Dr. Patak has worked in the healthcare industry for over 30 years and is currently a Pediatric Anesthesiologist at University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Children's Hospital. He spent his early years working as a nursing assistant at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and UCLA Medical Center, which is where he researched communication problems with mechanically ventilated patients and helped bring to market the Vidatak EZ Board, an evidence-based communication tool for intubated and non-verbal patients.
