- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi. It's Adam here, and in this
- 0:42episode of The Hypnotist, you're going to be listening to a short
- 0:45hypnosis session that was created for a client that had an
- 0:50upcoming meeting, an upcoming interaction with someone that
- 0:54they felt on edge around. They kind of felt that they
- 1:00might get anxious or panicky in that situation.
- 1:04And we call this anticipatory fear, when there is an
- 1:08anticipation of how you would feel in a situation that you
- 1:12haven't encountered yet. And the interesting thing about
- 1:15this is that quite often you get a false positive.
- 1:18The anxiety that you imagine that you feel for something that
- 1:22is in the future never comes to pass.
- 1:25And then you had real anxiety for a thought, even though the
- 1:29actual experience doesn't cause any anxiety at all.
- 1:33So therefore what that does is it gives us evidence that
- 1:36thoughts can create really powerful emotions like anxiety.
- 1:42And some people will have that from a memory.
- 1:45So a memory will trigger anxiety or regret or frustration and a
- 1:51future thing that hasn't happened yet may never happen
- 1:55can also do that. And this particular client would
- 1:59take on a first person perspective.
- 2:00So for the therapist listening to that, you'll get an
- 2:03appreciation of levels of disassociation.
- 2:07I encourage the client to observe themselves like they're
- 2:11someone else. So that's one level of
- 2:13disassociation. And they had a disassociated in
- 2:18a dialogue. And I know it was disassociated
- 2:21because when it's associated in a dialogue, it's stated in the
- 2:24first person, like I'm feeling anxious or I'm worried or I feel
- 2:29panicky. A disassociated in a dialogue is
- 2:32when the voice is still in their head, but it says you're
- 2:35anxious, you're going to mess things up, you're going to get
- 2:38panicky, they're going to see the your, your face changing
- 2:43colour it it's stated in you, which is the third persons that
- 2:46generally disassociated. So instead, I wanted the client
- 2:51to be their own in a dialogue, to see themself initially as it
- 2:57as they as they thought it would be, then replay it as they would
- 3:00want it to be with them being their own in a dialogue to
- 3:05almost train their brain to kind of associate it with confidence
- 3:09and feeling at ease and then to experience that in a first
- 3:13person perspective. So it's always good to
- 3:16disassociate from unresourceful States and associate into
- 3:20resourceful states. There is one caveat to that, by
- 3:24the way, and that is that if you want to change an addiction or a
- 3:27habit, then it is good to associate into the horrible
- 3:33emotions of what would happen if you don't change.
- 3:37So actually if someone, you know, let's say, smokes a lot or
- 3:41takes a particular drug and they imagine what 30 years of doing
- 3:45that would have on their body, if that freaks them out, then
- 3:48that's a good thing because it creates change.
- 3:51But generally, it's not good to feel associated into
- 3:54unresourceful states. So disassociate from that and
- 3:58then associate into a resourceful state is really what
- 4:01you can hear in this session. And I think it will be useful
- 4:05for anyone with social anxiety or anxiety at public speaking or
- 4:09anxiety with meetings or anxiety with authority figures.
- 4:13They're the key things that it could help with.
- 4:16This is just a short recording that followed a session.
- 4:20A lot of the work with that we did was in the session.
- 4:23You know, most of what I do with clients isn't actually the
- 4:26hypnotherapy bit, it's all the talking that takes place before
- 4:28them. But this is a final bit to help
- 4:31the client with this upcoming meeting.
- 4:34Obviously it was created for someone else, so if you do like
- 4:36the idea of working with me in a more bespoke way, it's why I'm
- 4:40working with you rather than just hearing my recordings.
- 4:43Check out the show note because there will be a link to book a
- 4:46free 30 minute consultation call and then we can have a chat so
- 4:49you can decide if I'm the right hypnotherapist to work with you
- 4:52and your specific situation. For now though, find a quiet,
- 4:57comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 4:59Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:54you breathe in, breathe in a resourceful feeling of calm and
- 6:00relaxation. And as you exhale, feel a
- 6:05wonderful sense that any sensations of anxiety, worry, or
- 6:12fear is starting gradually. The feel like it's dissolving or
- 6:21detaching, feeling like it's shifting or just being exhaled
- 6:29in your outward breath. And perhaps you could imagine
- 6:37the most wonderful intense feeling of confidence, self
- 6:45assurance, absolute self belief, and imagine breathing in that
- 6:52feeling of confidence and self belief.
- 6:57And the more of this self belief that you breathe in, the more it
- 7:02starts to melt away. Fear and worry.
- 7:07Any anxiety starts to dissolve, erode.
- 7:15And then imagine feeling that sensation of anxiety leaving
- 7:23your body in the outward breath as you imagine that just by
- 7:30breathing in and breathing out, you're breathing in confidence
- 7:34and exhaling anxiety, enabling you to feel more.
- 7:43I'm more confident with each and every breath.
- 7:52I want you to use the power of your imagination to imagine
- 7:59something in the future that you've been worrying about.
- 8:04And to begin with, I want you to imagine you're an observer,
- 8:12seeing that future moment the way that your fear is worried
- 8:18that it may be. Maybe you see something
- 8:23happening that you wouldn't want, but make sure you see
- 8:29yourself like you're someone else.
- 8:33Maybe you see yourself in a particular situation or a
- 8:37particular location. See it as the mind is telling
- 8:41you that that's not what you would want to happen.
- 8:49But notice by being the observer you get access to reconnaissance
- 8:56insight, things that may help you prepare or mitigate risk.
- 9:05Not every worry is useless. Sometimes a good worry can help
- 9:14you prepare. So allow that to happen.
- 9:19Allow you to treat it like reconnaissance, giving you a
- 9:24feedback loop. So anything you can do
- 9:26differently, you will do differently.
- 9:32But sometimes people play the same movie, The same fear, the
- 9:37same worry, on a loop again and again, not to extract wisdom,
- 9:44but just to anticipate something happening the way they don't
- 9:50want it to happen. So let's try something else.
- 9:57As you breathe in and breathe out, play it one last time as
- 10:02you think your fears want you to see it.
- 10:05And then rewind it. And this time, I want you to be
- 10:13the voice of your inner dialogue.
- 10:18I want you to see that version of you, and either out loud or
- 10:24telepathically, just project what you would want that version
- 10:28of you to hear inside your own mind.
- 10:33Tell them they've got this, they'll be fine.
- 10:37You can handle this. This is well within your
- 10:42capabilities. The more confidently you project
- 10:48those words into the mind of that version of you, the more
- 10:54confident or relaxed you seem. And if you do see yourself with
- 11:01a burst of anxiety, see that version of you handling it
- 11:08quickly and easily, perhaps with just a deep outward breath or a
- 11:16smile or something else. Keep observing yourself until
- 11:25you have it exactly as you would want it to be, and allow
- 11:31yourself to be the voice of your own inner dialogue.
- 11:38You've got this. You can handle this.
- 11:42This is easy for you. And once you're sure that that
- 11:50version of you can handle that situation, rewind it and step
- 11:59into that thought. Play it forward, but now from a
- 12:05first person perspective, feel like you're in your own body.
- 12:10And then hear that voice, a confident voice.
- 12:16And if there is a second voice of warning or fear, dial it
- 12:22down, make it silly or quiet, or just push it far away.
- 12:31And it's not just the voice of anxiety.
- 12:34You can send off far away any feelings of anxiety, just decide
- 12:42that they can go away as well, that it isn't desirable in this
- 12:48situation. It's in the feelings away.
- 12:54Send the thoughts away, but keep the thoughts of confidence that
- 13:00you can handle this, that you are capable, that you can manage
- 13:05whatever comes your way. And notice that as you focus on
- 13:10that, it becomes true. The more you focus on it, the
- 13:17more true it feels. And just imagine experiencing a
- 13:22future that hasn't happened yet the way you would want to feel
- 13:26it. You feel relaxed, calm and
- 13:29confident. Any words you need come easily.
- 13:36It feels comfortable for you. The voice of encouragement, of
- 13:44confidence, of belief is loud and clear and encouraging, and
- 13:50any other voices of anxiety seem so far away you can barely hear
- 13:55them. And you get to do this as many
- 14:01times as you want until you find something that feels right, that
- 14:09it feels that if you felt this way in the future, everything
- 14:15would be fine. And what if this is you priming
- 14:21your mind to feel this way? But if you are manifesting it,
- 14:28laying the foundation, so when you're in this situation or
- 14:31something like it, you then feel confident, you feel strong, you
- 14:38feel capable. And if anything doesn't go to
- 14:42plan or there's any unexpected bursts of anxiety, just feel
- 14:47that. You can exhale the anxiety in an
- 14:51outward breath quickly. Just allow it to leave your
- 14:56body. And when it does, you can
- 15:01recalibrate, noticing that your breathing from your diaphragm
- 15:05rather than your chest, feeling relaxed in your neck and your
- 15:10shoulders. Imagine being in the situation
- 15:14you used to worry about, but now it feels desirable, exciting.
- 15:21It feels something you're looking forward to, to breathe
- 15:28in and breathe out and just feel that wonderful feeling.
- 15:35And then it's time to return to the at the present moment, but
- 15:38with a seed of an idea that that worry is no longer worry.
- 15:44It's a source of excitement. You feel mentally prepared and
- 15:49everything will turn out fine. So take a deep breath in through
- 15:53your nose and out through your nose.
- 15:58Wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes as I now count from
- 16:021:00 to 10:00 to awaken you. You will awaken feeling
- 16:06confident, calm, resourceful and mentally prepared.
- 16:12Starting to count 123 Waking up 456.
- 16:18More alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 16:22Open your eyes 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
