- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:42Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a hypnosis session
- 0:46that is designed to change a time consuming habit.
- 0:53And I was working with a client. Who?
- 0:56Wasn't particularly infused about the work that they were
- 0:59doing and and find themselves doing certain things that might
- 1:05be scrolling too much on social media or spending too much time
- 1:08watching videos and it would be a bit of a time drain.
- 1:12And what they figured out is that when you added up that kind
- 1:16of two hours a day over a certain period of time, it added
- 1:20up to weeks and a really significant amount of time that.
- 1:27Particular. If they're waking time so you
- 1:29can't just divide it by 24 hours and say it was the this amount
- 1:32of days because most people sleep for about 8 hours a day.
- 1:35So of waking hours, it was more than a month that they were
- 1:39wasting over a. Particular time.
- 1:41Period. And therefore what this hypnosis
- 1:44session does is enables them to explore two different time
- 1:49frames. A time frame where over the next
- 1:52seven or eight months they do what they have been doing and
- 1:55effectively time gets wasted and their life doesn't really
- 1:58improve. And then a different timeline
- 2:01where that same time that they would have been doing this time
- 2:06wasting habit, they then deploy on making their life better.
- 2:10And that might be figuring out what they want to do.
- 2:13It might be learning certain things, there were certain
- 2:16skills they wanted to learn that could really give them a life of
- 2:19freedom. But the real.
- 2:21Kicker here. The real twist in this is that
- 2:24they had shame attached to what they were currently doing.
- 2:27So in one of the timelines they have to vainly attempt to
- 2:32justify their behavior to their children, knowing that they
- 2:36don't really believe it themselves.
- 2:38And in the second one they get to justify their behavior.
- 2:41That is really empowering and has enriched their life, having
- 2:45broken the habit and introduced something new with that same
- 2:48time to their children. And then that gets linked to a
- 2:50feeling of pride, accomplishment, and being a good
- 2:53role model. So there's a bit going on here.
- 2:55What I would encourage you to do to make the most of this
- 2:58hypnosis session is to think of something that you do currently
- 3:04that is eroding your time because time is really a 0 sum
- 3:08game. If you spend your time in one
- 3:11thing, rarely do you have the ability to simultaneously use
- 3:15that same time in something else.
- 3:17And there are lots of other things that are synergistic and
- 3:20you can dovetail, but time that requires.
- 3:23Your. Attention can't be deployed in
- 3:26two ways simultaneously. So think of that thing that is
- 3:30draining your time right now. And also think, what could you
- 3:34do with that same time that would actually enrich your life
- 3:39so that as you're hearing the session that was creative for
- 3:41someone else, you can map it across and make it more relevant
- 3:44for you. And of course, if you do want it
- 3:47completely relevant for you and just kind of created for you,
- 3:49and we do a session together, check out the link in the show
- 3:52notes where you can book a free 30 minute consultation call on
- 3:55Zoom. We'll have a chat and maybe we
- 3:57end up working together rather than you listening to sessions
- 4:01that were created for other people.
- 4:03So if that appeals, check it out.
- 4:04But for now, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 4:07won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 5:06Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in a
- 5:14resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 5:18And as you exhale, just allow your eyelids to close.
- 5:26And as they close, position your body in a way where you feel
- 5:31comfortable. Feel that you can relax.
- 5:36Just notice that when you breathe in, you can breathe in
- 5:43for slightly longer. And as you exhale, just allow
- 5:51that outward breath to carry on just a few moments longer,
- 6:00almost like you're breathing towards a candle that's maybe a
- 6:07metre or two away. Continue to allow that outward
- 6:11breath to allow that candle to flick out when your lungs are
- 6:19empty. Becomes so much easier to take
- 6:27an even deeper breath in. The deeper you breathe, the more
- 6:33relaxed you become, and the more relaxed you become, the deeper
- 6:40you breathe. I want you to use the power of
- 6:48your imagination to imagine you 10 years from now.
- 7:01I want you to imagine seeing yourself on a beach in Spain.
- 7:10Observe as that version of you is conversing with locals.
- 7:17You can see that you're in great physical shape.
- 7:22There is a smile on your face as you get a sense.
- 7:26Then whatever you're doing 10 years from now is giving you
- 7:31satisfaction, joy, pride and accomplishment.
- 7:39But as you observe that future version of you, you make the
- 7:45evaluation that this isn't work time.
- 7:51This is reflection and introspection time as you see
- 8:00that version of you finding a secluded part of the beach, see
- 8:06that version of you making themselves comfortable, perhaps
- 8:09on a blanket or a lounger. They've got the time to just
- 8:17relax whenever they choose to. And when you see that version of
- 8:24you relaxing on that Spanish beach, clear waters and blue
- 8:29skies, imagine what it would feel like to step into that
- 8:36future version of you. So now you're on the beach,
- 8:42you're feeling relaxed and notice that you breathe even
- 8:50deeper, relax even more. There's blue skies, the sound of
- 8:58waves gently breaking on the shore.
- 9:04I want you to get a sense that here in this place, there's
- 9:08nothing for you to do, just to be present with yourself.
- 9:17So imagine positioning your body on the beach so you can feel
- 9:21that relaxation. And very soon I will count down
- 9:27from 12:50 and with each descending number you will feel
- 9:3310% deeper and deeper relaxed. So scan your body for any clues
- 9:42of tension and then 10, just release any tension in your
- 9:48forehead. Just allow it to feel like it's
- 9:52melting away. 9 Focus now on your jaw, the tiny muscles
- 10:02around your mouth, breathing in relaxation, exhaling tension,
- 10:08enabling you to drift even deeper.
- 10:13And then 8, as you breathe in through your nose, feel like
- 10:18you're breathing in distilled relaxation.
- 10:22Feel that relaxation going into your lungs and imagine your
- 10:27heart distributing that concentrated relaxation to every
- 10:31cell in your body as you feel that breathing is becoming more
- 10:38effortless. That's it.
- 10:41And under your eyelids, just focus now on the top of your
- 10:47head, almost like you're looking at the top of your skull from
- 10:52within. Feel the tension in your eyes as
- 10:55you allow your neck and shoulders to relax.
- 11:00That's it. 8 becomes 7 and then six as you feel your arms
- 11:04relaxing. Allow your eyelids to relax.
- 11:08That's it taking you deeper and deeper.
- 11:13Relax. Just imagine your arms feel
- 11:15limp, loose and heavy, like the limbs of a puppet with no
- 11:22strings. You're on that beach, feeling
- 11:26relaxed, feeling in a good place.
- 11:30No frustrations, no tension, just feeling relaxed.
- 11:33And then five, allow your internal organs to relax too.
- 11:40Imagine your heart, lungs, stomach all relaxing
- 11:44simultaneously as you feel like you're drifting off towards a
- 11:50dreamlike sleep. Everyone's fallen asleep once on
- 11:55the beach, and sometimes they have fascinating dreams.
- 12:01And then four, just focus on your gut, the bank account of
- 12:05anxiety as you breathe in relaxation, just allow all the
- 12:10muscles in your gut to relax. And then three, that relaxation
- 12:15spreading down into your legs, two down into your calf muscles
- 12:20and your feet, and then one from the tips of your toes to the top
- 12:25of your head and then back down to your fingertips.
- 12:29Feel that wave of relaxation. Imagine drifting off into that
- 12:36dreamlike nap. And in that dreamlike nap, find
- 12:42yourself on the same beach, this time at your current age, seeing
- 12:49that older version of you in that dreamlike sleep there on
- 12:52the beach. It's almost like you've gone
- 12:56back in time to where you are now.
- 13:00Walk down the beach and see a doorway that shouldn't be there
- 13:05because it's not connected to a building.
- 13:08Just a doorway on a beach. But this doorway is a portal to
- 13:14your own private cinema. Stand in front of that door and
- 13:20I'll countdown from 5:00 to 1:00 and you will imagine opening the
- 13:23door and walking through 5. Just imagine putting your hand
- 13:28on the handle 4 turning the handle, 3 opening the door, 2
- 13:33walking through the door, and one closing the door behind you.
- 13:40And just imagine walking now into your own private cinema, a
- 13:45luxurious cinema. It's completely empty, but I
- 13:52want you to find the most comfortable seat in this cinema.
- 13:56And for some reason this cinema has two screens rather than one
- 14:06screen on the left and a screen on the right.
- 14:11And the screen on the left is about to show you what the next
- 14:16seven months look like if habits remain the same.
- 14:25So let's play that first film where you see yourself waking up
- 14:32tomorrow. Maybe there is clues to feeling
- 14:40of boredom, frustration. See yourself regularly checking
- 14:49your phone, see that it is calling you in some way.
- 14:58It is predictable, gives you a sense of guarantees that it can
- 15:04make you feel not amazing but just distracted.
- 15:11And I want you to see that timeline where for at least two
- 15:16hours a day, you're spending time on your phone and doing
- 15:20something that is gratifying but not pleasurable.
- 15:29Perhaps it cures boredom but not really offers you stimulation or
- 15:36excitement. This is the version of you
- 15:40settling, figuring out a way to just get by, and I want you to
- 15:49see day after day of you spending that two or more hours
- 15:54a day doing what you consider to be wasting time.
- 16:02The wasting time has a good intention, but it's taking more
- 16:07than it's giving. I want you to CEO for the next 7
- 16:121/2 months that this version of you would be using over 460
- 16:22hours of your time, the equivalent of two months of a
- 16:31working day. I want you to get a sense that
- 16:36that version of you doesn't seem happy, excited or motivated,
- 16:43just getting through day after day.
- 16:50But I want you to see that there are moments of joy, fulfilment
- 16:56and accomplishment. It's just not coming from the
- 17:00phone. See those moments when you feel
- 17:04accomplished. It might be doing something
- 17:07you're proud of in your work, achieving a new PB in the gym,
- 17:15being present with your children.
- 17:19The real moments of joy or accomplishment are not spent
- 17:23scrolling on a phone looking for something to make you feel the
- 17:31illusion of pleasure. So let's follow that timeline
- 17:37all the way. Spring is gone, summer is gone
- 17:43and autumn is there. And see that version of you.
- 17:49And some random day in November, knowing that there is an autumn
- 17:55and a winter of dark nights, grey skies and lots of rain and
- 18:05very little to show for it. From all of that wasted time,
- 18:12give yourself permission that this can be your future if you
- 18:18desire it. Some people think it takes a lot
- 18:24to change, but you can inverse that same idea as you come to
- 18:30the conclusion that whatever you are not changing, you are
- 18:35choosing. And if you choose not to change,
- 18:40then you are choosing to keep things the same.
- 18:44Either way, it's a choice. And if you get a sense that
- 18:49knowing what you now know, knowing that that time will
- 18:53pass, knowing that it could close doors rather than open
- 18:58doors, that if you would choose that future, choose to waste all
- 19:05of that time, let me know by nodding your head.
- 19:10Or if there's a feeling that you would prefer a different
- 19:13timeline, let me know. So breathe in and breathe out.
- 19:30Just imagine those cinema curtains that are normally red
- 19:34to close that first screen. You're now seeing the second
- 19:39screen. And I want you to see a version
- 19:43of you that understands that time will pass irrespective of
- 19:50what you do with that time. I want you to see that version
- 19:55of you in the second screen that has a new found sense of
- 20:00clarity. And you can tell that from your
- 20:03facial expression. There is a resolve, not the kind
- 20:10of resolve that Peters out after a few weeks.
- 20:16That kind of tenacity and resolve that gets stronger over
- 20:23time. I want you to see that version
- 20:27of you that has done certain things to create friction.
- 20:38Maybe that certain sites have been blocked from your phone.
- 20:46Maybe there's certain timers to alert you with certain
- 20:51applications that automatically switch off.
- 20:56Maybe they're set to two minutes or three minutes.
- 21:02I want you to see. That there.
- 21:03Are other things designed to make you think?
- 21:12I want you to get a sense that this version of you has created
- 21:18small barriers to do less of one thing and more of something
- 21:23else. Maybe see that that version of
- 21:27you is downloaded new applications or reactivated old
- 21:35applications that needed to be updated.
- 21:39The kind of applications where you could learn new things.
- 21:44The kind of applications where you would get dopamine from
- 21:48accomplishment rather than gratification.
- 21:54And I want you to see that this version of you and this new
- 21:58timeline is using those same two hours that were wasted to enrich
- 22:06your life. This version of you is learning
- 22:10new things and each time you learn something new who are
- 22:16updating how you think your future will be.
- 22:22This version of you seems to have a spring in their step or
- 22:29enthusiasm for life. That every time they choose
- 22:33something that enriches their life, they feel better, and
- 22:39every time they choose not to do what they were doing before,
- 22:43they feel like they are in control, masters of their own
- 22:49destiny. And in the first few weeks,
- 22:53nothing much changes. But over time, everything
- 22:59changes. See this version of you?
- 23:03That there's a new found level of confidence and self esteem.
- 23:10That version of you is more present when spending time with
- 23:17their children. That version of you seems to be
- 23:23more focused, more determined when if they spend time in the
- 23:28gym. I want you to see that this
- 23:32version of you is the same you on a different trajectory.
- 23:38A trajectory that takes your future to a much better place.
- 23:45I want you to imagine two people standing standing in a field and
- 23:52imagine one person walking in One Direction and the other
- 23:56person walks in a roughly similar direction but just a few
- 23:59degrees to a tangent. After a few hours, they end up
- 24:09in entirely different places, even though they started in
- 24:13exactly the same place. The version of you that
- 24:19continues with habits that steal your time will be in a different
- 24:27place seven months from now than a version of you that deploys
- 24:31that time well. Clarity on goals.
- 24:36Figuring out how you want your future to be.
- 24:43Subtle changes at first, dramatic changes over time.
- 24:51I want you to go back to that first film of that first future.
- 25:00Imagine that random day in November and then step into that
- 25:05version of you and maybe there's a feeling of frustration or
- 25:09regret. But I want you to imagine that
- 25:13you are asking your children to have a chat with you and I want
- 25:21you to tell them what you did with that two hours every day.
- 25:27Does it inspire them or make them feel uncomfortable or
- 25:32ashamed? Imagine the words leaving your
- 25:37mouth, what you did in that first future where all that time
- 25:43went, and the harder you try to justify it, the more hollow it
- 25:49sounds. See their facial expressions
- 25:54making judgements about you and notice how that makes you feel.
- 26:00And if it feels like this is a future you're choosing now to
- 26:07avoid, let me know by nodding your head.
- 26:10That's it. Anchor and amplify that feeling.
- 26:14And then jump back and see the second film, the second
- 26:19timeline. You doing something where for
- 26:23two hours or more a day you were doing something to enrich your
- 26:27life, learning new skills, accumulating more knowledge,
- 26:33doing things that create momentum, intensity, and joy in
- 26:38your life. It's still you.
- 26:42You just get dopamine linked to actual accomplishment rather
- 26:46than gratification. See that version of you 7 or 8
- 26:51months from now with all the things that you're able to do,
- 26:58and then imagine asking your children to have a chat with
- 27:02you. Step into that version of you
- 27:06and notice how your words feel different when you tell them
- 27:09what you've been up to, things you couldn't do, and things you
- 27:13now can. Maybe you can speak to them in a
- 27:17different language. Show them something you've
- 27:22created with an application or software that you've developed.
- 27:32Maybe there's something physical that you can do seven months
- 27:36from now that you wouldn't if you followed a different
- 27:40trajectory. I want you to notice their
- 27:45facial expressions is now different.
- 27:49Maybe more inspiration, pride. Maybe you are planting seeds in
- 27:57their mind that they too should not settle.
- 28:03They should strive for an incredible life, not afraid to
- 28:09do difficult things, not afraid to stick to things even when
- 28:14things get difficult. And if this feels like a more
- 28:18desirable future, let me know by nodding your head.
- 28:24Just imagine giving your children a hug.
- 28:28Tell them you're proud of them, but notice you're also proud of
- 28:32yourself. In the past you've done
- 28:37something that was more like self sabotage or something that.
- 28:45At least a. Part of you was maybe ashamed
- 28:47of, whereas this version of you has given a gift to yourself
- 28:54consistently, day after day after day, and that is reflected
- 29:00in all of the wonderful emotions you feel.
- 29:06Some people say that the definition of self esteem is the
- 29:09contrast between your current self and your ideal self.
- 29:17And notice how easy it is to make the evaluation of which of
- 29:21these two futures is closer to your ideal self.
- 29:29It's time to leave this cinema. But you leave the cinema with a
- 29:33sense of new found clarity, new connotations, knowing that you
- 29:40can choose whatever you choose to choose, but knowing that
- 29:46whatever you're not changing, you are choosing.
- 29:50So as you leave that cinema, find yourself walking out of a
- 29:54door, back onto a beach. And as you walk down the beach,
- 29:58see that there is someone that looks like you 10 years from
- 30:01now, looking healthy and happy in a dreamlike sleep.
- 30:07Step into that version of you, your future version of you,
- 30:10feeling that the choices you make now echo through time all
- 30:17the way into your future. Now is your time.
- 30:24So breathe in and breathe out and feel like it's time to
- 30:27return to the here and now with these shifts ready to take
- 30:34place. So take a deep breath in through
- 30:37your nose and out through your nose.
- 30:42Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 30:44Connect fully into the here and there now as I now count from
- 30:481:00 to 10:00 to awaken you. Starting to count. 123 waking up
- 30:56456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 31:00Open your eyes. 910 Wide awake. Wide awake.
- 31:05Wide awake. Thank you for listening to The
