- 0:00More people, certain types of people constantly want to be in
- 0:04my space or want to be around me, which I have to be careful
- 0:07about because that in itself is also a, a clue and a trigger for
- 0:12you. Because people see what I like.
- 0:15You know, when you, when you watch those shoes and they, and
- 0:19is there a nice little light? You're like, what is that?
- 0:22You know, and you want to come and play with it, but you are
- 0:25not bringing an energy to add value to me.
- 0:29You are attracted to that land to drain me because you want
- 0:33that. Yeah.
- 0:34So we. Have to be very careful even
- 0:37though we are when we start to work on ourselves, we are people
- 0:39who haven't done the work and so they want that, they want that.
- 0:46So there's a kind of plus minus balancing act you have to, you
- 0:50have to work on and you have to be aware, so aware of yourself
- 0:54that in that journey of the self-care and the, and the
- 0:57boundaries and the healing and from trauma and all of that, you
- 1:01have to know that you're going to become something that people
- 1:05are attracted to. And those people are still toxic
- 1:09and they want to be a part of that space.
- 1:13They want to be aligned with that.
- 1:16Hello, welcome to the Field podcast.
- 1:19I'm here today with my new friend Corinne Lafong and
- 1:25Corinne is going to make you feel alive today.
- 1:30She has a contagious energy about her that is palpable
- 1:36through the screen through if you're listening on Spotify.
- 1:40It's just, she's just one of those people that has that aura
- 1:45A about her. And so I'm excited to share her
- 1:48today. If you if you pay attention to
- 1:50our panels at all, you've met Corinne on panels this year in
- 1:552025, and now you're going to get to hear from her as we go
- 1:59through the talking points today on our podcast.
- 2:03So she reached out to me a few months back and I'm just so
- 2:07thankful. I'm so thankful to have
- 2:09connected with her. She describes herself as young
- 2:16and sexy. Karina Fun.
- 2:19Welcome to the Field podcast. Thank you so much, Melissa.
- 2:25That's what we're doing today. Young, cute and sexy.
- 2:27So if you if you don't think of yourself like that, sorry, this
- 2:31is not the podcast. Oh, yeah, but.
- 2:34But it's time to get on board with that.
- 2:36If you don't think yourself that way, join us.
- 2:39It's a fun way to go. It's a great way to live.
- 2:42You're gonna feel alive. That's right.
- 2:45That's right all. Right, my friend, talk to me to
- 2:50start out with how you prioritize self-care in your
- 2:54life and what that journey has looked like for you, because
- 2:57it's been a journey. It has, it has and it continues
- 3:01to be a wonderful journey. And I'm so glad that you asked
- 3:05that question because the timing is perfect.
- 3:08When I think that I have prioritized, prioritized
- 3:12self-care, I'm actually getting more aggressive about it, you
- 3:16know, as time, yes, as time progresses, it's like, no, I
- 3:20need to do more of this. You know, I, I, I'm setting
- 3:23boundaries. Self-care is not just about, you
- 3:26know, putting on essential oils and doing your hair or makeup or
- 3:30go into the spa. It's more to me about deciding
- 3:36what you're allowing in your space, what you're giving
- 3:39permission to, you know, because that brings more peace than
- 3:43anything else. You could easily go to a spa,
- 3:44make an appointment and just walk in and do what you got to
- 3:47do. But if you come back out nicely
- 3:49made-up here, done, nails done, toes done, body rub, done, and
- 3:53you're still walking into that environment that's toxic for
- 3:56you. All of that doesn't matter.
- 3:59All of that doesn't matter. So it's the self-care has to be
- 4:03from the inside out. Once you work on the inside and
- 4:07the inside is saying I don't like talking to you, I don't
- 4:12want to be in that space. I don't like working here.
- 4:15I don't feel good having to get up on on Mondays.
- 4:18I don't like Mondays. I mean, generally nobody likes
- 4:21Mondays, but you know, I don't. But I don't want to do this job.
- 4:26I don't like the people I work with.
- 4:28I don't like people I want to work remote.
- 4:32I'm at a different phase in my life.
- 4:33So for me, as I'm going in that direction, I mean, I'm 25.
- 4:38Just just to let you know, I'm 25.
- 4:40Don't worry about the platinum here and all of that.
- 4:44Let's just assume, OK, just assume that I was 55.
- 4:48Let's just assume that number, but OK, so assume that I'm 55
- 4:53and you know, you're on that face and women should
- 4:56understand. And some men who are very aware
- 4:58would understand you're in perimenopause.
- 5:01Your body's going through a lot of stuff that you're trying to
- 5:05figure out yourself because this is your first time.
- 5:08It's not to say I've been around, been around this area
- 5:11before. So it's new to you.
- 5:13And so you're discovering a whole new you.
- 5:16You're getting upset. You don't like people.
- 5:19People are stupid. They're talking nonsense.
- 5:21You know, it's a whole you don't want to, you don't want to
- 5:25bathe. You know, what if you bathe your
- 5:27bed once and you don't feel to brush your teeth, You know it's
- 5:30a whole lot of things and so and you don't want to wake up this
- 5:35time and have to travel and deal with the traffic and the people.
- 5:39You know, it says a lot, a lot of things right until you fight
- 5:42for yourself. I really need to change the way
- 5:46I work when I was in my 20s teenage depend on the time you
- 5:50start working. You could have tolerated and
- 5:53accommodated hustling, you know, and dealing with all those crazy
- 5:58crap. But when you hit your 40s,
- 6:01fifties and your body start to change and you start to feel
- 6:05differently, especially if you recognize it, you have to
- 6:08recalibrate, you know, like a GPS and say, come back to
- 6:14center, come back to call what I'm meant to be, where I'm meant
- 6:18to go. And so for me, remote works for
- 6:20me. It has always been my
- 6:22personality. It has, it has always been the
- 6:25preferred way and I'm not fighting it.
- 6:27And I think where the issue comes in, in terms of self-care,
- 6:31we want to be, we want to have our our foot, our body in, in
- 6:36the materialistic, in what the world wants and what we want.
- 6:39And you can't, you can't. That will drive you crazy.
- 6:42You have to decide is that a me or them?
- 6:45You know, like some don't in those kind of Western movies
- 6:48where you show up High Noon, is that me or there, you know, but
- 6:53you can't be in the middle or as you get shot, you know what
- 6:56happened, but it shows up in the middle.
- 6:58So, so you have to decide. So you have to choose you or you
- 7:02should be choosing you and saying, look, I'm at a place in
- 7:05my life now. And whoever's listening to this,
- 7:08I don't know what place you are in or space you are in mentally,
- 7:11physically, spiritually, emotionally, psychologically.
- 7:15But accept that, talk to yourself.
- 7:18Recognize that space. Don't fight it, OK?
- 7:22Ask it questions. Try to discover more about why
- 7:25you're feeling that way. Where is it really coming from?
- 7:28You know, and go with it. And you will know, Melissa.
- 7:32You will know. As you, as you decide to
- 7:34discover, you will feel that peace.
- 7:38You will feel that peace overcome you.
- 7:40You just feel like, yeah, this feels good.
- 7:44You know, not brushing my teeth feels good.
- 7:46Not bathing. How much time for the day feels
- 7:48good. Sleeping, staying in my pajamas
- 7:50all day feels wonderful. You know, I want to do more of
- 7:55this. Yeah.
- 7:58You know, I want to do more of this.
- 7:59And so you decide how you want to work, where you want to work,
- 8:03who you want to associate with the parties or the people you
- 8:07used to hang with. You don't want to be doing that
- 8:09because you realize I never really liked doing it.
- 8:12Why was I doing, you know, that particular job I was doing, I, I
- 8:17never really liked it. I just took it because of the
- 8:19money. My children are now grown.
- 8:22I don't have to be obligated. I could, I could sell tomatoes
- 8:26on the side of the road if I want to, you know.
- 8:29Yeah, just a half piece. Or work in our bakery and smile
- 8:33and talk to people or do some sort of, I don't know, work in a
- 8:38pub or something where you feel alive, alert, you know, take
- 8:45them dancing like what I did, you know, I go dancing even
- 8:48though I damaged my food the other day and I'm tending to
- 8:50know. But hey, what the hell, you
- 8:52know. You've just described what it's
- 8:56like to live, you know, and live authentic to yourself.
- 9:01And you mentioned boundaries where you're very specific about
- 9:05where and who you give your time to.
- 9:09This is, you know, this is not a conversation that we learned as
- 9:12young girls growing up. It's a thing.
- 9:15Had to learn sometimes the hard way as we went along.
- 9:20When was the first time you realized, oh, so these healthy
- 9:26boundaries thing, that's something I might need to
- 9:28implement in my life. Girl, I really don't know
- 9:32exactly when it happened, I'm just glad it happened.
- 9:35I went, yeah, let's focus on, on, on the solution as opposed
- 9:42to the. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:44I'm really not going to say when did this.
- 9:45No, it happened and I'm happy it happened, Yeah.
- 9:48You know, and you responded to it.
- 9:51I think that's. The key exactly.
- 9:53Realize it and you responded to it because that is something so
- 9:57important to acknowledge that it's one thing to realize that
- 10:00it's our responsibility to take action and implement.
- 10:05Yeah, yeah, yeah. And and taking action and
- 10:08following through and consistently staying with it is
- 10:11important because we can start something and then we fall back
- 10:14into default what the world expects of us or what our
- 10:17friends, friends in quote expects of us.
- 10:20Because you really will see too, when you decide to move
- 10:26authentically, like you say, what what really resonates with
- 10:31your spirit, you will start to see things falling off.
- 10:36You don't even have to do anything, Melissa, you don't
- 10:40have to do. You will realize, wait a minute.
- 10:43I haven't heard from Melissa in a while.
- 10:45You know, it might just dawn on you.
- 10:46You're like, it's been months because you're not supposed to
- 10:51do anything it automatically. But here's where we go wrong.
- 10:54We pick up the phone and call Melissa.
- 10:56So we bring Melissa back. We bring Melissa back when the
- 11:02universe has already decided, hey, you know, let Melissa go.
- 11:09You know, some new people have probably come into your life or
- 11:12probably you have spent so much time and have grown.
- 11:14So you have a grown Melissa. Melissa not even probably
- 11:19thinking about you. Everybody's just doing their
- 11:21thing. But here you go, pick up the
- 11:24phone and call back Melissa into your life.
- 11:26Then you're wondering why is all this drama taking place?
- 11:30Why? Why you bring it back?
- 11:37That is so true. That is such a good example.
- 11:40Thank you so much for that. Boy.
- 11:42Think about that, listener. Think about that and how your
- 11:46world and the universe and the choices you make are informing
- 11:50and impacting those things and when it's OK to release those
- 11:55things and relationships that are longer serving you there.
- 11:59No, that season has passed and it's time to move forward into a
- 12:04new season and meet up with those places and people that can
- 12:08meet you where you are and serve you in a healthy way.
- 12:11Absolutely. And you're able to do the same
- 12:14thing. Yeah, you don't have.
- 12:15To do a thing, you see, that is where the problem is.
- 12:19You feel I have to control this or I have to manipulate that or
- 12:22I have to get involved or have I say no, you don't have to.
- 12:25Your only responsibility is to focus on you.
- 12:28That's why it's called self. It's not our it's not our care.
- 12:32It's not we care. It's not them care.
- 12:35It's self. You know self means one me I.
- 12:40Yeah, and that's who you're responsible for, period.
- 12:45That's it. That's it.
- 12:47But you see, we you mentioned something earlier, but we were
- 12:50not trained and you're absolutely right.
- 12:52We were trained to be people pleasers.
- 12:55We were trained to tend to the needs of everybody else.
- 12:59Because if you ever thought about take it, even put in a bit
- 13:04ounce of cantias. Oh, you're selfish.
- 13:08How could you, Corrine? How could you, Melissa?
- 13:11How could you? Yeah, you're supposed to.
- 13:14And you, and you're being shamed and guilty for it.
- 13:17You're supposed to know better. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:22Yeah, yeah. So when you hear that like one
- 13:25too many times, of course it is programmed into your muscle
- 13:29memory, mental archives that anytime you think about doing
- 13:34anything for yourself, you're like, Nope, I can't do that.
- 13:39I feel guilty. I'll tell you, I used to buy.
- 13:42I used to buy cake. You know, like red velvet cake
- 13:45carry home. I couldn't, I couldn't eat it
- 13:48myself. Can you imagine?
- 13:50You're old. You're buying a red velvet cake
- 13:54when you should sit your butt right there and eat the damn
- 13:57thing and enjoy the ambiance. You're travelling all the way
- 14:02home with it to share. I know I love that so much.
- 14:09It's such a great example of that, that taking time and not
- 14:12feeling guilty about caring for ourselves and enjoying things
- 14:15and feeling good and and and and tapping into the things that
- 14:20bring us pleasure and such an important piece of this.
- 14:25And so good to have those mindful, you know, understanding
- 14:30and tap in not pushing that aside and not believing the lie
- 14:34and the narrative that it's selfish.
- 14:36I. Carry that cake, Melissa.
- 14:38I carry that cake. Travel at home, you know, travel
- 14:41with it. Make sure I held it properly so
- 14:43that the cake is intact. That's the teller, the kind of
- 14:47care. And then when I get home now the
- 14:50kids are there and I'm feeding them.
- 14:52I could hardly get any of the cake.
- 14:54Sometimes I get numb. Yeah, because it's all about
- 14:58giving to them. But here, what happened?
- 14:59It took me some years. It took me some years.
- 15:02It doesn't matter how long. And honey, I just about I think
- 15:052 nights ago I ordered a red velvet.
- 15:12I don't know how red velvet is packed.
- 15:15Yeah, yeah, honey, honey, I sat there with my fork and I took my
- 15:22time and layered into that cake. Oh my gosh.
- 15:27And enjoyed every single bite of it.
- 15:30No guilt, no shame. That is how I could promote it
- 15:33now, right? That is why I could promote it.
- 15:36You dig into that. You feel if guilt ever rises up,
- 15:41ever decide to raise up in you, You say you get thee behind me,
- 15:44SATA. I'm enjoying this.
- 15:46I'm enjoying this, Yes. I will not allow this moment to
- 15:52be stolen from me. This is my moment, Red Velvet on
- 15:57me. You stayed a hell of me from me,
- 15:59SATA. Oh my gosh, that's so good.
- 16:03And that's really, that goes nicely into you.
- 16:06I want to talk about the connection between our
- 16:09emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, sexual health, all
- 16:15these pieces and parts of it that are connected that we
- 16:19don't, we aren't taught to tend to all of them or even see the
- 16:24connection between all of them. When did you realize there was a
- 16:29a real, true connection between all those parts of your health?
- 16:33When I left my toxic 27 year relationship, I've been back
- 16:38home in Trinidad 2017 and I like Just like with perimenopause and
- 16:44leading to menopause, it's a whole discovery.
- 16:47I I start to discover me, I'm telling you I'm looking cute,
- 16:51young, cute and sexy right now compared to before.
- 16:55You could look back and I'm telling you you if you take
- 16:59pictures of yourself. I'm not a picture person, but
- 17:01I'm sure during our lifetime we would have taken pictures.
- 17:04Sure. If you look at the you back then
- 17:08and the you after deciding to really care for yourself and
- 17:12come and set boundaries and be away from all this is a toxic
- 17:16thing. You're going to start to see a
- 17:18physical because you see it works from the inside out.
- 17:22You're going to start to see a change in your skin in the in
- 17:26the youthfulness is actually bursting at the pores.
- 17:30It's coming out of you. People are just like how you
- 17:33introduce me. You know, you talk about how
- 17:35exuberant and exciting and the type of person I am, not that I
- 17:39wasn't that way before, you know, because I've always been
- 17:42high energy, but it's, it's exuding more now more people,
- 17:46certain types of people constantly want to be in my
- 17:49space or want to be around me, which I have to be careful about
- 17:52because that in itself is also a clue and a trigger for you.
- 17:58Because people see what I like, you know, when you, when you
- 18:02watch those shoes and they and you see a nice little light,
- 18:05you're like, what is that? You know, and you want to come
- 18:09and play with it, but you are not bringing an energy to add
- 18:13value to me. You are attracted to that land
- 18:16to drain me because you want that.
- 18:19So we. Have to be very careful, even
- 18:22though we are, when we start to work on ourselves, we are people
- 18:24who haven't done the work. And so they want that, they want
- 18:31that. So there's a kind of plus minus
- 18:33balancing act you have to, you have to work on and you have to
- 18:36be aware, so aware of yourself that in that journey of the
- 18:41self-care and the, and the boundaries and the healing and
- 18:45control and all of that, you have to know that you're going
- 18:48to become something that people are attracted to.
- 18:51And those people are still toxic and they want to be a part of
- 18:57that space. They want to be aligned with
- 18:59that, you know, but they have to do the work themselves.
- 19:02They have to do the work themselves or else they drain
- 19:05you and they take you right back, way you, right.
- 19:10So you have to align yourself. So it requires a solitude, which
- 19:16most people don't want to do. People are incapable, unable,
- 19:21unwilling to be by themselves to close off everything.
- 19:26I don't have a TV, I don't have a radio.
- 19:28I mean communication. Some people are like, what?
- 19:30How is that possible? But let me tell you, it gives me
- 19:33such clarity because I am not, as they say, I'm in the world,
- 19:38but I'm not of the world. I'm not influenced by what I
- 19:42hear and see. When you're in communications
- 19:44most, well, most of the people who I know in communications,
- 19:47they have to be on everything, news, this, that.
- 19:50So you're bombarded. There's no clarity.
- 19:54And if you're making a decision, then decision is based on what
- 19:58this one said. Who's saying that also, as
- 20:01opposed to stepping back and making a very clear, crisp
- 20:05decision? Based on facts, information,
- 20:09based on what is and considering all the other people, but not
- 20:13being influenced by what is being said out there.
- 20:16So you remove yourself from that by taking the time to be away
- 20:20from everything. And I'm not saying to lock
- 20:23yourself in like in a prison, but but you know, you're very
- 20:27careful, as I said, where you go, who you go, the time you go,
- 20:32if you have to go, you know, anywhere, because you could do
- 20:35all of that within your own space.
- 20:37I have a nice little humidifier, what you call it thing really
- 20:40cute. I just put it away a while ago
- 20:42and it's I put my tea tree oil, yes.
- 20:47So I have my own little spa thing going on in here and I put
- 20:52tea oil in there and it lets out a little misty thing and, and it
- 20:57turns different colours red and the blue and the green and the
- 21:00hues. And I'm like, Oh, I take off all
- 21:03the lights and stuff. And if I want, I could light
- 21:05some candles and then mix my extra virgin coconut oil with,
- 21:09with tea tree oil and peppermint and and rub my skin, my lovely
- 21:13black skin and massage, you know, So what I'm saying, you
- 21:16know, yes, that's, that's what we do.
- 21:19That's. How we oh so good.
- 21:23I love that so much. I love how you talk about
- 21:27creating space for clarity, creating space for quiet,
- 21:31learning how to be alone with ourselves and being able to take
- 21:36that noise and heal it and allow it to process, allow it to be
- 21:42felt and acknowledged so that you can you can clear that space
- 21:47and be open and receptive, but also aware so that you're not
- 21:52allowing those old horses in to steal your energy.
- 21:57You're mindful of who you surround yourself and.
- 21:59This. Yeah.
- 22:00And this is what really has allowed you to show up
- 22:04unapologetically as yourself. And now, and now it is because
- 22:10of that, you're also able to share that in a way that really
- 22:14inspires other women to do that as well.
- 22:17Just in the conversations you have, the show you have, you're
- 22:20not only become a resource for you, you've become a resource
- 22:24and encourager for other women. Talk to me about the evolution
- 22:29of that. Oh, well, I guess I'm making
- 22:32reference to my podcast. Yeah, yeah.
- 22:35And I have been doing some rebranding, so it's still a work
- 22:39in progress, you know, taking and making it that ecosystem,
- 22:44because that's what I'm building an ecosystem to help.
- 22:48Not only women, just people, women and men, teenagers,
- 22:51wherever you are because everybody needs it.
- 22:54And just as how we were trained in our time to to be people
- 22:59pleasers, I want my podcasts to be able to train people to
- 23:03recognize the signs of that and not spend so much time, you
- 23:08know, so it's like shorten the learning curve for the younger
- 23:11folks so that they don't, they don't spend so much time and
- 23:14have to wait till I get to 1450 to realize this.
- 23:18But nothing is wrong with that. Nothing is wrong with that.
- 23:21If that's the time it takes you to learn the lesson, that's the
- 23:23time. Because there isn't a specific
- 23:26timeline to do anything. There is wrong or right.
- 23:29So if it takes you 40-50 years, be thankful.
- 23:32If it takes you 5, be thankful. Because when I tell people about
- 23:36my relationship, they're like girl, I was older there in two
- 23:39months. So the time I saw those signs I
- 23:40was ordered, but it took me 27 years, OK.
- 23:44And it doesn't make me stupid and then more intelligent.
- 23:49It's just I, I had to go to that journey at that time.
- 23:53So you have to give yourself grace and you shouldn't be
- 23:55comparing yourself with anybody. So my podcast is, is an
- 23:59ecosystem that allows persons to, to listen to engage, because
- 24:04I will have guest episodes like how we're doing here.
- 24:07And I have been adding or I will be adding solo episodes.
- 24:10So you will hear me alone talking and having a dialogue
- 24:13that supports the guest episode, the person that I would have had
- 24:17on my podcast. In addition to that, what's
- 24:20being added to is resources. I have additional resources and
- 24:25reflections to help you to, to really sit right, to really sit
- 24:31with what you have heard, what you have listened to.
- 24:33And my podcast is 15 minutes. It used to be 30 minutes.
- 24:37I've reduced it to 15. So it's not a lot of time, but
- 24:40it gives you the time to really soak in.
- 24:42So it's like a self-care, It's like your own spa moment.
- 24:45Take half an hour, an hour. I mean, oh gosh, you deserve an
- 24:49hour for yourself, right? Just one moment, go and say, you
- 24:54know, I'm going to listen to Korean's podcast between the
- 24:57Lines. And you listen to it, you hear
- 24:59the solo episode, you go into the reflection and there's
- 25:03addition, an additional step if you want, where there's a deep
- 25:07dive into that particular issue that you can do some study, you
- 25:12can do even more reflection and look, because what it does, it
- 25:17allows you that deeper dive I go into allows you to take it into
- 25:22the into your life, into your personal and professional
- 25:25relationship. So you could, you could
- 25:27actually, you're walking in normal, empowered, more
- 25:31discerning. So that conversation that you
- 25:34might have had yesterday or last week or last year, you're going
- 25:37to be looking at it differently now, which is exactly where
- 25:40change happens. Because the me that you see
- 25:43today, it's not the me from before, not that something was
- 25:46wrong with the me before. It's just I I didn't know what I
- 25:49know. No, you know, I worked with what
- 25:52I had then. So you're working with what you
- 25:55have. No, and what the podcast between
- 25:58the lines that I host does is help you to move from you before
- 26:04today you that you should become.
- 26:06No, I'm going to the future with so if that, you know, helps to
- 26:10encourage someone. I, I, I look forward to having
- 26:13you as a fan, a follower, a friend.
- 26:16I guess someday, you know? Yeah, thank you so much for
- 26:20that. So good.
- 26:21And this really your why and your values now are so aligned
- 26:26with how you show up in the world.
- 26:29Talk to me about where you, you know, coming out of, you know,
- 26:32when you made that pivotal decision decision in 2017 to
- 26:36move forward for yourself, for, for your health and well-being
- 26:41and, and we're able to find the identify your why your values,
- 26:45not someone else's that made imposed upon you.
- 26:49Talk to me about the the evolution and the freedom that
- 26:52that brings. I I told you 2 nights ago I had
- 26:56my red velvet kick. That is freedom.
- 26:59I didn't have to share it with you, Melissa.
- 27:04Yes. Right, right.
- 27:06And when I ordered, it was from Pizza Hut.
- 27:08That is one of the places we have here.
- 27:10We order. So I ordered pizza and the red
- 27:12velvet cake. And I told the delivery guy said
- 27:15I'm not hungry. You know, he's like, you're not
- 27:16hungry. And you order pizza like, no, I
- 27:19fell for it. I want the pizza, so I'm going
- 27:22to buy it. I work hard and I deserve to get
- 27:24the pizza, the red velvet cake. So that kind of freedom.
- 27:28But the evolution, I'm glad you said that because evolution
- 27:32never stops. Yeah, evolution constantly goes
- 27:36and the discovery is hard to say when that discovery took place
- 27:39because like I said, I don't focus on the timeline.
- 27:43My focus is on I'm glad it happened and I could do
- 27:47something about it now. And so the evolution is, is
- 27:52really continuous growth, continuous development in, in,
- 27:58in yourself. I want to, I want you to repeat
- 28:02that question for me because I want to make sure I'm targeted.
- 28:05Yeah, yeah. You talk to me.
- 28:06What have you learned? What is your why and your
- 28:10balance? Yeah.
- 28:12That you've learned for yourself.
- 28:13Not what other people told you, but what you.
- 28:15Exactly. That's my point.
- 28:17Yeah, that's my point I wanted to make.
- 28:19I like how you said that the why and the distinguishing between
- 28:24my values are not what somebody else says.
- 28:26And that is something that we have to do deep work on.
- 28:30And when I say deep, I'm not saying sit down and a
- 28:32psychologist share anything but the conversations with yourself.
- 28:36Because a lot of the things that we do, a lot of the decisions
- 28:40and choices we make, most of the time, if you sit, it is not of
- 28:44you. You will be hearing the voice.
- 28:50It's coming through you. So you obviously you will hear
- 28:52your voice, but it is it was sung like you, but it is not
- 28:57you. Those voices and the decisions
- 29:00is actually coming from your parents, the church, society,
- 29:04media, school, some sort of person who was put forward as a
- 29:11as a influence in your life growing up.
- 29:14Because remember, we are born into this world and we know
- 29:17nothing. As far as I know, we are
- 29:19dependent on everybody else to tell us how to go.
- 29:21What? So the voices on the stuff is
- 29:24not really of you. What we have to do is discern
- 29:27those voices. Am I me?
- 29:30Is this really what I want? Who am I?
- 29:35Who am I? What do I really want?
- 29:38Do I feel good doing this? Some people, Melissa, end up in
- 29:43a in a spiral. They end up having multiple
- 29:46partners. They end up going into drugs.
- 29:49They end up and they don't know why.
- 29:51Yeah, they don't know why. And it is, it is too.
- 29:57It's like they're attacking their own cells like a sort of
- 30:00cancer. They're doing things that they
- 30:01know intelligently. It's wrong.
- 30:04People coming up to them. Your friends, whoever say it's
- 30:07wrong. They know they're not dumb, but
- 30:10they can't figure out why they're doing it.
- 30:13Yeah. They can't.
- 30:15And until you figure out why I keep having multiple partners,
- 30:18why am I doing drugs? Why am I staying out late?
- 30:21Why am I drinking myself and I'm sick every day?
- 30:24Why am I hurting myself? It's because of something from
- 30:27your past that you're trying not to deal with.
- 30:30And when I when we talk about the voices, the voices is also
- 30:36what comes at you in your alone time.
- 30:38So when I encourage solitude, believe it or not, those demons
- 30:42are going to be coming at your baby.
- 30:44They're going to be coming at you.
- 30:46Yeah. And what do some people do?
- 30:49Turn on the TV, Netflix it all day?
- 30:51Drink. Because they're trying, yeah.
- 30:56You're trying to silence it, but that's the wrong thing.
- 30:59You're supposed to stand up to it because it's actually a voice
- 31:03trying to tell you something that you need to face.
- 31:05And you realize that demon is it ain't that big and mad.
- 31:09It's actually a small thing trying to trying to make you
- 31:13feel is all that it isn't. So my why is actually and my
- 31:18values is actually around that is about recognizing who I am as
- 31:24I go along, as I evolve in this journey to be able to discern is
- 31:30that really from Corrine? Who is Corrine as opposed to is
- 31:34it from Melissa when she told me that 30 how much years ago or is
- 31:38it for you know, we have to know and that's where the
- 31:41authenticity that term that we keep using nowadays to find out
- 31:46who really am I what what really brings me joy and bliss.
- 31:52You know, what really do I want? You know, we tend to focus on
- 31:57what we don't want. But you see, the universe
- 32:00doesn't know the difference between what you want and what
- 32:03you don't want. If I say don't want, I don't
- 32:07want that, that is exactly what you're going to get because
- 32:13because you're spending so much time say I don't want that and I
- 32:16don't want that, that is where you're putting your energy.
- 32:19I wanted to say where energy goes, my focus goes, energy
- 32:22flows. Yeah.
- 32:23So instead of spending time talking what you don't want,
- 32:27spend the time talking about what you do want and feel all
- 32:31that feels to you. Yeah, Yeah.
- 32:35That's what it feels to you. Yes, yes.
- 32:40And that allows you with this next talking point is this
- 32:44allows you to live out of your own expectations versus others.
- 32:50This allows it opens the door for this to happen.
- 32:53But these other things, you got to put them into play to open
- 32:57the door for that opportunity. Yeah.
- 33:00And, and you will see a shift as you start communicating these
- 33:04new expectations and living out of these new expectations you
- 33:08mentioned earlier. You will see changes in your
- 33:11life in terms of relationships and how you're showing up in the
- 33:14world. And you have embraced that.
- 33:17You have not fought it. You have embraced that.
- 33:21I love that so much. Talk to me about the embracing
- 33:24of being able to live out of your own expectations with the
- 33:28joy and jubilance that you do. Oh, that's so sweet.
- 33:32Well, first to begin, I have no expectations.
- 33:37And I said to myself, I have no ambition.
- 33:40You know, the days of ambition is so gone.
- 33:42I thank God that I did my degree and my master's and all those
- 33:46things years ago, because if I were to do it, no, I clearly
- 33:49would not be doing well. I am actually doing a course,
- 33:54another certification, which I always wanted to do, and I'm
- 33:57going through it. But it's like a struggle, you
- 33:59know, It's like a struggle. And I'm like, what the hell?
- 34:02If I do it, I do it. If I don't, I don't.
- 34:04I don't need to prove anything to anybody.
- 34:06What the hell? You know, Yeah, it's just good
- 34:10to have. And, you know, because I do
- 34:11consultancies, you know, you're still dealing in the world with
- 34:15people who consider these certifications as important.
- 34:18But, you know, I don't need to prove myself.
- 34:22You know, when I get to it, I'll get to it, you know?
- 34:25But yeah, you know, it's, it's really, it's really a lovely
- 34:31place to be when you can embrace who you are, when you don't have
- 34:35to explain yourself. You don't have to validate, you
- 34:37don't have to justify. A lot of people like to ask.
- 34:40So why are you like that? And why did you just like I saw
- 34:45somebody just today, earlier today before coming on to this,
- 34:48somebody post something on LinkedIn and they shared a
- 34:52screenshot of the WhatsApp conversation.
- 34:56And I'm going to kind of paraphrase it, right?
- 34:58So in the person wrote to them, it seems as if the receive of
- 35:02the of the messages in real estate or something.
- 35:04So the person, I don't know the person reached out, but they
- 35:08reached out to WhatsApp and all she showed was a screenshot that
- 35:12she said, hey, you know, very professional, how can I help you
- 35:15kind of a thing. And the person went back, you're
- 35:17a failure just like that, you're a failure.
- 35:21So of course that take her for a spin.
- 35:24But where I would say she went wrong was to respond.
- 35:27She went in to respond to somebody she don't even know.
- 35:30So a total stranger text you on your, on your phone, on
- 35:36WhatsApp. OK, And it's not even e-mail
- 35:40they use, they use your personal phone, your but it's your work
- 35:43phone, WhatsApp, whatever. And they, they have the audacity
- 35:46to take their whole self text you, you decide.
- 35:50Oh, OK, hey Melissa, you know, how can I help you yada yada.
- 35:54And then you see the response or failure and then you decide to
- 35:59respond to a total stranger to explain and tell them, you know,
- 36:02how could they? And that is our reflection on
- 36:05them and their character. I ain't doing that.
- 36:09I. Didn't I wasted my energy on
- 36:12that? No, from the time you respond
- 36:16later, it's a immediate block and delete.
- 36:19Yeah, that's what my energy is. It's a immediate block and
- 36:23delete, you know, because you take your whole life to decide I
- 36:28am coming at Korean and Melissa today, you're a failure.
- 36:31You wake up with that in your mind.
- 36:33You. Wow.
- 36:35And that's just not the kind of energy you need in your life.
- 36:38And what? And hear what?
- 36:40So she responded to tell the person oh, about their
- 36:44character, understand that. And what?
- 36:45And not only that, she took her extra step.
- 36:47She put it on LinkedIn so you know the person who is actually
- 36:52reading that or following her, because clearly the person must
- 36:54be following her would see oh, I got to her, I got to her so
- 37:01you're. Absolutely holding the power.
- 37:03You're giving them power. Why?
- 37:07Why? And then here, what happens on
- 37:10LinkedIn? You put that force and then
- 37:12other people start commenting. So you're giving the person
- 37:15energy on your feet. Oh, my God, why?
- 37:20So it comes back. The embracing is to know who you
- 37:23are. We feel that we obligated to
- 37:27give a response to everything. Why did she feel that she have
- 37:32to do that? Because she feels I need to
- 37:34redeem myself. So to redeem myself, I'm going
- 37:38to tell you this and that. And it's about your character.
- 37:42Do you think the person who sent her that message really cares?
- 37:47Yeah. No, and they're not.
- 37:48And they're no position to receive it, because if they
- 37:51were, they would have never sent that message in the first place.
- 37:56So you're wasting your time. Yeah.
- 37:59And energy, yeah. And the person is looking at it
- 38:03and saying I got her. Yeah, and you're giving them
- 38:07all. The other people, all the other
- 38:09people who are comment. Yeah, yeah.
- 38:12Oh man, we need to stop being. We need to stop feeling
- 38:16obligated to respond. No response is a response.
- 38:21Silence is a powerful approach in communication, and it doesn't
- 38:27mean you're weak. It just means that you're just
- 38:29not giving your energy to things.
- 38:32That just makes no sense. Yes, Oh my gosh, that's such a
- 38:36good example. Thank you so much for that
- 38:38because I think especially as women, we are the over
- 38:41explaining champions of the world of the of the world.
- 38:46And so that is such an important piece to remember.
- 38:50Thank you so much. That was pure gold.
- 38:52Thank you so much for that really.
- 38:54And it's like. It's on LinkedIn, you could
- 38:56check it. It's it's.
- 38:59There, Yeah. I was tempted.
- 39:01I was tempted to say to her, the person who put the post, of
- 39:04course put the post. I was going to say it.
- 39:06I said, and why did you respond? That was what I was going to
- 39:09say. But I'm like Kareem, you're
- 39:12going on Melissa's podcast in the next few minutes.
- 39:15You are not good. Yes, I tell you, I had that
- 39:18conversation. You are going on Melissa's
- 39:20podcast in the next few minutes. We are not doing this before
- 39:24meeting Melissa. We are not carrying this energy
- 39:26into Melissa's podcast. We are going to sit down in Zen
- 39:30mode with our mentee in the hand because that's what I have here.
- 39:36I got my ginger tea. We're.
- 39:38Alright, alright. So we are here with our Minty
- 39:42and all that. Such a drama.
- 39:44We're not doing that. Yeah, OK.
- 39:47Yes. So good.
- 39:48Thank you so much for that. And that really goes nicely into
- 39:52accepting the layered aspects of ourselves.
- 39:55You have been able to do that. You just set, set a great
- 40:00example of how it's so important to do that because when you're
- 40:03able to do that and accept all those pieces and parts of your
- 40:07story, and you mentioned it earlier, with empathy, with
- 40:10grace, with compassion and, and, and being and understanding that
- 40:15life is a journey and wherever you are.
- 40:17That journey is where you are, and you take those lessons and
- 40:21you move forward with that. With love, you've been able to
- 40:24really embrace all those layers. So talk to me about the
- 40:29importance of doing that. Oh, that's so important.
- 40:34I'll give you another live example.
- 40:37Yesterday I read another post on LinkedIn.
- 40:39This is somebody of course I'm connected to.
- 40:41So she is into hiking. So she was like she learned so
- 40:45much from this particular event. She has been hiking is a 26.2
- 40:50kilometers up some mountain. So in ultra, right, it's a long
- 40:55a long distance, obviously, and she's preparing for it every
- 40:58year she's going and this year she trained, you know, better
- 41:02for it, I guess, and you know, she was so looking forward to.
- 41:05So she was doing planning to do a sub six hours, you know for
- 41:08that trip. She said so many things started
- 41:12to happen. The first thing she did wrong
- 41:13was take a call just before for my client just just before and
- 41:22it clearly throw off the yin Yang energy off of her when her
- 41:26mind you are going to be climbing you are hiking terrain
- 41:3226 point. Imagine you saying ball the
- 41:36fastest man in the world or or somebody climbing up Mount
- 41:40Everest. He said I'm going to take a call
- 41:42from Corrine or from Melissa just before I ring.
- 41:45While I'm in the starting blocks, I'm going to.
- 41:48Everybody just wait, wait. Oh my gosh, right.
- 41:56So boom #1 that's true. Then she forgot something.
- 42:01She called her Garmin. I don't know what that is.
- 42:02I guess that's how I can talk. Something, some something that
- 42:05she had to put on and she forgot to turn it on in order to track
- 42:08her time. She said her blood pressure, her
- 42:11blood pressure before she even make a certain amount of miles
- 42:15was 194. She was ready to quit, you know,
- 42:19all sorts of things. And she learned she still made
- 42:23it. She was able to help her
- 42:24teammate. But it just shows people focus,
- 42:30Focus. Listen, there are a lot of
- 42:33things that come to distract me. You know, Melissa, a lot of
- 42:37things. And you know what I say about
- 42:38that? Anytime you're on the right
- 42:44path, anytime you are on the right path, you know what you
- 42:46know? Because distractions will come.
- 42:50Yeah, distractions will come to take you off of it.
- 42:54Yeah, OK. Whether it is a test of fate or
- 42:58whether it is the devil trying to get you off, I don't know.
- 43:01But whether or not the point about it is distractions will
- 43:05come and it comes very subtly that call that text that will
- 43:10take your mind off. If you have the TV on something
- 43:12show up and suddenly or you're just doom scrolling on YouTube
- 43:16or TikTok or whatever. And the whole point of what
- 43:19you're supposed to be doing, you're not focus on.
- 43:21Yeah. The end of the day comes and
- 43:24next thing you know, you're in bed, you're sleeping, and
- 43:25another day comes. It happens.
- 43:28But what we need to do is zone in.
- 43:32We don't have to immediately respond to every e-mail, every
- 43:35text, every knock on the door, whatever.
- 43:40I don't care who it is. I always say to people, I'm not
- 43:42911 my number. I'm not 911, OK.
- 43:54I don't work as a first responder and even if I did, I'm
- 43:58not on shift so I'm not I'm. Not the one or the 2.
- 44:07I'm not the one or the two. Don't call me, OK?
- 44:14Because if you do and you're dying, well, you know what will
- 44:17end up happening? You'll just be dead.
- 44:19So that's just what it is. You know, you're not going to
- 44:24you're not going to I I have to lock out.
- 44:26And people might say, oh, Kareem, you're doing that.
- 44:28What if somebody did that to you?
- 44:30Great. I wouldn't know.
- 44:34I'm sitting here. And if the person don't respond,
- 44:37great. What?
- 44:38What could I do? I'm not going to call them, but
- 44:41listen, you're not going to make them.
- 44:43No, I don't have the time for that energy.
- 44:46Yeah. Exactly, exactly, Yeah, so good.
- 44:52So talk to me. You have you are such a great
- 44:55example of living out feel, finding empowerment, embracing
- 44:59layers. You have done that and and what
- 45:03it has done is obvious for you like it is.
- 45:06How it has impacted your relationship with yourself is
- 45:10obvious. How it has impacted your
- 45:12relationship with other people and how you see them is obvious.
- 45:17What is the most important thing you have learned in this
- 45:22process? To stick with my boundaries.
- 45:28Don't compromise. I don't.
- 45:29I don't do the compromising crap.
- 45:31People say, well, you need to compromise.
- 45:33That's just another way of saying allow people to
- 45:34manipulate you. Dim your light.
- 45:37No. Oh, you wouldn't have friends.
- 45:39OK, I'm fine with that. Yeah.
- 45:48Oh, nobody would want to hang around.
- 45:50OK, you see, they they throw the things at you that matters to
- 45:55them or they always in the world.
- 45:57But what they don't realize is that I, I'm just not.
- 46:01I'm just not. There's nothing you could come
- 46:03at me with that will motivate me to move in that direction.
- 46:07So if you try to make me feel I'm missing out on something,
- 46:10the friends, they're hanging out.
- 46:12The people wanted to be with me. I'm sorry.
- 46:15I don't have a fear of missing out anything.
- 46:18Yeah. You know, it's actually you
- 46:20missing out. You're missing all the peace.
- 46:23Yes, and living your life authentic to.
- 46:27You exactly. I am quite OK.
- 46:30Why are you standing over there and having a problem with me
- 46:34over here? I don't understand it.
- 46:38Aren't you supposed to be happy with where you are?
- 46:40So clearly you're not happy with where you are.
- 46:42Why? You're taking up time focusing
- 46:44on me? Because I am not taking up time
- 46:47focusing on you. So why are you making me the
- 46:50focus of your life? It's telling me you don't have a
- 46:54life. Yeah.
- 46:56Because if you do, you wouldn't have the time to be watching me.
- 47:00Yes. Because I'm not watching you.
- 47:04So I'm like, why are you making what I'm doing over here
- 47:07problem? Why?
- 47:10Yeah, I'm trying to make. Me.
- 47:13I'm trying to make me come across by you to do all the
- 47:15things misery loves company. You're unhappy over there and
- 47:18want me to join you. No.
- 47:20Yeah, it's not happening. Yeah.
- 47:23No. Oh, you feel you have a certain
- 47:25definition of happiness and peace, and you feel your
- 47:28definition should be the one I live by.
- 47:31So you define it that particular way.
- 47:34And that definition is hanging out with friends, drinking,
- 47:37doing all the stuff, you know, taking people's calls, whatever,
- 47:41answering and whatever. And I should be doing that
- 47:44because that's what peace and happiness is.
- 47:45So, Corrine, you need to live like that.
- 47:47No, I have my own definition. Yeah.
- 47:52And you know the thing about it, it's so hypocritical because I'm
- 47:55not asking them. Right my.
- 47:58Definition. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not
- 48:03asking, I'm not forcing nothing. I am quite OK over here eating
- 48:08my red velvet cake. I.
- 48:13Yes, I think that's the key too. That's that key, that
- 48:17realization of, you know, I, I am totally happy for you living
- 48:24the way that makes you feel happy.
- 48:26I'm just asking you to have the same respect for me.
- 48:29And if you can't, and if you, and if that's not something
- 48:32you're able to move to, I can't help you with that.
- 48:34And and let's. Just it's OK.
- 48:36Yeah. And I don't even want to help
- 48:38you, that's the thing. I'm not even, well, it's not
- 48:40your job too. It's not your job today.
- 48:42I'm not even offering. Yeah, I would just say I wish
- 48:46you well. Yeah.
- 48:49If you can't respect that, then, hey, it's nothing.
- 48:54You know, if that's how you want to live a girl, you go for it.
- 48:58You go for it, sweetie. But I'm just not there with you.
- 49:02Yeah. Why do you need my company?
- 49:04Why do you you think I should live in your frame?
- 49:07You define it. You're unhappy in your frame and
- 49:10you want me to join you there? No.
- 49:12Yeah. And you see, that is the thing.
- 49:14People, like I said, I want what you have, but they're not
- 49:20willing to do the work. So instead they decide I am
- 49:23going to get her to be unhappy like me.
- 49:27So we're all in the same, you know, the same month together.
- 49:33And from the time you resist, if you resist and you're not
- 49:37joining them in that, Oh, you think you're all that?
- 49:40Yes. I don't think it.
- 49:42I am all that, yes. Yes, I love that.
- 49:48Yeah. Yeah, you're right.
- 49:50You gotta run. Absolutely.
- 49:52I am all that. Yeah.
- 49:54Oh, you think you're all that? Yes, I am.
- 49:57All that and a bag of chips plus the factory that made the chips.
- 50:01I am all. Oh my God.
- 50:06Because. They're going to make you.
- 50:07They're going to want to make you feel everything is the guilt
- 50:10and shame you for the decision and the boundaries because they
- 50:14cannot manipulate you. So instead, if you have a
- 50:18problem with me being all that I am good being all that by
- 50:21myself, you know I am quite good being all that without you.
- 50:26Yeah, yeah. Trying to take that energy.
- 50:29Absolutely, Absolutely. Yes.
- 50:32It's because it's because it's without them.
- 50:34It's because it's without them, Melissa, that is the problem.
- 50:37You're living life without them. Yeah, and they don't know what
- 50:42to do with that because they haven't done their own work.
- 50:45Can't help you? Don't want to help you.
- 50:46Not offering, not making apologies, unapologetic.
- 50:50Isn't that what we say? There we go.
- 50:51That is unapologetic. Yes, Oh so good.
- 50:55All right, tell me 5 activities that nourish you.
- 51:01Red velvet cake. Let's get our priorities right,
- 51:06Melissa. OK, Latin dancing, drinking lots
- 51:14of water, doing my spa. I don't know.
- 51:19Have I reached 5? I'm just calling things.
- 51:21I don't know. I'm just living in peace, quiet
- 51:27moments. I love that.
- 51:29I love to hear the voices. Other people don't, but I love
- 51:33it. I welcome the voices all day,
- 51:35all night. I talk back, I answer back.
- 51:38I love it because I, I am good with it.
- 51:43You know, I am I, I tend to have it.
- 51:46Well, I guess it's because I am by myself.
- 51:48So I guess it's my companions, I suppose.
- 51:52But I love to hear the voices, and it has me to know that if
- 51:56you're able to have a conversation with those voices,
- 52:00it's telling me I'm getting better every day.
- 52:03Yeah, I'm getting closer and closer to the person I'm
- 52:07supposed to be. So.
- 52:09That's so good. I love that so much.
- 52:11So good. All right, and five words on how
- 52:14you want to feel in the next 6 months.
- 52:18Young, cute, sexy. That's sweet.
- 52:23Let's get our priorities right. Melissa.
- 52:26That's great. Young, cute, sexy, more sexy.
- 52:35I love that. That's so good.
- 52:38Red velvet cake. Young, cute, sexy.
- 52:40Let's go. That's.
- 52:44What we're doing, baby, that's what we're doing.
- 52:46Oh my gosh, Corinne, tell people where they can find you and
- 52:50follow you. This will also be on our website
- 52:53at embracinglayers.com, on our resources page.
- 52:56Listeners, don't you worry, you're going to be able to
- 52:58access all of this, but share with people right now where they
- 53:01can find you and follow you. Well, LinkedIn is one of the
- 53:04first places. Of course you will see this cute
- 53:06face. You can't miss it.
- 53:08So you put in my name. You can see it on the screen.
- 53:11Corina phone. You can find me.
- 53:12So that's one. Another place you could find me
- 53:14is of course, do a search on Apple podcast for between the
- 53:18lines. That's me now.
- 53:20Don't come at me. My podcast it's revamping.
- 53:23I have been doing this for 13 years, but you will see some new
- 53:28changes on stuff. So bear with me.
- 53:30You know, we're making some changes, but the stuff there is
- 53:32absolutely awesome. And it's going to be even more
- 53:34awesome. So on Apple Podcasts, Between
- 53:37the Lines, LinkedIn with my name, and of course on my
- 53:40website, which also is being built out too, it's on Beyond
- 53:44the Lines Learning. So you have Between the Lines,
- 53:48my podcasts and then you have Beyond the Lines Learning dot
- 53:51store STORE. OK, Yeah.
- 53:55But that's where you will get the other resources to support
- 53:58Between the Lines. Because when you come in between
- 54:00the lines, you're actually between the lines.
- 54:02You're still trying to figure out what's going on.
- 54:05Yeah, but when you're finishing Between the lines or Between the
- 54:08lines is finished with you, you need to go beyond the lines.
- 54:12Oh, I like that. That's so good.
- 54:14Oh, so much. Oh my gosh.
- 54:17Is there any last thoughts you would like to share with our
- 54:20listeners today before we wrap this up?
- 54:23I don't believe in last thoughts.
- 54:25Last thoughts is always finality so I don't use the word last but
- 54:28what I will share. I like.
- 54:31Because I know this will never, this will never be all final
- 54:35conversation or final interaction.
- 54:37So I don't use a word last, but I would like to leave some
- 54:41wisdom to to persons or additional wisdom, I should say.
- 54:46Yeah, trust yourself. Learn to trust yourself, you
- 54:51know, learn to. When I say learn to trust
- 54:53yourself, it comes back to what I was saying before.
- 54:55In order to trust yourself, you need to discover who you are to
- 54:59trust. It's like I would put your trust
- 55:00in a friend, you know? Trust in whatever you know.
- 55:05Yeah. Trust yourself.
- 55:06I put my my trust in God and he is the my sole source savior,
- 55:13everything that I go to and I am tempted many times because it's
- 55:17human. Yes, something happened.
- 55:19Let me call up Melissa. I want to share this with
- 55:21Melissa. I stopped in my tracks
- 55:23immediately and I'm like, Nope, I'm going to go to God with
- 55:26this, you know, so it is something I've been working on.
- 55:30So instead of trying to pick up the phone and call Melissa to
- 55:32share, which tends to sound very gossipy, I'm trying to I'm
- 55:37working on that. I'm looking, I'm working on
- 55:40moving more to the source, to the person who created me, who
- 55:44is the person that's leading me where I need to go into the
- 55:49purpose that I'm meant to. You know, So that is why I put
- 55:53my trust, not in man, not in things, not in anything
- 55:57materialistic. So I put my trust in that
- 55:59because I know he's my creator and if he's my creator, then I
- 56:05need to stay close to my creator to know what he created me to do
- 56:08so. So good.
- 56:11Thank you so much for being with me today.
- 56:13I have such a pleasure to have you listeners.
- 56:16So much gold here. Go back, take notes, tap into
- 56:20those resources and and know your value.
