- 0:00Constance Lavonice: Last week we talked about understanding as the key to coping well.
- 0:09Constance Lavonice: We understand that we are multidimensional beings.
- 0:14Constance Lavonice: We have a spirit, a soul, which is our mind, will, and emotions, and we live in a physical body and all are interconnected.
- 0:30Constance Lavonice: When we face challenges or manage challenges in our lives, if we make one small positive change in one area, it will produce a positive change in the other areas.
- 0:47Constance Lavonice: For example, Mary, a pseudonym, thinks no one really likes me.
- 0:56Constance Lavonice: And as a result of that thinking, it leads to feelings of loneliness, depression, and sometimes anger.
- 1:08Constance Lavonice: Mary's feelings are going to have an impact in her physical body because every thought creates an emotion.
- 1:22Constance Lavonice: Every thought carries a chemical reaction.
- 1:28Constance Lavonice: Mary, because of her thinking and the emotions she are experiencing, may behave in one of two ways.
- 1:40Constance Lavonice: She may start avoiding people, not accepting invitations, not initiating conversations with others, generally not wanting to be around others.
- 1:54Constance Lavonice: Or she may become reactive when she's around other people.
- 2:01Constance Lavonice: I don't know if you know or met anyone who just seems to be sitting on ready.
- 2:08Constance Lavonice: They're always on a 10 out of zero to ten.
- 2:14Constance Lavonice: Always ready.
- 2:16Constance Lavonice: Mary is behaving the way she believes and allowing herself to be led by her emotions.
- 2:25Constance Lavonice: And that's not a fruitful way to live.
- 2:30Constance Lavonice: So if you find yourself renewing your mind and it's still not working, you're working hard, you're staying up late, you're exercising, you're eating right, and it's also not working, stop and consider starting with the spirit.
- 2:51Constance Lavonice: If you are new here, I want to welcome you and thank you for joining.
- 2:57Constance Lavonice: You are listening to Whole Heart Conversations, a podcast for women that provides biblical encouragement to foster whole heart, spirit, soul, and body resilience.
- 3:13Constance Lavonice: I am your host, Constance Lavonice.
- 3:17Constance Lavonice: The Spirit is the part of us that allows us to commune with God.
- 3:24Constance Lavonice: God will speak to us and guide us through his spirit.
- 3:30Constance Lavonice: God is spirit, and we have the Holy Spirit within us.
- 3:37Constance Lavonice: The same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead resides within us.
- 3:44Constance Lavonice: God moves and works in our spirit as we pray, meditate, worship, and as we read his word, the scripture.
- 3:58Constance Lavonice: King Solomon in Proverbs chapter 4, verses 2 through 22 was speaking to his son, and he tells him to pay attention to his words.
- 4:15Constance Lavonice: Solomon said, Keep them in the midst of your heart, for they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their body.
- 4:28Constance Lavonice: God's word is life and healing.
- 4:33Constance Lavonice: Hebrews chapter 4, verse 12 tells us that the word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword.
- 4:46Constance Lavonice: It penetrates to the division of soul and spirit, joints and marrow.
- 4:54Constance Lavonice: It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
- 5:00Constance Lavonice: God's word, the scripture, is not just an ancient book of wisdom, but it's the living word of God.
- 5:11Constance Lavonice: It not only penetrates the soul, which is the mind, will, and emotions, it penetrates the spirit.
- 5:23Constance Lavonice: The words of God speak specifically to our spirit.
- 5:29Constance Lavonice: As we commune with God through prayer, meditation, worship, and specifically through his word, God will fill us with a fresh anointing that will flow into our soul, which is our mind and emotions, and provide clarity of mind and stability in our emotions.
- 5:58Constance Lavonice: It flows through our bodies, strengthening us and equipping us for every good work that God has already ordained.
- 6:10Constance Lavonice: So if you're trying to make it happen by your own self-will or mental or physical strength and abilities, and you're still struggling, go back to the spirit and allow the spirit to be the catalyst for change.
