- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, Emily a Body here and if you're new
- 0:18Speaker 1: to the feed, welcome. I expect that some new years
- 0:22Speaker 1: will be listening in on this episode. You are listening
- 0:26Speaker 1: to Hurdle, a wellness focused podcast where I sit down
- 0:30Speaker 1: with inspiring individuals to talk about everything from their big
- 0:33Speaker 1: wins to how they've gone through some of life's toughest moments.
- 0:37Speaker 1: On the show, you can expect vulnerability, motivation, and candid
- 0:41Speaker 1: discussions with everyone from top athletes to aspiring entrepreneurs on
- 0:46Speaker 1: what it really takes to follow your passions. My mission
- 0:49Speaker 1: is simple to inspire you to be your best self,
- 0:53Speaker 1: move with intention, and have some fun along the way.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And fun and intention are exactactly what this snippet of
- 1:01Speaker 1: an episode is about. Now. If you follow me on Instagram,
- 1:05Speaker 1: over at Emily a Body or at Hurdle podcast, you
- 1:09Speaker 1: know that I am an avid runner, but I haven't
- 1:13Speaker 1: always been that way. These days, I'm doing something that
- 1:17Speaker 1: has been deemed the lace up very often and it's
- 1:20Speaker 1: pretty simple. I literally put down my cell phone. It
- 1:24Speaker 1: sounds silly every time I say this out loud. Put
- 1:27Speaker 1: down my cell phone, sit on a small pillow, tie
- 1:31Speaker 1: my shoes on camera, post it to social media and
- 1:34Speaker 1: head out for a run. It's just that simple. Usually
- 1:38Speaker 1: I tag it with some music, maybe a thought or
- 1:41Speaker 1: feeling about where I'm at, and that's it. It's become
- 1:44Speaker 1: something that warms my heart when I see other people
- 1:48Speaker 1: posting their lace ups, getting up, getting out and again
- 1:51Speaker 1: moving with intention, and that's what it's all about. So
- 1:56Speaker 1: this week, in honor of Hurdle's one hundredth episode, I
- 2:00Speaker 1: am issuing it to you, the lace Up Challenge. That's right.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I want everyone everywhere listening to this in this time
- 2:09Speaker 1: where everything feels uncertain and we're just looking for a
- 2:13Speaker 1: little bit of community wherever we can get it, to
- 2:15Speaker 1: post a lace up of their own. Now, before I
- 2:18Speaker 1: get into the logistics, I just want you to understand
- 2:21Speaker 1: why this means so much to me, why every single
- 2:25Speaker 1: lace up makes a difference. When I started running back
- 2:29Speaker 1: in college over ten years ago, I hated it. I
- 2:33Speaker 1: felt like it was so difficult. I felt as though
- 2:36Speaker 1: I was awful at it. At the time, I was
- 2:38Speaker 1: working at a summer camp and so I didn't have
- 2:41Speaker 1: any other option except really to try running. There was
- 2:45Speaker 1: no big box gym, no Planet Fitness, no elliptical for me.
- 2:49Speaker 1: To hop on mindlessly for forty five minutes. So how
- 2:52Speaker 1: I really got in to running was literally lacing up
- 2:56Speaker 1: every single day and going out for fourteen minutes. I'd
- 3:00Speaker 1: run the same route every single day, and every single
- 3:04Speaker 1: day I felt better for it. Listen, some lace ups
- 3:07Speaker 1: are going to be better than others. But what's important
- 3:10Speaker 1: is that you're sitting down and you're lacing up in
- 3:13Speaker 1: the first place. That summer of lacing up for those
- 3:16Speaker 1: fourteen minute runs, it changed my life forever. Now I
- 3:20Speaker 1: sit here talking into this microphone as an eight time
- 3:24Speaker 1: marathon or someone who has gained so much value and
- 3:27Speaker 1: perspective just by getting out there in the first place.
- 3:30Speaker 1: And so thus I present you in celebration of episode
- 3:34Speaker 1: one hundred, the lace Up Challenge. Now Here is how
- 3:38Speaker 1: it's going to work. There are two rules. The first
- 3:41Speaker 1: rule you must tag at Emily Body and at Hurdle
- 3:45Speaker 1: Podcast as well as hashtag hashtag the lace Up hashtag
- 3:50Speaker 1: the lace Up Challenge now before you post, invite at
- 3:54Speaker 1: least two friends to join you in the Laceup Challenge
- 3:58Speaker 1: by tagging them in your video. As far as what
- 4:02Speaker 1: you're lacing up for, it can be literally anything. Maybe
- 4:06Speaker 1: you're putting on sneakers to do some burpees inside of
- 4:09Speaker 1: your apartment. Maybe you're going out for a run. Maybe heck,
- 4:12Speaker 1: no sneakers at all, You're just putting on socks and
- 4:15Speaker 1: doing some sort of bar workout or body weight squats
- 4:18Speaker 1: or whatever it is that you want. The only thing
- 4:20Speaker 1: that matters in the Lace Up Challenge is that you
- 4:23Speaker 1: are getting ready to move with intention, whatever that movement
- 4:29Speaker 1: might be. Everyone who posts this video will be entered
- 4:33Speaker 1: to win an outstanding prize pack details in the description
- 4:37Speaker 1: to this episode. In it, I've got a whoop, I've
- 4:39Speaker 1: got athletic greens, I've got beam and I will personally
- 4:43Speaker 1: donate one hundred dollars to the charity of the winner's choice. Again,
- 4:48Speaker 1: I think we can all use a little bit of
- 4:50Speaker 1: positivity here and I am here to be your cheerleader
- 4:54Speaker 1: just like you have been mine over the past two
- 4:57Speaker 1: plus years of Hurdle And that's Those are the rules.
- 5:00Speaker 1: If you have any questions, concerns, comments, if you're excited,
- 5:04Speaker 1: I want to know at Emily a body at Hurdle
- 5:06Speaker 1: Podcast and thank you from the bottom of my heart
- 5:10Speaker 1: for being absolute rock stars. Let's get to lacing
