- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of the
- 0:43Hypnotist, you can listen to a fairly short hypnosis session.
- 0:46And it was actually just a way of cementing some of the work
- 0:52that we had done with the client in the session, but they wanted.
- 0:56The ability to. Do the same thing with other
- 0:58memories and this client had symptoms of PTSD, so post
- 1:04traumatic stress disorder, and that is one of those symptoms is
- 1:09reliving a traumatic memory or things that remind them of that
- 1:14traumatic event. Set them off and they can feel
- 1:17tearful or overwhelmed or panicky or whatever it might be.
- 1:21They can be triggered into emotions and one of the memories
- 1:26that was very traumatic for them was seeing a parent being very
- 1:30cruel to an animal. At an age.
- 1:33Where they were too young to do anything about it, maybe six or
- 1:37seven years old. Because of that, not only did
- 1:40they feel powerless and helpless, but they also felt
- 1:44guilty that somehow they caused that thing to happen, which
- 1:48isn't true, but it can feel like it's true at the time.
- 1:52And these things can play out. And as a result of seeing this
- 1:56cruelty now as an adult, they're very protective over animals
- 2:03and, and they, they help vulnerable people and, and
- 2:08animals, but they couldn't, they couldn't have the ability at the
- 2:10time. So this is about looking at the
- 2:14past in a way to give it a new meaning, to scramble up the
- 2:19memory in the way that was causing some kind of trauma or
- 2:24link to an unresourceful state. And then taking the current
- 2:29version of themself plus a a resourceful previous version of
- 2:34themself into that memory to update it the way that they
- 2:37would want it to be. And in doing so, it can help
- 2:40with situations where there might be clear memories
- 2:44connected to something that links to symptoms of PTSD.
- 2:48So if you feel that this resonates with you, think of
- 2:52those things. And we're going to do it in a
- 2:54way that makes it safe for you to do that.
- 2:56It's called stage disassociation.
- 2:58You're not going to relive the moment until you've messed up
- 3:02the link between the moment and any kind of emotions connected
- 3:06to it. So you can think about that, but
- 3:08wait until the session starts. So you do it in a way where
- 3:11you've got at least one or two levels of stages to really
- 3:15disassociate so you're not reliving a traumatic memory
- 3:19again, but you're looking at it in a way where you can change it
- 3:23and make it empowering for you. And if PTSD or anxiety triggers
- 3:29are plaguing you in some way and you do want a more bespoke
- 3:31session, there will be a link in the show notes where you can
- 3:34schedule that free consultation call to explore working with me.
- 3:37For now though, find a quiet, comfortable place where you
- 3:40won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 4:09Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, just imagine
- 4:17breathing in a feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 4:22Breathing in that relaxation and as you exhale, just allow your
- 4:29eyelids to close as you give permission to yourself to go to
- 4:34a place of relaxation where change can happen naturally.
- 4:42Breathing in that resourceful relaxation and allowing any
- 4:50feelings of tension, worry, or even helplessness to feel like
- 4:56it's leaving your body in that outward breath.
- 5:03It almost feels like you're breathing in strength,
- 5:09empowerment, a deep sense of compassion.
- 5:14And what you're exhaling is any feelings of helplessness, any
- 5:22feelings of weakness, any feelings of powerlessness.
- 5:28Allow those unresourceful feelings to feel like you're
- 5:32exhaling them, breathing in what you need and exhaling what you
- 5:39don't. I want you to use the power of
- 5:44your imagination to imagine a secret room in your mind that
- 5:51looks like your own private cinema.
- 5:57Imagine walking into that private cinema, seeing that
- 6:00large screen, and imagine seeing very, very comfortable chairs.
- 6:09And I want you to find the most comfortable chair.
- 6:15Consider yourself Goldilocks. Maybe one chair is too hard, the
- 6:20other too soft. And find the most comfortable
- 6:23chair. And imagine placing yourself on
- 6:28that comfortable chair in your own private cinema, in your
- 6:32mind's eye, and you're about to see a memory.
- 6:39A memory that originally was traumatic or emotionally
- 6:48overwhelming in some way. You're not reliving the memory
- 6:55because you're in a private cinema, you're just seeing the
- 7:00memory as if it was a movie on a screen.
- 7:05And originally I want you to imagine seeing it from a first
- 7:10person perspective, almost like there was a body Cam on you back
- 7:16then that filmed everything. You're not re experiencing the
- 7:20memory, you're seeing the footage of that memory.
- 7:28So play it forwards from beginning to end, knowing that
- 7:33you are safe and comfortable in a cinema, seeing a memory on a
- 7:38screen. And maybe there's certain
- 7:43elements of that memory that feel distressing because you
- 7:47remember what happened and that's OK.
- 7:52But I want you to imagine you have a remote control for this
- 7:58movie of this memory with brightly colored buttons.
- 8:05I want you to notice that different buttons do different
- 8:09things. You can turn the whole memory
- 8:14into an animated cartoon and try that.
- 8:18Now press that button, change the memory into a cartoon, and
- 8:22notice it feels different. There's another button makes
- 8:29everything like a black and white movie, and that changes
- 8:33things. There's a button that shrinks
- 8:38down the movie to the size of a dot, and when it's small that
- 8:45also drains any emotion away. Make it the normal size, but
- 8:53this time imagine that there's a rewind button.
- 8:56So everything's happening backwards again.
- 9:00You're in a cinema, just seeing a movie of a memory, but now
- 9:05everything is happening backwards.
- 9:08People are walking backwards, talking backwards, everything is
- 9:11happening backwards. There's another button that
- 9:16flips it, so now it's happening backwards and upside down.
- 9:23Or perhaps you turn it into what would look like an old
- 9:27photographic negative, just black and white but inversed.
- 9:34It all feels very strange. And then attempt to play it
- 9:39forward, seeing a button on this remote that scrambles
- 9:43everything. Just imagine that all these
- 9:47moments are scrambled up, and sometimes you try to listen to
- 9:53an old bit of music and an old CD or vinyl, but the track skips
- 10:00it plays a bit of the song, jumps forward, then jumps back,
- 10:04and the song is unlistenable simply because it doesn't follow
- 10:10the same sequence. So as you allow this memory to
- 10:15jump forward and back, scramble it up like all the scenes are in
- 10:20a blender, and it just doesn't seem to make any sense.
- 10:26Again, notice it's draining away any of the emotions to this
- 10:30memory. You know what happened happened,
- 10:35but any connection to a physical sensation in your body seems to
- 10:38be diluting and changing and dissipating.
- 10:47And just imagine there is a cord, a rope, or a piece of
- 10:53string that goes from you to this movie.
- 10:58And consider this cord an attachment of emotions.
- 11:06We need to imagine you have a pair of golden scissors.
- 11:13Moment you cut the cord, the memory will exist, but no more
- 11:17emotions will be connected to it.
- 11:20No more disempowering emotions. And when the time is right, just
- 11:26imagine cutting that cord with golden scissors and feeling that
- 11:32the memory can exist without needing to link to any memories
- 11:37that make you feel bad in any way.
- 11:40When you're ready to do that, let me know about nodding your
- 11:42head. That's it.
- 11:47You've now got a scrambled movie of an old memory that, no matter
- 11:51how you play in it, doesn't seem to make you feel anything.
- 11:58But the absence of a feeling isn't quite enough.
- 12:05The past is the past. So let's make it empowering and
- 12:09positive for you. Rewind it to the beginning, but
- 12:16this time see yourself as characters in the memory, but
- 12:23this time 2 versions of you. The version of you as you were,
- 12:30but with all of your strength and memories and the current
- 12:34version of you back in that same memory.
- 12:37The past and the present are now colliding.
- 12:40There is 2 versions of you. And then play that memory
- 12:44forward the way you would have wanted it to have been if you
- 12:48could go back in time and make it as you would have wanted it
- 12:53to have been. I want you to bring justice to a
- 12:57sense of injustice, power to a sense of powerlessness, fairness
- 13:06to something that was unfair to right or wrong.
- 13:13Remember, you're in the cinema watching this on the screen, but
- 13:16you're now seeing 2 versions of You Make Things Right.
- 13:26You're the director of this movie.
- 13:30Keep changing different variations of this new memory,
- 13:37this new movie, until it's exactly the way you would want
- 13:41it to be. Something that makes you feel.
- 13:44Is the audience watching this satisfied, Powerful.
- 13:51You are rooting for yourself on screen to bring justice to an
- 13:59injustice. And when you find that updated
- 14:03version feels just right, let me know by nodding your head and
- 14:13then rewind it to the beginning. And then step into one of the
- 14:19versions of you. Maybe the younger version of you
- 14:23that was in that moment, or maybe the version of you that is
- 14:27your current age. Now back in that memory, you're
- 14:31in a first person perspective. And now feel, feel that sense of
- 14:38power, strength, courage, a sense of justice.
- 14:46And because this is just your imagination, you can add special
- 14:53powers, invincibility, fearlessness, super strength.
- 15:05I want you to get a sense that you could even enable someone to
- 15:09change places. So if someone is being cruel,
- 15:17they experience their own cruelty on themselves.
- 15:23If someone is being mean or abusive, they are then the
- 15:28perpetrator and the victim simultaneously.
- 15:33Consider this karmic justice. Update things, but feel that you
- 15:38are in your own body, in the memory, experiencing it as you
- 15:43would have wanted it to have been if you could make it
- 15:46powerful for you. Try out different versions until
- 15:52there is a certain combination of things that happen that make
- 15:56you feel strong, powerful, like a hero, a sense of justice.
- 16:06And when you found that winning combination, let me know by
- 16:10nodding your head, knowing that you can come back to this
- 16:15private cinema in your mind whenever you choose to do
- 16:21something different with this memory or any other.
- 16:27To banish some demons that have been plaguing you for a while,
- 16:33to give a sense of powerfulness and empowerment to something
- 16:40that felt different. I want you to get a sense then.
- 16:47It all makes sense now. Certain emotions that you were
- 16:52holding onto weren't yours. I want you to get a sense then.
- 17:02You've got clarity now. You know that those emotions
- 17:07weren't for you, they were for someone else.
- 17:13I want you to get a sense then. Now you know that those emotions
- 17:20can seek out their rightful owner.
- 17:23Whether they claim them or not is unimportant.
- 17:28The emotions for you to keep are the empowering, positive, useful
- 17:35emotions. The combination of perhaps
- 17:39compassion and strength. Anything else, whether it's
- 17:45sadness, anxiety, guilt or stress, whenever for you.
- 17:52So allow them to find their rightful owner.
- 17:55And when they found their rightful owner, let me know by
- 17:58nodding your head. And then you can leave that
- 18:03screen, finding yourself back there in the cinema.
- 18:08And now, even if you try to play the original memory and try and
- 18:15do that, now, notice the feelings have changed.
- 18:21There is a sense of objectivity, perspective.
- 18:27You can see what really happened, knowing that you have
- 18:37all of the strength and power to live your life on your terms,
- 18:43without holding the emotional baggage of someone else.
- 18:48Now we need to get a sense. Then you can leave this private
- 18:52cinema in your mind, knowing that you are powerful, you are
- 18:57strong, that you have the qualities to make a difference.
- 19:04So as you leave that cinema, find yourself starting to
- 19:09connect with your present body, your present moment, with a deep
- 19:16sense of empowerment, but also perspective.
- 19:22Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 19:27nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 19:28wiggle your toes. Start to calibrate with the here
- 19:30and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you.
- 19:35You'll awaken feeling strong, powerful, with a sense that the
- 19:40past is the past, and you can extract all of the wisdom,
- 19:46insight, and value from that, and none of any emotions that
- 19:52are disempowering in any way. Starting to count 123 Waking up
- 19:59456. More alert 7-8.
- 20:03Open your eyes, open your eyes. 910 Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 20:09awake. Thank you for listening to The
