- 0:29now, our youth, our teenage years, just whenever we felt comforted by
- 0:35a movie and then we felt like we should revisit it to make sure we
- 0:38could still feel comfortable about it. Enjoy this audio version of Still Comfy if
- 0:44you would like to see the video version. I have linked the YouTube playlist

- 1:29you this fall with all new episodes of two All the Men I've tolerated before.
- 1:57Yes, Dead just can't watch a spooky movie. She likes some kind
- 2:09of lovey. Twilight was written badly, so instead we did it Adams Family
- 2:19Dead Love. That was so good? Thank you? Was it better than
- 2:29VI? I'll just make this up right now on the spot for a night's
- 2:34tale. So good. I had a better I had a line at the
- 2:39end that actually and then I changed it right at the end of So we
- 2:43did Adam's Family, But like whatever, Hi everyone, it's still comfy Tuesday.
- 2:49My name is Nathley Katona. You're on my YouTube channel for to all
- 2:53the Men I've Tyler redd before your Weekly look at I almost just said every
- 2:57day misogyny. Your weekly look every day misogyny. And this is my co
- 3:01host. Hi friends, I'm Julia Washington, the host of pop Culture Makes
- 3:05Me Jealous, where we analyze pop culture through the lens of race or gender
- 3:08and sometimes both. And this was almost not meant to be because all of
- 3:15the tech things were mad. They're so mad. The techno gods are angry
- 3:20today, So if we seem for us, it's because we get to just
- 3:23sit in the green room for fifteen minutes chatting. Yeah, and Penelope has
- 3:29already parkourd off of the desk hardcore parkour. All right, Well, today
- 3:35we are covering, if you couldn't tell by my fantastic musical renditions, we're
- 3:40covering the Adams Family. And when I say the Adams Family, I mean
- 3:45the good one, the nineteen ninety one version. Yeah. But okay,
- 3:50but this is a question. Did you ever watch the original black and white
- 3:53TV version every now and again at my grandparents' house because what every channel did
- 4:00the reruns for it, and we didn't have cable growing up, so I
- 4:03did see it in the summers on I mean obviously by the time we were
- 4:08kids it was in reruns anyway. Yeah, but yeah, I was a
- 4:12big nicke at night kid, so I've seen it, and I've seen the
- 4:15monsters. Yeah, the monsters. I feel like the Adams Family, though,
- 4:23was more taboo in my house because, if you'll recall, was raised
- 4:28in a conservative Christian home. Jo just couldn't go to camp or learn about
- 4:32space and or or you know, spooky things. Yeah, and I think
- 4:40the monsters were like the the water down version of it in Adam's family,
- 4:46and that's probably why it wasn't as like no no no kind of situation because
- 4:54I don't remember if because the nineteen ninety one version was deaf like a no
- 5:00go, oh, a no go. It was a no go. Uh.
- 5:05We have one viewer, so this is a great time for me to
- 5:10pause and actually remind you that we have a live comment feed that if you
- 5:15are here, we can't see you unless you put something in the comment feed.
- 5:21Jules did a very vana demonstration, so make sure to go follow the
- 5:28pop Culture makes Me Jealous YouTube channel since we share this show, and if
- 5:32you are watching the replay, go ahead and comment your thoughts there too.
- 5:35This is truly like the only place except for Patreon, that you can just
- 5:41have free access to, like in the moment stream of consciousness, comment on
- 5:46our stuff. Yeah yeah, yeah truly. But what my opening, my
- 5:55statement of like Adam Stanley is definitely a no go. As I was watching
- 5:59it and the opening when we first get eyes on Angelica Houston, my first
- 6:02thought was, damn, damn, ma'am, you are stuff ning, always
- 6:10stunning, always stunning. My no, we were a huge Adams Family house,
- 6:18like we watched all of the movies, like I haven't seen any of
- 6:21the recent ones, but I watched Wednesday and then didn't like it. But
- 6:27is that because you're a purist, like a nineties purist. No, it's
- 6:31not because I'm a purist. It's just a I truly feel that Wednesday takes
- 6:42out the entire heart that is the Adams Family franchise, like it was Adam's
- 6:46Family for a reason. Sure, yeah, they're an ensemble, and yes,
- 6:55as an ensemble. Now, I did try to turn on the cartoon
- 6:58because I was very curious if when they did you know, the newfound like
- 7:04claymation animation that they did in the most more recent videos, it dress sexy,
- 7:12like if Ms and Martisher are all over one another, are so horny
- 7:15for each other, they're so horny. Like Okay, I was like,
- 7:21this is such a beautiful example of when a couple is in love and like
- 7:30genuinely wants to be together, which we don't often have, especially when you
- 7:33think about the nineties. Correct, And here's the thing about the Adams family
- 7:39that always gets me tickled. And by the way, just because like Adam's
- 7:44family and the Adam So I thought the original Adam's Family was Adam's family values,
- 7:48and I just think it's because Joan Cusack isn't it, and therefore it
- 7:51made it a bigger movie on my radar. But the nineteen ninety one Adams
- 7:59Family is the reboot that they did for US millennials, and it stars Angelica
- 8:05Houston, a very young but a very talented Christina Ricci so she was so
- 8:11good I stand, and Christopher Lloyd as Uncle Fester. And this is the
- 8:20one where Uncle Fester has been missing for decades and then an impostor comes to
- 8:26take the Adam's fortune and shenanigans ensue, and then spoiler alert, at the
- 8:33end, it does actually end up being Uncle Fester because there's only one man
- 8:37who looks like that. Yeah, I think so. The thing about the
- 8:43thing that always tickles me about the Adams Family is that it's it's meant to
- 8:52be like, oh, they're scary and they're outsiders or whatever, and they're
- 8:58like weirdos. But it's like we've made that up in our minds, and
- 9:03like the story never plays that out. Because I was like, why is
- 9:07it that everyone's real quick convinced that the Adams family is a real alternative lifestyle
- 9:13when they're literally the happiest people I know. They're the happiest people. They
- 9:18are so rooted in family and being in like so focused on family and honoring
- 9:24those who like lived before them, and just again a demonstration of like the
- 9:31parents actually wanting to be together and loving each other and not sniping at each
- 9:35other and just really showing us like, hey, this is kind of what
- 9:39the kind of love that you should probably look for. Well, and I
- 9:43love all of the joke structures in the Animals family because none of the jokes
- 9:46are at the expense of anyone else in the family. It's not like Gomez
- 9:52is always digging in at Martitia and Pugsley is a real consensual parts of him
- 10:01and whatever weird shit Wednesday has decided that they will do, and they're like
- 10:05real siblings. That's why I turned off the cartoon because the first person who
- 10:09spoke was Pugsly and he sounded too intelligent and I was like, that's not
- 10:13my Pugsly, and then I turned it off. Oh yeah, yeah,
- 10:18because Pugsy in this movie doesn't really have a lot to say. Well,
- 10:20and I remember that in this show like that is Pugsley's vibe. Yeah,
- 10:26he's more of a quiet character, which makes sense too when you think of
- 10:28it or not, like not it makes sense. But like when they go
- 10:33to the Halloween party and he dresses like Uncle Fester, it's like one of
- 10:37those things. It's like out of admiration because they're different, but the you
- 10:41know what I mean, Like he admires Fester for who he is versus like
- 10:48not that was a dumb point that you get it. Yeah, it's like
- 10:54we don't get to do ur We didn't get to do our get ready for
- 10:56the show. We did it camping. So we're today we but he we
- 11:03all have that uncle or that aunt who is our favorite uncle or aunt.
- 11:09I also enjoy that Wednesday. So one of the really big things that I
- 11:16enjoy about the Adams family is it's not even that like no one's outwardly mean
- 11:20to you, but like everyone is respected and heard in that family. Yeah,
- 11:26so when Wednesday is the first person who starts catching on that Uncle Fester
- 11:31is an Uncle Fester or there's more to the story or whatever, no one
- 11:35is like outwardly telling her like you're insane, right crazy, We've accepted this
- 11:41to be true. Why can't you like, oh that Wednesday And when they
- 11:46go to the school for the little performance and the teacher is expressing to Martitia
- 11:54like, oh, we did some we did some projects on our heroes.
- 12:00Yeah, and Wednesday did her great aunt who was burned at the state for
- 12:03a witch or whatever. There's never any like at no point or the Adams
- 12:11family in on the fact that that's actually weird to like basic white people.
- 12:16So more too's just like, oh, yes, that is one of our
- 12:18favorite family stories, and so naturally the only connection I can make is that
- 12:28the Adams family are just a Gothic version of my Croatian family. I believe
- 12:33it based on some of the stories you told me. I did write down
- 12:37Hall of Heroes because on my notes, because I think that is one of
- 12:39the greatest scenes of the film, because it also highlights just how much they
- 12:46value the family lore versus placing admiration. Because I think in the Hall of
- 12:54Heroes you had George Bush and Barbara Bush and like all of these other faces
- 13:01that you know, you look at them and you're like, kids don't know
- 13:05anything about George Bush and also scratch your head like like why and then here
- 13:11comes this family, this little girl who's like I am so I love my
- 13:15family history so much that I respected enough to share with you. Yeah,
- 13:20and like fully understands it versus again like like you said, who I couldn't
- 13:26in nineteen ninety one, I couldn't have told you what the fuck George Bush
- 13:28was doing. No, so like just like literally picking the president because you
- 13:33know that someone has to be president of this that or like your parents are
- 13:37like, you know, who should we should admire is George w is George
- 13:43hw h w? This is ninety one, But still that was a great
- 13:48scene to me. And then the other thing that I wrote down was I
- 13:54love how everyone assumes that the Adams family is a bunch of dummies when really
- 13:58they're that's just their prejudice, Like they're not Like the Adam's family just doesn't
- 14:03see the world the way that everyone else does, which is so freeing.
- 14:07But it's like because of that, everyone just assumes they're stupid. Oh my
- 14:11gosh, I just got chills because now we can connect it to the other
- 14:15thing that we've been obsessed about this week, which is Britney Spears. Like
- 14:18everyone is just assuming that Britney is in crisis. And I'm not saying that
- 14:22she's out of crisis, right, but we're not taking into context that you
- 14:28know, there's mental illness, there's medical abuse, there's a lot of distrust
- 14:33for society due to things that she's had to live through. And with the
- 14:37Adams family, they're just so comfortable in themselves, much like a naked Britney
- 14:41spears twirling with knives. They're just so comfortable with themselves that at no point,
- 14:50just it's not that they don't pick up that you're questioning their culture or
- 14:56their family structure or their lore. They're just not questioning it with you,
- 15:01like it's not making them falter on who they are people right exactly exactly,
- 15:07and even when, like you said, even like weeks since early on that
- 15:11Martitia isn't quite sold on this being the true Fester, but she's still loving
- 15:16her husband, she's still supporting him through it, but she's also proceeding with
- 15:20caution to still protect her family until they know for sure. And I thought
- 15:26it was done so beautifully because it wasn't, uh I told you so,
- 15:31or I was concerned, or like this naggingness that usually comes when you keep
- 15:37this guy into our house, yeah, and ask questions. Yeah. It
- 15:41really highlights just how solid their relationship is because she's like, my husband has
- 15:46to work through this. I'm going to support him even though I have doubts.
- 15:52And then when it all does kind of start to fall apart, she's
- 15:54like, all right, let's solve this problem. And it's not like oh,
- 15:58my stupid husband, Oh I have to fix this. Oh why didn't
- 16:00you listen to me. It's very much like an understanding of their partnership and
- 16:07the partner. Hm, I can't. I feel like I'm saying the same
- 16:11shit over and over and over again because I think I mean, honestly,
- 16:15I stopped taking notes on the movie because I was like, I have no
- 16:18notes on this family. Really would move into this family's home tomorrow. I
- 16:22mean I would get freaked out because you know, I don't like intense and
- 16:26scary things, but the whole Like another note I wrote, so it's I
- 16:30have like no critic like you have no criticism into the movie. Another note
- 16:33I wrote was this is just a movie of finding belonging in an unexpected way,
- 16:40like yeah, because and everyone was good about it at the end.
- 16:45What so, what was Fester's amnesia name was it Harold? Was his name
- 16:51Gerald? Jerry Gerald? It was a George, Yeah, it was yeah.
- 16:56Win Fester doesn't realize that he's Fester. He has this really toxic mom
- 17:00figure, which is probably something that we can go into. He has this
- 17:03very toxic mom figure who has basically made it impossible for him to not feel
- 17:11like an outsider, Like she revels in his violent tendencies because it helps her
- 17:17get her way, but then she's also only allowing him to socialize with her
- 17:23so she can keep in control of him. And then through this con he
- 17:30does, I mean, honestly, what I do as a person who's been
- 17:33used and abused, just goes, oh my gosh, are these people Okay?
- 17:37I will become their uncle. And he becomes very endeared to the kids,
- 17:44Wore and Grandma and Lurch. And it's when he's so upset because his
- 17:55me mommy isn't going to let him go to the kids play and he goes,
- 17:59but I've been helped them with the with it and she's like why and
- 18:03he's like, well, it's all part of the bit, but you can
- 18:06very much still it's it out part of the bit. Yeah, And it's
- 18:10almost It's like you watch him start to realize that he fits there like that,
- 18:15it makes sense that he's there even though he doesn't believe that he's a
- 18:18part of the family. He's not really Uncle Fester. There's something about that
- 18:25family that makes him feel valuable and whole. And that's the other thing that
- 18:30I really loved about it, too, is that Fester doesn't find romantic love
- 18:34to make him whole. Fester just finds his community to make him whole.
- 18:40Yes, And it all comes to head in a beautiful, choreographed moment which
- 18:45we know. I love with the mamushka. Yeah, and I remember I
- 18:48remember being a kid and that used to be my favorite scene and I would
- 18:52dance to them. That's adorable. Yeah, because, as you know,
- 18:59my family likes to poka. To me, it was the same thing.
- 19:07And there are so many Again, Honestly, my family is gonna be so
- 19:12pissed when I text them all and be like, I know that we thought
- 19:15that my big fat Greek wedding was the truest representation of our family we've ever
- 19:21seen. But have you guys revisited the Adams family? Can't you guys looked
- 19:30into Adam's family in nineteen ninety one, wait for that response and because they
- 19:36have that big family party because they're so excited that fester has been found,
- 19:41So if they're going to share it with all of their family. And I
- 19:45have a family lower story like that where one of my mom's cousins was being
- 19:52picked up from the airport after being in Vietnam for the war, and there
- 19:59were these other guys sitting with him at the airport that were either on connecting
- 20:04flights or still waiting for a ride home or whatever. And my uncles,
- 20:10my grant uncles, went, we'll just get in our car. And my
- 20:12mom was like, I thought that, like there was a parade, because
- 20:17everyone in their neighborhood came out into the yard and people were honking and there
- 20:22was a big barbecue. She goes, I literally like, you couldn't convince
- 20:25me it wasn't the fourth of July. I love that, And it was
- 20:29all because my cousin was coming home. And then like they my family immediately
- 20:33looked at these guys and they're like, are people picking you up? Do
- 20:37you have a couple of hours? Come join our family, like be a
- 20:40parade, Like come eat with us. You always got to come home.
- 20:44I can't. I can't talk about it anymore. I'm gonna cry. But
- 20:48it's beautiful. But I think one of the things about the Adams family that
- 20:56is so beautiful is that you can view them as like a big ethnic family,
- 21:00and there's just something about those big like when Wednesday's dancing with her cousin
- 21:07and I'm like, I've been Wednesday dancing with my cousin, a cousin who's
- 21:14severely older than me, possibly my mom's cousin. But the flow dance happened
- 21:21and we didn't have dates, so it's like, I guess we're each other
- 21:26yea, yeah, And nothing's weird about it, Like right, it's not
- 21:32creepy, it's not weird. Like there are a lot of family structures where
- 21:41a lot of times affection is withheld yes from male family members because it is
- 21:48viewed as like creepy or gross or weird, and the Adams family, they're
- 21:53just so loud and messy about their feelings emotions where I'm like, oh,
- 22:00this feels like home, like a gothic comb. Yeah. And that leads
- 22:06me into my another point I wrote down, which was I love how even
- 22:08though it's the Adams family, and you know, Mortician makes a comment about
- 22:12like, oh, that's Gomez's fam you know parents, It's a shame they
- 22:17didn't get to meet the children. They still have her mother living with them,
- 22:21and it's a non issue. She's just a regular part of the family.
- 22:25There is no tension between Gomez and her mortitious mother. Grandmother is there.
- 22:30Grandmother exists in the family structure. Grandmother is not a problem. Yeah,
- 22:34which is another dynamic we don't get to see a lot of. It's
- 22:38a lot of representation of like you really should probably hate your mother in law
- 22:41because your mother in law is the worst. Well. And then lyricsis lawyer
- 22:45and his wife who are also just enveloped into the family because the Adams just
- 22:51trust that they are being genuine about the really positive feelings about the family.
- 22:56Which I do think that the wife character is kind of in need with them
- 23:00one as you see by the end of it, she becomes part of the
- 23:03family. Yeah, she marries cousin it, which is of the Adams.
- 23:07I just I fucking loved that when they were like falling in love at the
- 23:11party and like all these things, and then you know they show up together
- 23:15as like oh yeah, I forgot that this happened, and it makes me
- 23:18so happy because it's like, weep all. I don't know if this is
- 23:22true for you, but all of us who are not quite have had the
- 23:26one friend who's come to a family thing and who's just been like the uptight,
- 23:30like I don't know what to do, everybody's noisy face, and that's
- 23:34her. And then she becomes like you said, she becomes endeared with them
- 23:37and then eventually assimilates, which is so wonderful because it's like you can still
- 23:45be like uh, withdrawn and quiet, but still also be loved and a
- 23:52part of it. Oh yea. My best friend still tells me, retells
- 23:57me stories of my own school graduation party of things that she just observed from
- 24:03my family. She's like, and Linda, do you remember when this happened?
- 24:07And it's like, yes, I do it. Well. Then,
- 24:12probably not the last time that I was staying at my aunt's house, but
- 24:18the night, but the time before, Yeah, it was probably for the
- 24:22baby shower. My aunt asked me how my best friend was doing and how
- 24:26her kids were doing, and so like, I don't know how to explain
- 24:32it. I'm convinced that it's weird because I think I've been made to feel
- 24:36like my family is weird. It might be the way that I tell the
- 24:38stories. It might be the way one tells the story and describes things makes
- 24:47a difference. Yeah, it might be the way that I'm like, so,
- 24:49has your family ever gone through this? Yeah? But I think one
- 24:55of the reasons why I did a little bit of an overshare last night in
- 24:59one of our group chats with my family stories is because the animal's family like
- 25:03made me nostalgic for that. Yeah. Yeah, so that probably means that
- 25:08PEG's gonna come and haunt me. It is October, it is October.
- 25:14It doesn't have to be October. I know, I was. I was
- 25:18just trying to play, you know. But Okay, speaking about Gomez and
- 25:26Matsia being so fucking hot for each other, I'm like, see, this
- 25:29is what happens when you say that the anim's family is weird. Then we
- 25:32all become sexually repressed. It's like, and then we just accept marriages where
- 25:37we're not hot for one another. Yeah. And I think that's the part
- 25:40that really stresses me out because as this unpartnered adult woman, and people who
- 25:47are always trying to figure out how to get me partnered. I don't know
- 25:49how to explain to them that I want to be in a relationship with someone
- 25:55I like, desire and emotionally into life actually, because yeah, the like
- 26:02of I want it. The foundation needs to be friendship. I need to
- 26:04have a fondness. I'd like to like them. I don't want to be
- 26:10partnered as a safety net because society is structured for women to only be protected
- 26:15if they're partnered, but then that partner is terrible to them. Correct,
- 26:19Like, there are so many times when either I'm watching the animal's family or
- 26:25the Adam's family comes up or whatever, and I'm just like, if it's
- 26:27not Morticia and Gomes, I do not want it. I do not want
- 26:33it. He's and it's not in a legerous way that he's just so they're
- 26:40just so into each other, right, they can't hear they can't hear like
- 26:45triangle without being like, do you remember when we did the Alaskan Triangle that
- 26:51midnight like and then they're all swept up in it again and I was like,
- 26:55yeah, those two fuck yeah. I was like, I'm surprised they
- 26:59don't have more child in because I really feel like there. It's all the
- 27:02time over there, which is good for you get it. You know,
- 27:06it does end. So the movie does end with Mortician announcing that there will
- 27:10be a third at Yes Baby Yeah, which I don't think Wednesday covers.
- 27:15See again, I don't like that Windnesday show. It took out all the
- 27:18heart. Can I tell you a couple of things that I noted that I
- 27:21really did kind of enjoy watching an Adulthood. Okay, so they're at the
- 27:26talent show. The location where they're doing the talent show is the Gilmore Girls
- 27:30Hall. That location is used so many times in Gilmore Girls that like,
- 27:36I can't not see Gilmore Girls when I see that location. Oh I love
- 27:41that, And this is like nine years before Gilmore Girls, so that's fun.
- 27:47And then I love when Martitia's trying to find work and she and the
- 27:51gal's like, oh, did you what's your degree in? And she's like
- 27:53hexes and spells, and the woman's like, so liberal arts and literal arts.
- 28:00By the way, I have learned that in England or something, there
- 28:03is a there is a university. I think it's an English university across the
- 28:08seas that now is offering like witchcraft as a major, and I was like,
- 28:14let me pack my bags, Penelope were moving. I don't see why
- 28:18not. There's so much to it that it's I'm like, I am truly
- 28:21impressed when people have like a deep knowledge and understanding, Like that's a lot
- 28:25of dedication. It's no different than someone studying like chemistry or math or history.
- 28:32Well, and I think that's what like always tickles me about the Wednesday
- 28:37picking her ancestor who was burned at the steak because it because then Martitia goes
- 28:44into it. Yeah, she's like, oh, yes, she was burned
- 28:47at the steak. I believe it was because she used to dance naked at
- 28:51night, and like it is like that was a lot of what was going
- 28:55on during the Salem witch Trial, where women were being persecuted for show sexuality
- 29:00or new or knowledge of something right, like I know how to make this
- 29:06thing out of berries that will help heal you. You don't need an exorcism.
- 29:12And then she goes, but don't worry, we've told Wednesday college first.
- 29:18But like, also, if you want to be burned up the steak
- 29:21as a martyr, okay, yeah, I mean live your life, happy
- 29:25girl. The other thing that I was like, oh, I fucking love
- 29:27this was when she's clipping the roses off and just leaving the stems versus in
- 29:33like just throwing them on the ground, like that has no value here.
- 29:37We just want the brown, the aesthetic, the esthetic. I was like,
- 29:41I love this woman, no, literally like the thing of fantasies,
- 29:47Martitia Adams. And I love that he called her tish Like that was so
- 29:52like that was so endearing in a way, whereas like I love that you
- 29:56her name is Mortitia, but you shorten it and it's I don't know,
- 30:02it just was so they're just so enchanting. I just love them well.
- 30:06And there's so much about Mortitia and Gomez that that is, you know,
- 30:11barrier breaking. Gomez is a short king. Yeah. I would classify them
- 30:19as a biracial couple because of Gomez, and then Martitia is a very white
- 30:26lady. H Yeah. And I wish I had looked up who played the
- 30:30original cast. But the guy who plays Gomez, his name is, his
- 30:33last name is Julia, Yes, and do you know that he died when
- 30:37he was fifty four? The nineteen ninety one Gomez, Because I was like,
- 30:42where is this? My gosh, he was so Handsome. I didn't
- 30:48look. I didn't get that far when I was doing my Adam's family googling.
- 30:52But so, yeah, the the Gomez in the movie that we watched,
- 30:57I mean Raoul Raoul, Yeah, he died when he was fifty four.
- 31:03I was like, so sad. Oh like three years after doing this
- 31:08movie. Yeah, so now I don't even know if it's him in Family
- 31:14Values. Well, Family Values was in ninety three, and yes it is
- 31:18him. Okay, I thought it was because Angelica Houston I see for the
- 31:26rest of my childhood for always. Yeah, oh my gosh, this isn't
- 31:33Angelica Houston. But now I feel like we have to watch the Glenn Close
- 31:40one hundred and one dalmation. How did I know you were going to say
- 31:42that? Because no one is a better Cruella than Glenn Coat Close, and
- 31:48you cannot tell me I'm wrong. I won't tell you you're wrong, but
- 31:52I will tell you that Kruella is a movie that imprinted me in a way
- 31:56that I was not expecting than the reboot with Emma Stone. Uh huh.
- 32:01I have not watched it. Oh so good. Okay, well I'll watch
- 32:07it because now I have access back to and I think just'm going to preface
- 32:14it because you know that when Carly and I are together, all we do
- 32:15is talk about how we used to be so punk rock. The soundtrack in
- 32:21that movie is like it it was like, oh my god, I had
- 32:25all of these albums, like, oh my god, like it just was
- 32:29this. So the music really does help me sell it. So if just
- 32:34know that that nostalgia factor is there for me. Also about Wednesday and Pugsley,
- 32:42they are the most polite, well behaved children I've ever seen. Are
- 32:45they often throwing knives at one another? Yes? Was there talent show performance
- 32:52a little too bloody for me? Yes? Yes? But polite. You
- 32:58know that they don't act up in class. And you know, Wednesday says
- 33:01some shit. She says some shit like when that girl Scout is like,
- 33:07are you sure it's made from real lemons? And they're like, yeah,
- 33:10I only drink things that are organic with real fruit, and they're like okay,
- 33:15and she's like, I'll mind some lemon, ae me buy my cookies,
- 33:19and Wednesday goes are they made out of real? Girl? Scout so
- 33:22good? It's so good, it's so funny, and that girl is terrified,
- 33:29and I'm like here's the thing. I don't think Wednesday's spooky at all.
- 33:32I think she's just funny. Yeah, she's deadpan. Yeah, And
- 33:38I think that's what I miss out of the By the way, Jenna Ortega
- 33:43does a great job in that show. It's not that she's a pissport Wednesday.
- 33:46I don't like the structure of the show. I do not like that
- 33:50in order to focus on Wednesday, they removed her from the family. And
- 33:57but I don't think that, uh, Wednesday captures how funny Wednesday is.
- 34:04I think that they leaned really hard on well, she's spooky and now she's
- 34:07at spooky school. See, And I feel like, how do you have
- 34:12Wednesday if she's not funny? Right? Also, I will say that the
- 34:17Adams family are comedians before they are spooky, A hundred percent. Absolutely.
- 34:23And I think that's part of why I could hang through the movie, because
- 34:27the comedy of it all, Oh, it's so funny and and and part
- 34:32of the funny is that they just like fully accept that this is who their
- 34:36family is. But also that's part of the comedy in my family is that
- 34:39there's just blatant acceptance, like, oh, yep, that happened. Yeah,
- 34:44so like when a dungeon monster just like burps up fire from the basement
- 34:47and they're like, ah, Patsy, she's acting up again. And like
- 34:53when they were walking through the cemetery and they're going over how each family member
- 34:59has died horrific death, I was like, this is also kind of beautiful
- 35:04because you and I now have grown up in an age where people stop telling
- 35:09you why people have died, and you and I are always like, why
- 35:13won't anyone just tell us how people died? That's literally all I need.
- 35:15That's all I need, because the funeral's great, it helps with closure,
- 35:20But if I don't know how they died, then I'm never leaving the house
- 35:22because I'm assuming they died because they left the house right, Like came to
- 35:28my mental illness, but like, well not even just the mental illness,
- 35:32but the emotions like help with the grief process. It really does help with
- 35:38the grief process. And we know how people have passed, yes, Like,
- 35:44and you and I have talked before about how like they used to put
- 35:46the cause of death in obituaries and now they've stopped. Yeah, my son
- 35:52knows, he knows you put my cause of death in there. You put
- 35:55my cause of death. It's a headlife and if it was thing comedic,
- 36:00talk about it at the party. Yeah, overran by lions at the zoo.
- 36:07Roar could happen? It? Could? We watch Jurassic Park and we're
- 36:10like, we're not safe. Feed zeus, no, watch me, never
- 36:15go to the zoo again. I have the hiccups. It's okay, it's
- 36:20because I crammed at dinner right before we did this. Oh but yeah,
- 36:28I think I think when you misinterpret the actual intent behind something, I think
- 36:39that's what Wednesday did. I think Wednesday misinterpreted the original intent to the Adams
- 36:45Family, which is like the reason why they have that dumbass theme song is
- 36:51because they're comedians, they're spooky and they're kookie. Right. Did you guys
- 36:55ever do like the spoof of it the day of the week. That's how
- 37:01I used to teach days of the week in kindergarten. There's one that starts
- 37:06like Uncle Fester farted. No, I don't think I did that one.
- 37:09Well. I can't say the next line because it's not okay. But I
- 37:13was thinking about it today when I was like sort of just you know,
- 37:17reviewing everything from yesterday, when I was watching the movie and making notes,
- 37:22and I was like, that little anecdotal song that we used to sing about
- 37:25the Adams Family is not okay now, and I can't believe adults let us
- 37:34sing that on the playground. Remember I went to a private religious school.
- 37:38They were just happy that you were making fun of the Adams family. Oh
- 37:45but yeah, I think that's where that's another play. I didn't know that
- 37:47this was going to turn into my notes on the Wednesday Show where I'm like,
- 37:52you misinterpreted the intent behind the Adams family, which is the Adams family
- 37:57because also, like Wednesday and more Titia are having mother daughter strife, which
- 38:02I understand is the natural part of things. But I was like, also,
- 38:06not the point of the Adams Family. And the Wednesday show they're having
- 38:09mother daughter strife. Yeah, oh that feels uh at a character. Yeah
- 38:16no, that's what I'm saying. Like, I was like, not the
- 38:19point of the Adams Family. The point of the Adams family. So I
- 38:22really think the point of the Adams family is that they have to be a
- 38:27team in a community because they're so different from the outside world, right,
- 38:31so you really cannot lean on the outside world to be your community. Yeah,
- 38:37that's how I interpreted it. Was that not how I was supposed to
- 38:40interpret it. It is there is because I think the reason why and and
- 38:45you touched on this earlier with you know, your Croatian family being more Adams
- 38:51Stanley than my big fat Greek way Greek wedding. But what all of those
- 38:54things are teaching us who don't fit into the major dominant culture that is currently
- 38:59crying that they're you know, being attacked, is that you do have to
- 39:04turn in to your family to survive the major dominant culture because your family's gonna
- 39:09be who gets you, who understands you, their fucking fault were weird,
- 39:15But at the same time like they're the ones who are gonna be a comfort
- 39:20and feel like like it doesn't matter how much I'm in disagreement with a parent
- 39:24or another family member. If something weird happens in the world and I go
- 39:30to a family function, it's almost like it's a reset, a reminder that
- 39:35it's like, well, at least here I fit in, even if that
- 39:37person has something to say negative about me. Even if I'm currently in a
- 39:42weird place with one of my parents, it doesn't matter. There's something about
- 39:45that bond so like it's a balm to the rest. Yeah. I mean
- 39:53you hear the way that I talk when I go back to visit everybody,
- 39:58whether it's planned or not, and I do. I just like I just
- 40:01tell you, I'm like, Oh, my mom's cousin just told me that
- 40:07she loves when I'm in town because it's just like because I'm so lovely to
- 40:10spend time with. Isn't that nice to hear? Yeah? I never hear
- 40:15of it, And that's the great Like that's the greatest thing. Like my
- 40:19cousin and I had a moment in July where it was just like, you
- 40:22know, we do these things because we care about you and Jack and your
- 40:25son. And I was just like, ah, that felt so good to
- 40:30hear. And also I love that that's because also same like I was the
- 40:35anti slash old cousin who's like telling all of the new babies, come to
- 40:38California. I will take care of you. I will take care of you.
- 40:43I have room come to California. What do you need? What can
- 40:45I do for you? Like and then the child that we were celebrating,
- 40:50everyone made s do you feel celebrated this weekend? Are you feeling loved okay,
- 40:54because you know, it's like we it's like there's a lot of people.
- 40:58There's a lot of people, and there's like it's not that we want
- 41:00to reassure that she's being loved, but it's just that moment of like all
- 41:05of our efforts, let me, let's if you're not feeling loved, then
- 41:08what wear's the miss right? Like, and that's more of a mental health
- 41:13check. Well, and I think that's what's beautiful about giant families too,
- 41:17is if someone drops the ball and says something fucking ignorant, then there's an
- 41:22auntie or a cousin or an uncle or a grandparent who's like, hell,
- 41:29yeah, no, that was a rough one. Come over here, yeah,
- 41:31and I and I have enough patience to deal with you. Yeah,
- 41:36and that because it spreads out, yes, and and the chances of you
- 41:39having another family member who you are more like than other family members are high,
- 41:45So then you have that moment of like, like, I have an
- 41:50affection for little sisters because they're always treated like shit sometimes well not in every
- 41:53family dynamic, but in what in my experience, the little sisters that I
- 41:59sort of feel protective for. It's because they do have big personalities and people
- 42:05don't always like like it. So I'm always the one who's like, here,
- 42:09let me explain to you why that person is being shitty to you,
- 42:12because I've processed it through therapy to understand well, and let me help.
- 42:19Let me help you guide you. Let me help guide you so you don't
- 42:22also do dumb shit like I did to get over it before you discover therapy.
- 42:27And as you know, because you get the text in real time.
- 42:30I'm still learning that there are so many cousins that just through statistics and distance,
- 42:36I don't get to talk to as much. Yeah, but then when
- 42:38I do talk to them, I'm like jewels. It's like I've been best
- 42:42friends with my cousin for twenty years. We have all of the same fucking
- 42:45hobbies. Yeah, yeah, yeah, and it's yeah, and there's something
- 42:49so great and healing about that, Like when you meet a family member and
- 42:53you're like, oh, it makes sense. Yeah, I mean, thank
- 42:57you for that mutual friend. Kelly and I were talking about it in regards
- 43:00to like artistry and like you've texted someone you're like, I'm into this new
- 43:06thing like junk journally and they're like oh my god, I've been doing it
- 43:07for weeks too. Let's exchange pages where it just like makes you feel like
- 43:13you thought you were doing a solitary like activity and then it turns out like,
- 43:17like through distance and statistics and all of it, you were actually doing
- 43:22that with your friend and now you new thing to talk about. Yeah,
- 43:25which is also another great thing. And I think that I think that what
- 43:32this conversation is can serve as a reminder that community is so important and by
- 43:38isolating ourselves and a societal structure that forces us to not be in community is
- 43:45not healthy. And I know we've already touched on it with Wednesday, but
- 43:50like the refreshing thing about like Adam's family and my family is no, what
- 43:55matter what off the wall fucking shit you're gonna say about yourself, like someone's
- 44:00going to be like, oh hell yeah, like they just believe you.
- 44:05Like it's like I'm a tap dancer today and they're like, oh hell yeah.
- 44:08I have been at a funeral where there was a dress code and I
- 44:15couldn't adhere to the dress code, but I put on the specific scarf and
- 44:20when one of my aunts or when one of my mom's cousins complimented it.
- 44:24I was like, I thought it was my most Croatian piece of clothing,
- 44:28and he just went, you know what, that's the most Croatian scarf.
- 44:32It just went hell yah yeah. How often are you in a room and
- 44:37you just say something that's completely insane and off the wall and you yourself have
- 44:43come up with and someone's like, oh, hell yeah, yes, I
- 44:45love that part. I love that part. I think that when you're in
- 44:50a situation where you have good people in your family, it's it's a very
- 44:52lucky situation. And I think that's what the Adams family shows us, that
- 44:57you can build that and it's okay. Well, And I think the Adam's
- 45:00family also serves as a reminder And honestly this holds true because Morticia and Gomez
- 45:07still fuck. Is that love isn't finite? Like even more Titia with the
- 45:15twins, Like she understands that that is one of Gomez's ex girlfriends, but
- 45:20she also knows that these two women are important to Gomez infester because they grew
- 45:24up together and whatever, right, Like, I'm not closing myself off to
- 45:29this love Isn't finite? Yeah, I want to be a part of the
- 45:32community. You get to be a part of the community versus what we normally
- 45:37see in pop culture and entertainment, which is competition. Oh that's my husband's
- 45:42ex girlfriend. I hate U kind of crap, which is again doesn't serve
- 45:46any purpose other than being petty and shallow. Now, don't get me wrong,
- 45:51you know that we both like being petty. You know that I love
- 45:52being petty and shallow. But I think in this situation, the bigger picture
- 45:58is our community stronger for it if we're just acknowledging and respecting the roles that
- 46:04everyone plays in each other's lives. But also there's a security there too,
- 46:07because Martician Gomez are so secure in their relationship that you know, she can
- 46:13be accepting of these twins and still know that she's the one who's going to
- 46:16go home and not in like a oh well I get to go home with
- 46:20him kind of way, but like in a he chose me. But also
- 46:23like there's a nostalgia there, And I thought, actually, I think that's
- 46:29what ends up happening. When your family is also your community, and you
- 46:32make sure that that's a healthy community, you you kind of just get to
- 46:37set aside some bullshit yeah, because like you Penomopa may have snorted in a
- 46:44very life like okay, but yeah, you're just secure enough to where you're
- 46:52like, no, this is where I belong. No one's going to not
- 46:54make me feel like I don't belong to you today, And I think so.
- 46:59Have you said the musically Adams Family, you ask me these things like
- 47:02we get musicals here or or they actually get advertised first so I can find
- 47:07out about them, not get off. The only reason I saw it was
- 47:10because one of my former students and one of my friend's kids was doing it
- 47:15in their high school. Like I've seen the high school production. That's adorable
- 47:19though, Oh my gosh, that's so cute. Though they did a fabulous
- 47:22job. They have a fabulous program. And I do like high school productions
- 47:27because some high schools have money and where you're paying seventeen dollars to say basically
- 47:31like kind of community theater level work. Yeah, we used to have a
- 47:37high school in town like that. Yeah. Yeah. So the the story
- 47:42of the Adams Family musical revolves around Wednesday is going to get married, Like
- 47:47she has this boy that she's bringing home and he's going to propose, and
- 47:51he is very much a normy boy, and then his family comes home with
- 47:58him to like meet the Adams or whatever and the whole And I think what's
- 48:01so great about the Adams family and how they interact with the normies is it's
- 48:07never the Adams family that is like, oh no, you're a normy,
- 48:12you can't dance the mamushka. It's always like, oh no, please sit
- 48:16down and have Grandma's weird soup. Like, and then it's the normies that
- 48:22put up all of the boundaries to be like this is weird, this is
- 48:25scary, this is creepy because they are uncomfortable. But the Atoms are like
- 48:30everyone gets to come to the table. And I'm sure, like I think
- 48:32there is like part of Gomez that's like, how do Wednesday meet this boy?
- 48:37Out of every boy that Wednesday could have met, he's like young blonde
- 48:40mister America all the way Like yeah, how like almost semi Republican? How
- 48:46could this have happened? Right? And I think that's normal too. But
- 48:53I think I think there's a lot to say about like just trusting that a
- 48:58community will be open if they tell you that they're open to you existing,
- 49:04because even within communities that like, I know I deserve to take up space
- 49:07in because of so many people always making me feel like I do not deserve
- 49:14the space that I take up. I'm always like, no one likes me
- 49:19here. Oh yeah, I know that, feeling very very well. And
- 49:24today I was talking about Mastermind Taylor Swift's song where she goes no one wanted
- 49:30to play with me as a little kid, So I've been scheming like a
- 49:35criminal ever since to make them love me and make it seem effortless. I'm
- 49:40like, oh God, I am Taylor Swift and she is me because how
- 49:45often do I tell you, Jewels, I don't actually think I have friends.
- 49:47I think I tricked everyone into me my friends, Jewels, I don't
- 49:52have friends. I just guess lit everyone because I'm smarter than everyone. I
- 49:57am what Taylor Swift would call a mastermind. Yes, I'm not here on
- 50:02my own free will. Ever, No, I've just tricked everyone, I
- 50:07think, But I also think too when you do kind of come from what
- 50:10I Okay, so let me start overt dial it back. The thing that
- 50:15I also love is that even though the world does try to other them,
- 50:22it doesn't affect the kids. Yeah, versus our experience in being othered and
- 50:29how because I was talking about this in book club on Sunday, Like,
- 50:32I don't understand mixed kids who have a white parent and grew up predominantly in
- 50:38a white community who walked out of it completely unscathed by the torment that happens
- 50:45about your racial identity. Like, how did that happen? I would love
- 50:47to know, because that's not my story, that's not any of my siblings
- 50:51story, that's not anybody I know who's mixed story. So like, write
- 50:54a book about it. Tell us how you were able to walk through that
- 50:58fire unscathed, and just give us a very true yeah, because because when
- 51:02you're othered and the world others you, and you don't have a solid foundation.
- 51:08Not that I'm saying my family wasn't a solid foundation. There's other variables
- 51:12involved too, but it is really hard sometimes, and it can be really
- 51:16easy to allow that to break into you. And I think you and I
- 51:21experience that when spaces are closed off to us and then we have to and
- 51:27then we turn to each other and we're like, no, you're fucking smart,
- 51:29No, you're fucking smart. Oh my god, everyone into wanting to
- 51:34have coffee with me because I am a mastermind. No, seriously, like,
- 51:40as you know, as I listen to Taylor Swift and then I so
- 51:46so I listen to Taylor Swift, but then there are moments where I hear
- 51:51Taylors and it's very different. And I was at that damn Eras movie on
- 51:55Friday and She's like, no one wanted to play with me like a little
- 52:00kid, and I'm like, I'm bawling. I've heard the song eighteen hundred
- 52:04times. Yeah, And I told Carly, I said, I no saving
- 52:10it for my It's in my bonus episode this week. Never mind, got
- 52:15it? Tell me offline because I'll tell you I'm not and I'm impatient and
- 52:19you're my friend, so I can tell you yeah, and I've gasoled you
- 52:22into be my friend. So but no, Like when I was going to
- 52:29therapy because I could afford it, my therapist would tell me she continuously used
- 52:35the word genuine with me, and I think it was to rewrite the like
- 52:37internal dialogue that I have that like I'm lying to everyone and no, Brendan
- 52:44Lee Mulligan wore your bracelets and said your name out loud. Hey, guys,
- 52:47did you know that Brendan le Mulligan said my name out loud, and
- 52:51it was because you genuinely did a nice thing, and then you genuinely helped
- 52:55out the show just because you're smart and you notice something and you wanted the
- 53:00show to go. Well, it was like, I did do that.
- 53:05Fine, Yeah, And I think that's it too. And I think the
- 53:07other part of it is that there needs to be an understanding that you know,
- 53:10you're not everyone's cup of tea. I know we say that, oh,
- 53:14not everyone's cup of tea, but it's like no. But if you
- 53:15find yourself in spaces where the person who sort of curated that space and you
- 53:21don't jive, but you've met people in that space who were good for you,
- 53:24that's okay too. That's okay too. I do say a lot in
- 53:29private messages where no one, where people could screencap them and get me canceled,
- 53:34where I'm like, not everyone deserves friends. Honestly, I only screencap
- 53:42when I'm appalled and not everyone deserves friends. Hasn't done it? You like
- 53:49this bitch, just plant out set it? Well, you know, but
- 53:52sometimes and what I mean is not everyone deserves to be my friend also or
- 53:59your friend or anyone's friend, because not everyone deserves friends. Well, I
- 54:02think the other part of it too, is because we've always been othered in
- 54:06some sort of way. You understand the coded language when someone's othering, and
- 54:12that makes it really hard to be in that space. Oh yeah, I
- 54:15was talking today about an episode that will come out in February, so everyone
- 54:20will forget this spoiler. I was talking today about how it's almost so frustrating
- 54:30to be out in public because now that feminism and anti misogyny is trendy,
- 54:37which it has been trendy for a while, Like we turned it into a
- 54:39capitalistic game a while ago, but I feel like it had a resurgence links
- 54:45to the Women's March and pussy hats and all of that. So once it
- 54:49became girl Boss trendy, people's male partners jumped on to girl Boss trendy and
- 54:54learned our our language to fully gaslight us and trick us into believing that they
- 55:00were allies. And I was like, it's really hard when my friends believe
- 55:04that their boyfriends are doing all of the correct things. And then I'm like,
- 55:07no, he's lying. Oops, oops, he's lying. Yeah,
- 55:12he doesn't actually feel that way, he's just repeating things you were saying.
- 55:15Right, he just knows exactly what to say to get to that point.
- 55:20I think there's a I think it's Raven reviewed who did Yep, there's a
- 55:29really great video on the Instagram creator Raven revealed she's a black and Jewish educator.
- 55:36I found her through a guest on my show because I anyway, it's
- 55:40not why, because because it doesn't matter. She posted a video this week
- 55:45about ally versus accomplished, and she really gets into how the those two words
- 55:52are conflated all the time, and it's it's an it's a really great explanation
- 56:00and break down of the two and where even if it's unintended, someone might
- 56:07fall yeah, because language is nuanced and that's okay. Well, Jules were
- 56:14get into the five minute mark. So we've already talked about how we don't
- 56:17have notes for the movie because I guess it was perfect. I mean ten
- 56:22out of ten, i'n't have any like blatant nineties racism, no homophobia.
- 56:29No, I mean, it's really and truly it holds up in such a
- 56:32way that I was really I was. I'm grateful because think about what we've
- 56:37watched in the last couple of weeks, because you know what movie I hate
- 56:38from the nineties that people like to tell me I'm wrong and know it's not
- 56:42Alone. We know that I hate Home Alone. Okay, it's a fucking
- 56:45Dennis the Menace movie. My other grandma used to like make me watch Dennis
- 56:53A Menace because it was a VHS that she owned All the fucking time.
- 56:57I hated Dennis se Menace like I was surrounded by such nice and carrying great
- 57:02uncles and great aunts and humans that were older than me, because the where
- 57:07my mom grew up is like a multi generational like map of our family.
- 57:14And then I go, and then you want me to watch this fucking Dennis
- 57:15Amena's movie where this kid is annoying, and I mean, it's peak boy
- 57:21white privilege, white boy privilege, that's why. And then that old man
- 57:23is screaming the entire time because he hates that he's seven. I don't know
- 57:30he's got that stupid lisp. It's not a vibe I'm meant to I can't.
- 57:34I hated that movie and I made in the Home Alone movie. Yeah,
- 57:37well, I we can agree to disagree on Home Alone, but I
- 57:42what if I rewatched Home Alone because you made me for Stile Company, and
- 57:45I'm like, oh my god, wait, Home Alone might be the funniest
- 57:47movie I ever seen. And I was just a movie next year, and
- 57:52I just had a bad attitude, like a twenty year bad attitude. Oh
- 58:00I mean you were going to make me watch Twilight? What if I wish
- 58:02had a bad attitude this whole time about Twilight? But also I don't think
- 58:07I have. But instead I made you watch The Adams Family, which was
- 58:14perfect because it gave us clear examples of what relationships, whether family or sexy,
- 58:21should be, and it should be open, loving, accepting, blatan.
- 58:27It's just like, oh hell, I'm not saying that. Like if
- 58:30your cousin's mad, tell him he's being a dick. Yeah, But like
- 58:34there's adoration, like they adore each other, and it's not just like Gomez
- 58:38and Mantricia. They adore each other in a romantic way. But then like
- 58:42Fester adores the children. Yes, well, and no one screamed at Wednesday
- 58:45because she ran away into the cemetery and fell asleep somewhere, like no one
- 58:49did the whole like we were worried about you. We can't believe you did
- 58:52this to us. They were just like, oh, thank god we found
- 58:54Wednesday. Yeah on our property, which is a huge amount of property being
- 59:00in a statue, right, yeah, yeah, love ten ten ten.
- 59:07Good job Adam's family. I don't even think I was worried about this one,
- 59:13because I was like, no, Gomez and Mortitia's still fuck they let
- 59:16Wednesday be smart. You know. I know she has a bad vie,
- 59:23she has a bad reputation because she like tortures pugsy or whatever. But he
- 59:28is actively like, that's how they play. I don't know's I wouldn't mind
- 59:31it, doesn't mind it. He's having a fun time. That's so interesting.
- 59:37It's on him, Yeah, I guess, yeah, but yeah everybody,
- 59:43Well, next week will be on Jules's jewels. Do your plugs?
- 59:46I was like, what can we do to end the show? Should I
- 59:50just hit end? No? No? No, no, Hey, friends,
- 59:52Julia Washington with pop culture makes me jealous or he analyze pop culture through
- 59:57the lens of race or gender and sometimes both. This we are getting into
- 1:00:00the David Beckham docu series, the four part docuseries that Netflix released two weeks
- 1:00:07ago. My guest is Movies with mister Mario spoiler alert, loved it.
- 1:00:14I also host Jelly Pop's book Club, where we read book to screen adaptations
- 1:00:17and compare them to their screen counterparts. This week we are talking about Every
- 1:00:21Summer After which is not an adaptation, but we talk about why it would
- 1:00:24make a good adaptation, and we talk about what actors and actresses we'd like
- 1:00:30to see in that film. It is a very interesting conversation. I think
- 1:00:37that's it. I think that's all I have for this week for my show,
- 1:00:40and it's gonna be great. Listen, listen to my shit, support
- 1:00:45my work, join me on Patreon for free, for free, Padia dot
- 1:00:50com, slash Ulia Washington. Because we don't expect women to work for money.
- 1:00:54Well, guess what. I went to go link something that I had
- 1:00:58worked on and I had published a while ago, and it was gone and
- 1:01:05it was gone. So so sometimes websites get shut down and your work just
- 1:01:10so I have to go, now, go find my submission packet so I
- 1:01:14can pull it and just dump it on Patreon so it's there forever because websites
- 1:01:17tell me Jesus Christ, all right, Well, this week, on to
- 1:01:25all the men I've tolerated before. Did I tell you not to listen to
- 1:01:30jewels, can listen to this week's episode because it's the same stuff. So
- 1:01:35it's about final Girls, the strongest women in horror, and possibly the Globe.
- 1:01:39Yeah you said there was one that's coming that's probably gonna be too hard
- 1:01:44for the Patreon episode where we tell our ghost stories. Yeah, that's it.
- 1:01:49Yeah, but anyways, we're talking about all. It's me Elizabeth Kyle
- 1:01:53from our nineties Codependent episode and nineties heart Throb episode and our Religion episode and
- 1:02:00honestly, she's just a good fucking time and Darcy Darko from our two wrestling
- 1:02:07episodes. They're my spooky bitches. We talk about all of our favorite final
- 1:02:10girls and how when you get to when you are a woman watching a final
- 1:02:15girl in scary movies, you get to know that you two get to claw
- 1:02:21and fight and scream your way out of bad situations and you don't have to
- 1:02:24be polite about it. So it's a really great episode. I had a
- 1:02:29lot of fun doing it. If you joined the Patreon, the Patreon episode
- 1:02:31this week is Elizabeth and I telling ghost stories and U It has very pig
- 1:02:37Sleeper sleepover vibes because that recording was fucking three hours long, because we went
- 1:02:40into sleepover mode where we're like, honey, are we friends? We never
- 1:02:45talked? Wait, is it really? Did you really release a three hour
- 1:02:47episode? No? I said the audio was three hours and I cut it.
- 1:02:52I thought you told me you cut it, but I was how exhausted
- 1:02:55I was after that day of editing, and now I yeah, this is
- 1:02:59why I've always like we got I'm captured at an hour for recording. If
- 1:03:02I'm done within forty five minutes, even better because I don't have someone to
- 1:03:07send this off to to edit. Mike. Anyway, if you joined the
- 1:03:12Patreon free trial, you can just have that Ghost Stories episode for free.
- 1:03:16Or you can join one of our many tears. We have Halloween merch,
- 1:03:22We have a newsletter that gets you a discount code to the Halloween merch,
- 1:03:28and we have a blog where I write a thank you letter to the Final
- 1:03:30Girls and what they taught me about being strong and loud and messy and messy.
- 1:03:38All right, well everybody, wait, Oh you you didn't like formally
- 1:03:44say you were still comfy. I'm just assuming Oh yeah, I'm still Oh
- 1:03:47yeah, I said we had no notes. We have no notes? Would
- 1:03:51watch the Adams Family every day. AM going to get off this call and
- 1:03:54text one of my cousins. Did you know that we're the Adams Family?
- 1:03:58Like anyways? Yes, everyone, No, I have to I'm sorry.
- 1:04:13Prayers up for Brittany at noon Eastern. Have a happy Halloween. Armageddon is
- 1:04:24chuck full of nineties racism and homophobia. Next week we're doing Missus Doubtfire on
- 1:04:30my channel. Natalie's Gonna Die. Oh yeah. This will be the first
- 1:04:32time that I have watched a Robin Williams movie, even Aladdin where it's a
- 1:04:38cartoon, since Robin Williams has passed. And maybe I do a before video
- 1:04:43and an after video like people did for the Arastour. This was me walking
- 1:04:46into the air store. This will me walking out of the Arastore. Maybe
- 1:04:51I do that for watching Missus Doubtfire. But most importantly, stay cozy,
- 1:04:58stay comfy. Bye bye. If I keep keep waving jewels because the mouse
- 1:05:02isn't on, yeah I was kidd keep waving like three line acres is the place.
