- 0:12Hello, I'm Melissa Crook here in the field podcast.
- 0:15Welcome back to another one-on-one empowerment time with
- 0:18me today. I hope you're doing well.
- 0:20We are rounding out, gosh, we're at the end of February already.
- 0:23I don't know how we are here. Here we are almost two months
- 0:26into 2026. Time flies when you're having
- 0:28fun. I hope your your winter is
- 0:30treating you well. Or if you're in the Southern
- 0:33hemisphere, your summer is treating you well.
- 0:35But today we're going to talk about, we're going to kind of
- 0:37pick up where I left off last week.
- 0:40Don't worry if you haven't listened to last week's yet, you
- 0:42can go back and revisit it. You don't need that information
- 0:45for this episode. But I am going to pick up where
- 0:47I left off last week and really talking about the positioning of
- 0:51the field framework and why I feel like it's so important for
- 0:56women to apply this to their lives, what I've learned from
- 1:00applying it to my own life. So I want to give you a little
- 1:02more background on that today. And again, if what you hear
- 1:06today sounds supportive and helpful to you and get you
- 1:09started, great. And if you need more support, go
- 1:12to their show notes and our resources page,
- 1:15embracinglayers.com. Let's set up a time to talk,
- 1:18have a 30 minute free empowerment session, and let's
- 1:21get you some resources that are going to support you in this.
- 1:24But let's get into this. Really, you know, my hope behind
- 1:30the field framework, this positioning of the field
- 1:32framework on what I have learned and what my hope for is for it.
- 1:37And this really this North Star core positioning that I've been
- 1:42able to come up with with the help of some great resources.
- 1:47My friend Raya Ginto that I mentioned last week is this is
- 1:51what I've my hope for. And it was sometimes hard to put
- 1:55into words. I'm very, very verbal, as you
- 1:59guys have probably noticed from being with me on podcast.
- 2:02So listening to me. So really making it incise, but
- 2:06also having it be something that I look at like that's why I do
- 2:10this and this is what this has done.
- 2:12This is what had coming up with this North Star core position.
- 2:15It's positioning, it's done. It's helped me better, you know,
- 2:20make better decisions on how to get connected with you all and
- 2:24make sure I'm giving you resources that are supportive if
- 2:27meeting the needs that I intended when I started this,
- 2:31when I started this, it was with the podcast, this podcast here
- 2:35just trying to get conversations going.
- 2:37But as I did the work, I knew I wanted more than that.
- 2:40I wanted to give you tangible ways to really apply this to
- 2:45your life. And so it really opened the door
- 2:47to these other resources that have come out of this that we
- 2:51offer now. And this really helped me get
- 2:55there. This really helped give me the
- 2:56language I needed to to like the online course, to start doing
- 3:02public speaking in small and larger groups and workshops to
- 3:07decide to provide one-on-one empowerment sessions and
- 3:11resources that way. The writing of our book, all
- 3:14those things were like these are additional invitations besides
- 3:18what we offer here on the podcast and on our together
- 3:22refill panels, and this really helped inform that and I hope it
- 3:25helps you think about too. Is there a nor Earth star core
- 3:30positioning phrasing that I need in my own life to help me kind
- 3:34of round out what it is I'm trying to do?
- 3:37And also, I'm hoping that this will be a framework you apply to
- 3:42your life to make sure you're taking care of yourself in the
- 3:46way that's honoring to you and helpful to you in supportive of
- 3:51you. So really for me, I'm going to
- 3:53start off reading this, this North North Star core
- 3:57positioning that I left off with last week.
- 4:00And it's that the field framework is a radical and
- 4:03reimagining of self leadership for women who are tired of
- 4:08performing, perfecting and pleasing instead of chasing
- 4:12external measures of success. It guides you to live from your
- 4:17fullest expression, grounded in your values, filled by self
- 4:22trust and embodied through everyday choices.
- 4:25It's not just about Wellness, but it's about agency, identity,
- 4:30and cultural power, which all impact our holistic Wellness.
- 4:35And so some things that really come to mind for me that I want
- 4:41to support you in is we've been taught to define ourselves by
- 4:45what we do. And the feel framework really
- 4:47flips that script. It's about who you are and how
- 4:52you feel while you're doing it. You'll notice when I have guests
- 4:55on here, I don't introduce guests with their BIOS.
- 4:58I introduce guests by their character traits, by who they
- 5:03are. And I want you to start thinking
- 5:05about that too as you introduce yourself or a way to invite
- 5:10people into that conversation is ask them how they describe
- 5:15themselves by their character traits.
- 5:17And you'll notice many times people will start with giving
- 5:22you all their roles and titles and you'll be like, no, no, no,
- 5:25that's great. I'm glad that.
- 5:26But who are you? How would you describe yourself?
- 5:29What are the adjectives that you would use, action words you
- 5:33would use? And you might even have to share
- 5:35your own, like on the 1 pager that Ioffer in our show notes.
- 5:39It's in all of our show notes. I give examples of my own
- 5:42because this can really trip people up because we're so
- 5:45conditioned to introduce ourselves by all of the things
- 5:49that we are doing and performing.
- 5:51Let's get back to that foundation of who you are.
- 5:57And it's also remembering that this allows us to really be
- 6:02grounded in that. It allows us to make sure that
- 6:06our values and how we describe ourselves and how we're feeling
- 6:12our cups is showing up in our calendars and is showing up in
- 6:15the work that we do in the places and spaces we show up in
- 6:18the world and how we show up in them.
- 6:21And this is not success in terms of all the things that we're
- 6:30accomplishing on our checklist on a daily basis.
- 6:33This is success that is a reflection of no more self
- 6:37betrayal. We are we are going to have
- 6:41impact and we're not going to be burned out while we're doing it.
- 6:45We're not going to show up for in a room apologizing for being
- 6:49there. We're going to show up with a
- 6:50quiet confidence of I know I belong here.
- 6:54I know I have something to say that can be helpful and
- 6:56supportive. I'm an also an excellent
- 6:59listener and I'm ready to learn. But we're not apologizing and
- 7:03shrinking down or playing small because we know our value and
- 7:08we're grounded in our inherent foundation of who we are.
- 7:14And then again goes into 3 messaging pillars.
- 7:18I really like 3 because it's not too many to remember, but it's
- 7:22enough to give you some some substance that that identity
- 7:26over productivity. You're more than your To Do List
- 7:29feel reconnects you to your layered, multifaceted self.
- 7:33Liberation through boundaries. Boundaries are not walls.
- 7:37They're bridges to deeper relationships, sustainable
- 7:41success. They're about your decisions,
- 7:45your way that you show up in the world.
- 7:49They're not about other people's.
- 7:51It is it? It's a way to inform how you're
- 7:54going to show up in the world and, and what it is that might
- 7:58be happening in that space that will maybe send you out of that
- 8:01room. And so you're talking in I
- 8:04statements and it's very and, and if boundaries is a
- 8:07triggering word for you, come up with another word framework.
- 8:12I use the word framework a lot. I prefer this is a field
- 8:14framework. So maybe it's framework, maybe
- 8:16it's guardrails, but come up with a word.
- 8:19It doesn't have to be boundaries if that's triggering for you,
- 8:22but find that word that allows you to really be defining and
- 8:30filling your calendar with things that are in alignment
- 8:32with who you are. Embodied wholeness, emotional,
- 8:37mental, spiritual, physical, sexual health.
- 8:40They aren't separate and in, especially in Western medicine
- 8:45practices, they're very much treated as separate entities.
- 8:49And we'll get sent to three or four different practitioners to
- 8:53deal with these things. When in fact, ideally all of
- 8:57these different people should be talking to each other and be
- 9:00connected with each other to inform each other of what's
- 9:04going on with you. And, and they're, they're
- 9:06ideally, there's one practitioner that's asking you,
- 9:10your PCP is asking you a multitude of questions when
- 9:13something comes up in your health, they're asking you, are
- 9:16you feeling stressed? Are you getting enough sleep?
- 9:19Are you drinking enough water? Are you taking time to fuel your
- 9:22body? Are you taking time to move your
- 9:24body? Are you building in any quiet
- 9:26time for yourself? Have you had any suffered any
- 9:30losses lately? They're asking you really wider,
- 9:33broader questions to help connect you to how your
- 9:37emotional mental might be impacting your physical or your
- 9:41lack of physical movement might be impacting your mental and
- 9:45emotional, how you feel about yourself might be impacting how
- 9:49you're showing up sexually. I mean, there's all these
- 9:51different ways and spaces, your spiritual spaces.
- 9:55Are you practicing things to help you keep grounded in these
- 9:58other areas of your health? And so it's that embodied
- 10:02wholeness in in making sure we have are asking ourselves these
- 10:06questions and have people in our lives that are helping inform
- 10:09and support that. And so you know, some phrases
- 10:13you'll hear me say all out living out feel this is
- 10:17shorthand replying this framework, living out, finding
- 10:21empowerment, embracing layers, asking these eight key questions
- 10:25and three talking points that I talk about all the time.
- 10:28The self-care, the healthy boundaries, the connection
- 10:31between mental, emotional, physical health, the showing up
- 10:34unapologetically for yourself and other women.
- 10:37The you know, are you applying your why your values?
- 10:40Are you living those out the yourself?
- 10:43What those are you identified those living out of your own
- 10:46expectations versus others? Are you living out of your own
- 10:49or someone else's or the culture's expectations?
- 10:53Are you embracing your layers? Are you really clear with
- 10:59yourself that you know your value, that you know your worth?
- 11:02Are you curious rather than judgmental about different parts
- 11:06of your layers and story that might be more difficult or
- 11:09challenging or things you wish you hadn't done?
- 11:12And then in living out feel and asking yourself these questions
- 11:15and applying it to your life, are you, how is this impacting
- 11:19your relationship with yourself as well as your relationship
- 11:21with other people? How you're showing up in those
- 11:23relationships, kind of relationships you're surrounding
- 11:26yourself with? It really gets you plugged into
- 11:28that. So that's what living out feel
- 11:30means. And then from doing to being, we
- 11:35are not human doings. We are human beings and then
- 11:41identity over activity. Who am I not?
- 11:45What am I doing that describes me now?
- 11:47Those things lend to us. They add value to our lives.
- 11:50When? When?
- 11:51Their alignment, our titles and our goals.
- 11:53But let's make sure that's not where our values grounded out
- 11:57of, because if it's our values based out of that roles and
- 12:01titles change over time. These things are fleeting,
- 12:03sometimes expectedly and sometimes unexpectedly.
- 12:06So it's so important to be grounded in who you are and what
- 12:11describes you and what fills you up and staying current on that
- 12:15because that's going to change with different seasons.
- 12:18Power without apology. You know you have a voice, you
- 12:22know that you get to take up space.
- 12:25You don't have to apologize for being there.
- 12:28You don't have to live like you're an inconvenience or that
- 12:31your needs are an inconvenience. You're not showing up just and,
- 12:35and there's a difference here. Sometimes this unapologetic and
- 12:38power without apology can be triggering for people.
- 12:42I'm not talking about aggressiveness.
- 12:44I'm talking about assertiveness. We're showing up with a quiet
- 12:48confidence. We're showing up with I am, I
- 12:50know I belong here. I have something to offer.
- 12:53I'm excited to contribute. I'm excited to share that with
- 12:58you. And I'm also excited to listen
- 12:59to you and talk about how we can work together and learn more.
- 13:03That's the difference between we're not apologizing.
- 13:06We're like, oh, I'm so sorry. Can I have a moment when I, hey,
- 13:09I'll have something I'd like to share, I think could be really
- 13:11helpful and supportive and I'm excited to hear what you think
- 13:14about it and what you have to offer as well.
- 13:16You see the difference in the tone of voice and the way you
- 13:18present ourselves. So that's really what I mean
- 13:21when it's it's that power without apology and then the
- 13:24field test. This is the ultimate.
- 13:26Does it align with how I want to feel the next six months?
- 13:31Do I does it or is this going to make me feel burdened?
- 13:35Is this going to make me feel overdrawn?
- 13:38Is this going to make me feel too divided?
- 13:40Is this going to, or does it just not align?
- 13:43Is there just not room for it right now, but there might be
- 13:46room for it later? Or is there something else that
- 13:49needs to be moved to make room for this?
- 13:51Because this is actually in more alignment.
- 13:53So it's that field test. It is aligned with how I want to
- 13:57feel. And then you know, that what
- 14:00that hopefully really helps you to do and what my, my hope is in
- 14:05applying this framework. I want to help women reclaim who
- 14:10they are. Self leadership, healthy
- 14:13boundaries, unapologetic living. I want to offer you a
- 14:18transformative process with this real framework that I have
- 14:22written out of my own experience.
- 14:24These are things that I learned organically through my own work
- 14:29that help me live in a healthy, present, authentic way.
- 14:34And I have to check in with myself all the time on these.
- 14:37This does not make your life perfect or uninhibited or
- 14:41bothered. It simply gives you a framework
- 14:44to allow you to continue to be and aligned with where you are
- 14:47and who you are today. And it's it's a transformative
- 14:51process to help you not over perform.
- 14:55To help you live from your values.
- 14:58Not someone else's values, but your values.
- 15:00To inform where your healthy boundaries need to be moved,
- 15:03adjusted, changed or communicated.
- 15:07The communication piece is really key here and your true
- 15:11identity. Again, I know I keep saying
- 15:13this, but it's so important to remember that true identity of
- 15:16who we are. This work empowers you as to
- 15:21shift from again doing to being. You're not a human doing, you're
- 15:26a human being. And this will allow you to feel
- 15:29more free, more powerful, and more unapologetic in every part
- 15:35of life. And we're not overworked.
- 15:38We're not like, oh, I'm so sorry, I'm so tired, but I'm
- 15:41here. No, we're present, we're
- 15:43focused, we're refreshed because we haven't overdone ourselves.
- 15:48And and then this really, I believe this, I know this.
- 15:52I've seen it in my own life and other women that I've talked
- 15:55with that are applying it to theirs.
- 15:57The feel framework helps you lead from who you are, not what
- 16:01you do. So you don't feel like an
- 16:04imposter because you know who you are.
- 16:07You know what you value and what those values are.
- 16:10You know what you're grounded in and those those character traits
- 16:13that you were given that allow you to thrive here.
- 16:16You're not comparing your list of accomplished to other
- 16:21people's. You are embodied and empowered
- 16:24in who you are and you know you get to create success on your
- 16:29terms and help others to do the same.
- 16:32No one else is defining that for you.
- 16:34You're defining that for you. And, and so This is why I get so
- 16:38excited about this. And I, I think I wanted to
- 16:41really give more insights to this as I do these one-on-one
- 16:46conversations with you to just give you a little bit more of a
- 16:50view of why I'm so passionate about this and, and the power
- 16:56that it has to help us live the way we were designed to live.
- 17:01But that's not the narrative that we've gotten.
- 17:04But we can get back to it. We can and live this way.
- 17:07It is possible. So I hope this was a great
- 17:10reminder for you today. I hope this gave you what you
- 17:13needed this week. I hope it's something you'll
- 17:16share with the women in your life.
- 17:18And if you need additional support, I've got many
- 17:21resources, whether it's an online course, speaking to you
- 17:24personally or virtually in groups.
- 17:27I really encourage the online course and the book to do in
- 17:31groups to support each other in it.
- 17:33But I do one-on-one as well. Sometimes we need that
- 17:35one-on-one accountability, really get comfortable in our
- 17:38own skin before we're ready to talk about and share with
- 17:41others. So multiple ways I can support
- 17:44you in this and, and also a ton of resources on our website that
- 17:48up with other women that I've shared on the podcast, because I
- 17:51bring those guests on because they provide resources that
- 17:57support within the framework that I'm providing you.
- 18:00They give you those additional things that you might need to
- 18:03apply to yourself, care, your healthy boundaries, your mental,
- 18:06emotional, physical health, showing up unapologetically.
- 18:09And so it's all part of this resource engine that allows you
- 18:15to live out field. So tons of stuff there to
- 18:18support you. Thanks so much for being with me
- 18:20today. Remember, you are valuable, you
- 18:23are worthy, and you get to choose.
- 18:25Take good care and we'll see you next time here on the Field
- 18:28podcast.
