- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: the beautiful backgrounds.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: The beautiful man.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, hello.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: Hello.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: Is that Columbia?
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, buddy?
- 0:45[SPEAKER_02]: That wasn't me.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't me.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: That was talk about.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_01]: What did all, what did introduction?
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, good.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, good.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: We got it, man.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: Check-ins, client check-ins.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to take you to tell you this story about, I mean, this would have been 2014, 15, so we're in there.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: 2015, no, definitely 2016.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: 2016, business was doing great.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: We have a tax lady that kind of tells me, you know, towards the end of the year, you need to get some write-offs if, unless you want to pay taxes.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, well, what can we do?
- 1:18[SPEAKER_01]: What equipment can we buy in the gym?
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: to offset some of those gains that we were having a great year, and one of the things was a song like an infrared sauna, and the other one was an embodied.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: So in body, we bought at the same time, kind of like in a December time period to kind of do some write-offs and stuff.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: but it was very easy.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_01]: I think the the son of might have been a stretch because we were this red light technology had been just coming out or infrared and we were like cool, maybe our clients will like it.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: That completely failed and we sold that off, but the embodied we've had and we've used consistently day in day out, weekend, week out.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: And the justification for spending a lot of money on an in-body or a dexist, or whatever.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see other one.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_01]: Geez, evil, evil, and there's even two other ones.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, a body composition analysis tool is because the promise that we made to the market into our customers is we're going to help you lose body fat, game muscle, lose weight, get better shape, all of those things will as our promise.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: And if we were going to promise that,
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: to our clients by having the most accurate device.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_01]: To do that at the time, it's still, I believe, is in body, but it's starting to change.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: We've had a couple of good calls and conversations with some of our other partners and things and it becomes Comes a point in time where you start to look back and you look at the lifestyle client that we really talk about and we enjoy having in here and the transformational client the transformational client
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: was and still is for a lot of gems is the main focus.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: I want to I want to help people lose weight.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: I want to help people get on stage.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: I want to help people, you know, burn body fat game muscle, lean out, whatever you want to call it is the promise.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: And that that attracts a style of person that is looking for composition changes and results in a shorter amount of period of time is possible for being honest.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_01]: So it's why I take a long time and you can do a short time.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: And but it also is the transactional client that once they do get the result they're looking for most of the time not every time most of the time they move on.
- 3:40[SPEAKER_01]: And you look at the clientele that we love that we love serving here.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: They're not so concerned about the scale and they're not so concerned about.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: how quick or what's going on.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: They have this romantic idea of being in great shape, but they don't really want it because to do it, they would need to try a lot harder.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: It had to get really strict on some things.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be pretty honest with themselves about the wine and the food and all the things outside of the gym.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so there came a point in time and just recently that we're like, hey,
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: what if we don't stand behind any promises of weight loss but we do stand behind something like movement quality or something that we do have pretty good control over because we can stretch and manipulate and corrective movements and how we train and
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Those are things that we can promise.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: The question now becomes, does it make sense to put somebody on a scale every 30 days, six weeks or whatever?
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: And not to mention, and you would know this more than me, how often are they getting off of that scale with a huge smile on their face?
- 4:49[SPEAKER_01]: I did it.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: And how does that affect their long-term, I guess, retention of those clients?
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: So like, what are your thoughts?
- 4:57[SPEAKER_02]: Oh man, okay, there's so many different thoughts.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, pieces to this, I wanna make sure we try to cover as many as possible.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: But if you think about the experience that you are trying to create in your gym,
- 5:17[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what do we want?
- 5:19[SPEAKER_02]: We want it to be like their third place.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_02]: They're home away from home.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_02]: We want it to be their social hangout.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_02]: They come in high five smiles.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_02]: They sweat a little bit.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_02]: They get some adorphans flowing.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_02]: They leave feeling inspired and really, really good.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_02]: And so everything that we do, it by design is to create that.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_02]: But then, we bring them in and I don't care if they've gotten good results or not.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: You bring them in, you put them on the scale no matter what they're going to be disappointed.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: it's very interesting.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: You think about like the psychology that's been just pounded into especially females minds over the course of the last whatever 50 years, it's all about the weight.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_02]: So you could bring a female client and they have an a great experience with you and they get on the scale.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: They could have gained five pounds of muscle, they could have lost five pounds of fat and they lost no weight into them.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's like devastating.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_02]: I've been working so hard.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: And now you're creating this friction point in your gym.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: where it's like now I have to try to educate that client about why this the weight number didn't move.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_02]: And you're up against the last 50 years of it being baked into their head that they should weigh X amount when they're not even realistic.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: And meanwhile, that's the holy grail to lose body fat and game muscle simultaneously.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: That's like, we did it, right?
- 7:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's like a huge success for the gym and for the coaches that I've been working with that client.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: But yet, like you're saying, they don't see it that way.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: And we were there celebrating it.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're like, they're like, I don't want to be here because like you think that's what you're doing.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not even happy with the results.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: When, and they think you're just trying to, you're just trying to, you're just trying to sugarcoat it.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: So that's like the best case scenario is like, hey, man, we've got somebody incredible results.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: Well, what happens if you got them piss poor results, right?
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: Or it not you, but like, they didn't eat right.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: They didn't follow the plan.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: They're stressed out.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_02]: They're not sleeping.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_02]: They're going through menopause.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_02]: They're not losing weight.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_02]: And everything that they do inside the gym,
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: is phenomenal.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: They're enjoying themselves and you're creating these checkpoints in the business to create a negative experience.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: In friction and a loss of status.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_01]: in the funniest thing, not the funny, the most ironic thing is they could have lost the muscle mass, which is the worst thing that could happen, and their weight goes down, and they're happy.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: Is it that completely backwards?
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: And what do you do is the person doing the check-in with them?
- 8:39[SPEAKER_02]: You try to make them feel better about it, and so if you try to make them feel better about
- 8:47[SPEAKER_02]: One, you're kind of compromising.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_02]: You're wondering like, well, what's the alternative?
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: Do I just like blame them for not getting the result?
- 8:57[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever you do is wrong.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: No, you can't win.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's the point that I'm trying to make here is like, if you put it on them and like, hey, what do you think of your results?
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you can't win because they didn't get the results.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_02]: If you try to sugarcoat it and ease the blow of like, yeah, you didn't get good results.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Now they're going to read right through that.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_02]: You know, again, it's just there's no real upside.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: with the majority, with the masses.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and in the most ironic thing is the result that we decided we wanted to be in charge of the weight loss, the fat loss result for the client, the promise.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: was the one we have the least control of, but yet we've volunteered to be that place where people are going to come in.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go lose weight in their head weight.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: We want body fat loss, but weight.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then they step on the scale and things aren't the way they want.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_01]: Or again, the holy grail happens and we gain some muscle mass and we lost some body fat in the
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: You just say five pounds of muscle, one pound or four pounds of fat loss.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Again, even better than just losing muscle mass, the effect of the act of the opposite.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: You've failed in their eyes, and it's just wild to, you know, you can't educate somebody enough because the psychology of the 50 years, like you said, yeah, if that scale doesn't go down, I didn't get results, even though they're close fit better, they look better.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: They feel better.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're stronger.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: All those things don't matter.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: to some clients.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: I would say.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: And so we decided that was what we wanted to be up against.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard enough, guys.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: It is hard enough to get clients because of the product we sell as far as delay gratification, soreness, discipline, and all that thing.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: We're not selling a shot.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: Some gyms are now.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: They're selling GOP ones or whatever.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's a whole
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: We're not selling that, we're selling hard work and dedication, and then we're going to promise the thing we can't ever even promise because all those variables outside of our control.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: Stress hormones time of life for for women like whatever it is.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: And what what are we doing?
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: What what?
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: How stupid are we?
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll tell you as a as an industry.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_02]: I'll tell you a little story.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_02]: This may be happening a year ago.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_02]: We had this client and she was super consistent here three four days a week
- 11:33[SPEAKER_02]: and, you know, strength was increasing, she's lifting more weights and I just, you know, when somebody's looking at themselves in the mirror every day, they don't necessarily notice a change and so I always make a conscious effort when I see somebody's body composition changing to point it out.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I went over to her, she's working out and I was just like, hey, I just want to let you know, like,
- 11:58[SPEAKER_02]: you are looking so amazing like I can tell like it looks great and I just just keep up the great work you know.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_02]: So then literally the next week she comes and she does an embodied and she gets terrible results like everything moved in the wrong direction and the next day she can't
- 12:27[SPEAKER_02]: And so I started thinking about that, and I'm like, okay, one, I set her up for disappointment.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: Because I told her how great she was doing and how good she was looking at the client.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: And she was, no, I wasn't lying to her, I noticed it.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, I'm looking at her go man over, you know, you're doing great.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: And so I'm kind of setting expectations of like, this is gonna be an amazing scan.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: So the blow then is even bigger when she looks at the numbers.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: And so I, you know, I get her cancellation request, I reach out to her, in your business, interacting with clients,
- 13:13[SPEAKER_02]: there are always black swans.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_02]: If you guys have read that book, never split the difference, talks about black swans.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: They're unknowns.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_02]: And so an interaction with a client that's, you know, it could be a positive, it could be a negative, but it's like something where the outcome is not good.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_02]: We have to go, well, what's the unknown?
- 13:31[SPEAKER_02]: What's the black swan here?
- 13:33[SPEAKER_02]: So I reach out to her and have a conversation, well, turns out
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: She moved further away from the gym.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: She is a teacher that, or a counselor at a school, where she deals with troubled children that want to commit suicide and all kinds of horrible things.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: She got in a car accident and rush hour traffic on the way here like a few days earlier.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: Like all these things start to stack up.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_02]: but she was consistent, she's sticking with and all of this, and then all of a sudden, this status drop of what the scale tells her.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it's the tipping point.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_02]: Is the tipping point?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_02]: Is this massive blow that we didn't know about the car accident and the stress and all these things that are going on?
- 14:18[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, yeah, she looks better, but the numbers are the,
- 14:26[SPEAKER_02]: They're the thing that she's placing the value on, and so it was like a negative validation of this isn't worth it anymore.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: And if we have that scale was a part.
- 14:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I guess the question the first thing comes to mind is how are she looking so good, but then her scale, her results were all bad.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like how did that happen?
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you think about like stress, not sleeping well.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_02]: She's around that time of life and like all these things were the way this scale is not going to tell the whole story.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_02]: And anybody that is a gym owner or, you know, works in the industry knows that, like you can see somebody and be like, man, you're making all these positive changes, and it looks great, and then this nap shot at time.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_02]: The snapshot in time.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_02]: It just doesn't tell the, just doesn't tell them.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, there's a scenario where like what's the point of even, you know what I mean?
- 15:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like if that scale wasn't in this equation or that check-in wasn't in the equation and she was just going to come in the next day, she may still even be here.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_01]: She would have got through all that kind of stresses in that little moment of time.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: And so again, guys, it becomes the question is, is they checking even worth it because
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: you know on paper and theory it makes sense like we're holding our clients accountable it gives us a chance to talk about things it helps us you know educate the muscle masters of fat loss but but yet we lose people right there on a spot because of it or or like you said the the thing that we said just before we went on the air or just now it's like
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: they're feeling good.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_01]: They're working out.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: They're identifying with so many that works out.
- 16:04[SPEAKER_01]: And in their head, that's good.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's all like that's where they want to be.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: Then we force them into this other room and sit them on that scale.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: And then now they're status, like you said, they were up high.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: Now they're status draws because they didn't get the results.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, maybe it was because they went to Cabo and they, you know, whatever went off the rails for a week or two.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it's all reflected here in the high
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: What is the point?
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: When you don't put that in the equation, they're happy as a clam and just let them be where they're at and don't force them into to check-ins, that they're happy, like, is it, is it our responsibility to force a result on a client?
- 16:50[SPEAKER_01]: when even they don't even want to get on that scale.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: Is it our responsibility?
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: That's an honest question because I know Jim owners that fight with their clients, we gotta get you in for a check in.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: We gotta get you on the scale, we gotta see where we're at.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: And the client knows deep down they're not gonna have a result.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: They just, they don't want to be on it.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: Is it our responsibility to force them onto that?
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_02]: So there's this term in our industry
- 17:20[SPEAKER_02]: And it's accountability.
- 17:21[SPEAKER_02]: I was going to say accountability, right?
- 17:23[SPEAKER_02]: By definition, nobody can hold anybody accountable, except the person themselves.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_02]: You have to hold yourself accountable.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, literally, if you look at the definition, I don't know a word for a word, but for anybody listening to this, think back about any time you've ever tried to hold somebody accountable, client accountable.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_02]: 99 out of 100 times, it doesn't work, and it creates a negative interaction with that client.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's a negative.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's the one time that one person is like, man, I need to this call, very rarely happens.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: Very rarely happens, and so, you know, for years, we've been like, well, we're going to hold you accountable.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_02]: That's not what the client actually wants.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: That's what they'll say they want.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_02]: but it creates friction.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_02]: It creates this problem, a negative interaction in the business.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_02]: So the question then becomes, well, how do we outsmart that?
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: There's all these issues in our business, all these things.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know who created the fitness industry or...
- 18:30[SPEAKER_02]: Who has morphed it into this monster that it's become?
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: But like you think about freezes, freezes don't exist in another industry.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: Who's ideal was that to be like, yeah, let's you freeze your membership?
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_02]: Think about like, okay, weight loss.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: Whose ideal was it to be like, okay, as an industry, we're going to be responsible for that?
- 18:51[SPEAKER_02]: So we have to outsmart these problems.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_02]: Can't go head to head with it.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: I came up with this term a couple years ago, we're not going to worry about holding our clients accountable.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_02]: What we're going to do is we're going to worry about getting and keeping momentum.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: How do we keep them engaged and create the experiences in the moments and time that maintain momentum so they don't fall off?
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: And so, you know, we say check-in.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely like a check-in is important with your clients, but a weigh-in probably is doing more harm than it is good.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: And so, one thing that we started doing several years ago is we came up with our lift cycle.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's our mesocycles, our whole global macro cycle.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_02]: And every, we do what we call an integration pace.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_02]: So we have high-perter-feast strength endurance and between each one of those phases, we have an integration phase.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: And every integration phase, we would schedule a check-in with our members.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's our integration week.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: We just kind of built it in.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: And it actually took our like check-ins from 10% of our members to like 60% of our members.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_02]: Skyrocketed.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: And it's phenomenal.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_02]: But
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: we were doing it with weigh-ins, but we would give them a reason why.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_02]: So this helped who would say, hey, great job in the hypertrophy phase.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: That was phenomenal.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: We want to see how you did.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_02]: Next week, we're heading into strength.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: Let's get a new baseline.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_02]: Let's set intentions for the strength phase.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: When are you coming in?
- 20:36[SPEAKER_02]: Let's, you know, do your, do your in-body scan.
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: So that helps systematize it.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_02]: But now we've been thinking about this.
- 20:46[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, guys, what are we gonna do here because we don't think that the check-ins are doing us any good?
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: So what we've decided is, hey, we're still gonna have the embody as an option for our clients.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_02]: If that's something that like, hey, I wanna do this, but we're not gonna encourage it.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: maybe once or twice a year like let's just get rid of that yeah and let's replace it with a kino tech scan and do like movement movement assessments because we have more control over that and if it isn't isn't like positive
- 21:22[SPEAKER_02]: Then we can very easily just say, Hey, I think you're tight sore from the workout like you're not even as correct.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: That quickly.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: We can correct it quickly and then we bring them back in and rescanum.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_02]: And it's not going to have as huge of a, you know, It's just it's not going to crush them if they have a bad.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: And to be honest with you, it brings up more conversation around.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: their lifestyle, sitting a lot, whatever, working at a desk, okay, let's let's up whatever, right, let's open the hips up, let's do some correctives out on the floor.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: And we can own that.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: We can say, yeah, that's not the we can do.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: We have stretched table in there.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we can own that that that journey that that product that promise, I should say, whereas the weight loss boy, that's a that's a tough
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: But I'd be honest with you, there's a lot easier ways to lose weight if weight is your goal.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's not our industry anymore.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's it's a peptides industry now.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 22:24[SPEAKER_01]: And that weight will be muscle muscle mass loss weight.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hearing about some things that preserve muscle mass down who knows, man.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: It's a wild west.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_01]: It comes with a peptide.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's on our industry.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: Our industry is going to be movement quality and strength.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think we, those are two things.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe even performance, if you're an athletic performance facility, speed, vert job, that kind of type of thing, agility.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe it should be weight loss.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if think it ever should have been weight loss.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: We just did it because that was what it always was.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's just so interesting you look back.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: What were we thinking?
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: We were promising something we couldn't promise and selling a product that was sub-perior, if that's even a word, to inferiority.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Inferior, thank you.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: Inferior, to diet alone.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: And the funny thing is, and I remember I'd go back to when I was doing sales consultations.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: And,
- 23:24[SPEAKER_01]: I told people, I go, you can lose weight without ever stepping into a gym.
- 23:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's what a diet is.
- 23:31[SPEAKER_01]: Mrs. Johnson, like that's literally the conversation I have.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: But you cannot build muscle mass without fitness.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: And if muscle mass would you want, we got your solution.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: But weight loss, and I would do this whole thing with the game muscle and lose fat and scale stays the same.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: But it's just going right over their head.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but the bottom line is people want to lose weight, period, not necessarily fat.
- 24:01[SPEAKER_01]: They want to lose weight, the scale.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and we're just up against it to try to educate the whole market.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's just, it's like impossible.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_02]: And, and if you think about our ideal clients, they want longevity.
- 24:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's, that's where they're at in their life is, you know, the 40 plus people who can actually afford your services long term want to build this into their lifestyle with the goal of, hey, when I'm 80, I'm going to be able to get up off the couch and do things and enjoy my life, they want longevity.
- 24:37[SPEAKER_02]: So, let's focus on that.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_01]: longevity.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: Let's focus on that.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: There you go, guys.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_01]: Well, listen,
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: we're rethinking everything and to be honest with you, Jim owners, listen to this, you should be rethinking everything all the time, including your policies, including your model, including your promises, your marketing, your staff, whatever it is, always rethink it.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_01]: just because it's been working or has worked or that's the way it's always been um... that's like the worst response like you always can be continuously improving and here we are taking an industry that's a hundred years old in fitness and we're just throwing we're deciding that that isn't our promise anymore weight loss isn't our promise
- 25:18[SPEAKER_01]: It shouldn't be your promise either, Jim owner, soliciting guys.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you need help, figure it all this out.
