Transcript
- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Welcome, welcome, welcome back.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Tina Avis.
- 0:04SPEAKER_00: I'm a transformational coach and emotional intelligence strategist, and I help you to transform and break your toxic toxic patterns in life.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Now, what I am calling on is my bold pathfinders.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: Like, where are you?
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Some of you already here, some of you are joining.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: If you're just joining in, it's not too late to be a bold pathfinder.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: And that comes from when I was younger.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I always like to say be bold.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: And I still want to do that.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: So this is me being bold starting the podcast.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: Now, last week, the episode was about the perfect day visual.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: So I walked you through a visualization.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're here, great.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: If you weren't, it's easy to catch up.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: I have just the episode, and then I have just the visual visual visual see and visualization and have to keep that in there because I still don't know how to edit, which I'm still going to learn on that.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Okay, so bear with me.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: Now, if you did the special day exercise, was it like a mirror?
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Did something reflect you?
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: What reflections did you make?
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Did it make you realize that you're not living the life that you want or that you had to make some changes?
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And then I asked you to come up with like one or two areas in your life where you do think you need to make a change.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: And so, what kind of areas did you come up with?
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: Or did you not do the exercise?
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Did you think about a couple areas to change?
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Did you walk the walk?
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: I know that's a hard part.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: And it's okay if you didn't.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: I'm not here to judge you.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: There are no grades, you're not gonna flunk.
- 1:42SPEAKER_00: This is for you to help you, not to hurt you.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Or maybe you felt frozen or paralyzed or confused.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: These are all normal, natural feelings.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: It's okay.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: And if you did come up with some, what did you come up with?
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Were they simple?
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Because I know on one of my things, I just wanted pancakes in the morning.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And I thought, well, that's strange.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: I can have pancakes in the morning anytime I want.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: So that was a weird thing that came up.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And so I had three major areas that I started to work on.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: The last two are tied together, so that's okay, but they're huge.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: And then I had like the huge epiphany and it just trickled down.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: It was like a ripple effect, and it was just amazing.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: And then for some reason, you know how we look for comfort?
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: So I was looking for comfort, and I know that when you stop a pattern, it's easy to try to look for comfort.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Like I stopped going out for right now because that's not what's good for me right now.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: I know that.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: I just know how I get like I could just go out and party and I don't want to do that.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: I want to keep a clear mind right now, and I don't want anything to go backwards and I don't want to have the old patterns.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, I want to go out and have fun, but I don't want it to wreck the progress that I'm making because I do feel like I'm almost there.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: And like last night, even during some of the visualization that I did to myself and starting to write the podcast script for today, I thought, well, what am I doing?
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: And I pretty much, this is so strange confession.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I closed my book.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: At first, I had looked at my followers, and I've been doing this for almost a month, and I'm not even sure if I have a follower, but I was looking at the downloads and it was in the 50s, so I was like, okay, maybe that's not bad.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: And then I told myself, oh my gosh, no one's listening to me.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: Maybe this isn't good enough.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: I started to doubt myself, and then I was ready to sabotage myself.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: And then I thought, wait, maybe I need to go back and go do those areas.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: And one of them, number one, was my podcast, because that's very important to me.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: And then I had to ask my questions to myself about like what is so important about your podcast?
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: What am I trying to do?
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: I realized part of my podcast.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And I have to keep it in.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Bear with me, I promise myself and you in three weeks.
- 4:21SPEAKER_00: I'm putting a goal of three weeks to get editing and faster if I can.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: And I'm doing this to heal.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: At first, I was thinking my ego was thinking, oh, you're doing this to prove to other people that you can do this.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Like people in my life that said I could never do anything, or maybe they think I'm just gonna do one thing, and that's all I was good at.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: And it's just my own mind.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: Some of it is like criticism that I've heard, but some of it I'm like taking personal and also making assumptions.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: I'm that four agreements book is in my mind all the time.
- 5:01SPEAKER_00: Like I am making assumptions, so I don't need to make assumptions and I don't need to worry, I need to check in with myself.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: So that's what I did last night.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: I was checking in with myself, and then, like I told you, I heard that voice that said, no one wants to listen.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: And then on my other voice, it was like, Okay, keep going.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: You don't want to quit before your miracle because I know in the past when I broke habits that I have quit before the miracle because it got too hard, and I would go backwards, and I don't want to go backwards anymore.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: It's too hard to live the way I've been living.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: I'm 53, I don't want to live that way.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: So I had to get real with myself.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I gave myself a little bit of tough love and a tough talk.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: And why am I doing this?
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, to help other people, which I know that I know some people say that sounds cringy, but I'm also doing it to heal myself.
- 5:59SPEAKER_00: I'm doing it to heal myself.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: And I thought, well, if I'm trying to heal myself, other people must be trying and going through the same thing.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: So I feel like it's my duty to help and share.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: And I don't know if this helps, but if I can help one person, if I can help myself while helping you, I feel like I've done my job.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: I've done my duty.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: I don't want to go back to my soul-sucking job.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: I feel like this is the way this has been nagging at me, not nagging, but calling, like Tina, you can do this.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: And then, of course, there's that other self-doubt.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: No, I'm pushing past the self-doubt.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: I'm being real.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I I don't want to like have a script word for word, like, hi, this is Tina.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: Get it, got it, girl.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: And I started a podcast.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: No, no, I've got some thoughts on my own.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: So I did the bullet bullet points, and that's why this one isn't as tight as usual.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: And speaking of that, for my podcast, I realized that I have to, who am I helping?
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Because I was too big.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: I was like, I'm helping everybody with breaking patterns, toxic patterns in relationships, family dynamics, careers, abuse.
- 7:16SPEAKER_00: And I was like, okay, how can I help everybody with every situation and all of that?
- 7:21SPEAKER_00: So I can't.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: So I needed to what they say, niche down.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: Now, now I said I was like, niche, like I didn't want to do it, but I realized that's what I have to do, and it actually helped to get me more clarity, which actually goes back to some of my other episodes.
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: Everything's tying together, everything.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: And then I'm listening to videos and I hear about the quantum field and the quantum leap.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: And I'm actually things that I was listening to were right where I'm at in the moment in my life.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Like I can't even make this up.
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: It's not like if you go somewhere and somebody tells you something general, like they read your poem, they're like, okay, you're gonna be in love for 15 years, and then you're gonna meet Bob or Jerry or whoever.
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: Bob and Jerry.
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: That's funny.
- 8:10SPEAKER_00: These are alignments that are happening to me.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: So I'm like, I can't ignore that.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: And I know at one point I was frustrated trying to not listen to signs and alignments, but I realized it's not always healthy, but this was a healthy alignment because I can't even make this stuff up.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: Everything I listen to.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: I even listened to an old, old video from Napoleon Hill.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: And everything that I've been working on is things that they suggest he suggests to do, or others suggest.
- 8:43SPEAKER_00: So I feel like I'm on the right path.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: I'm following some signs.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: Now, sometimes, you know, not gonna follow all the signs, but yes, it's very interesting.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: And sorry, I've been rambling, I'm gonna pull it back in.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: I want to have more of a podcast where I can talk freely, but I do have ADHD.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Not diagnosed, but obviously, if anybody listens to me, you would know it.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: If you would even see my notebook, you would know it.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: But yeah, I'm gonna dial it back in and I'm gonna take a short pause and take a couple breaths, and I will return to you.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: And you'll never know I even took a pause, but I had to tell you.
- 9:21SPEAKER_00: One moment, please.
- 9:24SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'm back.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: I took a couple breaths, and that goes with what I've been teaching you.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: I'm teaching you the life lessons that I have learned, and that's why I know I'm on the right path.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: Now we can discuss area two and three.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: They kind of go together.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: One is to clear out the clutter, and the other one is like today, I got up early.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: I usually will sleep in or stay up all night because I can't shut my brain off because I'm so excited and pumped about personal growth and changing, and I'm really excited this time.
- 9:59SPEAKER_00: And so I have to like, okay, time to go to bed.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: I got a little routine, and that's really helping a lot.
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: And sometimes I can't sleep at night, so I'll get back up and then I go back to bed later.
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: But today I actually got up early when my alarm clock went off, which I haven't been able to do for a couple weeks, and I thought it didn't matter, so I just stopped doing it.
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: Well, was I wrong?
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: I got up, I took a shower, I put my makeup on, I did my hair.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: Um, yeah, I feel great.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: And I took off, I went to my storage, so that's where area two and three come together.
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: I got up early enough to go in my storage.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: And let me just tell you a quick little backstory about my storage facility.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: I am a reseller, so I'm on eBay and Poshmark.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: I've been doing it for seven years with some ups and downs, and now it's out of hand.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: And I'm realizing there's a common denominator in almost all of the issues I have.
- 11:04SPEAKER_00: So one by one, I am starting to declutter things.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: So, for example, today I went to the storage for two hours before and went through about six boxes.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: I have probably 12 boxes of stuff that I have not put up for sale yet.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: And so I took two boxes worth and I'm bringing them to my mother's house to list them and put them for sale.
- 11:33SPEAKER_00: And I'm trying so hard to get a job.
- 11:35SPEAKER_00: I have been applying at jobs for 140 days.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's the economy, I don't know if it's my age, I don't know if it's a career change.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: And then I thought, well, I don't know.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: It could be my podcast, even because I'm on LinkedIn and I put that I quit my soul-sucking job.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: So that could be part of it.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: So that's almost like a barrier, but it's actually feels like protection for me.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: It's almost like banning myself from working there, which is, you know, I did that for myself.
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: Even when times get tough, I get tempted, but I can't.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: I cannot go against myself anymore.
- 12:15SPEAKER_00: I refuse.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: I'm not going backwards for anything that's unhealthy or toxic in my life.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: And that is part of the movement behind this.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: And you can hear I'm starting to choke up because I I'm very passionate and very serious about this this time.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: And just to know that I'm 52, I could live 20, 30 years.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: I have time.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: Just start, just start now, and that's what I'm doing.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: And hopefully, this is sharing.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: This sharing is helping you.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: I I just I don't know, that might be partially ego, so and that's okay.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: I guess we all can admit we have an ego.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: I have an ego.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: There, I'm Tina.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: I'm a transformational coach, intelligence specialist, strategist, and I have an ego.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: So I did listen to a book the other night and a podcast from Mel Robbins, and it was about the psychology of money.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: I probably listened to about 25 minutes of the episode, and I had great clarity.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: Like poof.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: It was almost like a dam opened.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: But I have clutter everywhere.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: I hold on to things, and so I kind of thought about it.
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: Like I feel like that's my comfort too.
- 13:30SPEAKER_00: That was a way to cope.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: I have like four to five hundred books.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: I can barely read books anymore because my vision is getting bad.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: So I do choose audiobooks.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: And uh yeah, I I so I went in the storage.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: This is funny too.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: I haven't sold any books.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: A lot of them, it used to be worth money to make it on Amazon, but now people will sell books so cheap, like for five bucks on Amazon or when you sorry, Amazon, but for five bucks it got cheaper, and you can get a book cheap.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: And I get all mine on audiobooks, and that's so much easier for me.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: But I even had like tons of different topics, topics for my ex-boyfriend.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: I'm like, I don't need these.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: So my job in the next year, and hopefully by the end of this year, is to get my clutter down like 50%.
- 14:24SPEAKER_00: Like I want to just cut it in half of what I need, what I don't need, what I can sell, what I can donate.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: So whatever I can sell by the end of this year, and I'm making a deadline.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: So that's my small step.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: And that's, you know, obviously I'm rambling.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: However, I did get there.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: So everything is coming together in its own way, and it's coming from all different directions.
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: So just think about that for a minute.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, what if you are working on all your things or some of your things that you need to get done or that will make your life better?
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: It's like it's trying to lose weight.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: You work out, you work out, you don't see any difference in your body, but somebody else might say, Wow, what's what have you been doing?
- 15:15SPEAKER_00: You can't see it from the outside, but it's happening.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: And I know, oh, I understand the pain of going days and days on end and thinking nothing's working.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: I can't see any results.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: And then I just pause for a minute.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: I redirect myself, I take a breath, and I I never believed in breath work before, but boy, I'm telling you, I believe in it.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: It's been really helping me because you can tell I'm anxious, I talk fast with ADHD, non-diagnosed ADHD.
- 15:53SPEAKER_00: Really kind of settle in there.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: So area two is basically just getting up earlier.
- 16:00SPEAKER_00: I have a tendency when things are not going, or when I cannot see them building, or I can't see the results of laying down for a day or two and just laying there, doing nothing.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: And when I say nothing, sometimes I can't even do nothing.
- 16:16SPEAKER_00: And then I realize doing nothing sometimes is needed.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: You have to rest when you're weary.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: But to rest when you know you're just like giving up, like giving up hope, thinking self-doubt, things in your mind, and in future episodes, I'd like to talk more about the way we talk to ourselves and the way we talk to other people.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: But that would be another episode.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: What kind of takeaways did you get if you did the exercise or even listening to this podcast?
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: Has something I said sparked something in you or lit a fire, or just I don't know.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: I just know that for me it's like a whole damn lifted.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: I can see not being organized is my major problem.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: And that's what I'm going to work on.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: So my first thing is my podcast.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Obviously, that is very important to me, but getting organized is going to help my podcast.
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: It's going to help the things I dreamt about during the special day exercise.
- 17:29SPEAKER_00: And also listening to the book on money, that's great because I've always been if I have money, spend it.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: And now I got a couple charge cards, and I'm like, oh, let's just charge because I don't have to pay yet.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: And I don't want to be like that.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: I don't want to be irresponsible.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: I've just kind of cleared my finances so that I can have a clean slate, and I don't want to break the pattern.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, I do want to break the pattern.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: And once again, I am promising myself and my audience that I will work on the editing.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: And that's another thing.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Like, you have to give yourself permission.
- 18:09SPEAKER_00: You do not have to wait for someone to tell be tell you.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, yes, it's okay to ask your friend, like, what do you think about this guy?
- 18:16SPEAKER_00: Or should I do a podcast or this or that?
- 18:19SPEAKER_00: But you do not need someone's approval.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: Ask yourself, put your hand on your heart and just say, What do I want?
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: And then I come up with like an example.
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: Do you want happiness?
- 18:34SPEAKER_00: What am I searching for?
- 18:36SPEAKER_00: What is the truth?
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: What is my own truth?
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: And that's going to be another episode.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: I have come up with so many feelings the last couple days and emotions and takeaways.
- 18:50SPEAKER_00: And I'm hoping that you get some takeaways.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: Feel free to email me.
- 18:53SPEAKER_00: I will share them with other people if you want.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: I can start doing episodes where I might call out your name, tell where you're from, or whatever you're comfortable with, and just tell what helped.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I would love to hear if this is helping you.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: And if it is, please follow me.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: And then also if you could just share an episode or rate rate the episode, that would be great.
- 19:18SPEAKER_00: So this week, just try to, you know, make a plan for what you're going to do or what you're going to work on to get to the spot where you want to be in a year.
- 19:27SPEAKER_00: And right before I go, there was one thing that was interesting that came up.
- 19:31SPEAKER_00: And I think I touched on it, but I forgot.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: It was the comfort thing.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: So I realized at the store I was shopping, and everything that was soft was so comfortable.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: And I came up with a new winter for this season episode, not episode, but for this season, something I'm going to do for myself.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: And it does have to do with my future because one of my visions was waking up in my new apartment, which I don't have yet, but it's coming.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: I already have it, but it's not in play yet.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: And where what was I surrounded by?
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: And it was like comfortable blankets and pillows and cozy little throw blankets and maybe some rugs.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: And then I went to the store and I'm like, okay.
- 20:13SPEAKER_00: So I envisioned it.
- 20:14SPEAKER_00: So for this winter, I will be buying things that comfort me.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: I will not be dressing to impress.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: I'll be dressing for my comfort, not slobby or anything.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah, sure.
- 20:25SPEAKER_00: Some days I'm probably going to be really slobby.
- 20:29SPEAKER_00: And but no, I just mean like I want some nice, like, there's a sweatshirt dress that's beautiful, and then I want to put some leggings underneath it.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: Then there was a warm, cozy, like winter coat.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: So soft and fluffy.
- 20:44SPEAKER_00: I want to get that.
- 20:46SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna wrap myself in different kinds of comfort.
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: I'm not going to seek comfort from anybody else, any substance, any career.
- 20:56SPEAKER_00: I'm going to seek it for myself.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: All right, this is get it, got it, girl.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Thank you, and have a great week.
