Latest / The Kink Consultant / Behind The Scenes of Rouge: The Sexiest Show In Vegas with Zion and Poppy
Transcript
- 0:08It's the King Consultant podcast where we're turning up the heat
- 0:11on all things kink and dating, relationships and pop culture.
- 0:14So close the door, plug in your headphones, and let's get down
- 0:17to it. Hey everyone and welcome to a
- 0:24very special episode of The King Consultant because we are in
- 0:28person with Zion and Poppy of Rouge.
- 0:31If you guys remember correctly, I am reviewing all of the
- 0:34kinkiest shows in Vegas and I very easily awarded Rouge #1
- 0:40Kinkiest show in Vegas. You guys fucking rocked.
- 0:43It had to have you on just to get inside your brains of how
- 0:48you created such a wonderful show.
- 0:50Welcome. Thanks for having us.
- 0:51We're very happy to be here. Yeah.
- 0:52Thank you. We're really excited to be here.
- 0:54The elephant in the room is you made such a kinky show, you must
- 0:58be kinky, right? Not really.
- 1:02We've often been described as people's most interesting
- 1:07vanilla friends. So we're a monogamous
- 1:09relationship. We've been together 11 years.
- 1:11We have kids. We're very like.
- 1:14Family. Family orientated, but we really
- 1:16love hearing about what crazy things people do and how they do
- 1:21it and what people are into. And I feel like doing the show,
- 1:23we've actually learned a lot because if the audience yells
- 1:27out something that we've never heard of before, we'll always go
- 1:29and look it up or something. So I feel like we're so much
- 1:33more knowledgeable now from doing the show.
- 1:35Yeah, and we're good at pretending we know what people
- 1:37are talking about because what we found a lot when we opened is
- 1:40like, the owner of the show and the producers and even some of
- 1:44the tech people were like, whoa, this guy knows everything.
- 1:47He knows all these crazy things. What's he into?
- 1:49And I'm like, no, I'm Googling them.
- 1:51Yeah, I'm running backstage and I'm going Urban Dictionary.
- 1:53What is this? I have that I call myself the
- 1:56King consultant and I run into things and I'm like what the
- 1:58Frick is this? And I'm just like, I'm actually
- 2:00not familiar with that term, but I can't believe you guys do it.
- 2:02So I wanna start by saying I hope everyone who comes to Vegas
- 2:06goes to see Rouge. I say that because I saw Rouge
- 2:11maybe a year and a half ago and it's what prompted me to start
- 2:15Kinky's show in Vegas because I was like oh if this show is so
- 2:17kinky there must be a ton of shows like this and I have to
- 2:20say, Rouge is a cut above the rest.
- 2:22Not saying anything negative about all the other amazing
- 2:25shows I've been to, but I felt like you guys were the most
- 2:28authentically kinky. In our opinion, we do a lot of
- 2:31the improv comedy. Yeah, There's a lot of
- 2:33opportunity for people to bring what they want.
- 2:35And a lot of the time they say stuff that I never would have
- 2:38thought of. Last night someone said child
- 2:40support still don't know what they were talking about.
- 2:43I don't understand it but I mean.
- 2:45Man or woman? It was a guy.
- 2:47It was a young guy with his friend.
- 2:49I was just like, I made a bunch of jokes about it.
- 2:52I was just trying to figure out what he meant by that.
- 2:54But that's what I mean. You never know what they're
- 2:56going to say. I am so glad I got to chat to
- 2:59you guys after the show and now when I watched the show I was
- 3:02like, oh this must be scripted. I thought there were moments
- 3:05where you were whispering to people what to answer because
- 3:08you were so quick with the responses.
- 3:11He is very quick here. OK, big question.
- 3:14There's a lot of audience interaction.
- 3:15I loved that about it. You ask people what their
- 3:17fantasy is, right? Yeah.
- 3:19How many people say threesome? So many, I would say that's like
- 3:22the most common response when we go down.
- 3:25So many people say threesome and it's such an easy answer because
- 3:29I try not to just use the same answer.
- 3:31But they're four person tables, yes.
- 3:33So instantly you just say, oh, that's awkward, Which one of you
- 3:36is getting left out? But it's so common.
- 3:38So the big ones are doggy style, reverse cowgirl, anal, threesome
- 3:44and then 69 as well. I said 69.
- 3:47Yeah, yeah. Yeah, but that's like the big
- 3:49ones that you hear majority of the time.
- 3:52And the hard part is not getting stuck in a loop of just saying
- 3:55the same exact answer every night.
- 3:57Well, no one else would know. But once it stops being funny to
- 4:01me, it stops being funny to them.
- 4:04That's a good point. OK, I do have more questions on
- 4:06this. OK, Yeah, I think audience
- 4:08interaction, it makes me nervous.
- 4:10I get to edit myself to the Max usually.
- 4:12How are you so good and calm like?
- 4:15Do you have tips? So what I find the hardest part
- 4:18of it is to actually filter and not say the things that you
- 4:22initially think. Okay, that's by far the hardest
- 4:25thing is don't overcomplicate it.
- 4:28Especially in Vegas, so much of our audience don't even speak
- 4:30English as their first language, which actually I have
- 4:33workarounds for some of that as well.
- 4:35But you just don't overcomplicate it and just
- 4:38remember they're way more nervous than you are, so you
- 4:40don't need to beat them down with something really horrible
- 4:43or really mean. A little pun, a little dad joke
- 4:46is fine, you know? And if you can't think of
- 4:49anything, you know, it always just works.
- 4:51Going. I have no idea what the hell
- 4:53that is, but I'm gonna look it up.
- 4:54There might have been one time you said that, I don't know, but
- 4:56that's really good. But can we just pause the
- 5:00beautiful Australian accents you have for.
- 5:02Oh, yeah, Those are your actual accents.
- 5:05Yes. You're from Australia.
- 5:06Yeah, but that's not how you sound in the show.
- 5:08No. So we put on like Southern
- 5:10accents for the show. We keep it pretty vague because
- 5:12we have a lot of international audience members.
- 5:15If we go too hard with the accent, which is what we did
- 5:18when we first opened, a lot of them can't understand the
- 5:22English. So we, you know, keep it a
- 5:24little bit more like lighter, but still have the twang in
- 5:28there. Yeah, and we kind of like that.
- 5:30We never address it because people think it's going to be
- 5:33for some joke or like especially I think there's a real thing in
- 5:36America we found where people think you gonna make fun of the
- 5:39Southern accent because it's silly Southern, nothing like
- 5:42that. It's just the.
- 5:43It's just the character. We never address it, we never
- 5:46bring it up. It's just how it is.
- 5:49I. Definitely at least thought you
- 5:50were American. You know, the accent is so well
- 5:54done and I don't know if the American accent is easy to do.
- 5:57Did you get any training? No, but we have both done some
- 6:00accent stuff in the past and not Southern.
- 6:03We did a different American. Yeah, but I don't know.
- 6:06It just worked. They were like, we want an
- 6:07accent and we were like, what accent?
- 6:09And they said we don't know. So I was like, I'll try this
- 6:12one. And it felt right, but.
- 6:14When they presented the costumes to us, we thought that that
- 6:17accent would go really well with how the costumes looked because
- 6:21there's like a little bit of the Kentucky style tie, you know,
- 6:25like the. Yeah.
- 6:26It's almost like as soon as I see you, I know that's going to
- 6:29be an accent because it is that like almost 1800s, yeah.
- 6:33There's like look, yes, with a bit of steampunk thrown in
- 6:36there, which it's a cool look, but it just didn't feel right
- 6:38with the Australian accent, to be honest with you.
- 6:41It seemed a bit misaligned, yeah.
- 6:44Which they picked up on. Oh, and I didn't even properly
- 6:46introduce you guys. Do you guys call yourself the
- 6:48creators of Rouge? No.
- 6:50So we host Rouge. So we do the comedy and the
- 6:53acrobatics. We didn't create the show.
- 6:55There's a director who, you know, got acts from all over the
- 6:59world and choreographer to do all the dancing and everything.
- 7:02But we do all of our comedy and. Yes, so we kind of created all
- 7:06of the comedy and stuff, but like with them.
- 7:09So there's like a boss above us who we had all these ideas and
- 7:12we're like, hey, and then he would be like, yes, no, yes, you
- 7:15know what I mean? Yeah, I guess final say and
- 7:16everything. He's the owner, he's the
- 7:18creator. Yes, and it's a fantastic show.
- 7:20But I do think the comedy is what actually sets it apart,
- 7:24because it is my favorite thing in a show.
- 7:27When there's audience work and you're actually having
- 7:29conversations with people about their actual sex lives or
- 7:32fantasies or jokes. I think that's what makes it fun
- 7:35and interesting and unique. I think it makes it really
- 7:38interactive as well. You know, you're not just there
- 7:41watching TV. It's like you become a part of
- 7:44the show. And we can really tell the
- 7:45moment when the show shifts from like just watching things and
- 7:49clapping to then, oh great, I can be like a part of this now.
- 7:53And it's a bit of like a pick your own adventure.
- 7:55If people go really hard with things, we'll go there too.
- 7:59But if they're a bit more conservative, we won't go as
- 8:02like full on with. Yeah, Here's a funny thing that
- 8:05I found is that I never swear until they swear.
- 8:08And then I found that that really helps with keeping the
- 8:13tone because it's a topless show, because it's a sexy show.
- 8:17I don't want to be the one bringing it there.
- 8:19So I'll wait. And if they swear, I'm swearing.
- 8:22Or maybe I'll say one word later on in the show, but I try not to
- 8:25swear. Which seems strange for such an
- 8:27intense show, but I feel like it keeps a bit more of a class to
- 8:32it. And then if they go dirty, I'm
- 8:33going dirty with them. I love that.
- 8:35That's good life advice. I'm always the first to curse.
- 8:37Like if a curse word's going to be said, I'm the one who's
- 8:40saying it. So I'm like, oh, I need to take
- 8:41that in my own life. Do you ever get people angry?
- 8:44I make some pretty full on jokes at people sometimes.
- 8:46I feel like the number one time people get angry with Rouge is
- 8:52if it's a couple and the sexy topless acts start and the wife
- 8:57is like what did you bring me to?
- 8:59As if the husband brought her there because he wanted to see.
- 9:02Boobs. Which I think is hilarious
- 9:04because if he wanted to see boobs, he'd go on the Internet.
- 9:06Oh yeah, he buys you tickets in the VIP to a show in Vegas.
- 9:11He's doing it for you. He's not doing it because he
- 9:13wants to see it. That's how I.
- 9:14Feel I feel well, I feel you guys bill yourself as the
- 9:16sexiest show in Vegas, right? Yes, and it is extremely sexy,
- 9:20but come on, like you're in Vegas.
- 9:23The advertising kind of shows what it's going to be.
- 9:26If you don't know what you're coming to see, I can understand
- 9:29that you'd be a bit shocked. But if someone's bought you
- 9:33tickets, just look it up, you know, see what you're going to
- 9:36go. Yeah, it's not common, but when
- 9:38I see people upset, that's generally what it is.
- 9:40So it's not your actual interaction.
- 9:42I don't think so. I think people get that we're
- 9:44like comedians and we're, you know, just having a good time.
- 9:48And if like it has happened once or twice where I've gone down
- 9:51there and are we trying up swear?
- 9:53No, you swear the whole time. Yeah, OK, great.
- 9:55All right, because I go down there and I'll go like, what's
- 9:58your fantasy? And this one guy was really, he
- 10:00goes fuck you. Oh, and I went back and I said,
- 10:04say that again on the microphone.
- 10:06He did. And I said, my guy wants to fuck
- 10:08me. I'm his fantasy.
- 10:09And then he starts laughing because it's so silly, you know,
- 10:11or they'll be like your mother. And then I'll just start calling
- 10:14them daddy for the rest of the show.
- 10:16You know, like I just go into it.
- 10:18I'm like, say whatever you want. You're not going to get
- 10:21offended. And then?
- 10:22Yeah, I think people as well, they try to get a reaction,
- 10:25which is really fun for us. So people come and they're like
- 10:28trying to say things that are provoking us because then it
- 10:31gives you something to work with, you know?
- 10:33Yeah, but I don't push it. If they don't want to say
- 10:35anything, they're really shy. I'll whatever.
- 10:37I'll just be like, I'm not here to bully and make some noise.
- 10:40Yeah, yeah. Next person, if they go, oh man,
- 10:43I go, oh, man, you know, Yeah. Oh shit.
- 10:45Oh, shit. Fantasy.
- 10:46You play off of it. Yeah, it doesn't matter.
- 10:48It's. Not that serious.
- 10:49Yeah, I am as open as I am. I get really shy during those
- 10:53moments. I'm always really impressed with
- 10:55the people who do answer or, you know, the ones who really go
- 10:58with it. I'm like, good for them.
- 10:59I'm impressed. Absolutely, yeah.
- 11:01And some people really go for it as well.
- 11:03Old married couples. Old married couples, yes, they
- 11:06are the ones to pick. They have no.
- 11:08What's it called like? Barrel filter they.
- 11:11Don't mind at all, they will just say what it is and that
- 11:14even sometimes they'll try and invite us to their swinger party
- 11:17and we're like thanks to the invite we're not going but.
- 11:19There is a lot of like sexual tourism in Vegas.
- 11:23Understandably, there's like a lot to offer.
- 11:25Ironically, BDSM is illegal here.
- 11:27Like you're not allowed to have a public dungeon.
- 11:30You can have as many swingers parties as you want in sex
- 11:32parties, but dungeons are not allowed.
- 11:34Wow. That explains why Excalibur
- 11:36didn't monopolize on that. The dungeon side of it.
- 11:39I mean, it's a castle, it should have had a dungeon.
- 11:42It should, especially since it's a very kinky thing.
- 11:45We have a lot of weird match ideas.
- 11:47I've been trying to get the Strat to make Strat ONS strap on
- 11:50Strat the. Strat is a perfect.
- 11:53You know phallic. They do it for the Eiffel Tower
- 11:56in Paris. And they're not receptive.
- 11:58Wow, they were actually pretty receptive about it, but they
- 12:01didn't do. It they loved the.
- 12:02Idea our boss was worried about pitching it but the owner of the
- 12:06Strat liked it when I told him but then it didn't happen.
- 12:09That's tough because it's like this is a city where you want to
- 12:11stand out or stand up, whatever way you want to think about it.
- 12:14I like that idea. And then they went ahead and
- 12:16they built Atomic Golf underneath.
- 12:19Yeah, I said they gave it balls. Oh.
- 12:21My gosh, how have I never thought of these things?
- 12:24Well, we've been together hosting adult shows since I was
- 12:27like 22. It's like what we're typecast to
- 12:29do. We've been doing it a long time.
- 12:31We did St. shows before that. And when you do St. shows, it's
- 12:34a whole different ball game. It's so much harder because
- 12:37people are not there to see you. You have to convince them you're
- 12:40worth saying. Yeah, you have to, like, build a
- 12:42crowd, you know? Yeah.
- 12:45Hey Kingsters, if you ever thought I want to play but I
- 12:47don't even know where to start, I've got you.
- 12:49My personal and completely free BDSM checklist helps you and
- 12:53your partner build a tailored yes, no, and maybe list.
- 12:57You'll figure out what sounds interesting, what actually
- 12:59lights you up, where your desires overlap, and where the
- 13:02sexy adventure begins. It's fun, it's clear, and makes
- 13:06scene planning way easier. Whether you're a Dom, sub or
- 13:09switch. Grab your checklist right now at
- 13:11amandadames.com/BDSM list or click the link in the show
- 13:17notes. So how did you 2 meet?
- 13:20We met at circus school and actually, funnily enough, so
- 13:24orientation week, the first day of meeting we moved in, the next
- 13:27day together we met and then we were living together the next
- 13:30day. In a weird like we're in between
- 13:33places, let's be with each other.
- 13:35No, no, no. We were a couple.
- 13:36We were a couple immediately. The next day.
- 13:38Yeah, How long we been together? 11 years.
- 13:41Like you were each others. Last, we've spent two days apart
- 13:44in 11 years. What?
- 13:45Were those two days for? The night before getting married
- 13:49and one of the first weeks that we met because for some reason.
- 13:53She still had her apartment as well, so she spent a night
- 13:56there, but then she was late to circus school the next day,
- 13:59which was the only time she was ever late.
- 14:01And so we were like, you should probably just stay with me.
- 14:03Because he pulls my ass out of it.
- 14:07That is the cutest story. So you're just like, once you
- 14:09guys met each other, that was it.
- 14:11Yeah, they were very clingy. I understand.
- 14:13Wait, what happens when 2 clingy people get together?
- 14:16Yeah. You're very clingy, but also
- 14:18obviously very comfortable in the work you do, like you guys
- 14:22do very provocative acts. People flirt with you both,
- 14:25presumably, right? Yeah.
- 14:28You have the mustache in real life.
- 14:29That's who you are, Poppy. You show up with a wig.
- 14:32Yeah, I look so different. You look so different.
- 14:34It's very exaggerated. I don't know what it is.
- 14:37You have an amazing. Wig.
- 14:39It's incredible. I think a drag queen in Vegas
- 14:42makes the wig. So it's like huge, huge.
- 14:45Red when she used to wear massive fake boobs as well with
- 14:48the costume but then she had to stop wearing it when she got
- 14:52pregnant because of breastfeeding and everything.
- 14:54Yes, so. Milk would just be a nice it's
- 14:57so tight. That was not part of the kinky,
- 15:00by the way. Although she was in the show
- 15:02till 40 weeks pregnant, so it kind of became part of the show.
- 15:06You guys told me that, right? You said, oh, it's on Instagram.
- 15:09So of course, as soon as you guys walked away, I got on
- 15:11Instagram. I was like, no way.
- 15:12There are acts that you do. And I cannot imagine you being
- 15:1640 weeks pregnant. So Zion flips me on his feet in
- 15:19the show, and the more pregnant I got, the more round I got and
- 15:23the better it was for like, rolling because I became like a
- 15:27human ball pretty much. So she still still did the flips
- 15:32until 35 weeks, and then she just did five weeks of comedy
- 15:35till 40 weeks. At 40 weeks, the casino said,
- 15:38all right, all right, get off the stage.
- 15:40And that was like, fair enough. They're like, it's a nice way.
- 15:43They were very nice. Well.
- 15:44I was gonna say in an American way, I'd be like, I'd be so
- 15:47nervous that you would hurt yourself on.
- 15:48Stage we had to sign a bunch of forms.
- 15:50Oh, OK. Yeah, of course.
- 15:51And I was very closely monitored by my midwives.
- 15:54And actually the brother of my boss is a gynecologist as well.
- 15:59So he was like talking to me on the phone and like helping me
- 16:02with, you know, things that could happen and whatnot.
- 16:05So I knew like, what tricks I should have in the show and
- 16:07which ones I should take out. They were maybe a bit more too
- 16:10risky, you know, that's. Always really helpful because
- 16:12even just any type of thing that you were doing.
- 16:14My sister's pregnant right now and it's just how her life had
- 16:17to change. But she doesn't even do a
- 16:18physical job like, yeah, you do. That's crazy.
- 16:21She is pregnant again right now, so it's we're going through it
- 16:24all again. Congratulations.
- 16:26Are you going to change anything this time around versus like
- 16:29when you and heart? It's interesting because
- 16:31everyone always says no pregnancy is the same even if
- 16:34you get pregnant again it can be like really different to the
- 16:37first time and I've already noticed.
- 16:38Now the first time my equilibrium, my balance went off
- 16:43straight away so we had to cut out the hand to hand acts that
- 16:47we did in the French scene. Or is this time around I feel
- 16:50fine. I have no problem with my
- 16:52balance whatsoever. If anything I feel completely
- 16:55normal. Normal in that respect.
- 16:59But then my the ABS have split earlier on because my body
- 17:04remembers being pregnant. It happens a bit quicker, so I'm
- 17:07actually finding the flips a little bit more challenging so
- 17:10he has to do more work. To like give you momentum and
- 17:14things like that. Oh my gosh, no one understands
- 17:17the show. And if you have not seen it yet,
- 17:19there is just so much work involved, physical work, that I
- 17:23can't even imagine doing it. First of all, I can't imagine
- 17:26doing it all. And then you add pregnancy on
- 17:27top. Of well, you would like this
- 17:29joke. One of our favorite jokes we
- 17:30would say is when I would get her out as a doll at the end
- 17:34when she was pregnant, obviously pregnant, we had to pull her out
- 17:36in a Dolly because she couldn't go on the box anymore.
- 17:39And I would look at the audience and I'll just yell, this one's
- 17:41used. Oh my God, that is actually
- 17:45brilliant. I want to see it again.
- 17:48Like pregnancy? Yeah, pregnancy.
- 17:50Well, October, it's popping out so.
- 17:53What's the due date? 14th.
- 17:55OK, I'm October 9th. So oh wow, you're going.
- 17:58To have a Libra, I don't believe it or not, I'm going to tell you
- 18:00Libras are great. Oh, great.
- 18:01October babies are wonderful. Wonderful.
- 18:03I've got lots of Libra friends so I believe it.
- 18:05You'll find this 3rd of June, 5th of June.
- 18:08No way. Yeah, we're both Geminis, which
- 18:10hence the clingy. But also, wait, whether or not
- 18:13you believe it or not, I will say Gemini's move really
- 18:15quickly. If I have a friend who goes to
- 18:17the bathroom and comes back really quick, I'll be like, are
- 18:18you a Gemini? And nine times out of 10, the
- 18:20answer is yes. But also, you have to go through
- 18:23such quick costume changes. I could not believe some of the
- 18:26physical stuff you do. And I'd be like, oh, they're
- 18:28going to need to sit down. But 30 seconds later, you were
- 18:30walking back on stage in a new outfit.
- 18:32It's pretty constant and we've done shows in the past that have
- 18:35been like 4 hour shows and you like sit around a lot and stuff.
- 18:39And actually, to be honest, we prefer it a little more
- 18:41fast-paced because you don't cool down, especially with the
- 18:44acrobatics. We kind of like to stay warm,
- 18:47you know, for the whole show, stay energetic because sometimes
- 18:50you cool down, you get tired. It's harder to make jokes, you
- 18:54know, It's a bit more like. It was a four hour dinner show.
- 18:57That's why it's 4 hours. It wasn't 4 hours of shows
- 18:59straight. Oh that makes sense.
- 19:01Dinner show, Dinner show, dinner show.
- 19:03Yeah, the experience was 4 hours.
- 19:05But that means that you weren't literally waiting backstage for
- 19:07like, the beginning, the middle of the end.
- 19:09Well, we sat in the audience for the beginning, so 45 minutes we
- 19:12were pretending to be audience members.
- 19:15Like Rowdy? Obnoxious tourists.
- 19:17Everyone has a part of their job that they dislike.
- 19:20Even I have the greatest job in the world and have moments where
- 19:23I'm like, oh, I'm fucking editing.
- 19:25Is that not the most boring thing in the world?
- 19:26To have to sit there and just watch the show, the same show
- 19:29over and over? We weren't just sitting there,
- 19:32we were being really obnoxious. Oh.
- 19:34Wonderful. For that one, we were kind of
- 19:36like obnoxious tourists. And then we got up on the stage,
- 19:39stage stripped off and did acrobatics.
- 19:41So we were trying to convince the audience to like, hate us.
- 19:46And then we go on stage and they're like, oh.
- 19:49Funny, it's part. Of it would have been easier if
- 19:52they didn't put a massive picture of us right at the
- 19:54entrance. Oh for crying.
- 19:57OK. I would love to see a show like
- 19:59that with you. 2IN it of just it was file people up.
- 20:03That was fun. What's your favorite act?
- 20:07It's hard to answer because we don't see the show very often
- 20:11and it changes a lot because we're in the show so much.
- 20:14So when we had asked this, we always try not to say one of our
- 20:18acts, OK, So we won't say one of our acts or one of our comedy
- 20:21pieces. OK, I'll be because that sounds
- 20:24so that feels conceited to say that for me.
- 20:26I would say taking all our stuff out, probably Yulia's water
- 20:30bottle act, the handstand act. It's like a big martini glass.
- 20:34And she does. Oh yeah, handstands.
- 20:36OK, yes, I have to tell you, the fact that you went with that,
- 20:40did you call it the handstand act?
- 20:41Yeah, OK. That is the least obvious part
- 20:44about that whole show. A woman is in a martini glass
- 20:48being sexy as fuck and you're like, she does handstand.
- 20:51She's she's one of her and her husband are some of the best
- 20:54hand balancers in the world. So we've known of them from
- 20:57Instagram long time before we came here.
- 20:59Got it. So OK, that's totally fair.
- 21:01That is a really cool act. Though, and another great act in
- 21:04the show. I mean, they're all great,
- 21:06really. All of the artists are
- 21:08phenomenal, but I really like the Rome act as well.
- 21:11It was three guys doing acrobatics together and then
- 21:16there's two guys doing acrobatics together.
- 21:17Now we have a hand balancer who does really long canes, but that
- 21:23act is always a highlight of the show.
- 21:25Yeah, definitely. I haven't actually seen the new
- 21:28guy who doesn't solo, so I didn't think of that one because
- 21:31he's really new and we've been in the show the whole time.
- 21:34But he seems amazing. When I saw were there two people
- 21:36doing that? There would have been, yeah.
- 21:38The bald guys, Yeah, yeah. Those guys are amazing.
- 21:42They're Ukrainian brothers. All of that makes sense, right?
- 21:45I made this joke in the Instagram video I did about it.
- 21:47I was like, if you don't have fantasies, you will have a
- 21:50fantasy leafing this show. And those brothers were.
- 21:54Yeah, they're awesome. They're great guys.
- 21:55So good. I want to shout out two things.
- 21:58My boyfriend really liked this one as well.
- 22:00The horses. The way you transition from one
- 22:02thing into another is really beautiful.
- 22:05But that horse act, there's just something about it that is
- 22:08majestic. I don't.
- 22:09Know what? It's definitely the most unique
- 22:11of the dancers. Unique.
- 22:12So that's what we tell people when someone else what our
- 22:14favorite dance number is, we always say horses.
- 22:17Yeah, I mean. Because it stands out, it's so
- 22:20different to everything else. Yeah, and then I think one that
- 22:23played into my fantasy was the men in suits around the.
- 22:26Strip. Yep, City.
- 22:28Pole. Yes, I would say that in my
- 22:30opinion, the pole with the men in suits and the water bowl with
- 22:34the hat and the lighting are technically from like a lighting
- 22:39and design point of view. They're the best designed acts.
- 22:42It's beautiful. It's yeah, it's beautiful.
- 22:44Okay, but then there is an act that I am still amazed at.
- 22:49We talked about a little bit beforehand.
- 22:50You in a balloon. Yeah, so I've done the balloon
- 22:55act for quite a long time pre this show, and we always wanted
- 22:58to do it as like a condom gag. So this was just the perfect
- 23:02time to do it. Originally, I wanted to be
- 23:04stuffed in the locker like a nerd.
- 23:06Yes, yeah, but you didn't fit I, I.
- 23:09I could get it, but they were like, it doesn't read because
- 23:12you don't look like a nerd when you come out.
- 23:16Or I said I could have been the like, gym teacher with a
- 23:18whistle. Oh yeah.
- 23:20Because she was originally the ballet teacher later in the
- 23:22show, but she stopped doing it because we didn't have time for
- 23:24the changes. Yeah, yeah, it was too much.
- 23:26Quit changing. Yeah.
- 23:28Also people would laugh the second they saw her and it's not
- 23:31supposed to be a comedy role. It would sort of take away from
- 23:34the ballerina because people would be like, oh, what's this
- 23:36comedy act, you know? What's she gonna do?
- 23:39What's she gonna do? Yeah, and then it was a serious
- 23:41act, so it just didn't. We weren't ready for you to be
- 23:43serious. No.
- 23:44No, no. OK, and I have to say, the
- 23:47condom thing in general is overdone.
- 23:50So when you started doing the condom thing, I was like, come
- 23:53on, Rouge. Yeah.
- 23:53But then you delivered. You landed it.
- 23:55You were like, I could not believe what you did.
- 23:58So I just want to explain. I don't want to ruin it, but I
- 24:00have to. Like you literally get in a
- 24:02balloon. Get in a giant balloon and jump
- 24:04around and then get. Yeah.
- 24:07Naked, naked. Well, it's naked is you're
- 24:09legally allowed. It's as we had to get a lawyer
- 24:11come and watch the show when we opened it and they added an
- 24:14extra strap on that. Are you not allowed be naked in
- 24:16Vegas? Not allowed to be pantless, so
- 24:19you're allowed to be topless. You're not allowed to show
- 24:22genitals. You need a special license for
- 24:24topless and you need another special license for actual fully
- 24:27nude. I have the one for the topless
- 24:29but they don't. It's a whole thing.
- 24:30Even a lot of strip shows like strip.
- 24:32Clubs they don't don't. Go bottomless.
- 24:34Yeah, it's a legal thing. Technically what I end the
- 24:38Icarian acting at the end of the show is illegal.
- 24:41But I made sure the lawyer was sitting on the other side and I
- 24:44faced that way because I'm only in a dance, support say.
- 24:48That on here. You probably shouldn't say it on
- 24:53here. No no I know it's only it's from
- 24:551 angle like. Yeah, Yeah, that, well, that's
- 24:57it. I made sure it was angled so
- 24:59it's. Yeah, you don't put anyone in
- 25:00the seat that where would. Ass seat, yeah.
- 25:02The ass seat, if they go into the ass seat, you know, sit more
- 25:06towards the left. Remember, that's an angle.
- 25:09I'll call them up and be like, I would like to be in this
- 25:11specific seat. Oh, my boyfriend's gonna kill
- 25:13it. You're saying that.
- 25:14OK, so that's the act that sticks with me.
- 25:16And I'm sure it sticks with a lot of people because the energy
- 25:19that goes into it, it is the most shocking thing.
- 25:21You come out, you go and close and you come out of this balloon
- 25:23naked and it's almost like a magic act.
- 25:25It really is because I'm like, how the fuck did he get?
- 25:27Well, we do the magic trick at the end of the show as well,
- 25:31which is just one, but I actually tell all my friends
- 25:34that we're the headlining magicians of the Strat.
- 25:36As for the only ones there, and we're friends like Shin Lim and
- 25:39all this. So whenever I'm around them, I
- 25:41always get. I say, hey, I'm the headlining
- 25:42magician of the Strat. Shinlam is a really famous Vegas
- 25:46like. Yeah.
- 25:48It's like a really good dig, actually.
- 25:50Like, well, wait, where is Shinland?
- 25:52Venetian. Venetian now, yeah.
- 25:55Amazing show, he's a good friends with us.
- 25:57I mean, it's wife. You are friends with a lot of
- 25:59different performers. I've reeled all of this from
- 26:02your Instagram. How do you all?
- 26:03Know it's a small community, really, like there's a lot of
- 26:07artists here and what we do, we're as close to headlining as
- 26:11you can be without being a headliner because we host a show
- 26:15and we do all this, but our name, it's not Zion and Poppy.
- 26:17Rouge, OK. So we end up in those circles as
- 26:21well. Yeah, that makes.
- 26:23A ton of sense because most of them know each other and you
- 26:25know, you want to talk about your experience performing on a
- 26:28Vegas show all the time. You hang out with people who
- 26:31also do that. Yeah.
- 26:32You go to a party and so many performers here, you know, it's
- 26:35a great community of people, so it's just inevitable you're
- 26:38going to meet. We've been here four years now,
- 26:41yeah. And actually we meet quite a few
- 26:43through kids. You're like, hey, this person
- 26:45has a kid about the same age as your kids.
- 26:47So you end up. I mean a.
- 26:48Playdate together, you know. It makes sense.
- 26:50What's hard to believe believe about it is that your job is so
- 26:53physical. I'm like, there's many people
- 26:54doing this because when you told me that you had a toddler at
- 26:57home, I was like, how did you like keep doing this show?
- 26:59For the first year, he was in our dressing room with the
- 27:02babysitter backstage. We're the only people in Vegas
- 27:05that we know of that got permission to have our kid
- 27:07backstage in the theater. Because I was still
- 27:09breastfeeding and he was feeding every two hours, I would have to
- 27:12feed him through the show, which was quite cool.
- 27:15I've got some great pictures of me and my full costume like
- 27:18breastfeeding backstage. Great memories.
- 27:21We called a nursing naughty Well.
- 27:24You need to see the show to fully understand the entire get
- 27:27up of it. Is it easy to work together?
- 27:29Yes. I mean, well, you're tied at the
- 27:32hip and have been for 11 years, but no arguments or anything
- 27:35about the show. Definitely.
- 27:36I think we've quite good at communicating with each other.
- 27:39Most of our arguments that we have are usually acrobatic
- 27:42related and it's usually for like safety or if a trick goes
- 27:46wrong we'll have a little fight about.
- 27:49It the good thing is we don't swear at each other.
- 27:52I want to clarify, we swear a lot as people, but we just have
- 27:55a no swearing at the other person rule.
- 27:58And if you do, you have to apologize straight away.
- 28:00That helps so much. It's very hard to keep being
- 28:03angry when you have to stop and be like, sorry for swearing, but
- 28:07it really kills the momentum of your argument.
- 28:10Oh I just get spanked if I swear the person had my partner.
- 28:15But yeah, just. Got a win win but.
- 28:16Yeah, yeah. That's a reward though.
- 28:18That's the problem. I still feel bad.
- 28:20Yeah, there's like guilt. No, that's something to break
- 28:22the tension though. Yeah, but with us, most of the
- 28:25time when we fight, as she said, it's going to be like, you are
- 28:28holding my foot at the slightly wrong angle and your elbow was
- 28:31unlocked, which at the time feels really serious.
- 28:35But 5 minutes later when you say it out loud, you're like, wow,
- 28:38that's a ridiculous thing to be this angry about.
- 28:40It's fun. But I also get it, it's probably
- 28:43also if you 2 weren't so close, would you still argue about?
- 28:46As in, do other performers argue like this?
- 28:49I think it's quite common for like couples and acrobatic duos
- 28:53because it's quite important as well.
- 28:55If something's going wrong, you need to talk about it with each
- 28:58other. And when adrenaline's high,
- 29:01stress is high, it's going to come out as a fight.
- 29:03It's just inevitable. I think though, that the big
- 29:07problem is when people don't talk about it, because if you
- 29:10address it straight away, it might be like, oh, you slightly
- 29:13raised your voice when you said that.
- 29:15And it's like, we count that as a fight.
- 29:17But most people are like, what? That's not.
- 29:19But if you don't talk about it, I know some people will just
- 29:21say, no, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine.
- 29:23And then they're complaining about their partner to everyone
- 29:25else. Worst possible situation.
- 29:27We don't complain about each other when we're not there.
- 29:31Yeah, if. We're here and she says
- 29:33something at my expense as a joke.
- 29:35Now great, that's funny. But if I'm not here and we're
- 29:38around it, we don't really do that.
- 29:39You're. Not the butt of each other's
- 29:41jokes. Yeah, that makes a ton of sense.
- 29:42That's a healthy relationship. We try to keep it like that and
- 29:45we actually teach a lot of acrobatics to couples and a lot
- 29:48of the time it becomes a little bit like relationship
- 29:51counselling because it's so important, the communication,
- 29:54not just physical but verbal as well when you're working that
- 29:58closely. Yeah, it's kind of crazy.
- 30:00I think that might be part of why we do fit into like kink
- 30:03communities and stuff so well without actually doing it.
- 30:06Because when you do partner acrobatics, all those things
- 30:10about like consent, good communication, relationship, all
- 30:14that is the same. Yeah, I can't deny it.
- 30:17I try and stop kingsters from being like we're just better
- 30:20communicators. But the truth is 2 acrobats I
- 30:22think are also going to be better communicators.
- 30:25There are certain things you do that mean you have to
- 30:27communicate. But it's that you're better at
- 30:29communicating for the specific things you've practiced with,
- 30:32yes. It doesn't mean that we're
- 30:33better. I mean, we play a lot of board
- 30:35games together. We're really big board game
- 30:37nuts, OK, huge board game. Nuts.
- 30:39I feel like just circle back to the fact that you are monogamous
- 30:43because little things. You're saying these are tropes
- 30:45for different types of lifestyle communities?
- 30:48Really. Yeah, polyamorous people, all
- 30:49they do is sit around and play board games.
- 30:51So we're like, we love board games.
- 30:53So like. Yeah, it gets us into trouble
- 30:55because we invite and most of our friends are like super
- 30:58attractive acrobats from all the different shows and we're like
- 31:00come on over for board games. And then sometimes they think
- 31:04we're swingers and think it's not that.
- 31:06And we're like so often they'll arrive and we'll have the seven
- 31:09hour Talisman set up and they'll look, so look at them and
- 31:12they're not here for the broadcast.
- 31:13I literally love that because I also know it's true.
- 31:17Literally I felt so compelled during the podcast to be like
- 31:20relax everyone, they're not. Actually.
- 31:22You need on the invite to put in parentheses like.
- 31:25This is really just board game. Actually.
- 31:26Yeah, yes. Helped a lot having kids.
- 31:29OK, Yeah. Yeah, people don't assume that
- 31:31when you invite them over for a play date, which is good.
- 31:33Well, yeah. Well, if you were at it like
- 31:35that, they would. How many nights?
- 31:37The shows? Five nights a week. 66 You were
- 31:40working six nights a week with a child.
- 31:42We did before we had our child, couldn't do it now.
- 31:45We did four months, no day off. Whoa, how many was it?
- 31:50192 shows and four months with no day off.
- 31:53What necessitated that amount of shows?
- 31:56Gosh. OK, no.
- 31:58They offered us like a bonus for doing it more because the rest
- 32:01of the cast rotated days off. Yeah, but they have no backup
- 32:04for us and they were going to do it every summer.
- 32:06But we're kind of happy that that didn't happen.
- 32:08Oh, because there's been a decline in tourism, like at the
- 32:12moment, yes. I mean, it's international news
- 32:15what Vegas is going through. Yeah, and we feel very lucky
- 32:19with Rouge because actually including Rouge 6 shows at the
- 32:22Strat Theatre in the last four years, we're the only one that
- 32:25lasted. Honestly Rouge is the only
- 32:28reason I've been to the Strat twice in the three years of
- 32:30living here. Yeah, it goes well.
- 32:32Like even when we're like, oh, it's a decline in tourism, it's
- 32:35good. We got a lot of people and a lot
- 32:37of enthusiastic, fun audiences. The energy is usually really
- 32:40good. I mean, A1 show night is always
- 32:43an awesome, great time. 2 show nights, first one's always
- 32:46really full and good, second one is usually good.
- 32:49But I feel like Vegas isn't a late night city anymore, and if
- 32:53it is, it's because people are going to specific clubs or
- 32:56parties. They're not.
- 32:59All of our friends are saying this, even Cirque du Soleil.
- 33:01A lot of them are moving the shows earlier and we're finding
- 33:04the same thing. Even even at Rouge, because we
- 33:06used to be 8301030 and now they've moved them to 8 to 10
- 33:10and we even used to do 9 and 11 and the 11:00 PM shows were
- 33:15like, they still sold. Like we still had enough people
- 33:19to do a show, but people just don't want to go out that late.
- 33:23I think that's a post COVID thing.
- 33:25Dinner reservations now 5:00 and 5:30 is like the hot dinner
- 33:29reservation and that lines up for your show.
- 33:31It was like 530. Dinner, 8:00 PM.
- 33:33Yes, and we find and, and also I felt like it was a bit of a
- 33:37thing of when people come to Vegas, they're like, I want to
- 33:39make the most of my trip. I'm here for three days.
- 33:41I get up at six. AMI walked the strip.
- 33:43I did this. And then it gets to 10:30 when
- 33:46they get to see our show and I've come out and there's been
- 33:49people asleep before we started and I wake him up.
- 33:54I had a guy in the head with the balloon who was asleep once.
- 33:57All people are passed out as well.
- 33:58They'll be so drunk. We've had people that are passed
- 34:02out before the show's even started.
- 34:04I can't get over this because if you haven't seen the show yet,
- 34:07you do not understand how from the moment you walk in and sit
- 34:09down it's a highly eroticized, like erotically charged venue.
- 34:15There are beautiful people walking around.
- 34:17There are little vignette scenes type of things happening and
- 34:20they are sexy. They are already kinky.
- 34:23I'm like how is someone showing up in this environment and even
- 34:26falling asleep? I think it's just the city that
- 34:29it is, to be honest. People are.
- 34:30Just. Doing so much they they're.
- 34:32Out and who know maybe jet lagged as well.
- 34:35That happened to us actually I hate to admit it.
- 34:37When we moved to Germany we arrived, got off the plane and
- 34:41they were like are you going to go watch this 4 hour in a show
- 34:44straight away. Amazing show, one of the best
- 34:46shows I've ever seen. We fell asleep for about 20
- 34:49minutes at the end. Oh no, I mean.
- 34:51So we we had, we came back and we saw the show again because we
- 34:55wanted to see the last act, but. But in our defense, that was a
- 34:58four hour dinner show. So it was after we had had the
- 35:02like dessert and we were like Oh my God.
- 35:05OK, that's fair, but that's what espresso martinis are for.
- 35:07Maybe you don't drink. We actually don't drink.
- 35:11Well then you don't know this, but also outside of the show
- 35:13where the bar is, they have this very good Grey Goose espresso
- 35:16Martini like on tap, so. Yeah, sure.
- 35:19The bar stuff are awesome. Yeah, they're really great guys.
- 35:22They. Are really awesome.
- 35:23Yeah, that is not the reason I enjoyed the show so much.
- 35:26Like I had a really good drink before walking in.
- 35:28Good. Yeah.
- 35:29OK. Do you have any memorable shows
- 35:31that you guys have done with Rouge that stand out for either
- 35:34good or bad reasons? The goat.
- 35:36What the fuck? Yeah, yeah, there's a lot.
- 35:39Some of them, I wouldn't say. Some of the things people said
- 35:42are borderline illegal and that's very memorable, but.
- 35:45Straight up illegal. Yeah, straight up illegal.
- 35:46But also for us, there was one day I went down there and I
- 35:51said, so what's your fantasy? And he said goat.
- 35:55And I said, do you mean like the like the animal or greatest of
- 35:59all time would not say another word.
- 36:01He just stared at me. And someone else in the audience
- 36:04started making a goat noise. I saw me.
- 36:07And then I pointed at the guy next to him who had a goatee.
- 36:09And I said, oh, he's got a goatee, maybe you can just fuck
- 36:11him. I said maybe.
- 36:13And they laughed and it was good.
- 36:15Like I was like, maybe maybe this will suffice because I'm
- 36:18not getting you a real goat. Like what are you talking about?
- 36:21That's bestiality. Obviously I was more like funny
- 36:24with it than that I was and so direct.
- 36:26But it was, I was like, what's going on anyway?
- 36:28People making goat noises. And I moved on, didn't think
- 36:31about it again. End of the show, Poppy bends me
- 36:35over, I turn and I'm silent. I do a slow microphone in.
- 36:41I'm looking around at the audience and someone in the
- 36:44audience yells fuck him like a goat and the whole audience, no
- 36:50no, no one laughed. How?
- 36:52And then the whole audience started making loud goat noises
- 36:57and it's like 500 people. It was awesome.
- 37:00I was like, did you guys plan this while I was backstage or
- 37:03something? I was like just looking around
- 37:05like what is happening right now?
- 37:07I love. This I love when a group of
- 37:09people come together for a greater good.
- 37:13That was, that was pretty amazing.
- 37:14I think there's a lot of callbacks to the show, so it's
- 37:17cool when like stuff like that happens and the audience is just
- 37:20on board, you know, with the joke.
- 37:22A lot of the time if someone something funny, I'll do a
- 37:24callback. I'm bent over and I'll be like,
- 37:26I'll make a great noise or I'll do whatever.
- 37:28But for them to do it, I was like, whoa, that was cool.
- 37:31That is really, I mean, because then, you know, you're doing
- 37:33something, you know, like as a show, you're bringing people
- 37:35together to like, enjoy this fun moment.
- 37:38I did this is probably less crazy, but I always like to
- 37:41bring out and do like an improv joke that I put quite a lot more
- 37:44effort into just before the red bed.
- 37:48And I always go a little overboard and I've done a bunch
- 37:50of things, but the most overboard I did is someone said
- 37:53they had a refrigerator fantasy. I was didn't really understand.
- 37:57I was like, wouldn't I don't understand, Are you frigid?
- 38:00Like what's going on? One is called shrinkage.
- 38:02It's a, you know, I don't know about that, but so I went
- 38:04backstage and Poppy said, what do you do with that?
- 38:06And I said, well, we've got a fridge.
- 38:08I said we got it's a mini fridge.
- 38:10It's just be it's a freezer technically.
- 38:12And Poppy's like you don't have time.
- 38:13It's a quick change. We need to ask.
- 38:14So I unplug the fridge, emptied it out of it, was full of
- 38:17breast, emptied it out of breast milk and I got it and I strapped
- 38:21it to myself and I was carrying it and I was like, oh, this is
- 38:24kind of funny, but I need something else.
- 38:26So I got a dildo and I stuck it inside the fridge.
- 38:29So then I came back out on stage and when the light came on me,
- 38:32I'm holding the fridge and everyone's looking at me and I
- 38:34was like, I got to be honest, I don't recommend the fridge thing
- 38:39and I've swung the door open and the dildo was in there.
- 38:43So it looks like. He did.
- 38:44They go nuts. They did.
- 38:47You got to commit to the bit. And that that part of the show,
- 38:49Zion will be running around trying to find props backstage.
- 38:52Like whatever the audience says. He's like, all right, I'm going
- 38:55to make like a visual joke out of it.
- 38:57So he has a great time finding different props and things to
- 39:01do. I quite liked it when there was
- 39:03a couple on their honeymoon and they said they wanted to do
- 39:05something and they never did before and they couldn't think
- 39:07of what that was. They like would suggest
- 39:09something and they said we got 12 kids, we done everything.
- 39:12So then when I came back out later, I said, well, clearly the
- 39:15one thing you've never done is worn a condom.
- 39:17So condom. But there's a lot of jokes like
- 39:21that that have been really fun and the Chinese audience that
- 39:24time. Yeah, so cowboy Christmas is a
- 39:27thing that happens before Christmas time where the rodeo
- 39:31finals are in town. So we have just like a sea of
- 39:34cowboy hats. They're really rowdy, great
- 39:36audience because they give us a lot to work with.
- 39:38When Christmas is over, we have Chinese tourists.
- 39:42It's a complete change. They're quite quiet.
- 39:45The comedy's a bit harder because they're not
- 39:47understanding so much. We have a friend who's Chinese,
- 39:50and Zion got him to tell us how to write in Chinese.
- 39:56What is your fantasy? So Zion will go down and ask
- 39:59them what their fantasy is, and if they say no English, he'll
- 40:03pull out the Chinese. And it works so well because
- 40:07then they can just say it in Chinese and the whole audience
- 40:10knows what they're saying. God.
- 40:12I keep it in the pants ready to go, but that.
- 40:15Is actually genius though. I got that idea because one time
- 40:19there was some people right here and I'm doing the French bit and
- 40:22I'm saying that there's a lions tap that ass.
- 40:24They were just looking at me blankly.
- 40:25They're laughing at the movement.
- 40:27And this one woman here just starts yelling.
- 40:28You have to say it in Mandarin. You have to say it in Mandarin.
- 40:32So I went backstage and I googled, translated it and
- 40:34Mandarin and I spent the whole show saying it over and over and
- 40:38over again to try and get the tone right.
- 40:40So then later on I came out and when the light came on me, I
- 40:43just went and said it. Mandarin, they were screaming.
- 40:47They were throwing money at me, I said.
- 40:52For learning Mandarin, for learning.
- 40:53I was like this. Whoa.
- 40:55It's a powerful move, yeah. I don't think I could put into
- 40:58words what I enjoyed about the show so much.
- 41:00But like your description of how you literally put yourself into
- 41:03it, It's not just scripted and you feel it's not scripted.
- 41:05To this day I do not understand how you made such a kinky show
- 41:08while being so vanilla. Well, I think it's just that we
- 41:12like to listen to people. We really like to meet new
- 41:14people and hear what they're into.
- 41:16So we have like a lot of random knowledge about these things and
- 41:21I think it helps. OK, this, I want to add this
- 41:24right? Because we aren't trying to
- 41:26sleep with anyone in the audience, and we aren't trying
- 41:30to do anything without any of that, which means that we don't
- 41:34come across as creepy. Yeah, that's true.
- 41:36Which is a big thing that I've seen with other hosts.
- 41:39So amazing hosts, much better than me.
- 41:41But I've seen some hosts and you can tell that they're getting a
- 41:44little too excited about being in a sexy show surrounded by
- 41:48sexy people. A lot of the time the hosts are
- 41:50much older and you know what I mean?
- 41:52And it's fine, but I'm going to word it right.
- 41:54I just feel like it helps that we're a happily married couple
- 41:57and we're not trying to. I'm not trying to use it to get
- 42:00anything. No.
- 42:01Our main objective is to make a joke is to make people laugh,
- 42:05you know, so you can tell us the craziest thing ever.
- 42:08And instantly we're like, how can we make you laugh?
- 42:11How can we like, make this funny, you know?
- 42:14And I'm hearing it and I'm not thinking, Oh, well, I don't want
- 42:17anyone to think that about me because I, I mean, I'm married
- 42:20with kids. I'm, I don't, they can think
- 42:23whatever they want about me. I don't mind if they think that
- 42:25I'm a crazy partying swinger. Cool, that's fine.
- 42:31That we do leave thinking. A lot of people do.
- 42:35Because you're so comfortable at just making the jokes and
- 42:39weaving in and out of it. And I think that that's an
- 42:41impressive skill of just being. I mean, I guess did you guys
- 42:44take improv? We both did acting and drama and
- 42:47stuff at like school and everything, but I think when we
- 42:50first started working together we really wanted to be like
- 42:53serious acrobats, romantic, serious.
- 42:56That's what we wanted to do. People kept hiring us for comedy
- 43:00because I feel like we're both naturally enjoy comedy and enjoy
- 43:04that, and we stopped fighting it after a while and we're like,
- 43:07OK, we need to lean into the comedy a bit more because that's
- 43:10what people love from us and we love it as well.
- 43:14When you say romantic Acrobat, what does that even mean?
- 43:17It means like the classic, two people doing acrobatics together
- 43:21and it's a lovely song and it's very.
- 43:24Yeah. Yeah, Yeah.
- 43:26There's a lot of them out there. That's that's kind of what we
- 43:29were, you know, aiming for. And I think that we've put more
- 43:32of our personality into our performance.
- 43:34I think that is also another shocking part of it is like you
- 43:37were not just hosting it, you were doing all of the acrobatics
- 43:41and that sets the show apart. Because we went to circus school
- 43:44together for five years or four years, four years.
- 43:46I went five years. She was there four years.
- 43:49Is it like university? Yeah, we have bachelor degrees.
- 43:52In. Circumstance.
- 43:53Okay, is that an Australian thing or does America offer that
- 43:56too? Ah, Canada does.
- 43:58I don't think there's a like certified course in America, but
- 44:01there's I think there's two places in Canada that do that do
- 44:05the certified. Yeah, I'm not sure about here
- 44:07with the own. The one in Melbourne we went to
- 44:10is the only one in the Southern hemisphere.
- 44:12I know that. I used to be single in Vegas on
- 44:14the app swiping. There are a ton of acrobats in
- 44:18Vegas and they are mostly kinky, right?
- 44:20So like, do you have a ton of Acrobat friends who are like,
- 44:22oh, you should put this in the show.
- 44:23You should put that in the show. Absolutely.
- 44:25And they come to the show and they'll yell things out as well.
- 44:28Yeah, absolutely. We're friends with a lot of
- 44:30acrobats and a lot of some of our best friends that do flank
- 44:33trapeze and Mistaire. So we go, they have flank
- 44:35trapeze in their house and everything.
- 44:38A lot of them come to our show and they just love that.
- 44:40With our show, it's so open and solo.
- 44:44They'll come and that yell crazy stuff out just to see what I'm
- 44:48going to do with it. I love that I would want to go
- 44:50see a show that all of your friends were showing up too for
- 44:52that specific reason too. It's fun.
- 44:54It's fun. OK, you guys do a really good
- 44:57job of managing a pretty clean show.
- 45:00You said some people say illegal things in your improv sections,
- 45:04which like I could see how that could happen as a disappointing
- 45:07as it is. Any other naughty secrets that
- 45:09happen? Well, it does happen more often
- 45:12than you would think. Some people get a little too
- 45:15excited and they start doing things with each other and we do
- 45:20have to get security to kick them out.
- 45:23We have people like fingering each other, taking their tops
- 45:26off, bouncing around like. I have questions that I deliver
- 45:30if I want to have okay. I I don't understand in what
- 45:34world women taking their tops off.
- 45:35Yes. So there was a woman in the
- 45:37front row, fully tits out, legs spread, sitting on the guy's lap
- 45:43while he was going to town on her front row in the spotlight.
- 45:46In the spotlight so everyone could see her in the entire SO.
- 45:49Do you handle that or does? Someone No, no, no, no, no.
- 45:52Usher's in security. And with that, they get the
- 45:54security guys. I meant like, do you interact
- 45:57with that at all or you just like, pretend this isn't
- 45:59happening? We were doing our hand to hand
- 46:01act at the time, so I was busy. Yeah, we were busy.
- 46:05We try not to like, put an emphasis on it, but like at the
- 46:08end of the show when Zion's thanking everyone, sometimes
- 46:11he'll be like, and thank you to this guy that got kicked out
- 46:14for, you know. Yeah, yeah, that happened.
- 46:17Someone got kicked out near the front a few weeks ago and they
- 46:20were like really going to town on themselves though.
- 46:23They were. They were getting off and they
- 46:25kicked them out. So at the end of the show I was
- 46:26like, thank you for doggy style. Thank you for this, and thank
- 46:30you to the guy we got kicked out for masturbating.
- 46:32Oh my. God, it's I I honestly don't
- 46:35understand what's wrong with people like consent, consent,
- 46:38consent. I I think that this one though,
- 46:41I think some of them, it's that they like the idea of us seeing
- 46:45them. Yeah.
- 46:47And then some of them, they're trying to do it sneakily up the
- 46:50back and they're trying to be like in public, sneaky.
- 46:55But we have. That one I understand.
- 46:56There's cameras in the theatre. Saying it's OK, I just.
- 46:59Mean, but also from the stage, yes, OK, you think people can't
- 47:04see under your tables, but from the stage perspective, we can
- 47:08see everything because we can see your legs.
- 47:11We could see everything that's going on to there.
- 47:13So it's quite shocking on stage. You'll be like wow.
- 47:16I am so consent forward though, that the idea that people would
- 47:20be doing this in public is. Yeah, but people have done
- 47:22worse. People do crazy stuff with shows
- 47:25here. There was someone took a shit in
- 47:28the side stage I. Forgot about that, Oh my God.
- 47:32You know I hate poop. The one day there was an awful,
- 47:34I think it was actually not from our shows, from the show before.
- 47:37OK, someone had just did. A kid friendly show, mind you.
- 47:41They, I think they were really drunk, really drunk.
- 47:45And they just, yeah, just side stage.
- 47:47Oh my God, that's absolutely. Disgusting.
- 47:49Insane. Yeah.
- 47:50Because you guys don't even have poop jokes.
- 47:52People do call out like Cleveland Steamer or like Rusty
- 47:57Trombone or and then we go there.
- 47:59If they're yelling it out then he'll make lots of poop jokes.
- 48:02Yeah, but they're more like, that's a shit answer or like,
- 48:05I'm glad you got that shit off your chest, you know what I
- 48:08mean? Like I'm not, I'm not.
- 48:10You don't go gross with it, Yeah.
- 48:12Yeah, OK, so people are getting kicked out for doing
- 48:15inappropriate things, like beyond inappropriate.
- 48:17Yeah, not all the time. It's not like all the time, but
- 48:20it's often enough that it's when they tell you someone got kicked
- 48:23out for it. You're like, oh.
- 48:24OK, Is it often enough? So like you tell people turn off
- 48:27your phones? Like I guess it would only
- 48:30probably encourage people more if you're like, don't fondle
- 48:32each other. It would be funny to add that
- 48:34in. Yeah, we had to add in a longer
- 48:37turn off your phones, but because people just the pre
- 48:39recorded voice at the start, no one listens to it.
- 48:41So we do a bit now in our very first monologue, we do a little
- 48:45bit of housekeeping. And then I also say it in
- 48:47Spanish as well with a little bit of jokes in there as well
- 48:51just to try and stop the photos. Because if you take photos
- 48:56during the show, you'll get your phone taken, pictures deleted,
- 49:00all of that. Yeah.
- 49:02OK, that was my favorite thing though.
- 49:04You're not allowed film. I wasn't allowed films.
- 49:06I got to just enjoy the show and I do not have to worry about
- 49:09getting any footage at all. I was like, oh, I'm just.
- 49:12That is another thing we struggle with is that a lot of
- 49:14people do still try and film and the ushers have to go and like
- 49:18delete the footage and whatever because the dancers are topless.
- 49:21Well, and a lot of the acts, oh, I didn't.
- 49:23And then some people get really defensive about it and we've had
- 49:27to kick them out and it's like, Oh yeah, it's like just delete
- 49:30it. That's the rule.
- 49:31Also new problem meta glasses or like any AI glasses?
- 49:37Oh my God, there's always a new problem.
- 49:39Yeah, so now they're really on to that, all the ushers and
- 49:42everything with the glasses as well.
- 49:44Because we've had a few people sitting there and they're just
- 49:46blatantly recording, yeah, front row.
- 49:49And it's like, how do you prove it?
- 49:52That is terrible though. I'm sorry you guys have to deal
- 49:54with that and especially the performers.
- 49:56They get really upset. We've had some performers
- 49:59before. The ushers are, I would say the
- 50:01ushers are quite on to it now. Before they were as on to it.
- 50:04Some performers would walk off stage which I think is fair
- 50:07enough. So they are quite on to it now,
- 50:09which is really good. But I wanted the tagline to be
- 50:11the breast show in Vegas. Why did they let you?
- 50:14Take they said it was too punny. I mean, it is so funny.
- 50:19I mean, we love our puns. We.
- 50:20I mean, it's really good, Yeah. I mean, the sexiest show in
- 50:23Vegas is just too on the nose. I say the breast show in Vegas,
- 50:27hosted by the biggest tit of them all.
- 50:29Oh. I like that.
- 50:30That's why I was saying. That's a solid one for me, yeah.
- 50:33Yeah, just deep inside, you know.
- 50:34Yeah, so I grew up in Ireland and like we do call people tits,
- 50:38but like, not. Here, not here, no, no.
- 50:40We both grew up on English comedy and and Australian comedy
- 50:45of course, but very much like. Same.
- 50:47Ireland was very much the same. So like the words are the same
- 50:50and things like that. When I go to these shows, one of
- 50:53the things I always wonder, where are these people who also
- 50:57used to be? Are our current dancers at some
- 50:59of maybe the famous strip clubs? Because they're good at poles,
- 51:01they're good at acrobatics. Is there an overlap?
- 51:04So. So I would have said I would
- 51:06have said no before usually. Definitely not really.
- 51:10But recently one of the dancers that is in our show and his
- 51:14husband, they opened up a show at the Hustler.
- 51:18Electric Fantasy Club What's? Called.
- 51:20Oh yeah, and a lot of our dancers dance there now and they
- 51:24do the like stripping and getting the tips and all of that
- 51:28as well. So before, no, but that's just
- 51:30like a recent thing that's just happened.
- 51:32And a lot of them are like, great, they can do our show and
- 51:34then after our show, go work at the strip club.
- 51:37But. It's also different because now
- 51:39we have a lot more Americans, whereas before everyone was on
- 51:42the O2 visa and couldn't do it. Other stuff visas get into that
- 51:46a lot. Have you guys experienced that
- 51:47like this shift in what's happening with visas is?
- 51:51That a delay with everyone's visa and 22 people in our
- 51:55company couldn't work for two weeks at the start of the year,
- 51:57including. US because we're on O2 visas.
- 52:01So what? And that's the one where it's
- 52:02like you have a special artistic talent.
- 52:04Yeah. So only work for someone who.
- 52:07Is that they have the. Only.
- 52:09Work. And then we have the O2 so we
- 52:11can only work for the. O1 is known as a celebrity visa.
- 52:15It's sad though, that you guys have to do that.
- 52:16So what happened with the show? You guys couldn't perform for
- 52:19two weeks. They just got other people and
- 52:22whoever they could find. Wait, they replaced you for two
- 52:25weeks? But they cut the shows down.
- 52:27It was only 13 shows. OK, that makes sense.
- 52:29I think so much of what you have put together, the energy you
- 52:32bring to it, and the fact that you are working with the
- 52:35audience and listening to them and you don't have a script for
- 52:37that part of the show makes it. I mean, that's what kink is all
- 52:41about. You're sort of feeding off the
- 52:42energy of each other and it's so much about the energy.
- 52:45One of the through lines of the show is like, you pick one
- 52:47special audience member who gets your attention.
- 52:50Do you choose that person in advance or it's just whoever
- 52:52sitting like who looks interesting in the front row?
- 52:55Is a few factors. It's like if I can see some fun
- 52:58I I pick them at the time. Maybe I'll pick them on my
- 53:02walking around beforehand, but it's more based on like what
- 53:06they're wearing, where they're sitting, if they look fun.
- 53:08I don't want the funnest looking person because we need them for
- 53:11drugs later. I want the best is like a guy
- 53:14who's obviously there with his wife and she's more excited than
- 53:18he is. Oh my gosh.
- 53:20All right. And then what do you do with
- 53:21this lucky audience member? We're.
- 53:23Just trying to get them laid. We're just trying to get him to
- 53:25have a successful night. That's what we're trying to do.
- 53:28Wait, you're trying to get him laid?
- 53:30I've been to the show to understand that is the through
- 53:32line but how is her being more excited than him?
- 53:36Like, what about that? It just makes it more fun as
- 53:39well because if if Zion keeps picking on him and she's finding
- 53:42it hilarious and is laughing, then he's having a good time
- 53:45because like she's having a good time as well.
- 53:47You. Know, and that often leads to
- 53:49him actually getting laid and I know that because they I've had
- 53:52at least 10 over the years messages on Instagram or
- 53:56whatever like hey, I was Jim from this show and it worked I
- 54:00got laid or a guy in a cafe came up to me last week and was like
- 54:04what was really funny was one guy messaged us and said he got
- 54:07on a plane to leave Las Vegas and he's sitting there and these
- 54:11other group of people see him and go it's Jim Jim.
- 54:16I don't think his name was Jim. I can't remember whatever.
- 54:18His name? Was so you're out here doing the
- 54:20Lord's work, getting people laid?
- 54:22Exactly right, exactly right. No, but it's, and the whole
- 54:25thing is what's really important is that the amount of women that
- 54:30are taking their husbands to these kind of shows and it's
- 54:35like they're the ones behind wanting to maybe the husband
- 54:37bought the tickets, but they're the one that wants to go.
- 54:39So I want to make sure they have a fun time, get their husband
- 54:42come out of his shell a little bit.
- 54:44And if the wife is wanting him to, he will, because I mean the
- 54:48most important thing, he wants to look good in front of her.
- 54:51That's such a cute thought though, too, that like he wants
- 54:53to look good in front of her, but it makes it, it does make it
- 54:56a fun show that lowers everyone's sort of wall.
- 54:59There's a bit at the beginning where you ask the fantasy, but
- 55:01then there's a bit where you ask people's favorite position and
- 55:03it takes a second or I don't know, is that normal?
- 55:05That takes a second. Sometimes it's really different
- 55:08what we get. Sometimes we have people coming
- 55:10straight in with like crazy answers.
- 55:13They're like, yes, now is my moment to yell it out.
- 55:16And then sometimes, you know, you kind of have to warm them
- 55:19up, like, no, it's OK. It's we're just having fun.
- 55:23You can yell out anything you. Know, I find there's often a
- 55:26shift when someone yells the first one and I say something
- 55:30funny or silly back and they're like, oh, we're just having fun
- 55:34here. Because occasionally you feel
- 55:36like it's like, it's not that serious guys.
- 55:38It's not like whatever you say you have to do later.
- 55:40It's just that we just say whatever you want.
- 55:42But also, I think it's a little bit like, am I going to be
- 55:45judged for not knowing enough sex positions?
- 55:47Do you know what I mean? Totally.
- 55:48We just went through the five that it it could be.
- 55:51Pretty much. But but also a really fun thing
- 55:53is when people just yell random stuff out that aren't actually
- 55:56sex positions. And then, you know, we got to
- 55:59come up with a way to turn it into a sex position, you know?
- 56:03Sometimes people say missionary though, just to be cheeky.
- 56:06That's what if that is their favorite, Well, no.
- 56:09Because we've just said we're worried you're going to do
- 56:12something, a missionary. We need something else.
- 56:14Oh, OK, yeah. Oh, that.
- 56:16OK, see, I don't know the show off, but yeah.
- 56:18Yeah, yeah. Because we've just said that and
- 56:20then they say it, it's and they always look, it's always some
- 56:23youngish guy who's looking at me like that's right.
- 56:27Occasionally. Recently I have started to just
- 56:30say shut the fuck up missionary. It does go well.
- 56:34Because it gets a big laugh. Like it just naturally got a big
- 56:37laugh. Well, one day I think I was in a
- 56:39bad mood and they said it shut the fuck up.
- 56:42Missionary so out of character. And that's why it's funny
- 56:45because I'm so excited about everyone's answers.
- 56:48I'm so into everyone's answers. And it was like doggies, Oh my
- 56:51God, what's going on? And he's missionary and shut the
- 56:54fuck up. Yeah, I love that you, at least
- 56:57your most authentic self, as much as you can be in the role
- 57:00is really helpful. But then, you know, you're also
- 57:03vanilla. Like, I'm sorry that I keep
- 57:05coming back to this. When I found this out, I was
- 57:07like, what? My hopes weren't dashed because
- 57:09I was like, I'm just more impressed that someone who's
- 57:11vanilla, like a couple can like, sell it so well.
- 57:15And the audience interaction. I can't, I can't get past this.
- 57:19I cannot explain this enough. It is a comedy show and a sexy
- 57:22show all in one, but it's authentic.
