- 0:00Hey, hey soul tribe, welcome back to Peace in a Pod.
- 0:04I am Loretta and thank you so much for tuning in today.
- 0:10So I wanted to share a couple weeks ago, several weeks ago, me
- 0:16and my hubs went out to Puerto Rico and we had an amazing time.
- 0:22I got to spend time with my bestie, Vicky.
- 0:25Love you girl. And we, we, I was able to show
- 0:33him more of the island. There was some, some areas that
- 0:37he didn't get to a lot of areas that he didn't get to explore
- 0:41The first time we went because we only went for a week.
- 0:44This time it was 2 weeks. So we were able to venture out a
- 0:46lot further and do a lot more and oh, and if there are any
- 0:55listeners that are fans of craft beer, quick shout out to Box Lab
- 1:01Brewery, La Taberna, Lupulo, Ocean Lab, Fog Brewing, Miramar
- 1:10Brewing, Old Harbor Brewery, Santurce Brewery, Service, Aria,
- 1:18Callejon and Eltap. If you haven't been to Puerto
- 1:26Rico, you are missing out and you need to get out there and
- 1:32explore this this island and enjoy yourself some delicious
- 1:36craft beer. So many microbreweries out
- 1:39there. I was blown away because when I
- 1:41lived there, I left in 2015 when I lived there.
- 1:46Well, when I lived there, I wasn't really a big craft beer
- 1:51person, but I probably would have tried more if I would have
- 1:57known about craft beer. But yeah, if you're, if you
- 2:01haven't been there, you're missing out.
- 2:03You need to go. You need to check out the
- 2:04island. Beautiful people, beautiful
- 2:07food, beautiful place and beautiful drinks.
- 2:13But yeah, so we're able to explore more of the island and I
- 2:18was able to get some time in with my girl.
- 2:22But I wanted to talk about the self-care part of this because,
- 2:30you know, we think about how much time we're dedicating to
- 2:33work and how much energy we putting into work.
- 2:38And you feel like you don't ever get anything back.
- 2:40You're just kind of like going and going.
- 2:42And it's just like, when am I going to get a break and not
- 2:47feel so exhausted all the time? And you know, it was my
- 2:53husband's idea to go back to PR because we went prior the first
- 2:59visit that he, he went with me was prior to us getting married.
- 3:05So now he was able to, to experience more and do more on
- 3:10the island. So it was a very, very fun trip.
- 3:15We got some much needed beach time.
- 3:17And I love being by the beach. I love being near oceans.
- 3:23I love the water. It is the most soothing,
- 3:25soothing place on earth for me. I just love the sound of the
- 3:32water, the feel of the water, the feel of the sand, the wind.
- 3:38I don't know, I just love it. I'm a beach person and I could
- 3:41just live on the beach forever, but the the energy that I feel
- 3:45when I'm out there, it's like rejuvenating.
- 3:50That's the only way I can explain it.
- 3:51I feel like I'm rejuvenating when I'm at the beach.
- 3:56And taking care of our mental, physical, emotional and
- 4:07spiritual pillars are very, very important.
- 4:14We don't want to overdo and extend ourselves so much to the
- 4:24point of depletion. And you have to be able to keep
- 4:29that balance, keep a balance somewhere to where you enjoy
- 4:37your work, but you also enjoy your personal time.
- 4:43And you need that personal time away from work in order to like
- 4:53cleanse and refresh and reset. So don't forget about you.
- 4:59You are the key component. And if you're not in the right
- 5:03place mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually, then
- 5:09how can you be of service to others?
- 5:15You have to be in the right space with these pillars in
- 5:23order for you to be of service to others.
- 5:27If you're constantly giving and draining, then you're not even
- 5:30going to be any good for yourself.
- 5:33You know, prior to heading out to PR, my hubs and I, we
- 5:40actually went camping with some friends like that weekend prior
- 5:47to us leaving and well, weekend kind of went into the the week.
- 5:53But just being out in nature, being out in what Mother Nature
- 6:02would, what is God's creation like, what is provided from the
- 6:09earth, from the land is for me the most soothing environment.
- 6:16Now I will say when I was younger, I was just like, first
- 6:20of all, I don't camp. Like camping is crazy, like
- 6:24wildlife, crazy people out there in the woods, like I'm not going
- 6:28out there. I thought it was just like some,
- 6:31some craziness. But the older I got and the more
- 6:35connected with nature that I became, the more interested I
- 6:41was. And one of my friends that I
- 6:42used to work with when I was in human resources, he is a him and
- 6:49his wife are very big campers. So they invited us and, you
- 6:54know, we had a great time the first time.
- 6:56So we went again. And I'm like, I can actually get
- 6:58into this camping thing. It's just so soothing, like
- 7:01being out there and, you know, looking at the stars and feeling
- 7:05the wind and hitting some trails.
- 7:08Your mind is like so clear and free and just being like we
- 7:13were, we were on a, on a, a mountain.
- 7:16So just being up there, it's so freeing.
- 7:21And you know, I just felt so relaxed and calm and it was like
- 7:28a little reset. Now I don't have the craziness
- 7:33from the previous work environment, the toxicity that I
- 7:37was going through that is no longer in my life.
- 7:41But to just be able to get out of the house and just connect
- 7:46with nature, It's just a very freeing feeling and a refreshing
- 7:52feeling that I just enjoy and just kind of like dumping all
- 7:58your cares and worries, like just leave it with the land,
- 8:03just set it free. And when you come back, you feel
- 8:06great. I mean, when I go out in nature,
- 8:08my, I am talking up a storm. I'm releasing everything that's
- 8:12in me that could be of any concern and just letting it go
- 8:17with nature, you know, I just leave it with the land.
- 8:25And I always feel refreshed and rejuvenated when I come back
- 8:32from a nature trip. Always.
- 8:36And I've been getting into like bird watching a lot more, which
- 8:40is not something I've ever really care to do.
- 8:43But the more I get out in nature and like start walking trails, I
- 8:48start seeing these birds that I don't recognize, the more
- 8:50curious I become. I'm a Leo, so I am quite curious
- 8:54about things. But, you know, I just been kind
- 8:58of curious of like the types of birds that live here.
- 9:03So yeah, I've been like really interested in the birds.
- 9:07When I hear them, I'm like, if I don't recognize the sound, I'll,
- 9:11you know, try to find the bird and see what it is.
- 9:14But yeah, you know, I just wanted to talk about self-care
- 9:18and just make sure that we are all applying in some way, shape
- 9:24or form some attention to ourselves in a self-care manner.
- 9:32And for me, my number one thing is getting out in nature.
- 9:37One of the best relaxing ways and quickest ways that I can
- 9:42just feel cleansed and recharged.
- 9:48Just so beautiful. But anyways, just know that
- 9:51sometimes you need to disconnect from everything and focus on
- 9:55yourself in order for you to continue to live a healthy,
- 10:02loving, balanced life. So go outside and get grounded
- 10:08with nature. It doesn't matter if you're
- 10:11hugging a tree, standing barefoot on the ground.
- 10:16Just whatever you do, take care of yourself.
- 10:22Thanks again for tuning in to Peace in a Pod.
