- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Do you ever? Find yourself.
- 0:40Rushing certain decisions like you just can't get it done
- 0:44quickly enough, and other things you tend to overthink,
- 0:48overanalyse, procrastinate, and perhaps never even get done at
- 0:53all. Adam here and I was working with
- 0:56a. Client that had.
- 0:57Both of those qualities they would overanalyze big decisions,
- 1:02but things that felt boring or mundane they would almost do too
- 1:06quickly. Even.
- 1:07If it meant sometimes making mistakes that they then had to
- 1:11correct later. So this hypnosis session
- 1:14actually uses that children's tail of the hare, hare and the
- 1:19tortoise as a metaphor. And actually this particular
- 1:23client when I asked the question what animal would represent.
- 1:27Thoughtful. Decision making and action
- 1:31taking in the middle so not overthinking to paralysis
- 1:35analysis but not rushing to get something done even if it makes
- 1:39mistakes. And this particular client said
- 1:42an elephant. So this is an animal that can't
- 1:46be rushed. It's known for having a good
- 1:48memory, high levels of intelligence.
- 1:50So this uses almost an element of parts therapy, but also
- 1:56metaphor of a resource state to find the right balance so that
- 2:01they could make adjustments, take a bit more time when they
- 2:04needed to, but also not take too long if that would impede their
- 2:09ability to make progress. So if you can resonate with this
- 2:13idea of either rushing or taking too long, I think you'll get
- 2:18some value from this. It may be, though, that a an
- 2:22elephant is not the animal that represents the middle ground for
- 2:26you. In which case, although an
- 2:27elephant is used in this particular hypnosis session, you
- 2:31can just replace it with whatever animal would be the
- 2:34middle ground for you. And that might be a lion or a
- 2:36tiger, or it might be a dolphin, something like that.
- 2:39But you get to decide what that animal would be and if you like
- 2:42the idea of working with me directly so we can actually.
- 2:45Work on. Something that is specific to
- 2:48you in a way that is calibrated to your resource States and your
- 2:53outcomes. There will be a link in the show
- 2:55notes where you can schedule a completely free consultation
- 2:59call to explore us working together for now though.
- 3:02Find a quiet. Comfortable place where you
- 3:04won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:27Take a deep breath in and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:37feeling of resourceful relaxation.
- 3:41And as you exhale, just allow your eyes to fully relax.
- 3:49And with your eyes closed, just focus on the sound of my voice
- 3:56breathing in relaxation, and exhale that tension.
- 4:06And just imagine that you're breathing in a feeling of
- 4:11patience and worthiness. And just imagine you're
- 4:17releasing any feelings of pressure, of what you should do,
- 4:24have to do, must do. Just feel that pressure leave
- 4:29your body as it now feels that it's about what you choose to
- 4:36do, what you get to do. And I wonder if you could feel
- 4:43what it would feel like to feel a sense of alignment.
- 4:51No one is forcing you to take a shower, change your clothes,
- 4:58brush your hair, and some people don't.
- 5:04Therefore it's a choice. No obligation, no pressure, just
- 5:11things that you can do if you choose to do them.
- 5:15And if you choose to do them, why not go about those things
- 5:20that aren't particularly interesting in a more pragmatic
- 5:26way? So as you settle in and relax,
- 5:33take an even deeper, comfortable breath in.
- 5:38And as you breathe out, just allow more of that pressure to
- 5:44be released. And as you breathe in and
- 5:48breathe out, I wonder if you could imagine your mind
- 5:53beginning to shift gears from doing to being.
- 6:03And as you relax, you might begin to notice just how safe it
- 6:12feels to let go. Because this time here isn't
- 6:19about racing ahead or achieving anything.
- 6:25It's simply about feeling good where you are right now.
- 6:34And I wonder if each breath takes you a little deeper, if
- 6:41each exhale unwinds a little more tension, as if your body
- 6:47and mind are learning a new rhythm, a steady, calm,
- 6:57confident rhythm. And as you breathe in and
- 7:06breathe out, I want you to imagine a forest.
- 7:14Perhaps a forest from your childhood, or maybe a different
- 7:19forest. And I wonder if you could
- 7:22imagine walking through that peaceful forest on a sunny day,
- 7:30with the ground feels firm yet soft beneath your feet and the
- 7:36sunlight filtering gradually through the leaves of the trees.
- 7:47And I want you to imagine in this forest that you can hear
- 7:52the distant sound of water, perhaps the trickles of a slow
- 7:57moving stream, and the air feels fresh and clean.
- 8:07And with every step, you feel more grounded, more present, and
- 8:17more like yourself. But let's introduce something
- 8:26fun here in this thought, in this forest.
- 8:32As you walk through the forest towards that trickling stream, I
- 8:37want you to notice 3 animals along the path, each
- 8:43representing a different part of your personality or your mind.
- 8:51And the first animal you notice is the hare.
- 8:59Fast, impulsive, full of urgency and pressure, always running,
- 9:07always racing. And perhaps that hare has a
- 9:13voice inside that says you have to do more, you have to go
- 9:18faster, you have to get it right now.
- 9:24And you can see the hair looking stressed, no time for anything
- 9:30that might be boring or mundane. And you can see how that part
- 9:38once tried to help. And maybe that part believed
- 9:43that pressure creates progress, that urgency equals importance.
- 9:53And sometimes it's good to get things done decisively and
- 9:56quickly, but sometimes that can lead to problems in the future.
- 10:06So I want you to come to the conclusion that pressure doesn't
- 10:11make things faster. Pressure makes things harder.
- 10:18It can cloud the mind and shake their hands, turn creativity
- 10:25into tension, and increase the likelihood of mistakes.
- 10:34So take a moment to thank the hare for caring, for trying to
- 10:39help, and imagine gently explaining to the hare that
- 10:43there's a better way now that the pressure can relax, and that
- 10:51positive intention to get things done and do them well can be met
- 10:57through calm enthusiasm and focus, not by rushing.
- 11:05And I want you to see the expression of the hair changing,
- 11:10realizing like the penny drops. Rushing doesn't mean winning.
- 11:22Then say goodbye to the hare. It's just nearby you notice the
- 11:27tortoise. Slow, thoughtful, methodical,
- 11:36but sometimes just too cautious over analysing the same thing
- 11:42again and again. Hesitating sometimes for days,
- 11:47weeks, months, even years. And I want you to get a sense
- 11:56that that tortoise also has a good intention to avoid
- 12:05mistakes, to avoid taking on too much risk.
- 12:13But sometimes it's just too cautious.
- 12:18The tortoise can fall into the trap of analysis paralysis.
- 12:24Every shadow is a threat. Every clause in a contract is a
- 12:29trap. And you can thank that part too,
- 12:37because the intention of the tortoise is to be careful,
- 12:40precise and thorough. Too much thinking slows
- 12:46progress. Months or even years can just
- 12:52create missed opportunities. So just as too much speed causes
- 13:02chaos, sometimes too much analysis can actually create
- 13:12more risk than avoid it. And yet you can accept that both
- 13:18parts are valuable, but what's missing is the ability to find
- 13:26balance or to play each part to its strengths.
- 13:31And I want you to thank the tortoise, because you still need
- 13:40the tortoise, but not quite as tortoise as the tortoises.
- 13:50And then, from between the trees, you notice a third animal
- 13:53approaching, an elephant. Calm, powerful, steady.
- 14:04It doesn't rush like the hare, although it can run if needed,
- 14:10or retreat like the tortoise, although the elephant can remain
- 14:18slow and steady if needed. It moves forward with calm
- 14:23confidence, aware, deliberate, unstoppable.
- 14:33And as you watch the elephant, I wonder if you can feel something
- 14:37inside you realigning a New Balance between energy and ease,
- 14:48speed and steadiness, effort and enjoyment.
- 14:54I want you to get a sense that the elephant can run fast and
- 15:04get things done. And the elephant can discern the
- 15:11risks and make great decisions. And I wonder if this feels like
- 15:21a more useful way of being. The elephant becomes the symbol
- 15:29of your inner peace, calm, powerful, productive and
- 15:34content. In fact, see the expression of
- 15:38satisfaction because the elephant gets more done than the
- 15:43tortoise or the hare, the elephant can't feel the
- 15:48pressure. And I want you to say that the
- 15:53elephant is also wise. And I think the elephant has an
- 15:59inner voice that is useful. But for now, let's turn your
- 16:05attention to your inner voice. The inner voice that when things
- 16:13went wrong would tell you it's not good enough, you should have
- 16:19done better, why can't you just get it right?
- 16:24Or words to that effect. And that voice was never trying
- 16:33to hurt you. It was trying to help, trying to
- 16:42keep you to. High standards.
- 16:45Trying to protect you from disappointment, but that voice,
- 16:52although it had a good intention, was just using the
- 16:56wrong strategy. And you can thank that voice for
- 17:01caring and let it evolve to something more useful.
- 17:10I want to awaken the voice of your inner elephant, a wise old
- 17:21soul with a photographic memory. And what if that voice becomes
- 17:31your inner coach? That when things don't go right,
- 17:38but when mistakes are made, instead of blame and criticism,
- 17:43that voice, the evolved voice, offers constructive feedback.
- 17:52What can I learn from this? What would make it even better
- 17:56next time? What went well that I can build
- 18:01on. Some people believe you either
- 18:06win or you learn. But you don't truly learn if
- 18:11it's linked to blame and shame, guilt and judgement.
- 18:17You learn when it comes from a place of refinement and feedback
- 18:22and adjustment. So with that simple shift, from
- 18:28now on, mistakes become feedback loops, not failures, and every
- 18:35outcome becomes information fuel for improvement, not proof of
- 18:45failure or inadequacy. And you begin to realise that
- 18:53satisfaction isn't a reward you earn, it's a permission that you
- 18:59give yourself, that you can feel good about what you accomplish,
- 19:07not because it's perfect, but because it's honest, real, and
- 19:13yours. And maybe that voice that
- 19:22criticizes is the same voice that made you feel pressure, but
- 19:28maybe it's a different part. And I want you to feel that
- 19:35whether that part is the voice or the hair, ask it what it
- 19:44really wanted for you, the part that was pressuring you to get
- 19:51it done, to get it done fast, to get it done now.
- 19:56And maybe maybe it wanted you to achieve, wanted you to have
- 20:03respect. It wanted you to progress.
- 20:08I wanted you to accomplish things, and I want you to
- 20:17imagine smiling at that part because you know, and now the
- 20:24part knows too, that those things don't come from rushing,
- 20:30they come from rhythm. I want you to get a sense that
- 20:40with the right balance, enough urgency, but enough analysis,
- 20:49you can accomplish more in a year than you can accomplish in
- 20:55five, with mistakes and rushing and over analysis.
- 21:03And I want you to feel that you now have permission to do things
- 21:08at your pace, in your way, as you trust your intuition to get
- 21:13the balance just right and learn from it.
- 21:18If you don't, that part now understands it can get what it
- 21:24wants by becoming enthusiastic instead of urgent, and pragmatic
- 21:31instead of pressured, so that you can move forward at your
- 21:38pace and in your way and still accomplish more.
- 21:45Because what if that calm pragmatism is efficiency in
- 21:51disguise from now on? Maybe you could imagine
- 22:01approaching tasks, big or small, from that place of calm
- 22:07confidence, where you can feel satisfied with the effort and
- 22:13care you bring, and curiosity about what you can improve next
- 22:19time. That when things go well, you'll
- 22:23celebrate them, and when things don't, you'll learn from them.
- 22:30And each moment becomes a stepping stone, not a judgement,
- 22:36but a journey. And I want you to think of that
- 22:41elephant when that feeling of pressure starts to come.
- 22:48Because you can pause, take a breath and ask yourself with the
- 22:53elephant rush. And instantly you'll remember
- 23:00that power and patience can coexist.
- 23:07And I want you to think of yourself in the days and weeks
- 23:09ahead, perhaps working on something important, a project,
- 23:15to plan a goal, but see that version of you with the same
- 23:22qualities and mannerisms that you admired in the Elephant.
- 23:27Calm but engaged, focused but relaxed and looking satisfied
- 23:35with the process. And if a mistake happens, see
- 23:41yourself smiling and learning from it.
- 23:47And if things go well, see yourself enjoying that too,
- 23:53because your satisfaction becomes sustainable, like a
- 23:57steady heartbeat of pride and peace.
- 24:02And see yourself completing that project, that goal, knowing that
- 24:07you did enough and that you are enough.
- 24:15And when you see that future version of you with the balance
- 24:18just right, step into that future version of you and feel
- 24:26how you would feel in advance. No pressure, no blame, no
- 24:32criticism. And notice how much easier it is
- 24:38to make decisions, to get things done, to research, or even the
- 24:45things that seem benign and mundane.
- 24:52Just enough time and attention to mitigate risk without feeling
- 24:58like you're rushing or going too slow.
- 25:00And whenever you see an elephant, either real a picture,
- 25:11a model, this point onwards, this will be an anchor to remind
- 25:16you. But neither the hare nor the
- 25:20tortoise are optimal for you. It becomes a way to instantly
- 25:27ground you into that place that is perfectly balanced for you
- 25:33and your life. But it's time to leave this
- 25:38forest. But before you leave, the
- 25:42elephant is handing you something by its trunk, a ball
- 25:48of glowing energy. And you can take it, place it on
- 25:53your chest, knowing that this inoculates you from future
- 25:58pressure, because this is the resource of self belief and self
- 26:04trust, that you can trust yourself to do things in a way
- 26:10best suited to you. You give the elephant a hug, say
- 26:17goodbye as you take a deep breath in through your nose and
- 26:23out through your nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 26:26wiggle your toes as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you
- 26:32Starting to count 123 Waking up 456 More alert 7-8 open your
- 26:40eyes, open your eyes 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 26:47awake. Thank you so much for joining me
