- 1:07Donna J. Jodhan, LLB, ACSP, MBA: Hello there. I'm Donna J.
- 1:10Jodhan, your host for the Remarkable World Commentary podcast,
- 1:17and it is my first solo podcast for the month of August.
- 1:21I hope everybody is enjoying themselves.
- 1:25And for this first episode for the month of August,
- 1:30here is what I'd like to talk about.
- 1:34It is entity versus customer.
- 1:39What does that really mean in my books?
- 1:42Okay. What should one say to a customer agent when they tell you to find someone to
- 1:52assist you? It's not an uncommon statement, but one that is too common in many ways.
- 2:02Okay. And when it comes to Completing and submitting forms again.
- 2:11The customer agent tells you to find someone to assist you.
- 2:17Who is the responsibility?
- 2:18Is it? And I'm going to put my opinion out there by saying it is the opinion.
- 2:27Sorry. It is the responsibility of the customer agent to assist me as someone who is
- 2:35vision impaired, to complete and submit the form for.
- 2:41After all, the form comes from the company.
- 2:45It doesn't come from me.
- 2:47And why should I be expected to find someone to assist me to complete and submit the form
- 2:57if the form is inaccessible?
- 3:00It is the responsibility of the company to ensure that their customers.
- 3:08Those of us who need assistance, Can complete the form and it is up to them to
- 3:15help us do it, not to tell us to go elsewhere.
- 3:19Okay. It is up to the customer agent to find a solution.
- 3:29Why should it be the customer or the consumer who is charged,
- 3:35or who is told that it is their responsibility to find someone to do it?
- 3:43This is what happened a few months ago with Service Ontario.
- 3:49When the customer agent told me, you got to find someone to help you or to
- 3:55assist you to complete the form.
- 3:57And I said, absolutely not in the most courteous way that I could.
- 4:02I said, no, it is not my responsibility.
- 4:04It is yours. What I had to do was to phone again and again until I found some really
- 4:13helpful Agents supported.
- 4:16Agents were supportive agents who assisted me to complete and submit my form to renew my
- 4:24company's business. So what is being affected here?
- 4:32Is it a lack of work ethic on the part of the said agent,
- 4:39or is it an unwillingness on the part of the customer to find someone?
- 4:48What is it really? Again, I'm going to put myself out on a limb and to
- 4:54say it is the responsibility of the customer agent to assist the customer who requires
- 5:04assistance to find a solution, not simply say go off and get someone to
- 5:11assist you. That's my opinion.
- 5:17Okay. Now, I want to end my podcast today with someone who sent in this story to me
- 5:27by telling me that they were a scam victim.
- 5:32So many of us are scam victims, but when you have a disability and you find
- 5:37yourself having been scammed by somebody, by a scammer,
- 5:44a really terrible scammer, it hurts even more.
- 5:52And this person told me this story, sending this story to me because they wanted
- 5:57me to know that when they were scammed and in order to get over their circumstance,
- 6:05they used the hints and tips from my mental stretch to help them out.
- 6:12I've been preaching for many years now that my mental stretch can be used in many ways to
- 6:19deal with very Unexpected and horrible circumstances.
- 6:26What did this victim do?
- 6:28Well, after realizing that they had been scammed and after realizing that they had to
- 6:36do a lot of homework to retrieve their money,
- 6:41they sat down and they used my mental stretch strategies,
- 6:48which were using the sense of smell, the sense of hearing,
- 6:53the sense of touch and the sense of taste, and sit down and meditate on favorite senses
- 7:01of touch, taste, smell, hearing, and sight.
- 7:06Okay. The five senses.
- 7:08This is what this poor old victim did.
- 7:11It helped them to stabilize their minds, to stabilize their actions,
- 7:19to stabilize what they were going to do with regard to having been scammed.
- 7:27An unwitting victim who had a disability.
- 7:33I'm just happy that my mental stretch continues to help people to deal with very
- 7:40unexpected circumstances.
