- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: When you don't have a specialty topic, event organizers don't know where to place you.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_01]: And in fact, event organizers don't build events around the people that the speakers, they build it around topics, that they think are meaningful to their audience.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: So if you don't have a topic that matches the framework, that they're looking to fill, they will never call upon you.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_00]: Hey everyone, welcome to No Like Trust for Real Estate, where I help you craft branding and marketing strategies that align with your unique strengths.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Christine George and agents who work with me grow their business on average by 40% by aligning their marketing with who they are, not what they sell.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: Today's conversation is for anyone like me who's ever thought you have something to say, you know you can make an impact, but you're not sure what to say or where to say it.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: My guest today is Kendall Bonner.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_00]: She is a nationally recognized sponsor.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: speaker, moderator, and industry voice whose has built a reputation for having high impact meaningful conversations on some of real estate's most respected stages.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: Kendall is also the founder of Industry Speaks Academy, which is a brand new program designed for professionals who don't just want a mic, but they want to be able to be in the right rooms having the right conversations and to be able to make an impact.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: What I love about Kendall's program is that she reframe speaking not a self-promotion, but as a service that builds credibility and leadership.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: Today, we talked all about how to be speaker-ready and how to use speaking as a proven approach to stand out.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: Take a listen.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_00]: Kendall, welcome to the no like trust pot.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad you're here.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: I am so happy to be here.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_00]: This is amazing and thank you for having me.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to dig right in.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: Today we're talking about industry speaks academy and I want to know what was happening on your because you're a big speaker, you know, you're naturally recognized speaker.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: What was happening in your career that made you realize something was missing in our industry?
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, thank you for that.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: And thank you for the opportunity to share the story behind the industry speaks Academy.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: What happened for me was I had had several people in particular, some young women to that had come to me and asked me and said, Kendall, I see one stages.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_01]: I want to do that too.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm ready.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: What do I do?
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: How do I get there?
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: I say this I was I feel like a jerk now but my because I didn't want I didn't know it to tell them but the answer I gave I think was a I acknowledge was an answer that had no empathy in it which I'm ashamed to say but I'm being honest so I'm confessing so please forgive me but it was something on the lines up.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I mean, I don't know how to duplicate what I'm doing, but, you know, I mean, if you want to be on more stages, like, go build it, right?
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, go build a stage.
- 2:51[SPEAKER_01]: And that is the most, that is the meanest, cruelest answer I could ever give.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, in my own head, I've decided that that that was a terrible answer.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: And after wrestling with that, I realized, like, I don't have
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: And that answer, Kendall, was not good enough.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: And I was so mad at myself over that.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I called those women I apologize.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: I said, oh my god, I came to believe I said that to you.
- 3:14[SPEAKER_01]: But I built it.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_01]: I decided that someone needed to build the room, offer seats at the table.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I realized that I had built all these relationships over the years that gave me an opportunity to be actually able to do it.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_01]: isn't it?
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: I'm ashamed of my answer.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm proud of my reaction and response to it.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: My pro-action to the fact that, you know, that was not a good enough answer.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I needed to be able to offer people.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: a journey and a path that allowed them to explore what I consider to be one of the most life-changing experiences I've ever had, which is all of these opportunities I've had on stage.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: 100%.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you are, you know, the voice of all voices.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you're on some of the most respected stages out there.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't think it was your responsibility, by the way, to do that.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: what you do, that's part of what makes you so impactful.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_00]: My follow-up question really is, what assumptions did the industry make about or does the industry make about?
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Who's a good speaker and who's not?
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a good question too, and I think that it's explored through the lens of the event organizers, right?
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so when you're thinking about pursuing a career and or a hobby,
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: of speaking on stages, or you're recognizing it as a journey or a path towards a transition, what I refer to as moving from a personal brand to an industry brand.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: You have to experience that to the lens that they have been organizers.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: And these event organizers are often
- 4:57[SPEAKER_01]: Not necessarily people who have sat in our shoes, meaning they're not always former realtors.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: They have a special craft and a special skill set that allows them to design and create events and conferences that are exciting and engaging.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: And you could plug them into any industry in any space and they can read it's a repeat duplicatable process for them, right?
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: Because it's just skill set.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: But when they're thinking about speakers, they are limited to whatever knowledge and exposure they have.
- 5:27[SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes certain speakers or certain events are looking for who are the CEOs and the sea suites and the executives of these companies and let's hear their voices, right?
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: Which is great.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: But at the same time, a lot of those sea suites are so
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: far from boots on the ground that they are not quite as relatable to like the boots on the ground audience, right?
- 5:52[SPEAKER_01]: So it's important to bring in experts and leaders who can speak to that specific audience.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's one of the things that's made me special.
- 5:59[SPEAKER_01]: I've been able to I call it I speak real estate agent, right?
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_01]: I'd love translating things that are, you know, sometimes out of a typical real estate agents will house or experience level and then bringing it to them in a way that's digestible and consumable and like, oh, okay, I completely understand that and now I know what to do going forward, right?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: I enjoy.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: interpreting for real estate professionals myself.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that the more people we can find that have an aspiration to what I refer to as take their experience and turn it into contribution.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's a really, really powerful step forward when event organizers can find people who can really articulate that in a meaningful way and an impactful way for their audiences.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a great point and it's a good segue for this next question which is you talk about speaker readiness versus speaker coaching and I feel like that's a very intentional choice of words talk about that.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: What does that mean?
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is intentional because
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: I am not trying to work with someone who is not necessarily, I want to, I should say who I'm not working with.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's really, I want to work with people who want to contribute back.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: I want to work with people.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_01]: who want to understand what I refer to as the assignment of the room, right?
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: The assignment of the stage.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: And so in doing that, I recognize it's not always just about coaching.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: It is helping you check all the boxes.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: So some of the boxes around readiness include how to treat the staff, right?
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: How to treat the staff that are doing the recording, that are doing the production,
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: extend or or behave before and after the event right like so that you can extend the invitation and you can get another referral or opportunity to speak again.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's also to about creating the signals right a lot of times people don't get on stage because they're not offering the proper signals.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: And if you give me just a little bit of freedom here to kind of share something that I put together, that this was my big aha when I realized, yes, why an academy like this could be meaningful to people.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: And this is the why and the what behind the academy for me was when I finally sat down and thought about what does it look like for someone to go from expert to industry contributor,
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: it requires what I refer to as, you know, the three credibility's.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I find most speakers, it's not that they need coaching so much as they have what I refer to as the credibility gap.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: And so what is the credibility gap, you ask?
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's just three credibility's.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: I realize that it takes to move from leader to, you know, industry contributor, like I said.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: And the first one is street credibility.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: Right, that proof that you know what you're doing.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: You're expert in your field.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_01]: You are a leader and most speakers, they absolutely have to have that.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: All speakers have to have that.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't have that, you can't even step to the table, right?
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm looking for people that already have street credibility.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: to work on this in this program and in this academy.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: So that's step number one.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: But most people think that's all they need.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: Like, hey, I'm an expert, put me on stage.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: I know my stuff.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_01]: And that's that's just one step and a three step process.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: The second step that most aspiring speakers and existing speakers need to work on is what I refer to as performance credibility.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: This is that I've done this before.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_01]: I know what to do.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm very prepared and I know what my specialties are.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll stop to pause here to just share an example.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of the people I'm working with tell me.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to be in a box.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_01]: I can talk about anything.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: I know this.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know that.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know that and it's very general.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I have
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: remind them, I said, that's part of your problem.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: When you don't have a specialty topic, event organizers don't know where to place you.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: And in fact, event organizers don't build events around the people that the speakers, they build it around topics, that they think are meaningful to their audience.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: So if you don't have a topic that matches the framework,
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: that they're looking to fill, they will never call upon you, right?
- 10:27[SPEAKER_01]: So part of building that performance credibility is building out your talk, understanding your speaking points, understanding your reframe, understanding the audience and how you can coach yourself, right, and how you speak from one audience versus the other audience, right?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's performance credibility and building all of that.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then the third credibility that a lot of people are missing,
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: as what I refer to as referral credibility, meaning someone has to sometimes refer you, recommend you.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: But more importantly, you also have to properly signal, hey, I'm a speaker, and you know, if it organizes, come find me, I want to work with you.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so what the Academy does is it helps to fill that credibility gap by giving you opportunity to build on your performance credibility and then build on your referral
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that's why it's really more about readiness and not just coaching.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so experience credibility, performance, credibility and referral, credibility.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: Those are sort of the three, three-legged stool pillars of your program.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, love it.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: I hate that you had to say, like, how to treat the staff.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: Can I just point that out for a quick second?
- 11:40[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, in our business, we should know how to treat...
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's even just being courteous.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes they get ignored, right?
- 11:49[SPEAKER_01]: So there's out there that it's not that they treat people poorly, but they just ignored them, which is also sometimes just as impactful.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: I'll never forget, I was on a stage once, and I took a moment to thank.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: the videographers and the whole team for like putting on such a recording and leading such a great event backstage, I think them.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll never forget all the thank yous I got from them after that.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: They're like nobody recognizes us.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, right?
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: I remember the camera person peeking out from behind the camera and like giving me the thumbs up, like thank you.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_01]: We're here working really hard, you know, people that clean up in between the room changes.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like acknowledging them, giving them a smile and saying, hey, thank you for doing what you do.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's just, to me, that's just being a good human being, you know, all of that, but at the same time, it's, you never know who's watching and people are learning from that experience.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and that goes back to, you know, sort of what,
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: I think what you're trying to drive here is less about self-promotion and more about leadership and impact, right?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: And that exact, that those little things that you just talked about appreciating the staff align with that, right?
- 13:00[SPEAKER_00]: Can you speak about that?
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: So when you're looking to bring people into the industry, a cat, a speaking academy, I mean, I can name a lot of people off the top of my head who just want to get up there on stage because they want to be seen.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: They don't necessarily care about making an impact.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: Who are you trying to bring into the academy?
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: And this actually connects perfectly to what we've been talking about, because clarity in your business isn't just about marketing, it's about what's happening behind the scenes too.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: If you're a solopreneur, you know how this goes.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_00]: Receipts everywhere, expenses for gotten, and then tax season shows up, and, well, it's just not fun, right?
- 13:35[SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly why we built BeKeeper AI.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: BeKeeper AI is an AI powered, human verified, conversational, text-based, expense assistant designed for solopreneurs.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: No apps to open, no software to learn, no tax season scrambling.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: You simply text your expenses as they happen.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_00]: Bekeeper AI captures them and a real human verifies everything, so nothing slips through the cracks.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: We're opening early access right now, and I'd love for you to be part of it.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_00]: Head to bekeeperAI.com slash waitlist to sign up.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: That's the letter B, keeperai.com slash waitlist.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'll see you there.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's a great question.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I 100% am not aligned with ego, right?
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: So if you are someone that wants to speak on stages because somehow you feel like it's an ego play or something along those lines, I'm probably not the right academy for you because I will probably tell you things that would try to coach you out of that, right?
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: But I'll give you an example.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_01]: I listen to a beautiful, well done speaker
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought to myself, Dr. Zover, while her performance was beautiful, her impact was zero.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, reason why is because that entire talk was a story about her experiences and she never did what I refer to as the pull through for the audience.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_01]: If you're gonna tell a story from stage, a lot of people think it's their opportunity to tell their story.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm trying to remind them, it's really not about your story.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's about how your story led to lessons that the audience can take away and apply in their own way.
- 15:21[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're not focused on the audience as a result of your speaking, this is why you don't get reinvited.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: This is why you don't get offered the opportunity to be on the stage because if there's nothing for the audience to pull through and take away and be impacted and moved and inspired to change or to activate something.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: you didn't do your job.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: And because that is the point of being on stage.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's not about you.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's not about your story.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's not about your ego.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's about finding ways to contribute to that audience and having them feel like they were moved and inspired by your time and impact from the stage.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_01]: And what the make?
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_00]: So how do you help speakers shift out of that?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: because you know, even if you bring the right people and they're still this, oh, I'm gonna be famous.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_00]: You know, right?
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: How do you shift them out of that into contribution?
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so what I built, this gets actually into the what of the academy.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think this is a whole, what makes it special.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: because it's not really coaching like I said per se.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: It is building performance and referral credibility.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I've built what I refer to as five frameworks and each framework builds upon the other, right?
- 16:40[SPEAKER_01]: So, from find your voice to uh...
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: speak with passions, protect the stage, close with competence, and get the invite.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Each of those five frameworks are an acronym within themselves, which include lessons.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so the experience that I have for people in the academy is they learn these lessons, and I go deep on that very thing about how you cannot make it about you, and why it's important, and it's built into the various lessons throughout the coursework.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: I also even built a custom GPT because I'm an AI nerd.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: If anybody knows me, you know this about me already.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm proud of all of my art and my creativity with AI.
- 17:19[SPEAKER_01]: I love it and I encourage others to do it too.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: But I built a custom GPT framework code that gives that objective feedback around your talks back to you based on the frameworks, which is all about pulling you out of ego.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: We've been example so I wrote a talk recently that I plan to start delivering here come this spring season for some events that I have and I ran the talks I wrote it out and I ran it through the GPT and it gave me really good constructive feedback right.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: And even told me, it's like, hey, you've done this, but it's not battle tested yet.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, it's not.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's brand new.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like it could tell based on my frameworks and how I wrote it.
- 17:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, but this was solid in this way.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_01]: And that way.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I thought, like, this is the kind of feedback loop people need because what happened is you go on stage.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, you come off, how do I do it?
- 18:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, you did create even when you know, you bombed.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: Well, guess what, that beat that's helpful.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: no, you're never going to grow with that feedback.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care how great you are.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I used to have to go to my husband and I'd say, because I knew he would give me the real, like he would tell me no, be rambled, you got didn't make any sense.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, okay, thank you.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's good for me to know because this is where I can improve and grow in this craft that I'm working on.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really about going from talent to skill.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: That's also what all of this Academy is.
- 18:40[SPEAKER_01]: And so the other piece of the Academy is, I refer to as a lab.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: And this is where people bring their talks and they perform them in front of a small audience.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: And the whole point of that is to get practice in that performance credibility built by doing a talk over and over again and getting real constructive feedback, right?
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: you did a strong opening, but the closing was weak.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: Or hey, you told some stories, but there wasn't a pull-through.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: There wasn't a good lesson there for me to talk a walk away from.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: So why the story?
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: You know, things are that nature.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: So you'll get that constructive feedback that is both objective and subjective, because it's based on the frameworks, but also from the audience
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's the real movement that needs to happen for people to grow in this area.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_00]: It's always like, you always have to have that, what's in it for me?
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: Like, what's in it for your audience, right?
- 19:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I know people listening are probably asking, is this performance the lab?
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: Is it online or is it in person?
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Because it is online.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the monthly reoccurring is online, but I am planning to do a host and in person event once a year, maybe twice depending on how well it goes, where you will get that opportunity to perform on an actual state and front of a live audience and the goal here is also to help you build that referral credibility because I will also be offering media packages so that people can build the the referral signals that.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: this event organizers are looking for.
- 20:11[SPEAKER_01]: I will tell you one of the most frustrating things event organizers experience is when they ask for speaking samples and you send them a copy of a podcast.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's great, but that's not the same as being on stage, right?
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: So these are the kinds of things that
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: speakers and aspiring speakers need to know and understand it's a part of the readiness part of this business that when they are looking to work with event organizers it's important to have the right signals in place the right speaker bio put together and the the academy is going to help our speakers build that so that it's something quick simple easy done for them and a part
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: these offers, they can respond properly and accurately with the relevant information to the event organizers.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_00]: 100% that's so important to have a media kit for sure.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_00]: So what kinds of opportunities are your speakers or can they expect coming out of the academy?
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: So before even built this, I went and asked,
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: I actually texted all my friends who are also event organizers, so that's like the in men, the housing wire, the RIS media.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: I went to Zillow, you know, everyone I knew that runs big conferences and I asked them.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I said, if I build this,
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: would you support it and would you source speakers from it?
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: And they said a hundred percent yes, their fans of this, I think this is needed in the industry and they'd love to source speakers from the academy because it makes it simple for them.
- 21:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm really excited about that part is that I did that homework first.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: I made sure that
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't just building something that in any way just benefited me, but it actually would have an industry impact.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: So I intend to start with real estate, but my goal is to expand into other markets and other industries, including mortgage and some others.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm super excited about.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: I already have some calls lined up for that.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: Also some media opportunities, I have a couple of media groups that I'm working with that are always looking for real estate related professionals that they can tap into for market knowledge and advice and things of that nature.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm excited.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just looking for the right speakers to put on the platform because I already have a bit organizers wanting to source speakers from us.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a great side.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I'm so excited.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait to see this come to life.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_00]: So for someone who's listening that sort of feels that nudge right now, but they're not really sure if they're ready, what steps can they take, what advice do you have?
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: So on my website, I have two different resources that aspiring speakers could and should leverage.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: So the first one is the authority gap, right?
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: So it's designed to help you figure out, have you built up enough of that experience credibility and enough of that street credibility?
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: And if that's your first step.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: right, that you, whether you own this or not, right, what your topics are and that you own them.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that's, and it's not a yes or no, it's really just kind of a guy to let people know like where they're at in that phase of their career and in that phase of their experience.
- 23:28[SPEAKER_01]: So there's no, like, yes, no scenario.
- 23:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's really just, like, here, here's just an honest look at where you're at currently.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: The second opportunity is what I call the speaker readiness checklist.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's also on the website.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a place that people can go.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: And really, you just click through all the things that you are either, you, it's a yes or no, right?
- 23:48[SPEAKER_01]: Where you're at and what's beautiful about it is,
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: any of the things that are knows, that's really your, that becomes your next step, as in this program.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: So if you haven't done that yet, that's the next thing you need to do and next thing you need to work on.
- 24:02[SPEAKER_00]: The speaker checklist on your website.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_00]: Fantastic.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_00]: So at the end of the day, what does success look like for you with your academy?
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for me, like my big hairy audacious goal is probably 500 speakers across five industries.
- 24:20[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I've read about 50 to 100 speakers in each category, like main category, right, of conference life.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: and you know hundreds and thousands of event organizers plugged in, leveraging the academy and booking speakers.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm not a speaker's bureau, meaning I'm not here to negotiate contracts between speakers and event organizers.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: My goal is just to be a connector.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: right because that's one of the biggest challenges that speakers also have is how do I connect with the event organized?
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: How do I find them?
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: How do I source them?
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: And it's the same for event organizers.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: How do I find and source quality speakers that I know understand the assignment of the room?
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: So my goal is to build an ecosystem that allows the two pairs to find one another easily
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: make sense, make sense for both parties.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_00]: And it's quite honestly a major contribution, what you're doing, really to level up the industry and other industries as well.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I do love that.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_00]: So if someone wants to explore the academy, where do they go?
- 25:28[SPEAKER_00]: How do they find out information?
- 25:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I have a website that you can go to and it's called speak on real estate stages.com and that's where you can learn more and you can find out about the academy, read our manifesto, answer your frequently asked questions are pricing menu, I have transparent pricing on there, so the pricing is right on the website, so there's no.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: surprises are hiding the ball.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would like to be a very transparent and proactive and intentional human being, business owner and leader.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_01]: So that is something for me that was a non-negotiable.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: So and there's an application to join right on the website.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: You can feel that out and then your next step after that would be to book a call with me to make sure we're both in alignment because I want to make sure your expectations are not only met but exceeded.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: Awesome.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: And is it a rolling enrollment or is it, you know, are you doing this sort of
- 26:20[SPEAKER_00]: you know, a more on a project basis.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, it's a rolling enrollment.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: And what happens is I have cohorts that are aligned.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: And so once a cohort meets its max capacity, I'll start another one.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the.
- 26:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's designed, so again, because it's a lab and the training is on demand, so I'm never held up to train because with time you come to the lab, you've already done the homework and then now you're coming into the lab to get your reps in and get your practice, get your feedback loop so that you can grow and collect that readiness credibility as quickly as possible.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: Some okay give me the website one more time and I'll make sure we have it in the show notes.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's speak on real estate stages dot com.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_00]: Okay perfect speak on real estate stages dot com and as we wrap up finish the sentence.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: No like trust is.

- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I will be there.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_01]: I will be there at three stage opportunities.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm staying and moderating, so it's going to be great.
