- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here. And you're about to listen to a
- 0:42smoking cessation hypnosis session with a difference.
- 0:46And normally I do timeline work and creating emotional leverage,
- 0:52but this was slightly different because the client told me that
- 0:55they had a voice that comes up that almost pesters and controls
- 1:00them to smoke at a particular time of the day.
- 1:04And the way that that part was communicating, I could tell it
- 1:08was a disassociated part. And it's disassociated because
- 1:13it says things like you can't get rid of me, not you can't get
- 1:17rid of I, you know, or myself. It was me.
- 1:20So therefore it's disassociated. And she described this part as
- 1:24looking like like a weird worm with a top hat and quite
- 1:29arrogant and smug in how it's communicating.
- 1:32So we do parts integration therapy, but also parts
- 1:36submodality shifts by giving this part the opportunity to
- 1:42become more influential and more integrated, but only if it meets
- 1:47the same intention in a more elegant and empowering way.
- 1:52This client would quite often have a cigarette at the end of
- 1:54the day as a tree as a way of escaping, relaxing and just
- 1:58ending the day. But what they wanted to do is to
- 2:02replace that with something indulgent but in an empowering
- 2:06way. And they wanted high quality
- 2:10chocolates to be that catalyst. So they could imagine that if
- 2:13they had, you know, a busy day, a stressful day or an
- 2:16accomplished day, they could end it with a high quality
- 2:19chocolate. And in doing so, that is an
- 2:22indulgent and yet empowering way.
- 2:25Chocolate's only a bad thing if you eat a lot of poor quality
- 2:29chocolate, just the occasional one or two chocolates a day.
- 2:33If they have high amounts of coca solids, it's actually quite
- 2:36good, helps release serotonin and if it's linked to
- 2:40accomplishment, even dopamine, because then it becomes a
- 2:43sensory anchor to feeling good and accomplished and grateful,
- 2:48all of these wonderful things. So there's a bit going on here.
- 2:51Now, it is unlikely that you have exactly the same dynamics
- 2:56going on as the client that I was working with.
- 2:58You may have a conflicted part that's trying to influence you
- 3:02to smoke. Maybe your habit is different
- 3:05from smoking and and not that. And maybe nature is not your
- 3:10place where you feel relaxed and maybe chocolate isn't the thing
- 3:13that you want to do instead of smoking at the end of the day.
- 3:17But I would encourage you to listen to this if you are a
- 3:19smoker and want to quit because there will be elements of this
- 3:23that you get benefit from. But if you do want a customized
- 3:27bespoke session just for you, then I'll put a link in the
- 3:30description. If you click more in more about
- 3:33the show or more information or description, you can expand
- 3:37that. There'll be lots of different
- 3:38links. There's lots of free stuff in
- 3:39there like free courses, free downloads, but there is also a
- 3:43way that you can book a free 30 minute Zoom consultation call.
- 3:47We'll have a chat and we could end up working together.
- 3:50For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:53won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:21Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 4:29wonderful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 4:33And as you exhale, feel that feeling of release, as if any
- 4:42tension, stress or worries start to leave your body in your
- 4:49outward breath. Each breath taking you deeper
- 4:58and deeper, relaxed as you scan your body for any clues of
- 5:03tension, maybe your jaw, your forehead and neck of your
- 5:10shoulders. And every time you breathe out,
- 5:15consider it release valve tension is being released and
- 5:24just imagine how relaxed you can make that jaw.
- 5:30Imagine feeling your tongue in your mouth feel relaxed, but
- 5:37when you breathe in, it comes from the diaphragm, not your
- 5:41chest or your nose. Almost like your body's doing
- 5:46the breathing for you, and the deeper you breathe, the more
- 5:53relaxed you feel. And the more relaxed you feel,
- 5:59the deeper you breathe. A wonderful cycle of ever
- 6:05increasing relaxation. Not that you need to be relaxed
- 6:13to experience hypnosis, because you already know what hypnosis
- 6:18feels like. You've already been following
- 6:23suggestions from a part of you that didn't deserve the
- 6:29influence to suggest you know what it's like to do a behaviour
- 6:36that feels right in the moment, even if it doesn't fit with who
- 6:41you are right now. But as your body relaxes, your
- 6:49imagination awakens, and I wonder if you could imagine what
- 6:55it would be like to be in beautiful nature.
- 7:04Maybe it's trees and woodland, meadows and grass, and you get
- 7:11to decide when in the year you're in that environment.
- 7:19Spring day, sounds of birds, a summer's day, bright green
- 7:27leaves or an autumn day with all of those wonderful colours of
- 7:33the leaves. And just allow your unconscious
- 7:38to imagine you in that nature. Feeling of oneness, feeling
- 7:46connected, feeling that you are you and don't need to be anyone
- 7:53else. You don't need to be better than
- 7:58or worse than you are simply you.
- 8:04And notice when you have that full acceptance, that natural
- 8:09mindfulness, there is no desire to choose substitutes because
- 8:16they're not needed. And I want you to get a feeling
- 8:23that for a while now, almost everything is aligned, but there
- 8:31is just one echo of your past which doesn't quite fit.
- 8:39I want you to get a feeling then there was a time when the act of
- 8:45smoking did fit who you were. Maybe that was in your teenage
- 8:52years or early 20s, and that was fine for that time, but there
- 9:02was a time when you were one or two years old that you would
- 9:08have a dummy or suck your thumb and you don't do those anymore.
- 9:14And yet you are still you. I want you to get a feeling that
- 9:20smoking is just an echo of who you used to be, not who you are
- 9:27anymore. And wouldn't it be good to still
- 9:32be you, rather than an echo of you?
- 9:40I want you to imagine, as you explore that nature, finding a
- 9:46very comfortable chair, the kind of chair that definitely does
- 9:51not belong around trees. And yet there, in your
- 9:55imagination, it is. And just imagine sinking into
- 10:00that chair, feeling even more deeply relaxed.
- 10:07And as I countdown from 5 to 1, I want you to imagine sinking
- 10:14deeply into the chair full of pure relaxation. 5 imagining a
- 10:23yawn. 4 arms heavier, 3, just feeling all of your internal
- 10:32organs relax down into your guard, and then two legs feeling
- 10:38heavier so your arms and legs are like the limbs of a puppet
- 10:42with no strings. And then one, from the tips of
- 10:47your toes to the top of your head all the way down to your
- 10:52fingertips, feel a ripple of relaxation.
- 11:00And imagine sinking into that comfortable chair out in nature,
- 11:03breathing in fresh air, and start to imagine a new ritual, a
- 11:11new relationship, a new standard with yourself.
- 11:18But before we set that standard, I want you to bring forth a part
- 11:24that's always had a good intention, But the way that it
- 11:29delivered, it was almost like a parasite taking from you,
- 11:36controlling you, forcing you, coercing you.
- 11:46And I want you to imagine that part, whichever form it takes.
- 11:51And maybe, maybe it's wearing a hat, maybe it has a tone of
- 11:58voice, maybe there's certain things that you never really
- 12:03realise. But if this part was another
- 12:06human, every time they tried to influence you, it would make you
- 12:12want to do the opposite. I want you to look at all these
- 12:19things that make you feel Then in its current form, the more it
- 12:25tries to influence you, the more defiant, stubborn you become to
- 12:34do the very opposite. And I want you to imagine
- 12:38yourself perhaps late afternoon, early evening.
- 12:46And that part appears almost with an entitled, arrogant tone.
- 12:55I'm here. You're not going to get rid of
- 12:57me. You will do as I say, and only
- 13:02then I will go away. But now it feels different.
- 13:09It feels like the more it tries to coerce you, the more defiant
- 13:15you become. And I want you to imagine this
- 13:20part looking that way, sounding that way, being more tenacious
- 13:27than ever. And it simply creates the
- 13:31opposite state in you. A refusal, a sense of defiance.
- 13:40You will do what you want to do, not what this part is coercing
- 13:45you to do. And if you can reach that point
- 13:50where enough is enough, that they've lost all of their power
- 13:55and nothing they say or do can make you want to smoke, let me
- 14:01know by nodding your head, and maybe you can see an expression
- 14:09of defeat or confusion. It's lost its power.
- 14:16And there might be a part that says, well, I'll just come back
- 14:19tomorrow. But I want you to let that part
- 14:23know that under no circumstances will you respond while it talks
- 14:30to you in that way. I want you to ask what its
- 14:38positive intention has always been for you.
- 14:42Just check if it's to protect, to keep you safe.
- 14:46And if it is, let me know about nodding your head.
- 14:51And I think it's been trying to keep you safe by keeping you
- 14:56small, holding you back. Many people believe that they
- 15:02shouldn't put their head above the parapet.
- 15:07It's not safe to be that tall poppy in case someone chops you
- 15:12down to size. But I want you to communicate
- 15:18with that part and say that you're grateful for the
- 15:22intention, but you no longer accept the way in which they're
- 15:28helping. They want to keep you connected
- 15:34to your past, fine, but there's so many things that are
- 15:38wonderful from your past that you do want to maintain in your
- 15:41future. And I want you to ask that part
- 15:48to make a choice to either be banished or to be promoted, that
- 15:57if it insists on taking its current form, current tonality,
- 16:04current objective, it's no longer welcome.
- 16:09But if it's willing to have more responsibility to evolve into a
- 16:14new form, well, then it gets to be part part of the pack, part
- 16:23of the tribe. It gets to be an insider rather
- 16:29than an outsider. And if it's receptive to this
- 16:34shift, let me know by nodding your head.
- 16:40And I want you to say that the new role, the new role is to
- 16:45empower you with high standards. The new role is to keep you safe
- 16:54through excellent decision making and also to remind you to
- 17:02have humility that no matter how successful you become, you will
- 17:09never forget where you're from. And if this part is willing to
- 17:14take those responsibilities on a probation basis, let me know
- 17:20about nodding your head and then ask it ask it to take that form.
- 17:32And when it shifts and changes, how it looks, how it sounds, how
- 17:39it encourages you rather than belittles you, how it wants you
- 17:46to Strive to do more, have more, be more.
- 17:55It is how this part wants you to end the day with something
- 18:00indulgent and yet empowering. And I want you to think.
- 18:10Think about what it would be like on a day where you've done
- 18:17things that make you proud, feel accomplished, you've worked
- 18:23hard. And I want you to imagine what
- 18:26it would be like to have some luxurious, high quality
- 18:34chocolates. To have one at a point of quiet
- 18:40reflection, a respite. Just time with yourself to think
- 18:50over the day, to maybe reminisce from your past.
- 18:56Not because you have to, but you may find yourself doing that.
- 19:00And I want you to see if that evolved part feels that this
- 19:10does what smoking was trying to do, but better.
- 19:17And if it agrees, let me know about nodding your head.
- 19:24And I want you to ask that part. It is welcome, if you deserve it
- 19:35to prompt you, not you to do this kind of empowering
- 19:41indulgence. You feel deserving, mindful.
- 19:50The whole world does not exist in that moment.
- 19:53You escape everything and yet it enhances your life.
- 20:01It doesn't diminish, it doesn't hold you back, doesn't give you
- 20:06any regrets, no shame. And if that part agrees that it
- 20:15will help you to feel. Even more worthy, even more
- 20:24capable, even more proud of what you do and how you do it.
- 20:33Then it's past the interview and gets the promotion.
- 20:39But be clear with that part. If it ever goes back to its
- 20:45previous form, previous way of trying to be coercive, it loses
- 20:53everything and you will banish it by sending it hundreds of
- 20:59miles away, knowing it will take months before it can even get
- 21:04close to you. And if it returns in that old
- 21:09form, it will be banished again, and it's only welcome in its
- 21:14evolved form. And then I want you to ask all
- 21:19the other parts within you to vote if they're willing to allow
- 21:27this part to be integrated rather than an outsider.
- 21:34Let me know by nodding your head.
- 21:41And that is on the condition that it it does its
- 21:44responsibilities well. If it relapses back into its old
- 21:49ways, sending it hundreds of miles away is evidence of
- 21:57banishment that it is no longer welcome and would have to earn
- 22:03its way back into the tribe, into the pack again.
- 22:12Since this new relationship with yourself, these parts, is
- 22:16established, I want you to think about yourself in the days that
- 22:21follow. I want you to see how that old
- 22:29habit loses all of its appeal. Smoking just means that that
- 22:40parasitic part is winning. And I want you to get a feeling
- 22:46that every time you refuse, you are voting on your own growth,
- 22:54your own evolution, your own progress.
- 22:59And I want you to see a new ritual, frictionless, quick and
- 23:07yet deeply empowering. See yourself doing that
- 23:12indulgent thing and yet it enhances your life.
- 23:21I want you to get a thing that sometimes everything is improved
- 23:32by something being added to it, and sometimes things are taken.
- 23:42The parasite takes, but something synergistic adds.
- 23:51And if you feel that this new ritual adds to your life rather
- 23:57than takes, then it's evidence that it's the right thing.
- 24:04But anything that adds to your health, your well-being,
- 24:09feelings of gratitude and pride, accomplishment and reflection
- 24:16could be that thing. But I want you to get a sense
- 24:21that you get to decide and your emotions will tell you if you do
- 24:30the thing and think about it after it's happened and you
- 24:34still feel good, it's the right thing.
- 24:38But if you do the thing and afterwards you feel regret,
- 24:42shame or just unpleasantness, then it isn't the right thing.
- 24:50Your own emotions and intuition will tell you everything you
- 24:56need to know once you're convinced that future version of
- 25:04you has this new identity without the echo of the past.
- 25:11Imagine yourself 2 years from now on a busy, stressful day,
- 25:19and see how you end the day in a way that is empowering and
- 25:24indulgent, giving you a glimpse of wonderful changes yet to
- 25:32come. But it's time to leave this
- 25:35place. Find yourself back there in that
- 25:39chair in nature. Leave the chair walking through
- 25:44woodland, and then allow yourself to float all the way
- 25:48back to the present, taking these new changes with you.
- 25:55So take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 25:59nose. Just wiggle your fingers, wiggle
- 26:03your toes, connect and calibrate into the here and the now as I
- 26:08now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 26:14Starting to count 123 waking up 456 more alert 7-8.
- 26:21Open your eyes, open your eyes, 910.
- 26:24Wide awake, wide awake, wide awake.
