- 1:35Speaker 3: whether you should speak up about the debt a sibling

- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah, I did this last week and I said I
- 1:54Speaker 3: didn't want to talk about it last week.
- 1:55Speaker 4: I do so at least I'm consistent. Consistence.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Here's Keith absolutely, how you back anything fun?
- 2:02Speaker 4: It's been five days.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Whole day in June thirty and you're July thirty and
- 2:07Speaker 3: July thirty your July seven, nine and nine class.
- 2:12Speaker 5: I love the confidence.
- 2:13Speaker 3: I always remember Just's birthday because nine nine from Brooklyn ninety.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Nine, ninety nine. It was joke.
- 2:21Speaker 3: If you get any don't you really like it?
- 2:26Speaker 5: I don't.
- 2:27Speaker 4: I tried it. I didn't. I didn't. I'm shocked annoying
- 2:31Speaker 4: for the reason.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Are you sure you were watching the same Brooklyn nine nine,
- 2:34Speaker 3: because I just feel like you would be into Brooklyn
- 2:36Speaker 3: nine nine. I'm very disappointed in this news.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Is Terry Crews Cris.
- 2:40Speaker 5: I love Terry.
- 2:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I do like Joy Cruise.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I couldn't.
- 2:45Speaker 4: I couldn't go Bad Fields.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Sometimes I just get bad feels from shows Mash bad feels.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Malcolm in the Middle bad feels.
- 2:51Speaker 4: I don't like Malcolm in.
- 2:52Speaker 5: I loved Malcolm. I remember what's his name, Frankie Munit's
- 2:55Speaker 5: on I'm a celebrity. He was brilliant.
- 2:57Speaker 7: Oh was he on?
- 2:58Speaker 5: There? He was on Australian and I'm a celebrity.
- 2:59Speaker 4: It was so Australian. I'm a slippery even Australian get out.
- 3:03Speaker 5: I don't know why, but he was. He was really anyway,
- 3:07Speaker 5: Oh my god, I'm a track.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Sorry, So back one nine nine good? Apparently Malcolm in
- 3:12Speaker 3: the Middle bad. Would you guys like a five star review?
- 3:14Speaker 5: Yes?
- 3:15Speaker 4: Please?
- 3:15Speaker 3: I'm glad you asked, because I was going to give
- 3:17Speaker 3: it to you anyway, honestly. So this last week it
- 3:20Speaker 3: was from a girl called Jess. This week it is
- 3:22Speaker 3: also from a girl called Jess. Different Jess, I did
- 3:27Speaker 3: you wouldn't put it past you so five star.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Love you.
- 3:31Speaker 3: She's on the money, girlies. I love She's on the Money.
- 3:34Speaker 3: The podcast has changed my life for the better. When
- 3:36Speaker 3: I started listening at the very beginning of the show,
- 3:39Speaker 3: I was in twenty K of personal debt in my
- 3:41Speaker 3: early twenties. I got out of debt, got my finances
- 3:45Speaker 3: and insurances sorted, which is lucky because I got sick
- 3:47Speaker 3: and needed my income protection insurance. Now I'm well again,
- 3:50Speaker 3: I'm back at work. I have been investing for five
- 3:53Speaker 3: years and I just moved into my first home.
- 3:55Speaker 4: I bought all on my own.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I would not be here without everything I've learned from
- 3:59Speaker 3: VD and I love what Jess and Beck bring to
- 4:01Speaker 3: the show and the vibes all around. Keep doing your
- 4:04Speaker 3: amazing work. Are you joking?
- 4:06Speaker 4: You dead?
- 4:06Speaker 3: And then you've got personal insurance all sorted, no doubt
- 4:09Speaker 3: through Phil Thompson, and then you got to claim on it.
- 4:12Speaker 3: I mean, that's not good. But I'm glad you're well
- 4:14Speaker 3: again through that process and.
- 4:18Speaker 6: Well done, and thank you so much. It is such
- 4:20Speaker 6: a kind review. I mean, you guys are the best
- 4:22Speaker 6: part of the show.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Like I'm I'm not I'm not the personality higher that's true.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Who's the finance higher? That makes sense?
- 4:33Speaker 3: And you can't buy me because I started it.
- 4:37Speaker 4: I love it.
- 4:37Speaker 3: But one of my other favorite things about this show
- 4:40Speaker 3: is our community and Jess. Every single week you look
- 4:43Speaker 3: at our money, wins and confessions and then bring the
- 4:45Speaker 3: top I think five or six to the show.
- 4:47Speaker 4: What have you got? Alrighty?
- 4:49Speaker 5: Firstly this week from Kate, she said she had to
- 4:50Speaker 5: call a plumber for blocked drains.
- 4:53Speaker 4: But he's so adult ill, yeah, family of that stuff.
- 4:56Speaker 5: But the plumber asked her to show the magnet that
- 4:58Speaker 5: she saw his company, and I'm on, I'm missuming maybe
- 5:00Speaker 5: it was a letterbox drop and he gave her a
- 5:02Speaker 5: seventy nine dollars discount but apparently was available on that magnet.
- 5:06Speaker 4: Keep the magnets. I always throw those out me too.
- 5:08Speaker 5: Apparently it could work in your favor. And then he
- 5:11Speaker 5: said if she gave them a five so review, she'd
- 5:12Speaker 5: get twenty bucks cash back, which I think is iconic
- 5:15Speaker 5: from the plumber. I think that's very clever.
- 5:18Speaker 4: I don't give cash back for my reviews.
- 5:21Speaker 5: No, poor busals wrong. It feels like buying them. But
- 5:25Speaker 5: also I respect the hustle. It makes I've got money
- 5:27Speaker 5: in from Claudia, who said as an experiment, her and
- 5:30Speaker 5: her husband have been saving any cash that they get
- 5:32Speaker 5: from unexpected Avenue since the start of the year. Turns
- 5:35Speaker 5: out they've made four hundred dollars just from selling items
- 5:38Speaker 5: on marketplace trading in their bottles for loose change in
- 5:42Speaker 5: just six months. She said, Normally that cash would just
- 5:44Speaker 5: disappear and end up being split between us, but instead
- 5:47Speaker 5: we've decided to spend it on something fun while they're
- 5:49Speaker 5: on holiday. Is a little bits that up next, I've
- 5:52Speaker 5: got one from Giselle, who said she went into City
- 5:54Speaker 5: Chic to buy some bathers and some shorts. Turns out
- 5:57Speaker 5: the entire store, every single item was thirty dollars each.
- 6:02Speaker 5: She doesn't matter how much it was marked at. Everything
- 6:04Speaker 5: was there.
- 6:04Speaker 4: The shutting down.
- 6:05Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Maybe is that how you pronounce it?
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:08Speaker 5: Did she you thought it was chick? I'm pretty sure
- 6:12Speaker 5: it's cheap.
- 6:13Speaker 4: I think it's cheek. That's how I would say it.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Open to interpretation. I feel like chick has a K
- 6:17Speaker 4: on the end. Yes, I do feel that.
- 6:20Speaker 5: Chic is maybe like the vibe they're going for. Yeah, anyway,
- 6:23Speaker 5: Gazelle said she got a few additional items for less
- 6:26Speaker 5: than what she would have spent on just her bathiest door.
- 6:29Speaker 3: I hope you enjoy your holiday because I'm assuming if
- 6:31Speaker 3: you're buying bathes in July, goh, you're going somewhere better than.
- 6:35Speaker 5: For some Next, I've got one from Mikayla, who said
- 6:38Speaker 5: she finally deleted after pay after it had a group
- 6:42Speaker 5: on her and she also has purchased a new corwage
- 6:45Speaker 5: is halved her gas budget. Well done, machaye enjoy you're
- 6:48Speaker 5: so hard? Yeah, well done. And then last day, I've
- 6:52Speaker 5: got one from Kate who said, thanks to the pod,
- 6:54Speaker 5: she joined the Grilled Is it mad Monday? Whatever?
- 6:58Speaker 4: Yeah, that's all about it.
- 7:00Speaker 5: She said she signed up. She won this week and
- 7:02Speaker 5: she got herself a free burgers to the Burger and
- 7:05Speaker 5: got some onion rings too, so we both enjoyed a
- 7:07Speaker 5: much cheaper treat. The onion rings from Grilled. Have you
- 7:11Speaker 5: ever had them?
- 7:13Speaker 4: We need to go. They live rent free in my brain.
- 7:16Speaker 4: They live.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Honestly, they're almost up there with the cross section Caesar wrap.
- 7:21Speaker 4: They're so good.
- 7:22Speaker 5: God, oh my god. And then I know I said
- 7:25Speaker 5: that was the last one, but I did also just
- 7:27Speaker 5: want to shout out.
- 7:28Speaker 4: I've got more.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Pet tax photos this week, So I just wanted to
- 7:31Speaker 5: say shout out to Ebony, Jackie, Carla and CHARLINI everyone
- 7:36Speaker 5: should go look at the thread because may I just
- 7:38Speaker 5: share with you are still.
- 7:39Speaker 6: Tiny, baby adorable. Look at all these screen shirt Jess
- 7:43Speaker 6: has just screenshots of your.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Photos of people. Dug right now on my phone. Look
- 7:48Speaker 5: at this little cute. I don't even know what that is.
- 7:51Speaker 4: It's like a cool geek.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Cross staffy, sweet little kiddy loving the pet tax. Thank yous.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Okay, that's the best part of our community. Actually, I
- 8:03Speaker 3: take back everything I've ever said about money wins and confessions. No,
- 8:06Speaker 3: we just like you your pets back. What have you
- 8:10Speaker 3: got when it comes to broke tip? Okay, so I
- 8:12Speaker 3: do have my break texts.
- 8:12Speaker 6: I just really quickly want to add a money win.
- 8:15Speaker 6: I was working my friend's op shops still good recycled
- 8:17Speaker 6: in front three and so not so subtle.
- 8:21Speaker 4: What's it called? It can literally be the most shameless plug.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Thank you so much? So we do what do we want?
- 8:27Speaker 6: I did really quickly in case anyone want to find
- 8:28Speaker 6: me beforehand, but I was working there and then my
- 8:31Speaker 6: car I was on Sydney Road and my car got
- 8:33Speaker 6: towed and then but I went outside and I was like, oh,
- 8:36Speaker 6: through shame. And then I saw it up the road
- 8:38Speaker 6: and I was like the shop still open and I'm like, well,
- 8:41Speaker 6: I'm going to sprint. I'm going to sprint. And then
- 8:43Speaker 6: I sprinted to the guy and he was like, oh
- 8:46Speaker 6: you work. It still good and I was like yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 6: and he was like, okay, you can have it back,
- 8:50Speaker 6: but he did. I did have to pay three hundred
- 8:52Speaker 6: and sixty dollars, but it was cheaper than.
- 8:53Speaker 4: The empower it is. It was like four eighty or something,
- 8:56Speaker 4: and the dog would have cost me like twenty bucks.
- 8:58Speaker 3: When I was pregnant with Harvey, I did that and
- 9:00Speaker 3: got my car impounded one out of ten do not
- 9:03Speaker 3: park in a no standing zone. And I also feel
- 9:05Speaker 3: like I should have got some type of pregnancy tax
- 9:07Speaker 3: on that because I had baby brain exactly premise, so sorry.
- 9:10Speaker 3: I remember walking out and being like victorianout. I was
- 9:13Speaker 3: at the hairdressers. I think you guys heard about this
- 9:15Speaker 3: at the time. I was at the hairdressers and I
- 9:17Speaker 3: fully knew I've been going to VODA for years. Yeah,
- 9:20Speaker 3: I knew that it was a no standing zone outside
- 9:22Speaker 3: that still did it didn't matter? You know what, maybe
- 9:25Speaker 3: I deserved it in heind so you didn't deserve it though,
- 9:27Speaker 3: Oh thank you.
- 9:28Speaker 4: But it turns out if you tell people you work
- 9:30Speaker 4: at an opshop, they'll give you a car back. Yes, yes,
- 9:32Speaker 4: he was so sweet. And the guy told me I
- 9:35Speaker 4: definitely can't take it off the truck.
- 9:36Speaker 6: It's illegal, apparent No, okay, it's because me and this
- 9:41Speaker 6: other couple got our cars off and we had just
- 9:43Speaker 6: had to pay him on the spot and easy done.
- 9:45Speaker 4: So do you reckon he took the money himself? Do
- 9:47Speaker 4: you reckon? He's got a sneaky little page too. Well,
- 9:50Speaker 4: I don't even care.
- 9:51Speaker 5: I'm not asking questions. I'm not even do I.
- 9:53Speaker 4: Hey, no, his hustle.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I need to know his hustle because, like I just
- 9:56Speaker 3: am pervy when it comes to cash.
- 9:58Speaker 4: I hope he kept the money. He was so sweet.
- 10:00Speaker 4: He gave him my car back. That's so sweet. Okay, Okay,
- 10:02Speaker 4: he also took your car. Let's not. Yeah, it really
- 10:07Speaker 4: feels like one of those like it was so nice.
- 10:09Speaker 4: That feels like a trauma bond. Definitely Traumlondon.
- 10:13Speaker 6: Okay, So this first one comes from Reese, you send
- 10:16Speaker 6: me screenshot of an Uber eats tend or ding Dong dealing,
- 10:21Speaker 6: But I think it's like maybe it's like an early
- 10:23Speaker 6: in the evening thing that I have never ever seen.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Before, and I feel like a ding dong deal has
- 10:27Speaker 4: been made up. But that's.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Maybe they did, you know what sticky photoshop this. You'll
- 10:33Speaker 3: aren't going to forget that today. But you know, you
- 10:35Speaker 3: can get like.
- 10:36Speaker 6: You know, a four piece nigery nine dollars, which is
- 10:38Speaker 6: you know, kind of you know, normal, but then there
- 10:40Speaker 6: are things like burgers, huge normal sized burgers for ten dollars,
- 10:45Speaker 6: like and.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Cheaper as well, normal size. Jess jump on to an
- 10:49Speaker 4: end day.
- 10:50Speaker 6: I think it's like, I mean, my guess, I don't
- 10:52Speaker 6: have much information, but my guess is it's it's between
- 10:55Speaker 6: the five and six o'clock hour where it's like maybe
- 10:57Speaker 6: a little bit too early for dinner, but like close
- 10:59Speaker 6: enough to dener that you're probably gonna be on the app.
- 11:02Speaker 4: And then you can get yourself deal and there's so many.
- 11:04Speaker 6: So many different restaurants on there, so yeah, snag yourself
- 11:06Speaker 6: something that's great. And then the next one comes from Jade,
- 11:09Speaker 6: who says that coming to winter don't turn up the
- 11:11Speaker 6: heating and throw away that thin blanket. Please go grab
- 11:15Speaker 6: yourself a sleeping bag, preferably the ones that say minus
- 11:18Speaker 6: three degrees or something, and use that as your couch blanky.
- 11:22Speaker 6: So clever, genius, because you those things are really made
- 11:26Speaker 6: for the most dire, like out in the snow situation.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I think a lot of people are buying the kmarn't
- 11:33Speaker 3: heaters like the mini ones, and that you guys have
- 11:35Speaker 3: only just started realizing how much they cost to run. Yeah,
- 11:37Speaker 3: so like we're just going to have to turn to
- 11:39Speaker 3: blankets and wheat packs, I think, and.
- 11:41Speaker 5: Get a sleep Yeah. Yeah, that's actually a great idea.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Catch me looking like a worm on my couch, looking
- 11:47Speaker 4: like a worm. They used to have those owners, they
- 11:50Speaker 4: still have them. Go to sleep off your feet because
- 11:52Speaker 4: you're in a little package.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Yeah exactly, I'm a burrito.
- 11:55Speaker 4: That's so cute.
- 11:55Speaker 6: But those ones that have the like they're like a bodysuit,
- 11:59Speaker 6: you know, those sleep bags a suit.
- 12:02Speaker 4: They do the business. This this this used to be thin.
- 12:04Speaker 6: I don't know if it still is, but it's like
- 12:05Speaker 6: you you zip it up and you're in like a
- 12:07Speaker 6: big light legs and legs has arms.
- 12:09Speaker 4: It's a sleeping bag and like my dream.
- 12:11Speaker 3: I was putting my kid into his pajamas the other
- 12:14Speaker 3: day and he wears zip up onesies with the little
- 12:16Speaker 3: footsy things on it.
- 12:17Speaker 4: I'm thinking, this guy knows what's up?
- 12:19Speaker 5: Do we all recall this is such a fever dream.
- 12:22Speaker 5: When I was in high school, I would have been
- 12:24Speaker 5: year twelve when animal onesies there was just this.
- 12:28Speaker 4: You had a stitch one every Yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Everyone had one of those, and it was like a
- 12:31Speaker 5: blanket material unicorn. Do you remember that.
- 12:35Speaker 4: I was trying to forget it.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 4: It was like and everyone wore them everywhere. Everyone.
- 12:39Speaker 5: Yeah, you would wear them to the shops, to the Oh,
- 12:42Speaker 5: yes I do.
- 12:42Speaker 4: It was crazy, like I didn't wear them to the shops.
- 12:45Speaker 4: I just I don't think I did. I wore them
- 12:47Speaker 4: to sleepovers at friend's houses. Yes, I call them.
- 12:50Speaker 5: To mark up Day.
- 12:51Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure I dressed up a superwoman to muck
- 12:53Speaker 4: up Day. I went his honeybooberoy. I never want photos
- 12:58Speaker 4: of either of those surface. I'm going to do this
- 13:02Speaker 4: sleeping back. That's a great one, Thanks back. I love that.
- 13:04Speaker 5: I to go.
- 13:05Speaker 6: Okay, So my one for this week my best friend Live.
- 13:09Speaker 6: She is opening a quibar in Fitzroy North, which is
- 13:12Speaker 6: very exciting.
- 13:12Speaker 4: And it's going to be named after her.
- 13:13Speaker 1: Mum, Bernie.
- 13:14Speaker 4: Bernie is so cute.
- 13:15Speaker 5: That is a good name.
- 13:16Speaker 4: I mean, she's lots of weekends at Bernie's.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Guys, you're not going to believe he's actually Tomorrow, on
- 13:21Speaker 3: the twenty sixth of July, I'm going to gay line dancing.
- 13:24Speaker 3: I'm not gay, but like, I just feel like that's
- 13:26Speaker 3: going to be good. And my best friend is so
- 13:27Speaker 3: she's my ticket in gay line dancing. Tell me, tell
- 13:32Speaker 3: me that that doesn't sound like the best time.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Every it gets roy?
- 13:35Speaker 5: Is it run by two women like a couple? It
- 13:37Speaker 5: is so they ran one moondog at them. They are
- 13:45Speaker 5: such crazy.
- 13:46Speaker 4: He's literally flying over from Tazzy.
- 13:48Speaker 3: I'm picking her up after this episode and we are
- 13:50Speaker 3: going to the gay line dancing tomorrow.
- 13:52Speaker 5: That'sh my god, so so fun.
- 13:54Speaker 3: And we tried to Steve that he didn't need to come.
- 13:56Speaker 3: We're like, no, you don't need to come. It's fine.
- 13:57Speaker 3: You have to stay home and.
- 13:58Speaker 4: Look up for the baby. Obviously it's just us.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Well, they're line dancing.
- 14:02Speaker 4: It's a great time.
- 14:03Speaker 7: It was.
- 14:03Speaker 3: I just think it'd be really I still haven't worked
- 14:05Speaker 3: out what I'm gonna wear, but i'll call you after.
- 14:06Speaker 6: This feels like, I mean, that feels like that Kathin
- 14:09Speaker 6: Kim episode where cath thinks that Kim's Gertrude.
- 14:13Speaker 4: What's her Yeah? Yeah, yeah, throwing her handback in the river.
- 14:16Speaker 6: For anyone without context, just watch Kathin Kim also go
- 14:19Speaker 6: gay line dancing and go back.
- 14:22Speaker 4: You know how this goes. And then what did I say?
- 14:24Speaker 4: Oh yeah, my best friendly quibar in. I'm not trying
- 14:27Speaker 4: to go to her bar right now, No preeze that lives.
- 14:30Speaker 3: No for three minutes, open yet, but that's okayting for
- 14:33Speaker 3: three minutes.
- 14:34Speaker 6: But no, Please do go and support because I will
- 14:38Speaker 6: definitely be there. But yes, the process has been very exciting,
- 14:42Speaker 6: and she got a bunch of these sample tiles, as
- 14:45Speaker 6: you would if you're doing a splashback. Anyway, I'm a
- 14:48Speaker 6: big supporter of the square tile. I just I don't
- 14:51Speaker 6: like the brick one. I think it looks good in
- 14:53Speaker 6: some context. Anyway, that's really irrelevant. She got a bunch
- 14:55Speaker 6: of square tiles because I literally insisted, And so when
- 15:00Speaker 6: she was finished with them, she's like, oh yeah, I
- 15:02Speaker 6: like this color. What about here's all these sample tiles
- 15:04Speaker 6: that I'm not going to use anymore free or very cheap,
- 15:07Speaker 6: And I thought these are stunning coasters.
- 15:11Speaker 4: And I just think that is if you're.
- 15:14Speaker 6: Pretending that you're renovating, I know it's probably it's probably legal,
- 15:16Speaker 6: isn't it. If you go when you pretend you're renovating,
- 15:18Speaker 6: you get all these different sampled coasters. There's some stunning
- 15:21Speaker 6: ones like olive green, You've got your mate, like burnt orange.
- 15:25Speaker 4: Oh my god, there's just a beautiful coaster. So I
- 15:28Speaker 4: think if you and those those.
- 15:29Speaker 6: Things would be quite expensive in your Yeah, where do
- 15:33Speaker 6: they sell them?
- 15:34Speaker 4: A door? A tile place, bode Yeah, the tip place
- 15:38Speaker 4: it is.
- 15:39Speaker 5: Sorry, Yes, you have only found lots of people on
- 15:44Speaker 5: Facebook marketplace. They've gotten samples that they're just.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Give me totally.
- 15:47Speaker 6: Oh, we don't need this anymore. So sample tiles make
- 15:50Speaker 6: great coasters. Is my broke tinn kidtie?
- 15:52Speaker 4: Yeah, that's quite smart, quite smart. All right, let's go
- 15:54Speaker 4: to a really quick break. I'm gonna ask Jess what
- 15:56Speaker 4: I should wear to the gay line dancing.
- 15:58Speaker 3: And then after the break, week' to be talking about
- 16:01Speaker 3: what do you do when your current role isn't your
- 16:03Speaker 3: dream gig?
- 16:04Speaker 4: And then something?
- 16:05Speaker 3: Do you slid into our dms about this week, we're
- 16:07Speaker 3: asking whether you should speak.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Up about the debt a sibling is going to go
- 16:10Speaker 4: into for their wedding or not. Anyway, see you after
- 16:13Speaker 4: the break.
- 16:18Speaker 5: Welcome back, everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 16:20Speaker 5: money dilemma.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Hi, there, have you.
- 16:24Speaker 8: Got a money dilemma you just can't solve? The She's
- 16:27Speaker 8: on the Money team is here to help.
- 16:29Speaker 3: Every week we tackle your dilemmas, both big and small,
- 16:32Speaker 3: to answer your most burning money.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Career and life questions.
- 16:35Speaker 8: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 16:38Speaker 8: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 16:40Speaker 8: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 16:43Speaker 8: this week's money dilemma.
- 16:47Speaker 7: Hey, she Use on the Money. My money slash career
- 16:50Speaker 7: dilemma is whether I should go back to UNI or
- 16:53Speaker 7: suck it up in a high paying, okay job. I'm
- 16:56Speaker 7: currently twenty seven, three years into working in corporate construction, which, honestly,
- 17:01Speaker 7: for a better way of putting it, I don't really
- 17:03Speaker 7: care about. I've thought about a career change to corporate marketing, etc.
- 17:07Speaker 7: I love fashion in the beauty field. But with hextet
- 17:11Speaker 7: already of fifty thousand K and the thought of adding
- 17:14Speaker 7: more to that, let alone putting all other dreams of
- 17:17Speaker 7: owning a home, getting married, all those things on hold,
- 17:20Speaker 7: is really scary. I'm not sure if I should stay
- 17:22Speaker 7: in this career with good pay, good growth and challenge,
- 17:27Speaker 7: or risk it all for a career that might not
- 17:29Speaker 7: work out or give me all the things that I
- 17:31Speaker 7: want in life. So please help.
- 17:34Speaker 3: I saw a quote the other day that said, if
- 17:36Speaker 3: you don't make a career change at thirty that you
- 17:39Speaker 3: really want to be, you're giving up the opportunity to
- 17:41Speaker 3: be a sixty year old with thirty years of experience.
- 17:44Speaker 3: And I think that that is really relevant, because, like, girl,
- 17:47Speaker 3: you're never too old, Like even if you're forty or
- 17:50Speaker 3: fifty or even sixty and you want to try something new, Like,
- 17:53Speaker 3: what's the worst that could happen?
- 17:54Speaker 4: Totally exactly. I don't know what are your thoughts, Jess.
- 17:58Speaker 5: I think that I totally get the heck step thing,
- 18:02Speaker 5: like that's something that would put me off as well.
- 18:04Speaker 5: I wonder if there's a way for you to either
- 18:07Speaker 5: find an opportunity to kind of I'm a big side
- 18:10Speaker 5: door person, Like, you don't have to go in the
- 18:11Speaker 5: front door, find a side door. Can you like maybe
- 18:14Speaker 5: move into a different department within the company you're currently with.
- 18:17Speaker 5: Can you express them hey, like, this is something i'd
- 18:19Speaker 5: really like to do. Is there a marketing team that
- 18:21Speaker 5: I could get some experience with in a junior role?
- 18:24Speaker 5: There are sometimes ways that you can learn on the
- 18:27Speaker 5: job without getting the degree, especially marketing. I know it's
- 18:31Speaker 5: I don't want to contradict myself because I know a
- 18:33Speaker 5: lot of marketing jobs do require a degree, but also
- 18:36Speaker 5: experience speaks volumes. So if there's a way for you
- 18:38Speaker 5: to kind of sidestep into a junior role, get some experience,
- 18:41Speaker 5: see if you like it as well. Because you're saying always.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Revert back to that career with that correct paying.
- 18:45Speaker 5: Exactly, especially if you're able to do it at the
- 18:48Speaker 5: same company or at a similar company. That kind of
- 18:50Speaker 5: feels like a nice middle ground to me. The other
- 18:53Speaker 5: thing I would say is there are lots of short
- 18:55Speaker 5: courses you could do. You could do TAFE like you
- 18:57Speaker 5: don't have to necessarily do or straight into a four
- 19:01Speaker 5: year full blown university degree, Like if you're just wanting
- 19:05Speaker 5: to test the field. See if you like it, see
- 19:07Speaker 5: if it is something that you would want to do
- 19:08Speaker 5: long term, maybe look at doing something like that instead,
- 19:11Speaker 5: so you're still educating your upskilling. The other thing I
- 19:14Speaker 5: would say is potentially if your company is happy for
- 19:17Speaker 5: you to move into that spot, they might even be
- 19:19Speaker 5: open to subsidizing it for you as a part of
- 19:21Speaker 5: your like.
- 19:22Speaker 3: PD, or they might be even interested in hiring you
- 19:25Speaker 3: just because you're enrolled in the course.
- 19:27Speaker 5: Correct. So I feel like there's a lot of things
- 19:30Speaker 5: that you can do to maybe dip a toe in
- 19:34Speaker 5: not have to take on the full weight of full
- 19:36Speaker 5: time study and obviously the costs that come with that.
- 19:39Speaker 5: But in terms of like should you make a career change,
- 19:42Speaker 5: I think your happiness is very important. Like another thirty
- 19:45Speaker 5: years is a long time to spend in a job
- 19:46Speaker 5: that you hate, you know.
- 19:48Speaker 3: See, I'm a bit of a sacrifice girly like and like,
- 19:51Speaker 3: don't do as I say, like as in, don't do
- 19:53Speaker 3: what I do, because like that could be seen as
- 19:56Speaker 3: being a little bit delusional.
- 19:58Speaker 4: But I did bother.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Like I was working in psychology and wanted to go
- 20:03Speaker 3: into finance, and I obviously needed a degree to do that.
- 20:07Speaker 3: So I did a full time master's degree at the
- 20:09Speaker 3: same time as working full time. And I'm not saying
- 20:11Speaker 3: that everybody has the privilege to do that, and it
- 20:14Speaker 3: is so exhausting, but like, what a privilege to be
- 20:17Speaker 3: exhausted by something that I chose to be challenged by. Yeah,
- 20:21Speaker 3: Like it's not as though I didn't choose that challenge.
- 20:25Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh my god, life sucks. I'm so
- 20:27Speaker 4: tired all the time.
- 20:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I was tired, but I was getting what I
- 20:29Speaker 3: wanted and I got a very good outcome out of that.
- 20:32Speaker 3: And I'm not saying that my true rejectory or my
- 20:34Speaker 3: career trajectory is the same as everybody else's, but like
- 20:37Speaker 3: sometimes you go, all right, well, if I zoom out,
- 20:40Speaker 3: maybe I could do UNI part time after work, And
- 20:43Speaker 3: like what I did was quote part time university during
- 20:46Speaker 3: the general terms and then over the Christmas New Year's
- 20:49Speaker 3: holiday they had like intensive units and I could do
- 20:52Speaker 3: two at a time through that period and basically turbocharged
- 20:56Speaker 3: my degree.
- 20:57Speaker 4: So I was doing it like part time full time.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Like part time workload is two units per semester and
- 21:03Speaker 3: full time is four, and I was doing I think three,
- 21:07Speaker 3: and then an additional one over the Christmas New Year's
- 21:10Speaker 3: holiday to make it up anyway, it doesn't matter how
- 21:12Speaker 3: I did it. But I just think that sometimes work
- 21:15Speaker 3: life balance, Like you're gonna have work, you're gonna have life,
- 21:18Speaker 3: and you're gonna have family, and sometimes things have to
- 21:23Speaker 3: pull back a little bit. I didn't have a social life.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Am I saying that that was the best thing ever?
- 21:27Speaker 3: Am I saying that's for you?
- 21:28Speaker 4: No?
- 21:28Speaker 3: But sometimes life has to be about compromise to get
- 21:31Speaker 3: where you want to go. Like, I don't know, I
- 21:33Speaker 3: feel like with things like this, you can't have your
- 21:35Speaker 3: cake and eat it too and go okay, cool.
- 21:37Speaker 4: I'll go into.
- 21:37Speaker 3: Perfectly full time study and go back on you know,
- 21:41Speaker 3: OZ study or sendling, can you know, glide through that
- 21:44Speaker 3: way and then work my way back up, Like maybe
- 21:46Speaker 3: you could do a part time course or maybe you
- 21:49Speaker 3: could go back to UNI and do it part time.
- 21:52Speaker 3: Yes it might take eight years instead of four, or
- 21:54Speaker 3: yes it might take six years instead of three, but
- 21:56Speaker 3: like that's six years if you working towards a goal,
- 22:01Speaker 3: and you'll work out pretty quickly if you like the
- 22:02Speaker 3: content or not. Yeah, definitely anyway, I'm just very much
- 22:07Speaker 3: if you really want something.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Just do it and work out it all out later.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Yeah, that's big, big energy.
- 22:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:14Speaker 3: But also I kept my full time job and needed
- 22:18Speaker 3: my income and best just like yollo.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Yeah that's true, that's true.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Didn't need income. I just think keep stacks like income.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Nice concept. I forgot about that.
- 22:29Speaker 6: I don't know, because I'm sure you get to a
- 22:30Speaker 6: point in life. You don't have to get a point
- 22:33Speaker 6: to a point in life, but some people do get
- 22:34Speaker 6: to a point in their life where they can't not
- 22:38Speaker 6: be making a certain amount of money less than one percent.
- 22:41Speaker 3: And like what I'm talking about, guys, I was single,
- 22:44Speaker 3: I didn't have any dependence, I didn't have a mortgage.
- 22:46Speaker 4: I got into some debt during that time.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I'm not going to say that I like I could
- 22:50Speaker 3: not make that decision right now with my family.
- 22:52Speaker 4: Sorry, that's not an option totally.
- 22:54Speaker 6: So I think that if you don't have those like
- 22:58Speaker 6: monetary respect, onsibilities or commitments, keep starting over because like,
- 23:03Speaker 6: and I've said this for but like everything's kind of
- 23:05Speaker 6: like made up, so like if you don't have a
- 23:07Speaker 6: passion or if you don't know what, like we just
- 23:09Speaker 6: have to And also we spend so much time at
- 23:11Speaker 6: work it sucks, Like we just like see our we
- 23:14Speaker 6: probably we probably see our colleagues more than we see
- 23:16Speaker 6: our friends and family, and so like most of our
- 23:18Speaker 6: life unfortunately is at work.
- 23:21Speaker 4: Which is a crazy, crazy thought.
- 23:24Speaker 6: But just keep starting over until you're finally, like somewhat
- 23:28Speaker 6: happy because otherwise majority of your life, genuinely majority of
- 23:32Speaker 6: your life is miserable. Let's just not regret it, like,
- 23:36Speaker 6: try not to even though you have to work. Like
- 23:38Speaker 6: I'm girl, you literally eat.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Yeah, but like you don't regret the decisions you made,
- 23:42Speaker 3: you regret the things you didn't do.
- 23:44Speaker 5: So true, you can always go back. Like if you
- 23:46Speaker 5: start into marketing you decide you don't love it, the
- 23:48Speaker 5: job is still going to be there the industry.
- 23:49Speaker 3: You already have the experience. Yeah, so no, I agree.
- 23:53Speaker 3: All right you guys ready for a DM Yes please?
- 23:57Speaker 5: Ah?
- 23:57Speaker 1: All right?
- 23:58Speaker 4: This week's dan Hey on the money.
- 24:00Speaker 3: My brother is getting married, and honestly, my whole family
- 24:04Speaker 3: has lost the plot and it's like the value of
- 24:06Speaker 3: money doesn't even exist anymore. They don't earn a lot
- 24:09Speaker 3: of money, but my sister in law is acting like
- 24:10Speaker 3: there's a never ending pot of money. They can't afford
- 24:13Speaker 3: all the things she wants, and so they're just racking
- 24:15Speaker 3: up all this debt to quit make her stress go away.
- 24:19Speaker 3: She keeps saying, I'll just sell it after the wedding.
- 24:22Speaker 3: But it's stuff no one is going to want secondhand,
- 24:25Speaker 3: and definitely not for the prices she thinks she's gonna get.
- 24:28Speaker 3: It's delusional. I brought it up gently, of course, and
- 24:31Speaker 3: now our whole family thinks I'm the bad guy. Now
- 24:34Speaker 3: I am expected to just go along with everything and
- 24:37Speaker 3: celebrate and say how wonderful everything is. And it makes
- 24:40Speaker 3: me feel sick at the debt that they're going into.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Hmmm, how do we feel about this weddings? I don't understand,
- 24:47Speaker 4: but I get. I get, like you know, some people
- 24:49Speaker 4: want to big weddings. To speak.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I loved my wedding like you. I could have my
- 24:55Speaker 3: wedding again, I would. It makes me depressed sometimes thinking
- 24:58Speaker 3: that I'm never gonna have another Medican in my entire life.
- 25:00Speaker 4: I do avour in your Yeah, do avour in yours?
- 25:03Speaker 1: Fine?
- 25:03Speaker 3: Damn a big party, limb, yeah, but like it will
- 25:07Speaker 3: never be as big of a party as the party
- 25:09Speaker 3: that I got to have for my wedding. Saying that
- 25:10Speaker 3: I went into no debt for that and that's privileged.
- 25:12Speaker 3: But like, also this sounds very stressful.
- 25:15Speaker 6: Is it because of the amount of people or is it
- 25:17Speaker 6: because of the like decor, Like what get that is?
- 25:20Speaker 3: I think that they're like, at the end of the day,
- 25:22Speaker 3: the average wedding here in Australia costs more than fifty
- 25:25Speaker 3: thousand dollars, and that is a massive financial burden on
- 25:27Speaker 3: anybody totally. And I'm just saying, like an easily, Like
- 25:30Speaker 3: I'm not gonna lie easily you can spend more than
- 25:33Speaker 3: one hundred thousand dollars on a wedding. And I don't
- 25:35Speaker 3: mean that you're like, oh my god, it was so
- 25:37Speaker 3: easy because like I'm an expensive galie.
- 25:39Speaker 4: No.
- 25:39Speaker 3: No, Like, once you get your venue, once you get
- 25:42Speaker 3: your dress, once you get flowers, like it all honestly
- 25:44Speaker 3: adds up. Like these days, videographer easy ten grand, photographer
- 25:48Speaker 3: easy six to ten grand, Like those are reasonable prices.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Those are not things that you're like, oh that's an expense, No,
- 25:55Speaker 3: that's normal.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm like, these things are to add up.
- 25:58Speaker 3: You want your husband in a suit, you want matching
- 26:00Speaker 3: suits for the groomsmen, bam, you want nice shoes, bam.
- 26:04Speaker 3: Like all those things just they add up. I get it,
- 26:07Speaker 3: I really do.
- 26:07Speaker 4: It's all arbitrary, I don't know. I guess it kind
- 26:09Speaker 4: of it's kind of annoying. I don't know why.
- 26:10Speaker 6: But I can really appreciate a really beautiful wedding, like
- 26:13Speaker 6: aesthetically or what, especially if you're ever and everything looks beautiful.
- 26:17Speaker 4: So I totally do get that.
- 26:18Speaker 6: But I guess the only thing I would suggest, And
- 26:22Speaker 6: some people aren't, like, you know, open to this conversation,
- 26:24Speaker 6: especially if it's like before the wedding and they're really
- 26:27Speaker 6: excited for it, and this this kind of conversation could
- 26:29Speaker 6: be really like a wet blanket, but kind of like
- 26:32Speaker 6: asking the why and then also kind of getting into
- 26:37Speaker 6: like what life looks like afterward, and what marriage looks
- 26:41Speaker 6: like afterwards and all this kind of stuff and just
- 26:43Speaker 6: kind of being like, this is because as there is
- 26:47Speaker 6: life after.
- 26:47Speaker 4: I get that.
- 26:48Speaker 6: Because when I'm having a birthday party, I'm having a
- 26:51Speaker 6: house party in a few days, and you guys are
- 26:53Speaker 6: obviously not, but I.
- 26:58Speaker 3: Yes, do you want to do something when be's having
- 27:00Speaker 3: a house party that we weren't invited to.
- 27:02Speaker 4: I'll just sit out the front window and watch. No worries,
- 27:05Speaker 4: but I didn't.
- 27:06Speaker 6: Nope, no, I didn inviute you on Facebook, but I
- 27:08Speaker 6: don't if anyone checks any Facebook, I don't check.
- 27:11Speaker 4: What That's so fair, but thank you for the invite,
- 27:13Speaker 4: of course.
- 27:14Speaker 6: But when I'm having a birthday party, I can't even
- 27:17Speaker 6: see life after it because I'm like so really excited
- 27:21Speaker 6: to it.
- 27:22Speaker 5: I don't even know what.
- 27:22Speaker 6: Life looks like when my birthday's over, you know. So
- 27:25Speaker 6: I can totally understand being like in that headspace and
- 27:27Speaker 6: be like, this day is everything to me, and I'm
- 27:30Speaker 6: going to make sure it looks so beautiful and so
- 27:32Speaker 6: big and so grand.
- 27:33Speaker 4: But then if someone said to me, hey, do you
- 27:35Speaker 4: know that.
- 27:35Speaker 6: Life will still go on afterwards hopefully, then I would
- 27:39Speaker 6: probably stop to think like, oh, yeah, I probably don't
- 27:41Speaker 6: need to buy twenty thousand fairy lights, you know, things
- 27:45Speaker 6: like that.
- 27:45Speaker 4: So just like a just gently nudging them to ask why.
- 27:48Speaker 7: They're doing what they're doing.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Clearly they have been nudging them, because the bride said, well,
- 27:53Speaker 3: with those twenty thousand fairy lights, I'm going to sell
- 27:54Speaker 3: them on Facebook marketplace obviously make my money back. Like
- 27:57Speaker 3: she's clearly thought about this, and it's the person who
- 28:01Speaker 3: wrote in said they're delusional.
- 28:03Speaker 4: What do you reckon, Jess?
- 28:04Speaker 5: I will say I do have a feeling that every
- 28:07Speaker 5: diib or i'd ever has said I'll buy it and
- 28:09Speaker 5: then sell it on Facebook Marketplace, just purely from my
- 28:12Speaker 5: own Facebook markplace talking. It seems like there is so
- 28:16Speaker 5: much wedding stuff out there, so firstly looks she should
- 28:18Speaker 5: be saying if she can't buy it secondhand or Facebook
- 28:20Speaker 5: market life, cool, But I also think that you're probably
- 28:22Speaker 5: not going to make a huge amount of money, just
- 28:25Speaker 5: based on again kind of what I've seen out there
- 28:27Speaker 5: in the world, depending on what it is. Obviously, I
- 28:30Speaker 5: would honestly kind of say, I think you've done your job,
- 28:33Speaker 5: like I think you've kind of tried to be the
- 28:34Speaker 5: voice of reason. You've said, hey, have we thought about this?
- 28:38Speaker 5: You know, you can make suggestions, maybe buy secondhand, maybe rent,
- 28:42Speaker 5: maybe whatever.
- 28:43Speaker 4: At the end of the day, it's not your.
- 28:44Speaker 5: Money, and it's I think, honestly not your place. Like
- 28:48Speaker 5: I understand and I agree that you know, is it
- 28:51Speaker 5: a choice that is the most fiscally responsible, perhaps not.
- 28:54Speaker 5: Is it a choice that I personally would make, perhaps not.
- 28:57Speaker 5: But it's not my money or your money or your
- 28:59Speaker 5: life and therefore really not.
- 29:02Speaker 3: They're an adult, they're making a decision correct, not your choice,
- 29:04Speaker 3: not your problem.
- 29:05Speaker 4: I think that circus not your monkeys.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Absolutely. I think like any good friend, good family member
- 29:11Speaker 5: will kind of flag issues. I think that is a
- 29:13Speaker 5: hard part of being a good friend is sometimes you
- 29:17Speaker 5: do have to say, hey, I get that you're excited,
- 29:20Speaker 5: I'm going to be the bad guy friend and you spoke.
- 29:22Speaker 4: About it because you care, not because you're trying to criticize.
- 29:24Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly right, And there's a way to do that,
- 29:26Speaker 5: and it sounds like our listener has really tried. Once
- 29:29Speaker 5: you've done that, I think your job is done truthfully,
- 29:32Speaker 5: and I think it's kind of like, okay, well, let
- 29:34Speaker 5: them make their choices their adults, and they can do
- 29:36Speaker 5: what they wan.
- 29:36Speaker 3: I agree, and I guess from my perspective, like I
- 29:39Speaker 3: resonate with that. I resonate with our listener questions so
- 29:43Speaker 3: much because I also get like relatively frustrated when I
- 29:46Speaker 3: see people making really irresponsible decisions. I'm like, you know,
- 29:50Speaker 3: I'm a finance girlie, and like, at the end of
- 29:52Speaker 3: the day, my entire career is crafted around the fact
- 29:55Speaker 3: that I help people make good money. Decisions, and I
- 29:58Speaker 3: just don't want you to make bad ones. But when
- 30:01Speaker 3: emotions come into it, especially when it's stuff like weddings,
- 30:04Speaker 3: like when emotions and money are involved, sometimes even your
- 30:09Speaker 3: gentle honesty can come across as criticism and it can
- 30:12Speaker 3: be taken the wrong way. And I think that Jess
- 30:15Speaker 3: is absolutely correct. You've done your job. I don't think
- 30:17Speaker 3: you're the bad guy here. You're the one wanting them
- 30:20Speaker 3: to think beyond their perfect day, and clearly they're not
- 30:23Speaker 3: going to. And maybe right now it's actually about you
- 30:26Speaker 3: protecting your own boundaries and going do you know what
- 30:29Speaker 3: I flagged it?
- 30:29Speaker 4: It wasn't taken.
- 30:30Speaker 3: Well, maybe you need to step back from the celebrations
- 30:33Speaker 3: so that you're not swept up in the quote delusion
- 30:37Speaker 3: of it all. Maybe we need to just step back
- 30:39Speaker 3: and be supportive, be supportive, be the person who's like.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Yep, anything you need, you let me know.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I'm going to be there with bells on it, and
- 30:45Speaker 3: I'm going to be the best sister in law ever.
- 30:47Speaker 4: You let me know what you need.
- 30:48Speaker 3: But sometimes the best thing that we can do is
- 30:50Speaker 3: actually quietly step back and let people.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Learn on their own.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Yeah, definitely, Sometimes it's actually not your job, like you've
- 30:56Speaker 3: flagged it. They've clearly taken to discriticism. They clearly think
- 30:59Speaker 3: that you're not doing the right thing. And sometimes letting
- 31:02Speaker 3: people learn as they grow is really important, even though
- 31:06Speaker 3: that is so hard to watch sometimes like it's not
- 31:10Speaker 3: life for death.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Yes, there's debt involved.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Sometimes they're going to have to learn the hard way,
- 31:15Speaker 3: and you know what, they might come out the other
- 31:17Speaker 3: side and be like, oh my god.
- 31:18Speaker 4: We're in so much debt, so worth it.
- 31:19Speaker 5: Well that's it, but we know and in line with
- 31:21Speaker 5: your values, maybe that's a choice that they made that
- 31:23Speaker 5: they said, yeah, we know we're going to take on
- 31:25Speaker 5: the debt. We're really happy with that.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Yeah. I find it so hard to watch those storys
- 31:28Speaker 3: so resonate. I really do get it. We asked our community, though, guys,
- 31:31Speaker 3: what do you think? We said, would you speak up
- 31:33Speaker 3: if you thought a sibling was making bad financial.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Choices for their wedding?
- 31:37Speaker 3: Forty five percent of you said, one hundred percent, they
- 31:39Speaker 3: need to hear it, thirty nine percent of you said
- 31:41Speaker 3: only if they asked. From my opinion, fourteen percent said no,
- 31:44Speaker 3: it's not my place, and two percent said I have.
- 31:46Speaker 3: And it didn't go well, the next question we asked,
- 31:50Speaker 3: is is it enabling if no one questions bad wedding spending.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Fifty one percent said definitely yes, Forty one percent said no,
- 31:58Speaker 3: it's no one else's business. Eight percent said being supportive
- 32:01Speaker 3: is the most important. I think I can be supportive.
- 32:06Speaker 3: I totally can be supportive. I'm always going to question you, like, Beck,
- 32:09Speaker 3: you quit your job recently and you've told us that,
- 32:12Speaker 3: and I've been like, look, totally supportive, love what you're doing.
- 32:15Speaker 3: Have you thought about ABC and D and you said yes,
- 32:17Speaker 3: And I've said great, worries your decision, But like I'm
- 32:19Speaker 3: always going to be that friend that questions you a
- 32:22Speaker 3: little bit because.
- 32:22Speaker 4: I'm like, oh, is this like the right decision.
- 32:25Speaker 3: Because like what if you got further down the line
- 32:27Speaker 3: and then you go, guys, no one said XYZ, or
- 32:31Speaker 3: no one questioned me, or no one said it was
- 32:32Speaker 3: a bad idea that or just you know, blindly support
- 32:35Speaker 3: me and that's.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Not what I don't know. I just sure should question it.
- 32:38Speaker 3: But like hopefully when I question you, you know it's coming
- 32:41Speaker 3: from a place of love and the fact that I
- 32:43Speaker 3: care about you, not because I'm like.
- 32:44Speaker 7: Yeah, you're an idiot.
- 32:45Speaker 4: Beck does that's not eat at all.
- 32:47Speaker 3: I'm literally like, okay, queen, love this for you, but
- 32:50Speaker 3: have we thought through the process. My type A personality
- 32:54Speaker 3: is coming out. We also asked the community guys, what's
- 32:57Speaker 3: your two cents? And did you have a two cents?
- 33:00Speaker 3: First person said, whoa, you guys are really spending big.
- 33:03Speaker 3: You must have saved for ages.
- 33:05Speaker 4: We know debts involved, though, we don't need to be
- 33:08Speaker 4: I don't know petty. We don't need to be petty.
- 33:10Speaker 4: Next person said the irony of spending more to keep
- 33:13Speaker 4: her stress away.
- 33:14Speaker 5: Girl.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Next person said, right now, watching my sister refiners her
- 33:19Speaker 3: mortgage for a fifty thousand dollar wedding is stressing me.
- 33:21Speaker 3: I'm actually very worried for her. Next person said, it's
- 33:25Speaker 3: not just the sibling money. Mine said, it's the bride
- 33:28Speaker 3: to be as well. You're actually already outnumbered.
- 33:31Speaker 4: It's true, right.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Next person said, you said your piece. Now you have
- 33:35Speaker 3: to accept their choice and move on.
- 33:36Speaker 5: Fair.
- 33:37Speaker 4: Another person said, if you're not paying, you don't have
- 33:39Speaker 4: an opinion.
- 33:40Speaker 5: I kind of agree with that on I agree.
- 33:43Speaker 4: That's like guest lists for weddings as well.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Oh hard agree on that.
- 33:46Speaker 4: I've got a lot of wedding conversation to have.
- 33:48Speaker 3: But if someone wants to invite people, pay to play
- 33:50Speaker 3: baby next person, Chupada said, if you feel you must
- 33:55Speaker 3: say something, choose your words and timing very carefully, because
- 33:59Speaker 3: unsolicited advice.
- 34:00Speaker 4: Feels awful to receive.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Someone else has clearly been listening to my podcast, and
- 34:05Speaker 3: this is the last one. She said, not my circus,
- 34:07Speaker 3: not my monkeys. I feel like I say that all
- 34:11Speaker 3: the time.
- 34:12Speaker 4: It's such a nice like it's like, oh, I can
- 34:14Speaker 4: let go of this.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, not my circus, not my monkeys. I also
- 34:17Speaker 3: like to say, pay peanuts, get monkeys.
- 34:19Speaker 4: I've never heard that one.
- 34:21Speaker 3: I wrote it in my first book, actually, and I
- 34:23Speaker 3: mildly regret it. You're aline in talking about superannuation, but
- 34:28Speaker 3: that's okay. Yeah, anyway, that's it from us, guys. We
- 34:32Speaker 3: hope you have a beautiful weekend and we'll see you
- 34:35Speaker 3: brighton early on Monday.
