- 1:05SPEAKER_02: Recording, we're good to go.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: Hello, everyone.
- 1:09SPEAKER_02: Welcome back to another episode of the campfire that is kinky and all the things around it.
- 1:15SPEAKER_02: So we dance around naked and it's getting colder.
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's getting colder, so we gotta spark up the flames a little bit.
- 1:22SPEAKER_02: It feels more in the mood.
- 1:23SPEAKER_02: It was very hot summer.
- 1:25SPEAKER_02: So now we have the you know the warm the cooler weather coming around.
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: I don't know about you, but I felt it.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: It's a little bit ridiculous.
- 1:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so it is the beginning of October.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: As we said in the last podcast, kind of sorter.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: It is after Smut Convention.
- 1:40SPEAKER_02: So we are feeling a little bit high from that.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: I know I am, it's my first time.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: It was fun.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:47SPEAKER_02: So we're going to get into that.
- 1:49SPEAKER_02: A little uh foreshadowing of today's episode.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: We're going to get into that after we tell you what we're drinking.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm boring that tonight.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I am drinking a uh a Coke Zero.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: So that's pretty good.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Taco Bell.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:03SPEAKER_02: What did you get from Taco Bell?
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Uh nachos Bell Grande and Soft Taco Supreme.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: Ooh, that's pretty good.
- 2:09SPEAKER_02: What is your favorite Taco Bell thing that's no longer in the menu?
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: We're gonna start writing to food.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: That's no longer well no, they brought the pizza back.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: No, the tostada.
- 2:24SPEAKER_02: Tostada?
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: I miss the tostada.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: That was good.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: I miss the um the fries.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: They have those back.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: They have those back now?
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: I can't go back.
- 2:35SPEAKER_02: I can't go back.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: What was your what's your favorite like thing from Taco Bell that's just like uh you gotta crave it sometimes?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Uh bean burrito, no onions, extra cheese, extra red sauce.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: No onions.
- 2:47SPEAKER_02: No, those are so specific.
- 2:49SPEAKER_02: No onions.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: I was just gonna say a steak quesadilla, but no.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Um it's a very specific order.
- 2:55SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: I gotta remember that.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 2:58SPEAKER_02: I know what to get you for your birthday present.
- 3:00SPEAKER_02: For me, it's just a steak quesadilla.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: If somebody sent me a steak quesadilla with barbecue sauce, like I went to Taco Bell, brought you steak quesadilla with barbecue sauce.
- 3:06SPEAKER_02: I'm like, uh I'm gonna do nice things to you.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna have to be nice to you and give you like a back rub or something because it's just like there's just that's it.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: That does it for you with barbecue sauce.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: You know, I remember Bell doesn't serve barbecue sauce.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: That's why they gotta get the barbecue sauce.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: They gotta get the barbecue sauce, yeah.
- 3:29SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna list all before I get to my drink.
- 3:31SPEAKER_02: I'm not gonna list all of my favorite barbecue sauces, but there's one specifically that I would like.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: But yes, barbecue sauce and steak.
- 3:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, have you uh have you have you had Mexican anything Mexican with barbecue sauce on it?
- 3:41SPEAKER_02: No, oh my god.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: I'm just saying, you wrap that thing, especially like the taco bell quesadilla, you could just like wrap it in a little taquito type thing and just dunk that thing in barbecue.
- 3:50SPEAKER_01: Oh barbecue sauce.
- 3:51SPEAKER_01: So good.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Wow, okay but um before the steak quesadilla, before I found out about barbecue sauce, it was the steak gordita.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Love me some steak gorditas back when they were like a dollar twenty or whatever it is now.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: I can't even I can't even look at those prices and be happy about it.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: It's so ridiculous.
- 4:06SPEAKER_02: Plus, it just tears my stomach up.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: I have to apologize to everybody that I'm with after Taco Bell.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: It's like, oh god.
- 4:12SPEAKER_02: And I used to be able to get the taco boxes or like the half taco, half burrito, and be able to eat that thing by myself.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Oh, I remember those, the party packs.
- 4:19SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, I mean, they still have them.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: I just can't finish it anymore.
- 4:23SPEAKER_02: I have to stop eating because it's like, oh god, what am I doing to myself?
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: It's just hot mess.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: Decisions were made.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: But yeah, steak, steak gordita and then uh steak quesadilla.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: Oh, the cheese will tear me up too.
- 4:34SPEAKER_02: Anyways, I'm drinking two things because I gotta I got it's been a long day.
- 4:39SPEAKER_02: So I have some green tea in my favorite cup.
- 4:42SPEAKER_02: I forgot the brand again, but it's just green tea.
- 4:45SPEAKER_02: Or um been learning Japanese and I forgot what it is.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Oh cha.
- 4:48SPEAKER_02: Ocha.
- 4:49SPEAKER_02: Och cha.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Ocha des it's green tea.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Okay, yeah, I'm learning some Japanese as a precursor.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Um and then I have um I have uh sparkling ice caffeine black black uh raspberry.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: If anybody knows about sparkling ice, I hope most people do now because I see it on TV shows.
- 5:07SPEAKER_02: It's a little skinny plastic tubes that they have, all the different flavors.
- 5:10SPEAKER_02: They started making an energy drink uh with a bunch of different flavors now.
- 5:14SPEAKER_02: They only had like two, but now they have like five, six, ten energy um flavors.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: And this stuff is amazing because it's not as much caffeine as a bang.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Uh, only five calories and no sugar still.
- 5:26SPEAKER_02: So um 70 milligrams per 16 fluid ounces.
- 5:32SPEAKER_02: Um, it's delicious.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: Uh you know what time it is.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: You ready?
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: You want to join me?
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: Come on, get some Coke Zero in there.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: Taco Bell Coke Zero.
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Nope.
- 5:43SPEAKER_02: Oh, side note before I start, because I'm just gonna tease you with this.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: I'm teasing you with this.
- 5:47SPEAKER_02: Do you notice that certain fast food places have different tasting um uh soda?
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: Yes, okay.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: So it's not just me.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: No, okay, because I've heard people say it, but I still thought I was crazy.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: Like McDonald's sprites different.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Yes, yes, and then like Coke, and even though it's like some places Coke and Pepsi, but it's still like if you go one place that has Coke, something different about it.
- 6:06SPEAKER_02: They say that McDonald's adds extra sugar.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: No, they can't, not to their Sprite.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: It's just extra spicy for some reason.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Extra spicy?
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: It's just extra what else is it?
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: No, I don't know.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: It's like extra spice.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, I'll tell you the coke or something.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay.
- 6:20SPEAKER_02: That's what they said about I haven't heard about any other pisses, but okay, not just me.
- 6:23SPEAKER_02: I would say maybe it's the cups too.
- 6:25SPEAKER_02: It's like the the the cardboard paper cup versus the plastic cup might make a difference.
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: Um, but even though the cup the paper cup has a lining on it, I'm just I'm just teasing you right now because you know what's happening.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: I know, yeah.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's just doing that.
- 6:37SPEAKER_02: And maybe the straws too, but okay, it's time.
- 6:40SPEAKER_02: You ready?
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: It's the Ansomar.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: 30 seconds.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Just uh get it over with.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Oh my gosh.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Disturbing.
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: Um that was a long 30 second.
- 6:58SPEAKER_02: That wasn't even 30 seconds.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: I barely drank anything.
- 7:01SPEAKER_02: I just made extra noise just for you.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Because I'm trying to make it an actual minute.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: It's not working though.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: Um I got part two.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: And here we go.
- 7:13SPEAKER_00: For the record, I never agreed to this part.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: Just thought I'd bring that up.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Not sponsored, by the way.
- 7:19SPEAKER_02: So Taco Bell and uh Sparkling Ice.
- 7:22SPEAKER_02: Um, just not sponsored.
- 7:23SPEAKER_02: But you know, we be we we drink and then you you bring drinks over, so I gotta drink it.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: So, you know, you might as well say something.
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: And we would love to be sponsored.
- 7:31SPEAKER_02: Once again, um, what's your peanut screwball?
- 7:34SPEAKER_02: We were we're just gonna keep screw screwballing out there.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: If you like whiskey and you like peanut butter, this is my uh sponsor.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Is this what this sounds like?
- 7:43SPEAKER_02: This is my sponsor voice.
- 7:44SPEAKER_02: So if you ever wanted to sponsor us out there, we would this is what it this is what this is the quality you'd be getting.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 7:50SPEAKER_02: If you like peanut butter and you like whiskey, do I have got something for you?
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Screwball 1950s right now.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: That's right.
- 7:57SPEAKER_02: It's lovely and it's delicious.
- 7:59SPEAKER_02: I like it on the rocks and I like it's room temperature.
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: I wouldn't I they're not gonna sponsor us based on that.
- 8:05SPEAKER_02: That's not true.
- 8:06SPEAKER_02: You don't know that.
- 8:07SPEAKER_02: I we have a very specific demographic here that's not untouched, okay?
- 8:10SPEAKER_02: Um if you uh uh what was I gonna say?
- 8:12SPEAKER_02: If you uh I wouldn't drink it warm though.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: I don't know if I'd drink it warm, but this isn't helping your cause.
- 8:19SPEAKER_02: Um it's delicious.
- 8:21SPEAKER_02: Um I like it in a in a glass.
- 8:23SPEAKER_02: I like it mixed in, preferably with some um I forgot the raspberry liquor.
- 8:28SPEAKER_02: Makes a good peanut butter and jelly shot.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: It's delicious.
- 8:31SPEAKER_02: Uh maybe with some uh Fanta, different kind of Fanta.
- 8:37SPEAKER_02: Tastes like a peanut butter, peanut butter delicious in your mouth.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: So if you like peanut butter and you like whiskey, try a screw ball today.
- 8:45SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: Yum.
- 8:47SPEAKER_01: Moving on.
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: Yum.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yum.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, yum.
- 8:51SPEAKER_02: Okay, so uh this is the around the kinky fire.
- 8:56SPEAKER_02: Stop playing with my knife.
- 8:57SPEAKER_02: You're playing with my knife again.
- 8:58SPEAKER_02: Around the kinky campfire, where we talk about all things BDSM, kink related, non-monogamy, and a little bit of touchy geeky because you guys like that as well.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: Still trying to get Rue over here on the um on the uh anime side because um the the one show I told you about last time just finished and it was so good.
- 9:17SPEAKER_00: Not happening.
- 9:18SPEAKER_02: Oh my god.
- 9:19SPEAKER_02: One of these days.
- 9:20SPEAKER_02: Um so we uh trying to make those topics, those taboo topics, quote unquote, not so stigmatized.
- 9:32SPEAKER_02: We destigmatizing and making it not.
- 9:36SPEAKER_02: And I am going to go second, and I have my lovely host here, and her name is This is Ryu, and my name is Mango Boogies.
- 9:47SPEAKER_02: That's the name.
- 9:49SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: Mango Boogies is here, aka Julius.
- 9:54SPEAKER_02: Mango Boogies is here to uh educate y'all.
- 9:57SPEAKER_02: As we said at the top of the episode, we are talking about the SMUT convention that was the end of September in Orlando at the Rosen Center.
- 10:09SPEAKER_02: I don't know how much more specifically we want to go with that.
- 10:12SPEAKER_02: Uh, do you want to give an overall synopsis of what was going on?
- 10:17SPEAKER_00: So the convention was called Smut Lovers.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: It's a it was such an amazing, this was their inaugural year, so first year having it.
- 10:26SPEAKER_00: Um they did such an amazing job.
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: So it is a book conference for SMUT books, and it is um part for the readers and part for the authors, um, very education heavy, not just meet and greet.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: And so it was a started Thursday night with a sponsored meet and greet, um, little social, and then Friday was panels and education-based and demos, and then Saturday was um more meeting the authors and a chance for readers to meet their favorite authors, and the authors went all out.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: They had pre-sales that they advertised online, they had exclusives for the conference only books that you could only get at the conference.
- 11:24SPEAKER_00: They were signing autographs, they brought their uh cover models.
- 11:28SPEAKER_00: It was they had swag, they had, I mean, it was it was a great time.
- 11:34SPEAKER_00: It was really, really amazing.
- 11:38SPEAKER_02: Okay, so I I missed the the first couple days.
- 11:40SPEAKER_02: The meet and greet.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: What so do the readers actually meet the authors that day or well so it was so the there's a a bunch of different types of tickets that you can buy.
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: You can buy the author's ticket where you're there for all the things, you can buy a VIP ticket that can be a reader or an author where you're there for the whole thing, or you can buy um single day where like if you're a reader and you want to come in and just meet the authors, attend the after party, things of that nature, then you can buy a single day ticket.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: So it just depends on what you want how much you want to participate.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: So, okay.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: So Thursday, the meet and greet was everybody just kind of hanging out.
- 12:26SPEAKER_00: Meet and greet was mostly, I believe, the VIPs.
- 12:29SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: Yes, that was part of the VIP ticket.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Okay, and so it was sponsored by um an author, and so they sponsored the party.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: So everybody got to come in, they got to pre-register and get all of their stuff.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Um, they got to um it was like a little cocktail party, just uh social, just where everybody can that because some people fly in early and get there early to be ready for the whole weekend, so it just gives everybody a chance to meet everybody and and say hi and get it acclimated to the space and and stuff like that.
- 13:03SPEAKER_02: So Friday, uh I looked at the schedule and the panels and stuff from the afternoon.
- 13:09SPEAKER_02: What happened in the morning?
- 13:10SPEAKER_02: Panels, panels in the morning, too.
- 13:12SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: It was panels in the morning and panels and round tables in the afternoon.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:17SPEAKER_00: So it was more education heavy.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: Everything was education based on um Friday, and so they had open panels in the morning, and in the afternoon they had author panels, author-specific, um related panels, and then for the readers who were there for the VIP um aspect of it for the whole weekend, they had activities for the readers.
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: I they had a scavenger hunt where they had to post pictures of all the things, and it was really fun.
- 13:45SPEAKER_00: So a lot of it was together, and then some of it was specific if you're a reader or an author.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: Oh, and uh what what did you do on Friday?
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: On Friday, I was uh part of some panels.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: I was up there for um reality versus fiction.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: Oh, right, interesting.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: I was up there for um there is a uh local establishment that did like a 101 class.
- 14:14SPEAKER_00: Um we did a rope 101 for everybody, and then in the afternoon I was part of a Violet Wand demo round table thing.
- 14:27SPEAKER_02: So was newly because so the hotel that this is is that is um where this is hosted has a lot of conventions in there.
- 14:38SPEAKER_02: There's like two or other three conventions going on at the same time.
- 14:41SPEAKER_02: We were surrounded, and a bunch of after parties, which was always interesting.
- 14:44SPEAKER_02: Even the time that I was there was interesting to see the people's faces and looks and stuff like that.
- 14:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah, it's great.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: Um, so it was interesting to see this going on in this space.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: Uh was there nudity allowed?
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: No.
- 16:20SPEAKER_00: Okay, no nudity.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: There it wasn't an open play space, it's a book convention.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: And so you still have to abide by all of the public stuff.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: So no, everybody was very tastefully dressed, and I mean there were people that had fun with their with their clothes and and such, and you could be a little cheeky with your clothes, but you it wasn't anything that wasn't street legal.
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: You still had to be street legal to be in the space.
- 16:49SPEAKER_02: I saw some pasties.
- 16:50SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 16:52SPEAKER_00: At night more than anything for the after party on Saturday, but not during the day.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: Some of the models got yeah, they were they were they're looking very nice.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:03SPEAKER_02: Um, so demo.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: How did the demo go?
- 17:08SPEAKER_00: It went really well.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: It was we didn't have very long for our round tables.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I think they were only like 20, 30 minutes.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it was uh really education-based, and uh uh a lot of readers and writers like they they write about this, they write smut books about all different genres, all different types of relationships, um, all different topics, um, but they haven't necessarily seen it in person.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Or or maybe they haven't really um had a chance to talk to people who live the lifestyle.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: So this was really an opportunity for people like me to get in front of authors so that they can pick our brains and make their books as realistic as they like because the readers are getting smarter.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: You know, the readers have access to the internet now, and while they read these books to escape, and there is a a huge fantasy aspect to it, there is doses of realism in there, and the readers like the idea that, yeah, this is fantasy, but they're you know, could this really happen?
- 18:18SPEAKER_00: Like, does this really happen?
- 18:20SPEAKER_00: It really makes them think.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: So authors are working really hard to um make sure that a lot of the things that they talk about are certain aspects and um that they get a more in-depth understanding of what goes on behind it.
- 18:38SPEAKER_00: So yeah, this was I've worked um a few book conventions in the past.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: Uh this is I think my third or fourth one that I've done.
- 18:48SPEAKER_00: And it's intriguing to to hear some of the questions that they ask and how deep they want to get with the understanding of it because they really, really are the like smut books aren't just you know the little Harlequin 25 cent things that you get off a bookshelf from like the 1970s anymore.
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: They're full-blown storylines with you know plots and depths and and re-evolving characters, and some of them are series, and these authors work so hard on them, and a lot of them are are self-published, and so some of them make it to like a uh the like the New York Top 10, um, the post top 10, all of those, and some of them don't, but a majority of them are self-published, and so stuff like this really helps get their name out there and get their craft out there.
- 19:40SPEAKER_02: So before you keep going, for the younger kids out there, Harley, you want to explain what Harley Quit is?
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: Um they okay, so like back when I was a kid, like let's just go to the 70s and 80s.
- 19:50SPEAKER_00: You could go to the drugstore, right?
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: And you know, they always had bookshelves in the drugstore, and they would have these itty bitty little, like really thin books, and they were like romances, and you could read it in like an hour, and they were like a quarter each, and it always had you usually had a damsel in distress and a cowboy that's gonna save her, or a knight in shining armor.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that was that was a common theme.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: A knight in shining armor, and it was steamy and it was romantic, and for the time it was as um edgy as as society allowed for it to still be um sold in in public like that.
- 20:37SPEAKER_00: So that's where a lot of these books, that's like where they originated from, and they've just evolved over you know the last 20-30 years.
- 20:48SPEAKER_02: Okay, so now we got a whole convention uh of that multiple whole conventions.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: There's muff conventions across the country.
- 20:55SPEAKER_02: Okay, multiple conventions.
- 20:57SPEAKER_02: Harlequin and yeah, most most of us know uh Joker's girlfriend.
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well Harlequin is the name of the I think it's the publisher or it was the name of the book that came out with all these itty bitty little stories there or Harlequins.
- 21:12SPEAKER_02: That's where the that's where her name came from, and a lot of people don't know that part.
- 21:15SPEAKER_02: Um, so that's interesting.
- 21:17SPEAKER_02: And then um, so did you get any consultant uh um requests or uh propositions?
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: No, I got to network, you know.
- 21:25SPEAKER_00: I I actually had a business card and shared that.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: And um, so there's I'm I'm networking myself as what's called a sensitivity reader.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: And um it's basically where you take certain aspects or um certain things within a book, like they could be writing about impact play, or they could be writing, say, a non-consent scene, things like that, or you know, somebody um was raped, you know, consensually or non-consensually, things of that nature.
- 22:03SPEAKER_00: Um, and so they can run it by a beta reader or a sensitivity reader, somebody who has real life experience with what they're doing, that can give insight of I get where you're going, but that's really not the reality of it.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: And they can give feedback to help make their stories um more accurate or more more realistic and and in line with where it with what really happens.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: So you or have you gotten a proposition proposition?
- 22:33SPEAKER_02: No, not yet.
- 22:33SPEAKER_00: I'm just starting to put myself out there as one.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: Ooh, that's interesting.
- 22:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that'd be very good.
- 22:40SPEAKER_02: That's so interesting, people that uh they write about it and then haven't experienced it yet.
- 22:46SPEAKER_02: That's so crazy.
- 22:47SPEAKER_00: Well, I mean, we talk about we talk about things that we haven't experienced all the time.
- 22:52SPEAKER_00: Like I'm I mean, just because you haven't experienced it doesn't mean you can't catch the essence of it and and create it.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: I mean, because they're all fictional stories.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: So I mean it's really uh up to you where your story goes.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: You know the the person who wrote Moby Dick's never actually been in the belly of a whale, but it's a bestseller.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: So I mean people have been writing fiction without experiencing what they're writing about since fictions existed.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: So why would this be any different?
- 23:23SPEAKER_00: Except now this genre is choosing to pick the brains of people who do live what they write about to just help make it a little bit more realistic.
- 23:33SPEAKER_02: Funny to find out that they actually got swallowed by like a whale shark like that lady did the other day.
- 23:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is these people that got swallowed by the blue whale and stuff like that.
- 23:40SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, by the way, this is yeah, this is Moby Nixon.
- 23:45SPEAKER_00: It was so unique and so great because it mixed in the the excitement of a book conference and like the networking of a book conference and had so much educational aspects and value to it that it just it it blew everybody away.
- 24:02SPEAKER_00: It was it for a first year, it was it was great.
- 24:07SPEAKER_00: It it was amazing.
- 24:08SPEAKER_00: I can't wait till next year.
- 24:09SPEAKER_02: So what happened last year?
- 24:10SPEAKER_02: Did you do something?
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: I did one.
- 24:12SPEAKER_00: It was called Shameless.
- 24:13SPEAKER_00: And so it was their last year having it.
- 24:16SPEAKER_00: So Shameless, um, no, they are no longer producing Shameless anymore.
- 24:22SPEAKER_00: The person who ran that convention's no longer running conventions.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: And so um this person has stepped up and created SMUT lovers.
- 24:30SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: I got yeah, volunteer my first day.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: I'll talk about my day on Saturday.
- 24:35SPEAKER_02: It was interesting.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: So they've already got a um everything out there for SMUTLovers next year.
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: We need to they've got a website.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's tickets went on sale.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: Tickets are on sale, they're doing VIP, sponsorships are available.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: If you are an aspiring author or a current author that would like to present and be there, I believe they are still um taking those interest forms, but I um have heard on Good Authority that they are getting dangerously close to being full already and might have to go on a wait list already for authors.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: So yeah, definitely if it's something that you are interested in um as an author, I would do that sooner than later.
- 25:19SPEAKER_00: And they are even putting interest forums out for 2025 already because people have had such a huge interest in it.
- 25:28SPEAKER_00: So if you go to any any um uh like Google search or any search engine and just put in SmutLovers um conference, all of the information about it uh will come up and you'll get to see what we did this year and what they're projecting for next year.
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so yeah, it's still gonna be in Orlando.
- 25:52SPEAKER_02: Looks like at the same hotel.
- 25:54SPEAKER_02: No, it's a different hotel.
- 25:55SPEAKER_02: It's a different hotel, yes.
- 25:57SPEAKER_02: Look at there.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Okay, so we'll put that in the description.
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: But um, so oh, what was you said you had interesting questions.
- 26:05SPEAKER_02: What was the most interesting question you got?
- 26:07SPEAKER_00: Um Oh my gosh, it was such a blur.
- 26:11SPEAKER_00: Um I don't know that I got one specific.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: It was because we sat on panels, and so it wasn't one-on-one questioning.
- 26:21SPEAKER_00: Like somebody would ask a question and we would all just give insight.
- 26:24SPEAKER_02: What about after your demo?
- 26:26SPEAKER_00: Um, well, the demo was on Violet Wand, and so people are just you know interested in the sensation and the safety aspect of it.
- 26:34SPEAKER_00: Are there certain people that shouldn't do it or should do it?
- 26:37SPEAKER_00: Um, things like that.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: And then um Saturday, the during the afternoon, they had the signing, and then they had an after party Saturday night.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: So yeah, and the theme for next year's uh Moulin Rouge.
- 26:52SPEAKER_00: So that's gonna be really fun.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: That's really gonna be interesting.
- 26:55SPEAKER_02: We're gonna talk about Friday night.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: Friday night, okay.
- 26:58SPEAKER_00: So the there is a local play space um to it to Orlando, and uh so they host a an intro, like a 101 class once a month.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: And so they advertised it, and so a bunch of people from the conference went over and did their 101 class, which was a lot of fun.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: Um, some people stayed after and and hung out and got some hands-on experience.
- 27:25SPEAKER_02: Some of those authors got some uh creators.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: They did authors and readers got some hands-on experience, which was amazing.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: It was it was amazing to watch.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Um, and then right back to um some education and networking on Saturday, and then the big open event for everybody during the day, and then we all tore down and recovered and went back for the um after party Saturday night.
- 27:52SPEAKER_02: And then you uh what did you what did you do for the after party?
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: Well, um I ended up doing an impact demo and an impact performance on stage in front of everybody.
- 28:03SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that was a lot of fun.
- 28:06SPEAKER_00: That was a little nerve-wracking.
- 28:07SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that was I saw pictures.
- 28:08SPEAKER_02: It was very brightly lit compared to what we're normally used to.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: It was.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: It's very center stage in the middle of the room, um, nowhere to go, nowhere to hide.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Nobody else doing anything else.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: Nobody else doing everything else.
- 28:23SPEAKER_00: Everybody in the room's watching you.
- 28:25SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:26SPEAKER_02: Must have been interesting.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: It was.
- 28:28SPEAKER_00: I mean, it was an amazing after party.
- 28:29SPEAKER_00: They had burlesque dancers, they did um an improv, a small improv show.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: They had go-go dancers in between time for entertainment.
- 28:39SPEAKER_02: They had an improv show too.
- 28:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in the beginning.
- 28:41SPEAKER_00: Um, they also had a um Shibari performance um by some friends of mine that did an amazing, amazing Shibari performance.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, so it was like a rope.
- 28:55SPEAKER_00: It's uh I'm a bad person to explain.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: That's why I wanted you to do it because there's Western rope and then there's um Japanese, I believe it's Japanese rope, and Shibari is more of the um my understanding, please don't come at me, is more of the the decorative um form of rope play.
- 29:23SPEAKER_00: There it is suspension, it is very intricate um transitions of the position of the person in rope.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: Um it's just it's beautiful, it's beautiful to watch.
- 29:37SPEAKER_00: So sometimes set to music, so it's like a yeah, this was set to music, and it definitely was uh it was a performance.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: They're they're both amazing people and they're very good at what they do.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: So I'm pretty sure everybody was like well, and it was neat because a lot of these people got to see what they write about.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: It's very quiet and wide-eyed a lot of the time.
- 29:59SPEAKER_00: Very much so.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: Um it was humbling afterward.
- 30:04SPEAKER_00: Not gonna lie.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: Um people people want to come up and they want to share with you after they see something like that.
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: It was a very like my scene, it was an imbu it.
- 30:15SPEAKER_00: I didn't hold back.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: I didn't make it like a fluff scene.
- 31:13SPEAKER_00: I made it, it was with my um partner, and um it there was a little bit of humor, you know, a little bit of fun, a little bit of a chance.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: You know, um, a little bit of seriousness, um, a little bit of intimacy, you know, which anytime that you choose to be intimate in front of a group of people on stage is very um you're being completely transparent at that moment.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: You're very you're very raw.
- 31:45SPEAKER_00: And uh and you know, our scene ended with him kneeling on stage in front of everybody in front of me, and us having a very intimate moment in front of everybody.
- 31:58SPEAKER_00: And you know, the feedback during the performance was amazing.
- 32:05SPEAKER_00: You know, they're they're right there in it with you.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: And it's the afterward, you know, they they come up and they're sharing with you that you know how beautiful it was.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: You know, there were actual it's I'm still processing it all, but you know, there were people crying because they they felt it, like they felt the energy, they felt the connection, you know, they were they were on that ride with us, and it's you know, sometimes I take for granted what I do, the life that I live.
- 32:38SPEAKER_00: You know, my partner and I were looking at each other afterward, going, whose life is this?
- 32:43SPEAKER_00: Like who does this?
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: This is crazy.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: Like, who does this?
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: What did you guys do on Saturday?
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: Well, we did this, you know, it's and and to be able to share with people what we do and share the connection that we have uh with people who use their own craft to create that.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: It was it was very the feedback that we got was very humbling.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: It was very it was very thoughtful, it was very caring, and it it it meant a lot.
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: It meant a lot that they that they were there with us for that.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: Yeah, when you get to share what you're passionate about, it's almost like when people start a podcast and talk about this stuff out there, put it out in the public.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it um so um evidently we are invited back next year.
- 33:37SPEAKER_00: Um so I'll be at the conference next year sitting on panels again and doing some education and maybe another performance.
- 33:44SPEAKER_00: We don't know.
- 33:45SPEAKER_00: Maybe we'll see.
- 33:46SPEAKER_02: I'm looking forward to seeing all that because I got to volunteer on Saturday.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: You were there.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, and I left a surprise for you.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: What?
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I didn't see it.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: I know that's because I'm about to tell you.
- 33:57SPEAKER_02: Oh gosh.
- 33:57SPEAKER_00: So Saturday, what you didn't know is Saturday I had um a couple of ladies come up because we had a table in the authors area for our venue, right?
- 34:09SPEAKER_00: And everything.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: And um they were at Shameless the year before when I had worked at Shameless, right?
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: And they were hoping to meet you because they've been listening to our podcast since I told them about it last year.
- 34:27SPEAKER_00: And they were like, So is he here?
- 34:31SPEAKER_00: And I was like, hee-hoo.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: And they were like, from the podcast, the one with all the different names.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: We were hoping he'd be here with you.
- 34:38SPEAKER_00: Is he here with you?
- 34:39SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, You just missed, you had just left.
- 34:42SPEAKER_02: Are you serious?
- 34:43SPEAKER_00: Yes, you had already left, but you had people there that have been listening, so shout out, high listeners.
- 34:49SPEAKER_00: Hello, that um have been listening to us for at least a year now.
- 34:53SPEAKER_00: Okay, and they were hoping that they were gonna get to meet you.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: Oh, well, hello.
- 34:57SPEAKER_02: Hopefully they they hear this and realize Mango Boogies is here for you.
- 35:02SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, that's interesting.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: So, how about that?
- 35:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I was there for like five hours.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was after you left.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's a shame.
- 35:09SPEAKER_00: It was after you left.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, that's interesting.
- 35:13SPEAKER_02: Um, hello.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: I I I too will softly read and um give my opinion on stuff.
- 35:19SPEAKER_02: These these were probably readers and stuff, so they were.
- 35:21SPEAKER_02: They were readers, maybe, yeah.
- 35:23SPEAKER_02: Um kind of moonlighting as a uh audio, audio audiobook thing person, so that'd be nice.
- 35:31SPEAKER_02: Um interesting.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: So I thought I'd surprise you with that.
- 35:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah, thank you.
- 35:34SPEAKER_02: That was that was very interesting.
- 35:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I would have I would have been out there and take some pictures or something.
- 35:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 35:39SPEAKER_02: I appreciate that.
- 35:40SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's good to get out there.
- 35:41SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, you know, we get some more um pickup on the Instagram.
- 35:45SPEAKER_02: You guys subscribe to the Instagram, let us know what you think.
- 35:48SPEAKER_02: We'll be out there responding and all that there.
- 35:51SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, I would I would have been there.
- 35:53SPEAKER_02: I was at the um the uh registration desk for a good three, four hours or something like that.
- 35:58SPEAKER_02: Uh got my times mixed up, so I showed up a little later, so I stayed a little bit later.
- 36:02SPEAKER_02: Everybody was very uh nice to me, all the other volunteers and all the people that were coming up.
- 36:07SPEAKER_02: So I was just checking people in that came in um on Saturday.
- 36:10SPEAKER_02: I don't know, I don't I didn't get any information, so I don't know if they were like did they they just did Saturday or something?
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: But most people that were checking in Saturday were the one day.
- 36:18SPEAKER_00: The one day people, yeah.
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: Also, they were nice enough to uh the organizers I'm talking about were nice to give Florida resident people free passes to uh the Saturday stuff.
- 36:29SPEAKER_02: I think it was just for the book signing.
- 36:31SPEAKER_02: I don't think it was just for the book signing, yeah.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: It wasn't for the after party.
- 36:34SPEAKER_02: Uh everybody was very cute when they came in because so that's you know, smut lovers is mostly the female demographic, but there were some some husbands and stuff like that.
- 36:45SPEAKER_02: They were following their wives along, and then you know, there's the couple of people, the people that were like fans of the books.
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: I saw some of their gifts and stuff, and they had the name of the person that's like, Oh, that's adorable.
- 36:55SPEAKER_02: They have some flowers and bears and stuff.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: These readers are serious.
- 36:58SPEAKER_00: They came in with grids that they had made up of exactly where their favorite authors were gonna be, so they could go straight to them first.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, they're not I gave out a lot of maps.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: I didn't see that.
- 37:09SPEAKER_00: They came in with um like the rolly carts so that they didn't have to carry their books because they they got so much.
- 37:15SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, the Oh yes, I saw somebody had like 30 books with them in their car.
- 37:18SPEAKER_00: They were they were very um educated on exactly what they were looking for and very prepared.
- 37:24SPEAKER_00: It's it's fun to watch.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: It's a it's a lot, it's great.
- 37:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was uh it was a good room seeing seeing all that stuff because usually when I'm in in that kind of room, it's uh like a convention, so it's like a lot of artists and stuff of like comic books and everything like that.
- 37:38SPEAKER_00: So it was just well, they had a tattoo artist doing flash tattoos that you had to do an appointment for.
- 37:43SPEAKER_00: They had cover models that were posing for pictures.
- 37:47SPEAKER_00: Um it they had vendors that were selling items, they had chainmail vendor.
- 37:52SPEAKER_00: Um, it was it's it wasn't just books, it was everything that supports the books as well.
- 37:58SPEAKER_02: Yes, so make it very clear, it's not just books, it's education, tattoos, pictures with models, other vendor stuff, um, a lot of stuff going on.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, there was a raffle.
- 38:11SPEAKER_00: There were different there was different baskets that you could win that you could do a raffle for.
- 38:16SPEAKER_00: Um, like I said, it it was a lot of fun.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: A lot, a lot of fun.
- 38:21SPEAKER_00: The vibe was just amazing all weekend.
- 38:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was um good place, good place to be.
- 38:27SPEAKER_00: So, yeah, Smoot Lovers 2024.
- 38:29SPEAKER_02: It's also good answering the questions of the people that were looking for the rental car return.
- 38:33SPEAKER_02: It's like, no, that's that's around the corner, it's not the rental car place.
- 38:37SPEAKER_02: So, yeah, hopefully I'll be able to get uh get you all some first hand information from the volunteer side.
- 38:42SPEAKER_02: Uh, I got a very nice shirt out of it, so it was very nice, good, good official thing.
- 38:47SPEAKER_02: Um, and very well organized from the point that I saw.
- 38:51SPEAKER_02: Uh, so would have liked to have stayed for the after party.
- 38:57SPEAKER_02: Gotta do that next time.
- 38:58SPEAKER_02: And then you had the breakfast.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: That was pretty much how to finish it off.
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: But look forward to next year.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: Tickets are on sale.
- 39:05SPEAKER_02: I will put the link in the description.
- 39:08SPEAKER_02: It is September 18th to the 22nd, 2024.
- 39:13SPEAKER_02: Orlando, different place, apparently.
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: I gotta see where that is this time so I know where to go.
- 39:19SPEAKER_02: Um, and then of course, they always need volunteers.
- 39:23SPEAKER_02: Uh, even though I was there, um, some people got pulled from different places that didn't really know what was going on because they um didn't have volunteers.
- 39:30SPEAKER_02: I will say that if you want to volunteer, it is very um very uh structured volunteer schedule.
- 39:38SPEAKER_02: I don't even know how to say that.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: Um, but uh yeah, they need help.
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: So go go and uh try to volunteer.
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: And then you'll see me for those people that are listening.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: You'll you'll see me out there volunteering.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: They'll get to meet you.
- 39:53SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 39:54SPEAKER_02: So let's see.
- 39:55SPEAKER_02: This one is a little bit short.
- 39:57SPEAKER_02: Um, let's see.
- 39:58SPEAKER_02: Anything else you want to talk about from the the smut lovers?
- 40:01SPEAKER_00: No, um, just go out there.
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: Um, I know Amazon has a uh stuff your Kindle Day a couple days, a couple times a year, and a lot of these authors are on that, so you can get introduced to them so you can buy their other books.
- 40:15SPEAKER_00: Um I know that there are um kind of like Kindle and um Goodreads and stuff, there are smut book platforms that you can find the authors on.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: Um just smut books.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, just smut books.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: Uh they have you can look by genre, you can book like you can look for whatever you are interested in.
- 40:40SPEAKER_00: There was an author there that had an entire series, a smut book series with um ogres.
- 40:47SPEAKER_00: I know it was so cool, it was so interesting.
- 40:51SPEAKER_00: Um, and and not all of their books have to be like actual books, a lot of them are digital, and so they have QR codes where you can download um, they call them novellas, where like the little short mini novels.
- 41:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so if you don't like reading, like having to sit and read a book, you can read these in like an hour, less than two hours.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: You can read a novella.
- 41:12SPEAKER_02: Almost like a Harlequin.
- 41:13SPEAKER_00: Almost like a Harlequin, yeah, exactly.
- 41:15SPEAKER_00: But they call them novellas now.
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: And uh so you can you can look at those digitally.
- 41:21SPEAKER_00: Uh so yeah, they like I said, these authors put so much time and effort into their craft.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: And for a lot of them, this is not uh what their main source of of income is.
- 41:33SPEAKER_00: This isn't what they do, this is their their passion, and so they self-publish and they do their own covers and their own art and they do their own marketing, and so any way that you can support them is just appreciated and and loved, and they so connect with their readers, and you can follow them on most authors have social media that you can follow them on, and it's it's a whole little subcommunity that uh it's like once you're in, you're in.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 42:11SPEAKER_02: I was trying to see if there's a uh place to go to see all the authors there and see if you would what uh stuff that you can buy from them.
- 42:18SPEAKER_00: Um maybe from this year you can look at the authors, like who's uh gonna be there?
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure.
- 42:26SPEAKER_00: Attendees.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: No, that's the that's the readers, probably.
- 42:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's source.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: That's completely different.
- 42:33SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 42:34SPEAKER_02: I knew I saw a uh presenter.
- 42:36SPEAKER_02: If the authors were presenting, I know I saw a list of those people on there.
- 42:40SPEAKER_02: That's definitely on there.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: Um, I'm pretty sure they have it somewhere on the website.
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: But yeah, go and support the authors of these books, like Rue was saying, that this is not their primary source of income.
- 42:50SPEAKER_02: Some of us have, you know, do this stuff on the side.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: This is not our main job.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: So it's passion.
- 42:56SPEAKER_02: You gotta you gotta fund the stuff where you can.
- 42:58SPEAKER_02: If you if you are able, you know, don't no pressure, you know, just gotta fund it where you can.
- 43:02SPEAKER_02: Um, we should set up a buy me a coffee thing, that website.
- 43:07SPEAKER_02: You have no idea what I'm talking about.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: I have no idea what you're talking about.
- 43:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's literally called buy me coffee or something.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: It's just that kind of it's a tip enough to buy a coffee or a drink or something like that.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: Um, and then you can like tip people.
- 43:19SPEAKER_02: Might have to set that up.
- 43:20SPEAKER_02: So, um, because we want to get to more conventions.
- 43:24SPEAKER_02: Uh oh, that's what we talk about.
- 43:25SPEAKER_02: The rest of the year.
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: Are you going anywhere?
- 43:27SPEAKER_02: You're doing anything for the rest of the year?
- 43:28SPEAKER_00: Um, I've applied to teach at some conventions, but those aren't until next year.
- 43:32SPEAKER_00: So the rest of the year, I'm just local.
- 43:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: I know FPE's coming up.
- 43:38SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not going to FPE.
- 43:39SPEAKER_00: I wanted to go there.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: Have you ever been there then?
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: No.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: No.
- 43:42SPEAKER_00: That's one I haven't been to yet.
- 43:43SPEAKER_02: Uh I gotta go.
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: I gotta go this year.
- 43:46SPEAKER_02: Somebody's saving his nickels and his pennies, so he can't do anything.
- 43:49SPEAKER_02: I'm not, I'm not gonna be able to do anything for the rest of the year either.
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, someone will join me for the first time at the little convention at the end of January.
- 44:00unknown: Podfest.
- 44:01SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, Podfest.
- 44:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we gotta go representation.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, across the street from SeaWorld.
- 44:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I'm volunteering.
- 44:08SPEAKER_02: So hopefully I can run some panels.
- 44:10SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 44:10SPEAKER_02: I want to run the uh the adult taboo panel.
- 44:12SPEAKER_02: They have a whole taboo track.
- 44:14SPEAKER_00: Run as in like facilitate it?
- 44:15SPEAKER_02: Get people in, get people out.
- 44:17SPEAKER_02: Introduce the panel people.
- 44:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'd love to sit on the panels.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, there is a um, there's there's a taboo.
- 44:23SPEAKER_00: So it's kind of they just kind of so that's what I would fall under.
- 44:27SPEAKER_00: I would fall under taboo.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: We're all in there.
- 44:29SPEAKER_02: So they have the Swiggers podcast, and they have the podcast.
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: Oh God, I I need your help.
- 44:36SPEAKER_02: I need that that I need to be able to say stuff and not seem judgy.
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: I'm not judgy, but there's people that they interview, they're not part of the thing, but they interview people that do taboo stuff, and it's like they just throw all those people in a panel.
- 44:50SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's not by genre or by category.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: No, we're we're all in the we're all just considered taboo.
- 44:55SPEAKER_02: Taboo, yeah, taboo podcaster.
- 44:57SPEAKER_02: So we need to I mean we need to make a bigger name for a lot of it.
- 45:02SPEAKER_00: I guess I am.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: You just said you did an impact scene in front of people.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: I just did an impact performance in front of people.
- 45:07SPEAKER_00: I don't think even a lot a couple hundred people.
- 45:08SPEAKER_02: I just say um a lot of the taboo people ain't doing it, so we're just asking questions, but yeah, not judging, but not judging, yeah.
- 45:15SPEAKER_00: You're sounding judgy.
- 45:16SPEAKER_01: No, I know trying to break it out and stretching it out.
- 45:21SPEAKER_02: It's just yeah, the egos.
- 45:24SPEAKER_02: I interviewed this person.
- 45:25SPEAKER_02: I'm like, okay, I gotta cut that out.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: I gotta cut that out.
- 45:28SPEAKER_02: Um, anyways, so yeah, I am going to volunteer and then hopefully I can weasel my way in there, um, and then start helping consult and actually be like one of the people to um get my fingers in there because it's a lot of uh good people, I will say, go to the podfest.
- 45:48SPEAKER_02: It's a lot of different information, a lot of different podfest pod podcasters out there of all different types.
- 45:55SPEAKER_02: Um, and then because it's a it's a little bit smaller of a convention, so you don't see like a lot of the big names, but you see a lot of um people that started from like their garage or their basement, and then they went out and you know they got like sponsorships and partnerships of all different types, and then they're willing to share that knowledge, like, hey, this is how I blew my stuff up.
- 46:16SPEAKER_02: So I like it because it's a small community of people, but they're all very nice and they um they um take over that hotel all over there, and there's a lot of good classes for people that like to do podcasting, and it's good for us because we are just starting.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: Um, everybody's uh the people I talk to are like, oh, we gotta been doing it for a year.
- 46:35SPEAKER_02: That's pretty good.
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: Because uh, I don't know if the people know the the camsters know that um podcasts that go for more than like twenty episodes is eighty percent of them fail.
- 46:46SPEAKER_02: So we beat it, Mark.
- 46:47SPEAKER_00: We've made it.
- 46:48SPEAKER_02: We we've made it.
- 46:50SPEAKER_02: We're still here.
- 46:51SPEAKER_00: We're still here, we still have listeners.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:54SPEAKER_02: Please come back.
- 46:55SPEAKER_02: We we we drop you we dropped y'all.
- 46:57SPEAKER_02: I hope we you know we're still here.
- 46:58SPEAKER_02: So appreciate the y'all that are still downloading and streaming this stuff, but um Um, I see I see the numbers.
- 47:04SPEAKER_02: We got we gotta build them back up.
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: We'll do that.
- 47:06SPEAKER_02: We gotta get we gotta get more advertisement out there.
- 47:09SPEAKER_02: Got more advertisement.
- 47:10SPEAKER_02: Speaking of business cards, yeah, we gotta we gotta get on the business card game.
- 47:13SPEAKER_02: But that's more behind the curtain type stuff.
- 47:15SPEAKER_02: But just know we'll still be here doing the stuff, and then we're gonna go out and do the stuff and tell y'all about it.
- 47:21SPEAKER_02: Um we got some soft soft readers.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: We're we'll do that too.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: Soft readings, soft readings, sensitivity.
- 47:29SPEAKER_02: Sensitivity readings.
- 47:30SPEAKER_02: I knew it started with an S.
- 47:31SPEAKER_02: Consulting in general.
- 47:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, I would love to do that.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: That'd be great.
- 47:35SPEAKER_02: Uh, consulting in general, definitely something I like talking if y'all haven't noticed.
- 47:39SPEAKER_02: So I will talk about all this stuff.
- 47:41SPEAKER_00: You don't say yeah, exactly.
- 47:42SPEAKER_02: Shocker.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 47:44SPEAKER_02: All right, so a little bit shorter episode, but we made it over the 30-minute mark.
- 47:47SPEAKER_02: We're getting to the 45-minute mark.
- 47:49SPEAKER_02: Um, not too much to say.
- 47:51SPEAKER_02: No, it was quick, clean, and pretty smooth for the most part.
- 47:55SPEAKER_02: I don't know what happened with you know, that there was any bugs, it didn't seem like it.
- 47:59SPEAKER_00: No, uh-uh.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: Actually, it didn't.
- 48:01SPEAKER_00: It was it was drama-free.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: It was amazing.
- 48:04SPEAKER_00: Nothing but love.
- 48:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, no big issues.
- 48:07SPEAKER_02: Please volunteer.
- 48:08SPEAKER_02: I'm not even really part of the thing.
- 48:09SPEAKER_02: I just volunteered and I like the people.
- 48:10SPEAKER_02: Um, come come volunteer if you're in the Orlando area and um uh want to come out.
- 48:16SPEAKER_02: It's I will say it's very good for the newbies.
- 48:18SPEAKER_02: There were some people that didn't know what they were doing there, and they were like very confused, but it was like um definitely if it's your first time, all the panels were uh very beginner focused.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 48:29SPEAKER_02: Uh, because you know, oh, oh, oh, that's what I wanted to say.
- 48:33SPEAKER_02: There were a couple people that came in and they're so adorable.
- 48:35SPEAKER_02: They were so nervous to come in.
- 48:38SPEAKER_02: There was one lady, she waited until like two hours before the thing opened because she's got she's like I was hiding in my hotel room and I couldn't come down.
- 48:47SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, oh my gosh, that's so cute.
- 48:49SPEAKER_02: But you made it.
- 48:50SPEAKER_02: She's like, you don't know how much I appreciate you saying that because it is very scary.
- 48:53SPEAKER_00: I was like, well, and I will say that you know the hotel didn't do us any favors.
- 48:59SPEAKER_00: You know, I missed this part.
- 49:01SPEAKER_00: So we are, you know, Smet Lovers Convention, a book, Smet Lovers book convention.
- 49:06SPEAKER_00: Very open about who we are, very open about what we're doing.
- 49:10SPEAKER_00: And right across the hall from us, they had a um Christian marriage retreat.
- 49:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, is that what that was?
- 49:17SPEAKER_01: Oh god.
- 49:20SPEAKER_00: So that was that was we were intertwined with that.
- 49:24SPEAKER_00: Um, so that was interesting.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: And then you had to get walk through um the um it's called the Yellow Ribbon Program, and it's a military um it's a military program that is designed for um reunification uh and reintegration from deployment for families in the military.
- 49:49SPEAKER_00: And um it was a very it was a very large event.
- 49:52SPEAKER_00: It's um something I hold dear in my heart.
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: However, it is also a family-oriented event, and you couldn't get to our part of the uh convention center without walking through their part of the convention center.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: So that was a little difficult.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: You have to get a walk through.
- 50:09SPEAKER_00: No, you don't have to walk through, but that's just how the hallways were, you know, to get from like the main part of the hotel.
- 50:15SPEAKER_00: And and so like everybody was super respectful, everybody was um very understanding, you know, but it it caused her a little bit of confusion, you know.
- 50:25SPEAKER_00: Um you know, because some of our some of our gear and shirts are a little cheeky.
- 50:31SPEAKER_00: You know, there's there's still there's uh literally there's they're still um you know, for public consumption, you know, you can go out in public and and everything everybody wore, it just just a little cheeky, you know.
- 50:44SPEAKER_00: So um but yeah, right across from the room.
- 50:48SPEAKER_02: I did not know that.
- 50:49SPEAKER_02: See, I parked in the garage and the convention was near the garage entrance, so you didn't have to go very far.
- 50:54SPEAKER_00: But everybody who stayed at the hotel had to walk through these.
- 50:57SPEAKER_00: Oh jeez.
- 50:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so but that's okay.
- 50:59SPEAKER_00: It all worked out great.
- 51:01SPEAKER_00: Um, nobody no nobody got um there wasn't any negative experiences in person or anything like that.
- 51:09SPEAKER_00: It's all logistics in the background, but that's good stuff.
- 51:13SPEAKER_00: It's uh it was still all it was handled with grace.
- 51:15SPEAKER_00: The the coordinator, uh Nikki did uh such an amazing job um hosting everything and running everything and being available for everybody and and um mitigating so much of what happened behind the scenes, and the authors and the readers had no idea, um, which is exactly how it was supposed to have been.
- 51:34SPEAKER_00: They everybody just thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and as far as anybody knew, everything went exactly how it was supposed to.
- 51:42SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, hats off to Nikki for an amazing event and all of the people that support her and helped her along the way.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: Um and yeah, we're just we're again, I can't say enough that we're looking forward to next year.
- 51:56SPEAKER_02: So yeah, so yeah, it's definitely, I will say, my first time there.
- 52:00SPEAKER_02: It it well it's the first one, but anyways, uh it's uh very much a beginner space, so you don't uh for authors and readers.
- 52:09SPEAKER_02: Well, also for the kinky-minded folks as well, it's um very much low-key because uh especially I didn't know this until I started looking up the res the volunteer forms that there were gonna be so many panels and classes.
- 52:22SPEAKER_02: So it's good for beginner people because it's not overly you can tell that most of the people are like readers getting into it newer, so it's not as intimidating as like a kink convention because there's not every lot of people that are like veterans and they got all their stuff like people were wearing stuff, but it wasn't over the top, like I said, very much a vanilla space and people walking through vanilla areas to get to the convention.
- 52:44SPEAKER_02: Um, but yeah, for especially for the the person that I talked to that was she was so scared to come up.
- 52:49SPEAKER_02: She was so no, I get that.
- 52:50SPEAKER_02: I mean, well, because it was so adorable.
- 52:52SPEAKER_00: The books are a little taboo.
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, well, I think it was her, it was um um just being in a space with a bunch of people.
- 52:58SPEAKER_00: Well, that too.
- 52:59SPEAKER_00: A lot of people are still adjusting to that as well.
- 53:01SPEAKER_02: So yeah, so she built up the courage and came down out of her room.
- 53:04SPEAKER_02: So I was like very proud of you.
- 53:06SPEAKER_02: So yeah, I was like, you you did it though.
- 53:07SPEAKER_02: That's the only difference between everybody else, and you know, everybody's scared, but they, you know, you did it.
- 53:12SPEAKER_00: You're here.
- 53:12SPEAKER_02: She, you know, appreciated somebody saying something.
- 53:14SPEAKER_02: So I hope I hope she had fun.
- 53:16SPEAKER_02: She I hope she got in there and just kind of like went crazy because yeah, she looked excited, but she was very nervous.
- 53:20SPEAKER_02: So definitely in beginner space.
- 53:22SPEAKER_02: So if you want to check it out and you're new to kink, um, so that's especially why we're involved with that, is you know, a good place to go to learn about the stuff and not be just thrown into the deep end.
- 53:33SPEAKER_02: But for now, this is the campfire that's kinky.
- 53:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you're never gonna say that, are you?
- 53:40SPEAKER_00: No, you know this is part of the thing, yeah.
- 53:43SPEAKER_00: Around the kinky campfire.
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: And who are you?
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: And this is true.
- 53:47SPEAKER_01: I'm Mango Boogies.
- 53:50SPEAKER_01: I knew you like that one, aka Julius.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: For the for the fans out there, come see me.
- 53:54SPEAKER_02: I gotta put my name on the thing now instead of using my legal name.
- 53:56SPEAKER_02: I gotta I gotta put that official name.
- 53:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, Mango Boogies.
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna put that on there.
- 54:02SPEAKER_02: Catch us next time.
- 54:04SPEAKER_02: We have new episodes every second and fourth Thursdays of the month.
- 54:09SPEAKER_02: So we'll we'll we'll talk to you then.
- 54:11SPEAKER_02: Hopefully, you get some pillow fort sessions in there.
- 54:14SPEAKER_02: Not just me and some other somebody else over there.
- 54:16SPEAKER_02: They give a little monologue, you know, there.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I can't.
- 54:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a little practice and everything like that.
- 54:20SPEAKER_02: I gotta I gotta start doing it again too.
- 54:21SPEAKER_02: I didn't do it for September.
- 54:23SPEAKER_02: I'm sure y'all are very sad about not hearing my voice an extra day, but it's uh it's uh the reason.
- 54:29SPEAKER_02: Oh, I don't even say why I have mango boogies.
- 54:31SPEAKER_02: Allergies are getting to me.
- 54:32SPEAKER_02: This weather is getting to me, so I can barely barely talk.
- 54:35SPEAKER_02: So I'm pretty sure it started with the last pillow fort.
- 54:38SPEAKER_02: Like my my voice was all it started back then, so I was like, okay, I gotta wait for this to stop and then I stop coughing.
- 54:44SPEAKER_02: It's getting better because now it's cold.
- 54:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's actually cold, 81 degrees is cold.
- 54:48SPEAKER_02: Um, I don't care what everybody says.
- 54:50SPEAKER_02: Uh so it's it's doing a little better.
- 54:51SPEAKER_02: So I have mango boogies because I because I eat fruit and I cough up and it goes.
- 54:55SPEAKER_00: That's so nice.
- 54:56SPEAKER_00: Okay, let's fruit flavor snot.
- 54:59SPEAKER_00: These poor people out of there make it.
- 55:03SPEAKER_02: We'll see you next time.
- 55:05SPEAKER_00: Goodbye.
- 55:06SPEAKER_01: Hello.
