- 0:08Speaker 1: we get started on She's on the Money podcast, I
- 0:11Speaker 1: would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land
- 0:14Speaker 1: of which this podcast is recorded on a wondery country,
- 0:18Speaker 1: acknowledging the elders, the ancestors and the next generation coming
- 0:22Speaker 1: through as this podcast is about connecting, empowering, knowledge sharing
- 0:27Speaker 1: and the storytelling of you to make a difference for
- 0:30Speaker 1: today and lasting impact for tomorrow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Let's get into it.
- 0:34Speaker 3: She's on the Money. She's on the Money.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Hello, and welcome to She's on the Money podcast that
- 1:00Speaker 4: makes personal finance fun, especially on Fridays. It is our
- 1:04Speaker 4: favorite day of the week because we get our little
- 1:06Speaker 4: team together and we celebrate you, our incredible She's on
- 1:10Speaker 4: the Money community, Miss Jess Gricci's got some money wins
- 1:13Speaker 4: and confessions for us. Miss beck sayed, I think she's
- 1:16Speaker 4: got a few unhinged broke tips to share. This week,
- 1:20Speaker 4: we're going to be helping to answer our money dilemma,
- 1:21Speaker 4: which this week is all about how to finance a
- 1:24Speaker 4: removable home and then something you slid into our DMS
- 1:27Speaker 4: about ADHD tax and feeling like a burden on your
- 1:31Speaker 4: partner relatable not the removable home thing, but I do
- 1:36Speaker 4: happen to know how to finance one of those.
- 1:39Speaker 2: So we'll get there later. Find Yeah, you can find out.
- 1:42Speaker 2: You can find out.
- 1:43Speaker 4: But before we get there, first things first, how have
- 1:46Speaker 4: your week's been?
- 1:47Speaker 3: Really?
- 1:47Speaker 5: Good?
- 1:48Speaker 2: Team, She's on the money is for the most part,
- 1:51Speaker 2: back on deck now, which is very exciting.
- 1:54Speaker 4: I feel like everyone is just like a lull, Like slowly,
- 1:57Speaker 4: slowly things are starting to.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Take I'm having a lot of circling back emails from
- 2:03Speaker 2: all the ones I sent you into THEMBAR saying back
- 2:04Speaker 2: to this in January, and now everyone's coming back.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Actually I didn't want you to actually come back. I
- 2:12Speaker 4: didn't mean that. Also circle back corporate speak, we're canceling.
- 2:16Speaker 2: That my actions with January didn't say yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I actually meant next year. Yeah, you're like you go away. No,
- 2:26Speaker 4: It's it's been fun Beck being back on deck.
- 2:30Speaker 2: How's how's life?
- 2:31Speaker 4: If you kept up the motivation levels that we had
- 2:33Speaker 4: last week, you know what I.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Think I actually have.
- 2:36Speaker 5: But it is such a weirdly sad time of year
- 2:39Speaker 5: because it's like, oh I got to with now we
- 2:41Speaker 5: have to wait a whole another year for this like
- 2:46Speaker 5: nice period where everyone's excited, everyone's in the mood of
- 2:48Speaker 5: like like to be festive.
- 2:50Speaker 4: Okay, but like, let's reframe it. We've got a year,
- 2:53Speaker 4: We've got a year to look forward to it, We've
- 2:55Speaker 4: got a year to set up our savings accounts. So
- 2:59Speaker 4: this period of the year is not financially stressful.
- 3:02Speaker 2: Yes. No, I've got a money team this week. You've
- 3:05Speaker 2: got a money team, you know, one of those old
- 3:06Speaker 2: school ones. And I like a cute with the can
- 3:09Speaker 2: open up. Yeah, made the outside cute, and we're putting
- 3:11Speaker 2: coins in it and I'm going to buy my treat
- 3:13Speaker 2: myself to.
- 3:13Speaker 4: Okay, Okay, I've got questions.
- 3:15Speaker 2: I love that. Where are you getting coins? Well, I'm
- 3:18Speaker 2: trying so when I saw things cause I just don't
- 3:20Speaker 2: have cash, when I saw things on Facebook, Mark place
- 3:22Speaker 2: all the time, you get cash, and I'm trying to
- 3:24Speaker 2: use it a little bit more because I feel like
- 3:26Speaker 2: I like that I have the coins that I then
- 3:28Speaker 2: squirre all away.
- 3:29Speaker 4: See, I've got a little dish beside our front door. Yeah,
- 3:32Speaker 4: you're gonna rob me, Like, that's where to go gas.
- 3:34Speaker 4: All the coins are there, good to know, but I
- 3:36Speaker 4: don't know what to do with the twenty and fifty
- 3:38Speaker 4: cent pieces in there. Put them in my money, sir,
- 3:41Speaker 4: I'll bring them in because at this point, at this
- 3:43Speaker 4: point they're a burden.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I am so annoying.
- 3:46Speaker 5: I literally yesterday it is actually I like I had
- 3:49Speaker 5: five cents, tense, it's all the coins in the world,
- 3:51Speaker 5: and I like kind of put them into little piles
- 3:54Speaker 5: of my hand and then just like went and filled
- 3:56Speaker 5: up my pedal tank and I was like thirty and
- 3:59Speaker 5: then with fifty cents And.
- 4:01Speaker 4: You are really annoying but also sligh.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like free petrol. Also, you know that you
- 4:07Speaker 2: can put them in a coin counter at the bank
- 4:08Speaker 2: and just deposit them into account. Yeah, but that's.
- 4:11Speaker 4: Another it is. But also like once it's in the account,
- 4:14Speaker 4: it doesn't feel no, it becomes real money again. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:19Speaker 4: coins are fake money, fake money anything which points fake
- 4:24Speaker 4: money not actually a real purchase. Basically financial advice right there.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Did we get a good review this week?
- 4:31Speaker 4: I was an award winning financial advisor. Yep, we did.
- 4:35Speaker 4: We got a beautiful review this week. Would you like
- 4:38Speaker 4: me to read it out?
- 4:38Speaker 2: Yes? Yes, please?
- 4:40Speaker 4: This one comes from Linn Britt. I don't know if
- 4:43Speaker 4: her name's Britt or Linn to use the name, but
- 4:46Speaker 4: five star review. I stumbled onto the She's on the
- 4:49Speaker 4: Money podcast a few weeks after I had separated from
- 4:52Speaker 4: my husband, and it was a godsend. I devoured all
- 4:55Speaker 4: of the previous episodes and have religiously listened every week
- 4:58Speaker 4: for the last several years. All the ladies and the
- 5:01Speaker 4: show are so relatable, even though they are so diverse.
- 5:04Speaker 4: Victoria's financial knowledge has supported me to set up an
- 5:07Speaker 4: emergency fund, manage my cash flow so that I could
- 5:09Speaker 4: buy my husband out of our joint mortgage. Yes gross,
- 5:14Speaker 4: arranged my kids to be beneficiaries for my superannuation and insurances,
- 5:18Speaker 4: and I've started investing and I'm in the most secure
- 5:21Speaker 4: financial position I've ever been in, despite now relying on
- 5:25Speaker 4: just one wage. I wouldn't have done any of that
- 5:28Speaker 4: without Sheese on the Money being so accessible and easy
- 5:31Speaker 4: to understand. Thanks a million times over. Oh God, that
- 5:34Speaker 4: is so illeged. Leaving your husband and being more financially
- 5:40Speaker 4: stable than ever and arriving and that's like, that is
- 5:43Speaker 4: what people are so stressed about, like, oh my god,
- 5:45Speaker 4: I'm going to leave, I'm going to do this.
- 5:47Speaker 2: It's going to become a clown car like what. But
- 5:50Speaker 2: you've got your stuff together.
- 5:51Speaker 5: That's incredible. That is so that would be not a
- 5:55Speaker 5: easy task at all. That's really really right.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I love our community. I know of what you go achieve.
- 6:00Speaker 2: I love that you give us some credit.
- 6:02Speaker 4: But I think it's also so important that wasn't us
- 6:05Speaker 4: we had a podcast, but like this podcast has existed
- 6:08Speaker 4: for so long. Yeah, and that doesn't mean that we
- 6:12Speaker 4: do the work for you. We can't do the work
- 6:14Speaker 4: for you. If I could, I would totally like I'd
- 6:17Speaker 4: be like, let me get your bank accounts, but unfortunately
- 6:20Speaker 4: you actually have to do the work. Like kudos to you,
- 6:22Speaker 4: because yeah, we gave you the information, but like when
- 6:26Speaker 4: people get the information.
- 6:27Speaker 5: And do nothing with that exactly me for example, And
- 6:30Speaker 5: so you you actually got it, you did.
- 6:32Speaker 4: It, are though, and last year became an investor.
- 6:35Speaker 5: Beck, Oh true, look at her go I wanted to
- 6:40Speaker 5: check that.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 4: Alright, moving on, miss Jess, you got some money wins
- 6:45Speaker 4: and confessions to share with the fam?
- 6:46Speaker 2: I sure do. First of this week, I've got one
- 6:49Speaker 2: from Olivia, who I just wanted to say we have
- 6:51Speaker 2: matching profile pictures. She's a photo of the tar her
- 6:53Speaker 2: out front of the taj my Hull twinty.
- 6:55Speaker 4: I thought she borrowed your photo and I'd be like,
- 6:59Speaker 4: the time, you do look really cute, but that's weird.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Olivia said, I'm a bit addicted to chat GPT now,
- 7:06Speaker 2: and she said, can we all elect to use just
- 7:09Speaker 2: the free version? She said she's someone who struggles with
- 7:11Speaker 2: meal planning and staying under budget, so she'll ask a
- 7:14Speaker 2: questions like give me lunch ideas based on the coll
- 7:16Speaker 2: specials this week, or give me some dinner ideas that
- 7:18Speaker 2: I can cook in under twenty minutes with fruits and
- 7:21Speaker 2: veggies that are currently in season. She said it's also
- 7:23Speaker 2: great when she needs to reduce her takeaway cots and
- 7:26Speaker 2: she asks it what she can use based off what's
- 7:28Speaker 2: in her fridge. I adore it.
- 7:30Speaker 4: And for those of you who are like, oh, chat GPIT,
- 7:33Speaker 4: it's only okay, you're not giving it enough information. You
- 7:37Speaker 4: need to prime that baby so well and be so specific.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Like the more specific the better it takes. All of
- 7:44Speaker 4: that Intoicate said, I love it in our team chat
- 7:47Speaker 4: GPT is a team member called Gizelle. You asked Gizelle
- 7:53Speaker 4: to do that, she will do it. She's a model,
- 7:55Speaker 4: she's so good like that exactly.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Just what else have you got?
- 7:58Speaker 6: Next?
- 7:58Speaker 2: I've got money in from Chow said I started turning
- 8:01Speaker 2: things off at the wall socket and I had my
- 8:04Speaker 2: power bill. WHOA, she said, you got the second bill
- 8:07Speaker 2: since studying, and it was eighty seven dollars. That what
- 8:11Speaker 2: what for the month was for the quarter? For the
- 8:13Speaker 2: I'm assuming for the months. That's really really I really
- 8:16Speaker 2: love that.
- 8:17Speaker 4: I think that is great. I'm a skeptic and think
- 8:20Speaker 4: that there's a bigger issue in the Maybe you had
- 8:22Speaker 4: a piece of equipment that was draining your power significantly
- 8:26Speaker 4: or was not working.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I feel was really high. But one of those tester
- 8:30Speaker 2: things that you can plug things into.
- 8:33Speaker 4: Yeah, one of those.
- 8:35Speaker 2: In a good way.
- 8:36Speaker 4: I can also imagine her getting a hard hat, putting
- 8:38Speaker 4: it on and walking around there.
- 8:44Speaker 2: I'm going to inspect this. It's the cutest image. Next,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I've got to own you in from Abby, who said
- 8:50Speaker 2: she got a four hundred and twenty dollars refund from
- 8:52Speaker 2: the ATYO because she had previously paid off her hex
- 8:54Speaker 2: after the big indexation. How good. I feel like a
- 8:56Speaker 2: lot of people have probably seen that rolling out over
- 8:58Speaker 2: the past few weeks, haven't looked at your hext.
- 9:01Speaker 4: We've got a lot of people in our community as
- 9:03Speaker 4: well who choose to still contribute to their hex quote
- 9:06Speaker 4: because they told their employer that it's still there, and
- 9:09Speaker 4: then at tax time they get a heap of money
- 9:11Speaker 4: back because they're like, I'm so bad at saving, so
- 9:14Speaker 4: I'm just going to do this. Whether or not that's
- 9:16Speaker 4: a good strategy is still to be determined, but it's
- 9:19Speaker 4: just a strategy, and an interesting one at that.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Next, I've want of money in from Molly, who said
- 9:24Speaker 2: she logged into her iron G bank account to see
- 9:27Speaker 2: she'd been gifted one hundred dollars as part as their
- 9:30Speaker 2: giving program is give iron G very clever whoever came
- 9:33Speaker 2: up with that. In the marketing team, she covered lunch
- 9:35Speaker 2: for her and her friends on Saturday's on Money Team
- 9:40Speaker 2: also free money, saying where is it?
- 9:44Speaker 4: Yes?
- 9:44Speaker 2: Lease thanks? Last of this week, I've got money from Holly,
- 9:47Speaker 2: who said she just Molly and Holly.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I like it.
- 9:49Speaker 2: That actually is very cute. I didn't even realize that
- 9:51Speaker 2: money in from Holly who said she just grabbed groceries.
- 9:54Speaker 2: Thanks to every Day Rewards and Flybys points, she spent
- 9:57Speaker 2: a little over ten dollars instead of three hundred and twenty. Sorry,
- 10:00Speaker 2: what crazy working the system? He has hacked the system.
- 10:06Speaker 2: That's so good.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I'm so impressed. But like proof that it all adds up.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're an everyday rewards person, turn on your
- 10:12Speaker 2: savings thing now for Christmas because you can turn it
- 10:14Speaker 2: onto your points bank. So I'm not. I'm not. I'm
- 10:17Speaker 2: a Coles girlie.
- 10:18Speaker 4: I am a coldly I'm going to hack the fly
- 10:21Speaker 4: By system this year. You best believe one pass. Watch out, Yeah,
- 10:24Speaker 4: watch out for you. Watch out if you think I'm
- 10:27Speaker 4: not going to abuse your system within the breadth that
- 10:29Speaker 4: you've set.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Yeah, she's milking it.
- 10:33Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm going to milk it for all you are
- 10:35Speaker 4: going to let me have It's excited, clever. Have you
- 10:38Speaker 4: got some broke tips this week?
- 10:40Speaker 5: Okay, So I don't know if anyone listened last week,
- 10:44Speaker 5: you might have heard me mention I'm kind of doing
- 10:46Speaker 5: some more hinge things this year, more unhinged than last.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Year, more unhinged than last year.
- 10:51Speaker 4: Would we be concerned for your mental health? Yeah?
- 10:53Speaker 2: I think, so you let me know what you need,
- 10:56Speaker 2: and I'm right here.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Well, this one actually comes from clothes. This one was unhinged,
- 11:01Speaker 5: but I really like it. I know it's silly and.
- 11:03Speaker 4: Probably maybe still saving money. Yes, exactly, so clothes, there's unhinged.
- 11:08Speaker 4: But put clothes that are too big in the dryer
- 11:10Speaker 4: so they shrink and fit you better.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Honestly, I've done that, but honestly I do.
- 11:13Speaker 4: That with my genes all the time. Like my jeans
- 11:16Speaker 4: are one. It's too big because I ordered them on
- 11:18Speaker 4: the Iconic and I couldn't be bothered returning them, and
- 11:20Speaker 4: so I put them extra hot in the dryer and
- 11:22Speaker 4: now they fit.
- 11:23Speaker 2: So yeah, personal, it's fantastic. Yes, there you go. I've
- 11:26Speaker 2: really really back this.
- 11:27Speaker 5: I think, don't buy new clothes, just keep drying them
- 11:31Speaker 5: til they get small, like that Picasso. This next one
- 11:34Speaker 5: comes from I believe the names Owen, but I could
- 11:37Speaker 5: be wrong. So I care memberships are apparently free, and it
- 11:40Speaker 5: means you can return your furniture within three hundred and
- 11:42Speaker 5: sixty five days for a full refund if you do.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I can't key membership.
- 11:45Speaker 4: I don't know. So you're saying, if I'm moving to
- 11:47Speaker 4: Melbourne for six months, I could dip my house out
- 11:49Speaker 4: in I Care furniture then for genal That's what.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I'm thinking, Never do that. Who's an option?
- 11:55Speaker 5: It's an option, but genuinely that's what I'm thinking. I'm like,
- 11:58Speaker 5: you want to impress someone, you have someone coming over
- 12:01Speaker 5: for a date. Now I've got my I K Calyx
- 12:03Speaker 5: shelves with the tags still on.
- 12:06Speaker 2: They're not coming off. Yeah, Like I think that's really really.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I'm impressed totally. That's actually really good to know.
- 12:13Speaker 2: And especially it's a big trip to IKr. So it's
- 12:15Speaker 2: like if you go and you buy stuff and then
- 12:16Speaker 2: you don't need it and you're like, well, I'm not
- 12:18Speaker 2: going to get there for another six months.
- 12:20Speaker 4: That's the time where you didn't measure your ceiling height
- 12:22Speaker 4: and bought a Christmas tree that was too big?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Is it like that arguably very comparable? Yes, I like it. Yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 5: It's also like if you move into a house and
- 12:32Speaker 5: then you leave after a year after your lease over,
- 12:34Speaker 5: and you're like, oh, what do I do this stuff?
- 12:36Speaker 5: I'm going to take it back to by K And
- 12:37Speaker 5: then this next one comes from myself obviously, have you
- 12:40Speaker 5: guys sort of mister Rebates.
- 12:42Speaker 4: Not yet, but I'm sure you're going to teach us. Yeah,
- 12:44Speaker 4: I think I myster rebates.
- 12:47Speaker 2: I know it's like fun, it's giving mister minute.
- 12:49Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I don't know what that is, but I'm like,
- 12:53Speaker 5: is that a.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Yeah? Okay, you only last time something of all able
- 13:02Speaker 2: to use a slur. It's not just.
- 13:06Speaker 5: No, but mister Rebate is very It's similar to your
- 13:09Speaker 5: cash backs or your shot backs of the world things
- 13:11Speaker 5: like that.
- 13:12Speaker 2: Yes, okay, mister rebates, mister rebates.
- 13:14Speaker 5: And I was like, I was just looking at it
- 13:15Speaker 5: because I was like, oh, I need to buy some
- 13:17Speaker 5: pre workout.
- 13:18Speaker 2: There's no way my supplement store is going to be
- 13:20Speaker 2: on here. It was the random stores.
- 13:23Speaker 5: In't there that that like, it's just like you wouldn't
- 13:25Speaker 5: no one's I've never heard of it.
- 13:27Speaker 2: How did you find out about it?
- 13:28Speaker 4: Because sometimes I feel like I live under a rock
- 13:30Speaker 4: and I you know, obviously I am very privy to
- 13:33Speaker 4: like shot back and cash rewards in all of those
- 13:34Speaker 4: platforms because I use them and love them. I've like,
- 13:37Speaker 4: sometimes I can't even remember how I found them. Where'd
- 13:39Speaker 4: you find mister rebates?
- 13:41Speaker 5: God, I got to tell you, I have not a
- 13:43Speaker 5: single clue.
- 13:44Speaker 2: It must have been like a TikTok. I think a
- 13:46Speaker 2: TikTok to TikTok.
- 13:47Speaker 4: It's changing lives.
- 13:48Speaker 5: It's really like, I'm really on on money talk at
- 13:51Speaker 5: the moment.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Yeah, money talk is a good place to be. Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 4: I'm on cosmetic talk and I'd like to get off
- 13:56Speaker 4: it because I keep buying more cosmetics.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Mecca called me. How we change our algorithm? Anyway?
- 14:02Speaker 4: You can reset your algorithm? How Yep, you can go
- 14:04Speaker 4: in and completely clear your cage and like it will
- 14:07Speaker 4: reset and give you a brand new for you page
- 14:10Speaker 4: if you were sad for some reason.
- 14:11Speaker 2: I don't want to do that.
- 14:13Speaker 4: I want to lose it because I feel like it's
- 14:14Speaker 4: reflective of my personalityxation.
- 14:16Speaker 2: See that no one knows us like TikTok knows exactly.
- 14:19Speaker 4: All right, let's go to a really quick break because
- 14:21Speaker 4: on the flip side, we are going to be talking
- 14:23Speaker 4: about a money dilemma, which this week is all about
- 14:25Speaker 4: how to finance a removable home, And we're going to
- 14:28Speaker 4: be chatting about something that you lead into our DMS,
- 14:31Speaker 4: about ADHD tax and feeling like a burden on your partner.
- 14:35Speaker 4: So guys, don't go anywhere Welcome back, everybody. Let's take
- 14:42Speaker 4: a listen to this week's money dilemma. Hi, there, have
- 14:47Speaker 4: you got a money dilemma you just can't solve. The
- 14:50Speaker 4: Sheese on the Money team is here to help. Every
- 14:52Speaker 4: week we tackle your dilemmas, both big and small, to
- 14:55Speaker 4: answer your most burning money.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Career and life questions.
- 14:58Speaker 4: To get involved, we head to our website and leave
- 15:01Speaker 4: us a short voice recording, and you might just find
- 15:03Speaker 4: yourself on the show. Now, let's take a listen to
- 15:06Speaker 4: this week's money dilemma.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I vi Juria.
- 15:11Speaker 7: I'm wondering if you should shed some light on removable homes.
- 15:15Speaker 7: I'm looking at buying a few acres in the upcoming
- 15:18Speaker 7: years as I have horses. However, there are some great
- 15:21Speaker 7: block with night houses on them. I have briefly locked
- 15:24Speaker 7: into removable homes through a local company and they seem
- 15:28Speaker 7: somewhat affordable. I'm wondering how they work in regards to
- 15:32Speaker 7: the mortgage and the loans I deal. I would like
- 15:35Speaker 7: to buy the block and the house within a relatively
- 15:39Speaker 7: closed time frame. I'm the first home over. Is it
- 15:43Speaker 7: in the scope of a mortgage rife to it'ssis being
- 15:45Speaker 7: a through removable home? As long as the block of wed.
- 15:49Speaker 7: Do I get a mortgage that will cover both or
- 15:51Speaker 7: will I need to have put warns for any information
- 15:54Speaker 7: on removable homes and buying block would be great.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Thank you, I got it, not a whole lot. I'm
- 16:00Speaker 2: gonna be honest with you.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Well, you've never mortgaged a removable.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Home, and even no what a removable home was inuntil
- 16:07Speaker 2: just then.
- 16:07Speaker 4: Okay, So removable homes are increasing in popularity, which kind
- 16:11Speaker 4: of makes sense.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Because everything's so expensive.
- 16:15Speaker 4: And this is you need to have a chat with
- 16:17Speaker 4: a mortgage broker because a removable home could mean a
- 16:21Speaker 4: plethora of different things, Like are you talking about like
- 16:24Speaker 4: a caravan that you're going to put there, at which
- 16:25Speaker 4: point you probably don't need counsel approval, But if you're
- 16:28Speaker 4: going to put like a whole setup and plummet in,
- 16:30Speaker 4: and it's like technically if you're home kind of like
- 16:32Speaker 4: a tiny home, you're going to need counsel approval for that.
- 16:35Speaker 4: So you're going to need to look into it. So
- 16:37Speaker 4: we need to talk about what a broker would do.
- 16:41Speaker 4: So land easy, bread and butter. We can get you
- 16:44Speaker 4: land finance because it's a secure asset. It's quite hard
- 16:48Speaker 4: to secure finance for the home because it's actually not
- 16:52Speaker 4: that stable, Like it's not seen as an asset that
- 16:56Speaker 4: they can flog off and get their money. But like
- 16:58Speaker 4: the bank can't just liquidate it and get rid of it.
- 17:00Speaker 4: And the other issue and the reason that a bank
- 17:04Speaker 4: is very unlikely to connect the two so go, oh yeah,
- 17:07Speaker 4: no worries because like stepping back for a minute, if
- 17:11Speaker 4: you were asking a mortgage broker to help you finance
- 17:14Speaker 4: a home and land package, is it great, We do
- 17:16Speaker 4: that all the time. But you're asking a broker to
- 17:19Speaker 4: help you finance a removable home which arguably adds no
- 17:22Speaker 4: value to the land. And because it doesn't add any
- 17:25Speaker 4: value to the land, the bank is very unlikely to go, yeah, sure,
- 17:30Speaker 4: have even more money on this loan that is now
- 17:33Speaker 4: not as secure as it was before.
- 17:35Speaker 2: So even if it.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Did add some value, the value would only be able
- 17:38Speaker 4: to like be counted after the move had been completed,
- 17:42Speaker 4: if that makes sense. So when you talk to a broker,
- 17:46Speaker 4: obviously take everything with a grain of salt. All of
- 17:49Speaker 4: these situations are going to be different, but they're going
- 17:52Speaker 4: to be able to assess your personal situation and work
- 17:55Speaker 4: it out. But the broker will probably have a look
- 17:58Speaker 4: at financing the land and really bread and butter normal,
- 18:02Speaker 4: then maybe trying to finance the tiny home via mortgage
- 18:05Speaker 4: if that's an option, if it's seen as stable. We
- 18:08Speaker 4: don't know, maybe there's some issues with how big it
- 18:11Speaker 4: is and the footprint and whatnot, and you know how
- 18:13Speaker 4: quote removable it is. But on the flip side, you
- 18:17Speaker 4: might also need to go down a more unsecured finance
- 18:20Speaker 4: root for that, or you might save up buy the
- 18:24Speaker 4: property on finance and then use the cash that you
- 18:26Speaker 4: have for the tiny home because often tiny homes are
- 18:29Speaker 4: significantly cheaper than like proper homes. Right, So there are
- 18:32Speaker 4: a lot of different options, but I think it's important
- 18:35Speaker 4: to start conversations probably now with a broker around what
- 18:38Speaker 4: that might look like, because the last thing you want
- 18:40Speaker 4: is to find the perfect block of land and find
- 18:42Speaker 4: the perfect home and then realize I actually can't finance
- 18:46Speaker 4: any of this because the bank actually won't finance the
- 18:49Speaker 4: home and I don't have the cash to do that,
- 18:51Speaker 4: or I need all the cash to get the block
- 18:53Speaker 4: of land as my deposit.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Right, So just work out all.
- 18:56Speaker 4: The moving parts and what that would look like, because
- 18:59Speaker 4: they're all going to be very different, but I wouldn't
- 19:03Speaker 4: be surprised if the route you go down is kind
- 19:05Speaker 4: of like personal finance for the house in the same
- 19:08Speaker 4: way that you might personally finance like a Winnebago or
- 19:11Speaker 4: a caravan or something like that.
- 19:14Speaker 2: There you go.
- 19:15Speaker 5: I mean, like, whatever you do, good luck on your journey.
- 19:18Speaker 5: It sounds like a really sounds like a really cool idea.
- 19:20Speaker 5: I feel like I would like to in my head
- 19:22Speaker 5: it was like a freedom right tent or something, but
- 19:26Speaker 5: no fold up ten. It's a tiny hoe that makes
- 19:29Speaker 5: so much sense. For some reason, I thought it was
- 19:31Speaker 5: something like that, like something fold down. But that's really cool.
- 19:34Speaker 5: I feel like the freedom to just be like, I
- 19:36Speaker 5: don't want to live here anymore.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Yea, yeah, doing whatever you want?
- 19:42Speaker 7: All right?
- 19:43Speaker 4: Do you want to get into this week's DM Absolutely?
- 19:45Speaker 2: Of course you do. You ready? Yeah?
- 19:47Speaker 4: Hey, she's on the money. I really need some advice
- 19:49Speaker 4: because I feel like I'm letting my partner down. I
- 19:52Speaker 4: have ADHD, and while there always are so understanding, I
- 19:55Speaker 4: can't help but feel like a burden. We are always
- 19:58Speaker 4: paying the ADHD tax because I forget to pay the
- 20:01Speaker 4: bills on time, and then we get hit with fees,
- 20:03Speaker 4: and I procrastinate on big purchases, so the price goes up.
- 20:06Speaker 4: My partner has had to take over most of the
- 20:08Speaker 4: financial management to keep us on track, and even though
- 20:12Speaker 4: they never complain, I know it's exhausting for them. They're
- 20:15Speaker 4: patient and supportive, but every time I mess up, I
- 20:18Speaker 4: feel like I'm adding to their stress. It's hard to
- 20:21Speaker 4: not feel inadequate when they're picking up the slack for
- 20:23Speaker 4: something I know I should be better at. I want
- 20:26Speaker 4: to contribute more and be a true partner, but I
- 20:29Speaker 4: don't even know where to start. I just want to
- 20:31Speaker 4: find a way to lighten their load without making things
- 20:34Speaker 4: worse or feeling like.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I'm failing them. That breaks my heart. You're feeling that way.
- 20:39Speaker 2: That sucks. Yeah, I get that.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I live adhd Well, that's it exactly exactly I think.
- 20:45Speaker 5: With my partner Jess, I'm like constantly, like constantly barking
- 20:49Speaker 5: on about mental load, mental load, and like she's very
- 20:53Speaker 5: organized and things like that. So I'm like hyper aware
- 20:55Speaker 5: of that and I don't want her to like take
- 20:57Speaker 5: on more than she needs to. I don't want to
- 20:59Speaker 5: like stress or exhausts her. She is just naturally better
- 21:02Speaker 5: at those things. That's something you must keep in mind
- 21:03Speaker 5: that if your partner does not have ADHD, maybe they're
- 21:06Speaker 5: this kind of stuff like life admin and stuff might
- 21:09Speaker 5: not stress them out.
- 21:10Speaker 2: As much as someone who does have ADHD.
- 21:13Speaker 5: So that's something to keep in mind, but not to
- 21:16Speaker 5: say that don't worry about it, that'll be fine.
- 21:18Speaker 4: They can deal with that kind of thing. Just to
- 21:20Speaker 4: say that you can wear this much too, yeah, totally.
- 21:23Speaker 4: Well that's just me, that's just how I am.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Yeah, totally totally, so I can completely understand that. But yeah,
- 21:30Speaker 5: I think when you are conscious of a mental load
- 21:32Speaker 5: and then you're like, I'm going to make sure I'm
- 21:34Speaker 5: really good at this.
- 21:35Speaker 2: I'm going to make sure that I remember this, and.
- 21:37Speaker 5: Then you just consistently are like, oh crap, this person
- 21:40Speaker 5: had to remind me to do this or whatever.
- 21:42Speaker 2: It's like, I feel like I'm failing.
- 21:43Speaker 5: But I'm curious to know if this If our listener
- 21:46Speaker 5: has any kind of like For example, for me, I
- 21:49Speaker 5: have Google calendar that sink also to my phone. I
- 21:53Speaker 5: check it every day, and also have like an everything
- 21:55Speaker 5: literally list that says everything every day and it's every
- 21:58Speaker 5: single thing I have to do every single day, including
- 22:01Speaker 5: brushing my teeth, including I'm impressed every sability, yeah, and
- 22:06Speaker 5: everything I need to check like petrol, everything, everything, because
- 22:10Speaker 5: there's something that's going to be lacking and I'm going
- 22:12Speaker 5: to forget about it for months. And so I wonder
- 22:16Speaker 5: if our listener has any of those, like alarms to
- 22:19Speaker 5: alarms constantly going off on my phone for things like
- 22:21Speaker 5: I just dismissed No, so that doesn't work for me.
- 22:23Speaker 2: That's fair final work.
- 22:25Speaker 4: But the list thing, that's why I'm known for my
- 22:27Speaker 4: cleaning schedule. Like people are like, oh my gosh, V
- 22:31Speaker 4: so organized. No, V so disorganized. That's why she needs
- 22:35Speaker 4: a whole schedule. This is when this has to happen.
- 22:38Speaker 4: And this is when this has to happen, because like
- 22:39Speaker 4: I get overwhelmed, and so if you said, hey, they
- 22:42Speaker 4: on Tuesday you have to clean the house where yeah,
- 22:45Speaker 4: oh my god, you start get analysis paralysis and then
- 22:49Speaker 4: you know what we're doing. We're actually just going to
- 22:51Speaker 4: organize the cosmetics. Yeah, we're actually just gonna pull the
- 22:56Speaker 4: entire laundry apart and reassemble it. And then you're going
- 23:00Speaker 4: to come home and did I'm mop the floors? Absolutely not.
- 23:03Speaker 4: But look at this other thing that I did pantry organization, Stella.
- 23:08Speaker 4: Why is the bathroom an absolute mess?
- 23:11Speaker 2: Victoria. Yes, the priorities are off. That is why I
- 23:14Speaker 2: need a whole schedule.
- 23:15Speaker 4: If this is what happens on a day to day basis,
- 23:18Speaker 4: this is what happens on a week to week basis,
- 23:20Speaker 4: and every month, this is what I do because when
- 23:22Speaker 4: I'm feeling overwhelmed, I go back to my list. And
- 23:24Speaker 4: I think that that is a really great coping tool
- 23:28Speaker 4: for ADHD because then your job is to just check
- 23:31Speaker 4: the list. And in this situation where you're managing finances,
- 23:36Speaker 4: maybe you need to write a list of like every
- 23:38Speaker 4: week I pay for netball, and every month I pay
- 23:40Speaker 4: my phone bill, and like you have a date that
- 23:42Speaker 4: you go through and check and pay those things. So
- 23:44Speaker 4: instead of like, oh, every week, I will make sure
- 23:47Speaker 4: that I check X, like you know what date it
- 23:49Speaker 4: comes in, so on that week that gets paid on
- 23:51Speaker 4: that date. How I do manage it just as somebody
- 23:54Speaker 4: who doesn't struggle with these things.
- 23:56Speaker 2: No, I think for most people that exist somewhere obviously,
- 24:00Speaker 2: neurodivergens is a spectrum. There's so many different things, and
- 24:02Speaker 2: I think a lot of what can be done regardless
- 24:06Speaker 2: of you know what kind of point of difference you
- 24:08Speaker 2: have is finding coping mechanisms that work for you. So
- 24:11Speaker 2: you've both just listed two different you know, types of
- 24:13Speaker 2: or ways of doing things that work really well for
- 24:15Speaker 2: you guys. They might not work for somebody else. But
- 24:17Speaker 2: I think it's about a little bit of trial and error,
- 24:20Speaker 2: like trying list error is trying, you know, remind us
- 24:23Speaker 2: of your phone trying like some people use what is
- 24:26Speaker 2: it like audio, some kind of audio thing. Like, there's
- 24:30Speaker 2: lots and lots of different things out there, and I
- 24:32Speaker 2: think it's largely about finding what works for.
- 24:34Speaker 4: You to do, because it's like the alarm thing you
- 24:36Speaker 4: said that worked for you.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I tried all idea, and.
- 24:39Speaker 4: It's not because I think I'll switch it off. It's
- 24:41Speaker 4: because I put all the alarms. I went in and
- 24:43Speaker 4: I set them all up. Because like one thing that
- 24:45Speaker 4: we're good at is like the motivation at the start
- 24:48Speaker 4: to get it all organized. Did that and then I
- 24:50Speaker 4: see it pop up and I'm like, I don't want
- 24:51Speaker 4: to do that, dismiss and then I never think about
- 24:54Speaker 4: it ever again.
- 24:54Speaker 2: Yeah, there's trial and error to find what works for you.
- 24:56Speaker 2: I also think perhaps automation of your bank account so
- 24:59Speaker 2: having money ortomatically debit from one plate, you know your money.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Maybe you have a bill's fund. Yeah, all your bill's
- 25:03Speaker 2: autod debbit out of there, and it's set up so
- 25:05Speaker 2: you actually can be quite hands off, but everything goes
- 25:08Speaker 2: where it needs to go, so it can debit and
- 25:10Speaker 2: you can do that.
- 25:11Speaker 4: I think a lot of people assume that, Oh, if
- 25:13Speaker 4: the you know, phone company, for example, didn't offer a
- 25:16Speaker 4: direct debit option, I can't do that, like I have
- 25:18Speaker 4: to manually do it. But you can go into your
- 25:20Speaker 4: bank account and set up an automatic transfer on a
- 25:23Speaker 4: particular date to a specific account number and BSB code
- 25:27Speaker 4: or a bpay reference like and you could go, okay, well,
- 25:31Speaker 4: every month, I know that my phone bill is thirty
- 25:33Speaker 4: five dollars, so two days after the bill comes in,
- 25:37Speaker 4: in my head, I'm going to set up that automatic
- 25:39Speaker 4: thing and then if I go over then at least
- 25:42Speaker 4: I know.
- 25:42Speaker 2: The base bill is covered. Yeah.
- 25:44Speaker 4: So I think that that is a really good wages
- 25:46Speaker 4: of automating things because it's like one and done. You
- 25:48Speaker 4: set it all up and then just check in on
- 25:50Speaker 4: it every couple of months to make sure that things
- 25:53Speaker 4: haven't changed and they're still going through and like, that's
- 25:55Speaker 4: a good idea. Yeah.
- 25:57Speaker 2: The other thing I would say is, like I guess
- 25:59Speaker 2: the moretional aspect of it is I would remind you
- 26:02Speaker 2: that a partnership is exactly that, Like there's it's give
- 26:06Speaker 2: and take, and so it's filling the gaps, you know,
- 26:09Speaker 2: of where the other might have. What is a mental
- 26:11Speaker 2: crack for you might be something that's so simple for
- 26:13Speaker 2: your partner. So rather than feeling like you're a burden,
- 26:15Speaker 2: which I'm sure that you're not, I would say, what
- 26:18Speaker 2: are your strength what are your strong suits? Like, I'm
- 26:20Speaker 2: sure that there are things that you're really good at.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Do you get your you know, hyper fixated and a
- 26:24Speaker 2: cleaning task? Can you once a month do a deep
- 26:27Speaker 2: clean of a part of the house, or can you
- 26:30Speaker 2: take on, you know, yard duties, or can you walk
- 26:32Speaker 2: the dog every day? Or is there something that you
- 26:35Speaker 2: can do with you know, within the realm of what
- 26:37Speaker 2: needs to be done as a part of your partnership,
- 26:39Speaker 2: within the household that you can take on that then
- 26:42Speaker 2: comes off your partner's plate. Because I think it's all
- 26:44Speaker 2: about balance and just because you know, you feel like
- 26:47Speaker 2: they're taking a lot of the mental load. I think
- 26:49Speaker 2: it's really kind that you're so aware of this and
- 26:51Speaker 2: wanting to make sure that it's good and that's awesome,
- 26:53Speaker 2: but also give yourself some grace and know that there's
- 26:55Speaker 2: absolutely somewhere within the relationship that you can add value
- 26:59Speaker 2: and that you can do whatever what you're really good at.
- 27:01Speaker 2: And I think that you know you've said your partner
- 27:03Speaker 2: doesn't complain, they love you, right, Like, at the end
- 27:06Speaker 2: of the day, we.
- 27:07Speaker 4: Love my partner, and I still complain. So interesting, but
- 27:10Speaker 4: we you know, a.
- 27:11Speaker 2: Partnership is appreciating someone good and bad. You're seeing arguably
- 27:17Speaker 2: the worst, probably.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Got some things that they're like, oh my god, I
- 27:19Speaker 4: wish I was better at XYZ for my partner, So.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Talk to them, be like what can I do? Like,
- 27:24Speaker 2: what's something like if it's not finding you know, if
- 27:27Speaker 2: you get to the point where say I've tried all
- 27:28Speaker 2: the things, I've set the alarms, I've done the bladh
- 27:30Speaker 2: lah dah, and it just doesn't work for me, go Okay,
- 27:33Speaker 2: what's a different area that I can focus on that
- 27:35Speaker 2: I can then add my own value? And I think
- 27:38Speaker 2: that's very valid and fair too. Yeah, no, I like it,
- 27:40Speaker 2: we very well said. Yeah.
- 27:41Speaker 4: We did also ask the community. So we said, in
- 27:43Speaker 4: your relationships, how has managing finances worked. Fifty five percent
- 27:48Speaker 4: of you said, one person naturally takes charge.
- 27:51Speaker 2: I think that's very common.
- 27:52Speaker 4: Twenty nine percent of you said it's usually shared pretty evenly,
- 27:54Speaker 4: and sixteen percent of you said, I've only ever managed
- 27:57Speaker 4: my own. We then asked how if you ever felt
- 28:00Speaker 4: like you're letting down your partner financially. Thirteen percent of
- 28:04Speaker 4: you said, oh, my god, all the time, thirty five
- 28:07Speaker 4: percent of you said yeah, sometimes, and fifty two percent
- 28:10Speaker 4: of you said no, I'm pretty on top of everything.
- 28:12Speaker 2: Wow. Okay, she's on.
- 28:13Speaker 4: The muddy clean like a sligh but for this community member,
- 28:17Speaker 4: not relatable. We then said, all right, what are your
- 28:19Speaker 4: two cents? One person said, try out a money date
- 28:23Speaker 4: every so often and do it together. Automation is going
- 28:26Speaker 4: to be the best hute. Someone else said, their partner
- 28:29Speaker 4: sounds like a gem. It's okay to have different strengths
- 28:31Speaker 4: in a relationship. Someone else said, your ADHD isn't a burden.
- 28:35Speaker 4: It makes you caring and special and that is so valuable.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I love that.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Ye I love that too, but I'm not gonna lie
- 28:43Speaker 4: my ADHD. It's a superpower. It's fantastic. It's also a burden, Like,
- 28:48Speaker 4: don't get me wrong. Like on one side, I'm like, oh,
- 28:52Speaker 4: it's why I'm as successful as I am, and it's
- 28:55Speaker 4: why I get to do what I do, and it's
- 28:56Speaker 4: why I you know, function well in all these spaces.
- 28:59Speaker 4: But like, my gosh, it is a burden on the
- 29:02Speaker 4: flip side. And I'm not disagreeing with you. This is
- 29:04Speaker 4: a really nice sentiment, but to sometimes say like, oh,
- 29:07Speaker 4: it's not a burden at all, Like, girlfriend, I'm stressed.
- 29:10Speaker 2: That is a burden, Like.
- 29:12Speaker 4: I just need to work through it, and I just
- 29:14Speaker 4: need a framework or a structure that works for me.
- 29:16Speaker 4: And it's work to then get to that framework or structure,
- 29:19Speaker 4: because it's so disheartening when you try something right, like
- 29:21Speaker 4: when you go through your phone and you set up
- 29:23Speaker 4: all the alarms so that everything happens, and then you
- 29:27Speaker 4: literally it just doesn't work, and you're like, nothing's gonna work.
- 29:30Speaker 4: You just need to like have a bit more grit, Yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 4: try and try again and find another solution, because I
- 29:35Speaker 4: promise there'll be one that fits. It just might not
- 29:36Speaker 4: be that one. Yeah, someone else said I feel like
- 29:40Speaker 4: this with my chores. I have ADHD and struggle with
