Latest / The Third Thing / S2E21: Astrology & Friendship Compatibility (pt 1): Reading Your Natal Chart
Transcript
- 0:08Danyelle: Welcome to the Third Thing, a podcast about friendship in all its fullness.
- 0:13Danyelle: The conflict worth repairing, the evolution worth honoring, and sometimes the letting go.
- 0:18Michelle: Think of it as a kitchen table conversation with honesty, laughter, validation, and plenty of tea.
- 0:25Danyelle: I'm Danielle, a therapist, healer, and voodoo practitioner who's been thinking about the way we love each other for most of my life.
- 0:33Michelle: And I'm Michelle, a life coach, facilitator, and a spaceholder at my core.
- 0:38Michelle: I've spent a lifetime helping people communicate better and more honestly.
- 0:42Danyelle: We've been best friends for 26 years and we've got the first days.
- 0:47Danyelle: We've done the work and we want to share what we've learned.
- 0:49Danyelle: The tools, our kinds, nobody likes.
- 0:53Danyelle: There are a lot of people figuring out their good.
- 0:56Danyelle: So we're pulling up a chair.
- 0:58Danyelle: Good.
- 0:58Danyelle: I think I had a little bit too much caffeine this morning.
- 1:02Danyelle: What actually, I take it back.
- 1:04Danyelle: I haven't had a matcha in a few days.
- 1:07Danyelle: Oh.
- 1:07Danyelle: And I made myself a matcha this morning.
- 1:10Danyelle: And I can feel it running through my veins.
- 1:12Michelle: It's a fine line for me.
- 1:14Michelle: I want to be like real caffeinated, but then it will quickly switch into jitters and like illness.
- 1:23Michelle: Yes.
- 1:24Michelle: If I get like a little too excited.
- 1:25Michelle: Yeah.
- 1:26Danyelle: This is why I don't drink coffee.
- 1:27Danyelle: God, I love coffee.
- 1:28Danyelle: I don't.
- 1:29Danyelle: Okay.
- 1:30Danyelle: And I appreciate that because I would feel sad if I like I liked it, loved it, enjoyed it, and I couldn't drink it.
- 1:40Danyelle: Oh, fair.
- 1:41Danyelle: Yeah.
- 1:41Danyelle: Like I was like, why couldn't you drink it?
- 1:43Danyelle: Oh, I don't like coffee.
- 1:45Danyelle: Yeah.
- 1:46Danyelle: And I don't and I can't drink it.
- 1:48Danyelle: Yeah.
- 1:49Danyelle: Because it gives me the worst anxiety.
- 1:52Danyelle: Okay.
- 1:53Danyelle: So jittery, so uncomfortable in my mind.
- 1:55Danyelle: Yeah.
- 1:55Danyelle: And occasionally because I'm very caffeine sensitive, a matcha will do it to me.
- 2:00Michelle: I feel like I will like go to bed being like, can't wait for coffee in the morning.
- 2:05Michelle: Wow.
- 2:06Michelle: Like it's joy for me.
- 2:09Michelle: Drugs, you name?
- 2:11Michelle: Yeah, that's what I said.
- 2:15Michelle: What do you mean?
- 2:18Danyelle: Mom drugs.
- 2:19Danyelle: I mean, I'm telling you, every time at the airport, 6 a.m., the line is the longest.
- 2:26Danyelle: You can't tell me that's not, you know, drugs.
- 2:28Danyelle: Yeah.
- 2:29Michelle: Caught me up.
- 2:30Michelle: All right.
- 2:31Michelle: Well, speaking of uh coffee versus tea.
- 2:35Michelle: Ooh, that was good.
- 2:37Michelle: Thank you.
- 2:37Michelle: A little segue for you.
- 2:38Michelle: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:39Michelle: Yeah.
- 2:39Michelle: Kick us off.
- 2:40Danyelle: I'm so excited.
- 2:43Danyelle: We're gonna be talking about astrology and friendship compatibility.
- 2:48Danyelle: And really just like, how do you use your natal chart to benefit your friendships?
- 2:55Danyelle: And what even is a natal chart?
- 2:57Danyelle: Dun dun dun.
- 2:58Danyelle: I don't know why I said that.
- 3:00Michelle: Could be, I mean, in my case, it's dun dun dun.
- 3:04Michelle: So yeah.
- 3:05Danyelle: That's like confirmed.
- 3:07Danyelle: Um your natal chart, our natal charts, are the snapshot of the sky when you take your first breath.
- 3:16Danyelle: So the moment you are brought into the world, you arrive in the world, what are the skies doing?
- 3:23Danyelle: That is your natal chart.
- 3:25Danyelle: And so everybody has one.
- 3:27Danyelle: And it's important that you know a time of birth as well as the date and where, because that makes a difference.
- 3:35Michelle: I love that we're bringing up this topic because when Danielle and I were kind of concepting around the third thing, you know, there are other friendship podcasts, podcasts where it's just friends talking about pop culture or what have you, or there are individual folks talking about friendship from a more like clinical lens or a tool-based lens.
- 3:59Michelle: And so not only does it feel unique that we're coming with our backgrounds and our friendship, but also I get to talk about a corporate background if and when it makes sense, or consulting, or my MBA, and you get to bring tarot and astrology and your witchiness alongside being a therapist.
- 4:20Michelle: And so I feel like it's just something unique that we're bringing that not everyone else has traversed or brought to the table.
- 4:31Danyelle: Variety.
- 4:32Danyelle: Layers.
- 4:33Danyelle: That's my favorite word.
- 4:34Danyelle: Yeah.
- 4:35Danyelle: I do really like that word.
- 4:36Danyelle: Yeah.
- 4:36Danyelle: What was your first experience with the Natal chart?
- 4:40Michelle: That's a good question.
- 4:41Michelle: It's funny, I got a reading when I was like 15 or 16, I want to say, but it was my mom's friend, and looking back on it, I'm not sure how much I should have trusted it.
- 4:53Michelle: But she obviously honed in on my Aries placements and basically told me that I was gonna be a lawyer or politician.
- 5:04Michelle: But very like leadership, something well, I don't know.
- 5:09Michelle: The word the words aren't coming today.
- 5:11Michelle: It's not like powerful, but like something with litigation or you know, that kind of a thing.
- 5:17Michelle: Telling people what to do, telling people what to do, moving them into places, really bringing facts to the table.
- 5:23Michelle: And it's funny because I did major in political science in undergrad, partially because we loved politics and still do, but then realizing that that did not transition into a love of the law for me.
- 5:39Danyelle: It did not for me either.
- 5:40Michelle: Yeah, I even signed up for the L Sats.
- 5:42Michelle: Oh, damn.
- 5:43Michelle: I didn't even know that.
- 5:44Michelle: Took a class and everything.
- 5:45Michelle: Wow.
- 5:46Michelle: Yeah, thank you.
- 5:46Michelle: Yeah, I think I took I took a class on the constitution and I was like, I'm good.
- 5:51unknown: Oh, I loved it.
- 5:53Michelle: But do you know I met a friend in that class who's the one who encouraged me to do semester at sea, and he was like, it'll change your life.
- 5:59Michelle: And it not only did it do that, but I traveled the world and it's like a huge part of who I am now.
- 6:07Michelle: Anyway, so quite a rabbit hole we went down.
- 6:11Michelle: So that was my first, but I would say as an adult, definitely introduced to it from you.
- 6:19Michelle: I had a couple friends at work prior to 2020, maybe like 2018-ish, that we would look at our co-stars every morning together and laugh because it would just read us for filth.
- 6:30Michelle: And it would be like, don't try and do anything productive today because you'll fail.
- 6:34Michelle: Like, Jesus.
- 6:36Michelle: Okay.
- 6:37Michelle: And then as I've mentioned on previous episodes, whenever you're diving deep into a topic, I try and follow along at least peripherally or be a part of the journey so that we can have meaningful conversations.
- 6:50Michelle: And then I, through my coaching program, had a coaching pal read my chart around my daughter and sort of cross-compare the two of us and look at some of the like karmic connections around why we sometimes struggle together.
- 7:11Michelle: And then lastly, in my most recent role, almost everyone at the company and at this experiential agency was into astrology.
- 7:21Michelle: And so it was like literally an interview question would be what's your sign and your rising, and even consultants we would work with, like it was all very much a part of the lexicon, which made it just really fun.
- 7:33Michelle: That's so fun.
- 7:34Danyelle: I love that.
- 7:35Danyelle: What about you?
- 7:37Danyelle: I'm thinking about how it's like a hashtag goals to ask what's your big six is on an intake for therapy.
- 7:50Michelle: Fun.
- 7:50Michelle: Yeah.
- 7:51Danyelle: Yeah.
- 7:52Michelle: Because you're like, I'm gonna know you before you tell me.
- 7:54Danyelle: Yeah.
- 7:55Danyelle: And it's it's it's a tool, it's beautiful.
- 7:58Danyelle: Yeah.
- 7:59Danyelle: Um so I wanna say my first experience with a natal chart, definitely in my 20s.
- 8:12Danyelle: Um, I think it was like horoscopes.
- 8:14Danyelle: I knew I was a Sagittarius.
- 8:17Danyelle: I would read those from like a very young age.
- 8:19Danyelle: No idea what they meant because I was a kid and they were at the back of the magazines saying who knows what about whatever.
- 8:29Danyelle: But yeah, loved it, like just really embodied whatever they were saying.
- 8:35Danyelle: And then I want to say in my 20s, I started to understand more about like, oh, but you have a rising and a moon and kind of what it is, this snapshot of the first breath you take, and just learning more and more and more and more.
- 8:50Michelle: And then I would say actually, really quick, I think that that's something that's not widely known or understood, that there are different elements, like most people know their sun sign, and that's it.
- 9:02Michelle: And I know one of my friends had said to you, Oh, I'm an Aquarius, but I've never really resonated with it that much.
- 9:10Michelle: And you, I think, introduced to her this idea of maybe not that she didn't know, but she'd never really dug into it, this idea of there are other placements that play a role.
- 9:19Danyelle: Absolutely.
- 9:20Danyelle: But and I think that's really common to resonate more or less with specific placements.
- 9:27Danyelle: Right.
- 9:27Danyelle: It epps and flows.
- 9:29Danyelle: Um, but yeah, I want to say probably in the last 10 years, astrology has just been in my orbit regularly, whether it's through the pattern app or co-star or time passages.
- 9:44Danyelle: I just love astrology.
- 9:47Danyelle: And I would say six or seven years ago, I got introduced to Jessica Lineado.
- 9:53Danyelle: And I'm just obsessed with her podcast, Ghosts of a Podcast, which is a weekly astrology, what's happening in the cosmos.
- 10:02Danyelle: And then she does readings for people based on questions that they have.
- 10:06Danyelle: And I just, I just love it.
- 10:09Danyelle: It's actually interesting since we have been working together on Mondays.
- 10:13Danyelle: That's typically what I listen to on my drive to meet you.
- 10:16Danyelle: And I think it's a really great way for me to just center myself in what is happening in the cosmos and what is happening in my life.
- 10:26Danyelle: I believe in the as above, so below.
- 10:29Danyelle: And this idea of what is happening in the cosmos is being mirrored in this realm.
- 10:36Danyelle: And so when there's chaos in the cosmos, there's chaos here.
- 10:40Danyelle: And when there's calm and maybe some more flow in the cosmos, there's more calm and flow here.
- 10:46Danyelle: I feel like astrology is very much a tool that I use to anchor myself and understand, you know, why am I feeling like this?
- 10:57Danyelle: This past Mercury retrograde, which retrograde is when any planet spins backwards.
- 11:03Danyelle: And this past Mercury retrograde, I don't know one person who wasn't like, when is it over?
- 11:09Danyelle: I'm born under Mercury retrograde.
- 11:12Danyelle: And so I don't feel it as intensely as some other folks who who are born when it's station direct.
- 11:18Michelle: But this past one, wow.
- 11:21Michelle: Yeah, if if you all experienced one of our episodes that didn't have an intro, you're welcome.
- 11:28Michelle: And I'm sorry.
- 11:29Michelle: That did happen.
- 11:30Danyelle: My text to you was, and Mercury strikes again.
- 11:34Danyelle: Yeah.
- 11:35Michelle: I really like this idea of what you were just saying as above so below.
- 11:41Michelle: For me, for someone who's a little less versed, and sometimes I can, I think it's just a bit in my nature, which I'm sure you'll tell me about, but to not always feel like I can dive into a conversation about something if I don't fully understand it.
- 11:54Michelle: Obviously, we have safety in our relationship, and you all get to now be a part of that.
- 11:58Michelle: But what I will say is I like to think of astrology as this study of patterns, like the stars have been well documented and studied by magnitude of cultures and documented in ways that we can look at we can look at patterns and and the impact.
- 12:17Michelle: And also I like it as a tool for nothing's happening in a vacuum.
- 12:23Michelle: So when we meet someone, they're bringing these layers of their personhood to the table.
- 12:30Michelle: It's their past experiences, it's where they were born, it's traumas they may have experienced, it's confidence and love, and it's also their natal chart.
- 12:40Michelle: And I like it as one of the pieces that we get to bring to each other and explore.
- 12:45Michelle: And it's almost like a puzzle as you learn about people and you get more of an insight because Danielle will sort of like collect everyone's birth information, and it just seems to bring you so much joy too.
- 12:58Michelle: It's like kind of unwrapping a present.
- 13:02Michelle: You get to look at all the details and ask questions and kind of align with the ways that they present and how that might be representative of their signs in different places.
- 13:13Danyelle: Yeah, I agree.
- 13:15Danyelle: And one of the things I say often is astrology doesn't control for therapy, for trauma, for lived experience.
- 13:28Danyelle: It is very much this kind of underlying current that is present with you your whole life.
- 13:35Danyelle: But as we said, sometimes you're gonna really resonate with your sun, or sometimes you're really gonna resonate with your rising.
- 13:41Danyelle: Sometimes you don't know that you have a placement that is very prominent and you can't figure out like, why do I feel very Scorpio or why do I feel very Gemini?
- 13:51Danyelle: And it's like, oh yeah, because that's one of you know, that's you have you have prominent, you know, placements there, or it's sitting in a house that is really activated in this moment.
- 14:02Danyelle: And so it does ebb and flow as the skies do, as the skies move, it changes for us.
- 14:08Danyelle: So I I love everything that you just said, and I think it is this way of being able to tether, you know.
- 14:19Danyelle: I don't think you should ever blame a sign on bad behavior.
- 14:23Danyelle: Right.
- 14:24Danyelle: Bad behavior, yeah.
- 14:25Danyelle: And yeah, like sometimes, you know, I am very heady, I've got a lot of air in my chart.
- 14:33Danyelle: You are much more grounded, much more methodical, you have a lot of earth in your chart.
- 14:38Danyelle: And we'll get into our individual charts shortly, but it's just helpful.
- 14:44Danyelle: I think oftentimes for new people, one of the things that I will say is if you take out the details of what each sign means and you just group them by the elements, if you think about what happens when you put air and fire together, it gets bigger.
- 15:03Danyelle: What happens when you pour water into earth?
- 15:06Danyelle: Things can grow.
- 15:08Danyelle: And so if you look at it just from that perspective of what elements do I have, or what elements do I know I have?
- 15:15Danyelle: And what elements do I know my friend has?
- 15:19Danyelle: And how do they work together?
- 15:21Danyelle: How are they maybe beneficial?
- 15:24Danyelle: How are they maybe harmful?
- 15:26Danyelle: What are the ways that I haven't thought about putting those elements together to make things work?
- 15:31Michelle: Can it also this question might be a little out of turn, but can it also create kind of a chaos within yourself?
- 15:39Michelle: So if you think about like maybe water puts out fire, like if you have fire and water, can you sort of feel like that conflict within?
- 15:48Michelle: Yeah.
- 15:49Danyelle: Okay.
- 15:49Danyelle: Absolutely.
- 15:50Danyelle: And I don't know if conflict or chaos is exactly the word I would use, but it's a kind of balance, right?
- 15:57Danyelle: I'm very grateful for the water I have in my chart because I am mostly air and fire.
- 16:02Danyelle: And I need water to simmer me.
- 16:06Danyelle: I think about my water placements as like a mist that keeps my fire and that air from combusting.
- 16:15Danyelle: And so it is a way when you can understand it from that perspective to find balance, to really harness your fire, your air, your earth, your water when you need it.
- 16:29Michelle: So I'm gonna say something.
- 16:32Michelle: Tell me if I have understood it correctly, and then I would love to ask you to break down some of like what does it mean, your sun, your rising, et cetera.
- 16:42Michelle: So all of the signs are broken up into air, water, fire, and earth.
- 16:49Michelle: When I think about fire, it's exactly as you would think.
- 16:53Michelle: It's it's fiery, it's igniting, it's energetic, it's leadership, but it can also be a bit aggressive at times, potentially like headstrong or stubborn.
- 17:05Michelle: Water, I think of as being a little more emotional, maybe a little more like flowing and easygoing at times.
- 17:12Michelle: Is that the right way of putting it?
- 17:13Michelle: I think of air as being kind of like heady and creative, but also maybe sometimes a bit disembodied and like out there.
- 17:23Michelle: And then I think of earth as being like salt of the earth, like grounded and confident.
- 17:30Michelle: But then maybe also maybe Zype would put stubbornness in the earthiness.
- 17:34Michelle: Is that like some general ways to think of those signs?
- 17:37Michelle: Absolutely.
- 17:38Danyelle: I think again, if we think about just the elements and what they do, yes, fire is going to be, you know, something that's moves, right?
- 17:47Danyelle: The one thing that I would say is like it's also illuminating, it's also very warming.
- 17:52Danyelle: Okay.
- 17:52Danyelle: It's also the ways in which that fire can clear, right?
- 17:57Danyelle: A lot of indigenous cultures use fire to maintain the environment as a way to clear the brush to make sure that crops can be replanted based on to sort of start anew.
- 18:11Michelle: Start anew, right?
- 18:12Michelle: And I kind of think about so I'm in Aries as my as my son's sign, and it's the first sign in the chart.
- 18:19Michelle: I kind of think of it like the fool.
- 18:21Michelle: Is that right?
- 18:22Michelle: A little bit, like maybe not as young, but more like starting energy, like let's get it started.
- 18:27Michelle: Exactly.
- 18:28Danyelle: Yeah, I I would say a thousand percent.
- 18:30Danyelle: Also, look at you talking about the fool and astrology.
- 18:34Michelle: Tarot, do the thing like it means I love it.
- 18:36Michelle: I'm listening.
- 18:37Michelle: Oh, I don't just hear you, I hear you.
- 18:41Danyelle: Yeah, I think this is a great time to transition into just talking about the chart.
- 18:45Danyelle: And one of the things that we really want to anchor us into is this is not a 101.
- 18:52Danyelle: This is not us teaching.
- 18:53Danyelle: This is just wanting our listeners to feel like they know what we're talking about in the moment.
- 18:59Danyelle: So locating some of these words.
- 19:02Danyelle: So it's not a whole bunch of jargon that at the end of the episode you're like, what were they talking about?
- 19:07Michelle: Totally.
- 19:08Michelle: And I appreciate that because there are probably super in-depth podcasts or tutorials or YouTube videos where you can really understand origin and placements.
- 19:21Michelle: I agree with you.
- 19:22Michelle: I think it's like so that we can tell stories and talk about how we've used it in our friendship in a way that's not losing you along the way.
- 19:30Michelle: And that also ideally you would be able to locate yourself and connect it to your own experiences as well.
- 19:37Danyelle: Yeah.
- 19:38Danyelle: So I want to start just breaking down the big six.
- 19:41Danyelle: Okay.
- 19:41Danyelle: Oftentimes we hear about the big three.
- 19:45Michelle: Yeah, I've never heard the big six before.
- 19:47Danyelle: Yeah, I think it's important to bring in those three additional planets because it rounds out the depth of the needle chart without getting so much in the weeds.
- 19:59Danyelle: Okay.
- 20:00Danyelle: So if we think about the big three, our sun, rising, and moon.
- 20:04Danyelle: Your sun is what you project out.
- 20:06Danyelle: If you think about what the sun does, it shines, it's it's there, it kind of is a spotlight.
- 20:12Danyelle: So the sun sign is how people initially kind of like see you.
- 20:18Michelle: And that's determined by like your month and date of birth.
- 20:22Danyelle: So I think it's important for us to start with our the big three.
- 20:27Danyelle: And so that is your sun, rising, and moon.
- 20:31Danyelle: And the sun is your core identity.
- 20:35Danyelle: So if you think about how the sun shines outward, it's this idea of what is happening in the inside, what is happening in the ways that you move through the world, the ways that you understand the world.
- 20:49Danyelle: We move to the rising, which is really how people see you.
- 20:54Danyelle: And I think about this as when people meet you for the first time, what is the sign or what is the energy that they might be picking up on?
- 21:03Danyelle: And then your moon sign is your emotions, how you understand them, how you process them, how you kind of bring them in from the external.
- 21:12Danyelle: And often people will know they're big three.
- 21:15Danyelle: And so, my big three, I'm a Sag sun, I'm a Gemini rising, and I'm a Cancer moon.
- 21:21Michelle: So, what does that mean for you?
- 21:23Danyelle: So I always really appreciate this dichotomy because Gemini and Sagittarius are sister signs.
- 21:29Danyelle: So they're opposite signs.
- 21:30Danyelle: And so, right in the like me taking my very first breath, this idea of duality, of not quite the twins like Gemini, but this idea of how do you mix one person in opposites?
- 21:52Danyelle: And I think it does really show up in me that I have these both ends that feel very fluid.
- 22:00Danyelle: In my body, I feel very innate.
- 22:02Danyelle: And then my cancer moon, which I love so deeply, is what makes me a nurturer, what makes me somebody who wants to hold space.
- 22:15Danyelle: Cancer is the mother of the zodiac.
- 22:20Danyelle: And so if you think about mothering, even from a gender neutral perspective, it is nurturing, it's caretaking, it's being able to hold.
- 22:30Danyelle: And so cancer is also at home in the moon.
- 22:34Danyelle: And so if you have a placement where the planet lives there, it's just going to be bigger.
- 22:40Danyelle: It's going to feel bigger.
- 22:40Danyelle: It's going to come out bigger.
- 22:42Danyelle: And so that cancer moon placement for me, I feel like is such a beautiful like shower on my fire and air.
- 22:52Michelle: Okay.
- 22:52Michelle: So your core identity is Sagittarius, fiery energy.
- 22:57Michelle: How else would you explain, like just in a few words, of your core identity sun sign?
- 23:03Danyelle: Yeah.
- 23:03Danyelle: Sag is the sunflower.
- 23:05Danyelle: So it is bright, it is shiny, it is bubbly, it is very like hey.
- 23:11Danyelle: Playful.
- 23:12Danyelle: Yeah.
- 23:12Danyelle: Very playful.
- 23:14Danyelle: I think I had mentioned this before, like very like hands-off, laissez-faire, like go with the flow.
- 23:20Danyelle: Okay.
- 23:20Danyelle: Always go into do something different.
- 23:23Michelle: Okay.
- 23:23Michelle: And then you said your moon, which is like where your emotions live, is in cancer.
- 23:28Michelle: So that sort of like doubles down into like both being able to hold, but also deeply feeling.
- 23:33Michelle: And then you have your rising, which is Gemini.
- 23:36Michelle: How would you describe the Gemini?
- 23:38Michelle: Don't know that much about that sign.
- 23:40Danyelle: Yeah, I love Gemini.
- 23:42Danyelle: One thing I should have said at the beginning is anchoring us in there's light and dark to every sign.
- 23:48Danyelle: There's no sign that is better than the others.
- 23:52Danyelle: And like everybody will come for me on this, but it's just the same way I feel about tarot cards.
- 23:57Danyelle: They're just, it's neutral.
- 23:59Danyelle: It's just a part of your identity.
- 24:01Danyelle: And so Geminis and Scorpios specifically typically get a lot of flack.
- 24:07Danyelle: They're not the most loved across the zodiac.
- 24:11Danyelle: Gemini for me is when I think about the twins, it's this idea of walking in a room and having two sets of eyes.
- 24:18Danyelle: So you're observing, but you're also present.
- 24:21Danyelle: This idea of kind of like seeing the macro and the micro are very inquisitive, very curious.
- 24:28Danyelle: They are rabbit holers.
- 24:29Danyelle: They know a lot about a little, or they know a little about a lot.
- 24:35Danyelle: Um, and often will really kind of dive into a subject and get hyper-fixated on it for a little bit and then move to the next thing.
- 24:44Danyelle: Got it.
- 24:45Danyelle: Very much speaking to my neurospicy brain.
- 24:48Michelle: Okay.
- 24:48Michelle: And I love that you said that too, because again, that reminder that your astrology is also connected to your lived experience, is also connected to mental health, either connected andor layered on top of.
- 25:02Michelle: And so it's not like you just because someone says I'm a Saj son, you're gonna exactly know who they are.
- 25:09Michelle: There's always individuality here.
- 25:11Michelle: But again, there are these patterns that you can sense.
- 25:14Michelle: And from what you said about reading your horoscope, I felt similarly, which makes sense because I have multiple Aries placements.
- 25:21Michelle: So whenever I would read the Aries horoscope, it was like 100% me.
- 25:25Michelle: I've never been able to really turn away from it and be like, uh, like kind of.
- 25:30Michelle: It's just, it's always that's me.
- 25:34Michelle: Well, tell us more about your big three.
- 25:37Michelle: Yeah.
- 25:37Michelle: So my son sign, my core identity, Aries, very fiery, very passionate leadership qualities.
- 25:45Michelle: That doesn't always mean I have to be the leader, but I like to be in charge.
- 25:49Michelle: I like to take charge.
- 25:51Michelle: I like to get things started and kicked off and encourage others to join me, but not from a place of like recruitment, more from a place of like leading by example or like join me or get left behind kind of energy.
- 26:05Michelle: Correct.
- 26:07Michelle: And yeah, so anything else you would add about Aries?
- 26:12Danyelle: It's the initiator.
- 26:13Danyelle: As you said, it's the very first sign of the zodiac.
- 26:17Danyelle: And so I think of it as the new year.
- 26:20Danyelle: So I absolutely celebrate the zodiac new year in March.
- 26:24Danyelle: And if you think about it, it's just another time for renewal.
- 26:28Danyelle: And we start off the zodiac in fire, which is this idea of cleansing, starting over again, being able to start back anew, clean, fresh.
- 26:38Danyelle: It's the spark.
- 26:39Michelle: And I can definitely be impatient.
- 26:43Michelle: And I think impatient gets a bad rap too, but it can be hard to have one without the other.
- 26:49Michelle: Being the kind of person who does want to initiate and get things moving, if I was just laissez faire easygoing all the time, it wouldn't quite match up.
- 26:58Michelle: So, like you said, there's kind of light and dark, there's duality in each of the signs.
- 27:02Michelle: I think that's something that with therapy and growing up and becoming more embodied with myself, I can regulate better, but that spark, that sassiness still definitely lives within.
- 27:15Michelle: My moon sign is also Aries.
- 27:18Michelle: So the way that I process emotions andor express emotions is similarly so passionate, fiery, impatient.
- 27:28Michelle: Umpatient.
- 27:30Michelle: It's it's interesting.
- 27:31Michelle: I'm definitely a very empathetic person.
- 27:34Michelle: It doesn't take a lot for me to cry like on a movie or in a book, sobbed my face off the other night at a Lily Heart book.
- 27:41Michelle: But also I can sometimes be impatient with other people's emotions, which is interesting.
- 27:46Michelle: But like either wanting them to catch up to me.
- 27:50Michelle: Um, yeah, so that's interesting.
- 27:53Michelle: And then my rising signs of how other people experience me is Capricorn rising.
- 27:58Michelle: And I admit I don't know a ton about that, other than it's come up a lot in us starting this business together, where you were like, I have an idea, we should do something.
- 28:06Michelle: And then by the next week, we were like, here's our paperwork, and I bought the domain.
- 28:11Michelle: And um, so you please tell me because I know your other business partner is also caprising.
- 28:17Michelle: Aries cap rising.
- 28:18Michelle: I mean, get yourself an Aries caprising.
- 28:21Danyelle: I need it on a mug and a t-shirt.
- 28:24Danyelle: Um very specific.
- 28:26Danyelle: It is, and you know, it works.
- 28:30Danyelle: Yeah.
- 28:31Danyelle: Bex talks about Capricorn from this perspective of a steamroller, which I really appreciate because it's not that it's super fast moving, it's not, it's it's kind of like right in the middle, if you think about the speed or the pacing of the earth signs.
- 28:48Danyelle: And in that, it is moving, it's not moving incredibly fast that you can't keep up.
- 28:55Danyelle: But if you're in the way, you're gonna get mowed down.
- 29:00Danyelle: And I appreciate that for Capricorn.
- 29:03Danyelle: In general, earth signs are going to be grounded, they're going to be more directed in the sense of what is happening, what needs to happen.
- 29:11Danyelle: Earth is stability, foundation.
- 29:14Danyelle: And so when you think about that as your first impression, how people see you, you're very much the person who's like, okay, you over there, do this, you over here, do this.
- 29:25Danyelle: Clipboard energy.
- 29:26Michelle: Clipboard energy.
- 29:28Michelle: How is that different from Virgo?
- 29:30Michelle: Because I think of Virgo as like methodical, meticulous, organized.
- 29:35Michelle: I think of them as checklist energy and like the person who you want organized in your closet or like keeping a group on track and organized.
- 29:44Michelle: What was resonating with me as you were talking about Capricorn as an earth sign is like, okay, you have this like fire passion energy that's like ready to initiate something.
- 29:54Michelle: And it feels like maybe Capricorn is what gives that like confidence and is assessing and getting the lay of the land to ensure that, like, yes, I may steamroll you, but I've ensured that this is the right path first.
- 30:07Michelle: Like, I'm actually confident with this.
- 30:09Michelle: And so, yeah.
- 30:10Danyelle: The thing I would say is different for Virgo is if you think about Virgo as the fiery earth sign, there is this go before you think, and there's a little bit more energizer bunny under that energy.
- 30:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 30:28Danyelle: But it's interesting because I think if you were to layer on top cap rising or Aries cap rising with just Virgo energy, there might that Venn diagram might you might find some of that based on that the fire energy combination.
- 30:45Danyelle: Um, but yeah, that's to me, I think of it right.
- 30:48Danyelle: So if Virgo is checkbox energy, the Capricorn is the right hand person with the clipboard making sure those boxes get checked.
- 30:59Michelle: But I feel like what we inadvertently ended up landing on here is like when you said get yourself an Aries Cap Rising, it's interesting because maybe actually not everyone needs that, but someone like you who is self-described a little bit head in the clouds, ideas kind of go with the flow, is going to mesh well, especially in a business perspective, with somebody who's like, let me take that idea and set it on fire and then start to move it forward.
- 31:30Michelle: And that's going to be a great combination.
- 31:32Michelle: I mean, even just the idea for this episode.
- 31:35Michelle: It's like, you know, you're bringing things forward all the time, and then I can support in executing and obviously backed by the trust of our friendship.
- 31:43Michelle: I'm thinking of the person recently at my job who is a cancer son, and you know, softer, definitely more emotions forward.
- 31:55Michelle: But we send each other a lot of memes and reels on Instagram that are that combination of Aries and Cancer.
- 32:01Michelle: And so it's sort of like cancer invites me to soften, and then I have real like big sister mama bear energy around, like, if you hurt this person, I'll cut you, you know.
- 32:13Michelle: But the point being, as we talk about our big three, is like, how do you how do your Venn diagrams overlap the people that you love in your life?
- 32:21Michelle: What brought you like what kind of energy brought you together and or keeps you there?
- 32:27Michelle: And also are there moments where they clash?
- 32:31Danyelle: Absolutely.
- 32:32Danyelle: And I appreciate you naming that because you're right.
- 32:34Danyelle: For me, I do need that initiator energy.
- 32:39Michelle: But maybe you don't actually Oh my God, could you imagine two of me?
- 32:43Michelle: I'd be like, I'm sorry, who's in charge?
- 32:46unknown: Get the fuck out.
- 32:48Michelle: Whoa, that happened.
- 32:49Michelle: I met okay, really quick divergence.
- 32:52Michelle: We talk about this that sometimes you meet your friend's friends and you think, oh, we're going out for Danielle's birthday.
- 33:00Michelle: Her friends are gonna be like her.
- 33:01Michelle: I love Danielle, I'm gonna love her friends as a for instance.
- 33:05Michelle: But often your friends' friends end up being a fun house version of you.
- 33:10Michelle: And so your friends are very similar to me.
- 33:13Michelle: And it's like we all want to make the decision and make the plan, and you know, and and so you can end up kind of clashing when your energy is too matched.
- 33:22Michelle: Um, but also again, as an adult, someone who's gone through therapy who kind of sees that or can see that, it's actually really fun and silly.
- 33:32Michelle: And then if you can overcome those moments of stress, you can be like, oh, we're very similar.
- 33:37Michelle: How do you handle this thing?
- 33:39Michelle: You know, tell tell me what you know.
- 33:42Michelle: Share notes.
- 33:43Michelle: Yeah, share notes, exactly.
- 33:44Michelle: Yeah, I love that.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: I no notes.
- 33:48SPEAKER_02: All the notes.
- 33:50Danyelle: All right.
- 33:51Danyelle: So I feel like we've anchored ourselves in the big three.
- 33:54Danyelle: Yes.
- 33:54Danyelle: I want to anchor us in the three additional planets that I think are very important to relationships.
- 34:00Danyelle: Your Venus, your Mars, and your Mercury.
- 34:03Danyelle: So your Venus is not only the way that you love.
- 34:06Danyelle: I think oftentimes we think about Venus as love and hearts and but it's also your values, your morals, the way that you anchor yourself in and understand the world.
- 34:18Danyelle: Mercury is the throat chakra, it is our communication, it rules the mind, it's very air energy.
- 34:26Danyelle: And then we have Mars, which is aggression, sensuality, how we take action, how we move, passion.
- 34:34Danyelle: Okay.
- 34:35Danyelle: And so would conflict also follow there too?
- 34:38Danyelle: Absolutely.
- 34:39Danyelle: Okay.
- 34:39Danyelle: And Aries ruler is Mars.
- 34:41Danyelle: And so if you just think about again, like how some of these things layer, you don't need to know everything about the planet or the sign to understand what the core is.
- 34:52Danyelle: So if we think about those in terms of platonic love, it's an additional layer that really does support how relationships can feel some tension or feel ease.
- 35:05Michelle: I feel like these three actually are the more interesting ones for friendship and relationships because it's like there's who I am, my own inner core, there's how you view me, and there's how I process emotions.
- 35:20Michelle: But then these three love and values, conflict, anger, passion, and communication.
- 35:29Michelle: That's like kind of the the meat and potatoes of what we're getting into here in season two.
- 35:34Danyelle: It feels like TTT.
- 35:36Danyelle: Yeah.
- 35:37Danyelle: Yeah.
- 35:37Danyelle: We'll have to get TTT's chart at some point.
- 35:41Danyelle: Oh, interesting.
- 35:42Danyelle: Okay, so TTT is Gemini.
- 35:46Danyelle: Um, oh God.
- 35:48Danyelle: Of course it is.
- 35:49Danyelle: That's your fault.
- 35:51Danyelle: Yes, Pastor.
- 35:52Danyelle: Okay, so my my Mars is in Libra.
- 35:56Danyelle: Love this placement.
- 35:58Danyelle: It's one of my favorite placements.
- 36:00Danyelle: I find that my Mars and Libra is another anchor similar to my water placements.
- 36:06Danyelle: Libra is about balancing the scales, compromise.
- 36:10Danyelle: It's very, how can we all get around the table, say what we need to say, and walk away and feel good?
- 36:18Danyelle: In Mars, it's allowing me to the way that I like take charge or take action is constantly looking for that fairness.
- 36:29Danyelle: It can make me move a little bit slow.
- 36:33Danyelle: However, I'm appreciative because of all the fire that I have in my charts.
- 36:37Michelle: Yeah.
- 36:38Michelle: And I think that's interesting in conflicts when you think about justice or balance, that you're being considerate of other points of view, maybe.
- 36:48Michelle: Absolutely.
- 36:48Michelle: Okay.
- 36:49Michelle: Um what's my Mars in?
- 36:51Michelle: Am I Aries?
- 36:53Michelle: Mars and Taurus.
- 36:55Michelle: Okay.
- 36:56Michelle: So this is the part where Danielle tells me about myself.
- 37:02Danyelle: So if we think about Taurus as the most planted earth sign, it is the type of energy that wants a spa day with snacks and food.
- 37:13Danyelle: It's the type of energy that's like, yeah, yeah, yeah, we can do it, but is it gonna feel comfortable?
- 37:18Danyelle: Is it going to feel good in my body?
- 37:22Danyelle: Very, very, very somatic energy of like, this has to be good for me inside, in my in the ways that I move, in the ways that I am navigating in order for me to do it.
- 37:37Danyelle: Mars is action, movement.
- 37:40Danyelle: Definitely.
- 37:41Michelle: Yeah.
- 37:41Michelle: So if it's so it's like it's taking the Aries energy, which is prevalent in my chart, and saying, like, okay, we're not gonna act and move on everything.
- 37:52Michelle: It's gonna have to fall into this Taurus energy, luxuriating energy, and be like mindful in that way and grounded in that way.
- 37:59Michelle: Completely.
- 38:00Danyelle: Okay.
- 38:00Danyelle: And I would say both of us have like both of those placements in each of our charts are really important.
- 38:07Michelle: Yeah.
- 38:07Danyelle: Mine being this kind of like fairness and not moving with my fire, yours being grounded and not moving through the fire.
- 38:16Michelle: Which honestly, I think is really important because as much as we joke that I woke up and chose violence, like if the action, some of my action-oriented signs like rising and Mars are in Earth signs, I think that's part of what brings me down to Earth from the fire chaos.
- 38:34Danyelle: Exactly.
- 38:34Danyelle: Yeah, yes.
- 38:36Danyelle: We'll move on to Venus.
- 38:38Danyelle: So, how we love our volumes, what's important to us.
- 38:43Danyelle: I'm a Scorpio Venus, which is one of my favorite placements.
- 38:48Danyelle: And you are an Aries Venus.
- 38:51Danyelle: And so when I think about Scorpio, Scorpio energy is the only water sign that can't swim.
- 38:59Danyelle: I think it's something to kind of note that there's the crab and the fish and then the scorpion.
- 39:04Danyelle: And I think about Scorpio energy as ruling the swamps.
- 39:10Danyelle: And I think a lot of people are like, what?
- 39:12Danyelle: But for me, swamps are so important.
- 39:15Danyelle: They are vital ecosystems in our environment and they have a whole dynamic energy within themselves that is very different than lakes or an ocean.
- 39:25Danyelle: And so Scorpio energy is going to be the underbelly, it's going to be a little bit of the shadow energy.
- 39:34Danyelle: However, it's depth, it's not on the surface.
- 39:40Danyelle: You got to be committed because you can't really see where you're going.
- 39:43Danyelle: And so I love my Scorpio Venus because I don't sit at the surface.
- 39:51Danyelle: We will be in line in the bathroom, and you know, I will have somebody's life story and seen it before.
- 40:00Danyelle: Yeah.
- 40:01Danyelle: And in friendship, it's this idea that when we're in, we're in.
- 40:06Danyelle: And I want to go deep.
- 40:08Danyelle: I wanna, I wanna be the third parent.
- 40:10Danyelle: I wanna be all of the things that are connected.
- 40:14Danyelle: I'm not staying in this place of arm's length.
- 40:17Danyelle: Yeah.
- 40:18Michelle: Um, I don't know if many of you are like me, but to remember signs, I often pick a person who is that sign, and they become that forever more, that sort of embodiment of it.
- 40:31Michelle: My first kiss was a guy who had a tattoo of a scorpion on his forearm, and he also had a tattoo that said lust on his neck.
- 40:41Michelle: Choices.
- 40:43Michelle: But anyway, I think of it as it's a little feisty, but there is like a soft underbelly, and there's also like passion there, and but also a little bit of like there's a shell.
- 40:55Michelle: Yeah, there's a shell that is not that easy to crack open.
- 40:59Michelle: No, yeah, armor.
- 41:01Michelle: And I don't know if I can put all of this on this sign, but this is my experience was a little bit of like uh flirtatious teasing, even though nothing's gonna happen with it, you know, but like keeping you on your toes a little bit, yeah.
- 41:15Michelle: Mysterious, mysterious.
- 41:17Michelle: Yep.
- 41:18Michelle: So that's my my my embodied Scorpio.
- 41:21Danyelle: And it's still a water sign, it's still a heart led water sign.
- 41:25Danyelle: And I think, yeah, it's something that it gets pushed aside because of that armor.
- 41:30Michelle: That's a bad mystery.
- 41:32Michelle: And then, you know, you already know Venus and Aries, passion, fire, impatience, but really craving like newness and excitement.
- 41:42Michelle: But they're also one of the things we didn't mention yet about Aries, but there is this like loyalty there too.
- 41:49Michelle: I will ride for my people, whether you like it or not.
- 41:54Michelle: So yeah, that's that's there.
- 41:57Danyelle: Yeah.
- 41:57Danyelle: And lastly, we have the Mercury signs.
- 42:00Danyelle: I'm a Sagittarius Mercury, and you are also an Aries.
- 42:07Danyelle: So when we say she woke up and chose silence, this is this is what I mean.
- 42:12Danyelle: So for me, Sagittarius is a little like leaning into jokes as directive conversation.
- 42:23Danyelle: It's a little blunt and direct with the undertone of but like you know, I'm just fucking around, but I'm not.
- 42:31Michelle: Um this is where it's funny because our signs are so complimentary for the most part, but communication is uh a headbutt for us, which is funny because it's not um the way we vibe and communicate, but if it's like uh text messages in particular, shame.
- 42:53Michelle: Yeah, it's the fire coming at the fire in those moments, and uh it's a different language somehow.
- 43:00Danyelle: Absolutely different language that nobody knows.
- 43:03Michelle: No, neither do of us do, clearly.
- 43:07Danyelle: Yeah, I mean, I but it's also it can be because of that like levity that Sagittarius brings, I do feel like my communication, I try to be like that in communication.
- 43:22Danyelle: So um, you know, light, light and dark to both.
- 43:26Michelle: Yeah, no, for sure.
- 43:27Michelle: And I think with my moon, my emotions and Aries, I kind of feel like the emotions can come in hot and fast, but they can also leave just as quickly.
- 43:39Michelle: Like sometimes I just need to like get the thing out or say the thing or move it out, and then we're moving on, you know.
- 43:46Michelle: So for what that's worth.
- 43:48Michelle: Yeah.
- 43:48Michelle: But I want to just repeat this that it's this shared language and it's knowing these things about each other, you often carry the burden in our relationship.
- 44:00Michelle: For knowing because I forget what my placements are and I will forget quickly after this episode.
- 44:05Michelle: This is helping actually.
- 44:06Michelle: But it it is a piece of the puzzle of knowing your friend, knowing your partner, knowing your beloveds that you can bring to the table and say, in a coaching language, I always like to keep bringing it back to is this real?
- 44:20Michelle: What does this mean?
- 44:21Michelle: What am I reading into it?
- 44:22Michelle: And sometimes if you know somebody's communication style, we can be like, I'm gonna make a phone call.
- 44:28Michelle: Um, or let's meet in person, or you know, I know she's a little head in the clouds, maybe this is a different kind of moment, or I know she's a little fiery and this is that coming out.
- 44:39Michelle: And in our relationship, I think that it's another element that allows for grace.
- 44:45Michelle: And that word grace is new for us when you think of the trajectory of a of a quarter century together.
- 44:56Michelle: I think Grace has not always been in the building.
- 44:59Michelle: No, yeah.
- 45:00Michelle: Uh she didn't live in the no, we were fire forward, we were hormones, we were exploration forward, and um, Grace is is new, and this is one of the shared things that we get to like enjoy together, but also that just helps us to better understand each other in those moments when we are so different because when you grow up, and I said this a long time ago, but it's it's worth repeating that you hurt yourself and you assume when somebody else hurts themselves it feels the same.
- 45:31Michelle: And so you can't fathom that when somebody's responding to a situation that they're responding from an entirely different point of view, and it makes you feel it can make you feel crazy.
- 45:44Michelle: You're like, oh, they hate me, they're so angry, they you're making all of these judgments based on how you would behave in the situation, and then with time and shared experience with astrology, with with knowing somebody's trauma, you realize that you are not coming to the situation with the same deck of cards, the same experience, and it just helps you for perspective.
- 46:07Michelle: I think it helps me.
- 46:09Michelle: Absolutely.
- 46:10Danyelle: Yeah, I that's what I love about it.
- 46:13Danyelle: It's just an extension of who you are, and so being able to say, Hey, when we are in conflict, it has to feel good in your body for us to move forward.
- 46:24Danyelle: And I need to really focus on fairness.
- 46:27Danyelle: How do we meet in the middle?
- 46:29Danyelle: What does that look like?
- 46:31Danyelle: How does fairness feel good in your body?
- 46:34Danyelle: And how are we then able to say, good, we got this, let's go?
- 46:39Danyelle: Or we're both communicating in these very fiery ways.
- 46:42Danyelle: We're coming in with fire in our mercury.
- 46:48Danyelle: And so how do we name, yeah, we're not actually gonna text.
- 46:52Michelle: Right, and set ourselves up for success around what works for both of us.
- 46:58Michelle: All right, we're gonna go ahead and pause right here.
- 47:01Michelle: This is one of our longer episodes.
- 47:04Michelle: Next week, make sure to come back for part two where we're gonna get into some of our generational placements and of course what bubbled to the surface for us, as well as our tarot poll.
