  memorialize memorialize Krista Bauer Gilly, who police say died

  at the hands of her husband at a vigil Tuesday, family members

  from both sides of her marriage descend on a courtroom to see

  her husband go before a judge. The 38 year old woman, a mother
• 8:50
  of two and a Memorial Hermann physical therapist, died October
• 8:55
  7th, 2024. Authorities arrested and charged

  her husband, Lee Mongerson Gilly.

  There is Mr. Gilly right there in connection with her death.
• 9:09
  She was 9 weeks pregnant at the time of her death, according to
• 9:14
  court records. Candlelight vigil is scheduled
• 9:17
  for 7:00 PM in Marion Park, about a mile from where the
• 9:21
  couple lived. Halloween decorations adorned
• 9:24
  the couple's Austin Street home on Monday afternoon.
• 9:27
  The accused husband sat in a jury box for nearly an hour
• 9:30
  earlier that morning, at times mouthing words to Gilly's
• 9:33
  parents before lawyers on both sides addressed his capital
• 9:37
  murder charge. Prosecutors are counting her
• 9:40
  fetus as a second fatality in the case.
• 9:43
  His parents sat on the opposite side of the courtroom.
• 9:46
  His hired attorneys, who declined to discuss the case,
• 9:49
  waived the prosecutor's reading of his probable cause in court.

  So no, no hearing for probable cause.

  Earlier court records alleged Gilly called 911 on October 7th

  saying his wife had taken her own life through a drug

  overdose. That was his initial story.

  She she had had enough of existence on this mortal coil

  and decided to overdose herself with drugs.

  He went to bed and woke up to find her in that condition,

  The article declared her death a homicide caused by compression

  of the neck. And you guys know that I've had

  on the program Brian Bennett multiple times, a strangulation

  expert in South Carolina. He actually sent me a text when

  he saw that I was covering this case because Krista, she went to
• 12:21
  Clemson in South Carolina. So I don't know if she was from
• 12:23
  there or if she just went to college there.
• 12:27
  But South Carolina still doesn't have an anti strangulation law.
• 12:31
  And, and Brian wondered if she had been a victim of
• 12:35
  strangulation before. Because as we have learned from
• 12:38
  him, you are 800% more likely to be a victim of homicide if you
• 12:44
  are a victim, survivor of strangulation in the past.
• 12:47
  So it makes me wonder and it made Brian wonder and I'm glad
• 12:50
  that he reached out. OK.

  He later told police she was not into self harm or, or
• 12:59
  contemplating self harm. YouTube makes me use these kinds

  of words. Or a drug user.

  And that the two had argued earlier that night.

  label and the second story seems to have a little more truth to

  it. The couple's two children were

  home at the time, according to court records.

  The children are staying with family members, official said.

  spoke at length with the wife's family after they observed the
• 13:36
  brief court appearance. Their family in mourning.

  She said they've just undergone something extremely traumatic
• 13:43
  and serious with the lost their daughter, a sister and a mother.

  In a statement, the family said Krista Gilley was, quote,
• 13:50
  excited to welcome her third child.

  They were taken from this world needlessly and way too early.

  The statement provided by their lawyer read So, So that's that.

  charged with capital murder in connection with her death.

  stayed off the park premises, that attendees were wearing

  purple in honor of DV awareness. Let's see.

  As a result of DV in firearms, pregnant women in the United

  States are more likely to die from homicide than from birth

  related issues, a Harvard Harvard study found.

  And that is a sad, sad statistic.

  and that she also did a lot of loving herself.

  And so many people showed up in support of her and her family,

  said Hannah White, a lead pastor at the Village Heights Church,

  continuing the quote. I think it was very indicative

  of who we are as a community here in the Heights, that we
• 16:30
  know how to be good neighbors and that when tragedy strikes,

  we're all affected and we're all in it together to support.

  The White didn't know Gilly personally, she said.

  Others described her as someone who had a big heart and knew how
• 16:44
  to be kind in every situation. Quote.

  We know that it's what she would have done if the situation was
• 16:51
  different, that it's what she would have done for our kids,

  White said. So it's what we wanted to do for

  hers. In addition to her work at

  Memorial Hermann as a physical therapist, Gilly was a cardio

  pulmonary faculty member with the University of Texas Medical

  Branch. Several of her students attended

  the vigil. So this is this is not only just

  this is not a a beautiful mother.

  This is an accomplished woman, someone who is a, a, a net gain,

  a positive member of of our society and their community.

  Harris County prosecutors revealed Thursday as Lee

  argument before going their separate ways at their Heights

  autopsy showing Gilly, who is at least 8 weeks pregnant. 9 weeks

  is what I heard had rib fracture injuries consistent with chest

  compressions. She continued to say that

  officials found other worrisome trauma to her neck and face that
• 22:58
  likely had nothing to do with attempts to save her.

  OK, so he was smart enough to go well, I probably should do chest
• 23:06
  compressions. So it looks like I tried to save

  her here. Court records show Gilly had
• 23:12
  discolored skin, facial swelling, hemorrhaging and other
• 23:15
  bone fractures consistent with strangulation.

  Her father appeared. Oh, this is, this is probably
• 23:22
  the the understatement of the century.

  Her father appeared distraught in the courtroom as he heard
• 23:28
  bondurant's account of her injuries.

  The husband who told authorities he did not know how his wife got

  her injuries, initially appeared in court Monday, but his case
• 23:39
  was postponed to assess bail. He returned to court, scanning
• 23:43
  the gallery for familiar faces. His lawyer whispered to him that
• 23:47
  his parents had since left the courtroom.

  Bondurant described the results of an autopsy while urging a
• 23:53
  judge to set a high bond amount for Lee Mongerson Gilly her

  offer. Her office earlier took steps to

  hold a hearing to deny bail in the husband's case, a proceeding
• 24:04
  that Wood Forest prosecutors to reveal evidence in open court.

  Prosecutors instead asked for $3,000,000 rather than going

  forward with a hearing. Interesting, OK?

  His defense attorneys asked for 200,000, but the judge ordered

  him held on $1,000,000 bail, $1,000,000 bail.

  take a plane and fly down to Half Moon Bay.

  And that's what we did. We drove down to Sacramento

  Bridge tunnel left went down the coast as the sun was setting on

  the plane went and got grabbed a pizza and we had brought some

  some some bubbly non alcoholic liquid to drink whatever it was

  apple cider or something I don't know.

  And we walked out into the Marina, sat down on a on the

  docks, put our feet in the Bay and ate pizza and drank bubbly

  sugary drink. And then we did the reverse.

  We we flew N back over the Bay up into Sacramento and landed.

  Now turns out I didn't know this like she was a champ.

  I I thought I thought it was the best date in the history of

  ever. But it turns out that my fair

  now wife of 26 1/2 years gets very motion sick.

  She was not doing well that day. Plus, she had it in her mind

  that this was a Pretty Woman moment where we were going to

  get into like a Learjet or a Citation or some crazy awesome

  jet and be flowned down in this jet.

  And really what we were in was like a 1950s Cessna 182

  fastback. She calls it a Volkswagen with

  wings. So it turns out it wasn't as

  impressive as I thought it was going to be.

  Nevertheless, we continued our brief and romantic courtship and

  tied the knot that November. From the moment I saw her in

  that church foyer to the moment I saw her across the altar

  becoming my wife was about 5 months.

  And I hope that doesn't happen. Richard Novak, an attorney on

  Robinson's defense team, argued that the prosecution violated a

  gag order by discussing an ATF report regarding a Ballistics

  test with national media, including an appearance on Fox

  and Friends. State Attorney Ryan McBride

  countered, arguing the defense mischaracterized the report and

  LED the media to believe and misreport that the bullet that
• 1:09:39
  killed Charlie Kirk did not come from the weapon found on the

  scene. Quote, in this case, there was a

  tidal wave of media that mischaracterized the evidence,

  that misrepresented the evidence that misled the potential jury

  pool of what the evidence was, argued McBride.

  McBride said that the prosecution team had a duty to

  correct the mischaracterization, which could taint the jury pool

  as many out media outlets reported that the report may
