Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to Performance Driven Living, the podcast where we question everything.
- 0:05We don't tip to around tough topics, we walk right into them, not to provoke, but to
- 0:11get closer to what's real.
- 0:13You might not agree with everything you hear, and that's okay.
- 0:17The show isn't about being right, it's about being real.
- 0:20These conversations are meant to stretch your thinking, challenge assumptions, and spark
- 0:25something deeper.
- 0:26The views shared are those of our guests and may not reflect those of the host or team.
- 0:32And while we dive deep into health, performance, and transformation, this is not medical advice.
- 0:38Talk to your doctor before making changes to your health or lifestyle.
- 0:42Take what lands, leave what doesn't, but whatever you do, don't stop questioning.
- 0:56We are here at the Performance Driven Living Podcast, I'm your host Mark Young, and we
- 1:00are joined today by a good friend and incredible soul.
- 1:04Her name is Dr. Shavani Gupta and Shavani.
- 1:08I always say this when everybody comes in, and that is our team puts together these
- 1:12introductions, and it doesn't matter what I could make up about you, they write these
- 1:16intros that are much better than I would ever do, so you're going to have to forgive
- 1:19me because I always read them.
- 1:21Sure.
- 1:22Good.
- 1:23And it says, I'm joined by a woman who blends the ancient with the cutting edge, Shavani
- 1:28Gupta.
- 1:29She's an Ayurvedic practitioner, entrepreneur, and founder of fusionary formulas for work
- 1:34bridges traditional Indian wisdom and modern wellness, especially when it comes to inflammation
- 1:40and the power of turmeric, Shavani, welcome to the show.
- 1:43Thank you.
- 1:44Thanks for having me.
- 1:45I appreciate that.
- 1:46And I love these intros.
- 1:47They always have it so perfectly spelled out.
- 1:50And I would like clumsy my way through it.
- 1:52Sure.
- 1:53Me too.
- 1:54Well, Shavani here on performance driven learning, I always say that my goal here is to always
- 1:57learn something, but I say that, so anybody who listens knows this and that is, I'm always
- 2:02questioning everything, right?
- 2:04I was that kid.
- 2:05Yeah.
- 2:06I was the kid who disassembled things just to see how it was put together and right was
- 2:09been that way for me, because I disassemble everything.
- 2:12So in my learning, usually it's a reverse engineering.
- 2:17And I am absolutely fascinated by the practice of Ayurveda.
- 2:22And I don't know.
- 2:23And nobody actually uses the word Ayurveda the way that Shavani does, because it's always
- 2:28perfectly pronounced.
- 2:29Yeah.
- 2:30And it makes me laugh.
- 2:31It's like, you know, the person who happens to speak French, who is always like, oh,
- 2:34well, we were all walking on the show, you say, it's like this perfect pronunciation,
- 2:38right?
- 2:39So you're a pronunciation of Ayurveda always impresses me.
- 2:43What is Ayurveda?
- 2:45Tell me what this is, because I hear this word a lot, particularly in the health space,
- 2:50and it sounds very woo-woo to me.
- 2:52Sure.
- 2:53And then I only kind of understand it.
- 2:54So it kind of started me off there.
- 2:57For sure.
- 2:58Ayurveda 101, great.
- 2:59Perfect, perfect.
- 3:00That's exactly what I mean.
- 3:01So Ayurveda is basically an ancient wisdom.
- 3:04It's a science.
- 3:05And Ayurveda means the science of life.
- 3:08So it's one of the ancient scriptures from India that outlined for us how we should live
- 3:14for longevity and for prevention.
- 3:17So it's like a blueprint, basically, of how to live, when to wake up, when to eat, when
- 3:22to sleep, all these things that nowadays, wellness and longevity, we're calling circadian
- 3:27clock, and circadian rhythm, and all these things.
- 3:30Ayurveda had a guide for us on, this is your constitution, understand your individual
- 3:36constitution based on the elements.
- 3:38We talked about your circadian clock customized to your primary elements.
- 3:43We talked about your gut health being the center of all health.
- 3:46So it's been amazing that in recent decades, everyone's like, microbiome and gut brain
- 3:51access.
- 3:52We're like, yeah, 5,000 years, we've been saying that thank you for proving it with modern
- 3:56science.
- 3:57That makes it easier for us to say what we're going to say.
- 3:59So Ayurveda always said that gut health is the center of your immune system, your brain,
- 4:03your mood, every single thing you want in life starts in the gut.
- 4:06Yeah.
- 4:07Then we talk a lot about self-care rituals and how these self-care rituals that you can
- 4:10do every day are detoxing and supporting of your longevity.
- 4:15Ayurveda is a sister science to yoga.
- 4:17And so whenever we talk about yoga and all that wisdom, and you want to take that yoga
- 4:21feeling off the mat that is your Ayurveda lifestyle.
- 4:24And then finally, I pull a lot from the super spices and super herbs because when I was
- 4:28sitting there in Ayurveda school, studying for my masters and they taught everything,
- 4:32I was like, okay, so you're going to tell me to do yoga, self-care, live in a rhythm,
- 4:37just to my dosha, optimize my gut, eat an amazing special yogic diet.
- 4:41All that's awesome.
- 4:42But then you're saying these herbs are like super foods?
- 4:45That's amazing because I have always come from a family of diabetes.
- 4:49How am I going to win at my health?
- 4:52These tools seem pretty amazing.
- 4:54So that's why I immediately pulled two market spices, but I love teaching everything
- 4:58else because you need to live the Ayurveda lifestyle.
- 5:01You can't just use the air.
- 5:03So first of all, thank you for unpacking Ayurveda for me.
- 5:06Yeah.
- 5:07Simply because I think I actually thought this was a, I didn't realize you used the
- 5:11word lifestyle.
- 5:12Yeah.
- 5:13But this was the constitution and I love that because I didn't understand that.
- 5:17So thank you for teaching it to me.
- 5:19But I wanted to one step further into that and that is we're talking about ancient wisdom.
- 5:23And a topic that's come up in my life a lot lately has been this idea that I've used
- 5:28to phrase unlearning a tremendous amount in the season of my life.
- 5:33And part of that unlearning is the fact of like modern science, if I can use that phrase
- 5:37because I think it's all sort of weird, but you know, current science, current discoveries.
- 5:42I'm laughing because we're calling them breakthroughs.
- 5:47And in fact, so much of what we're seeing today in science, especially how it's related
- 5:52science, but not just that, but even other types of sciences.
- 5:56Sure.
- 5:57It's ancient wisdom.
- 5:58Hey, like a topic came up.
- 6:00I was, I was talking to somebody, but a day about even, and then I know that you are
- 6:05a vegetarian.
- 6:06Yeah.
- 6:07Um, I personally eat very carnivore, right?
- 6:10So opposite ends of this spectrum.
- 6:12Yeah.
- 6:13But one of the things that's very, um, topical for me right now is this idea of humane
- 6:19treatment of animals.
- 6:21Sure.
- 6:22And, you know, prior to them being slaughtered for, for me.
- 6:25And the idea that cellular trauma is real, that, that animals that are killed in, in
- 6:32horrific environments, store cellular trauma that we end up eating.
- 6:37And it's like, I was having this conversation.
- 6:39You know, the doctor, Chris Molly is, yeah, love him.
- 6:42Yeah.
- 6:43And he and I actually were having this conversation.
- 6:44It's like, well, that's great.
- 6:45Like, I don't, I don't have a, a problem or any kind of issue with eating animals out
- 6:52this way.
- 6:53Like, that's not my issue.
- 6:55But I definitely wouldn't want them treated and humanely and to build them.
- 6:59And it's not just because I don't want to hurt anything, but at the same time, it's,
- 7:04it's unhealthy.
- 7:05Correct.
- 7:06Physically, it's unhealthy to do that.
- 7:07And it immediately made me think back like, well, the Jewish culture of, of kosher
- 7:13was or, or the Muslim laws of, of halal, and it was like, this isn't new information,
- 7:20guys.
- 7:21And we're like, oh, but cortisol levels are raised in animals if they're killed in stressful
- 7:26situations.
- 7:27And that passes along to the person who eats this meat and like, or maybe that was 5,000
- 7:32years old.
- 7:33Like, this isn't new information.
- 7:36Yeah.
- 7:37And it's so beautiful to watch the returning to the original of this stuff.
- 7:41You see that a lot in the US right now, like home-steading.
- 7:44Let's pickle our foods and put it in jars.
- 7:46I'm kind of watching all of them online.
- 7:48I have to admit, I'm not doing any of it.
- 7:50But as I watch them, like, build sellers full of pickled foods, I'm like, this was the
- 7:54original lifestyle we all had and we've gotten so far away from it that it is so problematic.
- 8:01And I think a lot about what you're talking about because although I'm vegetarian, I just
- 8:05open it up for my children to start eating meat.
- 8:08And so I, I really like flinch every time something's going in a way I don't imagine.
- 8:13For example, they'll throw things away, like they won't eat the chicken that's cooked
- 8:16for them.
- 8:17And, and I look at them like an animal died for you.
- 8:20I bought that for this house for you to eat and you're going to throw it in the trash.
- 8:26And it really triggers, like, I am a Hindu who believes that in Hindu and Buddhist who
- 8:30believes every life we impact matters on every level, whether I rip a lead out to the
- 8:37dairy in the cows, if you're talking about cortisol, I really think a lot about factory
- 8:41farms dairy in the United States.
- 8:43No, no.
- 8:44You just took a, oh, that's even deeper than I was even paid attention to, but you're
- 8:48traumatized cows are going to be putting out milk that is even unhealthy.
- 8:51Exactly.
- 8:52And then we get to the level of the animal itself.
- 8:55So to really, I mean, people have pointed this out about vegetarians, like to clear a piece
- 9:00of land for growing a vegetable, you're also going to cause harm to life.
- 9:04So I'm very balanced in my view.
- 9:05We're going to cause a lot of harm to my, what we do, but how can we be conscious?
- 9:09How can we be intentional?
- 9:11And I think in the United States section really high.
- 9:13It's why when I go abroad, I'm always fascinated.
- 9:15I go to Italy.
- 9:16I'm like, how are you guys doing?
- 9:18How do you keep your cows happy?
- 9:21How do you kill animals consciously for your consumption?
- 9:24Like, what is your approach?
- 9:25And so I had a similar conversation which recently, Richard Drucker, do you know who he is?
- 9:30I've heard.
- 9:31So he runs Drucker Labs and they actually do carbon binding technology to re-mineralize.
- 9:38So like his products are all about the great products, Drucker Labs, and they actually
- 9:44do a phobic and humic assets for human consumption.
- 9:49But then they also have technology that actually re-mineralizes soil.
- 9:53They actually use this carbon bonding to restore soil to its mineralized state.
- 9:58But anyways, I had a conversation with him.
- 10:02And it was kind of a weird conversation.
- 10:04It was like, because we're talking about like, well, the produce that you eat.
- 10:08I mean, you're a vegetarian.
- 10:09It's like, well, where do you actually get good produce nowadays?
- 10:12If it's US grown, it's grown in soil that's been over-cropped.
- 10:17Yeah.
- 10:18So mineral depletion all over the place with soil.
- 10:21So you're not even getting what you really need in that.
- 10:24Correct.
- 10:25And then I was like, well, wait a minute.
- 10:26So you are what you eat, but you're also you are what you eat.
- 10:31Eat.
- 10:32Right.
- 10:33Like, which means even if I'm eating beef, I'm eating beef that has been feeding on mineral
- 10:40depleted foods.
- 10:41Sure.
- 10:42It's even even my vegetarian cow meal.
- 10:44Right.
- 10:45It's lacking.
- 10:46It was lacking.
- 10:47Like, how's food was lacking, which means the cow is lacking, which means I'm not getting
- 10:51what I want even through the cow.
- 10:54And it's like, which, which is like a whole mother level of conversational, right?
- 10:59And you just brought up dairy, which just, yeah, I think a lot about anything that I'm
- 11:03going to consume.
- 11:04I'm so dialed in on food and diet and these things.
- 11:08And my life to teach I am either for 20 years.
- 11:12And even I get so frustrated with my blood work because it shows up in my blood work that
- 11:17although I'm living this amazing life, the food I'm choosing to eat isn't giving my body
- 11:23what it needs.
- 11:24Yeah.
- 11:25Because of the mineral depletion in the land.
- 11:27And so to me, that just means we have to work a little harder.
- 11:29We have to find those farms in our local areas, we have to partner with those farms.
- 11:34I'm committed to finding eggs locally and buying them direct, not from my Instacart sprouts
- 11:39orders that I normally do.
- 11:41Like these shifts in awareness and consciousness into food sourcing and everything sourcing.
- 11:47Skin care, everything that goes on us has to be an awareness in a shift or we're always
- 11:52going to be chasing our tail.
- 11:54And then we're always going to be over in biohacking saying, why, why do I need more and
- 11:58more and just consuming with this voracious hunger?
- 12:01And like what you just said, it's the land underneath that's lacking and everything upstream
- 12:06from there is affected.
- 12:08And so we have to get really down into that level of where am I sourcing from?
- 12:13What am I putting in my body?
- 12:15Am I even aware when I'm putting it in my body?
- 12:18Because in our way though, we say if you're in motion and you're eating, you're not going
- 12:21to digest that.
- 12:22And just on the social media post, I want to say this this morning, I want to say I wanted
- 12:28to give credit what credit is due.
- 12:29I believe it was Josh Axe.
- 12:31Okay.
- 12:32And he said, medicine is not about adding a solution.
- 12:37It's about removing it.
- 12:38I saw that.
- 12:39Did you see it?
- 12:40It was about removing a toxin.
- 12:42Like when we're trying to heal from something, we have a tendency to find out what should
- 12:47I take.
- 12:48Right.
- 12:49And it was a mindset shift for me, almost like, that's good.
- 12:51Like this is not about what do I need to add in or what do I need to remove?
- 12:56Like there's, there's something that's causing a problem, get rid of what's causing a problem
- 13:01and not try to add a solution.
- 13:02Correct.
- 13:03And that's what I think what we're doing a lot of in longevity and biohacking, which I'm
- 13:06into everything.
- 13:07I, I, I buy a lot of it.
- 13:09I'm carrying my mineral water.
- 13:10I do those things, but I also am very conscious that in IRV, they'll be, say, the biggest
- 13:16problem we have is this accumulation of something called, um, or toxins.
- 13:20So if you can imagine this toxin residue that's collected all on your insides from
- 13:25a lot of our behaviors, I, I laugh with my kids.
- 13:28I was a doctor pet for drinking big red gum chewing fast food, eating Taco Bell girl
- 13:33in college.
- 13:34That's who I was.
- 13:35You know, now I'm like, it's all organic and it's all healthy.
- 13:38I know where I came from.
- 13:40That's what we all did in the 80s and then that early, these probably, um, and so really
- 13:45now I think about it is what are my daily rituals to clear and detox?
- 13:49What are my seasonal circadian practices to fair and detox?
- 13:53How do I invest in sleep?
- 13:55So it's so deep, so profound that it allows my brain to clear.
- 13:59How am I living according to my Ayurvedic clock and how am I customizing it for my individual
- 14:04Losha?
- 14:05So for example, it's obvious you're a fifth out when we teach about these.
- 14:09I don't know what that is.
- 14:10Yeah.
- 14:11I may be insulted here.
- 14:12You got on.
- 14:13You're not insulted.
- 14:14I'm a fifth out.
- 14:15So we have three Losha's.
- 14:16Vata, Vita and Gaffa.
- 14:17These are three different body types that exist.
- 14:18So I always do a quiz on everyone or have them take that quiz.
- 14:22And then I say, you're a fifth out, you're going to be fiery.
- 14:25In the summer in South Florida, you're going to get overheated, you're going to get frustrated,
- 14:29you're going to get angry, like you're going to be like a volcano ready to erupt often.
- 14:33So let me show you how to adjust your circadian clock to summer.
- 14:36Let me show you how to adjust your food, your diet, the drinks that you do, everything
- 14:41in your life can customize to season.
- 14:44And then that's where you can help health optimization.
- 14:47So it comes back to what you just said, which is let's take out some things in the seasons
- 14:51where our elemental forces kind of get imbalanced.
- 14:55And that's how we're going to feel our absolute best.
- 14:58And that's not a conversation happening right now.
- 15:00Most times when we talk about modern day, longevity, biohacking and health optimization,
- 15:04it's like, all of you are deficient in D, the iron, it's just supplement and win.
- 15:09And I'm like, yeah, and can we talk about the lifestyle that we're not living by?
- 15:16That's the root cause of the issue itself.
- 15:18Yeah.
- 15:19Yeah.
- 15:20And so I am my next question because I have so many things I want to ask you.
- 15:28The next thing I do want to ask you is your mom, your business owner, your a wife in
- 15:35one household, you and I have a practitioner, you actually have some health coaching that
- 15:41you do, you've got a podcast, you've got a TV show.
- 15:46How in the literal hell do you have time to pay attention to what kind of eggs you're
- 15:53buying?
- 15:54Because one of the struggles that I have, and I think a lot of people do, is, I mean,
- 15:59literally while we're sitting here talking, I've got a copper bottle next to me, no, it's
- 16:04not a good job.
- 16:05It's probably a halfway job because I poured it, poured the water that's in it out of a
- 16:09plastic bottle.
- 16:11Okay.
- 16:12But I'm cognizant of this and I get overwhelmed because I literally feel like I'm dancing
- 16:19through to a mine field, yes, trying to control my house on the regular and here's the
- 16:25dealing.
- 16:26That's from a person who I think has a pretty good handle on this type of stuff anyways.
- 16:31And I'm like, you know, sure, I've got my ore ring and I've got my lila pendant.
- 16:34I've got my copper bottle and it's like, and I drank my monster energy drink on my
- 16:39right here.
- 16:40Sure.
- 16:41Like, I say, I live in this world of dissonance sometimes because because I just, you can't
- 16:49win it everything, right?
- 16:51Like sure.
- 16:52I've got my Aries EMF blocking thing on my iPad and it's on my phone and I've got one
- 16:59on my keychain and it's like, and I live in a high rise building where there's 40 floors
- 17:05of Wi-Fi signals being blasted at me on a regular basis, like there's such this, this dissonance
- 17:11and I think people who get in, it's like, it's like taking that red pill and coming out
- 17:18of the matrix and yet once you get out of the matrix, you're just like, my god, yeah.
- 17:24Like all of a sudden, I like, I walk into a 7-Eleven and I'm like, why is he the poison
- 17:29star?
- 17:30Right.
- 17:31Literally.
- 17:32Yeah.
- 17:33But I'm going to be honest with you and tell you, there are times that I'm like, who cares?
- 17:37Like, I'm just going to eat Taco Bell tonight.
- 17:40Yeah.
- 17:41And I'm just going to just, I'm going to take the bullet and it's going to happen and
- 17:46I'm going to eat that French fry and I'm not going to work out as hard as I know I should.
- 17:51Yeah.
- 17:52And my six-pack abs are not going to shine through this summer.
- 17:55Yeah.
- 17:56And I survey this about balance.
- 17:59Yeah.
- 18:00It is.
- 18:01It's the most out of balance thing for me sometimes because I don't know how to balance
- 18:05it all.
- 18:06Like, what do you tell people?
- 18:09Like, you have to deal with this on the regular.
- 18:10I mean, you probably struggle with it yourself to be honest.
- 18:13I do.
- 18:14I'm sitting here like, oh my gosh, you're outlining the biggest struggle.
- 18:19Well, you're outlining the biggest struggle I have.
- 18:22Like I know better and I know what's best.
- 18:25And so I just wish it was easy to live a life where everything was in flow and everything
- 18:31was peaceful.
- 18:32And I wanted to wake up early to meditate like I talk about all the time and I wish when
- 18:38I traveled, I wasn't drinking out of plastic water bottles all day long.
- 18:42It triggers me so much.
- 18:43I just came back from a two-week trip abroad.
- 18:46And everything they were putting sugar in the ramen, all the noodles had gluten.
- 18:51You have to drink out of plastic water bottles when you travel.
- 18:54You're on the road unless you're going to be really anal and carry a water.
- 18:58We've got a water cooler at my office and it's like, and sure, I can go fill my copper
- 19:04bottle, but I'm filling it out of a plastic container.
- 19:06Correct.
- 19:07Correct.
- 19:08It's a glass.
- 19:09It's a 10 gallon plastic things from Zephyr Hills or whoever it is.
- 19:12And it's like, sure, but it's been transported to plastic all the time.
- 19:16Right?
- 19:17And then everybody's telling me that I've got a plastic spoons full of plastic in my
- 19:20brain.
- 19:21You know, and yeah, you know what?
- 19:24When I work out, I chew gum.
- 19:26Sure.
- 19:27I chew gum releases thirties, pieces of micro-flapet and I'm like, I'm like, I'm stuck.
- 19:34So I think in IRB, so it's interesting in IRB, though what we say is, what a love it.
- 19:40Can I do that?
- 19:41Yeah, please.
- 19:42Because the truth of the matter is, is like, it was easier drinking out at least a glass
- 19:46bottle.
- 19:47Yeah.
- 19:48I've had several of those and I shatter them all.
- 19:50Me too.
- 19:51Terrible.
- 19:52And constantly cleaning up glass, which is why I've moved the copper recently.
- 19:56But I think that this frustration is legitimate for most people.
- 20:00The more you know, the more frustrating it is.
- 20:03And then I, you know, it's like, I would have loved to have gotten it this morning and
- 20:06had steak and eggs, but I did you.
- 20:08Sure.
- 20:09Because you wouldn't want steak and eggs with.
- 20:12I had my eggs.
- 20:13And I had goat cheese because that's non-dairy, but still yummy and fattening and does the
- 20:17good, good job of me.
- 20:19You know, here's the way I look at it.
- 20:20IRB that teaches us to dance.
- 20:23It's a rhythm.
- 20:24And so I'm very much a believer in, if you build a rhythm for your life, if you build
- 20:29it in moderation, you use the word moderation.
- 20:32And if you accept that there will always be some negative stuff that goes in the body.
- 20:38In modern day times, it's going to be more than ever.
- 20:40So I do think we have to have more of a vigilance than we've ever had to have around our health
- 20:46because the inputs coming out as are far worse than they were in ancient time.
- 20:50In ancient times, they weren't eating a credit cards with a plastic, per week or for
- 20:54months.
- 20:55They didn't have that problem.
- 20:56I'm sure they had all their other problems that they didn't know about.
- 20:59Maybe there was, yeah, I've never gotten attacked by a lion.
- 21:02There you go.
- 21:03So I really look at it as what is your ed and flow balance and where do you build resilience
- 21:08by putting in so much good?
- 21:10It's almost like the investment into the pot of so much good habits will completely
- 21:14build the stress resilience and the system to allow for that 20% of give.
- 21:19And we have to learn to not stress on the 20%.
- 21:23That's the hard part.
- 21:24I'm abroad and I'm like, oh my God, I'm going to have to undo all this damage when I
- 21:28got back.
- 21:29And the maturity there is, I got back and I said, you know what?
- 21:32You know how to build a rhythm.
- 21:34Lift, walk, circadian rhythm, walks in nature, supplement heavily, move on.
- 21:40Don't get attached to the punishment of travel.
- 21:43It was a lot of us in this modern day time and the health and wellness world are traveling
- 21:47like crazy.
- 21:48Right.
- 21:49And so to me, every time I went this plane, this airport, this fumes, like it all can
- 21:55add up.
- 21:56I went and bought underwear from legal quantum because they actually have quantum infuse.
- 22:00It's your EFF blocking underwear.
- 22:02And it's funny because like I call them my my travel underwear because like I always
- 22:07wear them when I'm letting the airplane.
- 22:09I'm thinking about an airplane plan and I'm trying not to make myself so high made
- 22:14that feels a little paranoid.
- 22:15Because I'm already pretty high maintenance about my supplements, my T, like I have a,
- 22:19a wellness package I plan for myself for travel before I pack clothes.
- 22:23So fill up if you're watching this, you'll know that I'm going to wear a lila underpants
- 22:26tomorrow while I'm, while I'm on the airplane.
- 22:29Yeah, but I do think IRB that gives us a lot of tools.
- 22:32It's saying always address your gut, always address your sleep, the things you have under
- 22:36control do.
- 22:37And then lovingly know there's a gift because you built in that gift.
- 22:43So I was asked, I was a guest on a somebody else's podcast yesterday and I was asked like
- 22:47how do you, you know, what do you do to get into this type of rhythm?
- 22:52Because the conversation was all about discipline, and you know, and I say that I'm a person
- 22:58who I try discipline doesn't get me very far because while I'm a disciplined person,
- 23:04what I've learned about myself is that I think like most people I'm super hyper vigilant
- 23:09about something until I'm not.
- 23:10Sure.
- 23:11And then once the reals fall off like I'm telling me, and what I told him was that one of
- 23:17the ways that I try to circumvent that is I, I look for ways that I can actually put
- 23:23a reward system into the things that I don't like.
- 23:27Yeah.
- 23:28And one of the examples I gave is that I'm a daily gym goer, but I'm a daily gym goer,
- 23:32but I go to a hit gym, you know, which is kind of like a cross fit and stuff for somebody
- 23:36doesn't really know that.
- 23:37But a group fitness is interesting to me, and I enjoy it because I'm a social being.
- 23:44And like I will go and I was commenting that over the weekend, I was out in Los Angeles,
- 23:49but I'll never go to a hotel gym like I'll go find an F 45 somewhere and pay the $30
- 23:55to go to the fitness class as opposed to working out in a hotel gym because there's a reward
- 24:00built in that I get community during something that I wouldn't want to do by myself.
- 24:06And it makes me go do the thing that I otherwise wouldn't do.
- 24:10And I find myself trying to build those types of things in my life, but I don't keep
- 24:14sweets around the house because if I do, I'll eat them.
- 24:18Correct.
- 24:19Like they will be eaten.
- 24:20So I just, I don't keep it in the house.
- 24:22I don't put it in the refrigerator.
- 24:24I, I deliberately block things out of my life so that I can't fall into that trap.
- 24:31Sure.
- 24:33What are some of the, what are some of the things that you do?
- 24:36Because we talk about this 20% yeah, right?
- 24:38And I think anybody who gets into this flow, I'm like, okay, well, now I'm using copper
- 24:43bottles.
- 24:44And while I'm talking to you, I'm like, yeah, but I'm getting copper bottles.
- 24:47I'm filling out of a plastic container like, well, better than nothing, right?
- 24:51Copper would re-minilize it.
- 24:52Re-minilize it.
- 24:53Re-minilize in Florida.
- 24:54I'm always filtering any water that I drink in Florida because it's so bad.
- 24:57And then I'm laughing because it all goes through, because I'll take it through my
- 25:01plastic water filter machine.
- 25:04Sure.
- 25:05So like sure, I'm filtering the water through a plastic filtration system and then pouring
- 25:10some of that water into my plastic ice maker, you know, where I'm then scooping it and
- 25:15putting it into a copper drinking vessel, right?
- 25:20I'm like, and some of it like almost feels like a, like a fool's air and right because
- 25:26at some point I could bulk everything I do and they're like, yeah, well, that's great,
- 25:29but you just did this and then again, it's a dissonance that we live with.
- 25:33But what are some of the habits and rituals I'll call it that you've built into your
- 25:37life?
- 25:38Because like I'm telling you, like, I keep this out or I keep the positive attached to
- 25:43a negative, be sure it makes the negative less negative, it's like, we're sure.
- 25:46I evade that specifically, but what are some of the rituals that you've built into your
- 25:51life that you try to keep the dissonance at bay a little bit?
- 25:54Sure.
- 25:55But the dissonance, I think I'll always be there, but in Ayurveda, we teach that there's
- 25:59something called didn't that Jadiya, the daily self-care rituals that you use to consistently
- 26:05detox the body and help the body have that resilience we're talking about.
- 26:09So the first one is wake up and set an intention first.
- 26:12So touching the ground, touching your forehead and say, thank you, but setting an intention
- 26:16like a word for the day, mine is usually peace because like you mentioned, I've got a lot
- 26:21of hats I wear.
- 26:22And if I don't have peace, I cannot execute on all the friends I'm managing at a given
- 26:26time.
- 26:27So I set that intention, hydrate first because we're a big fan of peristalsis, systems
- 26:32got a move first thing in the morning, we're obsessed with everyone having their first
- 26:36bowel movements, we're self-sessed with gut health.
- 26:38And then the next thing I do is when I go to brush my teeth, I use a copper tone scraper.
- 26:42So we're big fans of copper in Ayurveda because even 5,000 years ago, they knew this will
- 26:47remineralize you.
- 26:48It's an antibacterial metal, it'll stay cleaner.
- 26:51So I scrape my tongue 7 to 14 times and that's oftentimes my first habit, a lot of times
- 26:56I wake up to an alarm and I am already late.
- 26:58I've got to get this kid up, that kid up, everything has to move at once.
- 27:02So I will use that and remind myself, this is your first habit of many today for self-care.
- 27:08Then I do my oil pulling, oil pulling is taking one to two tablespoons of oil, coconut
- 27:12oil, organic is fine or any oil you choose, and I swish around your mouth for 5 to 20
- 27:17minutes.
- 27:18That one I can only do if I'm going to take a shower because I've got a lot of people
- 27:21I'm talking to to get everyone out of the house and I'm leaving voice memos for team
- 27:24by then.
- 27:25But those are two habits that are going to clear the oral microbiome, which is going to
- 27:30support gut microbiome, it's going to help gently detox the body, which is that tongue
- 27:34scraping, just like in reflexology, all your organs of your body are reflected on the
- 27:39bottom of your foot.
- 27:40In Ayurveda, we choose that all the organs are reflected on the tongue, so you're gently
- 27:45scraping the tongue, but you're not just scraping the tongue, you are detoxing all the organs
- 27:49of your body, you are helping your body release that amna or toxin, burden and residue that
- 27:54forms so that when you go to a seasonal or annual detox, which many of us do, what
- 27:59is like I'm already good, how to handle this, you help me every single day.
- 28:03And then it's also going to help clear any bacterial overgrowth and clear our taste buds,
- 28:08so we taste better.
- 28:09And so any time we help oral microbiome, like I said, we're supporting gut, so that's
- 28:12kind of how I start my morning, then I start my day.
- 28:15And the only way I can fit in self-care during the day for myself is a cup of tea.
- 28:20And so I took the self-care rituals of Ayurveda and I moved all the rest into the evening
- 28:24because as a mom, I better get them into school and then I've got to get to work or I usually
- 28:28lift and then go to work.
- 28:30And so my habit I teach is called tea time is me time.
- 28:33And that's why online, you probably see, look, a million cups of tea posted by me, but
- 28:37it's my moment that I call my mindful moment where I really anchor in and just take a second.
- 28:43I take a breath.
- 28:44You can't choke tea.
- 28:45Like I was on my way here and I was like, I've got to finish my tea before I see Mark.
- 28:49And I can't rush that process, it's burning hot, right?
- 28:52So I waited, it got to just perfect.
- 28:55And as I was driving, I got to have my tea, I tune in and I always ask my intuition.
- 29:01What's going on?
- 29:02What do I need to know today?
- 29:03And I have trained my intuition to really answer me.
- 29:06And I would say the biggest gift that I have made that gives us is the ability for our
- 29:09own inner intelligence and intuition to give us the answers that we need.
- 29:14And so a lot of times what I'm asking with that cup of tea is, what am I not aware of
- 29:18that I need to be aware of?
- 29:20And my body will tell me, you haven't planned for yourself to eat today.
- 29:24You need to say no to those people, just say no.
- 29:27Because a lot of times I'm saying yes to everyone and everything at once.
- 29:30But my inner intelligence already knows that deal I'm thinking about, that person,
- 29:34that relationship, whatever it is, is endowed.
- 29:37And so I use tea time to really calibrate the day, the week.
- 29:40And I take that moment to handle things I need to.
- 29:43And then by evening, I shipped a shift into the Ayurvedic self-care rituals again.
- 29:47So we teach dry brushing, which is something called opium massage, a full body massage
- 29:53with oil to really ground our energy.
- 29:56We talk about journaling and really releasing the day and only feeding our brain the seeds
- 30:01we need before a great night's sleep.
- 30:03Because when we sleep, for example, if you're watching the news or violence right before
- 30:07that, that's what your brain is going to chew on all night long.
- 30:11And so Ayurveda always said, you want your brain to chew on beautiful spiritual things
- 30:14and then wake up with answers.
- 30:16And so a lot of my practices at nine o'clock, I have a hard line and I shift into deep sleep
- 30:23tea, self hygiene sleep rituals, a hot shower, journaling, really winding up the day.
- 30:30To sleep, according to Ayurveda, 10 to 2 on the sleep clock, circadian clock is when
- 30:35we're going to clear the glimphatic system.
- 30:37And so since we're so obsessed with detoxing, if you're not sleeping 10 to 2, you're not
- 30:41clearing that that waste in your brain up to three pounds of waste, could accumulate
- 30:45in your brain overnight, I'll put into Ayurveda and the circadian clock into the glimphatic
- 30:50system and your lymphatic system will clear.
- 30:52So to me, those are like my anchor points in my day.
- 30:56And then if I can do more, I'll do more.
- 30:58And typically, that's all I will get to in a day.
- 31:01That's interesting.
- 31:02Some of those rituals, like I wish I were so disciplined on those things because sometimes
- 31:06I am, sometimes I'm not.
- 31:08And I travel so much that, you know, some of that, I mean, you're making me think like,
- 31:13like I just, as you're talking, like I've got two copper tone scrapers at my house and
- 31:17I do that, not as ritual as you are about it.
- 31:21But I don't have one in my travel bag.
- 31:23And I'm like, well, why don't I stick one in my travel bag?
- 31:25Like I don't do that when I travel.
- 31:27Like, well, that's an easy fix.
- 31:28And I think I say that nobody wins the war.
- 31:32But there's a lot of battles that we can certainly win along the way.
- 31:36And one of those is, you know, I want to pivot just for a, for a, well,
- 31:42probably the remainder of our time to be honest with you.
- 31:44But I, well, I want to, yeah, but I want to, I want to go one place first.
- 31:49You mentioned being Hindu, Buddhist, yeah, I'm a Christian.
- 31:54I mentioned earlier about the kosher and how all killing of animals,
- 32:00like obviously that's a lot of fates that are all brought in here.
- 32:03Sure.
- 32:04And Ayurveda is, it's not a religion.
- 32:06No.
- 32:08This is just a way of life that's practiced by cultures.
- 32:13What is the spiritual implication of Ayurveda?
- 32:16Because it's not specifically religious by promise or more of a Hindu tradition.
- 32:22Correct.
- 32:23But so much un-fascinated because so much of what's brought up in Ayurveda is also Jewish.
- 32:30Yes.
- 32:31It's also Muslim and it's also Christian and it's also Buddhist.
- 32:35Like they're so, because ancient wisdom was ancient wisdom.
- 32:40And I think this is a opinion only that particularly in modern times,
- 32:47I think we associate these types of behaviors and cultural things and
- 32:52call them religious.
- 32:54Right.
- 32:55But in fact, religious is spiritual side of things that is dissociated with the cultural
- 33:00practices of things, and we've, in an effort to allow diversity into a spiritual world,
- 33:07we kind of threw out all of these other things as well.
- 33:10Right.
- 33:11Like, okay, well, I'm not Jewish, but that doesn't mean I can't respect and incorporate Jewish
- 33:18culture into my practices and I'm not Hindu, but it doesn't mean that there aren't a lot
- 33:24of health benefits to things that are practiced in the Hindu tradition.
- 33:27Right.
- 33:28And I hear people like, oh, yoga is bad.
- 33:30Sure.
- 33:31I got it.
- 33:32I get that yoga has a Hindu upbringing, but I don't believe that practicing yoga and understanding
- 33:38the form of the human body and how it best moves is sacrilege, if I'm not Hindu.
- 33:44Like, I'm just curious how you see that, that this is not a religion, this is a lifestyle,
- 33:50and there's adaptations from all cultures that we would be better to, like, I'm not finished,
- 33:57but I enjoy a good sauna.
- 33:58Sure.
- 33:59Of course, of course.
- 34:00Yeah.
- 34:01You know, it's interesting.
- 34:02I grew up in a Hindu family and luckily, my parents took me to Vedantic school, which
- 34:07is really the study of Buddhist philosophy and Hinduism together in a way.
- 34:12It's like the Buddhist aspect of Hinduism.
- 34:14It's a very letting go of the rituals of sitting there and putting food in flour in front
- 34:19of a god and instead understanding the philosophy.
- 34:22So because of that, when I look at Ayurveda and I look at any of the health systems I'm
- 34:27talking about nowadays, I really do think of them as our path to our spiritual self.
- 34:33And I think we don't talk about that as much because it doesn't seem like anyone cares
- 34:37to hear it.
- 34:38I don't even mention the spirituality of Ayurveda.
- 34:41But I have a teacher who's a priestess and when I was sitting with her in session, she's
- 34:47like, can you explain to us the spirituality of Ayurveda?
- 34:49Is it there?
- 34:50And I said, it's the whole point.
- 34:52The whole point of your Ayurvedic journey, your Ayurvedic lifestyle, your Ayurvedic
- 34:56day is to bring yourself into alignment, your elemental forces into alignment.
- 35:02Why do I focus so much on all this health stuff?
- 35:04When you go to yoga and you have Shavasana at the end, what is the point of our Shavasana
- 35:09laying there in total stillness?
- 35:11It's the messages that come in, it's God's voice or whoever you believe in coming in and
- 35:16giving you answers and giving you support and showing you that you are one.
- 35:21And so in Ayurveda also, we're saying, let's bring body into alignment, emotions, mental
- 35:26health into alignment once you have those spiritual alignments, easy.
- 35:31And so that's why when I started teaching what I teach in the last couple of years, I
- 35:34called it vibrant health because what I was trying to get at is we each have a vibration.
- 35:39And I can tell when my vibration is so alive and so energized and so happy.
- 35:45And when I'm at that point, I can do anything.
- 35:48I feel invincible.
- 35:49And that's usually the Shavasana you get to see because that's how I show up.
- 35:52I'm like, I am ready to change the whole world.
- 35:54Let's do it.
- 35:55And I also know when I'm dysregulated and I'm tired and I haven't done anything right.
- 36:00And I'm in my low energy space.
- 36:02And so my dream is actually for everyone to achieve such a high energy state that all
- 36:07we want to do is good for each other because when we're in that state, we've kind of cleared
- 36:11the clutter.
- 36:12Fear in that clutter of, oh, I've got to handle this, that the other, whatever.
- 36:15When I'm in my highest vibration, all I want to do is to, and I think we have that opportunity
- 36:21now.
- 36:22We're understanding health at a level where we can clear all that well energy out of the
- 36:26way and stay in that vibration.
- 36:28I love that you say that because it's one of the conversations that I have on a regular
- 36:32basis with people.
- 36:33It's like part of the reason why I take such intricate care of my health is because, you
- 36:40know, I always get the quote wrongly, Bobby Kennedy made a comment, it's like, I mean,
- 36:44he has a hundred dreams until he has a health concern and then he has one.
- 36:48And for me, I have to take care of my health because if my stomach is upset or I'm tired
- 36:55or I'm feeling out of balance, I'm all vibration, I'm all energy, I can't show up for anybody
- 37:01else.
- 37:03And in my book, Radical Generosity, like that was actually one of the topics that I discussed
- 37:07that part of generosity, the fifth element of generosity is being willing to give to yourself
- 37:13because you can't, you can't give out of an empty cock that me showing up in a healthy
- 37:19state.
- 37:20And I mean, not just physical health, but emotional health, spiritual health, like everything
- 37:25about we needs to be in balance because when I'm out of balance, my focus is on me.
- 37:30And when I'm in balance, my focus is outward and outward is the way I want to live in my life.
- 37:35It's not.
- 37:36So Shivani, I want to pivot where I really want to end the conversation is in this idea,
- 37:42you mentioned earlier about supplementation, you know, in the intro, I'd mentioned turmeric.
- 37:47And then you touched on two points earlier when we were talking and you made a comment about
- 37:51detox and you made a comment about longevity.
- 37:56And I recently, I given the lecture about supplementation and interestingly enough,
- 38:01it actually was to the executive team at Kroger grocery stores.
- 38:04And yeah, which was quite interesting because the topic of the conversation was about how
- 38:08you don't get what you walk through food.
- 38:10Sure.
- 38:11And it's like, that's really weird to give to an executive team at a grocery store.
- 38:13Yeah.
- 38:14But really talking about like, you don't necessarily get what you need through this.
- 38:19And part of what I had unpacked was that I'm a heavy supplement guy.
- 38:24I'm always doing lots of supplements and in that, what I'll say is that there are,
- 38:28I categorize my supplements because people say like, well, what do you take?
- 38:32And like, well, it depends on for what?
- 38:34Right.
- 38:35And I've kind of taken my supplements and put them into four categories.
- 38:38And my first one is nutritional decollution.
- 38:41Sure.
- 38:42That is, what are the vitamins and minerals that I don't believe I'm getting through my diet?
- 38:46And part of that could be because I just don't eat, right?
- 38:49Sure.
- 38:50No, I eat perfect.
- 38:51Right.
- 38:52Nobody eats perfect.
- 38:53And I just, sometimes I just don't feel like eating what I should eat tonight.
- 38:57And I know there's going to be a gap.
- 38:59Yeah.
- 39:00So I supplement for that every day.
- 39:02Sure.
- 39:03Because even if I do eat, right?
- 39:04That's okay.
- 39:05A little bit of extra vitamin.
- 39:06That's a little bit of vitamin.
- 39:07Another.
- 39:08One category I keep is one for what I call longevity, cool.
- 39:11And that includes such things as like AKG and spermadine and those types of things that
- 39:19are resveratrol that are supplements that are specifically focused on core longevity
- 39:24elements.
- 39:25Right.
- 39:26One is I have a supplement category for detoxification.
- 39:30Right.
- 39:31And I'll use like C60 oils.
- 39:33Yes.
- 39:34I'll use like Axis Ant then.
- 39:36And these types of things that are literally just detox pressures.
- 39:39Check out.
- 39:40And the fourth one that I use is actually what I use for like optimization was what I call
- 39:43and that's the one I probably clay with most.
- 39:46That's where I'm doing things that are that are mental stimulants.
- 39:49That's where I'm doing nitric oxide.
- 39:51That's where I'm doing different types of things, maybe a different form of BCAAs or I'm
- 39:55doing some other stack for working out differently.
- 39:59And I'm also big in the peptides and all this other kind of crazy stuff.
- 40:03So my house looks like a damn pharmacy.
- 40:05Sure.
- 40:06But the reality is that I categorize all of this stuff in supplementation because I'm
- 40:11a freak.
- 40:12Sure.
- 40:13One of the things I don't use on the regular and ashamed, I'm ashamed to say this is
- 40:21I actually out of all of the things you heard me say, I don't understand the benefit
- 40:28of tour the way I probably should because and I'm, again, you've been a friend of mine
- 40:32years.
- 40:33Yeah.
- 40:34And I don't like to make that.
- 40:35I've not, I've not adopted this and I don't know why.
- 40:38Sure.
- 40:39I just, I mean, I'll take the most obscure things, but when it, I just have never brought
- 40:45turmeric into that family land.
- 40:46And I'm like, obviously it's something that I need to do because you would swear by it.
- 40:50I would.
- 40:51I'd put it as one and only that you've committed your life to it.
- 40:55Like your PhD is in turmeric, which I think is hilarious to me, by the way, but it's like
- 41:00a PhD in turmeric.
- 41:01I'm like, is that a study?
- 41:04And I love it.
- 41:05And I know your story on it.
- 41:06And I love how deep you are in this.
- 41:10But you're, you're an entrepreneur and you run a company called fusionary formulas.
- 41:15And really fusionary is, well, you have things other than turmeric.
- 41:19Sure.
- 41:20Turmeric is your, your anchor, which is your passion.
- 41:23This is your life.
- 41:25Why are you so passionate?
- 41:26Like I've got 70 different supplements that are in my, my arrow quiver in your life,
- 41:32turmeric.
- 41:33Yeah.
- 41:34Yeah.
- 41:35What is, what is so beneficial about this?
- 41:38And if so, why isn't everybody using this?
- 41:41Sure.
- 41:42And it's such a beautiful question.
- 41:43You know, when I was doing my herbology class, and the teacher went through all the
- 41:47Ayurvedic spices, there's fennel, there's fenugreek, ginger, we have cumin seeds.
- 41:53We have a lot of spices.
- 41:54People have never heard of in the West with white, a plethora of herbs.
- 41:58When they got to turmeric, the benefits were so profound.
- 42:02I thought, if you could actually do all that in one plant, why are we not using that across
- 42:07the board in Western medicine?
- 42:09In Western medicine, when we go to the doctor, they have some, they always say, you have something
- 42:12itis.
- 42:13Anything ending initis means inflammation.
- 42:16And turmeric is such a powerful anti-inflammatory.
- 42:18So when I did my Ph.D., which took forever, because back then there were 10,000 scientific
- 42:23studies on turmeric and now there's 17,000 scientific studies.
- 42:28What I loved was turmeric's anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-biral, anti-bacterial,
- 42:35anti-fungal, anti-pericidic.
- 42:38It gets rid of what we don't need in the gut, but keeps the good.
- 42:41That's a pretty big deal.
- 42:43It's antioxidant in the sense that it goes and reverses the things that are causing oxidation
- 42:47in the first place.
- 42:48And we know when we're aging, we're going to rust, we're going to slow down.
- 42:52So the fact that it'll reverse those processes is a really big deal.
- 42:55It increases nitric oxide in the system.
- 42:58It impacts our sirtoins, our AMPK pathways.
- 43:01I did a whole talk at A4 and Vegas on longevity with curcumin.
- 43:06There's a lot of science there as well.
- 43:08And so the fact that it's like your Swiss army night and can do that much in the body
- 43:13naturally without the negative side effects, to me, is very powerful.
- 43:17And then from an anti-inflammatory pathway, standpoint, it's affecting NF-CAPA-B, TNF-Alpha.
- 43:23All the inner luke is cox-2, like the fact that it's impacting 30 different pathways
- 43:28so powerfully, to me, is really great because most of us are running around inflamed.
- 43:33And that chronic low rate persistent inflammation is damaging all of us.
- 43:37And my hayhouse book next year coming up is all about this, how that inflammation is
- 43:42at the root of so many of our issues, but we're so confused about how to address it.
- 43:46And here, Mother Nature created this incredible plant that just does the job.
- 43:51So I'm going to be on Pactless for just, you know, for someone who may not completely
- 43:55understand the concept of oxidation and inflammation.
- 43:59Sure.
- 44:00And that is inflammation is a cell's response to what I'll say negativity, right?
- 44:05Something is going to damage it.
- 44:06And the cell, the inflammation is the cell's way of protecting itself really.
- 44:10Right.
- 44:12Which means inflammation isn't the problem.
- 44:15Information is the body's response to a problem that we haven't removed.
- 44:21And usually that that that trigger that that cause is oxidation.
- 44:26Correct.
- 44:26And oxidative damage to the body is is caused, you know, the fact that we're sitting here
- 44:31in a climate control building is causing oxidation, right?
- 44:34And I always use the example of an oxidation is literally the opposite of longevity.
- 44:38That as oxidative damage takes place, longevity starts to fail.
- 44:42And your body knows how to deal with so much oxidation in a day.
- 44:47But when the oxidative burden becomes so much in the body,
- 44:50just can't fight that much over the course of a day that the suddenly,
- 44:53that's when they hit that point and I'll say that everybody, I think at some point,
- 44:57it's the point that you suddenly just, yeah, everybody stays young until they don't.
- 45:03Like if that makes sense, like you've just meet somebody that you're like,
- 45:06wow, what happened to you?
- 45:07Right.
- 45:08And it's like in just all of a sudden, they got old.
- 45:10Yeah.
- 45:10And I, and you know, and there's all these predictions now that it happens at this age.
- 45:14Yeah, like whenever and it is like that just happens one day.
- 45:18And I'm like, no, that doesn't just happen one day.
- 45:20It happens because tipping points happen when you're not helping the other side fight harder.
- 45:29And the more we can stav off this oxidative stress or reverse it or detox more,
- 45:37yeah, the, the, the, the longevity being keeps winning, right?
- 45:41I'm literally deaf is a matter of just too much goes of oxidative stress.
- 45:45Yeah, yeah, the body just ages and, and depletes.
- 45:48And, and that's what I review the saying is we can reach into the super herbs,
- 45:51super spices kit and you have so many beautiful tools from mother nature.
- 45:56And what I found interesting was out of the entire tumor plant,
- 46:00only 3% of it is the curcuminoid.
- 46:02Those curcuminoids are the piece that's doing the heavy lifting.
- 46:06And out of those curcuminoids, curcumin is the most effective at reducing inflammation.
- 46:10So I, I sat there after my PhD and I was like, okay, this is great.
- 46:14Who's turmeric am I going to recommend?
- 46:15Because people were by then asking me.
- 46:16They're like, it's my knees are, but people like my knee hurts.
- 46:20I was like, you should take turmeric for that.
- 46:22They're like my throat hurts.
- 46:23You should take turmeric for that.
- 46:24And my family looked at me and they're like, well, if you don't have a turmeric,
- 46:27you trust, you should just make your own.
- 46:29And I said, that's insane.
- 46:30Like I've never dreamt of building a supplement company.
- 46:33They're like, well, you've done your PhD on it.
- 46:35You're obviously very passionate about it.
- 46:37And I'm surrounded by a family of all Western medicine doctors.
- 46:40And so they were kind of kind of goading me and they're like,
- 46:42and you think it can stand up to what we use, which can't possibly be true.
- 46:47That you think a plant is effective enough to use in our toolkits.
- 46:50And all the irrefutably it is.
- 46:53And so that's when I went out and created a missionary was.
- 46:55I wanted to prove without a doubt my point.
- 46:57And so I went to my factory and I said, hey, I want to create this thing.
- 47:01And they said, you are doing this backwards.
- 47:03You create supplements for profit.
- 47:05Like this is a highly profitable business.
- 47:07And you should create it that way.
- 47:08And I said, that's not what I'm doing.
- 47:10I want to prove to all of Western medicine that every time they say something hurts
- 47:14in us, we can just use turmeric, which is a natural Ayurvedic solution.
- 47:18And so that's how I built fusion of 10 years ago, I built it.
- 47:21And COVID, the pandemic was a good tipping point because around that time,
- 47:26mindsets shifted.
- 47:27Doctors became really open to the fact that their existing toolkit wasn't enough.
- 47:32All of a sudden for the solutions that we needed.
- 47:34Well, and consumers became very understanding of the fact that their health
- 47:38was a matter of personal responsibility.
- 47:40Correct.
- 47:41And so at that time, I was sitting there and everyone called me.
- 47:44They're like, we know you said to work helps in you and will you help us?
- 47:46I'm like, of course, I'm happy to guide you.
- 47:48Obviously, the supplement exists.
- 47:50And so it's my mission to share that turmeric should be in all of our supplement
- 47:54kids. When I travel my, I have like a tiny stack for travel,
- 47:58compared to the whole thing that I want to carry like you.
- 48:01And it's turmeric vitamin D and a probiotic with those three.
- 48:04I'm covered for 90% of what could come not in my life because turmeric alone
- 48:09will do the majority of the job.
- 48:10Sometimes I have a separate carry on just for my, just for my health stack.
- 48:14And then I like to have my katsu bands and everything else.
- 48:20I'm a freak.
- 48:21Oh, no, I have got to bands and watch on everything else that's all in my carry on.
- 48:25I'm like, people are going to think I'm a freak.
- 48:27If they ever look inside my luggage, so fusionary formulas.
- 48:31Like, obviously, I'm going to start using this.
- 48:33But turmeric itself anti-inflammatory, what is, so it brings down the inflammation,
- 48:39but as we just said, inflammation itself is a response.
- 48:43Sure.
- 48:44What is it doing that's bringing down the inflammation?
- 48:46Because is it, is it negating the body's response?
- 48:50Or is it actually intercepting a stimulus?
- 48:54You know what, when I find what I find with turmeric is because it's plant medicine,
- 48:59and because we're taking that curcumin at the correct proportion out of the plant,
- 49:03it has its own intelligence and it's adaptogenic.
- 49:07Consciousness.
- 49:07So a lot of things out of IRV that are adaptogenic and adaptogenic means
- 49:11if you took ashwagandha, for example, when you're stressed and anxious,
- 49:14it brings you down a few notches if you're having the blues that lifts you up.
- 49:17It intelligently goes where it needs to go.
- 49:20That's why I built my second formula inflammation relief
- 49:23because it had all the synergistic herbs to help address inflammation and joint pain in the system.
- 49:28Joint pain is a big issue and people are going to be taking NSAIDs daily chronically for years,
- 49:33which has a negative impact.
- 49:34And joint pain is usually just a function of toxicity,
- 49:37because toxicity doesn't naturally flow from the joint,
- 49:40because the joint doesn't actually have blood flow, right?
- 49:43So there's nothing to take the toxins out of the joints.
- 49:46If you don't do that, you know, whether it's through, you know,
- 49:52brushing, whether it's really supplementation or whatever.
- 49:55The lymphatic flow, all these different practices we have,
- 49:57bouncing, walking, moving, you know, we're so sedentary as a society.
- 50:02And so turmeric does go in there and is anti-inflammatory in the sense that it's going to reverse
- 50:07all that negative inflammation in the system, all the excess inflammation in the system.
- 50:11And like you said, because it's addressing the oxidation,
- 50:14it's going in there and really healing what needs to be healed.
- 50:17So the body stops sending the excess inflammatory response.
- 50:20A lot of times we've heard an elbow and the body doesn't stop its inflammatory response
- 50:25after it's done healing.
- 50:26The body's dysregulated.
- 50:28Like you said, we have a toxic burden in the system.
- 50:30Is a term that knows how to get in there.
- 50:32I have found it fascinating over 10 years.
- 50:34I've heard all the client stories coming in and they'll say,
- 50:37well, my back hurt and you totally fix that.
- 50:39I can travel, I can move, I can play golf, all those things.
- 50:42But then I had gingivitis and nothing was working for that.
- 50:46Or I had allergies.
- 50:48I was sneezing like 20 times every time I started sneezing.
- 50:51That went away.
- 50:52And so to me, it's been an interesting science experiment to see
- 50:56when you put something in the body that's adapted genic,
- 50:58how does it go into all the places?
- 51:00Because for me, it addresses the big issues,
- 51:02then the medium issues, and then the small issues.
- 51:05And so that's the beauty of what I've kind of seen over the last decade of it.
- 51:08That's really cool.
- 51:09And then I love that.
- 51:10You just pointed out that it's an adapted genic.
- 51:11Because I can't be the adapted genic word was getting used a lot lately.
- 51:16But specifically as it relates to like mushrooms.
- 51:19But this isn't a adapted genic too.
- 51:22But it's literally just means that it's an intelligent molecule
- 51:25that's able to move to where it needs to be.
- 51:27It adapts to whatever's going on.
- 51:29So the way that it affects your body may not be the same way it affects mine.
- 51:32Correct.
- 51:32Because we have different ailments, we have different toxins.
- 51:35You know, I was sitting in Japan just last week and I started to have a fever.
- 51:39And I was like, oh, that's not good.
- 51:40What happened?
- 51:41What could that be?
- 51:42I'll just take too much for that.
- 51:43And I did, I took two.
- 51:45And I was fine.
- 51:46Like six hours later, eight hours later, I was like, oh, no problem.
- 51:49So I use it like that.
- 51:50For me, it's a very powerful immune boost.
- 51:52It's always been kind of on that borderline of autoimmune leaky gut.
- 51:56So I need something that I can use as a fast effect.
- 51:59Well, you know, and Shilani, one of the things that you bring up
- 52:02and it crosses my mind here as we're wrapping up,
- 52:04but that we're so accustomed in Western medicine that, you know,
- 52:09we have this specific problem and we have this specific solution.
- 52:12As you know, I'm a marketing guy.
- 52:14So when we're talking to how do we market products,
- 52:20I always talk to my clients.
- 52:21It's on what is the specific issue that your product addresses?
- 52:26And how do you specifically resolve it?
- 52:29Because that's what makes a credit card come out of a wallet, right?
- 52:32But I would argue, if we say that that's not the way the human body works,
- 52:38that's the way maybe our Western brains work,
- 52:41if the human body is just like, let me do what I do.
- 52:44Can we just help clear everything else out of the way?
- 52:47If we started off talking about the Josh Axe book,
- 52:49then the idea that it's not about adding something.
- 52:52It's about taking something away.
- 52:54And if we put in the right ingredients,
- 52:58the body knows what to do.
- 52:59Your body knows how to reduce a fever.
- 53:01Your fevers aren't a bad thing.
- 53:04Do you have your body's way of actually fighting an infection of some sort?
- 53:07Like, that's a response that's not a symptom.
- 53:11And if we support whether it's your tumor,
- 53:13or your tumor, or any number of supplementations,
- 53:16anti-oxidants, if we just get out of the way,
- 53:21the body does what it does.
- 53:23And we are in your intelligent creations.
- 53:26And in that, I believe that we can restore ourselves back to natural house,
- 53:31because we call it natural house, because it's natural, right?
- 53:34It's not that the ingredients are natural.
- 53:36It's that house is native to whom we are.
- 53:40Like, our bodies want to survive and know how.
- 53:43Absolutely.
- 53:44Shabani, if people were trying to get a hold of you
- 53:46or wanting to try some tumor products,
- 53:49or any of the products and fusionary formulas,
- 53:51where would they do so?
- 53:52So, my website is my name, shabani.govic.com.
- 53:55They can find all about Ayurveda there.
- 53:57And then the supplement line is fusionaryformulose.com,
- 54:00so F-U-S-I-O-N-A-R-Y-F-O-N-L-S-Duck.
- 54:04And all of that will be down in the show notes
- 54:06where you can find the links to find Dr. Shabani Gupta
- 54:10as well as fusionaryformulose.com.
- 54:14We'll put in a coupon code for somebody in there
- 54:16if they want to try the product and give it a world.
- 54:18That way they can do that.
- 54:20I have my recommendations for people
- 54:21anytime that they're taking a supplement.
- 54:23That's what I do is I subscribe.
- 54:25Yeah.
- 54:26But there's no reason to take a product
- 54:28and then take it for 30 days.
- 54:29And I think the reason most people don't subscribe Shabani
- 54:33is they end up missing a day here
- 54:36and missing two days there.
- 54:37And then all of a sudden they've got two extra bottles
- 54:39sitting somewhere on a counter
- 54:40and then they're like, oh, it's a waste
- 54:42and then they want to cancel.
- 54:43And it's like, my thing is subscribe
- 54:45so that I never run out.
- 54:46Absolutely.
- 54:47And then, you know, periodically I'll skip a month
- 54:50because I missed a couple days here in there, right?
- 54:52And like I just did it the other day.
- 54:54I went through my Amazon account and I was like,
- 54:55nope, skip that month, skip that month, skip that month.
- 54:58I found it easy.
- 54:58Because as I was cleaning my kitchen,
- 54:59I realized I had lots of extras.
- 55:02Sitting around that I had missed days here
- 55:04and missed days there.
- 55:05And it's like, but I always recommend
- 55:07to people subscribe so you don't lie out
- 55:09because you don't want to find out
- 55:11when you feel like without it.
- 55:12True.
- 55:12Yeah.
- 55:13That's actually when I get the most phone calls.
- 55:15People will call and say,
- 55:17I ran out for a week.
- 55:18Now I know what you would do for me.
- 55:20Yes.
- 55:20And I had no awareness before that.
- 55:22And wow, I'm in pain.
- 55:24And I'm like, okay, at least you know it was working now.
- 55:28Yeah, those are the best testimonies, right?
- 55:30The people that did without for a minute
- 55:31and they realized how good it was.
- 55:32Yeah.
- 55:33Guys, I absolutely recommend
- 55:35that you check out Fusionery formulas.
- 55:37Shabani Goop has been a long-term friend of mine
- 55:39and I trust anything she says.
- 55:42Chloe, I've not bought her product until now
- 55:44and now I feel like a bit of a heel for saying that.
- 55:47Like, it's not for my lack of supplements.
- 55:48It's just my lack of of knowledge or discipline
- 55:52or anything else.
- 55:53So now that we know,
- 55:55no one's half the battle is GI Joe Vintales, right?
- 55:57True.
- 55:59Thanks guys for tuning in.
- 56:00And a performance driven living and we'll see you next time.
