- 0:11Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark Review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: a former Hallmark hater. On today's episode, we're discussing The
- 0:19Speaker 1: Spirit of Halloween, the final movie in the Fall Into
- 0:23Speaker 1: Love lineup, which originally aired on Saturday, October 10th, 2026
- 0:28Speaker 1: on the Hallmark channel and is now streaming on Hallmark +.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Quick little note, keep up with us. And by keeping

- 0:46Speaker 1: Number two, our website, girlsgonehallmark.com. Yes, we have detailed show
- 0:52Speaker 1: notes for every single episode, but we also have so
- 0:54Speaker 1: much more over there. It is a good time. You
- 0:57Speaker 1: are missing out if you are not visiting girlsgonehallmark.com regularly.
- 1:02Speaker 1: And finally... Girls Gone Hallmark.com is the best place to
- 1:04Speaker 1: sign up for our newsletter, which comes out weekly, which
- 1:07Speaker 1: not only reminds you everything we've been up to, but
- 1:10Speaker 1: you're going to get a weekly countdown to Christmas schedule
- 1:11Speaker 1: as well there. So you know what to look forward
- 1:14Speaker 1: to each and every weekend. I know. I think sometimes
- 1:18Speaker 1: with the onslaught of movies, new premieres, it can kind
- 1:23Speaker 1: of be overwhelming for the viewer of like what's coming
- 1:27Speaker 1: this weekend and Who's in it? Who's in it? If
- 1:30Speaker 1: I missed it, where can I find it? It's overwhelming
- 1:33Speaker 1: for me. No kidding. You guys should see our shared
- 1:36Speaker 1: Google calendar. It's out of control. Out of control. I
- 1:43Speaker 1: got to tell you something. Remember last week how I
- 1:45Speaker 1: said I had fall fatigue? Yes. I think this week's
- 1:49Speaker 1: movie made me a little excited. It kind of cured
- 1:52Speaker 1: that a little bit. It did it? Yeah. I have
- 1:55Speaker 1: good things to say about this movie. I'm so excited
- 1:58Speaker 1: to hear that. Are you?
- 1:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Because, you know, you hate Halloween, so... Well, that's true.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Here's what I don't like about Halloween, just to be clear.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I don't like dressing up in costume. I find it humiliating.
- 2:11Speaker 1: And I don't like scary things. Strong words. Humiliating. Why?
- 2:15Speaker 1: It feels like a lot of pressure. I feel embarrassed
- 2:18Speaker 1: when I'm in costume. Hmm. A few years ago, my
- 2:22Speaker 1: neighbor had a 50th birthday party and it was 90s
- 2:24Speaker 1: hip hop themed and you were to dress in theme.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I remember. And I ordered, I'm sure you remember, it
- 2:32Speaker 1: was like a, I don't know how to describe it,
- 2:34Speaker 1: like a brightly colored workout sweatshirt situation. You know what
- 2:38Speaker 1: I'm talking about? Like that plastic material that was like,
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Was that you touching the
- 2:45Speaker 1: fabric or are you doing a turntable? That's not me
- 2:48Speaker 1: being a DJ, no. So I was like, I thought
- 2:51Speaker 1: it was on, it was the vibe. Okay, but? Every other,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and when I say every other, I mean every other
- 3:00Speaker 1: woman at the party was in a white tank top
- 3:04Speaker 1: and overalls. Every single one.
- 3:07Speaker 2: One.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So you felt you stood out in a bad way? Yes.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Although were the tables turned, I'd be like, oh, look,
- 3:14Speaker 1: that person's costume is like unique. Yes. But I was like,
- 3:18Speaker 1: I just want to fade into the background. And the
- 3:21Speaker 1: funny thing is I was wearing overalls. My husband's like, ah,
- 3:23Speaker 1: like it just looks like an outfit, right? Like it
- 3:25Speaker 1: didn't look like a costume. He was dressed like one
- 3:30Speaker 1: of the boys to men boys. with like a what
- 3:33Speaker 1: is that whatever baseball hat they wear and then the
- 3:36Speaker 1: philly shirt and tie yeah shirt and tie yeah yeah
- 3:39Speaker 1: yeah now i remember i couldn't remember like what their
- 3:43Speaker 1: what their look was yeah and i mean i think
- 3:45Speaker 1: it's only an if you know you know it doesn't
- 3:47Speaker 1: necessarily look costumey looks like maybe he came home from
- 3:51Speaker 1: work and threw on a hat but was he in
- 3:53Speaker 1: like a denim shirt and denim jeans i don't think
- 3:56Speaker 1: it was a i don't remember which shirt it was
- 3:58Speaker 1: i'm sure we have a picture But anyway, I was
- 4:00Speaker 1: humiliated the entire time. I'm sorry. I just don't like
- 4:03Speaker 1: dressing up. I feel like there's a giant sign above
- 4:07Speaker 1: my head. That says, I'm uncomfortable. That says, like, look
- 4:11Speaker 1: at me. She's trying too hard. Anyway, deep thoughts with
- 4:16Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy this morning. But you're right. I'm not
- 4:18Speaker 1: necessarily the biggest fan of Halloween. This was so fun.
- 4:23Speaker 1: As you recall, I loved Hall Out the Halloween last year.
- 4:26Speaker 1: My husband and I rewatched it last week. Oh, I
- 4:29Speaker 1: need to do that still. And it hit. I mean,
- 4:31Speaker 1: I was laughing out loud. It was a good time.
- 4:34Speaker 1: This really, what a way to end, not only Fall
- 4:38Speaker 1: Into Love, but the final non-Christmas movie of the season.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I agree. I think we went out with a bang.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Do you want a synopsis?
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Everly Stone, BTW. Everly is such a great name. Such
- 4:50Speaker 1: a great name. Don't you think so? Yes. Everly Stone,
- 4:53Speaker 1: Ebenezer Scrooge, but yes. Oh, I didn't make that connection. Anyway,
- 4:59Speaker 1: Everly Stone is very firmly anti-Halloween. That is until she
- 5:04Speaker 1: is visited by three friendly yet spooky spirits who help
- 5:08Speaker 1: her rediscover her true self and see what she's been
- 5:11Speaker 1: missing all along. Well, first of all, you need three
- 5:15Speaker 1: spooky spirits to come visit you. Me? Yeah. You need
- 5:21Speaker 1: it for Halloween. I need it for Christmas. Okay, but
- 5:24Speaker 1: I think it was less about her being a Halloween
- 5:28Speaker 1: Scrooge and more about her needing to like fix her life.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Like she had turned away from all of the important
- 5:36Speaker 1: connections in her life because she had been betrayed by
- 5:38Speaker 1: her best friend and her fiance. Fair. So do you
- 5:41Speaker 1: think this synopsis, I did not write it, is inaccurate?
- 5:45Speaker 1: I don't think it's inaccurate. I mean, it is about
- 5:47Speaker 1: her being a holiday Scrooge, but I don't, think that
- 5:51Speaker 1: is why the spirits visit her. I don't think that's
- 5:53Speaker 1: the lesson. They're not like, you must love Halloween. No,
- 5:56Speaker 1: I agree. That's not the lesson here. For sure. I'm
- 5:59Speaker 1: not sure that either of us needs three spirits to
- 6:01Speaker 1: visit us. I'm not putting that out in the universe.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I am. You think you're a person who needs to
- 6:07Speaker 1: fix your life? Mm-hmm. In what way? I don't know.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I just felt... They're gonna be like, start a laundry schedule, Wendy.
- 6:17Speaker 1: My laundry is on point. I know.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Um.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It's because I'm a control freak. I'm not going to
- 6:24Speaker 1: get into it. If you want to hear deeper thoughts,
- 6:27Speaker 1: come join us on Patreon. I can't wait to hear
- 6:29Speaker 1: what you think needs to be fixed about your life.
- 6:31Speaker 1: All right, let's move on. Jeff Beasley directed The Spirit
- 6:35Speaker 1: of Halloween, and he's got four more movies coming to
- 6:38Speaker 1: Hallmark before the end of the year. His next one
- 6:41Speaker 1: will be next weekend, kicking off Countdown to Christmas. Nicole
- 6:44Speaker 1: Baxter wrote the script. Nicole isn't talked about enough. As
- 6:48Speaker 1: a writer. I agree. She previously wrote The Way to You.
- 6:53Speaker 1: She adapted Adventures in Love and Burning, An Unexpected Valentine,
- 6:57Speaker 1: Blind Date Book Club, The Presence of Love. These are
- 7:01Speaker 1: great movies. The Way to You was this year, wasn't it? Yes.
- 7:05Speaker 1: It's going to be in my top five. Oh, interesting. Spoiler, guys.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I'm just realizing that it should have been more of
- 7:11Speaker 1: a contender for my top five. It was hard to choose.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Come back for that episode. Megan Ori stars as Everly.
- 7:17Speaker 1: Megan is best known for her role as Abby on
- 7:19Speaker 1: Chesapeake Shores. She recently appeared on Sullivan's Crossing and in
- 7:23Speaker 1: last year's A Christmas Angel Match. Kevin McGarry stars as Bo.
- 7:29Speaker 1: We haven't seen Kevin on Hallmark outside of When Calls
- 7:33Speaker 1: the Heart since 2025, where he starred in Villa Amore. Amore.
- 7:39Speaker 1: He will star in the forthcoming Countdown to Christmas movie,
- 7:43Speaker 1: The Christmas Eve Feast. You know, you talked about the
- 7:47Speaker 1: onslaught of information we get about the Christmas season from Hallmark.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And sometimes I see the movies, the titles of the
- 7:54Speaker 1: movies that are coming up. And I'm like, that's brand
- 7:56Speaker 1: new information. I've never heard that title before. And so
- 7:58Speaker 1: I've been interacting with them many, many times over the
- 8:00Speaker 1: past couple of weeks. I'm shaking my head. Yes. Yeah.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I have to like check and double check. Did they
- 8:05Speaker 1: change the name of this? I don't know this name
- 8:07Speaker 1: of this movie. Is that a real movie? Yep. Exactly.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Julia Schroeder appears as Tracy in true Jeff Beasley fashion.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Tracy appeared in two of his previous movies, Christmas on
- 8:16Speaker 1: Call and A Carol for Two. Derek McGrath plays the
- 8:21Speaker 1: ghost of the past. You guys, the way I had
- 8:24Speaker 1: to look up the names because they didn't call them
- 8:26Speaker 1: like ghost of Halloween past. He plays the ghost of
- 8:30Speaker 1: the past with 134 acting credits. Derek has a deep resume,
- 8:35Speaker 1: but not a ton of hallmark work outside of a
- 8:37Speaker 1: few episodes of Good Witch. Christine L. Wynn plays Ghost
- 8:41Speaker 1: of the Present. Christine has just 28 acting credits and
- 8:44Speaker 1: appeared in seven episodes of The Bold Type. Yeah, I
- 8:48Speaker 1: couldn't remember her from The Bold Type. That's another Girls
- 8:50Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark Universe crossover. I feel like that might be
- 8:54Speaker 1: due for a rewatch for me. Yeah, I wonder if
- 8:57Speaker 1: it holds up. I don't know. I loved that movie
- 9:00Speaker 1: and that movie. I loved that series. And that really
- 9:04Speaker 1: launched my adoration of Megan Fahey. Yeah, totally. You and
- 9:08Speaker 1: everybody else. I know. It's not a unique thought, but
- 9:11Speaker 1: I really like her. Lachlan Quornby plays Ghost of the Future.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Lachlan recently starred in Hope Valley 1874 on Hallmark Plus,
- 9:19Speaker 1: as well as the Hallmark miniseries Providence Fall in 2025. Hey, Wendy,
- 9:24Speaker 1: what was your first impression of the spirit of Halloween?
- 9:28Speaker 1: Everly needed three ghosts to realize Bo was into her.
- 9:31Speaker 1: I figured it out in about seven seconds. Girl, wake up.
- 9:37Speaker 1: Who knew all I needed in my life was Lachlan
- 9:40Speaker 1: Cornby playing the comedic ghost of the future, who also
- 9:44Speaker 1: happens to be seven feet tall? That's so funny. I
- 9:47Speaker 1: looked up how tall he was. How tall is he?
- 9:49Speaker 1: It's in my digi-see. The internet says he's 6'4. Okay,
- 9:53Speaker 1: we're going to talk about that. God, I loved him
- 9:55Speaker 1: in this role. I laughed out loud when he came
- 9:58Speaker 1: on screen. When he appears on her couch, immediately it's funny.
- 10:03Speaker 1: And he hasn't even said anything. I still look good.
- 10:07Speaker 1: He makes all these references to how good he looks
- 10:09Speaker 1: and how hot he is. And I loved it. You
- 10:12Speaker 1: know what? This is Ryan's... His character reminded me, and
- 10:15Speaker 1: I don't know if this is going to land for everybody,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but in the movie Inside Out... In her brain, there's
- 10:22Speaker 1: the fictional boyfriend character who's like, Riley, I would do
- 10:25Speaker 1: anything for you. And at one point, they pile all
- 10:28Speaker 1: the boyfriends up and they use them to launch themselves
- 10:30Speaker 1: out of the memory land. Anyway, something about that semi-robotic
- 10:35Speaker 1: hot guy, that's what he reminded me of. I'm into it.
- 10:39Speaker 1: In the best way. Into it. That gets one plus
- 10:43Speaker 1: star from me. He is at the top of my likes.
- 10:47Speaker 1: When Everly calls him Mr. Ghost of Halloween Future and
- 10:49Speaker 1: he goes, Grant, Mr. Ghost of Halloween Future is my dad. Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 1: It's not like on paper the greatest line, but I
- 10:56Speaker 1: did laugh out loud. It's the delivery. It's so good.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I don't want to say he's flexing. He's doing like a,
- 11:04Speaker 1: what is it called? A curl? A curl with the pumpkin.
- 11:07Speaker 1: And she goes, don't strain yourself. And he goes, that's
- 11:09Speaker 1: the point. And I was like, are you freaking kidding me?
- 11:14Speaker 1: His character in Hope Valley 1874 gets zero chance to
- 11:18Speaker 1: be funny. And Providence Falls, I loved him in Providence Falls,
- 11:21Speaker 1: but he's also not funny there. He's very like broody
- 11:24Speaker 1: and romantic. I mean, way to let him run. I
- 11:28Speaker 1: think we're going to talk about Jeff Beasley here in
- 11:30Speaker 1: a second, or at least I am. But I think
- 11:33Speaker 1: one thing that Jeff Beasley does really well is like
- 11:37Speaker 1: he finds comedy. I mean, this is clearly a comedic movie,
- 11:41Speaker 1: but I think he's really great at drawing that out
- 11:43Speaker 1: in people. Yeah. Can we talk about the other two
- 11:46Speaker 1: ghosts as well? Gosh, please. I love them because all
- 11:50Speaker 1: three of them were eccentric. The older... The ghost of
- 11:55Speaker 1: the past, the older man, Derek McGrath. He was funny too.
- 12:01Speaker 1: He was funny. And she calls him the ghost who
- 12:03Speaker 1: looks like the old man from Up. Yes. I love that.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And then we have this very kind of cool Gen
- 12:10Speaker 1: Z ghost of present day. Yes. And I, who was
- 12:15Speaker 1: very giving. I mean, when I talk about Gen Z,
- 12:17Speaker 1: when she was like making heart hands and heart and like,
- 12:20Speaker 1: I got you girl. And like, I just loved them.
- 12:23Speaker 1: They were all so different, but also lovely. Yeah. They
- 12:27Speaker 1: painted a full picture of everything Everly needed.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 12:30Speaker 1: When the Ghost of the Past, when they're on her
- 12:33Speaker 1: college campus and Everly's in pajamas in a row, but
- 12:36Speaker 1: she's like, nobody can see me, right? And he's like,
- 12:38Speaker 1: get over yourself. Totally. I was like, oh my gosh.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Like the writing, Nicole Baxter, so good. Totally. Totally. For me,
- 12:46Speaker 1: there's a couple of things. One, I think this is
- 12:49Speaker 1: Hallmark's better attempts at a true Halloween movie. We have
- 12:53Speaker 1: such a small catalog of Hallmark Halloween movies, and I
- 12:59Speaker 1: think this is a reason to keep making more. Last year,
- 13:03Speaker 1: it was Hall at the Halloween, which was fan-freaking-tastic. We
- 13:06Speaker 1: talked about it. This one, I thought, is fantastic. Great.
- 13:08Speaker 1: We also have October Kiss, which falls in that Halloween category.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Haunted Wedding, kind of. Haunted Wedding, kind of. Also Jeff Beasley,
- 13:16Speaker 1: but still in the spooky season vein. Yeah, I'm like,
- 13:19Speaker 1: let's keep adding to this category, this genre. I love it.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I love it. I also thought, and I don't know
- 13:28Speaker 1: if this was Jeff Beasley's doing, but this was truly
- 13:31Speaker 1: a Halloween movie. We have ghosts, costumes, parties, spooky music,
- 13:35Speaker 1: the whole thing. Also- The warm, like, autumnal color palette
- 13:43Speaker 1: and soundtrack really set the mood. That's what, like, it
- 13:48Speaker 1: has reeled me back into, I don't have fall fatigue now.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I'm excited for Halloween.
- 13:52Speaker 2: 100%.
- 13:52Speaker 1: So... You mentioned Jeff. We need to talk about Jeff Beasley.
- 13:58Speaker 1: We talk about him like he's our close personal friend.
- 14:01Speaker 1: We have had him on the podcast and we have a,
- 14:04Speaker 1: you know, a DM relationship with him on Instagram. He's
- 14:07Speaker 1: just a good guy. But the thing is, he's really
- 14:10Speaker 1: good at his job and he's really thoughtful about it.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But I think where he shines is with an ensemble cast.
- 14:16Speaker 1: For sure. And he even said in our interview that
- 14:18Speaker 1: it's his favorite thing to do. And I think we've
- 14:21Speaker 1: talked about ensemble casts that sometimes are done poorly sometimes.
- 14:25Speaker 1: where these characters aren't fleshed out, where they just exist
- 14:28Speaker 1: you know, to kind of reflect off the main characters.
- 14:31Speaker 1: And that is not the case here. Like you said,
- 14:33Speaker 1: our ghosts each have their own distinct personality. We know Tracy,
- 14:37Speaker 1: her assistant, her motivation and her challenges. And even her
- 14:42Speaker 1: fiance gets like a, a wash. We get kind of
- 14:44Speaker 1: who he is.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Of course, Bo and Everly, I think are really well done.
- 14:49Speaker 1: We understand a lot about who Tracy's dad, not Tracy,
- 14:52Speaker 1: about who Everly's dad is even from like a couple
- 14:55Speaker 1: of short scenes. It's, it's, it's a skill to be
- 15:00Speaker 1: able to do that. And of course that exists in
- 15:02Speaker 1: the writing as well. Like that comes from Nicole to
- 15:05Speaker 1: have written those characters, but to give them enough weight
- 15:11Speaker 1: on screen that we care about them in 80 minutes
- 15:15Speaker 1: is a talent. Yep. Agree. I want to even add
- 15:19Speaker 1: to Nicole Baxter's writing bouquet here. I thought even like
- 15:24Speaker 1: some smaller details that made it And specifically, they address, like,
- 15:31Speaker 1: can they see us? Like, you know, Everly would ask, like,
- 15:33Speaker 1: can they see us? Or there was questions about touching. Oh, uh-huh. Anyway,
- 15:40Speaker 1: these are kind of, you know, when we watch these
- 15:42Speaker 1: movies that have, like, a magical realism to them or
- 15:44Speaker 1: ghosts or whatever, and we always, like, dog on, like, oh,
- 15:47Speaker 1: my God, did you see them dancing? And she was
- 15:49Speaker 1: dancing by herself because there's a ghost there, but nobody
- 15:51Speaker 1: else can see the ghost in the room. Like, it
- 15:54Speaker 1: was addressed. Yes, like at the Halloween party. Yes. She
- 15:57Speaker 1: was like, can they see you? And they're like, oh,
- 15:58Speaker 1: the veil between the worlds is thin. Yeah, your shadows. Yeah, exactly. Yeah,
- 16:02Speaker 1: and so, like, nobody's even going to notice us here. Yes,
- 16:06Speaker 1: they asked the... In her writing, she asks the questions
- 16:09Speaker 1: that the viewer is asking or that a person in
- 16:11Speaker 1: that situation would be asking. Thank you. You know, like,
- 16:14Speaker 1: can you touch things? Can you, like, are you corporeal, basically? Yes. Yes,
- 16:19Speaker 1: I agree. I love that. Like you said, adding to
- 16:21Speaker 1: Nicole Baxter's bouquet, the writing, like, there are just so
- 16:24Speaker 1: many great lines. I wrote down so many of them.
- 16:26Speaker 1: When Tracy, the assistant... is talking about Beau and she says,
- 16:31Speaker 1: set me ablaze, he can put me out any time.
- 16:34Speaker 1: I thought, wow, like way to sneak that one in there.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Let's talk about Megan Ori and Kevin McGarry. Yes. Both
- 16:42Speaker 1: totally work for me. I thought Everly has like, well, okay.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Megan gives everything. everly enough edge without her she made
- 16:51Speaker 1: her funny but not unpleasant because i think it's like
- 16:55Speaker 1: a fine dance here because you could have made everly
- 16:59Speaker 1: unlikable yeah and i think like in the original telling
- 17:02Speaker 1: of this story like our main person is a bad
- 17:06Speaker 1: person is unlikable she's not a bad person she's not
- 17:09Speaker 1: unlikable right in scrooge yes so i thought it was
- 17:15Speaker 1: well done i thought she played And she's really funny, too.
- 17:19Speaker 1: She's inwardly bad, right? Like, I'm sorry. I'm just thinking
- 17:22Speaker 1: about your question. Bad how? Well, that's what I mean
- 17:26Speaker 1: to herself. Like, if you think about, like, the character
- 17:29Speaker 1: of Ebenezer Scrooge, he's outwardly harmful. Like, he is harming
- 17:32Speaker 1: the people around him. And that is a result of, right,
- 17:36Speaker 1: his internalized heartbreak and all of this. But Everly, her bad,
- 17:42Speaker 1: and I'm putting this in air quotes, behavior really only
- 17:45Speaker 1: affects her. Like, yes, it has blowback effects on Bo,
- 17:48Speaker 1: who she, you know, like pushes away. And Tracy. Yes,
- 17:52Speaker 1: and Tracy, who she doesn't. But she's not mean to them. Right.
- 17:57Speaker 1: She's just kind of like shut herself down. And as
- 18:00Speaker 1: a result, yes, it is harmful to the people around her.
- 18:04Speaker 1: But I think she's, when you talk about her being like,
- 18:07Speaker 1: You're saying she's not a bad person. I do agree
- 18:09Speaker 1: with you. Her actions were more harmful to herself than others.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I don't think she's a bad... No, that's what I'm saying.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I don't think she's a bad person. I know, but
- 18:17Speaker 1: I didn't think her behavior was too terrible. I don't
- 18:20Speaker 1: think her behavior is too terrible either. I think what
- 18:23Speaker 1: we're dealing with is in the flaws of real people.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Like Ebenezer Scrooge is such an outsized villain that like...
- 18:31Speaker 1: The vision of him swimming in his gold is something
- 18:34Speaker 1: that we use as a reference point because it's so
- 18:37Speaker 1: absurd the way he treats people. I think the character
- 18:41Speaker 1: of Everly reflects the way real people behave. Yes. I
- 18:46Speaker 1: can't get out of my own head that I find...
- 18:49Speaker 1: her story very relatable. Yes. And so therefore, then my
- 18:52Speaker 1: next step is, am I bad? No. Do you know
- 18:55Speaker 1: what I mean? Yes. And then to answer your question,
- 19:00Speaker 1: you asked early, what do I need to fix about
- 19:02Speaker 1: my life? Well, this would be it because I do
- 19:05Speaker 1: the same thing where I like shut other people. I
- 19:09Speaker 1: make my world small. Yes, me too. So then does
- 19:13Speaker 1: that make me like inherently a bad have bad behavior
- 19:18Speaker 1: that I need to fix myself? I guess the answer
- 19:21Speaker 1: would be yes. And that's why I need three ghosts
- 19:23Speaker 1: to come visit me. Okay. But then I'm sitting here
- 19:25Speaker 1: thinking like, once again, like I still think when it
- 19:29Speaker 1: comes to her again, quote unquote, bad behavior, it's herself
- 19:35Speaker 1: that she's harming, like changing her behavior. Like, Is she
- 19:40Speaker 1: supporting Tracy's career? No. But ultimately, as we see, the
- 19:45Speaker 1: person who that's going to hurt is Everly. Like Tracy
- 19:48Speaker 1: is going to go on and have this success. costume
- 19:50Speaker 1: designing career. Right. Yeah. Like she's going to make her
- 19:55Speaker 1: Tracy's going to make her own way. So she's not
- 19:59Speaker 1: ruining Tracy's life. Well, yes. And we see that Bo
- 20:03Speaker 1: goes on and has a very own family.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 1: So the person who is hurt here is herself. So
- 20:09Speaker 1: the question is, do you need to be visited by
- 20:11Speaker 1: three ghosts? Or do I already have the self-realization that
- 20:14Speaker 1: I should? Well, I mean, clearly. But I think the
- 20:17Speaker 1: question is, I think it's really interesting that. When you.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Man, deep thoughts on Hallmark today. I know, but I just... Anyway,
- 20:26Speaker 1: let's move on. Okay.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Okay.
- 20:28Speaker 1: And I want to talk about Kevin McGarry, because we
- 20:30Speaker 1: haven't even talked about him. Yeah. He surprised me. You know,
- 20:34Speaker 1: we don't get him in a ton of movies. Yeah.
- 20:37Speaker 1: And I can't remember when I said it at the
- 20:40Speaker 1: beginning of what... Oh, Villa Moore. I know a lot
- 20:42Speaker 1: of people like that movie. I don't think I loved it.
- 20:45Speaker 1: But God, I like to mess this guy up. I
- 20:48Speaker 1: really did, too. And I think because we're not Hardys. Like,
- 20:51Speaker 1: you know, he spends a lot of his time over
- 20:53Speaker 1: on When Calls the Heart. Yeah. Like, he and Aaron Krakow,
- 20:58Speaker 1: in my opinion, don't get enough of an opportunity to
- 21:02Speaker 1: break out of that role. I do think this is
- 21:06Speaker 1: a nice, like, Hardy-Chessie crossover. Like, those fandoms are going
- 21:09Speaker 1: to collide here. Oh, sure. But I agree with you.
- 21:11Speaker 1: We don't see... You and I don't see a lot
- 21:13Speaker 1: of him. And I... I think I had said in
- 21:18Speaker 1: our first impression episode that I wasn't entirely sure about
- 21:20Speaker 1: this pairing. And just because I didn't know enough. I
- 21:26Speaker 1: also don't think we've seen enough of Megan Ori, if
- 21:27Speaker 1: I'm being perfectly honest. Star of Chesapeake Shores, not a show.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I've only seen a couple episodes of that. This was
- 21:35Speaker 1: the best I've ever seen her. She was Little Red
- 21:37Speaker 1: Riding Hood in Once Upon a Time, so I know
- 21:39Speaker 1: her from that. Anyway, I enjoyed the pairing of them, too.
- 21:42Speaker 1: Kevin McGarry was a pleasant surprise. Me neither. Let's take
- 21:45Speaker 1: a quick break and we'll come back to talk our wishes.
- 21:48Speaker 1: All right, Wendy, what did you wish for about this movie?
- 21:59Speaker 1: I only have two very small wishes. My first biggest
- 22:03Speaker 1: one is I wish I understood a little bit. bit
- 22:06Speaker 1: better what Everly wasn't understanding. I watched this movie twice
- 22:10Speaker 1: because I was like, what am I missing here? What
- 22:13Speaker 1: am I missing that Everly is missing? It's that exchange
- 22:17Speaker 1: that happens when they're in the past and she's watching...
- 22:22Speaker 1: Her college-aged self with Bo. It's that scene there where, like,
- 22:25Speaker 1: Rux comes up and, like, she gets interrupted. And I'm like,
- 22:29Speaker 1: what did I miss here? Why was she not understanding
- 22:32Speaker 1: that Bo was, this is where Bo was, like, interested
- 22:35Speaker 1: in her and she didn't realize it in the moment
- 22:39Speaker 1: at all? And then for the 20 years later. But
- 22:42Speaker 1: isn't that kind of like a classic, like, you know,
- 22:46Speaker 1: this person is like, do you have an answer to
- 22:48Speaker 1: that question of like what she was missing? Because I
- 22:51Speaker 1: think she says it later on is like she was
- 22:53Speaker 1: so afraid of what she might lose in acknowledging his
- 22:57Speaker 1: affection for her that she wasn't willing to take that risk.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Maybe I missed that too. I do think she says it.
- 23:05Speaker 1: I do think you're right in that it paints a
- 23:07Speaker 1: picture that she's fully unaware of his affection for her.
- 23:12Speaker 1: And I don't know how you could be. I don't
- 23:14Speaker 1: know how you missed that. Yeah. I didn't think she was, like,
- 23:18Speaker 1: so self-absorbed. Mm-mm. Or... Mm-mm. I mean, I guess, like,
- 23:23Speaker 1: if her relationship with the guy... Which, by the way,
- 23:27Speaker 1: that scene where she rips down the... Screen? Screen. Yeah. And, like,
- 23:32Speaker 1: sees the... That was very... Yeah, the shadows. I felt bad, too.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Although it is in my wish when she's like, how
- 23:41Speaker 1: could you? It was like one step too far.
- 23:45Speaker 2: Why?
- 23:46Speaker 1: We'll get there. I want to know more. Okay, that's
- 23:50Speaker 1: all about my wishes. The other little one is maybe
- 23:53Speaker 1: just like 15% fewer fake leaves in this one. I mean,
- 23:59Speaker 1: this set the tone. And it was like Halloween. So
- 24:02Speaker 1: like on their street, you know, like in front of
- 24:07Speaker 1: their shop, which the name of the shop was so
- 24:10Speaker 1: cute too. It just was a lot. That's all. What
- 24:15Speaker 1: do you have for wishes? I wanted a little more
- 24:17Speaker 1: heat in my smooch. I wanted it to like push
- 24:20Speaker 1: the smooch-o-meter a little bit. Interesting. Mm-hmm.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 24:23Speaker 1: I wanted a little more heat. I mean, they've been
- 24:25Speaker 1: waiting like 30 years for this moment. Mm-hmm. Yeah. You
- 24:29Speaker 1: think they would be ripping each other's clothes off? A
- 24:31Speaker 1: little bit. It's not their first date. Yeah. Not like
- 24:34Speaker 1: they don't know each other, right? Yeah. So you and
- 24:36Speaker 1: I experienced the cheating reveal a little bit differently. I
- 24:40Speaker 1: did see it coming from a mile away when she's like,
- 24:41Speaker 1: where's Rex? Where's Rex? And we know like she's not
- 24:43Speaker 1: with Rex. And then of course, I thought it was
- 24:45Speaker 1: like pretty dramatic that everybody had to see it. She
- 24:48Speaker 1: wasn't like- Yes. That, well done. No wonder she hates Halloween.
- 24:53Speaker 1: I did think her like, how could you and running away,
- 24:55Speaker 1: like a little bit, A little bit cheesy.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Okay?
- 24:58Speaker 1: Really? Yes, I'm sorry. But that's it. But that's it.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Let's talk. Did you see that? When did they film
- 25:04Speaker 1: this movie? There was some cold breath happening. Quite literally
- 25:07Speaker 1: my number one question. It must have been earlier this year,
- 25:10Speaker 1: like at the beginning of the year, right? I mean,
- 25:13Speaker 1: there's no way that Jeff Beasley's pumping out six movies
- 25:15Speaker 1: this holiday season and they were all done six weeks ago. Man,
- 25:19Speaker 1: it looked cold. Nobody wants Halloween with breath in the air.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Although.
- 25:24Speaker 1: Except you do. You probably do. I do. And I
- 25:27Speaker 1: think it's... People that don't live here in Southern California,
- 25:30Speaker 1: where it is a balmy 95 degrees on October 7th,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I think they do experience cold Halloween. They're like, I
- 25:37Speaker 1: gotta get a costume that I can put a coat
- 25:39Speaker 1: under for my children. That's so wild to me. Yeah.
- 25:43Speaker 1: That's very foreign to us here. Totally. What else do
- 25:45Speaker 1: you have for digi-see that? At the coffee stand... those
- 25:48Speaker 1: are empty cups of coffee just drives me crazy when
- 25:51Speaker 1: like they were she was holding like a cardboard tray
- 25:54Speaker 1: of four coffees and you're just like flinging them around
- 25:56Speaker 1: flinging it around like put some water in those it
- 26:00Speaker 1: just the person who makes a weighted paper coffee cup
- 26:04Speaker 1: for prop purposes will have my heart forever and ever
- 26:09Speaker 1: like it doesn't need to have liquid in it i
- 26:11Speaker 1: understand the limitations of that yeah that's gonna make noise Okay.
- 26:16Speaker 1: Put some quick cement in it. Yeah. Yeah. My last
- 26:19Speaker 1: did you see that? And we're going to talk about
- 26:21Speaker 1: it because I know you have things to say. But
- 26:24Speaker 1: Lachlan is real tall, taller than everybody in every one
- 26:27Speaker 1: of his scenes. Again, I looked it up. It says
- 26:29Speaker 1: he's 6'4. I didn't. You know, he's on that horse
- 26:32Speaker 1: in Hope Valley. Like, you don't realize he's a big man.
- 26:36Speaker 1: So I have been thinking, I actually DMed Jeff Beasley
- 26:39Speaker 1: about this. He didn't answer. I wonder if it's a
- 26:41Speaker 1: trick of the filming because he's either Megan Ori is
- 26:45Speaker 1: five feet tall, which I do not. He's so much
- 26:49Speaker 1: taller than everybody else. Ghost of Christmas Future in the
- 26:53Speaker 1: movies is often this like big, looming, hooded figure. And
- 26:58Speaker 1: so I wonder if it was intentionally like they filmed
- 27:02Speaker 1: it in a way to make him look so much like,
- 27:03Speaker 1: is he standing on a box and all of his scenes? I,
- 27:06Speaker 1: I need to know because it's not just like he's taller.
- 27:09Speaker 1: He's significantly taller than everybody else. How tall is your husband?
- 27:13Speaker 1: Cause he's tall. He's six, three. How tall are you? Five,
- 27:17Speaker 1: almost six. How tall is Megan Ori? You're five, five, five,
- 27:21Speaker 1: five and a half. No way. You're taller than that.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I'm not. I used to be five, six. I'm not anymore.
- 27:25Speaker 1: Years of terrible posture have shrunk my spine. Internet says
- 27:30Speaker 1: Megonori is 5'7. Yeah, see... 6'4 is a tall dude.
- 27:34Speaker 1: 6'4 is a tall dude. I'm telling you, you need
- 27:36Speaker 1: to look at the photos. He's like head and shoulders
- 27:39Speaker 1: taller than her. Let's see if there's... Look, I got
- 27:42Speaker 1: to see. Is there a photo on the press site?
- 27:43Speaker 1: I could not stop looking at it. So you think
- 27:46Speaker 1: they made him visually tall? I think it's intentional. Yes. Well,
- 27:49Speaker 1: I remember seeing his feet in one and he was
- 27:51Speaker 1: not standing on a box. Yes, I know. Yes, I agree.
- 27:54Speaker 1: That's why I DMed Jeff and I'm like, how did
- 27:57Speaker 1: you make him look so tall? But he's like, he
- 27:59Speaker 1: is tall. He was like, I don't understand the question.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Megan's scrolling through the press photos right now. How chic
- 28:06Speaker 1: is Megan Ori's costumes? Like her wardrobe in this film.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Her Ghost Bride costume I loved. Why are they loading
- 28:14Speaker 1: like weirdly like this? Yes, I noticed. They must have
- 28:17Speaker 1: changed something because same thing. Look at this photo. I'm sorry.
- 28:22Speaker 1: That is an enormous. Look how big he looks. I
- 28:25Speaker 1: think he's a big dude. And she's just little. She's
- 28:29Speaker 1: just this petite little woman. She might be. He just
- 28:32Speaker 1: looks so much bigger than I've ever seen him look.
- 28:35Speaker 1: I don't know. Put this man in a leading role.
- 28:37Speaker 1: See here. A little bit better. Yeah. Like this looks like, okay,
- 28:41Speaker 1: she's 5'7 and he's 6'3. I'll dump these photos in
- 28:45Speaker 1: our show notes, so guys, come over to girlsgonehallmark.com and
- 28:48Speaker 1: look and see what we're looking at. Okay, but now,
- 28:50Speaker 1: oh no, but he's standing on a pedestal in this scene. So, okay.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I have more digits that are more interesting than this.
- 28:58Speaker 1: First of all, this is the third sexy measuring scene
- 29:00Speaker 1: in a recent Hallmark movie that we've had. Did you
- 29:02Speaker 1: think of it when she was drawing on the jacket?
- 29:04Speaker 1: I wouldn't call it sexy, but there's like a little
- 29:06Speaker 1: bit towards the end. When Tracy was measuring the avocados.
- 29:10Speaker 1: no i'm joking i'm joking yeah when everly is like
- 29:14Speaker 1: having that scene with bow towards the beginning there's like
- 29:17Speaker 1: a moment where they like have a connection whatever it's
- 29:19Speaker 1: it's it's you know if i had i like it
- 29:23Speaker 1: yeah it's just we we see we've been seeing it
- 29:25Speaker 1: a lot yeah this measuring scene this year add this
- 29:28Speaker 1: to the i hate this tally the fire department halloween
- 29:30Speaker 1: party is on halloween i just i just don't think
- 29:32Speaker 1: so i know but i love the community aspect of it.
- 29:35Speaker 1: I know. It's so cute. I know. Rex wanted her
- 29:39Speaker 1: to go as a hot nurse. Gross, but tells us
- 29:42Speaker 1: everything we need to know about this dude who we
- 29:44Speaker 1: never really actually meet. I love that they said it, though.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I mean, me too. The black void scenes with the
- 29:52Speaker 1: ghost of the present lit by a cell phone. Yeah, hilarious.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Loved that. the post-it note invasion. So at the beginning,
- 30:01Speaker 1: when her mentor Anna visits her and she's like, you're
- 30:04Speaker 1: going to be visited by three spirits. And she's like,
- 30:06Speaker 1: what the hell is this? Right. As she leaves, there's
- 30:09Speaker 1: like a series of post-it notes that she keeps finding.
- 30:11Speaker 1: And she's like, you know, expect three ghosts. And then
- 30:14Speaker 1: the next one is like in the next 24 hours
- 30:15Speaker 1: and then give or take, and then we can do
- 30:17Speaker 1: this all night. Right. And like, I really keeps grabbing
- 30:19Speaker 1: them and throwing them away. It is very like, the
- 30:22Speaker 1: hogwarts letter via the owl both the movie and the
- 30:25Speaker 1: book that they cannot stop from coming if you know
- 30:28Speaker 1: you know also i love that the skateboarding kid who
- 30:31Speaker 1: knocks everly's coffee over turns out to be the halloween
- 30:35Speaker 1: present ghost and then she.
- 30:36Speaker 2: Puts four dollars in her pocket it's just so cute
- 30:39Speaker 2: and how do they do that little heart in the
- 30:42Speaker 2: steam on the window like she's not actually there they
- 30:44Speaker 2: just make it i thought that was well done yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I yeah i don't know All right, what did you
- 30:50Speaker 1: rate this movie? I gave it 4.75 stars. That's what
- 30:53Speaker 1: I gave it to. That's what I gave it to.
