Transcript
- 0:00Every couple, if you are together long enough, you are going to to go through times where one
- 0:06partner wants it more than the other and it can change at different points of the relationship
- 0:10and of life.
- 0:12The biggest thing I think is when you're at work, you get stressed out, you come home and
- 0:17it's just not either reading in the mood, you know, we both have busy careers and stuff, we
- 0:23were both on businesses, creating space to make time for each other.
- 0:28What's come up for us probably the most and challenging is like, when it's like kid nights,
- 0:33it's like, the kids will go to bed and we're gonna like still like get it in.
- 0:37It's so easy for the kids to just like take over.
- 0:40Date nights is in particular prioritizing, especially if the kids are not allowed, making
- 0:46sure that we're taking time for each other.
- 0:48With kid night, I went there.
- 0:49I read a really interesting research article today looking at scheduling sex and planning
- 0:55sex.
- 0:55If people believed planning sex was not hot, then it would actually be not hot.
- 1:01But if they believed it was just like just as hot as spontaneous sex, then it actually was
- 1:06just as as hot as spontaneous sex.
- 1:08Understanding your own needs or what you you can do to like work work towards solving,
- 1:15getting your needs met as well.
- 1:18Hi, everybody.
- 1:19Welcome back to another episode of The Lounge.
- 1:22I have a treat for you today.
- 1:23We are talking about something we've talked about before, which is desire mismatch.
- 1:28But we are talking about it from a man's perspective.
- 1:32So I have with me to introduce you guys to my partner, Mike.
- 1:36And we are gonna talk today.
- 1:38I'm gonna get his thoughts on this topic to help you guys.
- 1:42And I also wanna remind you that we are in love season right now, and for our love season, you
- 1:47can get my four day to better sex jump start course for 30% off.
- 1:52So links for that will be in the show notes.
- 1:56That there will be a coupon code for 30% off that will expire soon, so make sure you take
- 2:00advantage of that.
- 2:02And without further ado, welcome to the lounge, Mike.
- 2:06Thanks for having me over.
- 2:07I'm happy excited to share what we got here, but not too personal, I hope.
- 2:11A little personal, but keep it in, you know, the realms of our own our own love and our own
- 2:17special bubble and all that too, of course.
- 2:20So let's jump in.
- 2:22So we, like every couple out there like, one of the things that I feel is that every couple, if
- 2:27you are together long enough, you are going to to go through times where one partner wants it
- 2:33more than the other, and it can change at different points of the relationship and of
- 2:37life.
- 2:38So within our own experience and within our own love bubble of things that we have experienced
- 2:45with desires, my question for you is what have our own desire mismatches as they've come up?
- 2:53What have they taught you about keeping the spark alive?
- 2:59The biggest thing I think is, I guess, as you get older, the stress takes more of a a impact
- 3:07on both sides.
- 3:08You know?
- 3:09From my experience, then I probably call just a number of times you're greener at work.
- 3:14You get stressed out.
- 3:15You come home, and it's just not either reading in the mood, of course, as you know.
- 3:22And then having you know, we both have busy careers and stuff.
- 3:26We were both running businesses.
- 3:27I had three you know, got three kids and everything.
- 3:30And just just a lot of different factors outside that can impact the navigating all the
- 3:38logistics, and then on top of that, coming back you know, creating space to make time for each
- 3:44other.
- 3:44That's really, I would say, the the biggest thing I've I've I've learned in the past time.
- 3:50Because I feel like what's come up for us probably the most and challenging is like, oh,
- 3:54okay.
- 3:55Well, we have, you know, the kid nights, and sometimes the kids are with their mom.
- 3:59And, you know, when it's like kid nights, it's like like, oh, yeah.
- 4:02Kids will go to bed, and we're gonna, like, still, like, get it in.
- 4:05And, like, I think it's pretty rare that when the kids go to bed on some of those nights
- 4:09because we're so involved, and it's so such a part of it, and it's so easy, I think, for the
- 4:15kids to just like, we could just allow that to, like, take over.
- 4:19So what do you think?
- 4:20Do you think we've done anything in particular?
- 4:22Just, when you're saying, like, create time, like, how do you like, how has that, like,
- 4:25looked in your mind as far as organizing that to make sure that we still prioritize each
- 4:30other?
- 4:32Yes.
- 4:33Don't have to clear that.
- 4:34Yes.
- 4:34A 100%.
- 4:35There's a lot of it is and the fact that we enjoy the kid time.
- 4:39It's fun.
- 4:40It's just engaging, though we don't have to, like you know, it's it's it's so integrated and
- 4:44easy and fun just to hang out with all of us.
- 4:46So we kinda, like, almost not forget, but it's kinda, okay.
- 4:49Well, it's just we're gonna get it to the weekend, you know, and then we'll get it to the
- 4:53other.
- 4:54So the things we navigate, how do how do we create space?
- 4:58They say, how do create space for each other?
- 5:00That will work How do we it without the kids or with stress and know?
- 5:03How are we keeping the spark alive?
- 5:04Like, do you think we're doing that keeps that alive?
- 5:07Date night is in particular, prioritizing, especially if the kids are not allowed, making
- 5:14sure that we're taking time for each other.
- 5:16That's probably the the I think the number one thing.
- 5:19It's like, okay.
- 5:20Prioritizing.
- 5:21Okay.
- 5:21We got we got working, and then we got we got a third day and a five oh, crap.
- 5:25We're we're busy Thursday, Friday, so I'm I'm a come over on a on a Tuesday to make sure that
- 5:29we can all have because we're we're kidnaped on one day.
- 5:32So that that my probably my the number one thing.
- 5:37Yeah.
- 5:37And that's one of the points too I think I wanted to make for everybody too because I read
- 5:40a really interesting research article today.
- 5:43I haven't told you about this yet, but it was looking at scheduling sex and planning sex and
- 5:48because a lot of people will believe if it's, like, not spontaneous, if it's, like,
- 5:52scheduled, then it's not as hot.
- 5:54And what this article said in this this research was just published a month ago, so
- 5:58it's, like or several months ago when this video is coming out.
- 6:01But at the time of making this video, it was about a month ago in November.
- 6:06And what the what the article, what this research found was that if people believed
- 6:13planning sex was not hot, then it would actually be not hot.
- 6:18But if they believed it was just, like, just as hot as spontaneous sex, then it actually was
- 6:22just as as hot as spontaneous sex.
- 6:24And what they also found was that when people reprogrammed their minds, so they gave people
- 6:29in this study, they gave them like a research paper that said, hey, planning sex can actually
- 6:35be hot, and then they actually found that if people were doubting that and they thought, oh,
- 6:40it's not hot, and they read the study, then actually they were finding as they planned it,
- 6:44it actually became hot.
- 6:47So I don't feel like we, like you know, it's not like we plan it to the level of, like, oh,
- 6:52yeah, we're always gonna have sex at this time.
- 6:54But I do feel like we do plan it in a way because we look and it's like
- 6:57We're creating a space for it.
- 6:59Right.
- 6:59Okay.
- 6:59That's usually happens, but sometimes life does get in the way.
- 7:04But it's really just creating space for each other to allow that to progress.
- 7:10To unfold.
- 7:10Right.
- 7:11So it's like that awareness of like, wow, it's been some days, and like, looking at the
- 7:15calendar, this is the only time in the week we have to connect, so we better both like commit
- 7:19and prioritize it, otherwise it won't get in.
- 7:22Is that
- 7:22what you'd say?
- 7:23Yeah.
- 7:23Yeah.
- 7:24Okay.
- 7:25So my next question for you, my love, is what advice would you give men out there who feel
- 7:33rejected when a partner libidos drops?
- 7:36And they come on to her, and she maybe saying no and no and no, and maybe it's because and
- 7:41probably is because her libido has just dropped.
- 7:43And I think this can lead to a lot of rejection, and I think it's something that we
- 7:46don't talk a lot about in the wellness space, is we talk about rejection in dating, right,
- 7:54and the impact of that, but we don't talk a lot about the rejection that we can actually have
- 7:58from our partner.
- 8:00So do you have advice for men, like, if they're feeling rejected by their partner that way?
- 8:05Thinking through.
- 8:08I have to take a break from what we were just talking about because I'm so excited to
- 8:11introduce you to a couple of my favorite toys on the market.
- 8:16Because one of the things I really, really am passionate about when it comes to sexual
- 8:21health, pleasure, passion, is not only those things because those are very important, but
- 8:27it's also helping you find ways to deeply heal.
- 8:30And this is why I love the company Mystery Vibes so much because their products I've seen
- 8:36to do just that.
- 8:37So I'm gonna tell you about a couple of these.
- 8:39I have a product for women and a product for men here.
- 8:42So this is a female product.
- 8:44This is called the Crescendo two.
- 8:46You will have links in the show notes.
- 8:49You will also get discounts on this.
- 8:52If you use the code libido 20, you will get discounts on this product.
- 8:57And what's so cool about this product, from a pleasure standpoint, and then we're gonna talk
- 9:01about a health standpoint, but from a pleasure standpoint, look what I can do with this
- 9:05product.
- 9:05It is so bendable.
- 9:07So it has all of these hinges where you can bend it in all of these different ways.
- 9:12And what that's allowing you to do is be very specific around which part of the interior of
- 9:18the vagina, g spot, etcetera, that you are going to access and stimulate.
- 9:23Now what internal studies have shown on this particular product is that it increases arousal
- 9:30about 73% and lubrication up to 93%.
- 9:35So that's where I'm talking about, hey, we can get all of this uniqueness of pleasure.
- 9:39We can pinpoint those spots.
- 9:41We can wake up our vagina in ways that maybe other vibrators can't because you can't get the
- 9:46level of maneuverability and flexibility that you can with this toy.
- 9:50And all of that, and then you can also see in many people an increase in arousal and
- 9:55lubrication for that deep healing component.
- 9:59Also, another product that mystery vibe has for women that also has been shown to improve
- 10:05arousal as well as lubrication is called the legato.
- 10:09I will also put a link in the show notes about that.
- 10:12It's a cock ring that that vibrates the entire vulva.
- 10:15It's phenomenal, so also look for that.
- 10:18Again, the code you're looking for is libido 20 for that discount.
- 10:22And now for all the gentlemen watching.
- 10:24So this is the Tenuto two.
- 10:26So this toy is amazing because it has been researched to improve erections by double.
- 10:34So erections go get better, performance gets better, and it can help with prostate health.
- 10:40So it's a super easy toy to use.
- 10:43It looks a little bit strange when you're looking at it, but all you're gonna do is
- 10:47you're gonna just do penile insertion right here.
- 10:50This back part will sit back on the perineum, and voila, there you go.
- 10:55So again, libido 20 for this.
- 10:57If you guys want better erections, if you wanna be harder longer, if you wanna please your
- 11:03partner longer, and women, if you want to have a better arousal, better lubrication, and wake
- 11:09up those parts of your vagina so that not only are you experiencing more pleasure, more
- 11:14passion, better orgasms in many cases, but you are also deeply healing yourself as well.
- 11:21So again, those will be in the show notes.
- 11:24I hope you take advantage of these discounts and the coupon codes there, libido 20 is your
- 11:29coupon code.
- 11:30I will see you all in a moment as we get back to our show.
- 11:35Quick word from our sponsors before we continue with the episode.
- 11:39Ladies, midlife isn't a crisis.
- 11:42It's a power move.
- 11:43On the Mature Allure podcast, we're flipping the script on aging, beauty, wellness, and
- 11:48everything in between.
- 11:49I'm your host, Sherry O, here to keep it real, fun, and fearless.
- 11:54Ready to embrace every chapter?
- 11:56Hit play on Mature Allure wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 12:03Mature.
- 12:09I think the biggest for a man, obviously, typically, I don't know my experience.
- 12:14People that I talk to, guys have a higher sex drive in general.
- 12:18That's not broad generalization.
- 12:21And I was just I would obviously, the first thing to do is to talk to your partner and find
- 12:28out what's going on.
- 12:28Maybe there's certain circumstances or certain you know, if could be is it a temporary thing?
- 12:34Is this a permanent thing?
- 12:35Or is it a what are the what are the expectations?
- 12:38Are you at all?
- 12:39If, say, for example, one partner want, you know, sex x times a week, the other person want
- 12:45double that time.
- 12:46Know?
- 12:46It's okay.
- 12:47Then what can you do to fill that gap if you a lot and my take a lot of times, it could be
- 12:53life changes as far as you're getting older, the the different changes going through, and
- 12:57that can, you know, on top of the stress, on top of getting into I'm 50 now and just going
- 13:02there's definitely definitely some different changes.
- 13:05So as far as advice, it's more like staying in tune of what reading the room in terms of your
- 13:12partner, talk to your partner, and understanding your own needs of what you you
- 13:16can do to, like, work to work towards solving getting your needs met as well.
- 13:23So I got can can go a bit deeper on that.
- 13:25Has there has there been anything, like, as my because my desire is definitely lower than
- 13:30yours right now.
- 13:31Has there been anything about that that has, like, surprised you in the way that we've
- 13:36navigated it or anything that you've thought has been helpful or not helpful in the way that
- 13:43we've navigated that?
- 13:44Well, it doesn't always have to be just sex.
- 13:47It's more of a underprivilely than that.
- 13:49It can it can having, like, a shirt based and if it's something that you can get, you know,
- 13:56for your guys to have some fun and may or may not be just sex, they could just be other
- 14:01levels of stimulation to, you know, blowjobs or anything else out there that can really help.
- 14:07Kinda as well smooth the ride as always.
- 14:10And, again, that's it's the guy's job that we also express.
- 14:14Hey.
- 14:15I I have a little bit more needs who can actually express that in a in a way that you
- 14:20know?
- 14:20And and also make make your partner want to do it.
- 14:25Like, it may not be just not be just sex, but, like, you know, give them maybe the back
- 14:29massage or give them, like, kind of feeling the the loving feeling to kinda, you know, take
- 14:33care of you as well.
- 14:34That might that would be my take for the guys.
- 14:37Yeah.
- 14:37I agree.
- 14:38You told me the other day that I have back massages on demand, which is not entirely true
- 14:44because you have to work and you have kids, and there's plenty of times you're gonna be like,
- 14:48no.
- 14:48But the point of that is
- 14:50Try to decline.
- 14:51What if
- 14:51I said no?
- 14:52Well, you said not now.
- 14:55What?
- 14:55I'm not allowed to say.
- 14:58Point is, though, that, like, that level of just, you know, giving and providing and and
- 15:04showing up in that way, you know, I think, at least in our relationship, I think there's a
- 15:09huge amount of wanting to make sure there's a level of reciprocity.
- 15:13And it's not, like, tit for tat by any means.
- 15:15It's not only we're keeping a a scorecard.
- 15:17It's more around like, oh, you're taking care of me and I wanna take care of you.
- 15:21And that's sort of like the energy, the kind of the fundamental value I think that we both
- 15:25share.
- 15:26And probably one of the fundamental values I think that people, like, just get off track
- 15:31with being on the same team on.
- 15:32Right.
- 15:33Would you say?
- 15:34Yeah.
- 15:34100%.
- 15:36I guess you could say I'd always trying to be reading what your partner wanted to.
- 15:41So, oh, yeah.
- 15:41I wish, you know, if you hear your partner said something, I wish x y z.
- 15:45Take take note and to to if you can you know, if it's something something about that you can
- 15:50fulfill, maybe some you know, vanity or not, sometimes it one bigger thing, I am a little
- 15:58messier than she is.
- 16:02Keeping we have separate places.
- 16:05Keeping my place neat is actually a huge value add when she comes over.
- 16:10So that's just, like, one of the things that we actually have actually had conversations about.
- 16:13We're trying to make sure and actually that's something I actually missed the cues I actually
- 16:18missed was keeping my place clean.
- 16:21That she took the initiative to actually, you know, have a conversation with me to help.
- 16:27Okay.
- 16:27This is a is this actually something important to us?
- 16:29So what what It actually helped a lot to actually have my place clean.
- 16:33That's what I had noticed.
- 16:34So
- 16:35And okay.
- 16:35So another thing I think is worth talking about is, like, how because, like, the way when I'm
- 16:41making requests of you or vice versa, I think we've, like, navigated that so well.
- 16:46So in this example, when I was asking you and talking about, like, hey.
- 16:50I wanna change the way this place has kept up.
- 16:53How like, what about that approach works for you?
- 16:58You were pretty direct, but that helped.
- 17:02I mean, when somebody's direct, I I that that to me.
- 17:05And the it's kind of the way it started was I'm pretty, you know, nonchalant with being a
- 17:15little messier, and my kid kinda followed that same pattern.
- 17:18And when, you know, she made a comment about something, hey.
- 17:23Could you tell me about keeping the trash can?
- 17:26I I was, oh, yeah.
- 17:27Tell me I missed some, like, a trashy joke, and that kid my kid started laughing, and and it
- 17:33was actually not the response that she was looking for.
- 17:37So that that that triggered, okay, a more a conversation that, okay, this is actually a
- 17:42value for her to keep her place clean because, you know, how she feel, you know, whatever.
- 17:49It's one of the core values that she was brought up with that I was not.
- 17:53I would it was attempted by my parents, but that it did not succeed as well.
- 17:57They should have had.
- 17:59So
- 17:59And I think where that, like, applies, like, sexually, like, one of the things that I've
- 18:03noticed is, like, those things, and and I think a lot of women have their a lot of humans have
- 18:08their own version of this, right, and the version of what I notice is when a place is
- 18:13clean and organized, it's almost like my brain can rest and can focus.
- 18:18So it's so much easier than if my partner's coming on to me to be like, oh, I'm not seeing
- 18:24the dirt on the floor, I'm not seeing all the other things, and it's easier for me to
- 18:27actually be present to the pleasure.
- 18:29And I think what you're talking about around the joke, you're right, because there was a
- 18:33moment when it was like, oh, was just an immediate joke, where I think I pulled back and
- 18:38had a moment of like, wow, I'm not being taken seriously or something, but you quickly
- 18:42recognize that and
- 18:45yeah.
- 18:45And Because you were direct.
- 18:47That's
- 18:49a good thing.
- 18:49Yeah.
- 18:50Yeah.
- 18:50Yeah.
- 18:51Yeah.
- 18:51So
- 18:52Anything else that you feel like from a desire mismatch standpoint is, like, something you've
- 18:58learned and how we navigate that?
- 19:02Biggest thing, I mean, like I said, is making sure that you can act, make request, and
- 19:11getting creative.
- 19:12Even if you need to get the boys need to get footage from some fun footage, to use that as a
- 19:20tool on your own time.
- 19:21And that that can be I don't know what other desire mismatches, but communicating and get a
- 19:28little creative.
- 19:29That's probably the top two.
- 19:31Yeah.
- 19:31Great.
- 19:33Well, thank you for sharing all that, my love.
