Latest / Medsolve Dynamics / Price the AI, Not the Demo: Two Questions Before You Buy Theranostics Response-Monitoring Software
Transcript
- Yoel Bakas: The new AI in radiation oncology is not just reading scans. It's watching whether the treatment is working. Response monitoring software for Theranostics just got announced, and the demo is slick. After 20 years configuring and pricing these platforms from the vendor side, here is the question the demo never raises. Does it have a billing pathway, or is it a cost you carry with no code to bill against? I have not seen this product's pathway yet, and neither has the demo. Most AI here improves the workflow, not the reimbursement. That is a cost center pretending to be an investment. The second question, 18 months out, who owns the output? If the software touches the clinical decision, it touches your documentation and your liability. Before you listen to vendors talk about AI, make sure someone on your side of the table knows what they're talking about and what they're promising. Price it as what it is. AI that does not move a payment line is an operating expense. Run the math before the meeting, not after the invoice.
