- 0:00Speaker: Good morning.
- 0:01Speaker: What is the most important thing one can do?
- 0:06Speaker: Is a question I ask myself every day.
- 0:10Speaker: When I get up, the first thing I do is give thanks for just being alive, for becoming aware of the potential of the gift of another day.
- 0:27Speaker: It's simple, not very difficult.
- 0:33Speaker: It's genuine and authentic.
- 0:38Speaker: And it is a practice, it is a habit developed in a desire to be more of a human being, to self-improve, to be conscious.
- 0:59Speaker: Being here together, we all are pursuing the same goals.
- 1:06Speaker: Self-realization.
- 1:09Speaker: It comes and goes.
- 1:11Speaker: It's not always going to be the same.
- 1:15Speaker: It is sometimes a lot more concise and recognizable, and sometimes it is apparently lost, and we are amidst some kind of one-directional thinking or some kind of turmoil.
- 1:37Speaker: Many different things happening in the length of a day.
- 1:44Speaker: A day being so long.
- 1:46Speaker: Many complain that they don't have enough time in their lives to accomplish what they might want to do.
- 1:55Speaker: And this is just not true.
- 2:01Speaker: This is an excuse for not following through on one's desires, on one's goals.
- 2:10Speaker: It is an excuse from being organized enough to accomplish your tasks or one's tasks.
- 2:20Speaker: Not negative nor positive, just trying to be honest and authentic with what we're discussing because this is what we're doing here.
- 2:33Speaker: It is something very precious we're talking about.
- 2:38Speaker: It is our lives.
- 2:42Speaker: One might consider themselves like a large lake, and upon one's birth, it is very big.
- 2:55Speaker: It is the potential of one's life.
- 2:57Speaker: This lake of being rather than water.
- 3:03Speaker: Every day.
- 3:05Speaker: We take out more than we give.
- 3:17Speaker: One need to find balance to add to one's reservoir, one's lake of being.
- 3:30Speaker: One way is to be more aware, to make more value out of each moment as it arrives, as it flows incessantly, cascading and flowing across the totality of our universe.
- 3:52Speaker: Being aware is all we're saying and all we're talking about.
- 4:02Speaker: How does one want to become more aware?
- 4:07Speaker: With a sense of positivity?
- 4:10Speaker: Or lacking this with a sense of negativity?
- 4:17Speaker: Or does one hope to somehow straddle the divide between the two?
- 4:25Speaker: I don't think that's possible.
- 4:28Speaker: I think there is always a confluence of everything going on in the flowing currents of one's being.
- 4:40Speaker: One need to make an effort to be one way or the other.
- 4:47Speaker: How do we determine which way we choose, which way we want to be, which way we accept, which way we develop a work ethic around, or set goals or aspirations around, is a very personal decision that comes about because of one's background, one's parents, one's DNA, one's environment, one's education, one's culture, one's society, what one has learned.
- 5:25Speaker: These are the different characteristics, ingredients in whom we each as individuals are or societies become.
- 5:41Speaker: What are we taught in school?
- 5:44Speaker: What are we taught by our spiritual traditions?
- 5:49Speaker: What are we taught by our governments and our news organizations disseminating information?
- 5:58Speaker: Everyone's got an angle.
- 6:00Speaker: What is one's own angle?
- 6:03Speaker: Is the question each should be asking oneself often.
- 6:10Speaker: All of the time.
- 6:12Speaker: In every few moments of the eighty six thousand four hundred we share in each day, checking in, reflecting.
- 6:25Speaker: Am I doing the right thing?
- 6:27Speaker: Am I allocating my time in a proper way?
- 6:31Speaker: In a proper fashion?
- 6:35Speaker: Am I upholding the commitments that I am making to improve myself?
- 6:43Speaker: Do I even care?
- 6:45Speaker: Am I even aware of what this conversation portends for one's being?
- 6:54Speaker: Someone randomly listening to this podcast might say, What?
- 7:01Speaker: What are they talking about?
- 7:05Speaker: And not care two hoots about what is being said, and that's okay.
- 7:12Speaker: I don't think it's right.
- 7:15Speaker: But I think we need to give an allowance.
- 7:20Speaker: There are among the billions of us here upon this world a degree of understanding and compassion.
- 7:32Speaker: This is what virtuosity would suggest.
- 7:36Speaker: So, in good conscience, this is the way we follow our own practices by being this way.
- 7:44Speaker: This doesn't mean we can't be suggestive of better ways to be oneself, to select a path where one might find more comfort and ease, peace, calm.
- 8:02Speaker: Thinking just by our own experience and by the experience we have found in this our Aquarian age to be more helpful and kindly towards and compassionate of our species and actually of all kinds.
- 8:29Speaker: Because this is not only our world, but everything upon it.
- 8:35Speaker: It is the world of this life that has formed upon this planet, not just mankind.
- 8:45Speaker: Many spiritual traditions steeped in the past have traditions which are somewhat antiquated, don't reflect the knowledge and circumstances we find ourselves in, in this only the twenty-first century of how we're viewing time.
- 9:11Speaker: And we need to look more closely.
- 9:16Speaker: We need to assess and be more honest with the truth.
- 9:22Speaker: People say, Oh, you need to have faith.
- 9:25Speaker: Faith in what?
- 9:27Speaker: Faith in outdated and inaccurate histories of evolution.
- 9:34Speaker: No.
- 9:40Speaker: One can feel compassion and empathy, one can have a degree of understanding that does not ameliorate.
- 9:50Speaker: We need to keep current with what's going on.
- 9:55Speaker: The climate is changing upon our planet.
- 9:59Speaker: We, as Homo sapiens, are changing in everything, evolution is continuing, progressing.
- 10:08Speaker: We need to keep up.
- 10:09Speaker: I'm not suggesting one way or another to believe.
- 10:15Speaker: I am suggesting to better understand what one believes.
- 10:20Speaker: If you choose to have a degree of faith based upon a spiritual tradition, why not?
- 10:30Speaker: It is the prerogative of every individual to believe what they want.
- 10:36Speaker: It is also a commonality amongst Homo sapiens as a social animal to share and communicate and understand different concepts, different philosophies, ideas, which help us understand ourselves as a species.
- 11:02Speaker: And this is all good.
- 11:04Speaker: To see is what we're talking about, to ask is what we're saying, to acknowledge and to spend the time in the first place to investigate is what we're alluding to in all of this, to practice one's mindfulness.
- 11:26Speaker: Well, someone says, I don't know.
- 11:32Speaker: How do you become more mindful?
- 11:34Speaker: By practicing.
- 11:36Speaker: But what am I supposed to practice?
- 11:40Speaker: Practice examining oneself.
- 11:43Speaker: But my mind flutters like a butterfly's wings.
- 11:48Speaker: How, what am I supposed to do?
- 11:53Speaker: Practice being aware of one's physiology is one suggestion.
- 12:00Speaker: My suggestion has been a suggestion for thousands of years.
- 12:06Speaker: People have said follow one's breath, one's physiology, one's pulse.
- 12:12Speaker: And we can take this further, one's warmth, one's shimmering being, one's body's vibration.
- 12:22Speaker: Being aware just of these, allow the thoughts to follow.
- 12:27Speaker: This is the beginning of mindful meditation, asking questions.
- 12:32Speaker: What, when, where?
- 12:34Speaker: Why?
- 12:36Speaker: Who?
- 12:37Speaker: How?
- 12:38Speaker: How did mankind evolve?
- 12:43Speaker: What is mankind?
- 12:45Speaker: Where are we?
- 12:47Speaker: When are we?
- 12:48Speaker: Why are we?
- 12:50Speaker: How did we get here?
- 12:52Speaker: These are all questions which have answers of different sorts and degrees.
- 12:58Speaker: Some are more faith based, some are more scientific in origin.
- 13:04Speaker: You choose.
- 13:06Speaker: This is all.
- 13:08Speaker: Finding a comfortable posture is suggested by many, undisturbed also.
- 13:17Speaker: And then following one's own physiology, you now have a basic mindful meditation.
- 13:24Speaker: Asking these questions.
- 13:26Speaker: Being here now.
- 13:29Speaker: Know, we are bundles of miracles.
- 13:34Speaker: This much I am sure of.
- 13:37Speaker: Beyond this, we have an opportunity to be humble.
- 13:44Speaker: If one wants to validate what is in this universe, and inquires within themselves and outside of oneself, there is the possibility of experiencing the awe, of becoming more aware of our universe, of creation, of having a sense of humility, of having a comparison between what is between our ears and us thinking and the rest of everything.
- 14:22Speaker: As much there also is an opportunity to be thankful.
- 14:29Speaker: For what?
- 14:31Speaker: For being here in the first place, for having an opportunity to exist.
- 14:40Speaker: The music continues for another minute.
- 14:44Speaker: Thinking about these things lead in many directions.
- 14:50Speaker: And I wish the best directions for you. namaste
