- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here, and in this episode of The Hypnotist, you'll
- 0:44be listening to a hypnosis session designed to reactivate
- 0:50and rekindle. A love.
- 0:51For running, particularly long distance running, and I was
- 0:56working with a client that in the past, we're talking 1015
- 1:00years plus in the past was an ultra distance runner.
- 1:04And this is lengths beyond a marathon, sometimes 50 miles,
- 1:09sometimes even 100 miles, incredibly long distances.
- 1:14And that requires a certain mindset.
- 1:16And they felt that. They'd lost.
- 1:19Access to that, clearly they were older than that version of
- 1:23them. But equally that.
- 1:26Drive that motivation, that discipline wasn't quite where it
- 1:30was. They were looking for excuses or
- 1:34why they couldn't do it, rather than why they could.
- 1:37So this is framed as looking at a marathon.
- 1:43As. A way of reactivating that
- 1:47runner identity and the marathon was less distance than they've
- 1:53run in the past. But still.
- 1:55The longest they would have run in 15 years or so and therefore
- 2:00a really good challenge and immediately.
- 2:05After. I was discussing this challenge
- 2:07with the client before the hypnosis started.
- 2:10I. Could see that.
- 2:10Resource state already. Being activated, they were
- 2:13thinking about what their training schedule was going to
- 2:16be like and whether or not they needed.
- 2:19You know, additional. Clothing and and those kind of
- 2:21things. And that's normally a good.
- 2:23Sign of awakening. That part, the hypnosis really
- 2:27solidifies that element of awakening.
- 2:31The resources thinking about what it would be like in the run
- 2:36up to that. And they were thinking that it
- 2:39might take them around about 6-7 months to kind of prepare.
- 2:44So they were thinking of a specific marathon taking place
- 2:48in around about June or July that would give them enough time
- 2:52to prepare. And of course, we're in winter
- 2:56right now, so there would be windy, rainy days.
- 3:01Cold days. And it was really important to
- 3:05frame this and you'll hear this in the hypnosis that.
- 3:08The more. Difficult the more challenging.
- 3:11The more. Unpleasant it is, the more
- 3:15appealing it becomes and and for people that do certain sports,
- 3:20particularly those kind of things that seem crazy to other
- 3:24people, it does create a really powerful polarity response.
- 3:28The fact that it's difficult is what makes it appealing.
- 3:33There's something very. Stoic about doing the difficult
- 3:37thing, taking the difficult path, and I knew that that.
- 3:41Had to exist. Within the the mind of this
- 3:44client in the past, because nobody would run for 100 miles
- 3:49if they weren't willing to. Dig deep and.
- 3:52Have that resilience, have that kind of element of dealing with
- 3:56pain and tiredness and fatigue and doing it anyway.
- 4:01So that's a really important element of that.
- 4:03I would say this session will be useful for anyone that wants to
- 4:08not just reawaken a part that wants to get fitter or that did
- 4:14sporty things. But you can think of running as
- 4:17a metaphor here. If there was a part of you in
- 4:20the past that was more confident, more sociable, more
- 4:25creative, you can use running as a broader metaphor to reawaken a
- 4:31time in your life. Where you felt you were at your
- 4:33best. Or a time when you were.
- 4:35Proud of yourself. But equally, anyone that wants
- 4:39to get fitter might also be inspired at this idea of setting
- 4:43a challenge and then using the challenge as evidence that they
- 4:47can do more than they think. If you're interested in working
- 4:50with me directly, there will be a link in the show notes or on
- 4:53my website adamcox.co.uk. You can check me out there.
- 4:56Book a free 30 minute consultation call and we can see
- 4:59if it makes sense for us to work together.
- 5:01In the meantime, check out this session.
- 5:03So ideally, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 5:06won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:40Take a deep. Breath in.
- 5:45And as you breathe in, breathe in a slow, long, relaxing
- 5:52breath. And as you exhale, feel.
- 5:58A wonderful sense. Of letting go.
- 6:02Of releasing any tension, of feeling it.
- 6:07Leave your body in that outward breath.
- 6:14As you breathe in, breathe in deeper, and as you exhale,
- 6:20exhale for longer as you start to activate the diaphragm.
- 6:29Enabling you to. Breathe in deeper, giving you
- 6:36more of that oxygen. But I want you to imagine you're
- 6:40breathing in. More than just.
- 6:42Oxygen, I want you to imagine what a colour of resourcefulness
- 6:53would look like to you. Any resources that would be
- 7:00desirable or appealing are the very resources you would
- 7:04imagine. And maybe there's a bright
- 7:08vibrant colour, yellow or orange or something else.
- 7:15And just imagine breathing in that colour of resourcefulness.
- 7:25Feel it going into your lungs and imagine your heart
- 7:28distributing those resources to every cell of your being.
- 7:36And as you exhale. Imagine a grey dark colour
- 7:41leaving your body and allow this to represent anything holding
- 7:52you back. Any fears, doubts, hesitations,
- 8:00any excuses, just imagine them leaving your body, breathing in
- 8:08that bright feeling of resourcefulness.
- 8:11And exhaling the. Shadows of self doubt, of
- 8:17procrastination or delay. And as you breathe in that
- 8:24vibrant colour of resourcefulness, you're reminded
- 8:29that your choices are your own, that you are the architect of
- 8:35your life and your future. And once you've decided?
- 8:41You will do something. It is impossible for anyone else
- 8:50to deter you feel that you are awakening that disciplined,
- 9:01determined, dare I say it's stubborn part of you that will
- 9:06do what you. Plan on doing.
- 9:12And the more difficult it becomes, the more appealing it
- 9:15feels. Breathe in and.
- 9:22Breathe out letting. Go of any tension, any
- 9:25distractions, and just allow yourself to feel present.
- 9:31And in the moment. Become aware of fabric, material
- 9:39on your skin, the temperature in the room, and with each breath
- 9:45you take, just imagine yourself sinking a little deeper into a
- 9:50state of comfort and calm. Allowing your body.
- 9:59To relax and your. Mind to drift?
- 10:05As you focus on the sound of my voice and now with every breath
- 10:12you take, breathe in more of that bright colour of
- 10:17resourceful relaxation. But imagine it vibrating at a
- 10:25cellular level from the top of your head, gradually going down.
- 10:35Feel that rhythm of breath and ever increasing relaxation as
- 10:46you feel that relaxation flowing.
- 10:48From the top of your head. All the way down.
- 10:53Down the muscles in your face, neck and shoulders.
- 10:56Down the tips of your fingers. Feel that resourcefulness
- 11:02rippling down your chest, torso, down into your legs, all the way
- 11:08down to the very tips of your toes.
- 11:13With each exhale, feel any remaining tensions, stresses, or
- 11:19worries melting away and leaving your body in that outward
- 11:23breath, leaving your body feeling lighter yet deeply at
- 11:30ease and as you. Relax more deeply.
- 11:39I want you to recall a time when you enjoyed running.
- 11:45Maybe a specific run in a specific part of the world.
- 11:54Maybe you can recall the temperature of the air, the
- 11:58rhythm of your running. The surroundings.
- 12:03How you felt in that moment. Maybe there was a smell
- 12:09connected to the nature, maybe there was sounds or familiar
- 12:16voices. And as you reconnect to that
- 12:22version of you feel alive, connected, powerful, feel strong
- 12:34and disciplined and determined. Perhaps you can remember the
- 12:40feeling of your. Feet hitting the ground, the
- 12:43rhythm of your. Breathing the flow of your
- 12:45movement, it may even feel like home.
- 12:53Each step you take on this trail pulls you further into a sense
- 12:58of clarity, purpose, fulfilment, even joy.
- 13:05Each step, each moment of rhythm.
- 13:11Feel your mind awakening, opening, accessing a part of you
- 13:17that perhaps has been dormant for a while.
- 13:26Maybe that version of you is like the phoenix, feel it rising
- 13:31from the flames, the runner, the person that people would see and
- 13:40think, how do they do that? Awaken that part, that
- 13:52adventurer, that version of you that did the difficult thing,
- 14:01not because you had to, but because you wanted to.
- 14:09And as you continue on that. Imaginary run.
- 14:15From your past, maybe you can recall a different time when you
- 14:22were training, a time when you needed to prepare, to schedule,
- 14:32to work backwards, to look at your diary and ensure the
- 14:41training and the runs got done. All those skills, planning,
- 14:52preparation from your past have not been forgotten.
- 14:59Feel that you're dusting the cobwebs away from those skills
- 15:03and abilities. They are thawing.
- 15:09Thawing like a tree in the days after snowfall where it's
- 15:15melting away. Feel that you are reactivating
- 15:21the skills and resources necessary.
- 15:26Step into that version of you training hard.
- 15:31Feel strong, determined, and focused.
- 15:36Feel the power in your legs, the rhythm in your stride, the
- 15:41capacity in your lungs. Perhaps you can even recall the
- 15:50time that you push beyond even your own perceived limits.
- 15:56And I wonder how many times you've surprised yourself,
- 16:01surprised others. And what if this is the time in
- 16:08your life where you surprise yourself again and maybe
- 16:14surprise a few other people that didn't know your accomplishments
- 16:23of your past? Feel that you are now embarking
- 16:33on a quest to do something for nobody else but you?
- 16:47The satisfaction it will give you.
- 16:51Reawakening confidence and belief.
- 16:55Mental fortitude. And if that's the reason, then
- 17:04on those cold, windy, rainy days, wouldn't that give you
- 17:10more of that pride, satisfaction, emotional and
- 17:19psychological strength? In fact, the tougher it gets,
- 17:28the more motivating and appealing it seems to hold for
- 17:30you because those qualities of the past, your grit, your
- 17:38passion, your perseverance are not lost.
- 17:44They are just waiting for the challenge to be awakened.
- 17:51Perhaps you could imagine a bonfire that seems to have
- 18:00dulled down, but it's still flickering with flames, and all
- 18:06it needs is the right material for those flames to roar back
- 18:13into life. And what if it's something as
- 18:16simple as you booking a marathon, buying the tickets,
- 18:24waiting for that number to arrive?
- 18:27What if that's all it takes to reawaken the qualities and
- 18:32resources that are lying dormant within you?
- 18:41And you know that this marathon is not just about finishing a
- 18:46race, It's about who you become training and preparing and
- 18:54completing it. Reawakening that version of you,
- 19:02then, still exists, and each cold, rainy day, each hill you
- 19:10climb, every mile you run becomes part of the story you're
- 19:16writing the story of strength, resilience, determination.
- 19:27And the more challenging the journey, the sweeter the
- 19:30victory. Did you find yourself drawn to
- 19:34this challenge not in spite of the obstacles, but because of
- 19:39them? They are what will make this
- 19:45truly meaningful and perhaps you could imagine going forwards in
- 19:56time to the morning of a marathon.
- 20:00Maybe you could imagine yourself lacing up your shoes, pinning a
- 20:06number to your shirt, and on that day of the race, you're
- 20:18reminded of all of those previous times that you went out
- 20:23for just 5 minutes. Those five minute runs that
- 20:28ended up being half an hour or more is what needed to happen
- 20:33for you to feel prepared for the day of the marathon.
- 20:40Those 5 minutes? What about 5 minutes?
- 20:44It was about breaking inertia, building momentum, starting,
- 20:52reactivating the rhythm of your lungs, the rhythm of your legs.
- 21:01Sometimes the hardest part is just leaving that front door and
- 21:07starting. And the more you do it, the
- 21:12easier it gets. Each run makes the next run
- 21:17easier. Before long, those small runs
- 21:26become longer and you look forward to catching a ferry,
- 21:34changing the location, going for those longer runs.
- 21:38And all of this took place in the run up to the day of an
- 21:43official marathon. And maybe you could imagine that
- 21:53because there is an element of doing something outside of the
- 22:00norm on those days that you got yourself on that ferry, tackling
- 22:08longer runs, All of it is purposeful.
- 22:16Feel aligned with the purpose. And maybe you're why is just
- 22:25because you can. Maybe you're wise because it's
- 22:31difficult. That's what makes it appealing
- 22:37to find yourself back there to the day of the marathon.
- 22:40Feel the excitement, all the other people stretching, going
- 22:51up to that starting line, and feel a sense of pride that even
- 22:56as you start the race, you're proud of all the training you
- 23:01did that led up to that point. Feel a sense of preparedness in
- 23:09your body, and every step of the race reminds you of your
- 23:16journey. Those early mornings, the rainy
- 23:20runs, the hills, the terrains, but also those sunny days that
- 23:29running is just a metaphor for life.
- 23:34Some days are easy, some days are hard, but you've chosen to
- 23:41do something challenging, becoming stronger in the
- 23:49process. And imagine finding a rhythm on
- 23:55that day of the marathon, all the way until seeing a key
- 24:03number signifying not much left. Maybe it's the 20 mile, knowing
- 24:12that it's the final stretch and feel a sense of digging deep
- 24:20that resolve. And perhaps you can see the
- 24:29finishing line up ahead. The time isn't important,
- 24:39finishing is. And as you cross that finish
- 24:42line, feel a wonderful sense of all the emotions flooding to
- 24:52you. I want you to get a sense then,
- 25:02this is not a possibility. This is a destiny, and you will
- 25:10prepare for this destiny in a way that ensures its success.
- 25:21Perhaps there's someone waiting for you beyond the finishing
- 25:23line. Perhaps imagine a hug and
- 25:27embrace. Perhaps imagine taking a drink
- 25:34or eating something and feel that this is not one day,
- 25:43someday. This is just a few months in
- 25:47your future and if you feel excited and inspired to manifest
- 25:57this future, let me know by nodding your head.
- 26:02That's it. Consider this a seed sown deep
- 26:08in your subconscious mind. Roots are already starting to
- 26:13form and in those few months of training, the tree will grow.
- 26:20And when you complete and finish the marathon, that seed of an
- 26:28idea will bear fruit. It's time to return to this
- 26:34moment, taking all of these awakened resources, sense of
- 26:38clarity, motivation, inspiration, all the way back to
- 26:43the here and now. So take a deep breath in through
- 26:45your nose and out through your nose.
- 26:50Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 26:52Connect fully into the here and now as I now count from 1:00 to
- 26:5710:00 to awaken you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 27:04456, more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 27:08Open your eyes 910 Wide awake, Wide awake.
