- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, my name's Santasha Nabananga Bamblet. I'm a proud yr
- 0:04Speaker 1: the Order Kerni Whoalbury and a waddery woman. And before
- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I
- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming
- 0:22Speaker 1: through as this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing
- 0:27Speaker 1: and the storytelling of you to make a difference for
- 0:30Speaker 1: today and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money, She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money, the podcast
- 1:01Speaker 4: Millennials who want financial Freedom. Today, my friends, it is Friday,
- 1:05Speaker 4: which means it would be time to get the team together,
- 1:07Speaker 4: but Jessica is still in Japan living her best life.
- 1:10Speaker 4: But it's time for Beck and I to celebrate you,
- 1:12Speaker 4: our incredible She's on the Money community. Today we're going
- 1:15Speaker 4: to be sharing our favorite money wins. We're going to
- 1:17Speaker 4: be helping to answer a juicy money dilemma, which this
- 1:19Speaker 4: week is all about protecting yourself and your investment when
- 1:22Speaker 4: you purchase a property with your partner, but your deposit
- 1:25Speaker 4: amounts aren't equal. It's very specific, and we're going to
- 1:28Speaker 4: be unpacking something that you slid into our DMS about.
- 1:31Speaker 4: And this week we're talking what do you do when
- 1:34Speaker 4: you've been gifted a gift foucher but you can't afford
- 1:37Speaker 4: to use it? Ah, I feel like this one had
- 1:41Speaker 4: some really good responses from the community and I'm looking
- 1:44Speaker 4: forward to it. But before we get there, beck Hi,
- 1:48Speaker 4: it's just you and me bad I know, this is
- 1:50Speaker 4: so interesting. We're just hanging out, having a cup of tea,
- 1:53Speaker 4: doing a little potty record.
- 1:54Speaker 2: How's your week being?
- 1:55Speaker 5: My week has been very, very nice, very chill, picking
- 2:00Speaker 5: up a little bit, which is good because I make
- 2:02Speaker 5: it work hard, and you're going to make me work hard. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 5: I'll have im paster syndrome every single day of the week.
- 2:08Speaker 2: No, not you, not me, not me.
- 2:10Speaker 6: Nobody's really good.
- 2:11Speaker 2: And you know, just the sun's been out and it's
- 2:13Speaker 2: just been hasn't it been? Literally the best?
- 2:16Speaker 6: Like the best?
- 2:17Speaker 4: This is obviously dropping on Friday. Today's weather stunning stunning.
- 2:21Speaker 4: The weekend stunning. That's a long weekend. This weekend stunning.
- 2:25Speaker 4: I mean you're going to enjoy the long weekend. But
- 2:27Speaker 4: I am actually as we speak back, I mean Brisbane.
- 2:32Speaker 4: I'm not actually because we recorded this the day before
- 2:34Speaker 4: I left.
- 2:34Speaker 2: But I'm in Brisbane. Oh crazy, what are you doing that?
- 2:39Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, it's so exciting.
- 2:40Speaker 4: We're running out very first health and Wealth event with
- 2:43Speaker 4: our friends at LSKD where we're doing like a full
- 2:47Speaker 4: like health session, like a workout, kind of like have
- 2:50Speaker 4: some smoothies, have some health food, and then we're doing
- 2:53Speaker 4: like a wealth event where I then tell you how
- 2:55Speaker 4: to take.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Care of your money. That's signing it goes so well together.
- 2:58Speaker 4: So we're only doing one of them, and it's in
- 3:00Speaker 4: Brisbane at the moment, but if all goes well today,
- 3:03Speaker 4: my friends will be rolling out a few more of
- 3:06Speaker 4: them because I think they'll be popular.
- 3:07Speaker 6: Yes, do you want to Melbourne?
- 3:09Speaker 2: I will. If it goes well. It doesn't go so.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Well, I'll be like, oh yeah, haha, we don't have
- 3:14Speaker 4: the capacity.
- 3:15Speaker 6: True, maybe we'll never speak of it ever again.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I'll be like, I don't know what you're talking about.
- 3:19Speaker 4: But also, like the health and Wealth event, ye, like
- 3:22Speaker 4: those two words go really well together.
- 3:24Speaker 5: That's true, So it almost has to be done just
- 3:26Speaker 5: so you can think up clean exactly.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Been good, Yeah, it's been very good. I'm less nauseous.
- 3:33Speaker 4: That's good, which is stunning.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Get this, I can eat food and it doesn't come
- 3:39Speaker 2: back up.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Oh that this week only, this week only. I don't
- 3:42Speaker 4: know how long it's gonna last. We're not gonna like
- 3:44Speaker 4: jinx it knock on wood, all of those things.
- 3:46Speaker 2: But that's the best.
- 3:48Speaker 6: That's so exciting me.
- 3:49Speaker 4: I'm very excited to do so, Like I'm excited to
- 3:51Speaker 4: now go on a plane. I was terrified to go
- 3:53Speaker 4: on a plane because that could have been a very
- 3:54Speaker 4: awkward trip for not just me, everybody else involve.
- 3:59Speaker 5: There's nothing more than when not you, but someone in
- 4:02Speaker 5: your either your bus or your train or your plane
- 4:05Speaker 5: is not nauseated, and unfortunately have to see that.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It keeps me anxiety as well.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I mean, like if you've ever been pregnant, you know
- 4:12Speaker 4: it's not just nausea. It's like consistent gagging. So I
- 4:16Speaker 4: just sound like I'm going to be sick every two
- 4:18Speaker 4: seconds exactly, you know exactly what it's like, Like I
- 4:22Speaker 4: cannot wait. I know what's happening. Because Brooke is she's
- 4:26Speaker 4: the best video producer in the entire world hired by
- 4:29Speaker 4: She's on the money because you're also a video producer.
- 4:31Speaker 4: And I wouldn't want you to feel like I don't respond,
- 4:33Speaker 4: but I do.
- 4:34Speaker 2: That's very nice.
- 4:35Speaker 4: She's real mean sometimes, and I know she's been collecting
- 4:39Speaker 4: over the last few months all of those like little
- 4:42Speaker 4: videos and snippets of me, like mid record that we've
- 4:45Speaker 4: cut out, like that we cut out.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I know she's like piled them away.
- 4:51Speaker 6: We're not safe.
- 4:52Speaker 2: No, we're not safe.
- 4:52Speaker 6: I think especially you, You're especially not safe.
- 4:55Speaker 2: No.
- 4:55Speaker 4: And like I'm the easiest to pick on as well,
- 4:58Speaker 4: Like I feel like I just do oh whole heap
- 5:00Speaker 4: of weird stuff. But anyway, I want to get onto
- 5:03Speaker 4: the show. Yes, we have so much to get through today.
- 5:06Speaker 4: But first things first, Jess usually shares here her money
- 5:10Speaker 4: wins and confessions from the group. But guess what, I'm
- 5:13Speaker 4: in control again this week because Jess is not here,
- 5:15Speaker 4: so we are going roguan. I got to pick them
- 5:18Speaker 4: this week. Wow, I'm really excited about it. Are you ready?
- 5:21Speaker 6: I'm ready.
- 5:22Speaker 2: So, first, we have a money win from Kim.
- 5:25Speaker 4: She said, I hit my twenty thousand savings goal for
- 5:29Speaker 4: this year.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Siah are you joking? She did say money loss.
- 5:32Speaker 4: My puppy ended up in emergency care on the weekend.
- 5:35Speaker 4: But money wing guys don't forget. I've got twenty grand
- 5:38Speaker 4: in savings, so I don't have to worry about that bill.
- 5:41Speaker 6: Oh my god, that's great.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I also really love her mindset around that, like it's
- 5:46Speaker 4: not like, oh my gosh, money lost the dog, like
- 5:49Speaker 4: my savings are going to go backwards. She's like, look
- 5:51Speaker 4: at this thing that I can lean on that is
- 5:53Speaker 4: there for this exact purpose.
- 5:55Speaker 6: This is here for a reason.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Isn't that cool?
- 5:57Speaker 6: That's great?
- 5:57Speaker 2: Adore.
- 5:58Speaker 4: Also, she gets a special mention because, without being prompted
- 6:03Speaker 4: by me, she also uploaded this and it says also
- 6:06Speaker 4: VD will probably want to see a picture, and it
- 6:09Speaker 4: is a photo of her dog.
- 6:11Speaker 6: She knows you too well, you know me.
- 6:13Speaker 2: I love it all right.
- 6:15Speaker 4: Money in from Mahalia, she says, start a maternity leave today.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Congrats. She says, it's a little bit earlier than planned.
- 6:22Speaker 4: But I've been putting extra towards bills and stocking up
- 6:24Speaker 4: on items for months now, which means we're at least
- 6:27Speaker 4: six months.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Ahead on a majority of our bills and rates.
- 6:30Speaker 4: And I'm stocked up on all of the household items
- 6:33Speaker 4: like washing powder, softener, dishwasher tablets, liquid, and pet food,
- 6:37Speaker 4: which is gonna be coming in handy on a reduced
- 6:39Speaker 4: income soon. I'm stressed about the reduced income part, but
- 6:43Speaker 4: I'm trying to focus on the positives, on how we've
- 6:45Speaker 4: prepared so much to get to this point.
- 6:48Speaker 6: Yeah, that's a really, really good idea.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I didn't even think about. I mean, I'm pregnant. I'm
- 6:52Speaker 4: the worst pregnant person ever. Like, I have made no
- 6:55Speaker 4: real big purchases yet, and to the big purchases.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I have made a little truly not even that exciting.
- 7:02Speaker 4: But like stocking up on washing powder, dishwashing liquid, and
- 7:05Speaker 4: like dishwasher tablets, that's going to cut down your grocery
- 7:08Speaker 4: budgets so much when you go to one income. Yes,
- 7:11Speaker 4: and if you're shopping over a few months, you can
- 7:14Speaker 4: get them all on sale. Yes, that's so smart, really
- 7:17Speaker 4: good idea. All right, Jennifer, she's got a money loss
- 7:21Speaker 4: this week. She had to purchase a new fridge, but
- 7:24Speaker 4: she also gave us some money win. She's like, I'm
- 7:26Speaker 4: going to counteract the bad with the good. She said,
- 7:29Speaker 4: I was going to purchase the fridge the good guys,
- 7:31Speaker 4: but they were lazy and wouldn't get back to us
- 7:33Speaker 4: with whether they had it in stock or not. So
- 7:36Speaker 4: popped on over to JB High Fight, got free delivery,
- 7:39Speaker 4: took the old fridge away for free, and through my
- 7:41Speaker 4: husband's job, he got five percent off purchases through JB
- 7:44Speaker 4: High Fight, So we ended up saving more than two
- 7:47Speaker 4: hundred and fifty dollars.
- 7:48Speaker 6: WHOA, that's very good. That's a big money win.
- 7:51Speaker 4: She's also, you know, added a life win in here,
- 7:54Speaker 4: which I think all of us are going to be
- 7:56Speaker 4: a little bit envious of.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Are you ready?
- 7:57Speaker 6: I'm ready?
- 7:58Speaker 2: Life win. She's like, I didn't even have to clean
- 8:00Speaker 2: the old fridge before we threw it away.
- 8:02Speaker 6: Oh yes, how annoying is it.
- 8:04Speaker 4: To thrusting your fridge wiping it out like it's gross?
- 8:08Speaker 4: No thanks, no, no thanks? All right, I've got two
- 8:11Speaker 4: more for you, beck, Are you ready? This one is
- 8:14Speaker 4: from Renee? She said, I changed my home insurance, saved
- 8:17Speaker 4: four hundred dollars. Then girl masked myself into buying your
- 8:22Speaker 4: diceon air up because they're on sale everywhere you got to, you.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Gotta get it.
- 8:26Speaker 4: I appreciate that, Renee and then we have one last
- 8:29Speaker 4: one from our friend Mary, and she said, for the
- 8:32Speaker 4: first time in months, I haven't had to dip into
- 8:35Speaker 4: my savings.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Isn't that really good? Good on you get it, Mary.
- 8:41Speaker 6: Yeah, that's great, Mary.
- 8:42Speaker 4: I feel like that's so good. That's like a positive
- 8:44Speaker 4: money habit that.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I feel like so many of us struggle with, especially
- 8:48Speaker 2: at the moments.
- 8:48Speaker 4: We're in the middle of a cost of living crisis,
- 8:50Speaker 4: and I swear everything is fifty times.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Not exaggerating more expensive than it used to be.
- 8:55Speaker 6: Yah, so true.
- 8:56Speaker 2: It just feels that way. Abor Grapes of the Day
- 8:59Speaker 2: twelve dollars for like a little little bunch.
- 9:01Speaker 1: No.
- 9:02Speaker 4: I feel like I saw him main the other day
- 9:03Speaker 4: and it said one hundred dollars is equivalent to one
- 9:06Speaker 4: dollar in adult and I was.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Like, that's how it feels.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Yeah, that's true, actually what it feels.
- 9:11Speaker 2: And I was like, that's gross.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm actually curious to know how much you get
- 9:15Speaker 5: for a dollar back in like twenty years ago.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I don't know I could calculate it for it.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I mean, I could absolutely calculate it for you, but
- 9:21Speaker 4: we're not going to because it is time to do
- 9:23Speaker 4: Bex broke tips.
- 9:25Speaker 5: What have you got for us this week? Okay, so
- 9:27Speaker 5: this week I have one broke tip. Sorry, I have
- 9:29Speaker 5: my two broake tips, and then I've got one from myself.
- 9:32Speaker 5: A right, but like the the first one is what
- 9:35Speaker 5: I'm trying to say, thank you, Victoria. So my first
- 9:38Speaker 5: one comes from Jane, who says, I buy movie vouchers
- 9:40Speaker 5: through shot back money I've earned, so when you're having
- 9:44Speaker 5: a poor week, you can still go to the movies,
- 9:46Speaker 5: which I think is a really cool idea.
- 9:47Speaker 6: It's maybe something that.
- 9:48Speaker 5: Like, sure, if you're like a little bit broke, it's
- 9:49Speaker 5: not like your top priority, but it is also nice
- 9:52Speaker 5: to do things that make you feel good. If you
- 9:53Speaker 5: don't necessarily have a lot of money coming in, or
- 9:55Speaker 5: you can't do those little things, it can be really
- 9:57Speaker 5: hard for your mental health to be like I actually
- 9:59Speaker 5: done money and I can't do anything.
- 10:01Speaker 4: I feel like that's a really good one too, because
- 10:03Speaker 4: shopback's basically free money, Like if you're using shopback on
- 10:06Speaker 4: your purchases, it's cash back that you wouldn't have otherwise gotten,
- 10:09Speaker 4: and a lot of our community like using it as
- 10:11Speaker 4: kind of like a cheeky little savings account, kind of
- 10:14Speaker 4: like to the side for splurges because obviously, like if
- 10:17Speaker 4: you can't afford heaps, you're not going to pay for
- 10:19Speaker 4: movie tickets as well. Yes, but like they feel free
- 10:21Speaker 4: through shopbacks, so I feel like that's good. And also
- 10:24Speaker 4: like if you pre purchase them you kind of have
- 10:26Speaker 4: something to look forward to as well.
- 10:29Speaker 2: I like it.
- 10:29Speaker 5: I like it so and maybe instead of going out
- 10:33Speaker 5: and be like, oh my gosh, I've got to take
- 10:34Speaker 5: my partner or my friend out for dinner or something,
- 10:37Speaker 5: you go to the movies instead. It spend zero dollars
- 10:39Speaker 5: instead of spending your last fifty dollars or whatever it is.
- 10:42Speaker 4: So I don't know if you've ever done this, spepack.
- 10:44Speaker 4: When I was in Uni, I used to put my
- 10:46Speaker 4: dinner in a tupperware container with my housemate and then
- 10:48Speaker 4: we'd go to the movies. And I'd obviously take my
- 10:50Speaker 4: full handbag and put my dinner in the bottom of it,
- 10:52Speaker 4: but we'd have like dinner in a.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Movie, and I was like genius.
- 10:56Speaker 4: We also went on cheap Tuesdays, so we got like
- 10:59Speaker 4: the two for one because obviously we're not paying full
- 11:01Speaker 4: price to movie tickets in this house, absolutely not, so
- 11:04Speaker 4: we'd like package up our little dinner and have like
- 11:06Speaker 4: I don't know, a like movie theater picnic. They probably
- 11:09Speaker 4: won't like that, like don't come at me village cinemas.
- 11:11Speaker 4: I'm really sorry, true, I forgot, You're not meant to
- 11:14Speaker 4: do that. But like kind of for gold class and
- 11:17Speaker 4: table service. So I di wied totally totally under the table.
- 11:22Speaker 4: Don't tell anyone we said that. Good idea, all right?
- 11:24Speaker 2: Next what else you got for us?
- 11:25Speaker 5: Next one from Mindy who says, learn to tint your
- 11:29Speaker 5: own brows. It is so easy draw outline with pencil.
- 11:32Speaker 6: This this is.
- 11:33Speaker 5: Kind of like more so for any kind of oh
- 11:35Speaker 5: would say maintenance. It's still also something you wouldn't prioritize
- 11:38Speaker 5: if you are really really broke.
- 11:40Speaker 4: Absolutely, but this is going to save some money. This
- 11:43Speaker 4: is going to save some good money. It's going to
- 11:44Speaker 4: save some good money. And it's not only for eyebrows.
- 11:46Speaker 4: It's for you know, learn how to do your own head.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And I was about to be like, what other hair
- 11:51Speaker 2: are you tinting?
- 11:53Speaker 6: You know you can.
- 11:54Speaker 5: Tint your arm hairs if you want to, anywhere you want,
- 11:57Speaker 5: learn how to tint, learn how to cut, learn how
- 11:59Speaker 5: to and I know, like you know, I don't know
- 12:00Speaker 5: if you know this or not, but I've never been
- 12:01Speaker 5: to a headresser, so.
- 12:02Speaker 2: This one I'm quite aware. I'm quite aware. Not because
- 12:06Speaker 2: I can tell that is a stunning mullet, thank you.
- 12:09Speaker 2: In fact, do you look like a stun mullet.
- 12:14Speaker 4: You have bragged on the show a few times about
- 12:17Speaker 4: diying hair, and you.
- 12:18Speaker 6: Know what, don't you still have some?
- 12:20Speaker 5: Exactly? Don't be scared. Don't be scared to learn how
- 12:23Speaker 5: to do your nails. I don't do my nails, but
- 12:25Speaker 5: if you did do your nails. Learn how to ten
- 12:28Speaker 5: your eyebrows yourself, learn how to do a little wax yourself.
- 12:31Speaker 5: I do all the kind of like beauty maintenance, all
- 12:33Speaker 5: these kind of things.
- 12:34Speaker 2: All right, beck, I want to know what is your
- 12:36Speaker 2: broke tip of the week?
- 12:37Speaker 5: Okay, So mine, probably as usual, is a little bit
- 12:40Speaker 5: rogue and maybe not all that relatable, but.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Not relatable content.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I love it.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Let's put it on a podcast and send it live
- 12:47Speaker 4: to the one point six million people.
- 12:49Speaker 5: A really good idea. Yes, that's a really good idea.
- 12:52Speaker 5: That's what I was hoping to do today.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Ye actually great.
- 12:54Speaker 5: I was talking to our fill in producer Indiana yesterday
- 12:57Speaker 5: and I was talking about how we're both talking about
- 12:59Speaker 5: how we go to the gym and we use the showers,
- 13:02Speaker 5: we use, the hair dryers, we use the they have
- 13:04Speaker 5: like little like moisturizers, Yeah, tampons, pads, all this stuff
- 13:08Speaker 5: at your gym.
- 13:09Speaker 6: I paid.
- 13:09Speaker 2: You're already paying for your gym membership. Yeah, you paid
- 13:12Speaker 2: it all the week.
- 13:13Speaker 5: And also it's a really good way, like if this
- 13:15Speaker 5: is more so for saving on utilities like energy, water. Literally,
- 13:19Speaker 5: if you do it for long enough and if you
- 13:20Speaker 5: do it enough times, it will have an impact.
- 13:22Speaker 6: It will have an impact.
- 13:23Speaker 4: I mean, if you don't shower at home, you're going
- 13:25Speaker 4: to say a lot of money exactly.
- 13:27Speaker 5: And it's a really good way to get you out
- 13:28Speaker 5: of the house and maybe go to the gym. If
- 13:30Speaker 5: you didn't want to go to the gym, you're like,
- 13:31Speaker 5: I want to save money on essentials that could be
- 13:33Speaker 5: moisturizer pads, tampon's hair dryer everything.
- 13:37Speaker 6: They have everything there.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Okay, So I can and will save money on doing
- 13:41Speaker 4: my eyebrows, and I can and will save money doing
- 13:43Speaker 4: you know, my own pedicures and manicures.
- 13:45Speaker 2: You are not going to get me in the gym
- 13:49Speaker 2: have fun.
- 13:49Speaker 5: What if you couldn't afford a hair dryer, and you're like,
- 13:51Speaker 5: but I do have gym membership. Maybe I'll just go
- 13:53Speaker 5: and use the gym's hair dryer while you're there. Maybe
- 13:56Speaker 5: I'll do I've canceled the gym membership and buy the
- 13:58Speaker 5: hair dry That's actually very good idea. That's a good
- 14:02Speaker 5: way to do like two things in one, you know
- 14:03Speaker 5: what I mean if you go the gym anyway.
- 14:05Speaker 2: If you want to hate yourself and go to the gym,
- 14:07Speaker 2: you do that.
- 14:08Speaker 5: Exactly, and take advantage of their utilities water, energy, electricity.
- 14:13Speaker 2: GENI, anything else for those who are interested.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Exactly if you're interested, also if you're there is also
- 14:19Speaker 5: a little bit more more rogue than that. If you're
- 14:21Speaker 5: in a Campa van and you're driving around Australia, very
- 14:24Speaker 5: relatable content and you don't want to get an Airbnb
- 14:28Speaker 5: or a hotel because you have a van. You do
- 14:31Speaker 5: have a camp of van. But if you wanted like
- 14:32Speaker 5: a knight of luxury, you want to have a good
- 14:34Speaker 5: shower or something like that. This is also where would
- 14:36Speaker 5: come in handy. You have a nice hot shower in
- 14:37Speaker 5: a gym anyway, that's my But do.
- 14:39Speaker 4: You have to pay for the gym, or if you
- 14:40Speaker 4: got like one of these memberships where it's any club
- 14:42Speaker 4: in Australia.
- 14:43Speaker 6: Yeah, I use anytime finish. I think I should say
- 14:45Speaker 6: that just in case.
- 14:46Speaker 4: Yeah, no, give them a little plug, because you're abusing
- 14:48Speaker 4: them enough that they probably deserve the free advertising.
- 14:50Speaker 6: I should be paying their utilities at this point, I.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Couldn't agree more.
- 14:53Speaker 4: All right, Well, let's go to a really quick break
- 14:56Speaker 4: because on the flip side, we're going to be talking
- 14:57Speaker 4: about a money dilemma of how to protect your yourself
- 15:00Speaker 4: and your investment when you're going to purchase a property
- 15:02Speaker 4: with a partner but you don't have equal deposit amounts.
- 15:05Speaker 4: And we're also going to be unpacking something that you
- 15:07Speaker 4: slid into our DMS about this week.
- 15:09Speaker 2: We're talking about what do you do when you've been gifted.
- 15:11Speaker 4: A gift voucher that you can't afford to you so
- 15:14Speaker 4: don't go anywhere, guys. All right, beck, we are back.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Let's have a listen to this week's money dilemma. Hi, there,
- 15:27Speaker 4: have you got a money dilemma you just can't solve that.
- 15:29Speaker 4: She's on the Money team is.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Here to help.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Every week we tackle your dilemmas both big and small
- 15:35Speaker 4: to answer your most burning money, career and life questions.
- 15:38Speaker 4: To get involved, simply head to our website and leave
- 15:41Speaker 4: us a short voice recording and you might just find
- 15:43Speaker 4: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 15:46Speaker 4: this week's money dilemma.
- 15:50Speaker 7: Hello, she's on the money question. What can you legally
- 15:56Speaker 7: do to protect yourself when purchasing a property with your partner,
- 16:00Speaker 7: significant other, husband, et cetera. If you have deposit amounts
- 16:05Speaker 7: that aren't equally matched. For example, if I put in
- 16:09Speaker 7: eighty percent of the deposit and they put in twenty percent.
- 16:11Speaker 7: What can be done so you can protect your assets
- 16:14Speaker 7: if that relationship doesn't work in the future.
- 16:17Speaker 2: Thanks, this is a good one, Beck, What would you do? I?
- 16:22Speaker 2: She said legal?
- 16:24Speaker 6: Legally?
- 16:24Speaker 2: What can you legally do? Not? What would Beck actually do?
- 16:27Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 16:27Speaker 2: Could you legally?
- 16:29Speaker 4: I was going to give only illegal Yeah, that's why
- 16:31Speaker 4: I was disclaiming it.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Well, in that case,
- 16:35Speaker 5: I have nothing, But you're like to start a fight.
- 16:38Speaker 5: Start a fight, broke up and you know to deal
- 16:41Speaker 5: with it.
- 16:41Speaker 4: No, I'm just kidding, because if you're trying to separate it,
- 16:45Speaker 4: you probably have broken up back right, So we're forward planning.
- 16:48Speaker 2: What's your exit plan? What's your exit strategy?
- 16:51Speaker 5: Gosh, you know, v I do you want me to
- 16:54Speaker 5: just take because you know I'll never probably I'll probably
- 16:57Speaker 5: never find myself in this position, So I'm I'm happy for.
- 16:59Speaker 2: You you will.
- 17:00Speaker 4: So first things first, we need to do a few things. One,
- 17:03Speaker 4: we need to have open, honest conversations about where we're
- 17:06Speaker 4: going and what we want to do. So, if let's
- 17:08Speaker 4: pretend it's around one hundred thousand dollars and you've contributed
- 17:11Speaker 4: seventy thousand and your partner has contributed thirty thousand, that
- 17:15Speaker 4: is a significant difference in deposit amount, Like we're not
- 17:18Speaker 4: talking about two or three thousand dollars where it's kind
- 17:20Speaker 4: of like here or there in the grand scheme of things,
- 17:23Speaker 4: it all comes out in the wash, Like that's significant.
- 17:26Speaker 4: Are you going to be splitting the mortgage in the
- 17:29Speaker 4: same percentages or are you just going to be fifty
- 17:31Speaker 4: to fifty after that? If so, if you're selling the house,
- 17:34Speaker 4: will you be getting that seventy thousand dollars back before profit?
- 17:39Speaker 4: What does that look like? Are you going to purchase
- 17:41Speaker 4: the house? And then if you know your exit plan,
- 17:44Speaker 4: is no worries we'll leave when we get our deposit back,
- 17:48Speaker 4: we'll split it equally. Why would you do that if
- 17:51Speaker 4: you contributed literally seventy percent and they contributed thirty. So
- 17:55Speaker 4: I think it's important to have that open, honest conversation first. Yes,
- 17:58Speaker 4: you could take it a step further, get what's called
- 18:00Speaker 4: a binding financial agreement, which I think is really important,
- 18:04Speaker 4: especially if you're like, oh, I don't really know, it's
- 18:07Speaker 4: never going to be fifty to fifty, Like it just
- 18:10Speaker 4: makes you a little bit more financially secure, and I
- 18:13Speaker 4: think that's really important. The other thing is understanding property
- 18:17Speaker 4: ownership and that there's not just one way to own
- 18:19Speaker 4: a property. So the first thing that popped into my
- 18:21Speaker 4: head was are you going to be tenants in common
- 18:25Speaker 4: or are you going to be joint tenants? So if
- 18:28Speaker 4: you're a joint tenant, that means that each owner has
- 18:31Speaker 4: an undivided equal share in the whole amount of the land,
- 18:34Speaker 4: and the premise of one means that their share passes
- 18:37Speaker 4: to the other joint owner if they passed away, Like Beck,
- 18:40Speaker 4: you or and I are in a relationship, we buy
- 18:41Speaker 4: a house together, I die yesterday. It means automatically becomes
- 18:46Speaker 4: entirely your house. Is that how it's going to work.
- 18:49Speaker 4: Is that what you're comfortable with? If so, that's fine.
- 18:52Speaker 4: But the flip side is tenants in common, and that's
- 18:55Speaker 4: where each party has a very well defined share.
- 18:58Speaker 2: In that property and in the land.
- 19:00Speaker 4: And it could be you know, fifty to fifty, it
- 19:02Speaker 4: could be that seventy thirty that we were talking about,
- 19:05Speaker 4: or any other percentage. So it really depends are you
- 19:09Speaker 4: going to be going equal on the mortgage repayments?
- 19:12Speaker 2: And like who owns the house?
- 19:13Speaker 4: Like you know, you might have contributed seventy percent of
- 19:16Speaker 4: the deposit, but do you own seventy percent of the house?
- 19:19Speaker 7: Right?
- 19:19Speaker 4: What does that conversation look like? How does that work?
- 19:21Speaker 4: Where are we going with it? So I think it's
- 19:23Speaker 4: really important to have these open, honest conversations of like, okay,
- 19:27Speaker 4: like hypothetically if we break up, and it sounds bad
- 19:30Speaker 4: because no one wants to talk about breaking up, right,
- 19:32Speaker 4: But I think the best time to have these conversations
- 19:36Speaker 4: is when everything sunshine and roses, like, yes, we're so
- 19:39Speaker 4: in love together. Yes, I want the best for you
- 19:41Speaker 4: and you want the best for me. Why aren't we
- 19:43Speaker 4: making those decisions and putting them on paper. Now where
- 19:45Speaker 4: I go, No, if we broke up, I mean, if
- 19:47Speaker 4: you cheat on me, Beck.
- 19:48Speaker 2: We've got to have a fight.
- 19:50Speaker 4: But if everything worked out in our relationship hasn't, this
- 19:54Speaker 4: is what I would want for you. And you go, yeah, okay,
- 19:56Speaker 4: that seems fair. Let's do it when we're level headed
- 19:59Speaker 4: and still in love and want the best for each other.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Because to me, that's the kindest outcome. And also, those
- 20:05Speaker 4: conversations suck when you haven't had them and now you're
- 20:08Speaker 4: trying to have them with a partner you don't even
- 20:10Speaker 4: want to answer.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Text messages from. So I think it's important to.
- 20:14Speaker 4: I guess, be open and honest, Like if you're at
- 20:17Speaker 4: a point where you're buying a property with a partner,
- 20:21Speaker 4: protect yourself. And I mean you said protect yourself and
- 20:24Speaker 4: your investment. It's an investment. We don't put money in
- 20:27Speaker 4: hopefully get less back. So put it in, put a
- 20:30Speaker 4: plan in place, and you know, sign off on it
- 20:32Speaker 4: even if it doesn't. And I don't want to say
- 20:34Speaker 4: even if it isn't legally binding, because all of the
- 20:37Speaker 4: estate planning lawyers in my DMS will blow up at me.
- 20:40Speaker 2: But sometimes we just don't have the money to pay
- 20:42Speaker 2: for an estate planning lawyer.
- 20:43Speaker 4: So at least, at the very least, have that open,
- 20:46Speaker 4: honest conversation and go, well, Beck, this is what I
- 20:50Speaker 4: would do.
- 20:50Speaker 2: Yes, does that make sense?
- 20:52Speaker 6: That's totally makes sense.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Let's just be kind to each other.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Yeah, and also, congrats on getting to a point where
- 20:57Speaker 5: you have a deposit.
- 20:59Speaker 2: That's big dog, isn't it.
- 21:00Speaker 6: That's really really cool.
- 21:01Speaker 2: That is very cool. All right, moving on, Okay, I'm
- 21:05Speaker 2: so excited for this, are you? Actually?
- 21:06Speaker 6: I'm really excited.
- 21:07Speaker 4: We have a DM and I'm very excited about it
- 21:10Speaker 4: because every single week someone slides into our DMS about
- 21:13Speaker 4: what to do with a bit of a dilemma. Sometimes
- 21:16Speaker 4: it's spicy, sometimes not. This week we received a dilemma
- 21:20Speaker 4: and it sounded a lot like this.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Hi, she's on the money. I have a money dilemma.
- 21:25Speaker 4: My friend kindly gifted me a one hundred dollars gift
- 21:28Speaker 4: voucher to a very very fancy and SPANOSPA for my
- 21:31Speaker 4: thirtieth birthday.
- 21:33Speaker 2: That's nice.
- 21:35Speaker 4: However, every treatment is way out of my budget, so
- 21:39Speaker 4: I just thought, you know what, I'll have my eyebrows
- 21:41Speaker 4: done well.
- 21:43Speaker 2: The voucher comes.
- 21:43Speaker 4: With terms and conditions that say the minimum treatment is
- 21:47Speaker 4: ninety minutes and it needs to be used within six months.
- 21:51Speaker 4: The cheapest option would actually leave me out of pocket
- 21:54Speaker 4: by more than one hundred and sixty dollars once I've
- 21:56Speaker 4: used the voucher.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I simply can't afford this right now.
- 21:59Speaker 6: What I do?
- 22:00Speaker 4: Give the voucher back to her, try to sell it
- 22:03Speaker 4: on Facebook marketplace, or do I just let this blow
- 22:05Speaker 4: over and just waste it. I'd hate to waste her money,
- 22:08Speaker 4: but it's honestly not a priority right now to contribute
- 22:11Speaker 4: so much money to a massage. HM.
- 22:15Speaker 6: I totally know this feeling.
- 22:17Speaker 5: It's like, you know, when you get any package ever
- 22:19Speaker 5: and there's like a one hundred dollars naked wines Thatchy there, and.
- 22:23Speaker 6: You're like, oh my god.
- 22:24Speaker 5: If I use this and you go online, you're like, oh,
- 22:25Speaker 5: I have to spend at least seven thousand.
- 22:27Speaker 6: Dollars, you know, And so it's the worst.
- 22:30Speaker 4: And so I was like, okay, this is actually imagine
- 22:32Speaker 4: if that was your thirtieth birthday as well.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Yeah, and you don't want to like, yes, you want
- 22:36Speaker 5: to use it, but one hundred and sixty bucks there's
- 22:38Speaker 5: a lot of money. Maybe, Like I would say, sit
- 22:40Speaker 5: on it until maybe a month or two out of
- 22:42Speaker 5: the actual expiration thing, and if you still can't afford it,
- 22:46Speaker 5: then I would just have a nice, honest, open conversation
- 22:49Speaker 5: with the friend and be like, this is the situation.
- 22:51Speaker 5: I want it to be used, and I want maybe you.
- 22:54Speaker 2: To use it. Yeah, that's kind.
- 22:56Speaker 5: I think it's kind. Or maybe your friend will be like, oh,
- 22:59Speaker 5: I'm so sorry. I'm going to give you one hundred
- 23:00Speaker 5: and sixty dollars and you can go get a nice treatment. Upe.
- 23:04Speaker 2: I mean that's how i'd solve it, because I'd feel
- 23:06Speaker 2: bloody awful.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel like I don't know, I've got a
- 23:10Speaker 4: bone to pick with the spa.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Why are you selling one hundred dollars.
- 23:13Speaker 4: Vouchers if you don't even have a service. That's one
- 23:15Speaker 4: hundred dollars true?
- 23:17Speaker 6: What the hell I did you even think of that?
- 23:19Speaker 2: Like? Why are you putting terms and conditions on it?
- 23:21Speaker 4: Like I can almost guarantee that Beck if I went, oh,
- 23:24Speaker 4: I'm gonna buy Beck one hundred dollars voucher to a SPA.
- 23:27Speaker 4: In my head, you'd just be able to use that
- 23:30Speaker 4: on like whatever you want, Like I would be mortified
- 23:34Speaker 4: to find out that they then put a ninety minute
- 23:37Speaker 4: cap on it and then you had to spend more,
- 23:38Speaker 4: Like that wasn't the purpose of me giving you a voucher,
- 23:42Speaker 4: Like I wanted you to go to have a really
- 23:43Speaker 4: relaxing time on me, not have a financially expensive time
- 23:48Speaker 4: or me. Yeah, do you know what I mean? Like,
- 23:49Speaker 4: I feel like that doesn't make a lot of sense.
- 23:52Speaker 4: So if you're confident enough, I'd pick up the phone
- 23:55Speaker 4: and just have a conversation with whoever answers, Like obviously
- 23:58Speaker 4: you're calling the SPA disclaimer that, but call the spar
- 24:01Speaker 4: and be like, hey, like why like what can I
- 24:04Speaker 4: use the one hundred dollars for? Like it's not within
- 24:06Speaker 4: my budget? You know, could I break it up? Could
- 24:09Speaker 4: I actually use it for this eyebrow wax? I know
- 24:11Speaker 4: your terms and conditions say ninety minutes, but that doesn't
- 24:13Speaker 4: feel like it's in line with fair trading if we're honest,
- 24:17Speaker 4: Like I don't want to be that Karen, But like
- 24:19Speaker 4: I also go, that's not very fair because also if
- 24:22Speaker 4: they do offer cheaper services, hey, like I feel like
- 24:26Speaker 4: that's quite reasonable. You're not missing your money, like my
- 24:29Speaker 4: friend paid you one hundred dollars, I in turn got
- 24:32Speaker 4: this voucher. I would now like one hundred dollars worth
- 24:35Speaker 4: of services. If an eyebrow, you know, wax is thirty dollars,
- 24:38Speaker 4: let's say, can you just break it up and give
- 24:41Speaker 4: me three of those or four foot the extra ten dollars?
- 24:43Speaker 2: Yeah, like you know what I mean?
- 24:45Speaker 4: Like, maybe try and negotiate it, Like I can completely
- 24:48Speaker 4: understand that the terms and conditions might say that. I
- 24:50Speaker 4: don't think that they stand up because that feels a
- 24:52Speaker 4: bit dodged wack. But yeah, I would do that. But
- 24:56Speaker 4: in saying that, let's pretend that's all kosher. Sure, honestly
- 25:00Speaker 4: I wouldn't say anything to the friend at all. I
- 25:03Speaker 4: don't feel like this is their problem. Yes, I also
- 25:07Speaker 4: wouldn't want them feeling bad. But for me, if I
- 25:10Speaker 4: gift you something back, I would never be offended if
- 25:13Speaker 4: you regifted it, like if it doesn't serve that purpose.
- 25:16Speaker 4: But the gift I gave you served the purpose when
- 25:18Speaker 4: I gave it to you, and it was to make
- 25:20Speaker 4: you feel thought of and you know you feel special
- 25:22Speaker 4: and you you know, might use it.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Or might not.
- 25:25Speaker 4: But ultimately I'm giving you a gift because it's an
- 25:28Speaker 4: act of kindness from my behalf going, Hey, I really
- 25:31Speaker 4: want to show my gratitude and how much I love you,
- 25:33Speaker 4: and here's this gift.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Did you feel like you got that out of that
- 25:38Speaker 2: gift when your friend gave it to you?
- 25:40Speaker 6: Yeah, you probably. That's a good question. I think that though.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Why do I need to keep the gift?
- 25:43Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 25:44Speaker 7: True?
- 25:44Speaker 6: True?
- 25:44Speaker 1: True?
- 25:45Speaker 2: Why does it matter what I do with the gift?
- 25:46Speaker 6: You wouldn't resell it, you would regift it.
- 25:48Speaker 4: Oh no, no, no, like you could sell it, you
- 25:50Speaker 4: could regift it. I don't mind what you do with it.
- 25:52Speaker 4: But sure the purpose of the gift happened. Yeah, Okay,
- 25:56Speaker 4: it wasn't. Oh she didn't even care. She doesn't have it. Well,
- 25:59Speaker 4: I gave it to her. She felt appreciated. You know,
- 26:01Speaker 4: if you really want to get in the nitty gritty
- 26:02Speaker 4: when you post on Facebook, marketplace, hide it from your
- 26:05Speaker 4: friends when you post it. True, that just feels like
- 26:07Speaker 4: the smart thing to do. But I think it's one
- 26:09Speaker 4: of those things where the gift did technically serve its purpose.
- 26:13Speaker 4: And that's why I'm such a fan of I guess regifting,
- 26:16Speaker 4: like because if someone gifts me something and it's a
- 26:18Speaker 4: really thoughtful present. Pretend it's my favorite candle, Like I've
- 26:22Speaker 4: got a favorite candle, loll but I know what it is,
- 26:24Speaker 4: do you know, like the Marco and Co candles.
- 26:27Speaker 2: It's like beachy one.
- 26:28Speaker 4: I don't know what I'm running at our sight now anyway, Anyway,
- 26:31Speaker 4: my favorite candle ever. But let's pretend somebody gifted me
- 26:33Speaker 4: that I've already been gifted, like two of them. I've
- 26:35Speaker 4: got them in my draw. Do I add it to
- 26:37Speaker 4: that and just let it sit there? Or when your
- 26:40Speaker 4: birthday comes up back, do I go, oh, my gosh,
- 26:42Speaker 4: this is my favorite candle.
- 26:44Speaker 2: That's gonna love it. I'm gonna give her one. Yeah,
- 26:46Speaker 2: the gift for me.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Served a purpose. I feel really heard from my friend.
- 26:50Speaker 4: I feel like my friend really thought about me. But
- 26:53Speaker 4: also that gift serving another purpose and that I don't
- 26:55Speaker 4: have to buy.
- 26:55Speaker 2: A present to give to someone else.
- 26:57Speaker 4: Yes, so you could regift it, you could sell it,
- 27:00Speaker 4: you could you know, call and negotiate, but I don't
- 27:02Speaker 4: think your friend needs to be involved. Okay, your friend
- 27:05Speaker 4: was just trying to do something really nice and to
- 27:08Speaker 4: be honest, if you came to me back and said, hey,
- 27:10Speaker 4: the voucher that you gave me can't do anything with
- 27:13Speaker 4: I'm just going to feel bad unless you want to
- 27:15Speaker 4: have that conversation and you're really close to them.
- 27:17Speaker 2: But that's my take.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Yeah, Okay, while we're on completely different ends of the spectrum.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Here, I know, but like, also, I think I'm a
- 27:23Speaker 4: bit more I don't know fluffy when it comes to
- 27:26Speaker 4: gift giving because I think it's really about the act
- 27:28Speaker 4: of gift giving, not necessarily the outcome. It's like the
- 27:31Speaker 4: thought that counts, right, Yeah, so like why it's the
- 27:33Speaker 4: thought not counting here?
- 27:34Speaker 6: Yep, that's true.
- 27:35Speaker 2: So very good point.
- 27:37Speaker 4: We did ask the community what did they say? We said,
- 27:39Speaker 4: what would you do if you were in this situation?
- 27:42Speaker 4: Thirty seven percent of you said, we'd give the voucher
- 27:45Speaker 4: back to our friend, forty eight percent of you said
- 27:47Speaker 4: we'd sell it, and fourteen percent of you said, I'm
- 27:50Speaker 4: just not.
- 27:51Speaker 2: Going to use it. I'm going to let it go
- 27:52Speaker 2: to waste. Don't do that, I see. Don't let something
- 27:55Speaker 2: go to waste.
- 27:56Speaker 6: Yes, try not to.
- 27:57Speaker 4: But you know, the next question we are was if
- 28:00Speaker 4: you found out your friend sold a present you gifted
- 28:03Speaker 4: them or marketplace, how would you feel. Thirty percent of
- 28:06Speaker 4: you said I'd feel upset and angry even if I
- 28:08Speaker 4: knew the situation. I think you need to have a
- 28:11Speaker 4: hard think about your values here and why you even
- 28:14Speaker 4: gifted it to them in the first place.
- 28:16Speaker 5: Oh true, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think it's I don't know. Yeah,
- 28:18Speaker 5: that's fair. I mean, I can see both sides, but.
- 28:21Speaker 4: I can totally see both sides. But like, I also
- 28:23Speaker 4: very much are like, it's the thought that counts.
- 28:26Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 28:28Speaker 4: Seventy percent of you said i'd understand given the situation.
- 28:32Speaker 4: We said, do you think it seems ungrateful to give
- 28:35Speaker 4: a present back? Thirty eight percent of you said yes,
- 28:39Speaker 4: and I agree.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I agree. I wouldn't give a present back. I didn't
- 28:42Speaker 2: give it back.
- 28:43Speaker 4: I would find another purpose for it, because I don't
- 28:45Speaker 4: want you to think that the.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Thought wasn't worth it.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Sixty two percent of you said no, I don't think
- 28:51Speaker 4: it's ungrateful. We then obviously opened our DMS and said,
- 28:55Speaker 4: give us your.
- 28:56Speaker 2: Two cents, and here are some of the responses back.
- 28:59Speaker 4: So, someone said, isn't there rules on how long gift
- 29:02Speaker 4: cards need to last? Now?
- 29:04Speaker 2: Yes, true, Yes, they can't expire.
- 29:06Speaker 6: It can expire.
- 29:08Speaker 5: They can't.
- 29:08Speaker 2: Well, they've got your money, right.
- 29:10Speaker 4: Like, you can't be like hahaha, it's not going to
- 29:12Speaker 4: work after this amount of time.
- 29:14Speaker 2: True, someone said.
- 29:15Speaker 4: I think offering it back and kindly explaining before selling
- 29:18Speaker 4: it would be polite.
- 29:20Speaker 2: Great. She could regift it to someone in her circle
- 29:23Speaker 2: that knows she could use it, perhaps somebody who they
- 29:26Speaker 2: know already goes to that spa.
- 29:27Speaker 5: True.
- 29:29Speaker 6: Or to stand outside the spar and be like, you
- 29:30Speaker 6: want one hundred bucks off your treatment?
- 29:32Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, stand out the front and be like, hey,
- 29:35Speaker 4: I've got this voucher.
- 29:35Speaker 2: Are you going in there?
- 29:37Speaker 6: Just have someone who looks nice.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 4: It's like when you give your parking ticket to the
- 29:42Speaker 4: next PERI. It's like my favorite thing to do, all right. Next,
- 29:46Speaker 4: someone said, we need to change your mindset. My friend,
- 29:49Speaker 4: I am your friend. She said, I don't have many friends,
- 29:51Speaker 4: but it's all about open and honest communication. In this circumstance,
- 29:56Speaker 4: You've got enough friends, I promise. Next someone said, let
- 29:59Speaker 4: it expire or let them know that the.
- 30:01Speaker 2: Terms and conditions suck. She might not have known and
- 30:03Speaker 2: gift it to somebody else too in the future.
- 30:06Speaker 1: Oh.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Point.
- 30:07Speaker 6: It's a very good point.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Because if Becky, you pretended to love the gift that
- 30:11Speaker 2: I gave you.
- 30:12Speaker 4: I'd be like, that's sick. I'm going to get it
- 30:13Speaker 4: for Indy when her birthday comes up. And then Indy's like, fuck,
- 30:15Speaker 4: she got me one of those gift vouchers that you.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Got that you just can't use about me behind my back.
- 30:22Speaker 2: We would never, No, you wouldn't.
- 30:25Speaker 6: You would just sell this whole cycle, just give gift everything.
- 30:28Speaker 2: No, it's true. Someone else said, if she's a true friend,
- 30:31Speaker 2: she's gonna understand. Just talk to her about it.
- 30:34Speaker 4: Someone else is on the same page as me and said,
- 30:36Speaker 4: ring up the SPA and tell them that they need
- 30:38Speaker 4: to be flexible with their.
- 30:39Speaker 2: Terms and conditions.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Seriously, someone said, ask other clothes, family or friends if
- 30:44Speaker 4: they would like it so it doesn't go to waste,
- 30:46Speaker 4: or ask for an extension, which I think is very fair.
- 30:49Speaker 4: Extension noneth less, like six months is not enough time.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Someone else has said, and I'll give you two more
- 30:54Speaker 4: of these. I'd regift it to someone in a better
- 30:56Speaker 4: financial position. I'd give it to my mum or something
- 30:58Speaker 4: like that. And then someone said, sell it or gift
- 31:01Speaker 4: it to someone close to you. Just pass on the
- 31:03Speaker 4: good vibes. That's what it was for like that, because
- 31:07Speaker 4: I just feel like when you're giving a gift, it's the.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Thought that counts, bought that counts. Like that's what tend.
- 31:12Speaker 4: I gave you a mug, and I go, beck, I
- 31:15Speaker 4: picked this mug because I thought you'd really love it,
- 31:17Speaker 4: but then it turns out you just drink out of
- 31:19Speaker 4: drink bottle and you're never going to use it.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Does the thought go to waste there? I don't think
- 31:24Speaker 2: it does never.
- 31:26Speaker 4: So if you regifted it, you'd be like, well, it
- 31:28Speaker 4: is a really nice mug, I'm just not going to
- 31:30Speaker 4: use it.
- 31:31Speaker 6: And arguably opening a gift is so much funner than
- 31:34Speaker 6: usually the gift.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly, And also is it not a gift that
- 31:37Speaker 4: I just saved you money from having to like buy
- 31:39Speaker 4: your other friend and another process.
- 31:40Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 31:41Speaker 4: You are welcome, You are welcome. Don't say I don't
- 31:44Speaker 4: do anything for you.
- 31:45Speaker 2: Regift all the time, especially coming up to Christmas. Maybe
- 31:48Speaker 2: go through your cupboard.
- 31:49Speaker 4: What haven't you used from Christmas last year that you
- 31:52Speaker 4: can add it to Chris Kringle this year?
- 31:57Speaker 6: Not hoping maybe.
- 31:59Speaker 2: There's a lot. There is a lot, all right.
- 32:01Speaker 4: Unfortunately, I do think that is all we have time
- 32:04Speaker 4: for today. So Beck you have the best we can
- 32:07Speaker 4: you too, and we will see you guys on Monday.
- 32:10Speaker 5: Bye guys, love you, bye bye.
