- Cindy Marler: Standards. We all have them, whether we realize it or not. We all have different ones. Standards. What are some of your standards? A standard is like the measuring stick we use to judge what we want. It could be we have have you ever heard the expression high standards, low standards? It defines the level of something you expect. Do you have a standard of where you stay at hotels? I remember once my once I started traveling with young children, I had a standard that there was room service because I wanted food delivered to the room so that as I was with my children, it made my life easier. I didn't have that standard before I had children. I had no problem leaving my hotel room and going for food. But after I had children, I had a standard for where I stayed. Do you have a standard for your home? Do you have a standard for the food you eat? It's a rule that kind of tells you what you can and cannot do. But the problem comes in our lives when we're not aware of the standards we have. And sometimes they're too high and unrealistic. Maybe you have standards for people close in your life that's really too high or unrealistic for them. What about standards you have for your children? Are they realistic? Are they attainable? What about standards you have for your spouse? Are they taking who they are into consideration? What about standards you have for yourself that are too low because you really never set them? You've really never thought about that area of your life. Well, think about it. I see myself some as someone who reads every day, reads something every day. I don't do it every day, but that's a standard I have for myself because I know what reading 15 minutes a day can do. So what are your standards? What are some of your standards in your professional life, in your personal life, in your physical life? What are some of your standards in your spiritual life? What are some of your standards for your friends, the people you surround yourself with? Do you have sur Do you have standards for the people who influence your life? Because you should, because you become like the five people you hang out with. So if you don't have standards for those five people, then you're becoming like someone that doesn't match up with your standards. Do you have standards like we would never go out to eat in a dirty kitchen, gross roaches running around everywhere? So we do have standards, but we should think about. The standards across all areas of our life? And do they line up with who we are, where God is taking us, where we want to be and how we see ourselves? So just for today, what are your standards?
