- 1:30Speaker 2: and we're gonna unpack something that you slid into our
- 1:33Speaker 2: DMS about this week. We're talking about sharing points with friends,
- 1:37Speaker 2: which Beck offline seemed very excited to talk about. Is
- 1:41Speaker 2: that right? Like why are you so excited about that?
- 1:43Speaker 3: This seems so like like wow, what do you do?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Like how does that work?
- 1:48Speaker 3: How does this all work?
- 1:49Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:50Speaker 3: I'm excited, like I won't go into it too much.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Okay, okay, we'll get there. But first things first are
- 1:54Speaker 2: happy Birthday and tells your day and week.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Then thank you so much.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I feel so I love, love, love my birthday. I
- 2:02Speaker 3: try and extend it for as long as possible. House
- 2:05Speaker 3: party on Saturday was beautiful. All my friends were around,
- 2:07Speaker 3: and I just felt so loved. All my buckets were full.
- 2:10Speaker 3: Today's the day, the day day. But it won't end
- 2:14Speaker 3: there because I'm going to.
- 2:15Speaker 2: This episode comes out on Friday, so like people are
- 2:19Speaker 2: going to be wishing you a happy birthday literally at
- 2:21Speaker 2: the end of the week.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Exactly, how good, exactly I've got plans all the end
- 2:26Speaker 3: of August. I love it. I'm just having the best time.
- 2:29Speaker 2: It's a genius. I love this someone who also loves
- 2:32Speaker 2: a birthday week. Mister gretchy week, bean Goo ahead.
- 2:36Speaker 4: I haven't done anything very exciting. I've just been sitting
- 2:40Speaker 4: at home working on my craft.
- 2:43Speaker 2: I've been working on my craft.
- 2:45Speaker 4: It's been like very except today it's been quite rainy
- 2:47Speaker 4: and cold, so I feel like it's perfect weather to
- 2:48Speaker 4: sit inside and do something crazy.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It's so cute craft.
- 2:52Speaker 4: Have you been ready through?
- 2:54Speaker 2: All right? I'm ready.
- 2:55Speaker 4: It's like done the thing where I've started. I got
- 2:56Speaker 4: really excited about many things, and now I have many
- 2:59Speaker 4: half do things. So I bought a bunch of vintage stamps,
- 3:02Speaker 4: just like randomly to store.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I saw that and I was confused.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm turning them into a phone case, which is
- 3:07Speaker 4: very fun. Oh okay, I'm collecting vintage stamps from countries
- 3:10Speaker 4: that i've been So I bought like this big bulk
- 3:12Speaker 4: a lot of stamps because they were really pretty and
- 3:14Speaker 4: they were so cheap.
- 3:14Speaker 2: How many stamps did you get?
- 3:15Speaker 4: I think I got like two hundred or something like
- 3:17Speaker 4: four dollars, and I.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Just that's a good deal. You can't use them though,
- 3:20Speaker 2: you know that, right.
- 3:22Speaker 4: But I just thought they were very pretty and there
- 3:23Speaker 4: was something about them that appealed, So I'm toying with
- 3:25Speaker 4: the idea of either doing like all blue because I
- 3:28Speaker 4: sorted them all by color. That's very that's very yes,
- 3:33Speaker 4: So like I could do like all blue stamps, or
- 3:35Speaker 4: like I was digging through seeing like what countries because
- 3:37Speaker 4: they're from all over the world, and I found a
- 3:39Speaker 4: lot from countries I've been to, So I was like,
- 3:41Speaker 4: maybe it could be like suitcase stickers, make a phone
- 3:44Speaker 4: case with like stamps from vintage stamps from countries, so
- 3:46Speaker 4: that doing that's right.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And then could make a kindle case because you have
- 3:50Speaker 2: so many it's so cute.
- 3:51Speaker 4: Well, funny you mentioned the kindle I bought a bunch
- 3:53Speaker 4: of new kindlestickers, so you did freshing the kindle case.
- 3:57Speaker 4: And then when I was doing sewing of I'm working
- 4:01Speaker 4: on my new favorite hobby. I'm sewing a quilted tote. Okay,
- 4:05Speaker 4: I love this. I've quilted it so far. It's not
- 4:07Speaker 4: shaped like a cute it is really cute, and I
- 4:10Speaker 4: love feasted the fabric, so if I cook it, it's
- 4:12Speaker 4: not too bad. It's because fabrics expensive, so it was
- 4:15Speaker 4: like four dollars or something.
- 4:16Speaker 2: Okay, but that's not the point, it's cute, it's she
- 4:19Speaker 2: it's fun.
- 4:19Speaker 4: So we'll see how that goes. And then lastly I
- 4:22Speaker 4: realized I was doing the little screen, medium screen, big
- 4:25Speaker 4: screen at night, like I was watching TV and I
- 4:27Speaker 4: have my laptop open and I was on my phone,
- 4:29Speaker 4: and I was.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Like, she's actually work screen.
- 4:32Speaker 4: That is awes. So I bought a little crocheky and
- 4:35Speaker 4: I'm trying to crochet a bag at like walle So
- 4:37Speaker 4: I watch TV and crochet so my hands are busy.
- 4:40Speaker 3: That's really really cute.
- 4:41Speaker 2: That's actually so wholesome. That is so yes many a
- 4:45Speaker 2: craft yes question. When you were a kid and someone
- 4:51Speaker 2: gave you, like a box of Smarties, did you sort
- 4:54Speaker 2: them my color and then eat colors in isolation?
- 4:56Speaker 4: Absolutely taste better than others. They taste all the same,
- 5:01Speaker 4: but the brown Eminem's taste the best. At double chocolate,
- 5:04Speaker 4: that's what you are. I always not be argued with.
- 5:09Speaker 3: The red tasted better and also doubles. What's that red steel?
- 5:13Speaker 2: It also doubles? Is that you're broke to that's an
- 5:20Speaker 2: incredible Yeah, just your smartest it's like made out of beetles.
- 5:25Speaker 4: I don't want to think about it.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Yeah, no one out of ten. I am, well, I
- 5:30Speaker 2: think I told you last week that Steve decided to
- 5:33Speaker 2: injure himself at soccer, so that wasn't really that fun.
- 5:37Speaker 2: I think I mentioned it, But two broken ribs, are
- 5:40Speaker 2: punctured lung, a broken scapular, and a whole heap of
- 5:43Speaker 2: other stuff like separated a sea joint, like significant stuff.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I've been his care this week, which has been really fun,
- 5:49Speaker 2: because it turns out having a four month old and
- 5:53Speaker 2: a husband who can't pick up your four month old
- 5:56Speaker 2: is actually not that fun in theory. Maybe you thought
- 6:00Speaker 2: it would be.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Now you're double caretaking, you've got two children.
- 6:04Speaker 2: Fun, but for everyone, so that's been really I won't
- 6:08Speaker 2: say fun, it's just kept me really busy, and like
- 6:11Speaker 2: in between that and work and like obviously we've spoken
- 6:13Speaker 2: about this, Steve was the primary parent and I was
- 6:16Speaker 2: back at work, so that's definitely put a spanner in
- 6:18Speaker 2: the works. Just I don't have time for crafts right now,
- 6:21Speaker 2: although I did fall victim to the algorithm again and
- 6:27Speaker 2: I'm surprised I didn't send this to you, But there
- 6:29Speaker 2: is this company in the US that does crochet kids
- 6:32Speaker 2: of mini characters, and they send you everything you need
- 6:35Speaker 2: to learn to crochet, and I have ordered a baby
- 6:38Speaker 2: dinosaur so that I can learn to crochet. And I
- 6:42Speaker 2: need to send it to you because I just I
- 6:44Speaker 2: saw it and I was like, this is so Jess,
- 6:46Speaker 2: and then I think I got wrapped up in purchasing
- 6:48Speaker 2: it that I forgot to send it to you.
- 6:49Speaker 4: I want to crochet, you know, the sad Mouse. That's
- 6:52Speaker 4: my assa like picture. No, the sad Hamster.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Yeah, the sad Hamster with their little.
- 6:56Speaker 4: The meme where it would be like I'm just a
- 6:58Speaker 4: girl mirror and I was like the violin music of
- 7:02Speaker 4: this hamster, like and people were making them look like themselves.
- 7:05Speaker 4: So my slack picture fame.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Because you choose to work from home, which you know
- 7:10Speaker 2: everyone in our team has the option. We actually do
- 7:13Speaker 2: have an office and all the Zella girls they have
- 7:16Speaker 2: those as key rings. You know, yeah, you'd be that's
- 7:18Speaker 2: so jealous. I walked in and it was like is
- 7:20Speaker 2: Jesse yah And they were like no, I would just
- 7:23Speaker 2: be here and I was like, just looks like, Jess,
- 7:24Speaker 2: it's been here.
- 7:26Speaker 4: I saw people crocheting the Sad Hamster, So that will
- 7:28Speaker 4: be a project at some point.
- 7:29Speaker 2: You No, I do not put that on me. If
- 7:34Speaker 2: you want to help learning how to use your sewing machine,
- 7:36Speaker 2: I'm your girl crocheting. I still am pretty certain I'm
- 7:40Speaker 2: going to throw that out the window real quick. But
- 7:42Speaker 2: let's get into the crux of the show, and it's
- 7:45Speaker 2: just Gricci. This week, you've been saying that there have
- 7:47Speaker 2: been some pretty good money wins. Yes, what if people
- 7:50Speaker 2: brought to the table.
- 7:51Speaker 4: Firstly, I've got a money win from Meg, who said
- 7:53Speaker 4: she made a few purchases on deep hop. She had
- 7:55Speaker 4: some great quality items at a bargain price. We love
- 7:57Speaker 4: a secondhand cluthing purchase.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I bought a dress online did Scanlon Theodore d Pop.
- 8:04Speaker 2: But I messaged her a couple of weeks ago and
- 8:06Speaker 2: said would you take X for it because it was
- 8:08Speaker 2: a bit expensive, and she said no, and then it
- 8:12Speaker 2: didn't sell. It didn't sell, so I was like I'm
- 8:14Speaker 2: still open and she said yeah, let's do it and
- 8:16Speaker 2: I was like yes, sorry wins.
- 8:18Speaker 4: See that's the best feeling when you just wait and
- 8:20Speaker 4: wait and the universe says okay, haven't Yeah.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Mo was like originally I was like, I'm not paying
- 8:25Speaker 2: that for that. Like I do like the dress, but
- 8:28Speaker 2: like I don't need the dress and then she made
- 8:31Speaker 2: me need the dress, so that was nice.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Love that for you. Well done to both of you. Next,
- 8:35Speaker 4: I've got a money win from kallany. I hope that
- 8:38Speaker 4: I'm saying that correctly. She said that she switched her
- 8:40Speaker 4: Netflix plan from Premium, which is twenty six bucks a month,
- 8:43Speaker 4: to standard with ads, which is only eight, because she
- 8:46Speaker 4: figured she's not really watching Netflix that much except for
- 8:49Speaker 4: on the weekends. The standard plan with ads is apparently
- 8:51Speaker 4: not too bad. It's barely one or two adds per episode,
- 8:55Speaker 4: and she's now saving herself almost twenty bucks.
- 8:57Speaker 2: That's something you should do because you're not even focusing
- 8:59Speaker 2: on Netflix. Literally, I'm just sitting I feel like an
- 9:03Speaker 2: ad you need ads.
- 9:05Speaker 4: And I was like, I actually should do that.
- 9:07Speaker 2: That's really so be for real? Did you just say
- 9:10Speaker 2: that a Netflix subscription is now twenty six dollars? In
- 9:14Speaker 2: my head? Netflix eight? Okay, so about the same. Yeah,
- 9:18Speaker 2: what do you mean twenty six dollars with some ads.
- 9:22Speaker 4: We don't scam off our friends.
- 9:25Speaker 2: They don't let you anymore, but you still have my
- 9:27Speaker 2: Disney logan.
- 9:28Speaker 4: I was gonna say, I definitely do not do any
- 9:30Speaker 4: illegal password sharing.
- 9:32Speaker 2: No, we would never moving on.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, quick, quick, quick. Next, I've got a money
- 9:38Speaker 4: in from Rainer, who said she loves click and collect
- 9:41Speaker 4: from Wally's. One time she ordered one tomato and one
- 9:44Speaker 4: bunch of broccolick because that's all she needed. She unpacked it,
- 9:46Speaker 4: she had five tomatoes and two bunches of broccoli.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Then someone was like, you deserve this. Literally.
- 9:53Speaker 4: She ordered bacon and ham for lunches last week and
- 9:56Speaker 4: she says she doesn't know what happened, but they doubled it.
- 9:58Speaker 4: She's only paid for one. They'd give it her as
- 10:00Speaker 4: much as what she ordered. She said, money wins, click
- 10:03Speaker 4: collect is the way to go, oh my.
- 10:04Speaker 2: God, you're doing this. Yes? Can I also add in
- 10:07Speaker 2: a little bit of my own money win because it
- 10:09Speaker 2: like is writing on the coattails of hers. Now, you
- 10:12Speaker 2: would think that ordering groceries on uber eats, that's ridiculous, right, like,
- 10:17Speaker 2: why would you do that? But I got a notification
- 10:19Speaker 2: the other day and it said get twenty dollars off
- 10:22Speaker 2: groceries on Uber Eats, and I was like, okay, I'll
- 10:25Speaker 2: have a look, I'll click like I love saving money,
- 10:28Speaker 2: and it was twenty dollars off when you spend more
- 10:30Speaker 2: than forty five dollars, and so it cost me way
- 10:34Speaker 2: less to buy all of Harvey's formula. I bought two
- 10:37Speaker 2: tins of formula, got twenty dollars off, and it got
- 10:40Speaker 2: delivered and it was basically like free delivery as well.
- 10:43Speaker 4: Oh that's so good.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Is that not a money win?
- 10:45Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:46Speaker 2: Formula is so expensive too, and.
- 10:48Speaker 4: I feel like it probably doesn't go on sale that often, right.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Not that I've noticed. Yeah, I mean I've only been
- 10:52Speaker 2: here for a short period of time, and in that time,
- 10:55Speaker 2: I've realized it's obnoxious.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Right, I love that. Well done. Next, I've got money
- 11:00Speaker 4: in from Jewels, who said she received her monthly power
- 11:03Speaker 4: bill for one hundred and ninety dollars, which seemed higher
- 11:05Speaker 4: than her bills normally are. She scrolled through the document
- 11:08Speaker 4: and she noticed that it was an estimated figure, so
- 11:10Speaker 4: she checked her own meter, and turns out, once she
- 11:13Speaker 4: submitted the correct reading to her company, it was actually
- 11:16Speaker 4: only one hundred and fifty dollars.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Okay, that is something we all should be doing. Yeah,
- 11:20Speaker 2: you can check the meta, you can take a photo
- 11:22Speaker 2: of it, you can send it in and they will
- 11:25Speaker 2: honor it.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So what you got to check your own meter? They
- 11:27Speaker 4: don't send someone out. They do it usually once a quarter,
- 11:30Speaker 4: and so that's ther fsh market. Yeah, I see, Okay,
- 11:34Speaker 4: why they digitize that.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Now, I don't know why they don't.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Like because I don't know how you digitize the meters. Honestly,
- 11:39Speaker 2: they have those little ticking numbers, and I've always been like,
- 11:42Speaker 2: what if I maxed out the ticking number and then
- 11:44Speaker 2: I start again? Used one like the odometer on your car,
- 11:49Speaker 2: like once you've reached a million kilometers, Yes, your car's
- 11:52Speaker 2: brand new.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Life hack. Last, we've got money in this week from
- 11:58Speaker 4: Aaron who said her textbook from UNI was going to
- 12:00Speaker 4: cost her almost two hundred bucks.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Past obnoxious. I don't miss those days.
- 12:06Speaker 4: That is daylight robbery. I'm so sorry. She found a
- 12:09Speaker 4: copy that on Facebook Marketplace was brand new and she
- 12:11Speaker 4: got it for thirty bucks.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Oh do you know what? I wish Facebook, market Place
- 12:15Speaker 2: and deepop existed. When I had to buy my university textbooks,
- 12:19Speaker 2: getting them secondhand was incredibly hard. You'd have to like
- 12:22Speaker 2: go to the library or like the secondhand shop at
- 12:25Speaker 2: the UNI, and like everybody else had already done that,
- 12:28Speaker 2: so there was nothing there.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Oh well.
- 12:30Speaker 4: Some are also commented right under Aaron and said a
- 12:33Speaker 4: lot of unis now have a textbook exchange or their like.
- 12:36Speaker 4: Student portals will often have like boards or Facebook groups
- 12:39Speaker 4: where people are looking, you know, to on sell their
- 12:41Speaker 4: last year.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Isn't it good to live in twenty twenty five Fife?
- 12:45Speaker 1: Being here?
- 12:46Speaker 2: It's so good?
- 12:47Speaker 3: On the flip side, maybe we're only here because the
- 12:49Speaker 3: cost of living is so damn high. Literally, Okay, well,
- 12:53Speaker 3: well I'm nice way to bring And since you've brought
- 12:58Speaker 3: this up, just I'm assuming you're done.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Would you like to take sender stage? What if you
- 13:02Speaker 2: got to bring to the table?
- 13:03Speaker 3: It's so negative to I don't know why, it's literally
- 13:07Speaker 3: and I'm just so bitter. I think maybe this is
- 13:09Speaker 3: what happens when you hit.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Like cozy libs.
- 13:11Speaker 3: I'm done, and I was bitter about something else before.
- 13:14Speaker 3: I can't remember what it was, but anyway I do
- 13:16Speaker 3: have that's the.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Best way to be bitter about things that you can't
- 13:19Speaker 2: even remember exactly exactly.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I really am putting into a boomer.
- 13:24Speaker 2: So apart from using Smarties as free lipstick, what if
- 13:29Speaker 2: you got beck is not a bad idea, though, I've
- 13:31Speaker 2: got to say, do try do you reckon it's like
- 13:33Speaker 2: a lipstain.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Dolly Parton used to do it with berries. Apparently. I
- 13:37Speaker 4: just watched the DCC up Country and they had Dolly
- 13:39Speaker 4: Parton was the guest that Super Bowl. She answered the
- 13:41Speaker 4: DCC last year Dolly Putton. My god, her too as
- 13:48Speaker 4: much as Dolly Parton.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Her lack of belly button is unnerving. Yeah, like, like,
- 13:54Speaker 2: do the maths don't work out?
- 13:55Speaker 1: Why?
- 13:56Speaker 3: Incredible? I just have a flashback of my mum in
- 13:58Speaker 3: the bathroom trying to die hair with beetroot juice, like
- 14:01Speaker 3: canned beetroot juice, and it does work. It's just music,
- 14:06Speaker 3: organic be.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I have questions. I have so many questions.
- 14:11Speaker 3: It was very funny. My mind is very funny, and
- 14:13Speaker 3: you can't say.
- 14:14Speaker 2: It okay, But like my questions arise from the fact
- 14:17Speaker 2: that you have naturally black hair. Parlor is your mum's, Yeah.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I know, shockingly she's blonde. She actually yeah, with blonde hair.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I know.
- 14:29Speaker 2: See my mom's really blonde too, And everyone meets her
- 14:32Speaker 2: and they're like, that is not what we expected.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Shocking happens.
- 14:35Speaker 2: Don't judge me exactly.
- 14:38Speaker 3: Don't judge a book by its mother.
- 14:39Speaker 2: They do say that, all right, what is your first
- 14:43Speaker 2: broake tip.
- 14:44Speaker 3: Okay, so this person one comes from Andrea. This is
- 14:46Speaker 3: actually really really coolitess as the thing. So Andrew says,
- 14:49Speaker 3: I have kids, so do multiple loads of washing a week.
- 14:52Speaker 3: I've started using the delay start setting on my washing
- 14:55Speaker 3: machine so it will run wash cycle overnight during off
- 14:58Speaker 3: peak electricity.
- 15:00Speaker 2: Then, very what the heck is an off peak electricity?
- 15:03Speaker 4: Oh my gosh, bell Oh, I can tell you all
- 15:05Speaker 4: about it because my gas electricity bill was nearly eight
- 15:08Speaker 4: hundred dollars the last two months.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Eight hundred dollars. That's close, honestly, Like she's asking for this.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Bea we've been dropped've dropped our temperature?
- 15:15Speaker 2: Oh okay, that Jess's house, Like if you walked into it,
- 15:18Speaker 2: you'd be like, wow, this is a sauna. Like I'm
- 15:21Speaker 2: pretty sure last time we were talking about this, you're like, yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 2: we just have it set at twenty seven year round
- 15:26Speaker 2: and I was like twenty four okay, okay, Richie, rich
- 15:30Speaker 2: so what have you had to drop it to?
- 15:32Speaker 4: We keep it at like nineteen twenty now, and we
- 15:34Speaker 4: really want i know, freezing and taf Comically, Jessica, yeah,
- 15:39Speaker 4: we're actually in a talk to our landlord. Because we reckon.
- 15:41Speaker 4: There's something wrong because our usage has gone up like
- 15:43Speaker 4: significantly since last year, but we're we're using it anymore.
- 15:46Speaker 4: I'm worried that anyway. Not the point.
- 15:47Speaker 2: No, we want to hear this because that's a fight.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I'm willing to crazy listening on.
- 15:52Speaker 4: They charge you more for electricity during certain hours of
- 15:54Speaker 4: the day. It's like on your bill. If you look
- 15:56Speaker 4: at it, if you say, we're dissecting it to figure
- 15:58Speaker 4: out why on earth your bill was eight hundred dollars,
- 16:00Speaker 4: it will show you they charge you a higher rate
- 16:02Speaker 4: during peak usage times, which is usually like middle.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Of the day when everybody else is using it.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Yeah, like through that I think. I think ours is
- 16:08Speaker 4: like maybe seven o'clock, eight o'clock something I remember. So
- 16:11Speaker 4: it's actually a lot cheaper to run. If you're doing laundry,
- 16:14Speaker 4: if you have to run the dryer or something like that,
- 16:16Speaker 4: it's often cheaper to do it in the evening or
- 16:18Speaker 4: in the very early morning.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Okay, And does it change daily?
- 16:22Speaker 4: No, peak time should be the same every day.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Oh my goodness, that's sick.
- 16:27Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 16:28Speaker 4: You could delay stuff.
- 16:29Speaker 2: I don't know. Now they do because you're putting it
- 16:31Speaker 2: on the podcast.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Well, I hope everyone does. I'm gonna tell my housemates
- 16:33Speaker 3: about it that it was just so like my mind
- 16:35Speaker 3: was blown. Anyway, that's really clever and obviously, as you
- 16:37Speaker 3: would have shared last week when I wasn't here, that
- 16:39Speaker 3: if you use cold water it significantly reduces the we
- 16:43Speaker 3: did share that incredible So thank you so much, Andrew,
- 16:46Speaker 3: and thank you so much Fee.
- 16:47Speaker 2: For reading that one out lost. Jess said that she
- 16:49Speaker 2: always watches her stuff in warm water, and I was delicate,
- 16:52Speaker 2: but then I was like, oh, are you also the
- 16:55Speaker 2: girl that shrunk too really expensive jumpers in the recent past.
- 16:59Speaker 4: No, I would not to confirm on tonight.
- 17:03Speaker 2: All right, Beck, what is your second from the community?
- 17:06Speaker 3: Broke to Okay, So this second one, I don't know
- 17:10Speaker 3: how you guys are going to feel about this, but personally,
- 17:14Speaker 3: I love this for so many different reasons. This one
- 17:18Speaker 3: comes from Michelle. She says that she's basically it's quite
- 17:22Speaker 3: a long one.
- 17:23Speaker 2: You can see I'm not going to read it, and
- 17:25Speaker 2: you're going to tell I'm going.
- 17:26Speaker 3: To summarize it. And I'm so sorry Michelle if in
- 17:29Speaker 3: advance I kind of mutu it. Yeah, obviously, Jess, you're
- 17:33Speaker 3: talking about pottery before off air, and we'll.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Kind of just pinner crafting era.
- 17:38Speaker 4: Yeah, painted pottery too.
- 17:40Speaker 2: I saw on Instagram. I was like, oh, what is that?
- 17:42Speaker 2: And then I was like, that is a potter's wheel
- 17:45Speaker 2: washing Jessica.
- 17:48Speaker 3: So basically, personally, I love playing in dirt, and adults
- 17:52Speaker 3: should be playing in dirt. I feel like not should nothing,
- 17:54Speaker 3: No one should be.
- 17:55Speaker 2: I'm going to give you my kid and you can
- 17:58Speaker 2: do the.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Exposure stuff, which absolutely I love it. I love it. It
- 18:01Speaker 3: just makes you feel so silly and fun and close
- 18:02Speaker 3: to nature. Anyway, it's so much fun. What Michelle did
- 18:05Speaker 3: was she made clay or she did was have a
- 18:07Speaker 3: bucket of water and a stick and got some soil
- 18:10Speaker 3: from her yard that was rich in clay. I should
- 18:12Speaker 3: give it. She literally made clay to do like pottery,
- 18:17Speaker 3: which I think is so cool.
- 18:19Speaker 2: And I love that she's gone. I guess foraging for
- 18:23Speaker 2: natural clay. Is that what you're saying.
- 18:25Speaker 3: I think she has like soil in her yard that's
- 18:27Speaker 3: rich in clay. But you can also like, I don't
- 18:29Speaker 3: know if people listening to this or in Victoria where
- 18:32Speaker 3: you are in the world, but in Victoria, would you
- 18:34Speaker 3: have like red hill on the peninsula full of like
- 18:36Speaker 3: red beautiful clay, Like you can make clay from just
- 18:40Speaker 3: clay playing in the dirt.
- 18:41Speaker 2: You couldn't make clay from clay, saying.
- 18:44Speaker 3: And I never thought about that before. You can make
- 18:47Speaker 3: cute and then you can like make beautiful bowls for
- 18:50Speaker 3: gifts or for yourself whatever.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Jess, did you forage for your own clay when you
- 18:55Speaker 2: were playing Posha? Recently?
- 18:57Speaker 4: I foraged within the crater room that was provided at
- 19:01Speaker 4: the place that I paid to euced I really try.
- 19:08Speaker 2: What do you bring to the table today?
- 19:10Speaker 3: This one actually happened upon this week, you.
- 19:12Speaker 2: Happened upon or your girlfriend happened upon?
- 19:14Speaker 3: No, genuinely mean yes. So I've been having to use
- 19:19Speaker 3: ubers my cars in a really bad way. And there's
- 19:22Speaker 3: a section in Uber that is called promotions, and it's
- 19:26Speaker 3: it's like basically hidden, but you can find it if
- 19:30Speaker 3: you just go to your account and then it will
- 19:33Speaker 3: say you have multiple promos, and then you go into
- 19:35Speaker 3: promotions and you'll see that you have like say, for example,
- 19:38Speaker 3: thirty percent off three trips up to thirty dollars three
- 19:41Speaker 3: trips left, twenty percent off three trips up to thirty
- 19:45Speaker 3: dollars three trips left, and these are like they'll give
- 19:47Speaker 3: you the date that you're allowed to use them between
- 19:49Speaker 3: and all this kind of stuff. But like this thing,
- 19:51Speaker 3: they don't just like they don't come out and tell
- 19:52Speaker 3: you about this. You gotta literally find it.
- 19:55Speaker 2: To go find it, Yeah, to find it. I think
- 19:56Speaker 2: they might.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Automatically apply it. If your trip does, you know, tick
- 20:01Speaker 3: all the boxes for that particular thing, then will automatically
- 20:03Speaker 3: apply it. Unless you know exactly what your promos are,
- 20:06Speaker 3: you'll never get the opportunity to use them.
- 20:09Speaker 2: I love that.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Everyone, right now, go into you uber account and check
- 20:12Speaker 3: out what your promos are and use them, because we're
- 20:15Speaker 3: not getting our money's worth here, you know. So that's
- 20:17Speaker 3: my broke tip for this week.
- 20:18Speaker 4: That's a good one.
- 20:19Speaker 2: That is a good one. I love it. All Right, guys,
- 20:22Speaker 2: let's go to a really quick break because on the
- 20:24Speaker 2: flip side, we're going to be talking about budgeting around
- 20:26Speaker 2: a complicated lifestyle. And Beck is really excited to be
- 20:29Speaker 2: talking about this week's DM which this week we're talking
- 20:32Speaker 2: about sharing points with friends. So guys, don't go anywhere.
- 20:39Speaker 4: Welcome back, everybody. Let's take a listen to this week's
- 20:41Speaker 4: money dilemma.
- 20:45Speaker 6: Hi, there, have you got a money dilemma you just
- 20:47Speaker 6: can't solve? The Sheese on the Money Team is here
- 20:50Speaker 6: to help. Every week, we tackle your dilemmas, both big

- 20:59Speaker 6: and leave us a short voice recording and you might
- 21:01Speaker 6: just find yourself on the show. Now, let's take a
- 21:04Speaker 6: listen to this week's money dilemma.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Hi, She's on the Money Team. I'm twenty five years
- 21:11Speaker 5: old and currently a yoga teacher. I have a really
- 21:14Speaker 5: complicated lifestyle at the moment, which I'm very grateful for,
- 21:17Speaker 5: but it does make it hard when it comes to
- 21:19Speaker 5: budgeting and saving money. I go Overseas regularly on a
- 21:23Speaker 5: work exchange to teach yoga, which I don't earn an income,
- 21:27Speaker 5: and when I come back home to Australia, I either
- 21:29Speaker 5: go work up in the Minds at a cafe or
- 21:32Speaker 5: work as a yoga teacher. My income is always so
- 21:35Speaker 5: different and I find it really hard to budget and
- 21:37Speaker 5: save money because of this. When I do go overseas,
- 21:41Speaker 5: I feel as though I'm spending way too much money
- 21:43Speaker 5: because I'm not sticking to a budget, even though I'm
- 21:45Speaker 5: doing things I like, like going out for food and
- 21:48Speaker 5: sometimes partying and doing things I enjoy. I just come
- 21:52Speaker 5: home every time from an overseas adventure and think to myself, Wow,
- 21:55Speaker 5: I spend way too much money. And then I do
- 21:58Speaker 5: come home and I work for it back up and
- 22:00Speaker 5: then go overseas again. But it's such a non consistent income.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Sometimes it's a really good income from the mind. Sometimes
- 22:08Speaker 5: it's a really low income from working at a cafe
- 22:11Speaker 5: or yoga teaching. My question is, how can I budget
- 22:14Speaker 5: to make this a little more savvy. How can I
- 22:16Speaker 5: work on saving some more money and making this more
- 22:20Speaker 5: consistent so I can put some money towards my investments
- 22:23Speaker 5: as well. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
- 22:27Speaker 2: This feels very beck cooded.
- 22:29Speaker 3: That has been very back odd, But I do remember Victoria. Actually,
- 22:33Speaker 3: like last year, someone messaged us with a It was
- 22:37Speaker 3: kind of similar. They were a freelancer and they were
- 22:39Speaker 3: kind of like SOMEONNS I make X amounts, someons I make.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Some days I maybe good, some days maybe.
- 22:44Speaker 3: Shit exactly well. And I'm maybe be saying and this
- 22:49Speaker 3: could be different now, but you said average it out
- 22:52Speaker 3: over twelve months.
- 22:54Speaker 2: And I'm going to see myself out. I am not
- 22:56Speaker 2: needed on this podcasting, Is that right? Yeah? I keep going.
- 23:00Speaker 3: I ridged it out over twelve months with your expenses,
- 23:02Speaker 3: average your expenses over twelve months, and then average your
- 23:06Speaker 3: income over twelve months. Yeah no, yeah, yeah yeah. And
- 23:10Speaker 3: then if you make ten thousand one month, for example,
- 23:14Speaker 3: but you your average is two thousand a month, you're
- 23:17Speaker 3: only spending two thousand a month. Yeah, something like that.
- 23:20Speaker 2: No, no, no, that is absolutely on the money, which is
- 23:24Speaker 2: money for most reasons here.
- 23:26Speaker 3: That's crazy effects on the money, which in the intro
- 23:31Speaker 3: to bexs on the money.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's fine. That's your birthday, so you get whatever
- 23:35Speaker 2: you want. Yes, that is absolutely true. So what I
- 23:38Speaker 2: would say is understand your budget. And I think that
- 23:41Speaker 2: you you sounded like you're having the best life. I
- 23:44Speaker 2: don't know, but did you notice Jess being like, ooh,
- 23:47Speaker 2: I'm like, are you pondering a career change? You want
- 23:50Speaker 2: to go to be a yoga teacher? Like I wouldn't
- 23:52Speaker 2: be surprised at this point she's become a pilates girlie.
- 23:56Speaker 2: It's a slippery slope, fue. I feel like this is
- 23:59Speaker 2: a really good example of you're living your best life.
- 24:02Speaker 2: You're clearly enjoying it, but money is getting in the way.
- 24:05Speaker 2: And so what we want to do is understand what
- 24:08Speaker 2: Beck was saying. We want to understand our expenses. So
- 24:10Speaker 2: how much are you on average spending every single month?
- 24:13Speaker 2: But we want to budget on an annual But we
- 24:16Speaker 2: want to budget on an annual basis, right, because there
- 24:18Speaker 2: are going to be like once a year costs like
- 24:20Speaker 2: insurances or Red Joe that we need to pay for.
- 24:22Speaker 2: So over the year, have a look at how much
- 24:25Speaker 2: money you actually need to bare minimum survive. Right, So
- 24:28Speaker 2: let's pretend it's two thousand dollars a month. Let's start there.
- 24:32Speaker 2: Then we're going to look at how much we earn.
- 24:35Speaker 2: So over the last year, you would have done some
- 24:37Speaker 2: work in the minds, you would have done some yoga teaching,
- 24:39Speaker 2: you would have worked in the cafe a little bit.
- 24:41Speaker 2: You're going to take that income, add it all together,
- 24:44Speaker 2: and divide it by twelve. How much on average was
- 24:47Speaker 2: that per month? So you're gonna look at that and go,
- 24:50Speaker 2: let's pretend you know this is just for argument's sake,
- 24:53Speaker 2: your expenses are two thousand dollars a month, and then
- 24:55Speaker 2: you're earning four thousand dollars a month, right, So that
- 24:59Speaker 2: means on average you've got two thousand dollars in additional income.
- 25:04Speaker 2: That's twenty four thousand dollars a year. So what we
- 25:07Speaker 2: want to do is make sure that every month we
- 25:10Speaker 2: are allocating two thousand dollars and putting that to the side,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and then any additional when we're not traveling, when we're
- 25:16Speaker 2: not doing the big expenses, we're putting it to the side.
- 25:20Speaker 2: The month after, let's pretend it's one of those big
- 25:22Speaker 2: travel months. We aren't trying to overspend, Like if you
- 25:26Speaker 2: had a ten thousand dollar month, because like I don't know,
- 25:28Speaker 2: maybe you're out in the minds and you're earning the
- 25:30Speaker 2: big dollars and instead of it being a four thousand
- 25:33Speaker 2: dollar income month like usual, maybe you have an eight
- 25:36Speaker 2: thousand dollar month because you've had a big month, you've
- 25:38Speaker 2: done some overtime. That doesn't mean we blow out. That
- 25:41Speaker 2: means we take now six thousand dollars and put that
- 25:44Speaker 2: into the savings account so that next month, maybe you're
- 25:47Speaker 2: traveling and don't have an income, we can still pay
- 25:50Speaker 2: our two thousand dollars in base amount. Of expenses and
- 25:53Speaker 2: then we can use the surplus and what's left over
- 25:56Speaker 2: for the travel and they're eating out and all of that.
- 25:59Speaker 2: So what we want to do then is have at
- 26:01Speaker 2: home budget, so we've got our everyday budget the expenses
- 26:05Speaker 2: that are not going to change. For some people, that
- 26:08Speaker 2: could be like rent. Maybe you're paying rent or you're
- 26:10Speaker 2: overseas still. But then I want to know what your
- 26:13Speaker 2: budget for your holidays are. So if you're going overseas
- 26:15Speaker 2: to teach yoga, does that change depending on the country
- 26:18Speaker 2: you're in. Maybe if you're teaching in Thailand, it's much
- 26:20Speaker 2: cheaper than if you were going to France. So we
- 26:22Speaker 2: need to make sure that we understand, well, what is
- 26:24Speaker 2: a daily budget, how many days am I going for?
- 26:26Speaker 2: What does this look like, so that you can start
- 26:29Speaker 2: to allocate the funds towards that. So when you get home,
- 26:32Speaker 2: you're not shot in the four and you don't have
- 26:34Speaker 2: the money that you need for the expenses that are
- 26:37Speaker 2: ultimately always going to be there. Does that make sense?
- 26:40Speaker 2: Just do you have any tips.
- 26:41Speaker 4: And tricks, nothing to add other than you did a
- 26:44Speaker 4: full episode a few years ago call budgeting for variable income,
- 26:46Speaker 4: which goes into that, and you know a few other
- 26:48Speaker 4: like systems and processes people could consider in like a
- 26:51Speaker 4: whole episode. So if you want a bit more info,
- 26:53Speaker 4: I would go listen to that because a really good YEP.
- 26:55Speaker 2: I did it, so I agree turn out of ten.
- 26:58Speaker 2: Would you guys like to move on to this week
- 27:00Speaker 2: money dilemma?
- 27:01Speaker 4: Absolutely?
- 27:02Speaker 2: So this week we got a dam sounded exactly like this,
- 27:05Speaker 2: because guys, I am reading it verbatim. Hi, I need
- 27:08Speaker 2: a vibe check on this. Every weekend, my friend and
- 27:11Speaker 2: I go out for dinners, drinks, and the occasional shopping
- 27:14Speaker 2: spree must be nice. They always put everything on their
- 27:17Speaker 2: fancy new credit card to rack up points, and I
- 27:20Speaker 2: transfer them my share after Now we're planning for an
- 27:23Speaker 2: overseas trip and they just announced that they're using those
- 27:26Speaker 2: points to upgrade to business class. They didn't even offer
- 27:30Speaker 2: to share the perks, despite the points being partly from
- 27:32Speaker 2: our shared expenses. I'm feeling pretty miffed. It's like I
- 27:36Speaker 2: helped build these points and now they're flying in luxury
- 27:39Speaker 2: while I'm stuck back in economy. I get that they
- 27:42Speaker 2: technically paid, but it stings that they didn't ask if
- 27:45Speaker 2: I wanted to split the upgrade or enjoy some extra
- 27:48Speaker 2: comfort too. It feels like they've been using our outings
- 27:51Speaker 2: to boost their rewards at my expense. How do I
- 27:55Speaker 2: bring this up without causing drama but still make it
- 27:58Speaker 2: clear I'm feeling a bit used or am I just
- 28:00Speaker 2: overreacting and discuss this.
- 28:03Speaker 3: Is really tricky because like, I get it, I get it.
- 28:07Speaker 3: I guess if I had a card that I intended
- 28:09Speaker 3: on like collecting or accumulating points on, but all my
- 28:13Speaker 3: friends are like, no, no, let me get this one,
- 28:14Speaker 3: And like if I sense that there was a bit
- 28:17Speaker 3: of like sneakiness behind it, they're like, no, I want
- 28:20Speaker 3: to pay for this, but you still pay me your share,
- 28:21Speaker 3: but I just want to get the points. Then I'd
- 28:23Speaker 3: be like, oh, I'm kind of bit dirty about that.
- 28:26Speaker 3: But if you just didn't have a card that you
- 28:28Speaker 3: were trying to accumulate points on and then later on
- 28:31Speaker 3: realized that you could have been accumulating points.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Now you're salty that your friend was making the most
- 28:36Speaker 2: of it.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like that's like maybe if you inquired
- 28:39Speaker 3: early and everyone's like, don't worry about it, like this
- 28:41Speaker 3: is you know, you don't need to worry, Like you
- 28:42Speaker 3: just keep doing what you're doing then, I don't know
- 28:45Speaker 3: if there's any sneakiness involved, which doesn't really sound like
- 28:48Speaker 3: it is. Sounds like your friends are just like making
- 28:50Speaker 3: the most of what they were trying to do, I guess.
- 28:53Speaker 3: And they didn't know that a trip was coming up.
- 28:56Speaker 3: You just started planning this trip recently. It sounds like
- 28:59Speaker 3: I think there's no ill intent really, so I don't know.
- 29:03Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 29:04Speaker 4: I feel like they did know. It sounds like a
- 29:06Speaker 4: listener because they said like they knew they were putting
- 29:08Speaker 4: the credit card on everything on the credit card to
- 29:11Speaker 4: brack up points, so they knew that that was happening.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Ye.
- 29:13Speaker 4: I feel like if you wanted the points, you get
- 29:15Speaker 4: your own card. Like it's to me, it's a very
- 29:17Speaker 4: black and white situation, like our friends do it. Like
- 29:19Speaker 4: one of our like before I had a credit card,
- 29:21Speaker 4: one of our friends had a credit card. If we
- 29:22Speaker 4: went out, they'd say, can we pay it? We'd go, like,
- 29:24Speaker 4: what difference does it make to us.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Transferring them cash from your Like I'm paying what I would.
- 29:29Speaker 4: Pay regardless, you might as well get the points. Now
- 29:32Speaker 4: that I have my own credit card, I just go, oh,
- 29:33Speaker 4: like okay, because I want my points.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Yeah, one hundred percent.
- 29:36Speaker 4: To me, it is such a non issue. Also, the
- 29:39Speaker 4: amount of points that you get from like paying for dinner,
- 29:42Speaker 4: even if it's every week, versus the amount of points
- 29:44Speaker 4: it takes to upgrade to something like it's a huge.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Would be Yeah, like to upgrade to business which I
- 29:49Speaker 2: have done recently, So I did that flying to Europe.
- 29:53Speaker 2: It's hundreds of thousands of points. Like, you're not to
- 29:56Speaker 2: be whole, not to be dramatic, but when she said
- 30:00Speaker 2: I go out for dinners, drinks and the occasional shopping spree,
- 30:03Speaker 2: that's not going to get your business class upgrade, Like
- 30:06Speaker 2: that's not Like, I don't mean to be offensive. I
- 30:09Speaker 2: get that you're probably contributing to the points, but like,
- 30:11Speaker 2: it doesn't add up that way. Two, why are you
- 30:14Speaker 2: letting your friend always pay instead of splitting it if
- 30:18Speaker 2: you wanted points as well? Like why don't you have
- 30:20Speaker 2: your own? Three? Your friend might be upgrading to business class,
- 30:24Speaker 2: but are you aware of whether she's paying off her
- 30:27Speaker 2: credit card or not? You're transferring her cash. You are
- 30:29Speaker 2: in your own little finance bubble, And I'm assuming you're
- 30:33Speaker 2: okay because you don't have a credit card, you're not
- 30:35Speaker 2: racking up personal debt. So your friend even paying this
- 30:37Speaker 2: off or paying the minimum, like, she might have points
- 30:40Speaker 2: to upgrade, but she might be in personal debt and
- 30:42Speaker 2: you just don't know it.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 4: To me, I think it is kind of a silly thing.
- 30:46Speaker 4: I think it's a little bit unreasonable to expect her
- 30:48Speaker 4: to split the upgrade. I think there's a larger or
- 30:51Speaker 4: she can't split an upgrade. No, you can't. But I
- 30:53Speaker 4: think that's a large question maybe around you know, is
- 30:55Speaker 4: it okay if you're flying with someone and you agree
- 30:57Speaker 4: that you're flying together to upgrade without inting them to
- 31:00Speaker 4: upgrade or without you're ine, Like maybe the friend thought
- 31:02Speaker 4: you were going to sit in economy together.
- 31:04Speaker 2: Like kges, I have enough points, I can upgrade me.
- 31:07Speaker 2: But like yeah, and you'd be sitting on your own.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I wouldn't ever do that to anybody.
- 31:11Speaker 4: No, No, I wouldn't you.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Actually, we have.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Sat an economy together many a time, so, like, I
- 31:15Speaker 4: think that there's a conversation to be had around that.
- 31:18Speaker 4: But I think if you separate that out, the points
- 31:20Speaker 4: thing to me is like such a non issue. If
- 31:21Speaker 4: you want points, you're very entitled to earn your own points,
- 31:24Speaker 4: get your own cut, like you can't do you know
- 31:26Speaker 4: what I mean, Like you can't really expect her to
- 31:29Speaker 4: be Yeah, I just think it no to me, it
- 31:31Speaker 4: feels a little bit unreasonable.
- 31:32Speaker 3: I agree, And I guess like if you flip it,
- 31:34Speaker 3: if the person writing in was in fact the person
- 31:36Speaker 3: who was being really savvy and linked all of their
- 31:39Speaker 3: things and was trying to get points for whatever, first
- 31:42Speaker 3: of all, exactly you sav like that amount of points
- 31:45Speaker 3: wouldn't have gotten them very far anyway. I'm assuming it's
- 31:48Speaker 3: like years.
- 31:48Speaker 2: Worth, unless you're spending thousands of dollars and months, like
- 31:52Speaker 2: you're not going to get there, like Steve and I
- 31:55Speaker 2: have recently, oh maybe in the last twelve months. He
- 31:58Speaker 2: got a credit card and we have been putting all
- 32:01Speaker 2: of our expenses onto the credit card and just paying
- 32:03Speaker 2: it off every month because we knew that we wanted
- 32:06Speaker 2: to do a Europe trip and we got like I
- 32:08Speaker 2: think it was like one hundred thousand bonus points when
- 32:11Speaker 2: Steve signed up for this card, and then every single
- 32:14Speaker 2: expense has been going on there. We still had like
- 32:17Speaker 2: a small out of pocket to pay for our business
- 32:21Speaker 2: Class upgrade, which fine, no worries. It was a couple
- 32:24Speaker 2: of one hundred dollars, but to us it was worth it.
- 32:27Speaker 2: But that's with us putting every single like out of
- 32:30Speaker 2: pocket expense on our credit card and paying it off
- 32:33Speaker 2: each month. So like when you say, oh, every weekend,
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, like we were putting everything we could
- 32:40Speaker 2: on that card to rack up points.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Yeah and yeah exactly. So with that in mind, if
- 32:45Speaker 3: it was flipped and yeah, the person running in was
- 32:48Speaker 3: in fact the one being savvy, I'm sure they would
- 32:51Speaker 3: be like quite protective of those points that they accumulated
- 32:55Speaker 3: over the years. And we're really intentional about and like, oh,
- 32:59Speaker 3: I'm putting everything on the cards that I can eventually
- 33:01Speaker 3: have a good upgrade. They're thinking about their future self
- 33:04Speaker 3: And I think that if it was flipped around, the
- 33:07Speaker 3: person writing and would not be like wanting their friend
- 33:11Speaker 3: to expect to have some of those points transferred to
- 33:14Speaker 3: them because you put in the work, babe, you deserve that.
- 33:18Speaker 3: But I get it with that now, the person writing
- 33:21Speaker 3: into us our listener, do get a card if you
- 33:25Speaker 3: feel like you're missing out, and.
- 33:27Speaker 2: But also be careful because it could be a slip
- 33:29Speaker 2: gery slope. Like I said before, do you know if
- 33:32Speaker 2: your friends her credit card like the business class upgrade
- 33:35Speaker 2: I'm promising you is not worth it if you're not
- 33:38Speaker 2: going to be responsible with your finances.
- 33:40Speaker 3: There's not It's not only credit cards right like you
- 33:42Speaker 3: can get here it is. Oh, I was thinking Flybys something.
- 33:45Speaker 2: Yeah, like fly By. Jess is the queen of fly Bys.
- 33:47Speaker 2: Like if I go shopping with Jess, I don't have
- 33:50Speaker 2: fly Bys.
- 33:51Speaker 4: I'm that friend.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I have.
- 33:55Speaker 2: Fly Bys, I just never bring the card. So if
- 33:57Speaker 2: I'm with Jess, I literally turned to her and go,
- 33:59Speaker 2: I don't my card, and she's like, oh, let me
- 34:01Speaker 2: grab mine. Like this woman worked so hard to wield
- 34:08Speaker 2: up her Flybys points that she bought a whole lass
- 34:10Speaker 2: kitchen aid mixer.
- 34:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that's at a dance in vacuum and AirPods.
- 34:14Speaker 2: Oh it's okay, it's been a while since we've had
- 34:18Speaker 2: a little bit of an upgrade or updates. Sorry, Can
- 34:21Speaker 2: I just break this down a little bit further? So
- 34:24Speaker 2: let's pretend Jess and I are going on holiday together.
- 34:26Speaker 2: We've been planning this holiday. Where do we want to go? Jess,
- 34:28Speaker 2: We're go go Barley or something. We're so excited. If
- 34:31Speaker 2: Jess then turned around to me and said, I've upgraded
- 34:33Speaker 2: myself to business and we're not flying together.
- 34:37Speaker 4: You've been miffed.
- 34:38Speaker 2: It's not about that you're in business. It's not about
- 34:41Speaker 2: the additional luxury. It's not about that. What do you
- 34:43Speaker 2: mean aren't we going on holiday together? Why aren't we
- 34:46Speaker 2: sitting together?
- 34:46Speaker 4: Like aren't we going to hang out?
- 34:47Speaker 2: Aren't we like keeping each other company on the long fly?
- 34:50Speaker 2: Like aren't we aren't we going on a holiday together somewhere?
- 34:55Speaker 4: Like That's what I feel is the bigger problem.
- 34:57Speaker 2: Why are you avoiding me?
- 34:59Speaker 1: Like?
- 34:59Speaker 2: I find that's so strange, Like I don't know, Like
- 35:02Speaker 2: when we go on a flight, like Jess and I,
- 35:05Speaker 2: we make sure we're picking our chairs so they're close
- 35:07Speaker 2: to each other because I want to be bored.
- 35:09Speaker 4: Yeah, Like what is that about?
- 35:12Speaker 2: I don't know?
- 35:13Speaker 1: Is that? No?
- 35:13Speaker 2: I get that.
- 35:14Speaker 3: I get that. That makes sense, So it's probably like
- 35:15Speaker 3: that's more the issue than the actual Yeah.
- 35:17Speaker 2: To me, that's more of an issue that your friends
- 35:20Speaker 2: just went and upgraded herself like talking without Like to me,
- 35:24Speaker 2: that's the red flag. The fact that she's been putting
- 35:26Speaker 2: all of your expenses on points Like I kind of
- 35:28Speaker 2: don't care. I'm like, okay, savvy girl is using her
- 35:30Speaker 2: credit card and you clearly don't have one, But why
- 35:33Speaker 2: don't you want to sit together?
- 35:35Speaker 3: Yeah, we fan what did the community have right?
- 35:40Speaker 2: So we had a chat with the community and we said,
- 35:42Speaker 2: what's your two cents? Some of you had a lot
- 35:45Speaker 2: of opinions that were very like ouse, and some of
- 35:47Speaker 2: you did point out that the red flag was actually
- 35:50Speaker 2: more about them upgrading without consultation, not because of the upgrade,
- 35:55Speaker 2: but because they're moving to a different part of the plane.
- 35:58Speaker 2: And some people had some cool opinions. So one person said,
- 36:00Speaker 2: it sounds like a potential value in compatibility. You need
- 36:04Speaker 2: better friends. Someone else said, if they weren't upfront about
- 36:08Speaker 2: spending for points, then it's just a shitty French. Someone
- 36:12Speaker 2: else said that's not the best way to start an
- 36:14Speaker 2: international trip, imo. Someone else said I'd be miffed, but
- 36:18Speaker 2: Godone else said mift yes. Someone else but good on
- 36:23Speaker 2: them for being smart, I guess. Someone else said, this
- 36:26Speaker 2: is a bit of a live and learn situation. Plus
- 36:28Speaker 2: the points may be worth it now, but the annual
- 36:31Speaker 2: fee isn't. Someone else said, I'd probably make the point
- 36:34Speaker 2: by not letting her pay for everything on the card
- 36:37Speaker 2: moving forward, I feel like that's probably a good summary
- 36:40Speaker 2: of everybody's opinions. I don't think I have hips to
- 36:44Speaker 2: add to that, Like, yes, it might be annoying in hindsight,
- 36:48Speaker 2: behindsight is twenty twenty right totally.
- 36:50Speaker 3: And also, do you remember that the holiday is not
- 36:52Speaker 3: the travel there, I know it would suck to not
- 36:55Speaker 3: sit together, but the holiday is actually the destination, isn't
- 36:58Speaker 3: it exactly not the journey.
- 37:00Speaker 2: In that situation, In that particular situation, it's not about
- 37:04Speaker 2: the journey. It's about the destination. I love that. All right, Well,
- 37:08Speaker 2: that's a really good place to leave it. Have the
- 37:10Speaker 2: best week, guys. I'll see you tomorrow for a Sneaky
- 37:13Speaker 2: solo episode and then on Monday, brianon Early for a
- 37:16Speaker 2: money dary. Have a good weekend, guys, Hi, guys Bie.
