  Judge Kevin Mullins. We've done something like 40

  videos on this. And Elizabeth, I know you've

  done way more coverage on this than anybody else, but just to

  give everybody a quick primer, Judge Kevin Mullins was a
• 2:25
  District Court judge in Letcher County, Kentucky when in
• 2:29
  September of last year, his sheriff, his, I don't know if
• 2:34
  you'd call them friends, but Co worker for a long, long time man
• 2:39
  named Sean Mickey Steins. Here he is in court.

  He walked into the judge's office and he went Bang Bang,
• 2:48
  pow pow 9 times and killed the judge.
• 2:54
  Now, there's been a lot of fallout in in Letcher County
• 2:59
  specifically because it seems like some stuff was going on out
• 3:04
  there that you wouldn't expect to go on.
• 3:08
  And so when we talked when we're talking about Lila Stein's, let
• 3:11
  me bring up a let's see. Hopefully you guys can see this.

  This is a TikTok video that we're going to watch here in a
• 3:18
  second. Lila Steins is now 18 years old.

  She is the daughter of Mickey Steins.
• 3:22
  There were rumors. And indeed, it wasn't just
• 3:25
  rumors, was it, Elizabeth? It was brought up in court in
• 3:29
  the preliminary hearing that there may have been an
• 3:33
  inappropriate relationship between Kevin Mullins and Lila
• 3:37
  Steins, who was a minor at the time.
• 3:40
  And I think that was kind of that rumor.
• 3:42
  And what they talked about in court was kind of bolstered by
• 3:45
  the fact that Mickey Stein's called her from Kevin Mullen's
• 3:50
  phone before he shot him. Am I?
• 3:53
  Am I saying that right? Am I characterizing that
• 3:55
  correctly you think? I think the phone, the phone
• 3:58
  call from the judge's chambers is what spawned that rumor about
• 4:07
  the judge. I think it was because everybody
• 4:11
  was trying to make sense of what had happened.
• 4:16
  And so I think kind of having the judge having the reputation
• 4:22
  that he had in the in the community and you accompany that
• 4:31
  with him, Mickey being so concerned with that phone call,
• 4:37
  with calling his daughter and then him using the judge's phone
• 4:44
  to actually make that phone call.

  I think all of that combined is what kind of led people to try
• 4:54
  and come up with a reason of why Mickey would have done what he
• 5:02
  did. Yeah, connecting dots that
• 5:05
  weren't necessarily there, right.

  Yeah. Well, and one of the things that
• 5:10
  I was thinking about is like when Taya Adams told her story,
• 5:15
  it became apparent to me that or at least it appeared to me
• 5:21
  apparent and appeared mean the same thing.

  OK. So either way, that well, one in

  Kentucky, the age of consent is 16 years old, not 18 years old.

  That that's one of the things that kind of hit me.

  And then you're right, the reputation of the judge for
• 5:40
  having relationships with with minors basically is certainly
• 5:45
  LED a lot of us down that path of thinking that there, there
• 5:49
  are dots here that need to be connected.

  Yeah, well, he was a womanizer, I reckon, you know, And he was
• 5:57
  married, you know, so. And his wife was very much

  younger than him as well. She was barely legal herself
• 6:08
  when they got married so. Yeah, yeah.

  talking to a lot of locals that are, that are rumour mongering

  and gossiping. I am trying really hard on in my

  life and on my channel to not engage in that.

  She's always been beautiful, her and her mommy through the years.

  daughter that looked like her, I'd do that too.

  You know, I just proud I'd be wanting to take pictures of her

  I kind of figure her with her age, there is a certain amount

  of grace that I'm going to extend her because if any of

  y'all knew me at 18, many of y'all would like me.

  Me too, me too. So I, I, I think, I think about

  the adults that were in my life when I was 1617, eighteen, 1920

  years old, right around in there, right, man, the patients

  that they had, they had to extend.

  And, and so I don't know that I'm even offended at all because

  because of the person that it's coming from.

  And that is not a slide on her that just the age of the person

  that it's coming from. But also, I mean, that's got to

  suck day in and day out. Her dad's on trial for the
• 15:12
  murder of of Kevin Mullins. Yeah, but this is my thing.

  I think the anger has been unfairly instead of, you know,
• 15:26
  the focus being on all this corruption, the crimes that have
• 15:31
  been committed and the victims, like we are talking in the
• 15:37
  hundreds of victims here because it's not, it's not been just
• 15:43
  sexual abuse. You know, this has been
• 15:46
  financial. This has been, you know, you
• 15:50
  name it, what direction it goes into.

  Abuse of the legal system, Yeah. Yeah, it's been it's an
• 15:56
  organized, it's an organized crime syndicate here that we are
• 16:01
  talking about now. I noticed this social media
• 16:08
  trend several years ago. I recognized it.

  I saw what what path it was kind of taking.
• 16:17
  And like I said in my own testimony, I was like, hmm, I
• 16:22
  can do that. I can do what they're doing.

  And so I, you know, I kind of jumped onto it and now I'm on a

  year into it. So I've got a little bit of
• 16:33
  experience, you know, not much, but I got a little bit and I see
• 16:38
  that I can I see the same thing for anybody else that wants to
• 16:43
  do it. I recommend everybody start on

  my YouTube channel. I think anybody that's over 35

  years old, you have enough life experience in something, some
• 16:57
  thing that you could do a show on, you know, your own little

  thing. TikTok nowadays.

  I mean, you could, you can make money, make a, an income just

  videoing yourself, making your coffee in the morning.

  I mean, if you can make it a creative enough way to where

  people want to watch it, you know you're going to be able to

  get a, you're going to create your own job.

  Yeah, we shouldn't be ashamed of that, right?

  I mean. No, a YouTube everybody and I

  knew that I was going to have to go through this, this period of,

  you know, time where everybody, I was going to be completely

  socially, socially isolated people were going to, you know,
• 17:45
  I was going to have to face these people in the grocery

  store. I'm going to have to face these
• 17:50
  people in Walmart, you know, you, whatever you have to, you
• 17:55
  know, be willing to go through the and, and live the
• 18:00
  consequences of it. But I knew that this was just
• 18:05
  going to take a, a, an introduction period.

  You know, it was just going to, it was new.

  It was something new that people weren't used to around here.

  And so I, I kind of felt like a trailblazer.

  I still do. I still do feel like we're,

  we're trying to do something that's never been done before.

  You know we are crowdsourcing our own investigation into
• 18:29
  Letcher County corruption. And that is new for sure.

  And I, I have to say that anytime, not just not just Lila

  Stein's here, who again, she just, she just looks like a
• 18:43
  delightful young woman. So no slide on her.

  I think she's probably awesome. But anytime like I'm thinking

  about the Riverside County District Attorney and the
• 18:55
  sheriff being so angry in the Emanuel Harrow case at all the
• 18:59
  social media and lumping us all together.

  And I thought, well, yeah, he's talking about me.

  But what he's really talking about are all the people on in
• 19:09
  that case. It was all TikTok that are just
• 19:12
  rumor mongering, right? And I think that I think that
• 19:16
  the long form format of YouTube lends itself to longer periods
• 19:24
  of reasoning things out. I'm trying to figure things out
• 19:29
  over the course of a long conversation instead of a just,
• 19:34
  you know, 10. Seconds, yeah.

  Repeating rumors that that were long ago debunked.

  But like we said in the beginning, Elizabeth, I don't

  think that it's unreasonable that we thought those things in
• 19:47
  the beginning before we before we had more information.

  Yeah, no, I don't think it was unreasonable at all that that

  was the first thing that was brought out.

  You know, there were other there's been other things that

  have kind of been skipped over as well with this whole thing.

  and. And I it kind of made me think,

  that. So the first thing I want to say

  is I had good intentions with that video.

  A lot of you were asking what stories, what do you mean by

  gossip? And what I mean by that is the

  stories that were made-up about me and the other party.

  And that is where the gossip comes in at.

  I wasn't actually talking about the situation and what actually

  happened itself. I was more leaning towards the
• 21:23
  rumors that had been spread about me.

  I am aware of how serious this is and how much of a big deal it

  is. I was not talking about news or
• 21:33
  social media. I was simply talking about the
• 21:36
  people who sit at home behind a keyboard all day and say
• 21:41
  terrible things about my name. That's who I was talking about.

  At the end of the day, I'm just human.

  I'm just trying to learn how to process and cope with it all.

  I do want to add one more thing a lot of you were saying.

  Girl, this happened a year ago. Like why are you still going on

  about it? I think this is a good point.

  I knew it happened a year ago. For me, when I wake up, it's the

  first thing I see on my phone, it's the last thing I see when I

  lay down and I'm not looking for it.

  It's just right in my face. I have to deal with it every day

  when I wake up. So no, it's not gone, it's not

  died down. It won't for a while.

  Yeah, she's probably right. It probably won't die down for a

  good long time for her. But here's the thing.

  Now see, this is where I'm the bad guy.

  I I feel like, oh, lay it on me, Elizabeth Jones, bad guy.

  Feel like I'm the big bad wolf here.

  You know, she's lived such a sheltered life.

  You know that, that I mean, which this is huge, but how many

  of us lost our dads? You know, how many of us had

  perv dads? Or you know, how many of us were
• 22:56
  went through tragedy after tragedy after tragedy?

  You know, we were just human, too.

  Nobody was stopping and nobody give a damn that we had kids,

  you know, or nobody cared to splatter us all over the
• 23:11
  newspaper. And nobody cared, you know,
• 23:15
  nobody was stepping out and trying to help us.

  And you know what I mean? There were there's so many
• 23:21
  people that have been through such horrible traumas in their
• 23:27
  life. And like a lot of these SA
• 23:30
  victims, you know, I'm a survivor of sexual abuse.
• 23:35
  I'm also a survivor of domestic violence.
• 23:40
  We, we also every day, it's the first thing that you think of
• 23:47
  when you wake up and it's the last thing that you think about
• 23:50
  before you go to bed, you know, usually crying yourself to sleep
• 23:55
  and you know, a lot. I think that there's just so
• 23:58
  many of us. And whenever something like this
• 24:03
  happens, then I feel like it's just there's so much compassion
• 24:12
  and there's so much grace and there's so much open doors for
• 24:20
  them, you know, and their grief. And it's like, well, what about
• 24:25
  everybody else? You know, What makes them and
• 24:28
  their grief so special, so much more special than everybody
• 24:32
  else's? Is that bad?
• 24:34
  Is that horrible? It's me.

  No, it's not. I I don't want to give like, OK,
• 24:41
  I have a response to this, but I'm going to be careful because

  it's not really my story to tell, but OK, I have AI have a
• 24:50
  cousin who is just as much a brother to me as my brothers.

  My parents and my grandparents raised him and, and I love him
• 24:58
  to death and, and, and he is, you know, he's he's amazing.

  He's terrific anyway. And then my own father lost his
• 25:09
  dad when he was like 7 years old.

  And so the story is that my cousin was kind of like
• 25:16
  complaining to my dad. Why, why does my life have to be
• 25:19
  so hard? How come Gavin like got parents
• 25:22
  that loved him? And how come, you know, my, my
• 25:25
  life was so hard? And my dad was like, you're not
• 25:30
  the first person who has ever had to struggle with their
• 25:34
  parents. My dad died.

  I was seven years old. I've lived without a father for
• 25:41
  however many years it was at the time, right.
• 25:44
  And, but think about, think about me and Aunt Shawna and
• 25:49
  Grandpa and grandma and all the other people who love you, you
• 25:52
  know, so it's like that. I think that is, I think it's a
• 25:54
  natural thing in youth to, to want to commiserate.

  And maybe this is kind of a modern phrase for it, but like
• 26:08
  just kind of bathe in your victimhood a little bit.

  I, I think that's a natural thing when you're, when you're
• 26:14
  younger and it takes long experience of going through
• 26:19
  really hard things to be able to recognize.

  Oh my goodness. Although all around me there are
• 26:25
  people going through really hard things.

  I don't know. That's kind of my point.

  That's kind of my point. Judge Mullins's wife kind of
• 26:39
  chased me around Jenkins one time months ago.

  It's been months ago. But you know, she she didn't
• 26:49
  want to be on my show. Of course, you know, she wanted
• 26:53
  to yell at me and make a scene and try and shame and embarrass
• 27:01
  me in front of everybody, which it didn't turn out the way that
• 27:05
  she thought it was going to. You know, I'm a very nice
• 27:12
  person, I think, but you get what you give me.

  You know, if you come at me in a certain way, you're going to get
• 27:22
  it right back. And I don't think she'd ever had
• 27:25
  any bark, anybody bark right back at her, you know, And it,
• 27:31
  it just didn't turn out the way that she thought it was going to
• 27:35
  do. And then the other night, and

  then the other night last week. I'm not going to say who it was
• 27:43
  yet, but another one of Mullins is Harem.

  That that's what I'm going to call it tonight.

  Anyway, She has a child that is also at our school and we were

  up there picking up our kids from ball practice.

  And she decided that she would confront me and said that why

  was I using this picture, this specific picture?

  And I was like, and at first I didn't even know who she was.

  I had no idea who I was like hi, how are you?

  And she said who she was and I still didn't even put it
• 28:35
  together. I was like, well it's nice to

  meet you. And finally she was shaking all

  over, just shaking. And she's very passive
• 28:45
  aggressive. You could tell she was pissed
• 28:49
  and she was wanting to confront me, but she was not loud.

  She I get real excited. If I was doing something like

  that, my voice would get raised, you know, and you'd probably
• 29:00
  think I was yelling at you. But really it was, it's just the

  excitement, you know, the adrenaline or whatever.

  She never did her she, her voice never did get raised up or
• 29:10
  anything. And I bet when she said it I was
• 29:14
  like, hmm, I know what picture you're talking about, I said.

  But I've only used that once or twice in a thumbnail and I'm

  pretty good about blurring the faces on those.

  And then her kid came out and started yelling at me and they

  said they had screenshots of this.
