  let's say prior to today, Long Island serial killer.

  Now the confessed Long Island serial killer, he is confessed

  and at least to 8 murders, which is huge for the families of

  those 8 victims. Of course, there are other

  victims. There were other bodies found

  there on or near Gilgo Beach that we're going to talk about a

  little bit tonight. But it is a momentous day for

  those families. We're going to get into that

  fall into. I mean, I don't know if it's

  really the glorification of the, the serial killer glorification

  might be overstating it. But I guess what I'm getting at

  is I really want to remain victim centric here, OK?

  I want to remain victim centric and I want to remain as always a
• 3:37
  student of humanity. We want to we want to learn from
• 3:43
  this, right? And this is a doozy of a case,
• 3:49
  man. Let's start with maybe a recap
• 3:51
  of the case. OK, This is Rex Heuermann.
• 3:54
  The the case of the Long Island serial killer, which has also
• 4:00
  been called the Gilgo Beach Murders, spanned more than a
• 4:04
  decade. And it's it centers on a series
• 4:07
  of killings connected to a remote stretch of coastline
• 4:11
  along Ocean Parkway in Suffolk County, New York, on Long
• 4:15
  Island. So this case first came to light
• 4:18
  in May 2010, if I remember correctly, when a woman named
• 4:23
  Shannon Gilbert disappeared. I have.
• 4:26
  Oh, Dang it. Gavin did not get a picture of

  Shannon Gilbert. Ready.

  I had John Ray on. Seemed like forever ago, but not

  There she is. OK, it's not it's not a terribly

  good picture of Shannon, but there is Shannon.

  OK, so the case began in 2010 when Shannon Gilbert disappeared
• 5:03
  after running from a home in Oak Beach during the late night
• 5:08
  escort call. She made a frantic 911 call
• 5:12
  saying that someone was after her before she was before she
• 5:16
  vanished. And we've all probably heard
• 5:18
  that call that that call has has come to light and I think mostly
• 5:23
  through the work of John Ray. Do I have a picture of John Ray?

  Man, I just had a real hard time getting ready today.

  John has been on the program a couple of Times Now.

  He is a fancy Dan, really fancy guy.

  John is a lawyer out there in New York.

  OK, now. OK, where were we?

  So police after Shannon disappeared, police began
• 6:13
  searching for her in that area in December of 2010.
• 6:19
  During the search, police didn't find Gilbert right away.
• 6:21
  Instead, they found a shocking discovery.
• 6:25
  They found human remains along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach.
• 6:28
  And over the next several months, investigators uncovered
• 6:32
  multiple sets of remains. 4 of the victims were identified as
• 6:37
  young women who had worked as escorts and had advertises
• 6:40
  advertised their services online and these victims became known
• 6:45
  as the Gilgo Four. They are Maureen Brainerd
• 6:49
  Barnes, who was last seen in 2007, Melissa Bartholemy who was
• 6:56
  last seen in 2009, Megan Waterman, last seen in 2010 and
• 7:04
  Amber Lynn Costello also last seen in 2010.
• 7:10
  All four of these women had been contacted through Craigslist
• 7:16
  before they disappeared. Now, as that search expanded in
• 7:22
  early 2011, investigators discovered additional remains
• 7:27
  nearby. In total, there were at least 10
• 7:31
  sets of human remains that were found that were found along
• 7:35
  Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach in the surrounding areas.
• 7:40
  Some of them dated as far back as the mid 1990s.
• 7:45
  And not all of the victims fit the same profile.
• 7:50
  And that of course, led to years of debate as to whether there
• 7:53
  was one killer or multiple killers.
• 7:56
  I think that debate still will continue because today Rex
• 8:00
  Heuermann pleaded guilty to 8 murders, but there are at least
• 8:05
  10 victims. Shannon Gilbert's remains
• 8:09

  Shannon's remains were eventually found in December of
• 8:21
  2011 in a marsh near where she disappeared.
• 8:25
  Her death was ruled accidental, though that conclusion has been
• 8:29
  heavily disputed, including by our friend John Ray.
• 8:34
  OK now for years, the case stalled.
• 8:38
  There were no arrests, no clear suspect publicly identified.
• 8:43
  There was growing criticism of how the case was handled, not
• 8:48
  only by people like John Ray, but other local authorities.
• 8:51
  It became a political football. And the families of the victims
• 8:57
  were, were pushing for answers. And it became, I mean, when we
• 9:03
  think of serial killers, guys, we think of like the 1970s, do
• 9:08
  we not? Or maybe into the 1980s.
• 9:10
  It just doesn't feel right to have a modern serial killer.
• 9:14
  It's so hard to get a get away with this in in today's age,
• 9:21
  right? So, yeah, this, this one has
• 9:24
  become one of the most infamous until now unsolved serial killer
• 9:32
  cases that the country has had, I mean, for years and years and
• 9:36
  years. The breakthrough.
• 9:38
  And actually what was really interesting to me about this
• 9:41
  case is that unlike, say, Ted Bundy, where his victims were
• 9:51
  known, right? Like at at the time they were
• 9:54
  murdered, they were known. No, these victims just went
• 10:00
  missing and were missing in some cases for decades.
• 10:05
  OK, all right, decades may be overselling it.
• 10:09
  But anyway, in 2022 there was a breakthrough a in Suffolk
• 10:13
  County, New York. A new task force was formed to
• 10:17
  re examine the evidence using updated technology.
• 10:22
  I'm sure they had fresh investigative eyes.
• 10:24
  Every time, you know, there's a new group of people looking at a
• 10:28
  case, they they come to it with different experiences, right?
• 10:32
  They focused heavily on phone records, on digital evidence and
• 10:36
  vehicle data tied to communications with the victims.
• 10:40
  One detail stood out, and that was a dark green Chevrolet
• 10:44
  Avalanche that had been seen by a witness in connection with one
• 10:49
  of the victims. And I think I might have a
• 10:54
  picture of that. Yeah, so like this is a picture
• 11:10
  from when they actually served a search warrant on Mr. Human.
• 11:18
  So there's the green Chevy Avalanche.
• 11:21
  It's very, very specific, right? Because he has that roof rack on
• 11:26
  the top. He also has like, a bed rack
• 11:30
  that is connected to it. Very, very specific.
• 11:35
  OK. All right.
• 11:38
  In July of 2023, police arrested Rex Heuermann.
• 11:44
  He is an architect in Manhattan. He lived in Massapequa
• 11:49
  Massapequa Park on Long Island, and investigators linked him to
• 11:53
  the victims through multiple pieces of evidence including
• 11:57
  burner phone activity tied to victim communications, location
• 12:01
  data placing him near key sites, Internet searches related to the
• 12:05
  case in victims, DNA evidence recovered from items linked to
• 12:08
  the crimes. In fact, Suffolk County District
• 12:12
  Attorney Gavin, hold on. I'm having, I'm having one of

  those moments. What's his name?

  His name is dude. I am.

  So Suffolk County DA Ray Tierney seen here did a press conference
• 12:48
  and we are going to watch that, watch some clips of it here in a
• 12:52
  minute. But first I want to kind of get
• 12:56
  into the victims a little bit. But anyway, Ray Tierney, he, he
• 13:02
  actually talks about how he talked to the victims families
• 13:06
  and said, Please be patient with us and please have faith in us
• 13:10
  because we want to lull this guy into a false sense of security,
• 13:14
  right? So when they arrested Heuermann,
• 13:19
  he was initially charged with the connection of a couple,
• 13:25
  well, a few of the Gilgo 4. So what the what the prosecutors
• 13:31
  alleged was that Heuermann was targeting women working as
• 13:34
  escorts, contacting them through online ads, arranging meetings
• 13:38
  with them and then killing them, right.
• 13:42
  By the way, talk about one of the most dangerous, dangerous
• 13:49
  occupations in this world. If you go to my website,

  It is the case of Shelby Thornburgh.
• 14:06
  This is a case where I am in touch with the victim's family.
• 14:10
  I haven't talked to her in a while, her sister, but we've got
• 14:15
  a few case documents. Her sister was able to.
• 14:18
  Her sister actually was able to give me several photos of the
• 14:24
  crime scene, including like this one because she had to clean up
• 14:29
  the crime scene. So she went and cleaned all of
• 14:31
  this up. Also, you can get to know
• 14:35
  Shelby, but Shelby was also working as an escort for hers in
• 14:39
  Houston, TX. And yeah, she was contacted
• 14:45
  through back. What was it called?
• 14:48
  Backpage. Is that what it's called?
• 14:50
  Yeah, backpage.com. It's it's since then been closed
• 14:53
  down and full on. Just had her coat threat or her
• 14:58
  throat cut. So dangerous, dangerous,
• 15:01
  dangerous occupation. Oh my goodness, I just want to
• 15:08
  just want to protect them all. I, I recognize what I recognize
• 15:12
  how hard life is. And, and I think that like in
• 15:16
  the case of Shelby Thornburg, she's kind of, she was kind of
• 15:23
  lured into that business and she was living a life that, that she
• 15:30
  felt fancy and loved. And no, she was just being used.
• 15:34
  I just. But anyway, that's what that's
• 15:37
  what Rex Heuermann was doing. He was contacting these women
• 15:41
  through Craigslist and then meeting them, killing them.
• 15:49
  The victims were bound and their bodies were then disposed of
• 15:52
  along Ocean Parkway and by the way, and they remained in plain
• 15:58
  sight for years. Right.

  So what makes this case so notorious?
• 16:05
  Well, it stands out because of the long time span.
• 16:08
  I'm going to get into the victims here in just a second of
• 16:11
  the killings starting in 1993, I think, all the way through what,
• 16:18
  20, Gavin. Yeah. 1993 to 2010, so 17 years
• 16:35
  number of victims, obviously the use of online platforms to
• 16:38
  target victims, the years long failure to identify a suspect,
• 16:42
  the years long failure to identify victims and the fact
• 16:47
  that remains were left in such a concentrated area without being
• 16:51
  discovered for so long. All right, so let me let's go
• 16:57
  into the victims, OK? Victim number one, that Rex
• 17:03
  Heuermann has pleaded guilty to their murder is Sandra Costia.
• 17:09
  She was killed in 1993. She was a native of Trinidad and
• 17:13
  Tobago, had been living in New York.
• 17:15
  Her remains were found in the town of North Sea on New York's
• 17:19
  Long Island. Initially, authorities suspected
• 17:22
  a different killer, but the Suffolk County District
• 17:24
  Attorney's Office said advanced DNA linked Heuermann to a hair
• 17:29
  lifted from Costia's shirt. Victim #2 And I'm going in order
• 17:35
  of, you know, chronological order was Karen Vergata.
• 17:40
  So on Wednesday, today, Heuermann admitted to the murder
• 17:44
  of 34 year old Karen Vergata. This is the only photo I could
• 17:47
  find of her. He was not formally charged with
• 17:50
  Vergata's death, but admitted to it as part of the plea
• 17:53
  agreement. Vergata went missing in February
• 17:56
  of 1996 and authorities believe she worked as an escort at the
• 18:00
  time. Some of her remains were found
• 18:02
  in April 1996 on Long Island's Fire Island, and additional
• 18:07
  remains were recovered in April 2011 along Long Island's Tobay
• 18:12
  Beach. She is survived by two sons and
• 18:16
  the DA talks to her sons briefly in the presser victim #3 that
• 18:23
  Mister Heuerman has admitted to is Valerie Mac Valerie Mac was
• 18:29
  killed in 2000. A Hunter's dog recovered or
• 18:32
  discovered her decapitated body in a wooded area of Manorville
• 18:38
  on Long Island on November 19th, 2000.
• 18:43
  Fun fact, that would be the first anniversary of the
• 18:47
  marriage of 1 John Gavin Fish and his beloved snuggly bear,
• 18:53
  Sweetie Pie. One and only Kimberly Fish.
• 18:58
  It's funny when those kinds of coincidences happen, right?

  We had a much happier day. Unfortunately for Valerie Mac,
• 19:11
  her life ended before November 19th.
• 19:15
  Let's see. Her remains were bound with
• 19:17
  rope. Inside a plastic bag was a black
• 19:21
  bag, which was wrapped with duct tape.
• 19:24
  Both of her hands had been severed from her body and one of
• 19:28
  her legs was cut off. According to court records, the
• 19:31
  rest of Mac's remains were found more than a decade later in
• 19:34
  April 2011 along Ocean Parkway near Gilgo Beach.
• 19:39
  So we scattered her remains. Prosecutors said they linked
• 19:43
  Human to Mac's death in part through a mitochondrial DNA
• 19:47
  analysis of a female hair found on Mac's body.
• 19:50
  It matched the profiles of Human's wife and daughter,
• 19:55
  according to court records. Prosecutors said they also
• 19:58
  linked Human to Mac's death through evidence recovered on
• 20:01
  some of the electronic devices they seized from him that
• 20:05
  include his significant collection of violent bondage
• 20:09
  and torture porn. Dating back to at least 1994,
• 20:15
  the online collection included images of mutilation tying up
• 20:19
  women with robes, 2 things prosecutors said are consistent
• 20:22
  with injuries inflicted on Mac and how she was bound.
• 20:27
  Victim #4 was 20 year old Jessica Taylor.
• 20:31
  She went missing in July of 2003.
• 20:35
  Taylor was decapitated. Her arms were severed from a
• 20:38
  torso, possibly in an attempt to hide her identity.
• 20:43
  Some of her remains were found in July of 2003 in Manorville on
• 20:48
  Long Island. Some were recovered in March
• 20:51
  2011 near Gilgo Beach. Taylor's mother, Elizabeth the
• 20:56
  back Bakiol. I don't know how to pronounce
• 20:58
  her name. Sorry.

  I'm sorry, Elizabeth. She told reporters today that
• 21:04
  she's grateful for the guilty plea quote.

  I'm glad this is over. It took a big chunk of stress

  off me and my family, she said. So yeah, 23 years later, almost

  23 years later, OK. Victim #5 is Maureen Brainerd
• 21:21
  Barnes. Maureen was 25 when she vanished
• 21:25
  in 2007. Quote, She had bright blue eyes.

  She was very outgoing, very outspoken, her friend Sarah
• 21:33
  Karnes told ABC News 2020. Every time I talk about it, it
• 21:37
  doesn't get any easier. close quote Brainerd Barnes remains
• 21:41
  were found at Gilgo Beach in December 2010.
• 21:45
  Investigators found DNA belonging to humans, then wife
• 21:49
  and hair recovered from a belt used to restrain Brainerd
• 21:52
  Barnes, according to the indictment.
• 21:55
  Hierman's family was out of state when Brainard Barnes was
• 21:57
  killed, prosecutor said, and his wife was not suspected to be
• 22:00
  involved in her death. Her daughter Nicolette, who was
• 22:06
  seven years old when her mother was killed, told reporters when
• 22:09
  Hierman was charged. While the loss of my mom has
• 22:12
  been extremely painful for me, the indictment by the grand jury
• 22:16
  has brought hope for justice for my mom and my family.
• 22:19
  Nicolette and her brother said today that they accept the plea
• 22:23
  deal. Maureen's sister, Missy Khan
• 22:26
  added that Maureen was never forgotten and the guilty plea
• 22:28
  brings solace to her sister. She said.

  I would never stop searching for justice for you.

  Victim number six is Melissa Barthelemy.

  She was 24. She went missing July 2009.

  Her sister, Amanda Funderburg, had received several taunting
• 22:59
  phone calls in 2009 that were believed to be from the sister's
• 23:02
  killer. Her remains were found in Gilgo
• 23:06
  Beach in December of 2010, police said.

  Victim #7 is Megan Waterman. She was 22.
• 23:17
  She went missing in June of 2010.
• 23:21
  Her remains were found in December of that same year on
• 23:25
  Gilgo Beach. Her daughter Liliana Waterman
• 23:28
  told reporters today that she accepts the guilty plea and is
• 23:30
  very, very thankful. And finally, victim #8 again, in
• 23:36
  chronological order of when they disappeared or were murdered was
• 23:41
  27 year old Amber Lynn Costello, who went missing in September of
• 23:45
  2010. Her remains were found in Gilgo
• 23:50
  Beach in December 2010. Now there are other victims that
• 23:58
  are that are that were found in the aerial, let's say, OK,
• 24:03
  Shannon Gilbert, who we've talked about.
• 24:06
  There is an unidentified woman known as Peaches whose remains
• 24:10
  were found in 1997. There is a baby Doe who is a
• 24:16
  toddler, believed to be Peach's child, whose remains were found
• 24:21
  in 2011. There's Asian Doe, unidentified
• 24:26
  biological male found 2011, believed to have presented as
• 24:31
  female. And then there's Fire Island
• 24:35
  Gene Doe who remains identify unidentified.
• 24:41
  Her remains were found in 1996 and partial remains later were
• 24:47
  linked to the Ocean Parkway discovery.

  So there are 12345 victims including Shannon Gilbert that
• 24:58
  we don't know if they are linked to Mr. Heuermann.

  time saying? Task force detectives identified

  Human as a suspect by using a vehicle registration database to

  connect him to a pickup truck that a witness reported seeing

  when one of the victims disappeared in 2010.

  Heuermann lived for decades in Massapequa Park, about a 25
• 42:40
  minute drive from where the women's remains were found.

  Some of the victims were believed.

  And let's let me real quick, let's get directions to

  Massapequa Park, to Gilgo Beach, just so that we can kind of see

  right? So again, this is where we are

  in the world. For those of you who who are

  outside of the States and are not like geography buffs of the

  United States, specifically New York State, right?

  But New York is in the northeast of the United States.

  I live here in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

  For me, it it, I have to cross all of Pennsylvania, all of New
• 43:31
  Jersey and into New York to get there.
• 43:33
  So it's quite a drive. But then we get down onto Long
• 43:37
  Island and yeah, Massapequa Park is look at that Long Island.
• 43:48
  So it's about a 25 minute drive down to Gilgo Beach.
• 43:58
  All right, let's go back here. Heuermann lived for decades in
• 44:03
  Massapequa Park, 25 minute drive from where the women's remains
• 44:06
  were found. Some of the women or the victims
• 44:08
  were believed to have disappeared from that community,
• 44:11
  and their cell phones were found to have pink towers in the area,
• 44:14
  authorities said. After the truck discovery, a
• 44:17
  grand jury authorized more than 300 subpoenas and search
• 44:21
  warrants, allowing the task force to dig into human's life.
• 44:25
  Detectives collected billing records for burner phones he
• 44:28
  used to arrange meetings with the victims, retested DNA found
• 44:32
  with the bodies and scoured Heuermann's Internet search
• 44:35
  history, which showed that he had viewed violent torture
• 44:39
  pornography and exhibited an intense interest in the Gilgo
• 44:42
  Beach killings and the renewed investigation.
• 44:45
  Cell phone data showed Heuermann was in contact with some victims
• 44:49
  just before they disappeared, investigators said.
• 44:52
  To obtain Huerman's DNA, a task force surveillance team tailed
• 44:55
  him in Manhattan, where he worked, and watched as he threw
• 44:59
  the remnants of his lunch, a box of partially eaten pizza crusts,
• 45:04
  into a sidewalk garbage can. You know if Mr. Huerman would
• 45:10
  just eat his pizza bones. I'm glad he didn't always eat
• 45:14
  the pizza bones, everybody. The crust is the best part of
• 45:16
  the pizza. Don't leave partially eaten

  pizza crusts. This man is a monster on many
• 45:24
  levels. That I'm, that's all I'm saying,

  OK? Investigators rushed in, grabbed
• 45:29
  the box and sent it to the crime lab, which matched DNA from the
• 45:32
  crust to a male hair found on burlap used to restrain one of
• 45:36
  the victims. He was arrested in July of 2023.

  On his computer. Investigators said they found
• 45:44
  what they described as a blueprint for the killings,
• 45:47
  including a series of checklists with reminders to limit noise,
• 45:51
  clean the bodies and destroy evidence.
• 45:54
  And this is reminding me we have thought, yeah, I, we have a, a

  bail application document that has.

  So, I mean, there's so much information here.

  What is it? It's got to be, I don't know, 20

  He thought that by killing them he could silence them forever

  and get away with murder. But he was wrong because it was
• 47:52
  these victims, these women, who refused to stay silent.
• 47:57
  First, that silence was broken by the victims families who
• 48:01
  advocated for their loved ones and agitated for justice.
• 48:09
  Then the noise grew louder through the ensuing
• 48:12
  investigation and examination of the evidence that was that the
• 48:16
  defendant left at or around the crime scenes as well as on the
• 48:20
  bodies of the women themselves that further told the stories of
• 48:25
  these victims and what had actually happened to them.

  It was this evidence that ultimately was put together by
• 48:32
  the task force that proved to be the defendant's undoing and LED
• 48:36
  to hit the pleas of guilt in today's court proceeding.

  And it is in this way that these murders were solved.
• 48:43
  And while we in law enforcement, as well as our Suffolk County
• 48:46
  citizens mourn the loss of these victims, we are also grateful to
• 48:50
  them and to their families because without them, this
• 48:54
  defendant would have never been brought to justice and would
• 48:57
  still be walking amongst us. I'm glad he's given the families
• 49:01
  credit. Portraying himself as that same
• 49:05
  harmless father next father next door instead of what he is, a
• 49:11
  convicted murderer. Ultimately, this case is really
• 49:17
  about these victims and their stories.
• 49:20
  It is not about this defendant. And I speak for everyone in law
• 49:23
  enforcement and when I say we are honored and thankful for
• 49:27
  having being able to have played a small role in obtaining a
• 49:32
  small measure of justice for these families.
• 49:35
  For decades, this case stood out as a painful scar on the face of
• 49:39
  Suffolk County law enforcement, Suffolk County government, the
• 49:43
  citizens of Suffolk County and the victims families as well.
• 49:47
  However, with the defendants pleas of guilt today, it means
• 49:50
  that for the first time since the deaths of these women, we
• 49:54
  can turn to all of these same people and say Rex Uerman will
• 49:59
  be held responsible for the 1993 murder of Sandra Castilla, the
• 50:04
  1996 murder of Karen Vergata, the 2000 murder of Valerie Mac,
• 50:11
  the 2003 murder of Jessica Taylor, the 2007 murder of
• 50:18
  Maureen Brainerd Barnes, the 2009 murder of Melissa
• 50:23
  Barthelemy, the June 2009 murder of Megan Waterman, and the
• 50:28
  September 2010 murder of of Miss Costello.

  Despite this tragedy, you know, there's a lot of different
• 50:44
  emotions. And I guess the word for today,
• 50:48
  despite those, despite the tragedy, despite all those
• 50:50
  motion, those emotions is thankfulness.

  We are thankful we have salt. We have a lot to be thankful
• 50:58
  for. Despite these emotions.

  First and foremost, we are thankful for the victims and the

  victims families who who told their stories, their loved ones

  stories and defended their loved ones legacies.

  Without them, we would have never truly gotten to, we would

  have never truly have gotten to know those victims.

  We were going to be quiet. We were going to pretend as

  And the reason why we were going to do that was because we knew

  what we were doing. We were playing to an audience

  of 1 and that one person, of course, was the murderer.

  We wanted to lure that individual into a false sense of
• 52:44
  security. We wanted him to think he got
• 52:47
  away with this and that was exactly what we did.

  And the reason why we wanted to do that is because when we solve
• 52:54
  this case and we had that those arrest warrants an issue and
• 52:59
  executed those search warrants, we wanted more evidence.

  And that's exactly what we got. So we were, we were thankful for
• 53:07
  that. We're thankful we are to bring
• 53:09
  this case to a close. But it started our inspiration
• 53:13
  was these victims and their families.
• 53:15
  But those families were so much more to us.
• 53:18
  Through them, we truly got to know these victims.
• 53:21
  When we started the the victims were nothing but names on a
• 53:25
  blotter, black and white, writing on investigative
• 53:31
  reports. But once we spoke to the
• 53:33
  victims, they provided us with the color of these women and we
• 53:37
  got to know them as the wonderful mothers, sisters,
• 53:41
  friends and daughters that they were.
• 53:43
  And that inspired us even more to to close this case to come to
• 53:47
  a resolution. So again, first and foremost, we
• 53:51
  are thankful for those families. And I just want to individually,
• 53:55
  you know, mention all of the families, the Brainerd Barnes
• 53:58
  family I already spoke to with Melissa, but I want to thank

  Melissa and and her husband Chris, and their children,

  sentences of that is life without life without the

  possibility of parole. With regard to the other 4

  victims, they pled guilty to 4 counts of murder in the second

  degree, that's Sandra Castilla, Maureen Brainerd Barnes, Valerie

  Mac and Jessica Taylor. Those sentences 25 to life to

  run consecutive to each other and to the murder one charges he
• 1:00:56
  this defendant has additionally agreed to accept responsibility

  for the the murder of Karen Vergata.

  And again, the sentence will be 20 feet, 25 years to life

  without the possibility of parole on the 1st 3 and 25 to
