- 0:00Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:03access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing genuine
- 0:07issues. Brought to you by the
- 0:10hypnotherapist, demanded by celebrities, CEOs and even
- 0:14royalty. Adam Cox.
- 0:16These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:19world famous Harley Street. This podcast features powerful
- 0:23hypnosis, so do not listen while driving or operating machinery.
- 0:27This recording is not suitable for those with epilepsy or
- 0:30severe mental health issues, so get yourself comfortable and
- 0:34enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:40Hi, it's Adam here. And in this episode of The
- 0:43Hypnotist, you'll be listening to a hypnosis session created
- 0:47for a client that had real issues with food that they
- 0:54hadn't experienced before. And it really restricted the
- 1:00amount of food that they could eat.
- 1:01They were very much reliant on certain snacks and cold foods
- 1:06and very, very limited amounts of hot foods.
- 1:09It would feel daunting, stressful, just sometimes
- 1:15impossible for them to eat certain foods and they didn't
- 1:19want to do this. This wasn't through choice.
- 1:21It was a debilitating aversion or hurdle.
- 1:26So what you can hear in this hypnosis session is a way of
- 1:29framing all of the previous foods that they've ever tasted
- 1:35that they do feel comfortable as manageable stepping stones to
- 1:39other foods like that. And that's how a lot of people
- 1:45that, let's say, are less adventurous with food tend to
- 1:50think anyway. If they've had, you know, an
- 1:53apple before and there's something that's a new species
- 1:56of apple, they have a belief that it's going to be OK because
- 2:00they've had different varieties of apples before.
- 2:03And therefore this creates a very easy, you can think of it
- 2:08as an on ramp. It's a very easy transition to
- 2:11go from eating something to eating something very similar.
- 2:16And when you do that enough, it actually expands like a network.
- 2:20A network is a connected nodes. Each node is like a a point and
- 2:26then off that can come other kind of strands which go to
- 2:30future nodes. So every food that ever had
- 2:33before is like a node, and then the action of trying a different
- 2:38food similar to that create the opportunity to expand the
- 2:42network even more. Nodes are more technical terms.
- 2:47Most people can't think of a node within a network, but
- 2:51stepping stones we can. And therefore, if you think of a
- 2:56stepping stone, and one stepping stone could lead to three or
- 2:59four more stepping stones, and each one of those stepping
- 3:02stones could lead to more stepping stones, pretty soon you
- 3:06can expand way out of where you originally were because each one
- 3:11creates more opportunities to expand further.
- 3:16So I think if you either feel an aversion to certain foods, but I
- 3:22would also say that this session could be really useful if you
- 3:26feel limited in a different area.
- 3:29Let's say it's social things. You could think of the social
- 3:33things that you do feel comfortable with and then think
- 3:36of things very, very similar to that, which then expands that
- 3:39network. And that's really useful because
- 3:41that's how the brain kind of works.
- 3:43Neural pathways are a network. It's not just kind of lines of
- 3:46code. It's a network of neurons that
- 3:49create these neural pathways. And there's a great saying that
- 3:53networks, neural networks that fire together, wire together.
- 3:57And therefore it's quite a good strategy.
- 3:59So to get the most out of this session, to think of an area of
- 4:03your your life that you feel fairly comfortable and then what
- 4:07it would be to expand that, whether it's food related or
- 4:10not. And if that's the case, that it
- 4:12isn't food related, just allow food to be a metaphor to give
- 4:15you an idea of what expanding your comfort zone would look
- 4:18like. Obviously this was created for
- 4:21an individual, so a lot of the suggestions are going to be
- 4:25highly relevant to someone with issues with the variety of food
- 4:28that they were eating. But if you like the idea of
- 4:31working with me bespoke to you and your needs, there will be a
- 4:35link in the show notes where you can schedule that free
- 4:37consultation call. For now though, find a quiet,
- 4:40comfortable place where you won't be disturbed.
- 4:43Relax and enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 5:56you breathe in, breathe in a slow relaxing breath.
- 6:03And as you exhale, just allow your eyelids to close and as
- 6:10they close, feel a wave of relaxation going from your
- 6:17forehead all the way down your eyes, all the way down into your
- 6:22jaw. Just feel that wonderful feeling
- 6:27of calm and relaxation. And when you breathe in, breathe
- 6:36in just ever so slightly deeper than the breath before.
- 6:45Maybe you feel your chest rise or your diaphragm expand, maybe
- 6:51breathing deeper down into the belly.
- 6:55And as you exhale, I wonder if you can elongate the outward
- 7:01breath to make it a tiny bit longer than the breath before.
- 7:10So breath, bright breath, you're breathing in deeper and exhaling
- 7:16for longer. And what if each breath enabled
- 7:23you to feel deeper and deeper, relaxed, almost like you're
- 7:30calming your mind? That as your body feels more
- 7:34relaxed, your mind quietens and opens up to the possibility of
- 7:43wonderful positive changes. Keep on allowing your body to
- 8:01release tension in every outward breath and feel yourself
- 8:08becoming more and more relaxed, calm and at ease.
- 8:22I want you to imagine perhaps a place that you've always found
- 8:30comfortable in. A place where you can just relax
- 8:38with no worries. Maybe a place from the peasant
- 8:44or a place from the past. Maybe a cosy room place in a
- 8:52park or a garden, somewhere where you feel completely safe
- 8:59and at ease. And as you let this feeling of
- 9:10being safe and relaxed grow, also allow your thoughts to slow
- 9:17down as if they are drifting away on a gentle breeze.
- 9:25With each breath you relax further.
- 9:29And with every word I say, I wonder if you could feel more
- 9:34open and ready to embrace new possibilities.
- 9:47I want you to think of a future version of you, not far away in
- 9:57the future, maybe just six months, where all the changes
- 10:04you would like to happen have already happened.
- 10:14Just imagine that version of you six months from now, eating in
- 10:21restaurants, choosing anything you like from the menu, eating
- 10:25out with friends, not feeling that there has to be any caution
- 10:32or excuses. You can simply eat whatever you
- 10:38would like, whenever you like. I want you to see that future, a
- 10:47future where you can go out and have a burger with friends, or a
- 10:52slice of pizza, hot meals and so much variety.
- 11:00And I want you to imagine that there are many ways that that
- 11:07future becomes a reality. Perhaps on one day you try
- 11:16eating some foods that you never thought you could, and because
- 11:20you do, it creates a revolution in your mind, but nothing can
- 11:26quite go back to how it was before.
- 11:31Something significant happens, almost like the straw that
- 11:38breaks the camel's back, like a dam is burst and a future gushes
- 11:47through, giving you limitless potential.
- 11:53It doesn't have to be that way. It could also be day after day,
- 12:01week after week, tiny progress. Just one new food you weren't
- 12:10eating before become something you feel fine with, and that
- 12:14becomes a stepping stone. I want you to picture a table.
- 12:22And on that table is all the foods you already feel
- 12:27comfortable eating. Your favorite meals, snacks,
- 12:33flavours, some food that's cooked, lots that aren't.
- 12:39These are foods you know and enjoy, and they make you feel
- 12:44safe and at ease thinking about them or eating them.
- 12:51But let's imagine that each of these foods is a stepping stone
- 12:58that leads towards something new.
- 13:04If you feel comfortable with a slice of bread or toast, it's
- 13:09not that far away to eat the bun of a burger.
- 13:15If you enjoy eating chips, it's not that hard to imagine eating
- 13:21fries by the side of a burger. You start to see these things as
- 13:28different versions of something you already like, and maybe you
- 13:34think of a time when you've eaten something like beef jerky.
- 13:42Beef is beef, and maybe you could imagine that a burger
- 13:51isn't so different. And notice how these small
- 13:56changes feel more achievable when you think of them as being
- 14:03similar to things that you're already comfortable with, like a
- 14:10gentle evolution of what you already know.
- 14:17Each new food is just a tiny step from where you are now, and
- 14:23every attempt feels manageable and safe.
- 14:28And what if you started thinking about eating new foods?
- 14:36There's no big deal. See them as a fun experiment, a
- 14:43shot to nothing. If you try something new and
- 14:47like it, that's a success. And if you try and don't like
- 14:53it, or perhaps feel that you can't chew or swallow, it's no
- 14:59big deal. You simply try again another
- 15:03time. No pressure, only possibilities.
- 15:18Nobody was born having already tried food.
- 15:23Every food that you feel comfortable eating now there was
- 15:28a time that you had never tried it.
- 15:34So think of all the foods you've tried, even those that were just
- 15:39once. Then think of those that were
- 15:44once once but are now familiar regular foods.
- 15:50Each one is proof of your ability to explore, adapt and
- 15:56grow. Your previous behaviour becomes
- 16:01evidence that you can do something slightly different
- 16:06from what you've done before. The leap from going from a chip
- 16:16to a baked potato isn't that that hard, because they're still
- 16:22potatoes, and if you can have a normal whole potato, you could
- 16:31have a sweet potato and all the different varieties of that.
- 16:40Everything you've eaten before is a stepping stone.
- 16:47You try a new vegetable once that's raw, it's only a small
- 16:54step towards having the same food cooked.
- 17:00And there's many different ways to cook foods roasted, steamed,
- 17:06boiled, fried or blended in a soup.
- 17:11And if you try a new type of meat, maybe you can imagine
- 17:15exploring all the different ways it can be cooked or seasoned,
- 17:21eaten in a sandwich on a plate right next to chips.
- 17:28Or perhaps when you think of all the times you've drunk a
- 17:33smoothie, isn't a soup or a Stew just a smoothie of savoury foods
- 17:42that's hot. Allow your mind to see all the
- 17:47links to what is familiar, comfortable, not too different
- 17:54from what you're already doing, and before long you'll begin to
- 18:02realize something profound. It's no longer about whether you
- 18:08can eat certain foods instead, and very quickly it becomes
- 18:14about what you want to eat. Most people in the world have
- 18:24tried less than 1% of all the foods that exist.
- 18:30You don't need to feel comfortable eating all the
- 18:32foods, just feel comfortable evolving, taking that leap from
- 18:40that stepping stone to something slightly different to those
- 18:46things you're already eating. Your food world will expand so
- 18:55much that your choices are based on desire or perhaps other
- 19:03motives like fuel for sport food that just linked to social
- 19:11occasions but no longer linked to limitation.
- 19:20So think back to that version of you in the near future, but this
- 19:24time imagine yourself sitting at a table with friends or family
- 19:29really enjoying a meal. And maybe it is that burger with
- 19:35fries, or a slice of pizza, or perhaps a three course meal in a
- 19:43nice restaurant. See yourself feeling relaxed and
- 19:49at ease, choosing foods that you enjoy without hesitation.
- 19:58Imagine that as a bright future, a compelling future, a
- 20:03motivating future for you, a future where you have.
- 20:08So many choices that eating becomes simple and enjoyable and
- 20:16before long something you do effortlessly.
- 20:22You don't think about walking or breathing.
- 20:26There's so many things you do on autopilot and you see yourself
- 20:31in the future eating foods effortlessly, seeing yourself
- 20:36looking free, confident, but also excited about the variety
- 20:42in your meals. From this point forward, every
- 20:49time you try something new, you're taking another step
- 20:56towards this future. Every new food becomes a new
- 21:01stepping stone to other new foods, which in turn become new
- 21:06stepping stones, enabling you to have so much variety.
- 21:13Each small success builds your confidence and every attempt is
- 21:18an opportunity. And to get to that version of
- 21:24you, you were patient with yourself.
- 21:30Change can happen fast or slow, and sometimes just one small
- 21:36step at a time. As you imagine that future, feel
- 21:48that you are unlocking all of the resources to make that
- 21:52future possible. And as you hold that thought,
- 21:58it's time to return to the here and now with a sense of
- 22:01optimism, hope, and excitement for the future.
- 22:08It's a feel that you are leaving that place and returning to the
- 22:11here and now. As you take a deep breath in
- 22:13through your nose and out through your nose, just wiggle
- 22:19your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 22:20Connect fully into the here and now.
- 22:23As I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken you, you will
- 22:27awaken with a sense of clarity, the feeling that this game is
- 22:33winnable. Looking forward to taking those
- 22:38small evolutionary steps. Starting to count 123 Waking up
- 22:47456 More alert 7-8. Open your eyes.
- 22:53Open your eyes, 910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 22:59awake. Thank you for listening to The
