- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities CE OS and even royalty Adam Cox, these
- 0:21recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's world
- 0:24famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:42hypnosis session all about drinking moderately while on
- 0:46holiday. And I was working with a client
- 0:49that had dramatically reduced their wine consumption to a
- 0:52level that they were very proud of, but they were worried about
- 0:57an upcoming holiday to Rome. And they thought because they
- 1:00like drinking wine with good food, that it would be either
- 1:05something where they would be depriving themselves and wanting
- 1:08to drink the feeling that they couldn't, or having the
- 1:11temptation to drink to excess, which they also didn't.
- 1:14So this is about moderate based on their definition.
- 1:18And their definition was one or two glasses of wine with a meal.
- 1:23And for them, they would prefer an evening meal.
- 1:27But it uses multile levels of disassociation and nested loos
- 1:31to get them into that point of thinking about what it would
- 1:34actually be like to do that. To actually feel that they're
- 1:38not depriving themselves or having too much.
- 1:41And that there's various metaphors here, like being in
- 1:44the the lane of a motorway that if you drift off either side,
- 1:49you can just kind of correct yourself.
- 1:51But also to feel that even if they did have excess, that would
- 1:56just feel like they're stealing tomorrow's moderation and
- 2:00framing it that way means, well, why would I do that?
- 2:04Because they actually end up having a worse day the following
- 2:07day, which for them would be true.
- 2:10So there's a bit going on here. And I think who would benefit
- 2:13most is not those people that want to quit drinking, but want
- 2:17to have a better relationship with alcohol and feel that they
- 2:21can navigate either holidays. And this would also apply not to
- 2:26physical vacation type of holidays, but even festive
- 2:30periods. A lot of people feel this way
- 2:32over the festive, the Christmas season because again, it feels
- 2:36like all bets are off. All rules are different and a
- 2:39lot of people drink to excess over that period.
- 2:41So if you feel like that's you, and you want to drink moderately
- 2:44during a vacation, a holiday, or the festive season, then you
- 2:50might benefit from this session. If you want something more
- 2:52customized, or if you want to access any of my free resources
- 2:55like a free course or anything else, check the link in the
- 2:59description and you will see the ability to either schedule a
- 3:03free consultation with me or download some free stuff,
- 3:07whichever feels more desirable for you, or do it all.
- 3:11For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:13won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:49Take a deep breath in, breathing in relaxation and exhaling
- 3:58tension. As you breathe in, breathe in
- 4:03slightly deeper than normal. And as you exhale, just allow
- 4:11that breath to feel like you're releasing any tension, any
- 4:16stress, any worries, feeling like each breath takes you
- 4:24deeper and more relaxed than before.
- 4:29And just focus your attention on a tiny dot that you can imagine
- 4:34is there in your forehead. And as you focus your attention
- 4:39on that dot, I want to temporarily increase the
- 4:45tension. Your eyes are looking up at that
- 4:50dot. You might notice any tension in
- 4:53your forehead. Breathe in, focus on that point.
- 4:59But as you exhale, just release all the muscles in your eyelids,
- 5:06there, there on your forehead, just release it all.
- 5:11Allow that relaxation to drift down into your cheeks and jaw.
- 5:19And as you breathe, just allow your body to do the breathing
- 5:22for you. Well, you don't have to force it
- 5:26at all. Just allow your body to help you
- 5:32breathe, breathing in deep, exhaling for longer as you
- 5:40awaken those muscles in your diaphragm, not just the chest
- 5:46doing the breathing, but the diaphragm too, so you can
- 5:50breathe in more and exhale for longer.
- 5:54Releasing any of those old ideas that aren't serving you anymore.
- 6:02Because for many years you had a belief that you needed to drink,
- 6:08you needed that glass of wine. It was really helping.
- 6:14But now you realize that many of those thoughts and ideas and
- 6:18beliefs were just narratives that were never true.
- 6:24So every outward breath just released more of similar things,
- 6:30out of date ideas, old cravings, perceptions.
- 6:40I want you to get a feeling then you have full permission to feel
- 6:47proud of all of the progress you've already made.
- 6:54I want you to congratulate yourself and all those subtle
- 7:02changes that have compounded, evolved to get you to this
- 7:08point. The point where you can feel
- 7:12that you can take it or leave it when it comes to a glass of
- 7:20wine. And maybe you have an explicit
- 7:26or implicit criteria of what it would take to feel like you do
- 7:33want it. And maybe that would be a meal
- 7:40at a nice restaurant or celebrating something specific.
- 7:47But I want you to set an intention now as to how you get
- 7:52to do both to enjoy a nice meal and to celebrate something
- 8:00without crossing the line from moderation to excess.
- 8:08That's it. Think of what that is for you.
- 8:10Or maybe that's 2 standard glasses of wine.
- 8:22And beyond that becomes excess. And you might know that it
- 8:27becomes excess because your body warns you, reminds you, tells
- 8:36you. Nope, that's too much.
- 8:42The deeper you breathe, the more relaxed you feel.
- 8:45The more relaxed you feel, the deeper you breathe.
- 8:48As your physical body relaxes, your imagination awakens.
- 8:54And I want you to imagine drifting through space and time
- 9:00and finding yourself in the centre of the Colosseum in Rome.
- 9:10And let's just imagine that there are no tourists there that
- 9:13day. Blue skies above, autumn sun
- 9:23shining on your skin and you have the whole Colosseum for
- 9:28you. And I want you to get a feeling
- 9:33of being in the centre, looking around, seeing those impressive
- 9:46stone shaped structures, you in the centre of this incredible
- 9:56stadium of the past. And here in this place, I want
- 10:03you to make a distinction between choice and obligation,
- 10:12of choosing to do something and having to do something.
- 10:17And I want you to think back to the old gladiators there in that
- 10:24Coliseum, many of which were slaves.
- 10:32They didn't want to be there. They had to be there.
- 10:37And just think of all of that stress, coercion, threats, all
- 10:45of that heavy energy. And I want you to feel that when
- 10:52something has to be a certain way, it can feel like that, that
- 10:58there is no choice. Whereas the spectators looking
- 11:04from the stands above, they could choose to sit there or
- 11:08they could choose to leave. It was their choice.
- 11:15And I want you to feel that isn't it an easy decision to
- 11:20make, given the choice of being the slave, forced into a
- 11:28situation on the spectator, choosing whether to watch or
- 11:32not? But it's better to have freedom
- 11:36than coercion. And I want you to think back to
- 11:42a time when you felt that you had to have that bottle of wine,
- 11:51even if it was just in the same house.
- 11:55Maybe you felt sometimes that you needed that glass of wine.
- 11:59And I want you to get a feeling that that isn't freedom.
- 12:06Many people describe breaking a habit or an addiction as feeling
- 12:11liberated. And I want you to feel that
- 12:15there was a time when you felt that way, but now you feel
- 12:23completely free. You can choose no obligation, no
- 12:33having to, no needing to. You can choose to if you want
- 12:40to. I don't want you to imagine what
- 12:44it would feel like to float up out of the centre of that
- 12:50Coliseum and fly over Rome to the city of the Vatican.
- 12:58I want you to imagine seeing that impressive cathedral
- 13:08floating down to Saint Peter's Square and just imagine you have
- 13:14the whole of the Vatican to yourself.
- 13:15Just imagine walking into the cathedral, finding yourself in
- 13:24the Sistine Chapel and looking up at that incredible art, and
- 13:34maybe you can picture the two fingers almost touching.
- 13:42And I want you to come to an evaluation.
- 13:50That's how far away you are from this healthy future that you
- 13:55desire. Some people never make it this
- 14:00close, but you're there touching distance from really becoming
- 14:08this healthy version of you. Even just two months ago, it was
- 14:16much further away than what it is now, but now it feels that
- 14:21close, and all it takes is to continue the journey that you're
- 14:31already on. So as you stare up at the
- 14:38ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, I want you to imagine how you
- 14:43would want things to be your relationship with alcohol in
- 14:49Rome for those 10 days. Avoiding both extremities.
- 14:59Deprivation might mean not drinking anything or not having
- 15:07a drink with that evening meal, and excess might be more than
- 15:13two glasses. Waking up with hangovers,
- 15:17feeling it in the head and the stomach.
- 15:21But as you stare into the ceiling, I want you to imagine
- 15:23what it would be like to enjoy those 10 days with just the
- 15:29occasional glass or two. With a meal, any meal.
- 15:37But maybe you decide that the evening meal would feel more
- 15:41enjoyable than a lunchtime meal. And just imagine different
- 15:49places. Maybe inside a restaurant, maybe
- 15:55outside table and chairs looking out at a Piazza.
- 16:03But I want you to observe yourself where it's exactly as
- 16:09you would want it to be. Moderation.
- 16:16No deprivation and no excess. Exactly the right relationship
- 16:25with alcohol for you. And I want you to imagine that
- 16:38moderation is like driving a car in the middle of your lane.
- 16:47Intuitively, if you're driving in a lane, you find yourself
- 16:53coasting outside of your lane, it's no big deal and you just
- 17:00steer it back in your lane. So if it if it ever feels like
- 17:05deprivation, then you can steer it a bit more in the middle.
- 17:12And if it ever feels a bit like excess, steer it the other
- 17:18direction. Because you are in control here,
- 17:31you decide what the relationship is.
- 17:35You just imagine seeing yourself in a particular restaurant
- 17:42enjoying a meal, see yourself ordering maybe one glass but not
- 17:48sure whether to have the second. You just step into that version
- 17:55of you and feel what it would feel like to feel empowered to
- 18:01enjoy, but feel no desire to drink to excess.
- 18:10And you know that if you did, all you're doing is robbing
- 18:14Peter to pay porn. You would be taking tomorrow's
- 18:20moderation to create excess for today.
- 18:25And that's a bad choice. I want you to feel that the way
- 18:33that you maximize your enjoyment across all the days is not
- 18:38deprivation and not excess, but moderation.
- 18:43Getting it just right. And if it feels like you know
- 18:47exactly what that would be like, let me know by nodding your
- 18:51head. And I want you to feel that you
- 18:58don't normally eat at a restaurant every evening, so
- 19:05this is training your brain to be moderate whenever you eat
- 19:11out. A glass or two with a nice meal
- 19:16is moderation, and you might be having more meals because it's a
- 19:21holiday, but when you return you will feel that you will take
- 19:28that type of moderation linked to that context.
- 19:34So when you return, there's no desire to drink every day, but
- 19:39only when you go out for that nice meal or special occasion
- 19:44will you feel that it's moderate to have a glass or two of wine.
- 19:51And that's more than enough. I want you to feel that you are
- 19:56training your brain to have a moderate desire and no more.
- 20:06And then imagine what it would feel like on your final day
- 20:12flying back home. Imagine you're on the flight or
- 20:18maybe in the departure lounge, smiling because you're proud of
- 20:22yourself. You feel.
- 20:25Then you got it just right, not depriving yourself and not
- 20:34drinking to excess, but just the right amount.
- 20:39And then imagine landing and just imagine that next day
- 20:47returning back to your home, picking up the dogs, feeling
- 20:54like you're returning to a normal schedule, normal
- 20:58routines. You're bringing that moderation
- 21:02with you. There's no desire to even think
- 21:09about drink. Your desire is to get some
- 21:15delicious vegetables, some good quality natural foods, to have
- 21:23every ingredient you need for a delicious healthy meal.
- 21:31And I want you to imagine returning, opening up the door
- 21:35to your home, walking inside, feeling that you have trained at
- 21:43altitude because if you can avoid drinking to excess on
- 21:48holiday, then you have absolute certainty that you can do it in
- 21:55normality. And as you enter the home, I
- 22:00want you to imagine seeing something that relates to
- 22:05swimming and to feel that you can build on this foundation of
- 22:10pride, this momentum of health to unleash your desire to swim.
- 22:20And whenever you swim, you're going to feel energized,
- 22:24galvanized, feeling like you have awakened this healthy,
- 22:31reinvigorated, vitalized version of you.
- 22:36And if you feel that this holiday becomes the end of 1
- 22:47chapter in the beginning of a new chapter, and that new
- 22:51chapter is healthier than the one before, let me know by
- 22:54nodding your head. That's it.
- 22:59And so it becomes. I want you to imagine finding
- 23:07yourself all the way back there in the Sistine Chapel, staring
- 23:12up at a ceiling, feeling that you were lost in a wonderful
- 23:16Daydream. Imagine leaving the cathedral
- 23:20and floating all the way back to the centre of the Coliseum.
- 23:27But I want you to feel free, liberated and empowered.
- 23:33And then imagine floating all the way back to your present,
- 23:37realizing that this it's been a wonderful journey in your
- 23:41imagination of thoughts within thoughts, ideas within ideas,
- 23:49and dreams within dreams. But now it's time to return back
- 23:53to the here and the now. So take a deep breath in through
- 23:56your nose and down through your nose.
- 24:01Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 24:03Connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I now count
- 24:09from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 24:14Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 24:24Open your eyes. Open your eyes 910.
