hey, the way you said this
- 30:18Speaker 2: probably didn't land the way you thought it did. I
- 30:21Speaker 2: hate hearing it, but I love getting the feedback because
- 30:25Speaker 2: I know that if one of my friends saw that,
- 30:27Speaker 2: somebody I don't know is feeling that and wouldn't ever
- 30:29Speaker 2: approach me about it, and it's really not helping us grow.
- 30:32Speaker 2: It's not helping us be the best version of us.
- 30:35Speaker 2: So I love feedback, as much as sometimes it can
- 30:38Speaker 2: feel really bad. If it's constructive, I'm always so happy
- 30:42Speaker 2: to take it on. So I hope that you do
- 30:44Speaker 2: give her the feedback in yeah, the kindest way possible,
- 30:46Speaker 2: my friend.
- 30:47Speaker 5: Yeah, be gentle and don't forget if you want to
- 30:49Speaker 5: participate in those conversations. If you want to button to press,
- 30:52Speaker 5: come follow us on Instagram. We're at Cheese on the
- 30:54Speaker 5: Money AUS. We do these every single week. And if
- 30:57Speaker 5: Instagram's don't think Facebook, we love a good comment station.
- 31:00Speaker 2: On guys here twenty three thousand followers on TikTok are
- 31:07Speaker 2: we the biggest account on TikTok. No, do we have
- 31:09Speaker 2: the biggest ego?
- 31:10Speaker 8: Yes?
- 31:11Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe, yeah, No we do. It's not me, it's Brooke.
- 31:14Speaker 2: I hope she doesn't listened to the podcast. Wait, she
- 31:16Speaker 2: listens to every podcast because she's the one that does
- 31:19Speaker 2: the podcast video. She's going to cut that clip and
- 31:21Speaker 2: put on TikTok and do you dirty? Well, you know,
- 31:23Speaker 2: you get what you get and you don't get upset.
- 31:25Speaker 2: I gave her leave to go to Thailand and hopefully
- 31:28Speaker 2: she'll miss justice. Guys, that is all we have time
- 31:31Speaker 2: for in person today. Anna Lisa, our beautiful producer, is
- 31:35Speaker 2: about to drop in here some highlights from our Melbourne
- 31:38Speaker 2: International Women's Day event, so stick around for that, but
- 31:41Speaker 2: we will see you next week. Have a good weekend, guys.
- 31:44Speaker 4: Bye guys, Bye.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Happy International Women's Day. I'm good.
- 31:53Speaker 5: I feel high vib like it's the excitement and the
- 31:57Speaker 5: adrenaline and everyone's just so lovely and having the best time,
- 32:01Speaker 5: and I feel like International Women's Day is such a
- 32:03Speaker 5: special day. Like I cried during the speeches, of course
- 32:06Speaker 5: because I am that person, but everyone is just so
- 32:09Speaker 5: open hearted and warm and lovely that it's my favorite day.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Honestly, Happy International Women's Day. Happy International Women's Day.
- 32:19Speaker 9: How are you back?
- 32:20Speaker 2: I'm just waking up, but I'm good. Okay, she's about
- 32:24Speaker 2: to hit the stage. This is a really big deal,
- 32:25Speaker 2: and I'm just going to harass her for one second.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Hello and welcome. She's on the money. Happy International Women'sday,
- 32:30Speaker 2: Happy International Women's Stem. I'm so excited. How does she feel.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I'm really anxious. I've done three anxious weets. What's an
- 32:40Speaker 2: affordable luxury to you, Victoria, Oh, a really good copy
- 32:44Speaker 2: without worrying about how much it's going to cost you. You know,
- 32:47Speaker 2: when you're like go and you can tap your card
- 32:48Speaker 2: and you just know that there's enough cash on there
- 32:51Speaker 2: and you can afford your oat lata and it doesn't
- 32:53Speaker 2: matter about how much alternative milks cost. That's affordable luxury
- 32:56Speaker 2: to me.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Low pack butter oat milk, my morning coffee.
- 33:04Speaker 2: I won't go without my coffee. Do you have any
- 33:07Speaker 2: special milk?
- 33:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm too scared to say, Victoria, I drink almond milk.
- 33:15Speaker 10: Sucked in, Victoria.
- 33:18Speaker 11: My retinal retinol, I'll plug it. Medicai crystal ten expensive
- 33:22Speaker 11: I always find on sale, which makes me feel a
- 33:24Speaker 11: little bit better about it. But I figure, I'm putting
- 33:26Speaker 11: it on my skin five nights a week. Your skin's
- 33:29Speaker 11: the biggest organ on your body, and hopefully preventative, so
- 33:33Speaker 11: that you know my skin is looking fresh when I
- 33:35Speaker 11: get a little bit older. That's my way of justifying
- 33:38Speaker 11: an expensive product for long term use.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Love being a retinal galley. It's the best.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Your skin is glowing, Oh my goodness.
- 33:49Speaker 12: Affordable luxury this is a bit of a random one,
- 33:52Speaker 12: I guess, But I guess me being able to have
- 33:56Speaker 12: lots of running water. I know that sounds really random,
- 33:59Speaker 12: but like I, because I suffer from chronic migraines, I
- 34:04Speaker 12: find that water is actually a really great way to
- 34:06Speaker 12: reduce them, so taking like long showers and like long baths.
- 34:10Speaker 12: I'm very happy that I get to have that as
- 34:12Speaker 12: my every day, every week thing to like manage my pain.
- 34:17Speaker 2: So it feels like a luxury, I guess.
- 34:19Speaker 11: I don't know.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I don't know if that's depressed.
- 34:23Speaker 9: My affordable luxury is when I can't be bothered to
- 34:26Speaker 9: take the train I drive into work and paper parking
- 34:30Speaker 9: because I hate catching trains.
- 34:31Speaker 2: So that is my ford luxury.
- 34:34Speaker 10: Mine would have to be jewelry, even during COVID when
- 34:38Speaker 10: we weren't going anywhere, I would still treat myself to
- 34:41Speaker 10: a new piece just to wear at home.
- 34:44Speaker 5: I can confirm the ladies looking good with her bling
- 34:46Speaker 5: right now.
- 34:47Speaker 2: Yes, thank you.
- 34:48Speaker 10: Yeah, that was definitely made me feel special.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Affordable luxury.
- 34:53Speaker 6: I saw this really interesting thing online the other day
- 34:57Speaker 6: about being able to get home safe, and I hate that,
- 35:00Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying.
- 35:01Speaker 2: But I feel emotual about it.
- 35:04Speaker 6: Being able to afford to get a DV home. Yeah,
- 35:09Speaker 6: and if the only one you could get home is
- 35:12Speaker 6: like sure you want having the money to do.
- 35:14Speaker 2: That, that's it for me. Why it is not emotional? No,
- 35:21Speaker 2: it's true. If it's incredibly emotional safety, it's like a right.
- 35:27Speaker 2: But I hate that that's the thing.
- 35:28Speaker 6: It was women that we have to think about and
- 35:33Speaker 6: have spare money for, you know, like my husband never
- 35:37Speaker 6: has to think about that.
- 35:40Speaker 4: My I think my big money goal for twenty twenty
- 35:42Speaker 4: three is to start saving hopefully, you know. I don't
- 35:48Speaker 4: want to be I don't want it to be too extravagant.
- 35:50Speaker 4: I feel like, by the end of twenty twenty three,
- 35:52Speaker 4: I want at least a couple hundred.
- 35:53Speaker 2: Dollars And that's that's really it. That'll satisfy me.
- 35:57Speaker 8: Just save more, Yeah, just say save money.
- 36:00Speaker 2: That's it.
- 36:02Speaker 10: I want to buy a car by the end of
- 36:03Speaker 10: the year and there a new car.
- 36:06Speaker 11: Mine is to control my impulse spending and go to
- 36:11Speaker 11: Europe with a bit of financial freedom and come back
- 36:14Speaker 11: and still have saved money by the end of the year.
- 36:17Speaker 10: Money goal I think would definitely just be saving for
- 36:20Speaker 10: a house to posit, just getting into that born savings mode.
- 36:24Speaker 10: It feels like a long road, but I know if
- 36:27Speaker 10: you just chip away, you'll get there.
- 36:30Speaker 9: I have a couple of money goals for this year.
- 36:32Speaker 10: Last year was a.
- 36:33Speaker 9: Little bit hectic for me money wise. I moved out
- 36:36Speaker 9: of home, my car broke down, a lot of things happened.
- 36:39Speaker 9: So my money goal for twenty twenty three is to
- 36:42Speaker 9: resave my emergency fund and to pay off my credit
- 36:46Speaker 9: card debt.
- 36:47Speaker 8: The big money goal for twenty twenty three is we
- 36:50Speaker 8: actually have our own baby podcast, and so it's to
- 36:54Speaker 8: baby make my first money with that so that I
- 36:57Speaker 8: can maybe like start not using my personal money to
- 37:01Speaker 8: fund it. It's differently brained, so that's why Chloe was
- 37:06Speaker 8: such an amazing guest today. So we talked to different
- 37:09Speaker 8: neurodivergent guests and people who've had challenges with mental.
- 37:12Speaker 2: Health, and we talk.
- 37:13Speaker 8: About their lived experience, breaking down the stereotypes and misconceptions
- 37:17Speaker 8: around what autism.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Looks like and what ADHD looks like.
- 37:20Speaker 8: So I'm autistic in ADHD and my co host is
- 37:23Speaker 8: Bipola and OCD. So just trying to change things up
- 37:26Speaker 8: a bit, much the same way that Lovely Victoria in
- 37:29Speaker 8: your team does.
- 37:31Speaker 12: I was just wondering if either of you have had
- 37:33Speaker 12: a money lost lately, like got a bargain or had
- 37:37Speaker 12: like a parking fine or.
- 37:39Speaker 7: She's the queen of parking fines. I've had two parking
- 37:42Speaker 7: fines in my lifetime and couldn't have happened, shouldn't have happened? Yes, No,
- 37:46Speaker 7: And that was that was less of a money when
- 37:48Speaker 7: I guess you could say more of a money loss,
- 37:50Speaker 7: let's go with that.
- 37:52Speaker 2: It was not a lot of fun.
- 37:53Speaker 7: I actually had a permit to park there, but I
- 37:54Speaker 7: had just forgotten.
- 37:55Speaker 2: To display it.
- 37:55Speaker 7: So it was just it was authorful a good of
- 37:58Speaker 7: promotion last year. That was quite a money for me
- 38:00Speaker 7: the end of last year, so coming into this year,
- 38:03Speaker 7: paid off the fine, paid off the fine for me,
- 38:04Speaker 7: we'll go with that. Yeah, I cancel each other for me.
- 38:08Speaker 2: My money when is I bought my first apartment, so
- 38:10Speaker 2: that's that. Yeah.
- 38:11Speaker 7: Yeah, pretty proud of me because twenty one that's crazy.
- 38:14Speaker 10: So well, I've actually just had a big money goal
- 38:17Speaker 10: achieve so we've just bought a big, five bedroom.
- 38:19Speaker 2: House for all the kids.
- 38:20Speaker 10: So yeah, so that's probably money loss as well, but
- 38:24Speaker 10: it's also a goal achieve So yeah, I've had.
- 38:28Speaker 13: A bit of a up and down relationship with money.
- 38:32Speaker 13: I was in a pretty abusive relationship last year and
- 38:36Speaker 13: that caused a big money loss. But I've worked really
- 38:42Speaker 13: hard and Mums supported me a lot in the last
- 38:44Speaker 13: twelve months and I've been able to save up twelve
- 38:47Speaker 13: grand in the last twelve months, so that's like my
- 38:51Speaker 13: main money.
- 38:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 38:54Speaker 2: Yeah, she's worked really hard. I'm so proud of her.
- 39:00Speaker 2: She's on the money.
- 39:01Speaker 3: She's on the money.
- 39:02Speaker 5: She's on the money.
