- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Okay, so for those that watching on YouTube and those that listening, I I don't know why my hair is so shiny.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: I looked at just now.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: I wish y'all would have told me this earlier.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: Y'all got me out here looking like a goddamn crystal ball on these videos, and nobody tell me how shiny my hair was.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know if it's the overhead light, because like it's like the shine is falling in my head.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: That's what it looked like.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: So I need to figure out how.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: I probably just put some, you know, some pile powder.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: God dang it, powder on top of my head.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: I need to learn how to say powder.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Put some powder on top of my head, and then that should help out.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: You know, put some makeup.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Let me see if I tape a glass.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Oh God.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't see nothing about these glasses close up.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It is, ooh, man, I really need glasses.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, but anyway, let me go.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: So um, I know last week I told y'all that, you know, I'm training for an NFL, right?
- 1:02SPEAKER_00: But you know, uh-uh, I'm I'm fake training.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: Like I said, I'm still on this internet.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: I just need to stay off the internet.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: Now I realize that these algorithms are getting me these days and having me watch stuff that is just hilarious.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: I can understand how people do stroll now.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: You know, I never understand it, but if you watch something that just keeps watching you, I can understand it.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: But anyway, um, as usual, you know, like I said, I was getting ready for the NFL, just joking, okay?
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: But I am getting back in shape.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: And I realized that, you know, as my journey gets back in shape to try to make sure I do good for all these things.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: I think I told y'all I started with a tough mother.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: But the tough mother, thank God, got canceled, okay?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Um, because of stream heat, you know, but there's the only time I'm glad that, you know, stream heat came out and, you know, canceled something for me.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: But I still still gonna train for the tough mother because I still do marathons once a month.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: So I still run.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: So, but I want to make sure that I'm in shape enough to get it.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: But as I'm getting this shape, there are complications with this.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: And I tell people all the time, you know, it's a lot of things in the world to die from, okay?
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Um, and some of my friends, you know, they they like to go to the bar and drink alcohol, you know, within moderation.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: You know, some of them like to go and, you know, like I said, smoke cigars in one of my episodes, but I don't know how people stay in the cigar bar forever.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: It's like a cloud of smoke killing me.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: The the vibe in the cigar bars is great, but I I can't take the smoke like I used to in my younger days.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: So I can do it every now and then.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: But as I get to my story, I might tell you.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: So what I went and did, I went onto the internet and I started looking more into my diet.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: You know, not that I'm trying to lose weight, I'm trying to make sure that I eat the right things to keep my energy up as I go forward.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Because any of y'all know that after 40, when you work out a lot, it takes a lot of you.
- 3:05SPEAKER_00: Man, I'm telling you, it takes so much energy.
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: Because if you live a normal life like most of us good hardwork Americans do, you know, but since I'm in the military, I have to wake up and be the formation most mornings at 0, 6.30.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: So since I'm slow, I have to wake up at least an hour and a half prior to the time I have to be there.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Because the drive from my house to base is about maybe 20, 25 minutes.
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I stay a little pretty good distance.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Even though I drive, you know, a little bit over the speed limit.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I'm I'm gonna say maybe 10 to 5, 5 to 15, 15 to 20 miles over the speed limit.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: It all depends on how many cops I think are gonna be out today.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Because I don't want no tickets neither.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: So, but I need to get to work or well, it's not trying to get to work on time or get work fast.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: It's people drive horrible around military bases.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: You know, they just drive people in period drive horrible.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: So if you're in a military base or in a major city, people just drive horrible.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: But I'm rambling.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Okay, let me let me get to this stuff.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: But um I wake up at 6, you know.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: Well, I wake up about 4:30, get ready for six, because like I said, I move slow.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: I go work a whole day of work, get off work round by like, I'm gonna say 1,700, five for y'all civilian people.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: And then I try to do a couple things around the house.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Nothing real thing.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: You know, we get home, get silly, you know, you're gonna wind down.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: And then I try to hit the gym.
- 4:36SPEAKER_00: I try to be in the gym by at least 1930 or 7:30 for y'all civilians.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Even though in the morning now, I do my mornings, I run in the morning.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: In the afternoons, I do my weightlifting because I can't do both because it's the time restraint because I have to be to work at a certain time.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Even though I go to PT, well, physical training in the morning, uh accountability, whatever you want to call it, I only can do but so much in the time frame that I have to be the actual work work at nine.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: So that's why I usually lift weights in the afternoon.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: But it takes a lot out of you.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And reading up on the internet, I read that, you know, it's certain foods that you can eat and the way you change your diet, certain vitamins you can take and stuff like that.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: And I realized while I was doing the research that it's a couple problems with this stuff.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: I don't know if any of y'all try to eat healthy in your lifestyle or try to change your life to eat healthy.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Eating healthy is extremely expensive.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: I I didn't realize how healthy eating was.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: You know, I I like I still like noodles.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know if y'all have Roman noodles.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: I cook a pack of Roman noodles and be fine.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You know, but Roman noodles don't cost that much.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: That's why it's called the poor man food.
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: But the poor man food tastes good.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: Um, it is it costs more to eat healthy than to eat at McDonald's.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: So that may be$7 to$10 that you spend at McDonald's when you go to a healthy restaurant, time that times three.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: So, and that's just for one person.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: And that that's just to show you how much the price of food and everything is going up.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: But the price of healthy food, you know, like you want to make sure that your food got no dyes, I guess, on that stuff, whatever you believe, but whatever is healthy, like buying fresh fruit, um, fresh vegetables and stuff like that, that stuff actually costs more than buying the juice that just made with artificial coloring, which I would never stand.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Like, they in this day and time, they want more and more people to eat healthier, but you make it so expensive that we can't eat healthy.
- 6:55SPEAKER_00: The majority of people can't eat healthy, and then the stuff that you got to make healthy, sometimes it's not quick to make.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: You got to take it out.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: What y'all gonna stand?
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: You got to get the pros and cons against this stuff, you know.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: I understand that if you're gonna eat healthy, it might take you a little more time to do it.
- 7:11SPEAKER_00: But for some of us time-conscious people or people that's like got a busy lifestyle that unfortunately have to do multiple things throughout during the day, sometimes, you know, it it kind of takes a long while to do some of that stuff.
- 7:25SPEAKER_00: So when you day packed, like I say, I wake up, um, I'm saying I was so I'll say I gotta be at 6:30.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: So six, five.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: So I wake up at five.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: And like I said, I'm slow.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I gotta get out of the house at least by six to get there on time, because like I tell you earlier, it's a 20-minute drive.
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: But I'm already up at 5.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: And if I if you think about either the hours, like 5 to 5, that's 12 hours already.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: I'm already up.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: So by the end of the day, I'm done.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: And I'm trying to eat healthier, thinking that it will help me out, you know, to get my energy, but eating healthier costs more, especially when I can go to that shop or that corner store, you're like, like I said, and pick up me a$3 sandwich that I shouldn't have been eating anyway.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, I don't know if y'all eat sandwiches out of a gas station.
- 8:19SPEAKER_00: Most times they're not the best thing you should be eating, but they they are delicious.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: I I they they are so delicious.
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: And then you look at um, you know, like I like Panero bread.
- 8:29SPEAKER_00: Oh, Panero bread is delicious, but but expensive.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: You know, I I never pay so much for a Panero bread sandwich in my life.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: So I'm looking at that gas station sandwich that's maybe, you know, three, three to four dollars, versus that Panero bread sandwich that's like$20.
- 8:49SPEAKER_00: You know, both of them are bread and meat with some lettuce and stuff, but the healthy option costs you way more than that junk food option.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: And I don't even know what's going on sometimes.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: So yeah, you gotta think about that.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: So I'm still in the journey.
- 9:05SPEAKER_00: I I and I did start a garden in the backyard, but unfortunately, well, and I say I, I mean my daughter.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: Um, neither one of us, well, I don't have a green thumb.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: She can grow stuff, but she's a lazy guardian.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: She she can't be a lazy garden person because you gotta chill in that garden every day.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: I I don't think either one of us went out there and checked on that garden this week.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: Okay, so um let me see.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Yep, yep, this week.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's been about four days.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: So we I need to do better and she needs to do better.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: But we need to start growing stuff in our yard that can help me eat better.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: But that's the that's the whole point when you think you're the kicker, especially before, you can't eat all the stuff that you did when you was younger.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: And I'm starting to realize that I can't eat as much as I did when I was younger.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: That's why I hope in a couple years I'll go ahead and get that senior citizen discount so that I won't be paying all that much money for the healthy food.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: But by then, who knows?
- 10:04SPEAKER_00: I in 20 years, I probably won't be running like this or working out like this no more.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: Probably just gonna do the bare minimum, you know, walk in the morning with my little stick, you know, with my headphones on and try to pay attention to not get hit in the road.
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: But as of now, I have to find some better, healthier options to keep me going through.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: But although I am hitting the healthy options, and like I say, it's getting better.
- 10:31SPEAKER_00: I realize that I still got that junk food craze because even though I'm trying to eat better and eat healthier, y'all, have y'all seen a cheeseburger?
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: I mean, I mean a real good cheeseburger.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: I mean the one with the the the it's like a half pound of real beef.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: Now, I'm not going, you know, just crane Burger K or Hardy's or McDonald's, but when you get a real beef burger from a mom and pop place and the burger is about this big, and you got to literally scratch your mouth, like get your mouth ready for it.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: Scratch it like all four to five ways of thin to giving and put it in your mouth.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: And when you bite them into it, the juices of the burger come down the side of your mouth.
- 11:14SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's delicious.
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: I might go get me a burger after this.
- 11:18SPEAKER_00: See, but that's the thing I'm talking about.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: So, but as even though the like I say earlier, the healthier foods cost more, some of them taste as great as the unhealthy foods.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Just like I'm talking about that burger.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: I love to eat stuff that got flavor and stuff on it.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: So it the healthy food has to make, in my opinion, two improvements.
- 11:39SPEAKER_00: And not all healthy food is bad, you know, or tastes bad, but most of it is expensive.
- 11:46SPEAKER_00: But you gotta think about expensive costs of the healthy food, cost period of food actually going up.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: So that we gotta be price conscious, you know.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, I'm not a millionaire yet.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna keep trying every day, but until that day comes, I have to, you know, think about how much money I'm gonna invest in this health food journey because I do need to invest money into it to get better, but I have to, you know, for thing the way and make sure I get better.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: And then it got to taste better, you know.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: I'm just saying that burger, that healthy salad, or that burger.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: And I even talking about salads, even salads these days costs a lot.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: I don't know if you went to Chick-fil-A lake.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: They got like a Caesar salad or a garden salad.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: I don't know, it's a salad with some chicken on it.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: So it got the best of both worlds.
- 12:35SPEAKER_00: You got some chicken, that fried chicken, you know, that freaking Chick-fil-a chicken.
- 12:40SPEAKER_00: Oh, delicious.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: And the salad, you know, and dressing.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I I get too much dressing, so that's probably that's why I say it's probably borderline.
- 12:49SPEAKER_00: I need to look at what I'm eating, because that's borderline delicious and thing.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: Because something like that shouldn't taste that delicious if I'm getting it.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: So we'll we'll see.
- 12:57SPEAKER_00: We'll we'll we'll get there.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: But um, we have to figure out these price things.
- 13:03SPEAKER_00: So if you got any suggestions or a list of healthy foods that you can help me out on my journey, please send it my way.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: Since discussion.
- 13:11SPEAKER_00: Because I know I'm not the only one trying to eat better as we grow older.
- 13:16SPEAKER_00: But as we grow older, we want to make sure that we know spending a fortune on eating better and then trying things that we never eaten before that might not taste delicious.
- 13:28SPEAKER_00: So that's two of our battles.
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: The internet is great when doing research, but there's nothing like, you know, people that actually taste test and try are professional people.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Or there's a lot of people out there that still work on.
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: I know a lot of y'all young people out there that's listening, you know, y'all do that healthy life and eating and stuff like that.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Y'all got it packed down.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: But that's coming from real life experience.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: That's that's what I'm asking for.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: When when at the end of this episode, when y'all put your comments, give me some of that real life experience about what should I eat and what stuff is good for my over 40 group to help us, you know, eat better as we go into um gracefully age and try to stay in shape as we get older.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: That is, you know, not expensive and actually tastes delicious.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, like I said earlier, the bad food is delicious.
- 14:19SPEAKER_00: Burgers, ribs, fried chicken, um, those twist dips, you know, we get the thing, we get to dip in the gravy.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: Oh yes.
- 14:30SPEAKER_00: Um, I don't know if you're having seafood balls, seafood ball.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: Oh, see, I'm getting hungry now, I'm thinking about it.
- 14:35SPEAKER_00: But, you know, I know what stuff to eat, but I I really don't, I'm not an expert.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: So that's what I'm asking for.
- 14:43SPEAKER_00: Help out there for this episode for y'all people.
- 14:45SPEAKER_00: Come back.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Let me know in the comments.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: Cause it was one of actually the topic suggestions that got closer to it.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: It just wasn't 100% what I'm talking about now, about eating healthy.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: So they talk about eating healthy, but you know, I'm I'm I'm going by how expensive it is and you know the taste of this healthy food.
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: Because, you know, like I don't know if you have any rice cake.
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's the last thing I was here, rice cake.
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Just try rice cake and let me know how you feel.
- 15:10SPEAKER_00: Without no peanut butter.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Just regular rice cake, no peanut butter.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: And you talking about the one that got um cinnamon and stuff on, just regular rice cake.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: And let me know how that works out for you, okay?
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: But thank you for the comments.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: Um, until next time, um, thanks for rocking me, listening.
- 15:27SPEAKER_00: Comments, shares, topic suggestions are always welcome.
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: Come and join this conversation and help me spread the knowledge and make sure that us as a community keep growing.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Until next time.
- 15:39SPEAKER_00: I'll see you.
