- 0:00Speaker 1: Have you ever tried to buy a pair of shoes
- 0:01Speaker 1: online recently? Maybe a T shirt? Maybe try and book
- 0:05Speaker 1: a haircut online. You'd have been asked a billion and
- 0:08Speaker 1: one questions, what time, what day do you want your haircut?
- 0:11Speaker 1: That stuff's fine. Then they want your name, your address,
- 0:14Speaker 1: your birth date, your postal address, How did you hear
- 0:17Speaker 1: about us? What shampoo do you use? I didn't ask
- 0:20Speaker 1: for all of that. At this point, I'd rather pull
- 0:23Speaker 1: my hair out in clumps than actually go through all
- 0:26Speaker 1: of these stupid, irrelevant questions and actually get my haircut
- 0:29Speaker 1: with you. I've been trying to get paid from newstalk
- 0:32Speaker 1: Z'DB this week. I probably shouldn't talk about this, but
- 0:35Speaker 1: I've been trying to get paid. You see, because it's
- 0:36Speaker 1: important to get paid. You need to pay for things
- 0:38Speaker 1: like haircuts. And I realized this is very dangerous ground
- 0:43Speaker 1: to be treading on. I've only been here a week
- 0:45Speaker 1: and the people here are wonderful, great, excellent people. I
- 0:48Speaker 1: want to make that point, but some of the processes,
- 0:51Speaker 1: oh my goodness, just absurd. You'd think they just want
- 0:53Speaker 1: my bank account, my ID number, whatever, pay me. No,
- 0:58Speaker 1: every personal detail under the sun, they want it. You name, it.
- 1:02Speaker 1: They want it, my sex, probably who I'm having sex with,
- 1:06Speaker 1: my home address, my ethnicity. This is the one that
- 1:09Speaker 1: I couldn't understand. This sent me into a tailspin. Why
- 1:13Speaker 1: do you need the color of my skin to pay me?
- 1:16Speaker 1: And this is not just my employer's situation, by the way,
- 1:20Speaker 1: this is a third party who runs this, so that
- 1:22Speaker 1: there must be plenty of people and companies out there
- 1:25Speaker 1: that are doing this. It's not a legal requirement. And
- 1:29Speaker 1: the stupid drop down box wasn't working for me, so
- 1:32Speaker 1: I wasn't even able to pick my ethnicity. I tried
- 1:35Speaker 1: to pick European and it would have let me. I
- 1:37Speaker 1: tried all of them. I tried to say it was
- 1:39Speaker 1: Chinese or Tino, even Indian, and I'm like, are you
- 1:42Speaker 1: going to pay me in rupees? What is the significance
- 1:45Speaker 1: of my ethnicity to whether I'm getting paid or not? Anyway,
- 1:48Speaker 1: I calmed myself down and sorted that issue out. But
- 1:52Speaker 1: the reason I ask is and the reason I'm talking
- 1:54Speaker 1: about this is because a lot of the information that
- 1:57Speaker 1: we give these companies goes into some big database at
- 2:00Speaker 1: the back end of their computer system, and oftentimes these
- 2:04Speaker 1: computer systems get hacked. Thousands of companies have thousands of
- 2:09Speaker 1: bits of data about us, and they not only sell
- 2:12Speaker 1: it between one another, but as I said, can often
- 2:15Speaker 1: get hacked. So I've come up with an idea, a
- 2:18Speaker 1: bill I'm hoping to get through Parliament. It's called the
- 2:20Speaker 1: Excessive Digital Information Collection Protection Bill. And for every question
- 2:25Speaker 1: they ask us, we get five bucks. And I want
- 2:28Speaker 1: to be able to reject all cookies. You know that
- 2:31Speaker 1: function they have over in Europe that we don't have here.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I want to be able to have that function here too.
- 2:36Speaker 1: And I want the ability to sue if my data
- 2:39Speaker 1: is stolen. And I'm talking billions of dollars. Just go away,
- 2:44Speaker 1: Just stop asking all these questions. It's incessant, it's unnecessary,
- 2:48Speaker 1: and it puts all of us more at risk when
- 2:51Speaker 1: it comes to scammers. It's twenty nine minutes after five.
- 2:55Speaker 1: This is News Talk said BE News is next, and
