- 0:00[SPEAKER_02]: We want to come down through the trunk, down to the roots, and more so into the soil.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_02]: So with any chronic condition, the three roots that I'm always addressing and teaching people to address are the genes, digestion, and inflammation.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_02]: Always, not one of them.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_02]: It's not one root.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_02]: It's three roots, genes, digestion, inflammation.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: Our genes are what we get, but their expression is influenced by how we live.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like getting a deck of you dealt a hand of cards in a game of poker.

- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: I am so thrilled to have you on.
- 6:30[SPEAKER_00]: Girl, you have got quite the story, quite the journey.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: And I love how you've just transformed into that to just helping so many people.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's been really cold to watch you on social media.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Your reals of Mike.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a girl fanning.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so touched.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you so much.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: I'm on bicep fanning, by the way.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_02]: I would say, whatever you just said, say again, because I said, I'm bicep fanning.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: You're so funny.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I love hearing how women take a story of just sadness and it was traumatic and like, become, I mean, you just become unstoppable.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: And now you're taking all of that power in the energy and helping other everyone, not just women, everyone live their best life ever.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: You just inspired me so much.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I can't wait to talk to her.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, thank you so much.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_00]: So you're also the host of the fifteen minute matrix podcast, um, founder of functional nutrition alliance.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: Girl, what do you sleep?
- 7:38[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a lot and I, you know, I'm doing
- 7:41[SPEAKER_02]: writing a book and doing some other things as well.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_02]: But yes, yeah, building a big business, which I didn't expect.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sort of an accidental entrepreneur, but we can get into that.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_02]: I know you probably want to explore the story piece.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: What got me here?
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's always my first question for my guests is like, how did you get here?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: How did this become what you do and how you focus on?
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: And this takes us back how many years ago?
- 8:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's a long time.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_02]: It's my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_02]: My late husband in April of two thousand two thousand.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my gosh.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: So tell us how his brain tumor led to this, this life you live today.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so again, back April of two thousand some time ago, I was working in a completely different industry, but I was already really passionate about food and cooking and health.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: And I think I was feeling some of what I can now look back on and see was the beginning or the percolating of my own auto immunity.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: I have Hashimoto's type of thyroidism.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_02]: autoimmune hypothyroidism.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_02]: So I was always trying to regulate my own health with food.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_02]: So I was a dabler in health and nutrition.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_02]: But I worked in book publishing.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: I had a completely different career.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_02]: We then got pregnant and my husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor out of the blue.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_02]: And when we were seven weeks pregnant.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_02]: And so
- 9:09[SPEAKER_02]: That really catapulted us in our early thirties into the medical system in a way that I had never experienced.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: He had never experienced.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_02]: He went to the doctor for like a broken arm or a sinus infection, but then you're actually in the system.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I was
- 9:28[SPEAKER_02]: seeing something and witnessing something in addition to the brain tumor and all the diagnostics and treatments, but also seeing how the system deals with chronic health issues and people with chronic health issues.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_02]: So I started to recognize some of the gaps in the system that we can talk about really early on where that was kind of a surprise for me, like wait a minute.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_02]: People are treated like third diagnosis.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_02]: And everybody with the same diagnosis is treated the same.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: That doesn't make sense.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: This is my guy.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's right man.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_02]: He's he saw me.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_02]: He's the man like why are he being treated in this way.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: So that really was a big wake-up call for me in terms of how the medical system works.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: Meanwhile, I really turned our attention to everything I could do to support making a difference in his lifespan.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: He was given six months to live.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: He lived on his own.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: He was diagnosed.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_02]: He lived almost two and a half years.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_02]: So he was alive to see our son born.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_02]: He died when our son was nineteen months old at my kitty here with me.
- 10:37[SPEAKER_02]: leave me at the moment.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, that was a big, that time is what I sort of think of as my boot camp in nutrition because I was looking into what is everything and anything we could do in addition to what he was doing medically.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: So it took time after he saw me pass away for me to realize this is really my calling.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_02]: There are a lot of gaps to fill in healthcare even when we are dealing with a chronic health condition even when we are embracing the medical model and what we can do there.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_02]: There's still a lot that can be done and that's where I started to study and focus my attention.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: I got to ask when he was diagnosed, what was he experiencing that made you even go in and start seeing prior neurologist and then let's a great question.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's got a brain tumor.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it wasn't even a neurologist.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_02]: It was right away, you know, very quickly and you're on college.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_02]: So it was very sudden.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_02]: He had a horrible headache.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_02]: I actually kind of dismissed it the time because I was having morning sickness.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, you're never sick.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: You have no pain tolerance.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_02]: But he had a severe headache literally led him to fall to his knees and vomit on the sidewalk.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, OK.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: We got to call.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_02]: You went to the doctor for sinus infection.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_02]: Took some antibiotics.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_02]: And so we spoke to an on call doctor.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: She said if it's like this tomorrow, call again, we're going to get into the emergency room for a neurological exam.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: That went right over my head at the time, but I remember her saying it.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_02]: And the next day we went to the hospital and from there, he was admitted.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: They had to figure out what was going on.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: They found masses on his brain and had to determine what that was and had a craniumy brain surgery and then one thing after the other, two years of endless treatments.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: I gotta ask, like, as a mom and a female and being pregnant during that time, how did you survive that?
- 12:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: How did you eat?
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_00]: How did you sleep?
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: How did you get through that?
- 12:57[SPEAKER_00]: Because I mean, my heart just breaks hearing this story and I can't imagine having my first born, you know, and being pregnant and growing her and then going through all of this.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: How did that?
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the first thing that comes to mind when you ask that is him, like it was us in it together and he really, I do think gave me the strength and the bubble we created for each other.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_02]: We had family support and friend support, but it really became our thing.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_02]: There was so much love and so much attention on, you know, him taking care of me and my pregnancy and me taking care of him through all the things and
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: We just kind of went into this space that is actually in retrospect a really sacred time for me to think about like all the other things in life, the BS that we deal with every day, day in and day out.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_02]: kind of fell away and the importance of like literal life.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_02]: His, a baby, I'm great.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: Like it was really a precious time together.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_02]: So my answer just said it's essence was I made it through because of him and the love that we had.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I also had a commitment to take care of my body and our baby.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_02]: It was so early on when he was diagnosed that there was a part of me that was giving all my time to him and not to myself.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_02]: That morning sickness, like who cares?
- 14:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like it fades to the background.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that like the big intensity of my morning sickness completely dissolved, right?
- 14:38[SPEAKER_02]: Like the priorities just shift.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I
- 14:41[SPEAKER_02]: step by step was making it forward and through your hand, then for us and our little family.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_00]: So now you're here.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: You have this information.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_00]: They're telling you, you know, this is terminal.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: Like yeah, what was the biggest thing that you noticed right away of life?
- 15:04[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, why is no one talking about this?
- 15:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, no many, you're like looking around.
- 15:09[SPEAKER_00]: You probably had like many of them.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: First one, you're like, am I alone?
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Is anyone else hearing what I'm hearing right now?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 15:18[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, so interesting, such a good question, Melissa, because there isn't, this is a long time ago.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: So the internet was not what it is today.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have a lot of information.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_02]: I can look right now at the books that I was like,
- 15:33[SPEAKER_02]: pacing through to try to figure out something like, you know, his Andrew while and integrative, like, medicine.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_02]: Like, that's all that was really available.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_02]: I read the book Choices and Healing by Michael Lerner, who started Common Wheel in the Bay Area.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_02]: Like, there wasn't a lot.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_02]: And so I started seeing, like, where are their physiological connections that I could propose to Isamu that me try.
- 16:00[SPEAKER_02]: Isamu was my late husband.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, making connections between sugar and the immune system and in particular cell growth and what are the fastest growing cells in the body, the cancerous cells.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_02]: So, do we want to manage blood sugar or at least eliminate sugar?
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't have the language for it.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_02]: I did not know then what I know now.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_02]: did not, but I was able to see some physiological connections, propose it to him.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: Do you want to try doing, you know, eliminating meat from our diet by keeping fish because the brain and the omega threes do we want to try to eliminate refined sugar because and he was willing to do anything.
- 16:46[SPEAKER_02]: This was life and death and it was also
- 16:49[SPEAKER_02]: And he was about to be a father with something he wanted so badly.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_02]: He was so excited and so proud to be a father.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_02]: So he was willing to if he saw the research and understood the why take on.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: anything.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_02]: So to answer your question, I think at the time, I could really quickly see and didn't have the language for it that we weren't thinking in a bio-individual way.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_02]: We weren't thinking this individual is different than that individual who has the same diagnosis.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: We weren't seeing that and we also weren't able to recognize that other factors make a difference that dietary and lifestyle factors
- 17:33[SPEAKER_02]: actually influence outcomes.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: So that understanding was not available, right?
- 17:40[SPEAKER_00]: And now like we know so much more now about the connection between just the brain and gut health, you know, and we didn't have that in two thousand.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_00]: Like that's it just seems like a lifetime ago.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_00]: And do they feel that the changes that you made and things that you were doing is what extended that gap between a diagnosis of like, oh, do you have about six months to live to him living to what'd you say two and a half years?
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I'd like to believe so we never know.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: Right, we will never know for sure what makes a difference in outcomes, but I think the the attempts and the embrace and the fact that we did it with joy and love are also pieces of the equation.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't just eliminating me, which, you know,
- 18:26[SPEAKER_02]: That's particular for a situation.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to say I'm for eliminating meat, right?
- 18:31[SPEAKER_02]: Like that was for that particular situation and eliminating sugar and embracing different or lower glycemic sugars.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_02]: But also, you know, he was meditating and doing chigang and we were going to yoga together.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_02]: And like we were taking walks and enjoying our food.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_02]: I was really making great food for us.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: while we were making changes and learning to bake because they had a sweet tooth.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: So I think it's like the, yes, all of that made life like really rich, even while we were navigating surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, medications, like we were just in this
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: You know, journey together, right?
- 19:16[SPEAKER_00]: What did you do?
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really curious, like, what did you do to make sure that he wasn't just a number or a brain tumor patient?
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: How did you advocate for him through this process?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_00]: Because I'm sure we have a lot of listeners right now going, I might not be dealing with that, but I'm dealing with something very similar, and I have to advocate for myself, or for my spouse or my child,
- 19:41[SPEAKER_00]: What did you do, Andre?
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_02]: Number one, that's such a really brilliant question because I think there's when we are in the medical system, right?
- 19:50[SPEAKER_02]: Like when we are catapulted there for some reason, we feel like we have no control.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_02]: And that was actually he saw his biggest pain point when he did do some EMDR therapy to find like the moment what that was the big trigger for him.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: It was when they put a port in his arm to do a CT scan and when they were done, he said, are you going to take that out and they were like,
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: Nope, we're gonna leave that in now because it gave them easy access and he felt, oh, now I'm there property, right?
- 20:21[SPEAKER_02]: Like they have access to me, to my blood, to my veins to anything they need.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think it's recognizing those moments.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: but also realizing where we do have some agency.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_02]: So one of the first things we did was choose our oncologist.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_02]: We were at UCSF, so UC San Francisco, one of the top brain tumour we were fortunate enough to be living in the Bay Area.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_02]: One of the top brain tumour centers in the country.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: And there were at the time three neuro oncologists, and he was assigned to one.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_02]: And she didn't resonate with him because every time we walked in the room, she greeted him with pity.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_02]: And he didn't like to be greeted with pity.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_02]: That was really the antithesis of his personality.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: And so we went through this like, what do we do?
- 21:13[SPEAKER_02]: That feels bad on top of everything.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_02]: And we were encouraged.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_02]: You get a choice.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: change.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: If you're working with a doctor that doesn't resonate with your beliefs and the way you're working and you do have a choice, we don't always have a choice.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: But if you do have a choice and you feel like in some way, you're not being seen heard or you're being gas lit in some way for your experience, then you get to ask, is there another option for me here?
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: And show up and say, this didn't work for me.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_02]: I'm looking for this kind of relationship.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: Ultimately, we worked with a neuron collegeist that he had a really great relationship with.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_02]: And that doctor also allowed for all the other things.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_02]: He knew this is a young man at the time, young men, young people didn't get that tumor as much.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's changed now, twenty years later.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_02]: There are younger people.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: So it was an older person's disease at the time.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_02]: So that made him stand out anyway and was about to be a father here with his, you know, pregnant wife.
- 22:23[SPEAKER_02]: So he did get attention and they were really behind him and kind of gunning for his success.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: But we could do any, we could say our diet change.
- 22:33[SPEAKER_02]: We were taking these supplements.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_02]: He was doing acupuncture and would sometimes have cupping marks all over his back and they'd just be like, what are these?
- 22:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there was like a lot of allowance for us doing everything.
- 22:49[SPEAKER_02]: And we knew we didn't have to ask for permission from the doctor to do the other things that were between our doctors visit.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_02]: So that's another thing I want to say to all the listeners.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_02]: And this is one of the gaps that exists in healthcare.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: We think our doctor is an expert in everything.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: They're not.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_02]: They're an expert in medicine and medical intervention.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: They don't know about nutrition.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_02]: They don't know about lifestyle changes.
- 23:18[SPEAKER_02]: You're not asking them which toilet paper to use, which laundry detergent, which toothpaste, but a lot of people say my doctor said,
- 23:27[SPEAKER_02]: I can't like diet doesn't matter or that I can't do X, Y and C. You've got a lot of time to take care of you between your doctor's visits and there's a lot of potential there.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm so
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: you said that because we do have a choice and I think that needs to be reminded over and over and over again that like you are in control.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 23:51[SPEAKER_00]: And these are, you know, doctors and the tools, they're all just like these tools that go into our toolbox to help us live our best life.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 23:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and there's so many things and we can get overwhelmed these days with the so many things because there's so much more noise coming at us, but really coming down to the essence of what do I feel helps me in this situation and who is supporting me to make the changes that I believe are going to health outcomes.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: not a quick fix, not a little promise, not a magic bullet, but the bigger changes that can actually make a difference in health outcomes.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 24:30[SPEAKER_00]: What are you seeing right now in like the state of chronic illness in this country?
- 24:37[SPEAKER_00]: You have like, you are in it.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_00]: You are seeing it.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_00]: You are feeling it.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_00]: You have lived it.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_00]: Do we need to be worried?
- 24:44[SPEAKER_02]: Are you worried?
- 24:45[SPEAKER_02]: There is definitely an increase in chronic health issues.
- 24:50[SPEAKER_02]: I want to be clear that like there are different places for chronic health issues to be held and managed.
- 24:58[SPEAKER_02]: So I do think there's a difference between population health and personalized chronic health issues.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I think
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: When we're thinking about chronic health issues, it does become very personalized.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_02]: We do need to make sure there's a more individualized approach.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_02]: No two people with MS or Hashimoto's or Crohn's or Lyme disease or mold exposure or histamine intolerance or cancer or metabolic disorder.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_02]: No two people are the same.
- 25:25[SPEAKER_02]: There might be some
- 25:26[SPEAKER_02]: overarching things that can be done for those conditions that are similar.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_02]: But we do need that individualized support.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: And what we're seeing is that chronic health challenges are on the rise.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_02]: I ironically at the same time that there's more information available to us.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: So clearly, there's a mismatch and the overwhelming of information isn't addressing.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_02]: the issues enough to get to resolution because we're continuing to see them both increase at the same rate.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_00]: What's that tell you right there, you know?
- 26:03[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, Bond Life Fam, I have a question for you.
- 26:12[SPEAKER_00]: Are you the person who crushes it at work?
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: Show us up for your family, check us out every to-do list.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_00]: But when it comes to your fitness, your energy and your confidence.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like something's missing.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: You might be doing the workouts listening to all the right podcasts.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you are listening to this one.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: But deep down, you know you're just kind of going through the motions and you're done playing small in this area of life.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's exactly why I created Fit Mind Coaching.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: My private one-on-one program for high-achieving women and men who are ready to level up.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't just another fitness plan.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_00]: This is about building the body and the mindset to match the life you're working so damn hard for.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: Because success in business means nothing.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: If you're hiding in hoodies, avoiding mirrors or dragging through your day was your energy.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_00]: or showing up on Zoom eating feeling good from the chest up, but crying no one ever sees what's going on below the screen.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about fat loss, muscle building, and real confidence that leads into every area of your life.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: You're bordering your bedroom and your parenting.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_00]: You want it all?
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: Good.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: You should have it all.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: Let's go.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_00]: Click the link in the show notes and book your free policy today.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: Let's build the strongest, most competent version of you inside and out.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: You're ready for more, and I'm ready to show you how.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: Back to the show.
- 27:21[SPEAKER_00]: Do you have any insight on like what we're seeing the most the rising and like do you know statistically what we're seeing an increase in?
- 27:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I think we're seeing a big increase in immune issues, particularly auto immunity, but also allergies, asthma, children with more issues that are immune related.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: We can tie that back to gut health.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_02]: We're seeing a lot express itself in different ways, even if we're looking at contested illnesses like mold or lime that are also on the increase.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, there's the exposure, the mold exposure or the tick bite, but the body has less tolerance for these things.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: And so I think we are dealing with more and more compromised ecosystems that are more susceptible
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: to these chronic conditions.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_00]: Now, you say that people are over-testing in functional medicine.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me about this.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I do.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: I can get on a bit of a soap box.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: That's okay.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: I can get on a bit of a thin on one.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really curious about this.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: So, like, yes, over-testing is I think there's a lot of like over-diagnosing happenings and a lot of things too, especially with like kids and ADHD and like things like that.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious about this over-testing.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and there's a great relationship between the overdue diagnosing and the over testing because we want a name and a label.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, something that tells us what the protocol is because that's how our system works.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_02]: That's how the medical system works.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_02]: And I just want to be clear that when I talk about the medical system, I'm not disparaging it.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_02]: I'm saying it does something really well.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's brilliant at acute care.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: And it's missing the mark a lot of the times on chronic health challenges and the multifactorial approach we need to address those.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_02]: So when we're over diagnosing, we're looking for the label that tells us what the protocol is.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: And a lot of times, again, when it comes to things like mold or ADHD or, you know, even there's so many things that we can look at that aren't actually a diagnosis.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: MTHFR Polymer.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_02]: Like people diagnose themselves with these things that aren't diagnoses because then they think that there is a protocol.
- 29:35[SPEAKER_02]: So we have to recognize what's a diagnosis and what might be downstream upstream, what's a contributing factor.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_02]: So that's one thing with the diagnosing and then I think the testing does the same thing.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I am a fan of baseline serum labs that give us a gross picture and doing the work that we can do with dietary and lifestyle factors to
- 30:00[SPEAKER_02]: see what signs and symptoms shift before we go chasing more information in expensive tests that are going to tell us what we already know.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: And then leave an individual with some notion of a diagnosis that isn't a diagnostic factor.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'm low on bifidobacteria so I can't or my hormones do this so I need, right?
- 30:25[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm not saying any of those tests are bad or long.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: I am going to say a lot of them aren't fully validated so we do have to be aware of that.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_02]: And that for the most part a lot of these functional tests or at home tests are clues at
- 30:42[SPEAKER_02]: best when in the right hands when they're putting the hands of the long provider who doesn't understand them or the patient we start diagnosing ourselves with things that are just underlying factors that could be addressed more broadly.
- 30:58[SPEAKER_02]: We fixate on that.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_02]: We look for the protocol for that and that's not the way through.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and meanwhile, you give someone a diagnosis, and then they're like, they identify with that.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, this is what I have.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: So this is how I behave, and this is what my body does.
- 31:15[SPEAKER_00]: And exactly, oh, my God, it drives me crazy.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_00]: I, people in my life, and very close personal life, they're like, oh, no, I can't.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_00]: Because this is the way it is.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: And there's no help for me.
- 31:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I just have to have pain.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I'm at.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, you have literally identified.
- 31:31[SPEAKER_00]: And like, your whole being is now what you were told you have.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, your mind is closed and that is the path that you're on and that is forever how your body's going to react and respond to.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and we see it a lot with microbial testing with hormone testing and with genomic testing.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_02]: Those are like the popular ones.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_02]: And again, I'm not saying that any one of those are wrong or bad.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_02]: They just need to be used at the right time and in the right way for clinical support.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_02]: But in the wrong hands, they lead to a lot of the wrong interventions and the wrong assumptions.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_02]: by issue with a lot of those tests and there's companies now who are like distributing all of them at once.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_02]: You do a subscription and you get all these tests and nobody knows what to do with those and that all that information and I can tell you if you're not pooping and you're not sleeping, I don't need a microbial test.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_02]: to tell me that there's a disruption in your microbiome.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_02]: We work on feeding your microbiome.
- 32:37[SPEAKER_02]: And there's easy ways to do that.
- 32:39[SPEAKER_02]: We see what shifts with your symptoms.
- 32:42[SPEAKER_02]: If we need more information, we know where to go.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_02]: But people are doing it too early in the process.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_02]: And it's leading to that over identification with something that isn't a diagnosis.
- 32:54[SPEAKER_02]: And there isn't a protocol for it.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_00]: I know, I could like, I like laughing to myself right now because I can relate like in the field of like what I do and I don't need like a fancy test to tell me that someone's hormones are off when their five foot six, they weigh two hundred and fifteen pounds.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_00]: And they have a stagnant life.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, they work at a desk.
- 33:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you know, a lot of fast food, you know, they like the other information is great and you should go to your doctor and get things, you know, whatever looked at baseline baseline.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_00]: But I need the gross information first, right?
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, yeah, how about we start walking?
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 33:30[SPEAKER_00]: We start paying attention to what food you're going is going into your body as fuel.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_00]: And let's see what changes happen from that first.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_02]: Let's save the money, spend it on your services with me, right?
- 33:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like so, you know, I train at functional nutrition lines.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_02]: I'm training thousands of practitioners.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_00]: And we got a
- 33:48[SPEAKER_02]: There is a desire for more testing because they think it validates what they have to say and the other thing I hear is that, but my patients want that or my clients want that.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: They want to see the information.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_02]: And that's where I just feel like track.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: Just look at different set of information.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_02]: We also need to identify the qualitative information, which is what you're talking about.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_02]: How do I feel?
- 34:15[SPEAKER_02]: What's happening with my brain fuzziness, my fatigue level.
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: We have to remember the qualitative information, not just the quantitative information.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_02]: And one thing that's really important to me to position
- 34:31[SPEAKER_02]: is that a lot of the testing and tools and trackers and wearables that are out there.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm wearing my ordering, but a lot of them are tools of optimization.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_02]: And we have to make sure that we're not using the tools of optimization for stabilization.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_02]: So, right?
- 34:50[SPEAKER_02]: All right, that down.
- 34:51[SPEAKER_02]: So, when we're not feeling well or we're not at the place where we're fine tuning the dial, like, you know, the twenty-eight-year-old Jim Bro, who's like just trying to be a little better when we're looking for longevity or we're looking to feel better, we have to make sure that we're starting at the place where we can stabilize because we are not at the stage of optimizing.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, how do you feel like mindset plays a role in all of this and why an intention like I'm really curious of your thoughts on all of that and how that's played into this and what you're seeing to and I don't know.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_00]: I have so many questions about that.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, it's huge and I always say like I'm not a mindset coach, but the way that we are tapped into what motivates us.
- 35:39[SPEAKER_02]: where we feel connection, where we feel meaning, why we're doing what we're doing.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like for me, that's a huge piece of the puzzle.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: So I have a lot of frameworks that I teach into and when it comes to chronic illness, I call it three roots.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: many branches and I'm going to bring us back to mindset.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_02]: So three roots, many branches.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_02]: So if we have chronic health challenges, meaning I'm sick and I'm not getting better.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: Whatever it is, brain fog, belly fat, it's just not going away.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm doing all the things, right?
- 36:09[SPEAKER_02]: That's what we hear a lot.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_02]: That's a branch.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: So the expression of whatever we're feeling, the sign, the symptom, the diagnosis.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: That's a branch on our tree.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: We don't want to address it.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_02]: at the branch level alone.
- 36:22[SPEAKER_02]: Somebody is in medicine addressing the branch.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: But from a functional perspective, we want to come down through the trunk, down to the roots, and more so into the soil.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: So with any chronic condition, the three roots that I'm always addressing and teaching people to address are the genes, digestion, and inflammation.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: Always, not one of them.
- 36:45[SPEAKER_02]: It's not one root.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's three roots.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_02]: Jeans, digestion, inflammation.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: Our genes are what we get, but their expression is influenced by how we live.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like,
- 36:59[SPEAKER_02]: getting a deck of you dealt a hand of cards in a game of poker.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_02]: How you play that game of poker is going to be different for everybody who gets that hand, right?
- 37:09[SPEAKER_02]: So our genes are dealt, but the way they express themselves is how we play.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: Those are called epigenetic factors.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: The epigenetic factors are our food.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_02]: our movement, our environment, and our mindset.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_02]: All of those things influence the expression of our genes.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: So that mindset of the person who's fixated on, I have this.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_02]: This is me.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: This is wrong.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: This is never going to get better.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: I can't lose weight because I've got a or whatever the story is.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's part of the mindset, but we also need to then be able to work
- 37:49[SPEAKER_02]: through.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_02]: Where is that?
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: Why is that?
- 37:52[SPEAKER_02]: What is motivating you?
- 37:54[SPEAKER_02]: Why do you want this?
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: What is this about for you?
- 37:58[SPEAKER_02]: What makes you happy?
- 37:59[SPEAKER_02]: What feels like thriving?
- 38:01[SPEAKER_02]: When did you feel best in your body?
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: Really being able to get into a person's full story helps us to pull out where it's not just you don't have a good mindset.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_02]: But what is their good mindset?
- 38:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me about the other branches.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, so the branches are the same symptoms and diagnosis.
- 38:22[SPEAKER_02]: The roots are gene, digestion and inflammation.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_02]: The soil for the genes is food, movement, food, movement environment and mindset.
- 38:32[SPEAKER_02]: The soil that nourishes digestion is the mechanical, the chemical, the structural, the microbial.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_02]: We're talking about food without talking about digestion.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's not functional.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: So we got to talk about where the food is going in this tube so that you can use it.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: So when we talk about diets like keto or intermittent fasting, even or high protein diets, like those are meant to say, oh, here in theory, this diet helps with this outcome.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: But that's not the case.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: If your digestion isn't primed to be able to receive those Madre nutrients and do what it needs to do.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_02]: So digestion is a root because it's where we can utilize food as medicine in air quotes, right?
- 39:21[SPEAKER_02]: So gene's digestion and then inflammation, inflammation as we know is
- 39:27[SPEAKER_02]: a root of all chronic health conditions, especially what we think of is like the four that lead to more chronic health issues, cancer, metabolic disease, neurodegeneration, all of heart disease.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_02]: The things that are going to really lead to more trouble in life, especially as we age, inflammation is a part of all of those.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_02]: So the soil, the ways we address inflammation are clear.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: come enhance and modulate.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_02]: And when we say clear, it might be that there's an inflammatory mindset.
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: It might be that there's an inflammatory microbe.
- 40:07[SPEAKER_02]: It might be that there's an inflammatory environmental factor.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_02]: It might be that there's an inflammatory food.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_02]: We have to take some time to sit in that discovery of what needs to be cleared.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: Ultimately, my entire system needs to be calmed in order for me to heal.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: I cannot heal in a fight or flight state.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_00]: No, man.
- 40:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, how do you work with people?
- 40:32[SPEAKER_00]: How can people get in touch with you and work with you?
- 40:34[SPEAKER_00]: Tell me a little bit about that and what functional nutritional science does and how that all plays out.
- 40:40[SPEAKER_02]: Well, primarily we teach coaches and clinicians in this methodology really how to work with an individual.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_02]: We have, you know, everybody from like doctors and nurses and dietitians and health coaches and OT's, PT's massage therapist fitness professionals.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: two people who are, you know, really have found health for themselves.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_02]: They're passionate about it and want to see how to bring that message forward.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: So I've trained now nearly nine thousand practitioners in over six to eight countries.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_02]: So it's, you know, it's a big robust
- 41:18[SPEAKER_02]: training and really life changing for folks.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_02]: So that's my passion in the teaching of providers.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_02]: We do have a virtual clinic at the functional nutritional alliance.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then in my personal work at Andrea Nakayama, which will lead you back to the functional nutritional alliance.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm speaking more about the intersection of functional medicine and narrative medicine, which helps us
- 41:42[SPEAKER_02]: pull at what you were talking about a bit with like mindset in a reduced way in which like our narrative and the story we tell and the threads we can pull that help us understand ourselves better our to me a part of the healing journey that is missing in our healthcare our discussions we talk a lot about what's going on and what to do about it but we forget to talk about who am I that got me here right
- 42:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, such a good point, because that person is strong.
- 42:15[SPEAKER_00]: I always say that's like, we have our person A and our person B and the person B is who we strive to be.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_00]: That person A, who we have been for a long time, we can't ignore them.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_00]: They are strong.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_00]: They are familiar to our brain.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_00]: They are there to put up a fight if we try to kick them out and change things.
- 42:31[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, amigdala.
- 42:32[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 42:34[SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, Andrea, this has just been
- 42:37[SPEAKER_00]: amazing.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_00]: I'm so glad that we're on here having this conversation because I know there'll be people listening that are going, oh my god, I needed to hear that.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_00]: I need to fight for myself.
- 42:46[SPEAKER_00]: I need to look at my roots.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_00]: I had asked, I had said before, I'm like, where are these branches?
- 42:50[SPEAKER_00]: I meant roots.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_00]: You got it.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_00]: You knew I was in.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_00]: But people need to hear that and to be reminded of, you know, you're not a lost cause.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_00]: No.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: There's help and hope out there.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I think every time we have just a brilliant guest like you on the show and people hear that they get a reminder of that message and then they take action.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, thank you for hosting the conversation.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: So people
- 43:17[SPEAKER_02]: hand here that and I just want to say like, you know, I have a non-negotiable trifecta and I'm going to share that just because it's easier than we think.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I talked about like, you know, the branches are the sign symptoms and diagnosis and that's something everybody can take away.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I have a sign, a symptom, or diagnosis.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_02]: It's a branch.
- 43:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not where I need to focus my attention.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_02]: Come down to the roots and to the soil.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_02]: But where we can start is with the non-negotiable trifecta.
- 43:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's sleep.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: poop and blood sugar balance.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_02]: Now none of those are a command and none of those are easy.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_02]: But if you have an issue with your sleep or you're staying up too late or you're waking up fatigue, that's where each individual can say, hey, I need help.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, Melissa, I need help with my sleep.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_02]: Like, let's work on my sleep.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_02]: Instead of saying, let's work on my endometriosis or my Hashimoto's or my belly fat or my brain fog.
- 44:15[SPEAKER_02]: Let's work on my sleep.
- 44:17[SPEAKER_02]: I guarantee you that sleep impacts your hormones, it impacts your detoxification, it impacts your gut microbiome, it impacts your inflammation.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_02]: When you pick an area like that to work on and not start looking for the supplements to help you, but look at the patterns and talk with somebody about it.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_02]: You are going to have those downstream impacts that are really significant.
- 44:42[SPEAKER_02]: And each of those three in my non-negotiable trifecta
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: will give you more of the results that you're looking for and then you have a whole bunch of different things that you are looking for help with because you've narrowed it down.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_00]: I think so too.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: It's so crazy.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_00]: You said poop was one of them because I'm surrounded by teenagers teenage girls all the time and I can't believe how many of them say that they don't poop every day.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, you know, girls, they're all chatting.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_00]: They talk about it.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, what did you just say?
- 45:16[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_00]: Like, this is a thing now.
- 45:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't poop to like four days.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_00]: What?
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: Where is the mother?
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: Does she have this?
- 45:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: And that's going to
- 45:26[SPEAKER_02]: while term, cause more and more challenges.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: And so the sooner we hear them say it, the more we can get involved and ensure, like, is there hydration?
- 45:38[SPEAKER_02]: What kind of fiber?
- 45:39[SPEAKER_02]: How are we feeding the micro biome?
- 45:42[SPEAKER_02]: And we can do that easily.
- 45:43[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't have to be all these promised things on Instagram, like hydrates, sleep, eat some fiber.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: All right, three year fruits and vegetables.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: No, they're all living off of like chips and pizza.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: I see pop things and I'm like, no, go eat an apple.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: One is last time you've had an apple.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, girl.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_00]: This has been great.
- 46:07[SPEAKER_00]: This is an amazing.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_00]: And all the moms are listening and they're all going to go ask their kids.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's not a new coat.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the three non-negotiables.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_00]: Girl, where can everyone find you?
- 46:19[SPEAKER_00]: How can we follow you?
- 46:20[SPEAKER_00]: How can we find you?
- 46:21[SPEAKER_00]: Give it to us all.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_00]: We'll put it in the show notes, too.
- 46:23[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_02]: Andrea Nakayama on all the places.
- 46:26[SPEAKER_02]: So Andrea Nakayama.com on Instagram.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, good.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_02]: Soon to be Twitter.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_02]: Not there right now, but should be LinkedIn.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_02]: So Andrea Nakayama, that will lead you back to the functional nutritional alliance, but it's easier to find.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_00]: We'll put everything in the show notes.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_00]: Any idea when your book will come out?
- 46:43[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my gosh, just spoke to my publisher today.
- 46:46[SPEAKER_02]: It's a little bit.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe twenty twenty six.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we'll see.
- 46:50[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you keep us updated.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_00]: I will.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_00]: As when that comes out, I'd love to have you back on.
