- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:45Hi, it's Adam here. And in this hypnosis session,
- 0:48you'll be listening to a session to release somatic pain and
- 0:54somatic pain, a good way of thinking about this is kind of
- 0:57emotion stored somewhere in your body.
- 1:01And that can sound strange or unbelievable to certain people,
- 1:06but I'll give you a few examples.
- 1:09A lot of the time when people feel excited, they'll use the
- 1:14word they feel. Butterflies.
- 1:16That is a somatic sensation. They feel the emotion
- 1:20physically, or if someone feels really anxious, they feel like a
- 1:24knot in their stomach. Again, it's somatic.
- 1:27The client that I was working with.
- 1:30Had. Almost like a block in their
- 1:33throat. And they felt this ever since
- 1:36something that they felt was unjustified happened.
- 1:39They were very angry, but they couldn't speak up.
- 1:42So they had that. And they also had this kind of
- 1:45heavy and tightness in their. Chest.
- 1:47Which was linked to a lot of anger, frustration and a feeling
- 1:52of unfairness linked to a lack of consideration.
- 1:56So what I was doing in this session is 2 key things. 1 is a
- 2:04protocol that helps to release physical sensations linked to
- 2:08emotions. The goal is to disassociate
- 2:12certain emotions that may have been useful in the moment, but
- 2:15certainly aren't useful after that.
- 2:17Things like anger and hate and frustration and resentment and
- 2:24all of these things not good to keep them in the body.
- 2:27And a lot of people suppress their emotions.
- 2:30They try and sweep them under the carpet, but that normally
- 2:34comes out in unintended ways. The goal?
- 2:37Is to release. Them not suppress them.
- 2:39So there's that bit going on here.
- 2:41And then there's also what's called a disassociation.
- 2:45Of. A traumatic memory, they said.
- 2:48Look, can you just hypnotize me to make these painful memories
- 2:51go away? So you're going to hear a
- 2:54variation of what's called the swish pattern.
- 2:56So they imagine. Associated reliving the moment,
- 3:00condensing that image down into a dot all the way into the sun,
- 3:03and then observing how they would want to have been in the
- 3:06same moment. As a resourceful version of
- 3:09them. So there's a little bit going on
- 3:12here, but at its core, it's about releasing emotions from
- 3:16the past, these emotions trapped as a physical sensation
- 3:20somewhere in the body. And lots of people, if you have
- 3:23conversations with people as I do, and you say like where do
- 3:26you feel that anger in your body, don't be surprised if
- 3:29people start pointing to different locations.
- 3:31For some people, it's in the. Jaw some people around the.
- 3:34Temple, some people feel it in their chest, their heart, some
- 3:37people in their hands and it's because the body experiences
- 3:41emotions in a physical way. You've probably heard of
- 3:44something called synesthesia. Synesthesia is where people link
- 3:50sounds to colours and and those things.
- 3:52A lot of people if they read something in capitals.
- 3:55They make it. Like it's shouting in there in a
- 3:57dialogue. So we have this ability to map
- 4:00sensory modalities across and they change things.
- 4:04A physical sensation, like pain or tightness, linked to an
- 4:09emotion we all feel. That.
- 4:11But some people are more aware of it than others and obviously
- 4:14this extreme you feel it even more so if you feel that there
- 4:18is a physical sensation. In your body.
- 4:20Linked to. Certain moments.
- 4:23Tightness around the throat, you know the chest, some sensation
- 4:27in your body that you don't like.
- 4:29Then I think you'll get some value from this session.
- 4:31It was calibrated to the individual in front of me.
- 4:35There is no video for this one because they were in the room.
- 4:39I only recorded the audio. So you're going to see if you
- 4:42are watching this on YouTube, some kind of effects and things
- 4:45like that, but you know. It's it's.
- 4:49Because it was done in that in that context.
- 4:51But the essence of this is that it was created for that
- 4:54individual. If you like something calibrated
- 4:57to you releasing emotions or feeling different, maybe about
- 5:01some people in your life, that might be.
- 5:02Colleagues or. You know people, extended family
- 5:06and you want to feel different. There will be a link in the
- 5:08descripcion where you can schedule that free consultation
- 5:10call to exlore working with me directly.
- 5:13For now, though, find a quiet, comfortable place where.
- 5:16You won't be disturbed. Relax and enjoy.
- 5:19The session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 6:15you breathe in, breathe in that resourceful feeling of calm and
- 6:21relaxation. And as you exhale, just allow
- 6:29any feelings of stress, worry, or tension to feel like it's
- 6:35slowly leaving your body in your outward breath, breathing in
- 6:42that. Relaxation.
- 6:45And that's releasing that tension as you use the power of
- 6:55your imagination to imagine a private beach, maybe a Cove with
- 7:05soft white sand, still waters. Imagine a paradise beach.
- 7:17Maybe there's palm trees, blue skies and sunshine.
- 7:24I want you to imagine that this beach is a sanctuary, a place of
- 7:33peace, safety, and pure relaxation.
- 7:42And I want you to imagine somewhere on this beach is the
- 7:47most luxurious, comfortable lounger that you could imagine,
- 7:53with the perfect view of the ocean.
- 7:59And next to this lounger are two empty travel suitcases, both in
- 8:08silver. But ignore these suitcases for
- 8:12now and just imagine walking to that lounger, lying on the
- 8:20lounger, allowing your body to sink into that reclined lounger.
- 8:30Imagine wearing whatever clothing is appropriate to be
- 8:34there on that beach, feeling the warm sun on your skin, hearing
- 8:45the gentle breaking of the waves on the shore.
- 8:50I want you to feel a wonderful feeling of deep, deep
- 8:55relaxation. I want you to scan your body for
- 9:02any clues of tension. And shortly I count down from
- 9:0712:50 and with each descending number you will feel a sense of
- 9:13release. Let's start with the top of your
- 9:18head. 10 Scan the top of your head, your scalp, your forehead
- 9:27for any clues of tension or stress as you breathe in that
- 9:32relaxation and exhale that tension, just allow it to leave
- 9:36your body in your outward breath.
- 9:42And then 9, focus now on all the tiny muscles in your face,
- 9:49around your nose, your cheeks, your mouth.
- 9:55Become aware of any tension. And then just exhale that
- 9:58tension on your outward breath. And now, 8, focus on your jaw,
- 10:07all the muscles that go down from your ear to your chin.
- 10:13Release any tension. Now feeling a wonderful sense of
- 10:20your head getting heavier and more relaxed there on that
- 10:23recliner. They're on that beach.
- 10:28Eyelids getting heavier and heavier as eight turns to seven.
- 10:33Now focus on your neck and your shoulders.
- 10:37And for many people, the neck and the shoulders is where
- 10:41stress is stored. But imagine that stress melting
- 10:46away like an ice cube under the sunshine.
- 10:50Just see that ice cube melt away and feel like that's what's
- 10:54happening in any tension in your neck and shoulders.
- 10:59That's it. And then imagine an ice cube
- 11:07there in your throat, feeling like something is blocking, but
- 11:14because you're breathing in that warm, resourceful relaxation,
- 11:18imagine that melting. So any tension there in your
- 11:22throat is also melting away. Now the seven turns to six.
- 11:30Your arms get heavier, limp and loose, more and more relaxed.
- 11:40That's it. And then even your internal
- 11:43organs start to relax. Allow your heart to relax, your
- 11:47lungs to relax, even your stomach, all the way down to
- 11:51your diaphragms. You're breathing deeper now,
- 11:55less from your chest and more from your belly.
- 11:58Deeper and deeper, relaxed as five turns to 4.
- 12:03Focus now on your gut. For many people, that's where
- 12:09anxiety is stored. Feel that start to melt away as
- 12:15the relaxation ripples down into your legs.
- 12:19That's it. Legs getting limp, loose and
- 12:22heavy just like the arms. Three goes down to two.
- 12:26Now focus on your lower legs, your calf muscles, your ankles.
- 12:31Just feel that tension melting away and then one down into your
- 12:36feet, your toes rippling all the way up with relaxation to the
- 12:41top of your head and then back down to your fingertips as you
- 12:46feel so relaxed. It's almost like you're drifting
- 12:50off into a dreamlike sleep. In fact, imagine all of those
- 12:58times that you had a nap on the beach and sometimes you had
- 13:02vivid dreams while napping on the beach.
- 13:06And I want you to drift to that place where you can have a vivid
- 13:10dream that you are now standing beside yourself, seeing your
- 13:16physical body asleep in that recliner.
- 13:21But I want you to imagine how good it would feel to lift up
- 13:26those two small suitcases. You remember the ones, the
- 13:31silver suitcases, one in each hand.
- 13:36They're empty. They just weigh maybe two or
- 13:40three kilos. And I want you to walk with
- 13:45those empty suitcases into the sea.
- 13:50Not deep into the sea, just where your ankles occasionally
- 13:54have the waves rippling up. So imagine looking back and
- 14:02seeing that other version of you fast asleep on the lounger.
- 14:08And then imagine holding those two empty suitcases, one in the
- 14:11left hand, the other in the right hand.
- 14:16They're empty. They feel light.
- 14:21But I'm going to ask you to scan your body for emotions and to
- 14:26transfer those emotions into the suitcases.
- 14:33And each time you transfer an emotion into the suitcase, your
- 14:38body will feel lighter and the suitcase will feel heavier.
- 14:46And let's start with stress. Scan your whole body for any
- 14:53clues of stress. You've already let go of so
- 14:57much, but any more stress, Just move it from your body down your
- 15:04arms into the suitcase. It could be one in particular or
- 15:08both at the same time. And notice those bags get a
- 15:12little bit more heavy. And now I want you to scan your
- 15:20body for any frustrations. There might be things you've
- 15:30been frustrated about, or maybe things that you're still
- 15:35frustrated about. Frustration normally means
- 15:41you're on the verge of a breakthrough, and you can hold
- 15:45on to that knowledge that you are about to breakthrough
- 15:50without needing to hold on to the frustration.
- 16:00So transfer that frustration from wherever it is in your body
- 16:07into the suitcases, and the suitcases get heavier.
- 16:16But now let's do some more intense emotions.
- 16:21And the first is anger. Maybe you were angry at someone,
- 16:30and maybe that anger still exists within you.
- 16:33For some people, anger is close to the heart, near the chest.
- 16:41But I want you to scan your body for where you feel any echoes of
- 16:45anger, and when you find it, let me know by nodding your head and
- 16:54then mentally shifted from that location to the suitcases.
- 17:01But anger is a heavy emotion, and when you move it from that
- 17:07location down your arms into the suitcases, you feel lighter, you
- 17:14feel with more energy. And it's the suitcases that now
- 17:20feel heavy as you feel that release.
- 17:28I want you to scan your body now for any hate.
- 17:34Maybe there's things you hate, people you hate, situations you
- 17:40hate, but hate is like drinking a poison and hoping someone else
- 17:48gets sick and you don't need that poison within you anymore.
- 17:55And if you can scan your body for where that hate is, let me
- 18:00know if I'm nodding your head that's in and then shift it.
- 18:06Breathing in and breathing out is the pump that shifts the hate
- 18:11from your body, down your hands, your arms, into the suitcase.
- 18:17And hate is just as heavy as anger.
- 18:20And you can feel those suitcases getting heavier and heavier.
- 18:29And now, sadness. Sadness normally comes when
- 18:36promises are broken, pain was incurred, moments happened that
- 18:47shouldn't have happened. Sometimes we feel that in the
- 18:53throat. More often than not, sadness is
- 18:57in the throat and not the heart. I want you to scan your body for
- 19:05where you feel that sadness or just echoes of sadness.
- 19:11When you find it, let me know by nodding your head.
- 19:15That's it. And then shifted.
- 19:17Breathing in and breathing out pumps the sadness from that
- 19:20location down your arms into the suitcase.
- 19:24And the suitcase are feeling heavy now.
- 19:27So heavy. Scan your body now for any
- 19:33regrets. People regret 2 main things.
- 19:40Things they did they wish they didn't, or things they didn't do
- 19:47but wish that they did do. And regrets can be heavy.
- 19:54And they're heavy because we can't change the past.
- 19:58But the goal of a regret. Isn't to change the past, it's
- 20:03to extract the wisdom. So you change the future.
- 20:08So extract all of the wisdom from those regrets.
- 20:13But you don't need to hold on to them anymore.
- 20:19Shift those regrets down your arms into the suitcases.
- 20:24And if the suitcases are getting heavier and heavier, let me know
- 20:26by nodding your head. Those suitcases are full of
- 20:35anger and hate and frustration and stress and regrets.
- 20:44But now scan your body for resentment.
- 20:49Resentment takes place when you hold a grudge, a bad feeling
- 20:55against someone. The antidote to resentment is
- 21:04acceptance. You don't have to forgive them,
- 21:10just accept that that is who they are.
- 21:17Would you get angry at a snake if it bites you?
- 21:20Or would you just think that that's what snakes do and you
- 21:26need to keep your distance from a snake?
- 21:34If you can get to that place of accepting the people that have
- 21:39hurt you shown a lack of consideration.
- 21:45Forgiveness is just an option, not an obligation.
- 21:50But if you can accept that those people are those people, and you
- 21:59get to decide how you respond going forwards, let me know by
- 22:05nodding your head as you move that heaviness of resentment
- 22:09down your arms into the suitcases.
- 22:11And the suitcases are getting heavier and heavier and heavier
- 22:15now and then. Scan your body for any other
- 22:21emotions. Could be helplessness,
- 22:26voicelessness, be annoyances, anxieties and worries.
- 22:36Just scan your body for anything else that feels like it's
- 22:40trapped in your body's tissue, held in your heart, your bones,
- 22:47your muscles or tendons. Just move it from those places
- 22:51into the bags. And I want you to imagine the
- 22:55bags. Are so heavy.
- 22:59It's almost like 20 kilos worth of weight in each arm.
- 23:06I want you to get a sense then carrying a weight that heavy in
- 23:12your hands would toughen up your hands in the same way that all
- 23:17of these emotions that you've experienced that you've been
- 23:19holding onto toughened you emotionally.
- 23:27You are more resilient now than you've ever been, and you are
- 23:32wiser now than you've ever been. So allow your mind to come to
- 23:38the conclusion that you don't have to be less sensitive to
- 23:45become more resilient. Those emotional calluses are
- 23:51there to protect you, to help you remain sensitive.
- 24:02And then imagine walking into the sea with those bags.
- 24:18I want you to imagine it's time to let go of all of this
- 24:21emotional weight. And I want you to imagine seeing
- 24:31a mythical creature, maybe a mermaid, maybe something else.
- 24:42Imagine it getting close to you, and as you let go of the bags,
- 24:46feel the release of all of that emotion.
- 24:51And then imagine that. Creature takes those.
- 24:55Bags far, far away. You retain the wisdom, the
- 25:02knowledge, the experiences, but no longer have to hold on to all
- 25:06of that emotional weight anymore.
- 25:15And then while you're standing there in the sea, imagine
- 25:18looking up and seeing a huge screen in the sky, like a
- 25:25projector, a cinema screen just hovering over the sea.
- 25:32And I want you to see a memory, a time when you were treated
- 25:39badly, you were bullied, someone showed you some lack of
- 25:47consideration or just a moment that was traumatic or caused
- 25:51anxiety in some way. Just one memory and see that
- 25:58giant image like you're back in your body and what you're seeing
- 26:02is through your own eyes, and then shrink that memory down and
- 26:11send it all the way into the sun.
- 26:15Millions of miles into the sun. Imagine that memory burns to a
- 26:18crisp and then from the sun a new memory.
- 26:24A new thought. Arrives and I want you to see
- 26:29yourself in the same situation, like you're someone else, but
- 26:34this time see you handling the situation differently because
- 26:40you have more emotional resilience.
- 26:45The other person, if there is one, does the same thing, but
- 26:50your reaction is different. See yourself with strong
- 26:56boundaries, clearly communicating what you are or
- 27:03not prepared to do. I want you to see yourself with
- 27:08the expression of being unbothered, unfazed, almost like
- 27:14what is happening is insignificant to you.
- 27:17And if you can see that version of you being unbothered by the
- 27:24same memory that caused that intense emotional reaction, then
- 27:30let me know by nodding your head.
- 27:33And then imagine floating up from the sea and going into that
- 27:36version of you in that image, that movie, where you become
- 27:40that person. Imagine the other person is
- 27:44saying things, are doing things that in the past would have
- 27:47created a reaction, but now you feel ambivalent.
- 27:52You feel like there's a force field around you that you can
- 27:56respond rather than react to feel less triggered, to feel
- 28:01more empowered, feel more confident, to feel resilient
- 28:08and. When you feel.
- 28:12Those empowering emotions let me know by nodding your head.
- 28:18Hold on to that thought as you are priming your subconscious to
- 28:23access this state the next time someone does something similar.
- 28:29You don't have to take the bait. You don't have to react.
- 28:35Anger, frustration, hate are all choices and I want you to feel
- 28:43that you are too discerning to waste these emotions and people
- 28:48or situations that don't deserve it.
- 28:53Imagine leaving that future version of you and floating back
- 28:57to the beach, seeing that version of you.
- 29:00There's been a fast asleep all of this time on the lounger.
- 29:05And then imagine stepping into that version of you, taking all
- 29:07of these changes with you. You've let go of all of those
- 29:11heavy emotions and you've awakened confidence, resilience,
- 29:19and notice a level of relaxation around your throat, in your
- 29:24chest that feels wonderful. That's it.
- 29:31And then imagine leaving the recliner, walking on the beach
- 29:34and deciding it's come to the time to return to the present.
- 29:41Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your
- 29:46nose. Just wiggle your fingers and
- 29:49wiggle your toes. Connect and calibrate into the
- 29:51here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 29:58you. Starting to count 123 waking up
- 30:04456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 30:09Open your eyes 910. Wide awake.
- 30:13Wide awake. Wide awake.
