- 3:12Hi, everybody.
- 3:13Welcome back to my channel.
- 3:15Welcome back to another episode on the libido lounge.
- 3:20I'm so thrilled to bring a women's embodiment and women's sexuality expert to our show today,
- 3:28and I want a first name before I bring her on that if you're listening to to this as a man
- 3:33and you're getting ready to turn it off, I really encourage you not to.
- 3:37Because what I have found in my work with couples is that the more we understand each
- 3:43other, the better sex life gets for everybody.
- 3:46So even though today's show is focused on the ladies, I really encourage you men to stay
- 3:52listening to this because you will learn things about how you can support the women in your
- 3:58life become more radiant, more embodied, more heart filled, and more sexually alive in your
- 4:04their bodies, which is something that benefits the entire couple.
- 4:07So without further ado, welcome to the show, Theresa.
- 4:11Good to have you here.
- 4:12Thank you for having me here.
- 4:14It's a joy.
- 4:16It is a
- 4:16joy to be with you.
- 4:17And and we're gonna get right into, you know, what is heart melting sex, why is this
- 4:22important after 40, And see where our conversation takes us.
- 4:25But just tell us your work is super unique and really supporting, you know, 40, but also in
- 4:31really supporting people with having a different type of sexual experience.
- 4:36Why is this important to you?
- 4:38How did you get here?
- 4:40Just growing, you know, being younger and not really feeling that sex was fulfilling me and
- 4:46feeling like sex is maybe for my partner, for my husband.
- 4:50And then I went all around the world, studied all sorts of things.
- 4:54And what I found out is actually when my sexuality is connected to my heart, then my
- 4:59body is so much more open and then I want to have sex rather than try to avoid it.
- 5:04And that's what I love teaching women that actually what if we start loving sex, you know,
- 5:09as much as men do?
- 5:10Because quite often in a couple I know there are some women who love sex.
- 5:14Yeah?
- 5:14But there are a majority, I think, of women that feel like, well, it's for him, all I need
- 5:20to do to keep peace in the family.
- 5:22And what I realize when we connect our sex to our heart, we start to love it, crave it, want
- 5:27it, and it benefits everyone.
- 5:30Okay.
- 5:31So I think you already got the men's attention because because absolutely.
- 5:34Right?
- 5:34I see that in my work as well that there's you know, it's stereotypical, but it's a very
- 5:39common stereotype that women are not as interested.
- 5:43And I think there is something huge to be said with exactly that, with maybe not being in
- 5:48their bodies, maybe not being in their hearts and just showing up to their sexual life from
- 5:53an obligatory standpoint.
- 5:55So then is that how you would describe then this this whole heart melting sex or how would
- 6:00you describe what heart melting sex is, which is part of what you teach?
- 6:06Well, for me, it's really an experience of when I'm with my partner.
- 6:10Yeah.
- 6:10We're, like, making love in the body.
- 6:13We're making more love in the world, and it's like my whole body starts to vibrate.
- 6:17So it's not just focused on my, right, my sex center.
- 6:20It's actually my whole body starts to feel a sense of love.
- 6:24So rather than just pleasure, rather than sexual excitement, but it's that sense of,
- 6:29like, expansion, sense of beauty, sense of something deeper, something bigger.
- 6:35And, yeah, it just feels then it feels like my heart starts to open.
- 6:39And sometimes I ask him, you know, can you penetrate my heart?
- 6:42And with that intention, just she's like, oh, yeah.
- 6:45And it becomes quite, yeah, an experience of aliveness, of fullness, and, yeah, making more
- 6:53laugh.
- 6:53That's what I feel like.
- 6:54We're making more laugh physically making more laugh in the world.
- 6:58So then would you describe heart melting sex?
- 7:01Is this, like, oriented to women?
- 7:03Because in many ways, women oftentimes and this is, again, not always true, but in many ways,
- 7:08women experience much more of a need for, like, an emotional connection with sex?
- 7:13Like, do you find that this helps with that emotional connection and that's part of what's
- 7:16opening women up more?
- 7:18Well, it has to start with emotional connection rather than sex and then emotional connection
- 7:23because that's more again, we're kind of talking in general.
- 7:27Yeah.
- 7:27But that's more how men go into emotional connection.
- 7:29They feel sexual connection, and then they feel more intimate, emotional connection.
- 7:33But what I also find is that after 40, male men's hormones change as well, and they
- 7:40actually start to want more emotional connection.
- 7:42So it's not just about women.
- 7:44I think when we're younger, they're more kind of mechanical and more that kind of pleasure
- 7:47oriented sex is good for men as well and for women.
- 7:51But when we get older, men start to crave the emotional connection as well.
- 7:55So we're kind of after 40, we're in a really good place for women and men because we start
- 8:00to match more where sex becomes more heart centered rather than just the physicality of
- 8:06it.
- 8:06And quite often for men as well, they might have, sexual dysfunctions, right, if there is
- 8:12no heart to heart connection.
- 8:14So then becomes more important as we age, which is such a good news for ladies.
- 8:18Okay.
- 8:19So that kind of finds a little bit about, like like, what heart opening sex is or heart
- 8:24melting sex and a little bit maybe even about who it's for.
- 8:27But can you give us, like, a like, an action step, especially for the ladies, but also for
- 8:31the men listening?
- 8:32Like, if people are interested in starting to have this more expansive sex, like, where do
- 8:37people even start?
- 8:39So that I'm, first of all, paying attention here, what kind of sex are you having now?
- 8:44Is there a heart in it?
- 8:46Yeah?
- 8:47Or is it just mechanical?
- 8:49Are you just trying to kind of do the actions?
- 8:53And then I really invite my foundational practice for women is breathing.
- 8:57We're breathing from our sex center to our heart, and we start connecting, yeah, our heart
- 9:02and then breathing out from our heart to our sex center.
- 9:06And when we start really connecting, you can put one hand on your heart, one hand on your
- 9:09belly, and really in your body start to feel that connection.
- 9:14Are these places connected for me, or is there a big separation?
- 9:18And as you start paying attention and you start breathing, yeah, breathing in through your sex
- 9:23center into your heart, breathing out from your heart into your sex center, noticing are there
- 9:28any blocks here?
- 9:30Does it flow?
- 9:31Can I even think about my sexuality connected to my heart?
- 9:35So really becoming curious about it.
- 9:37And then, of course, there are, like, a lot of things we might need to do to get to that
- 9:42connection because there could be past traumas.
- 9:44Right?
- 9:44There could be the disconnection from our heart.
- 9:46There could be guilt, shame that we need to go through before we can really start feeling that
- 9:51connection.
- 9:51But the breathing practice is quite powerful, just simply breathing from your sex center into
- 9:56your heart, breathing out from your heart down into your sex center.
- 9:59I don't know.
- 10:00Like, that's a very big question.
- 10:02Yeah.
- 10:02Oh, yeah.
- 10:03Oh, yeah.
- 10:03And and and, well, in thinking about that too, like, I'm curious from, like, that initial
- 10:07action step for people because I'm I'm, like, very into, like, let's take action, you know.
- 10:12And and in that initial action step, are you generally recommending people that do that
- 10:17during, like, during sexual intimacy, or is that, in your experience, like, a private
- 10:22thing?
- 10:23Like, okay.
- 10:23This has nothing to do with sex as far as the actual act and more just like part of like a
- 10:29meditative practice they do outside of the realms with their partner?
- 10:33It's both because we need to have a practice before we go into sexual intimacy because that
- 10:40can be too stimulating, too overwhelming.
- 10:42So I really ask women two minutes a day if you can actually put one hand on your heart, one
- 10:47hand on your belly, somewhere close to your sex center that feels comfortable and feel into
- 10:51that connection, breathe into that.
- 10:53And then when you're with your partner, you're you will remember to do that.
- 10:57Yeah?
- 10:58And if you ask your partner, you can breathe together, just five minutes of breathing
- 11:02together before doing anything else.
- 11:05Yeah.
- 11:06And then during, like, during intercourse, during self pleasuring, during, you know,
- 11:10mutual pleasuring, it's so beautiful to actually keep on feeling your heart being part
- 11:16of that sexual activity.
- 11:18But it's very important to do it outside as well.
- 11:21Yeah.
- 11:21That's where we start.
- 11:22Because if we just go into sexual activity, it's like, oh, it's too much, and it's
- 11:26difficult to create that flow on the body.
- 11:29So you mentioned shame.
- 11:31Right?
- 11:31And that's something that I think comes up a lot with the, the topic of sex.
- 11:35So if somebody is, like, experiencing, like, they're breathing and they're moving their
- 11:40breath from their genitals to their heart and back down, And all of a sudden they have some
- 11:46sort of, like like, shame reach, like, rush over them, or maybe they just find themselves,
- 11:51like, checking out and they can't even stay in the presence of their body with this exercise,
- 11:56which to me is always a potential indicator of shame.
- 11:59Do you have any recommendations for what people do if, like, they try this exercise?
- 12:03It's like, wow.
- 12:04I'm, like, happy realizing I have a lot of shame around my genitals.
- 12:07Like, what do people do in that scenario?
- 12:09Just a quick reminder, if you've not head over to wanttowantit.com, get your copy of my new
- 12:16best selling book and leave reviews in order to get about $200 worth of free bonuses from
- 12:23myself as well as gifts from sexual health experts around the world.
- 12:28You're going to want to get this to get to the root causes of low libido, solve desire
- 12:33mismatch, communicate about sex better, improve pelvic pain, erectile dysfunction, and so much
- 12:40more.
- 12:41Now let's get back to our episode.
- 12:43The first step, and I always teach that, one of the I teach seven sacred sexuality keys.
- 12:49One of them is pause, which is so important.
- 12:52When you feel that, it's so important to pause because then you create safety for yourself.
- 12:57You don't overwrite.
- 12:58You don't push.
- 13:00Yeah?
- 13:00Keep on kind of being there, but not but actually being absent.
- 13:04Yeah?
- 13:04So it's important to pause and actually, okay.
- 13:07Something is happening right now.
- 13:09And that's where it's important to communicate to your partner.
- 13:12Actually, I'm not something is happening right now.
- 13:14Maybe it's not about you, but something is happening inside.
- 13:18Can we please pause and just stay with that?
- 13:20And the ninja guest technique afterwards.
- 13:25Yeah.
- 13:25And you might need some time to get there, actually, to be able to express it, maybe
- 13:30through sound, maybe through movement.
- 13:33Like, last night, I was teaching, and then I came home, and I felt frustrated and irritated.
- 13:38And I could bring that into sexual intimacy and I could, you know, scream and roar and it felt
- 13:43so exciting, but he was able to hold me in that.
- 13:46So there needs to be, okay.
- 13:47Can we actually do that together?
- 13:49And you might take a lot of steps to get to that point.
- 13:52But shame is usually it freezes us.
- 13:56And we can't act, we can't talk.
- 13:59So bring a bit of movement, pause and actually a little bit of movement and noticing what is
- 14:04the emotion behind that.
- 14:05Yeah?
- 14:06And there could be sadness, there could be hurt, there could be anger.
- 14:09And connecting to those emotions.
- 14:11And in some way, shape, or form, trying to run that energy through the body rather than kind
- 14:15of freezing and shutting down.
- 14:17Yeah?
- 14:17Even moving one finger is like, you know, the shame on moving one finger and keep on
- 14:22breathing.
- 14:23And, of course, your partner needs to be up to it.
- 14:25You need to kind of talk about it.
- 14:27You need to be able to express that with your partner there.
- 14:31Or maybe you need someone else to help you.
- 14:33But when we're going to shame, it's important to have someone else there with us because
- 14:37shame is such an isolating emotion that we need someone else to help us through that.
- 14:42Again, a big question.
- 14:44Yeah.
- 14:44Well, oh, yeah.
- 14:45Yeah.
- 14:46I like to go deep for sure.
- 14:48Uh-uh.
- 14:48But thank you.
- 14:49I appreciate that, you know, the idea of of having a partner that can walk us through that
- 14:54and and be there with us through that.
- 14:56It's it is a big question, but I do think these you know, shame is something, especially when
- 15:00we're talking about sexuality, I think more people, in my, you know, in my opinion, like,
- 15:06experience this more than people we even realize.
- 15:10You know, there's there's so many different ways that we are shamed around our sexuality
- 15:14throughout our whole life, oftentimes.
- 15:16And even if it's just a silly passing comment by a very kind lover and we take it the wrong
- 15:21way, sometimes our body holds shame.
- 15:23So I think it's a really important thing.
- 15:26I know you work with women over 40 a lot, so my curiosity is, like, with this whole practice on
- 15:32heart opening sex, like, do you find that it's, like, particularly important for women after
- 15:3740?
- 15:37Is it or is it just more that it's for all women and and that just happens to be your
- 15:41focus?
- 15:43It's important for women, and I sometimes work with, you know, 20 year olds, and it's so
- 15:48delightful to work with them.
- 15:50But what I find in our younger years, we're so focused on bringing family, achieving careers
- 15:57that we just don't have that time and focus on ourselves, on our sexuality.
- 16:04And women are so good, and I know we had to be so good at focusing on everyone else.
- 16:08And I find that only after 40 women like, oh, what about me?
- 16:11I want my experience to be good.
- 16:13Yeah.
- 16:14And I know, of course, for everyone, it's just so amazing to have that emotional connection
- 16:18and intimacy.
- 16:19But, yeah, as we grow older, we tend to start to find time for that and think, like, I don't
- 16:24wanna have mechanical sex anymore.
- 16:26When in younger years, it could be exciting.
- 16:28You know?
- 16:29It could be really exciting just the physicality of it.
- 16:32But as we grow older, something shifts where that emotional connection becomes more
- 16:37important.
- 16:37Yeah.
- 16:38And of course, there are variations.
- 16:39Yeah.
- 16:40Yeah.
- 16:40Absolutely.
- 16:41That makes perfect sense.
- 16:43So can you give us I know sometimes you talk about three keys to awakening the power of our
- 16:49sexuality.
- 16:50So can you tell us about what those three keys are?
- 16:55So I talk about, like, seven keys.
- 16:57Yeah?
- 16:58And the first step is actually to really notice where am I at.
- 17:03Yeah?
- 17:04What's actually going on?
- 17:05And there's that pause.
- 17:06If I pause, if I take take a breath, what is going on with me?
- 17:10Yeah?
- 17:11And maybe journaling about it, how I feel about my sexuality, how I experience it, what works
- 17:18for me, what doesn't work.
- 17:19So you become really aware.
- 17:20And that's the pause where you can take a deep breath and actually notice, okay.
- 17:24This is where I'm at.
- 17:25Yeah?
- 17:26And then the next step is to start connecting to our body and start to really drop into the
- 17:34body.
- 17:34Because quite often women and I see it kind of we live up here somewhere in our heads, but
- 17:38actually coming down into the body because sexuality happens in the body.
- 17:43So coming down, and you can do that through dancing, through yoga, through breath work,
- 17:49whatever works for you, but really coming back inside yourself, dropping inside.
- 17:56And, you know, the messages, whatever it is.
- 18:00And then when you drop, right, you know where you're at, you drop into your body, and then
- 18:04practicing sacred sexuality practices.
- 18:07And the breath work is part of it, being by yourself with your partner, really dropping
- 18:13deeper into your sexuality through breath work, through you can call it meditation.
- 18:19Yeah.
- 18:19You can call it kind of setting up the scene, but really creating something that this is
- 18:25something special, that it's not just, you know, we just wake up in the morning, we
- 18:30quickly have sex, that's it.
- 18:32But creating this deeper environment where you are supported in going deeper with your
- 18:38partner, where you can share deeply more emotionally and sexually.
- 18:42Yeah?
- 18:43So first pause, then connecting to your body, and then creating those spaces, circumstances,
- 18:50environment where you can go deeper into that, really different space of more sacred sexuality
- 18:57rather than the mechanical and disconnected sex.
- 19:01Which can be fun as well.
- 19:03Absolutely.
- 19:04Absolutely.
- 19:05So so how like, do you recommend like, do you have a strategy on how people, like, create the
- 19:10environment?
- 19:10Like, you were saying create the environment for this.
- 19:13Like, what does that from a standpoint of really having a, say, the best environment to
- 19:19be able to begin to feel safe, to do this breath work, to begin to awaken themselves more
- 19:26deeply to this heart centered sex?
- 19:28Like, what's required of that environment?
- 19:31I imagine it depends, but can you give a little bit of, like, insight as to what you have found
- 19:35to be the most helpful for that creation?
- 19:39It really depends.
- 19:40And I do like, I've do I've got my sexual desire blueprints, it's five different
- 19:44blueprints.
- 19:44And depending on which blueprint you belong to, you're gonna need a different thing.
- 19:50For some women, and I've got this part of being the adventurist, for me, being in a new
- 19:56environment, somewhere where it's like it's new, it's exciting, maybe in the bush, yeah,
- 20:00where it's a bit like, woah, there's there's a bit of sense of adventure and newness.
- 20:04For me, that's what brings more of that.
- 20:06Yeah?
- 20:06For some women, if they're more of a nurturer, they might need to be in their house so they
- 20:11know they're safe, Everything needs to be clean.
- 20:14Everything kind of there are no distractions.
- 20:18Yeah?
- 20:18For this spiritual blueprint where then we need to have candlelight, maybe some spiritual
- 20:26music, maybe have a meditation beforehand.
- 20:30So it really depends which blueprint you are in.
- 20:32And what's important here is really to find out rather than having a script, you know, this is
- 20:36what we're supposed to have kind of, I guess, this more of a vanilla, right, description of
- 20:41how it should be.
- 20:42It's not that for everyone.
- 20:45So you need to find out what actually turns me on, what kind of environment do I need.
- 20:51Might be being on the beach, you know, might be in the sauna.
- 20:54Different people need different things.
- 20:57So don't think of yourself like, oh, I need something different and there's something wrong
- 21:01with me.
- 21:01Actually, you are a different world, different world, unique and beautiful.
- 21:06So then what is your process on how to help people find their blueprint?
- 21:11I've got a quiz.
- 21:12It's just a five coaching quiz where people can just, you know, choose the answers and then
- 21:17they understand which blueprint they are.
- 21:19And it's so it's so empowering, I think, because there's so much talk of the normality
- 21:24kind of this is how it should be, you know, the myth of normal, as Gabor Mate talks about it.
- 21:30And there's nothing I don't wanna say normal about us, but we're so unique.
- 21:35You know?
- 21:36And to find out actually what's important for you is just so empowering.
- 21:39And then you feel like, oh, this is just what I need.
- 21:42You know?
- 21:42Because for some people, I've got another blueprint which is a patient seeker.
- 21:45They actually need a sense of passion.
- 21:47That's the most important thing.
- 21:48Candles, everything doesn't matter.
- 21:50And that's where sometimes for those people, sex after arguments is such a turn on.
- 21:55Yeah?
- 21:56Yep.
- 21:56Absolutely.
- 21:58And and make sure everybody, I will make sure that I have that quiz from Tricia, and we'll
- 22:02make sure to include that in the show notes.
- 22:04And we're gonna conclude part one, everybody.
- 22:08Remember in the show notes, you can find out how to get access to part two.
- 22:12In part two, we're coming back with Trish, and we're talking about how to embrace the changing
- 22:17body with age and really talking a little bit more around how to work with our our sexuality
- 22:24as we change and what changes and how to embrace this time as perhaps the sexiest time
- 22:29of life, hopefully the sexiest time of life so far.
- 22:33And we're gonna talk about all of that more in part two, but I will definitely put the the
- 22:37quiz in the show notes.
- 22:38Is there anything else you wanna make sure that we name today in part one on how people get
- 22:43ahold of you and and your other offerings?
- 22:46Yeah.
- 22:46I have my it's a free mini course and offer five practices on how to reclaim your sexual
- 22:52confidence.
- 22:52And that's where I kind of help women to work through the shame piece.
- 22:57You just do these practices by yourself, and you start to feel more coming back more into
- 23:03your body, removing that inner critical voice, and releasing the shame.
- 23:07So that's, yeah.
- 23:08It's a five day course, and you just do fifteen minutes a day, and women get so much out.
- 23:12There can be a lot of shifts.
- 23:14But it's all in the practice.
- 23:15What's important is not just you listening here, it's like, oh, you understand it.
- 23:18Actually, coming back to the body and practicing that's what's really important.
- 23:22Perfect.
- 23:23Yep.
- 23:23And we'll definitely include that in the show notes as well.
- 23:25And I just wanna thank you so much for being here, and thank you everybody for listening.
- 23:29I hope everybody will take the first steps, start doing the pause work, start doing the
- 23:34breath work.
- 23:35Go get this, these two free gifts, the quiz so you learn more about your turn ons, and you're
- 23:41more in your your environment that creates that sexiness, and then also her mini course, her
- 23:48reclaim your sexual confidence, mini course as well.
- 23:50So all of that in the show notes, and thank you again for joining me, Tricia, and thank you
- 23:55everybody for tuning in to another episode on the lounge.
- 23:59We'll see you all real soon.
