- 0:00SPEAKER_00: I'd like to welcome everyone back to our podcast unloaded.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: This is Michael Sehorn.
- 0:06SPEAKER_02: Shannon Morrow.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: And we are glad to be back again on our podcast here.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Shannon, how you been this week?
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Been good?
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: Good enough.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: You said good enough.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I appreciate that.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Dude, when I asked you before we started recording when you first came in, how are you?
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: You responded, I'm here.
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 0:28SPEAKER_02: And we even are the conversation ensued.
- 0:31SPEAKER_02: Like, man, it takes a lot for us to not show up.
- 0:34SPEAKER_02: Even though we're like might be running a little ragged, we still choose to show up.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm here.
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: How you doing?
- 0:40SPEAKER_02: I'm here.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: Good and cool.
- 0:41SPEAKER_02: Good enough.
- 0:42SPEAKER_02: We made it.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm I am here.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's that's the damn truth today, man.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: Uh lots been going on, I think, since our last uh two recordings um, you know, that was revolved around my mom and some other things that we talked about.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: But I think I think sometimes life just, you know, feels like you just keep, you know, we've talked about it, man.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: You just feel like you just kind of keep getting hammered a little bit, you know.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: It's like that, it's like that nail that you can't get to go in straight and then you pull it out, right?
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: To try to put it, you know what I'm talking about, right?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: And you try to get it to go back in, but it goes in at an angle, and you're like, damn, dude, I can't get this in here straight, right?
- 1:18SPEAKER_02: I've learned in time to get a new nail.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: They get bent.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: In latter years, I would just hit it as hard as I could to see if I could get it to go in.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: How'd that work?
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: It never worked, absolutely never, dude.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, man.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: So hence the theme of our podcast, uh, the weight.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: You're feeling the weight today.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, yeah, a little bit.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: How how are you coping with that?
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, you know, we all we all have those days, man.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: And we of course some are some are good, some are bad.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: I I I don't try not to use good bad.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: I just some are a little bit more uh a little more heavier than other days.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: It's a broad scale, yeah, for sure.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're on the heavier side today.
- 2:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Interesting theme that uh keeps coming up this this definitely for the last week here is I'm a very, very big proponent of um balanced scale in my relationships.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And I I know not everybody is gonna like that word, but I I'm a very not only am I a very energy-driven uh human being and just the way I live day to day, I I find a lot of value when the people that are in your uh inner circle or even outside of that inner circle, where you're just friends or acquaintances or whatever the title or role may be.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: I've always been a big proponent of uh energy in, energy out.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: And sometimes it feels that certain relationships sometimes become very one-sided.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Now, for me personally when I start to feel that the relationship is very one-sided, and what I mean by that is it's just there's a lot of there's a lot of take.
- 3:15SPEAKER_00: If that makes sense.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: And give.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: But when there's a lot of take.
- 3:20SPEAKER_02: When the giv slash take feels quite out of balance.
- 3:25SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you're in this relationship, you're doing most of the giving.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: Um, hence the, you know, the other side is most of the receiving.
- 3:38SPEAKER_02: And that is that imbalance is growing worrisome for you.
- 3:45SPEAKER_02: And so you're I mean, I know you, man.
- 3:48SPEAKER_02: Sometimes you've cut off relationships, you know.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: And um and sometimes it's that's the easy or you know, quick, you know, um, about it.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: And other times, you know, depending on the relationship or how much we value it, you know, like is there a way to start tipping the balance back, the scale back?
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I I don't want I don't want I don't want our listeners or even people who know me to think that I just you know pull the trigger and just be like, oh, it's not working out, peace out.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Um I I'm bringing this up because I've noticed this happening with some other uh individuals that I've come in contact with through the last week that they're also having some of these issues.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: And they were asking me my opinion on, you know, how do you deal with these things?
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: And I and I told them, I said, I can't really tell you how I deal with it because for me it is very, very important that it is very specific to the person and and the relationship, right?
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: And the circumstances, and the circumstances.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: It's a totality of a lot of different things, right?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: I the one thing that I have learned, uh, especially I think maybe over the last five years for sure, is I I'm not afraid to have difficult conversations with people in my life, and I'm not afraid to tell people if if it's important enough for me to say, Hey Shannon, I'm just using this as an example so nobody freak out out there.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: If I were to say, Hey Shannon, man, like you know, we've been friends for a long time now, you know, over a decade, and it just feels like you know, I'm I'm giving a whole lot here and I haven't I haven't got a lot from you lately, you know, whatever that whatever that may mean.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: That in itself should tell, I hope would would would be received in a way that they would see the importance of why that conversation is coming up.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: You see where I'm going with that?
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: A little bit conversely, if I have an individual that let's say I have only known for a very short time and it is absolutely apparent that maybe I feel that the the relationship is a little toxic, or maybe I just feel like it that relationship should not be in my inner circle, I'm very quick to just to say cut it off and roll out.
- 6:00SPEAKER_00: You've known that we've talked about it, even on these podcasts.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: But I think when I have a relationship, rather it's a friendship, uh it doesn't matter what the the dynamic is, if it's important to me, I think I'm pretty open about having conversations with people on the other side and just saying, hey man, like this I don't think this is working out anymore.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: You know what I mean?
- 6:24SPEAKER_02: Or yeah, yeah.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: It it it's hard to put into words because I'm trying to explain something that happens on a very deep level.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: It's yeah, it it's quite personal in our experience, our how we uh experience and perceive our connection with others.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it is.
- 6:45SPEAKER_00: And I don't have a lot.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: You know, my you you know my inner circle is really small by design.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: I have a lot of acquaintances, I have a lot of staff, I have a lot of employees, I have a lot of external relationships, um, but my inner inner circle is very small, it always has been.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: But I I I err on the side of quiet sometimes, and I know that about myself.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Uh when when things get heavy with me, um you can ask anybody that knows me well, you and one you're one of them.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: I do tend to withdraw inside, like we've talked about in previous episodes, because I'm it's how I have to start the process.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: You know, I I don't go blab off 50 dudes' ears whining and crying about whatever it is I'm trying to mentally go through or spiritually go through.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: It's just something that's personal.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: It's personal to me.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: So I I generally go within myself and then start that process of sitting with the weight, looking at that weight, facing whatever it is I'm trying to face.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: Identify you know the feeling or feelings, because a lot of times there's more than one, right?
- 8:02SPEAKER_00: And and that's that in itself is very difficult, you know what I mean?
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Because we are our own critics, worst critics, and we are also our own best cheerleaders, right?
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: So you know what I'm saying?
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: Like you can look at yourself in the mirror and just, yeah, man, you're the you know, I don't know, you're the best guy that's ever walked on the planet.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: Sure, you could you could think that about yourself, and I I wouldn't pass judgment one way or the other.
- 8:30SPEAKER_02: You think that once in a while about yourself.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, about 15 years ago, there was no doubt about that.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Um But you know, then there are other times where you know we're going through things in our uh ego or whatever it is you want to call it, subconscious mind, whatever, whatever the terminology is, is you know, we'll start having that inner conversation where you know, hey man, you're good.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: You know, you're you didn't do anything wrong.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: You know, look at that guy.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: You're fine, bro.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: This has nothing to do with you.
- 8:56SPEAKER_00: You can you can get caught in that real real quick, man, and it's easy to do.
- 9:02SPEAKER_00: Thank the Lord over the last 12 years now, coming up, 12 years.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: I have a really good inner peace because that's what I've been searching for.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: Somebody asked me the other day, may you searching for happiness?
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: No, I'm not searching for happiness, man.
- 9:18SPEAKER_00: I'm searching for peace.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: But that's what I've been on on this journey for.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: It's peace, true inner peace.
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: You've known where I started from.
- 9:30unknown: Oh, yeah.
- 9:31SPEAKER_00: I don't think I was at peace when we met.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: No, no, no.
- 9:35SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: And the person looked at me kind of odd and he said, What do you mean, you know, you know, searching for happiness?
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: I don't that's not what I'm searching for, man.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: My my personal journey in life is is peace, man.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: I just want to be at peace as a human being.
- 9:50SPEAKER_02: And yeah, good luck with that, right?
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Because the nature of life as human beings is often not very peaceful.
- 10:01SPEAKER_02: Like, as we, of course, experience on the daily, right?
- 10:06SPEAKER_02: And so the search for peace or the intention for peace or even the creation of peace, you know, like who uh yes, and uh there is also non-peace, which we can put a lot of things in there.
- 10:28SPEAKER_02: No, for sure.
- 10:30SPEAKER_02: Um, so yes, to even identify, yeah, I who've historically I have not had very much peace at all, very, very little to now like, oh my goodness, being able to ha really relax into and just find that comfort and that ease and much greater peace much more often.
- 10:57SPEAKER_02: Um and it's still fleeting.
- 11:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I would say for the large majority of the time, man, I even when I'm going through some really heavy things, man, I still feel pretty good at peace in myself.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: I do.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: At the same time.
- 11:17SPEAKER_00: I do, and then I and I think the reason for that is because over the last 12 years of this journey, it's taken a shit ton of discipline and it's taken a shit ton of trial and error.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 11:30SPEAKER_00: It's taken a ton of getting smacked around by the universe and and the earth and everything that that's involved.
- 11:37SPEAKER_00: Shannon knows a lot of that that's occurred over the last decade with me.
- 11:42SPEAKER_00: But I can confidently say, man, that today I I earn for that peace, man.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: So we've talked about in the past.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: You earn you earn to feel that peace within yourself.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: It's something that you become accustomed to and you you seek it out.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: You you want to keep a hold of that, right?
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: Like you're yearning for it.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:04SPEAKER_00: So like you and I've talked about, where I've had a real difficult time, and uh I think about I don't know, six episodes ago or so where I was just having a fucking week of just getting beat down, right?
- 12:18SPEAKER_00: And I wasn't trying to run from it.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: What I was seeking was to go back to the place where you feel that peace in the midst of the storm to still be able to return home just like ha, okay.
- 12:36SPEAKER_02: Both can exist.
- 12:37SPEAKER_02: That is so dead on, man.
- 12:39SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 12:40SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: Yep.
- 12:41SPEAKER_00: It's like that old I don't know where it ever came from.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: They're like, you know, even in the darkest storm, man, the sun's still shining.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's right, you can't see it.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: It's there, it's still there, it doesn't go away, right?
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: That's great.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so you know, when I I I we've talked about it many, many times, man.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: I I I love morning.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: I think the morning time for me is the most magical hour of the day.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: The dawn, right?
- 13:06SPEAKER_00: It's quiet, it's the earth's quiet.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: Like birds are still sleeping, like everything is just quiet, you know.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: And I think when you sit in that and you and you just are present with it, man.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: I think it does a lot for you spiritually.
- 13:22SPEAKER_00: And I think it does a lot for you internally.
- 13:24SPEAKER_02: That serves you well, man.
- 13:26SPEAKER_02: That really how lovely to be able to attribute a lot of your own development to sitting quietly in the morning and just like creating that peace for you.
- 13:40SPEAKER_02: It's a good start to your day.
- 13:41SPEAKER_02: Hell yeah, I can imagine better, man.
- 13:44SPEAKER_02: That, yeah, thank you.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: So the the relationship thing that we were talking about a little bit ago is in my life, it I am very cautious and I'm very careful of allowing toxicity or large amounts of negativity to enter my personal space.
- 14:03SPEAKER_00: Great, it's something that I don't tolerate, it's something that I wish more people might start to recognize because the more toxicity and that and the more negativity that flows into you and your internal space, man, it it can overwhelm you before you even know you're overwhelmed.
- 14:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, oh yeah, yeah.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: And then you're like, I'm not even getting out of bed tomorrow.
- 14:26SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 14:27SPEAKER_00: It it's that compounding factor that you've talked about a lot over the last episodes about you know, there's things that we don't want to talk about.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: I've I I just talked up, we talked about it last episode.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: I'm not ready to talk about and sit with my mom's passing.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: I'm not ready for it, and I'm not gonna do it.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: I think your your question was very valid.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: You know, can you put something away forever?
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Don't know.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: You don't know, I don't, I don't know.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: It's so case by case.
- 14:54SPEAKER_02: It's it's crazy.
- 14:56SPEAKER_02: We're all so different, each situation is so different.
- 14:58SPEAKER_02: It's they're all going to be different.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: It's all different, right?
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: So I'm just very cautious, man, of when I feel my inner warning signs telling me, hey man, like this there's this this this this uh circumstance has been coming up again and again and again, and it revolves around the same thing, the same theme.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: It's very negative.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: I cut it out.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: I choose that because like I just said for me, my inner peace is what's the most important thing to me as a human being.
- 15:33SPEAKER_00: Second most important thing to me is being here and trying to help other people, i.e., the podcast unloaded.
- 15:40SPEAKER_00: That's what this thing was created for, right?
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: It's just uh, you know, days are hard, man.
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: We all got them, we all go through them.
- 15:51SPEAKER_00: Some more, some less, but we all deal with them.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: And even when they're really hard to remember, oh yeah, the sun is still there, man.
- 16:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, thank you.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I so that's why I intentionally, you know, I I seek peace.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: I I think once you find you protect it as well.
- 16:11SPEAKER_02: A hundred percent.
- 16:12SPEAKER_02: You're pretty protective of your peace.
- 16:14SPEAKER_02: You are yeah, it all ties together.
- 16:17SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: You you you start tolerating a lot less shenanigans, man.
- 16:25SPEAKER_02: Peacekeeper, yeah.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: Because if you don't keep it for yourself, who's gonna keep it for you?
- 16:30SPEAKER_02: No, no, no, right.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: That we we must be responsible for our own internal states as well as external actions, behaviors, you know.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: It's great to that amount of responsibility, like what?
- 16:46SPEAKER_02: Wait, I'm creating most of all of this, and I, you know, it's it's pretty empowering, it's but you know, to um allow ourselves to be more the author of our lives, our experiences, our actions, you know.
- 17:02SPEAKER_02: Um yeah, it it I'll leave it at that.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, I I think some of us, and I won't say all, because Channel called me out on it, but I think some of us have at some point in our lives, maybe not for some, but I think for most of us, we've all come across that one person, or maybe it was, you know, uh could be in your friend list, could be in your family, but we've all run across maybe that one person where you meet them, man, and just like as soon as they either come into the the party or the meeting or just you're around them and they're super chill, like that shit's contagious.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: You guys know what I'm talking about.
- 17:47SPEAKER_02: Oh, yeah.
- 17:48SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, man, for sure.
- 17:51SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 17:52SPEAKER_00: You're just like there's something about being in this presence.
- 17:57SPEAKER_02: It's like just someone who just like, huh, someone who's at ease, someone who like truly, like authentically just comfortable in their own skin, not worried about too much.
- 18:08SPEAKER_02: My my wife used the beautiful word unbothered.
- 18:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:14unknown: Right.
- 18:15SPEAKER_02: Like, can you imagine just being able to not I mean, we are human, things will bother us, of course.
- 18:23SPEAKER_02: That you know, while at the same time, if we prefer or even strive for a more unbothered approach, you know, like ha you know, it it is very attractive.
- 18:39SPEAKER_00: It's contagious, you know, and I you know, I think I think a lot of times I I strive to to be that individual, especially when you're in a senior leadership role, because I think it's very important, you know, that you can set the tone, if you will, when you come into a meeting or you come into a room or you come into whatever it is you're doing, and immediately people I would hope that people are like, oh, okay, man, like this we're good.
- 19:10SPEAKER_00: Everything's good.
- 19:11SPEAKER_00: We're gonna have a good conversation.
- 19:13SPEAKER_00: Uh everybody just feels a little less heavy.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: Nice, a little less.
- 19:18SPEAKER_02: Dude, and most of that's like somatically.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: Most of that is your heartbeat, your the rate of your respirations, right?
- 19:29SPEAKER_02: How much tension you're holding in your body, your posture, your proximity, how quick or slow you're moving, your very eye movement, all most of it is originating from the body, and of course, our speech, and you know, that's that's kind of the con content, but how much of the more context is like what's happening in the room and how you describe it as contagion, it's I mean, energy cannot not be affected by other energy uh in a way.
- 20:04SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 20:05SPEAKER_02: Um, and so of course, you know, in a room full of your employees, if you enter all hot and bothered versus if you enter cool as a cat, you know, it's gonna really set the tone for everyone else.
- 20:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it does, and and I think you are right that um people may not be as honed in on the energy stuff that we've talked about here and there on this podcast, but I will tell you, energy is a real thing, it's in all things, and it's important because and I I thought this was kind of a I don't know, kind of like a hoodoo thing back in the day when people are like, hey, when you go to a new time zone where there's a a drastic difference in time, find yourself a nice grassy plot, take your shoes and socks off, and just stand in the grass and let that energy with the earth flow, and it centers your body to the location that you're at.
- 21:06SPEAKER_02: Yes, for real.
- 21:07SPEAKER_02: How could it not?
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: So I've I've practiced that, we've done it, and it's it's a thing, man.
- 21:13SPEAKER_02: Just grounding, man.
- 21:14SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:14SPEAKER_00: It's like the planet, it's like you're the GPS signal, right?
- 21:17SPEAKER_00: And the planet's like, oh hey, yeah, you're right here.
- 21:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it makes a lot of sense.
- 21:22SPEAKER_00: You know, and that that lag seems to dissipate very, very quick.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 21:26SPEAKER_00: So I just throw that out there.
- 21:28SPEAKER_00: It's a thing, man.
- 21:29SPEAKER_02: What?
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: Energy?
- 21:30SPEAKER_02: What?
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 21:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Where are we at, man?
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: What time is it?
- 21:37SPEAKER_00: No, we're good.
- 21:38SPEAKER_00: Um so anyway, that's just a long way around of saying that.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: I'm just in in my life today, I'm just very cautious about unbalanced relationships, toxicity, and negativity in my life, man.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: If there's energy that uh doesn't really align with yours and affects In ways that you don't really want, then you are pretty quick and conscious around avoiding it or, you know, yeah, um decreasing your level of exposure, the amount of influence it has over you.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and I and I want people to know too, uh it's this this is not in a uh this is not something that I do with ill intent.
- 22:24SPEAKER_00: It's not meant to harm or you know make people feel a certain way.
- 22:28SPEAKER_00: It's just I am protecting myself.
- 22:31SPEAKER_00: I've I've had uh an individual out there has reached out to me, uh today was the second time, set a meeting up, last minute cancellation twice.
- 22:44SPEAKER_00: This is the second time.
- 22:45SPEAKER_00: So I'm okay.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 22:50SPEAKER_00: Uh my response was no problem.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: Uh I'll let you know the next time I'm available.
- 22:58SPEAKER_00: That's not gonna happen.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: There's no next time.
- 23:00SPEAKER_02: I'm I'm so you just falsely.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: No.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: If if down the road I see that there's value in that, or there's a time where I feel like I'm uh maybe open to having another uh possible conversation or meeting, then I'll reach out to them.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: But it's not gonna be anytime soon.
- 23:22SPEAKER_00: I I've got too many things going on, and uh, I'll tell you one thing, and this can go for all of our listeners out there.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: You don't get your time back.
- 23:30SPEAKER_00: It's the one thing that is spent, and once it's spent, you you you you can't retract it, you can't go back and get that time.
- 23:37SPEAKER_00: That time is over.
- 23:40SPEAKER_00: And for some people some people have a very limited amount of time that they can offer to other people, especially when you're trying to fit things in and you're trying to make space for someone, not at my request, but at their request.
- 23:58SPEAKER_00: And I get things come up, and I'm pretty darn flexible kind of a guy, but when it when it happens the first time, and then you just don't respond, and then the next time we set it up, it's a hard date, hard time.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: 40 minutes before you show, you cancel again.
- 24:14SPEAKER_00: It tells me you have whatever's going on with you, I'm cool with that.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: I just choose not to continue to walk that path, bro.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: So you didn't take it too personally, you didn't get too butthurt.
- 24:27SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, you're just like, oh, like like you just said, whatever they got going on, okay.
- 24:31SPEAKER_02: I honor it.
- 24:32SPEAKER_02: Yeah, nice.
- 24:33SPEAKER_02: And it's you just because truly we don't know, we have no idea what's going on.
- 24:38SPEAKER_02: And it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.
- 24:40SPEAKER_02: We just must continue to make decisions for ourselves, you know.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: Just yeah, exactly.
- 24:45SPEAKER_02: That is that authorship, like, okay, this is what I choose, you know.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: And you you lead with openness and generosity, and wanting, of course, to just help other people a lot, you know.
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: And um when uh naturally that gets diverted or um yeah, rerouted, um good.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: You know, and this this isn't a blanket statement by any any means, because Shannon is very good at reminding all of us that everything is independent on its own.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: Relationships are independent amongst the relationship that you're in.
- 25:22SPEAKER_00: This individual, I don't have a personal relationship with.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: It's just somebody from my past, um, and it is what it is.
- 25:30SPEAKER_00: So, you know, there's always another side to the coin.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: We understand that, especially in the the world of duality.
- 25:38SPEAKER_00: So, you know, we're not talking about somebody that I've had our friendship.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: Like if Shay and I are supposed to meet a couple times, which it's happening over our our decade of time together, schedules conflict, it can't be there.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: Hey, I have to cancel on you.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: I honor the shit out of that.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Because it's important to me.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: The relationship is important to me.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Our relationship is important to me.
- 25:58SPEAKER_02: Which you misdescribed earlier as a friendship, right?
- 26:01SPEAKER_02: And yes, of course, it is a friendship while it has been based on client clinician, yeah, right?
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: And that's that's a really hard one because within that, of course, natural friendship develops while also like and this relationship began and has been based on it's it's a therapeutic relationship.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 26:30SPEAKER_02: And and but then we kind of breach that a bit in becoming co-host of a podcast together.
- 26:39SPEAKER_02: You you approached me this idea, hey, I really want to do this.
- 26:41SPEAKER_02: I was like, man, yeah, okay.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:44SPEAKER_02: And uh so now, beyond client clinician, we are also podcast hosts.
- 26:50SPEAKER_02: And of course, there's the natural underlying friendship, but it's not like um a lot of the more organic friendships, you know.
- 27:01SPEAKER_02: It it has, you know, like if I ever have to break up with you as a clinician, right?
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: It's it would be unlikely that you and I would not ever see each other again.
- 27:14SPEAKER_00: I agree with that.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: 100%.
- 27:15SPEAKER_00: And and we've we've talked about that in in past years, and that's come up.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: So you know, e each thing is very special and it's very um intricate in whatever that relationship is.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: And my whole point to this is I just want people to be cautious.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: It's okay to protect yourself, and I I'm I just wish I would see more people being okay with protecting their peace a little bit more because we all want to help people, we all want to do the right thing, and do we all know?
- 27:48SPEAKER_00: I don't know about I don't know about we all, but I I I like-minded people right we we try to be there for whoever it is.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: We all I don't know, I won't go down that road, but we I just ask as a human being protect your own peace.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: That's that's what I'm trying to get to, man.
- 28:09SPEAKER_00: We need to protect our peace because it's yours.
- 28:12SPEAKER_00: And if you don't honor that, I'm sorry, man, nobody else is gonna honor it.
- 28:16SPEAKER_00: That's just they're not gonna do it.
- 28:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:20SPEAKER_02: Even in the midst of a storm.
- 28:23SPEAKER_02: Correct.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: We can still find our peace.
- 28:27SPEAKER_00: 100% you can you can sit in a storm and be completely at peace if that's what your choice is.
- 28:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:33SPEAKER_00: I've been there.
- 28:34SPEAKER_02: We can choose that.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: I've been in it.
- 28:36SPEAKER_00: You've seen it.
- 28:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: It's um it's the darndest thing to uh go through something that's very heavy, but at the same time you you choose to keep your peace.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: And like I said, it's there's no magic bullet to this thing called life, man.
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: We're just out here trying to help.
- 28:53SPEAKER_00: You know.
- 28:54SPEAKER_00: I wish there were some magic bullets once in a while, but haven't found any.
- 28:59SPEAKER_02: And uh beginning with out here to help ourselves as well.
- 29:03SPEAKER_02: You know, that again, duality.
- 29:05SPEAKER_02: We must care for ourselves, um assume responsibility for ourselves, direct ourselves, you know, in in ways that um are appropriate for our values, you know, be aware of ourselves.
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, it's and then we can it will become clear to us ways in which we can show up in service to humanity, the world, you know, in balance with still caring for ourselves.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, I agree, man.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: Well, it's been an enlightening um show today for sure.
- 29:44SPEAKER_00: I hope everybody out there is is doing well and enjoying these last couple of weeks.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: If you're out here in the Nevada area, especially in the northern Nevada, my my heart goes out to the people who have uh endured these crazy fires and uh some people have lost their homes.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: So I just want to, you know, just give some good positive energy out there that you know there are there are some people out here that think about those people and you know their loss.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: Uh that's another another story, another time I went through when I was a very young child, so I I feel for you.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Um but sounds like you're getting a little bit more of a control on these fires out here.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: We've we've had some good rain.
- 30:23SPEAKER_00: Hopefully that's helped.
- 30:25SPEAKER_00: And um and like always, if if you're out there, man, and you're and you're needing someone to talk to or need some help, man.
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: 988's out there for you.
- 30:32SPEAKER_00: For for crises.
- 30:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, for a crisis.
- 30:34SPEAKER_00: Um, you know, if you're feeling like you need to talk, um you need some help, um, just reach out.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: I believe you can text them as well.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:42SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 30:43SPEAKER_00: And like always, if you're really looking for a little bit different uh path, look up for your local providers out there.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Shannon's always got the nomenclature on that site.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: What's that site?
- 30:54SPEAKER_02: Oh, um psychologytoday.com.
- 30:56SPEAKER_02: There you go.
- 30:57SPEAKER_02: There's a pretty good clearinghouse.
- 30:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: You can um punch in your area, is that how that works?
- 31:02SPEAKER_02: By location, location, just enter where you live, and then all the available psychotherapists will come up with good profiles, photos, and just see, yeah, find see who's a good fit, you know, explore it.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Well, uh, this is gonna conclude this week's episode, and like always, this is Michael Sehorn.
- 31:24SPEAKER_00: Shannon Moore.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: And we'll catch you on the next episode.
