- 0:21Speaker 1: Hey, tolerators, this is to all the men I've tolerated
- 0:24Speaker 1: before with Nea Lee Katona, your weekly look at everyday misogyny. Okay,
- 0:29Speaker 1: Chris DeRosa is back. You need to know introduction. He's
- 0:32Speaker 1: not getting one today. He was just here for Wicked,
- 0:36Speaker 1: and then he begged and then pleaded and then bossed
- 0:41Speaker 1: me to watch and ends yeah, and then bullied this
- 0:47Speaker 1: yeah to watch it ends with us. So here we are.
- 0:50Speaker 1: I'm going to make him talk to me about workplace
- 0:52Speaker 1: harassment despite the fact that we have to also talk
- 0:55Speaker 1: about this movie because of the Blake Lively and Justin
- 0:59Speaker 1: Boloney drop. So, Chris, what do you have to say
- 1:02Speaker 1: for yourself?
- 1:04Speaker 2: I watch this again? Okay, First and foremost, please know that,
- 1:08Speaker 2: like the next time you.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Come here, we will be going on a pilgrimage to
- 1:11Speaker 3: all of the locations in this movie, because every single
- 1:14Speaker 3: one of them was shot other than like whatever Her
- 1:18Speaker 3: Wherever Her Like childhood home is every single one of
- 1:22Speaker 3: the places in this movie I recognized as a place
- 1:25Speaker 3: in my neighborhood.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So and we will be wearing up to five layers
- 1:31Speaker 1: of laurels.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, with like overalls, like or like Her. One of
- 1:36Speaker 2: my notes is like, I love her car heart jacket
- 1:39Speaker 2: and paint splattered pants and we're a hook and loser.
- 1:43Speaker 1: And we're crimping our hair.
- 1:48Speaker 2: You never thought that the hair crimp was going to
- 1:49Speaker 2: come back to you.
- 1:51Speaker 1: She had really hot curly hair at the Super Bowl,
- 1:54Speaker 1: but like, there's a time in a place for really
- 1:57Speaker 1: hot crimped hair, and I just don't feel like this
- 2:00Speaker 1: movie was it.
- 2:03Speaker 2: It's also just like there's so many things wrong. I
- 2:07Speaker 2: don't even know where do we begin?
- 2:09Speaker 1: Where do we begin? First off, this movie was to
- 2:13Speaker 1: launch her skin line, no.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Her hair line, her hair line, her hair hairline.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So why was all the hair in the movie bad?
- 2:20Speaker 2: I didn't think. I thought that her hair was actually good,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and I actually do like the curly hair thing. But
- 2:26Speaker 2: it's just like.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So I thought everyone looked to dehydrate it. I was like,
- 2:32Speaker 1: why did we all look so dry?
- 2:34Speaker 2: Hasan said the same thing as Son was like, why
- 2:36Speaker 2: does she look like she needs to like scrub her face?
- 2:39Speaker 1: They all did it?
- 2:40Speaker 2: And I wrote, the light Sepia filter over the whole
- 2:42Speaker 2: movie is incredible, But I think that's what it was like.
- 2:45Speaker 2: There was like a color correction happening.
- 2:48Speaker 1: The only one who looks wonderful. Is Jenny Slate?
- 2:51Speaker 2: Yes, and she's also the only person that acts well
- 2:54Speaker 2: in the movie, so like it's weird. Yeah, the cepia
- 2:59Speaker 2: tones that are happening throughout are just not great for me.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I'm not enjoying them. Like again, I know what that
- 3:06Speaker 2: street looks like. That's not what it looks like, do
- 3:08Speaker 2: you know what I mean? It's like I walk down
- 3:09Speaker 2: that street so like, like I've been in that restaurant before.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I know that it's not all like beige tones, you
- 3:16Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 3:17Speaker 1: And I need everyone to note how differently Chris and
- 3:19Speaker 1: I are talking about it. When we were talking about
- 3:21Speaker 1: the lighting and Wicked not being our favorite, we were like,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but that's us nitpicking because we're so in love with
- 3:27Speaker 1: everything else that's happening, and we're just like everyone looks
- 3:30Speaker 1: dehydrated and it actually ruined this movie.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yeah, but it also is like not a filter like
- 3:38Speaker 2: the lighting lick. It is not a filter. Do you
- 3:40Speaker 2: know what you put over something? And like I just yeah, no,
- 3:47Speaker 2: it was so bad. Okay, can let's continue.
- 3:49Speaker 1: Okay, here's my wild note. This movie, like the movie
- 3:55Speaker 1: itself and possibly the book that I won't rain.
- 3:59Speaker 2: It.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It has good bones, you know when you like it's
- 4:05Speaker 1: like when you're dating a loser but you see the
- 4:08Speaker 1: potential in the loser.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Or you're like, oh, like this person isn't like yeah, yeah,
- 4:13Speaker 2: I know what you mean. Yes.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Like first off, like I felt like Harry Styles because
- 4:17Speaker 1: I was like, well, It Ends with Us is a movie.
- 4:21Speaker 1: It did all the movie things, like there were lines,
- 4:25Speaker 1: they were delivered, there was set, there was scenes.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a beginning, a middle, and an end. Yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 2: like it technically is a movie.
- 4:34Speaker 1: It was aesthetically pleasing in some parts. I was like,
- 4:37Speaker 1: pretty flower walls, Okay, yeah.
- 4:41Speaker 2: The really nice apartments that they're in the whole time.
- 4:43Speaker 1: The whole time. In case anyone doesn't know, I didn't
- 4:46Speaker 1: write down a synopsis for It Ends with Us because
- 4:49Speaker 1: I just thought that everyone, like you and I were
- 4:51Speaker 1: perpetually online. But It Ends with Us is a movie
- 4:55Speaker 1: that came out at the end of twenty twenty four,
- 4:59Speaker 1: if not on the cut twenty five. And it's that
- 5:02Speaker 1: movie where Blake Lively was like, get your girls, put
- 5:05Speaker 1: on your florals. We're going out. It's movie night. And
- 5:09Speaker 1: the movie's about domestic violence. And then justin Boloney and
- 5:15Speaker 1: I will not be using his correct name because he
- 5:17Speaker 1: has not earned by respect. He's the guy that decided
- 5:22Speaker 1: that he cured toxic masculinity by cosplaying as Nick Lache
- 5:27Speaker 1: in his proposal video. Oh brother, brother not, that's what
- 5:33Speaker 1: he did. And so he's on the man Enough podcast
- 5:38Speaker 1: where he's like, are we man enough to feel? Are
- 5:42Speaker 1: we man enough to treat women right? And according to Blake, no.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, no truly though, and every other day is a
- 5:51Speaker 2: new discovery of like a two minute voice note that
- 5:54Speaker 2: came out today, like like just every day it's a
- 5:59Speaker 2: new article, which I'm not into.
- 6:01Speaker 1: But the movie is based on a Colleen Hoover book,
- 6:04Speaker 1: and she's a very like controversial figure in herself, Like
- 6:10Speaker 1: technically she is a pioneer of the self publishing book
- 6:15Speaker 1: talk world.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Sure it shows, by the way.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Yeah, however, if you ask, here's the thing, and I'm
- 6:23Speaker 1: gonna end up like insulting people who are like close
- 6:25Speaker 1: to me, because I'm like, if you ask people who
- 6:28Speaker 1: enjoy reading books that are above a third grade reading level,
- 6:34Speaker 1: then you're then they're like, these books are bad. But
- 6:37Speaker 1: it's a very easy book to tuck into a white
- 6:40Speaker 1: lady book club because it's about domestic violence and romance
- 6:45Speaker 1: and what do you in unplanned pregnancy and technically white
- 6:49Speaker 1: women like look at that book and go, there's themes.
- 6:53Speaker 2: About us. And I think the other thing is like
- 6:57Speaker 2: it's like it is giving the illusion of like this
- 7:03Speaker 2: movie is like saying things, you know what I mean,
- 7:06Speaker 2: like ooh, like look at this, like this bold comment
- 7:09Speaker 2: on domestic violence. But it's just like simply isn't doing that? No? Right?
- 7:15Speaker 1: My last th is the whole thing is an after
- 7:19Speaker 1: school special. It is an extended It is an extended
- 7:24Speaker 1: Degrassi movie. Like they should have put it on the end.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Hey yeah, yeah, as in Noggin, Yes.
- 7:33Speaker 1: As inn Listen when Nagat it was knagging when the
- 7:36Speaker 1: cartoons were on, and then at four pm it switched
- 7:38Speaker 1: over for the teens and that's when it became the end. Yeah, correct, correct,
- 7:44Speaker 1: But it is it. It moves like a Degrassi episode,
- 7:48Speaker 1: which might be why I didn't hate it, because I
- 7:52Speaker 1: was like, oh, I've watched this before. I am a millennial.
- 7:55Speaker 1: I've watched for Boy Meets World. I've tried to watch
- 7:58Speaker 1: teenagers talk about their parents being mean to one another.
- 8:04Speaker 1: But yeah, the whole thing, including her like bedside ted
- 8:08Speaker 1: talk to him. I was like, what an afterschool special?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Whenever She's like, what will you say when your daughter
- 8:15Speaker 2: says this to you right now? Do you mean yes?
- 8:18Speaker 1: Which we can? We can't go there.
- 8:19Speaker 2: First, No, we have so many more things to get
- 8:21Speaker 2: through before that, like so many.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Let me talk about how the movie has good bones,
- 8:27Speaker 1: because I do think that they attempted something that was
- 8:31Speaker 1: really smart, but they couldn't pull it off because no
- 8:34Speaker 1: one on the writers, the directors, no one was talented
- 8:38Speaker 1: on the set except for Jenny Slate.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Except for Jenny Slape.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I think they tried to gone girl us where it's
- 8:48Speaker 1: like flowers, my name is, my name is Lily Blossom Bloom.
- 8:53Speaker 2: I'm just to give literally kill me now.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just a girl. I have a weird relationship
- 9:01Speaker 1: with my mom, and I have nothing nice to say
- 9:03Speaker 1: about my dad, and I'm whisked away to the city
- 9:07Speaker 1: and I have a really sexy meet cue on the
- 9:09Speaker 1: roof of a stranger's building because I break into people's
- 9:14Speaker 1: apartments and it sets it up like this is going
- 9:19Speaker 1: to be an epic romance movie. And I was like, okay,
- 9:23Speaker 1: and then the tone's gonna flip like Gone Girl, because
- 9:27Speaker 1: I literally remember reading Gone Girl, flipping the page spoiler
- 9:31Speaker 1: for Gone Girl and Ben afflex why all of a sudden,
- 9:35Speaker 1: the point of view has shipped in and Ben Affleck's
- 9:37Speaker 1: dead wife is like, ha ha, I'm alive because I
- 9:40Speaker 1: hate Ben Affleck, and I'm like.
- 9:42Speaker 2: What, Yeah, but he didn't do it. No, that's not
- 9:48Speaker 2: what happened at all.
- 9:49Speaker 1: But I could tell that they were trying. I'm like,
- 9:52Speaker 1: they are really trying to build up this romance, so
- 9:56Speaker 1: then when he becomes a jerk, it hits harder. But
- 10:00Speaker 1: no one actually ever made me feel bad that he's
- 10:03Speaker 1: a jerk. You know what I'm saying. I should be
- 10:06Speaker 1: the most enraged that a man is abusing a woman
- 10:08Speaker 1: on screen, and yet everyone was like two above and
- 10:12Speaker 1: too evolved to actually have feelings about it.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Yeah. Like even when Jenny Slay like hears that like
- 10:20Speaker 2: her brother is an abuser, She's like, as his sister,
- 10:24Speaker 2: I should tell you to like take him back, but
- 10:27Speaker 2: as your friend, I can never let you do that.
- 10:29Speaker 2: And I was like, give me seventeen breaks, please and
- 10:33Speaker 2: thank you. Like it was just so serious the whole
- 10:37Speaker 2: I said, every scene turns into the most serious scene.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Why does the scene when Jenny Slay turn into a
- 10:43Speaker 2: Jenny Slay's baby turn into a proposal? I want to
- 10:46Speaker 2: die was one of the answers, And then I said,
- 10:48Speaker 2: every scene that has to do with domestic violence turns
- 10:51Speaker 2: into justin Baldoni's star turned scene, Like, every scene turns
- 10:54Speaker 2: into like again, every scene where what is his name
- 11:00Speaker 2: list is in? It is so hot.
- 11:02Speaker 1: He's so hot he can be on the podcast.
- 11:04Speaker 2: Every scene with him is like when at one point
- 11:08Speaker 2: he just goes, this is the second time they've seen
- 11:10Speaker 2: each other since they were children, and they're in a
- 11:11Speaker 2: bathroom that you and I will be in.
- 11:13Speaker 1: One day re enacting this scene.
- 11:15Speaker 2: They're like, how many people do you think go into
- 11:17Speaker 2: that restaurant every fucking day? And it's like truly, They're like, get.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Out now, I'm writing in a heart of my Collarbode.
- 11:22Speaker 2: When we go, no, he goes. She's like, it wasn't
- 11:26Speaker 2: a thing, It wasn't you know, it was an accident,
- 11:28Speaker 2: blah blah. He goes, leave him, Leave him now. I
- 11:31Speaker 2: was like, go away, what is happening right?
- 11:35Speaker 1: Because then I ended up. I was like, don't tell
- 11:38Speaker 1: her what to do.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I I'm like don't like be concerned for her only
- 11:42Speaker 2: until like she's not there anymore, and then you're not
- 11:45Speaker 2: concerned anymore.
- 11:47Speaker 1: You're not texting, you're not checking in. Here's another thing
- 11:52Speaker 1: about Lily Blossom Blue. We will use her folding the
- 11:56Speaker 1: entire time. Of course, her abusive father is Owen Hunt
- 12:00Speaker 1: from Grey's Anatomy, and Owen Hunt loves nothing more than
- 12:03Speaker 1: to make a woman's life miserable, So as far as
- 12:08Speaker 1: I know, this movie is also Gray's Anatomy. Cannon, I
- 12:13Speaker 1: kept being like.
- 12:14Speaker 2: What why is this movie two hours and ten minutes long?
- 12:17Speaker 2: You know what I mean? And then I keep thinking
- 12:20Speaker 2: of all the scenes, and it's like they have no
- 12:22Speaker 2: room because I keep being like, why are all these
- 12:25Speaker 2: scenes so straight to the point of like seriousness? But
- 12:29Speaker 2: that's like, it's weird that I feel like I'm spending
- 12:32Speaker 2: no time within a scene and yet like it's two hours.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It's two hours and ten minutes long, do you know
- 12:38Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 12:38Speaker 1: The book has to span fifteen years because the time
- 12:43Speaker 1: moves so weird. In this movie, we will be talking
- 12:47Speaker 1: to Jenny Slate and then the next time we see her,
- 12:49Speaker 1: she's six months pregnant, and then the next time we
- 12:54Speaker 1: see her, there's a baby, yeah, And I'm like, how
- 12:57Speaker 1: long have they been? We never saw their marriage. We
- 13:00Speaker 1: only saw it in a flashback their wedding, So I
- 13:03Speaker 1: was like, so they got married, but like when? And
- 13:07Speaker 1: I was like I need a time? How quickly are
- 13:11Speaker 1: we moving through time?
- 13:13Speaker 2: And like how are we moving so quickly? And yet
- 13:14Speaker 2: we see nothing?
- 13:15Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 13:16Speaker 2: It's like, how are we like spanning this much time
- 13:18Speaker 2: and yet nothing is seen? Like do you know what
- 13:20Speaker 2: I mean? Like every scene, it's like there's no lead
- 13:23Speaker 2: up to them doing the most dramatic part of the
- 13:25Speaker 2: thing that they need to do, do you know?
- 13:26Speaker 1: Huh yes, now, so that aesthetic of like it's like
- 13:30Speaker 1: that they were trying to prove like in another life,
- 13:33Speaker 1: on an alternate plane of existence. This is a romance
- 13:37Speaker 1: that they write books about, right.
- 13:40Speaker 2: Like that's the part. The tone of it is so.
- 13:43Speaker 1: Wrong and you should be here in your florals with
- 13:47Speaker 1: your girlfriends and that's why I gave you a dress code. Yeah,
- 13:51Speaker 1: but and it does like speak to the gaslighting that
- 13:54Speaker 1: comes with domestic abuse and part and intimate partner abuse.
- 13:59Speaker 1: And for a moment I fell into it because I
- 14:01Speaker 1: kept texting you and Julia, I was like, technically, everything
- 14:05Speaker 1: that is happening is an accident, Like he burns his
- 14:09Speaker 1: hand and when she goes towards him because his hands burnt,
- 14:13Speaker 1: he throws it up and it hits her. I'm like accident.
- 14:16Speaker 1: She stumbles down the stairs. I was like, accident, And
- 14:19Speaker 1: then you guys would wait, yeah, yes, and I will
- 14:23Speaker 1: say that the use of me and the audience thought
- 14:29Speaker 1: it happened this way. And then when I could finally
- 14:32Speaker 1: decide I need to leave you because you're abusive, then
- 14:37Speaker 1: the memories came back to me in the way that
- 14:39Speaker 1: they really were, and it was he actually hit her
- 14:42Speaker 1: because he was pissed about burning the pertata, and then
- 14:45Speaker 1: he like threw her down the stairs because they were
- 14:47Speaker 1: in another argument, and he triggered. The whole movie is
- 14:51Speaker 1: a trigger warning. He marital raped her, basically is what happened.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Like assaults her?
- 14:58Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, he assaults her, and like yeah.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Right, whish ps. Why was that scene the scene that
- 15:07Speaker 2: I thought was acted the best?
- 15:08Speaker 1: Oh no, oh.
- 15:09Speaker 2: No, say that. But I thought that scene was actually
- 15:12Speaker 2: the best.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Sceno because Justin had practiced it every day on set
- 15:16Speaker 1: by abusing Blake Lively.
- 15:20Speaker 2: No, it's so horrible for me to say, but I
- 15:22Speaker 2: must speak on two that I thought that was the
- 15:23Speaker 2: best scene in the whole movie.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Well yeah, because Okay, I also wrote a note to myself.
- 15:28Speaker 1: I was like, Okay, when Blake Lively was younger and
- 15:34Speaker 1: I was a teenager, was she a better actress or
- 15:38Speaker 1: was I stupid?
- 15:41Speaker 2: And what did you think? How did you what? Like
- 15:44Speaker 2: what conclusion did you come to?
- 15:46Speaker 1: We all love Gossip Girl, right, and she had us
- 15:50Speaker 1: in a hold on Gossip Girl, like she was very
- 15:53Speaker 1: good at being Serena whatever Serena's last name is in
- 15:58Speaker 1: Gossip Girl. And then she was good in the Sisterhood
- 16:02Speaker 1: of the Traveling Hants, like there was depth to that
- 16:06Speaker 1: role because in Sisterhood of the Traveling Hants she's also
- 16:09Speaker 1: assaulted by a soccer coach, like a summer coach camp
- 16:14Speaker 1: uh type deal, And and it was good. The Sisterhood
- 16:20Speaker 1: of the Traveling Hants movies are good. It's a solid
- 16:23Speaker 1: cast and they've all remained friends. And so I was like,
- 16:28Speaker 1: I happened to Blake likely because like the Age of
- 16:30Speaker 1: Adeline not good. I don't think I've seen a green lantern.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Not good. Yeah, the Age of Adeline where it's like
- 16:40Speaker 1: Tuck Everlasting, but she's a lady yeah yea, yeah yeah
- 16:44Speaker 1: ever lasting and Harrison Ford's the love interest and his
- 16:48Speaker 1: son brother yeah yeah uh yeah. Also not a great story.
- 16:56Speaker 2: For it was like she's like fine in the movie,
- 16:58Speaker 2: I'm not as I am no where near. She is
- 17:01Speaker 2: the least of my worries acting wise other than Jenny Slade,
- 17:03Speaker 2: as we've already said when it comes to like her
- 17:06Speaker 2: lines are less cringe to me.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I got missed off because I was like, why are
- 17:13Speaker 1: you acting like you're too evolved to actually walk us
- 17:16Speaker 1: through how upset you are about this? Like we never
- 17:21Speaker 1: had a cathartic screaming or crying or flashback. And I'm
- 17:27Speaker 1: not saying that everyone has to deal with like abuse
- 17:29Speaker 1: or trauma in the same way, but it can't be
- 17:31Speaker 1: you left him, then he gets to build a crib
- 17:35Speaker 1: for you because you and your mom just can't figure
- 17:37Speaker 1: it out.
- 17:38Speaker 2: Yeah No, that's like the ultimate like throw me off
- 17:41Speaker 2: of a bridge, please, Yeah, Like if only a man
- 17:44Speaker 2: was here to do this, Like that's truly what that is,
- 17:46Speaker 2: and that is like the funny funniest part is that
- 17:50Speaker 2: that is text book like misogyny. Do you know what
- 17:55Speaker 2: I mean? That is like only a man can use
- 17:57Speaker 2: a tool that is like one oh one of like
- 18:00Speaker 2: being a feminist, which he says that he is, is
- 18:03Speaker 2: like to not have that. But then I also go
- 18:05Speaker 2: back and forth of like how much was that like
- 18:08Speaker 2: in the book that this fucking idiot wrote.
- 18:10Speaker 1: You know, because well, because I kept telling Julia, I go,
- 18:15Speaker 1: I guess I have to blame Boloney for how like.
- 18:21Speaker 2: True to the book, like yeah, or like how.
- 18:24Speaker 1: He comes off as like the good guy abuser, like
- 18:27Speaker 1: he's a good abuser, like he he abuses you, but
- 18:30Speaker 1: he's also like a good one because he listens about
- 18:34Speaker 1: it or which.
- 18:36Speaker 2: But also like which I think is like part of
- 18:38Speaker 2: the thing I think. I like to me, that's like
- 18:40Speaker 2: makes nuance and I think is actually interesting versus is wrong.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I don't know, like it makes me. It makes you
- 18:47Speaker 2: think that he's like, oh no, I don't think, like,
- 18:49Speaker 2: yes'm I'm an abuser. He thinks that, like I got
- 18:51Speaker 2: mad and this happened. And then he's like once she
- 18:55Speaker 2: gives him that again the Ted talk when they're in
- 18:57Speaker 2: like the labor bed together, he's like, you're right, I
- 19:00Speaker 2: am a monster you know.
- 19:02Speaker 1: But how much time did we waste on the crib
- 19:05Speaker 1: and the nursery of it all, and just like shots
- 19:08Speaker 1: of her walking around places when we could have had
- 19:10Speaker 1: like a conversation about why she was Yeah, a real scene.
- 19:14Speaker 2: But then that's my that's my thing is like so
- 19:19Speaker 2: much there is so much real estate here, and yet
- 19:22Speaker 2: like everythne has to be boiled down to like introline, introline,
- 19:26Speaker 2: intro line, then like exactly what I need to say
- 19:29Speaker 2: here in this scene and then we're gone, Yeah, you
- 19:31Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 19:32Speaker 1: And yet and why are we gone? Because if he
- 19:35Speaker 1: had had a sit down, if she had had to
- 19:38Speaker 1: sit down with Jenny Slate, I'd be like, I'm laming
- 19:41Speaker 1: your brother. He literally threw me down the stairs. And
- 19:44Speaker 1: Jenny slatep's like, oh my god, please never speak to
- 19:47Speaker 1: my brother again. I wouldn't be able to be your
- 19:49Speaker 1: friend or respect you, which is kind of what she says.
- 19:53Speaker 1: What she says, Yeah, And then we cut to Jenny's
- 19:57Speaker 1: Slake calling her brother and me like you're coming to
- 20:00Speaker 1: my house now, and it's like she confronts him on
- 20:04Speaker 1: it coming.
- 20:05Speaker 2: To a house aka walking across the hallway and right.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Yes, we're you're coming over for dinner tonight, and it's
- 20:12Speaker 1: him and maybe even her like ignorant husband who's just
- 20:16Speaker 1: like a good time guy.
- 20:17Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't with them with the onesies and the
- 20:20Speaker 2: hoodies and the like. While she's giving birth to his child,
- 20:23Speaker 2: he has like a like ugly like wanna be babe
- 20:26Speaker 2: hoodie on it, and I'm like, what the fuck is
- 20:28Speaker 2: happening here? Like every remind me to come back to
- 20:32Speaker 2: the wardrobe anyway.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yes, So, and we have like a dinner scene where
- 20:36Speaker 1: he's trying to riddle it out right, like yeah, I
- 20:39Speaker 1: was just like really frustrated, and my job's a lot
- 20:42Speaker 1: because I'm a nerve of surgeon and like Big Little
- 20:47Speaker 1: Lies did the nuance better with the scars guard of
- 20:52Speaker 1: it all, Yes, with Nicole Kinman playing into it, talking
- 20:56Speaker 1: to her therapist about like, well he can't be bad
- 20:58Speaker 1: because I'd be too, And we're talking about like being
- 21:02Speaker 1: baited into our emotions or coping mechanisms or dual memories
- 21:07Speaker 1: or things. Big Little Eyes took I think what Colleen
- 21:11Speaker 1: Hoover was trying to do and actually did it in
- 21:14Speaker 1: a way where I'm like everyone's respected, everyone gets to
- 21:19Speaker 1: go home.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, I agree.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Feeling scene and maybe it's because of Nicole Kidman, I
- 21:25Speaker 1: don't know.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I mean it is it is, I mean our living
- 21:29Speaker 2: movie star that we have left.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Hello Nick.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Yeah, Like and again it's like that would be a
- 21:34Speaker 2: cool scene to see, like Jenny say, and then what
- 21:36Speaker 2: is the part with like her brother, like the brother
- 21:39Speaker 2: that died and that's like the crux of how he
- 21:41Speaker 2: became an angry person.
- 21:42Speaker 1: But it's like what but no one's talked to him
- 21:45Speaker 1: about it ever.
- 21:46Speaker 2: And like that doesn't mean any It was like clearly
- 21:48Speaker 2: an accident, so then he becomes an abuser because he
- 21:51Speaker 2: killed his brother accidentally.
- 21:52Speaker 1: But like I needed something, like I just needed something
- 21:57Speaker 1: to like give meat to it. There was no wait
- 22:00Speaker 1: to anything. Everything felt so like I kept telling myself like, well, yeah,
- 22:06Speaker 1: it's technically a movie.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yes it is, like and it's like a it's like
- 22:11Speaker 2: and now this scripted line that I need to deliver
- 22:14Speaker 2: to have the plot go forward will go now? Yes, yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 2: you know what I mean? And I wrote, I wrote.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Who adapted the script? Was it Colleen?
- 22:25Speaker 2: Some charlatan? Who knows? And I'm like not getting into
- 22:30Speaker 2: all my theories about like the on set behavior yet
- 22:33Speaker 2: because I just like we're saving it, like we just can't.
- 22:36Speaker 2: But like again, this is like remember that this is
- 22:39Speaker 2: the like version where Blake Lively like has salvaged the script.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean? Like this is a
- 22:45Speaker 2: good version of the movie. Do you know what I mean?
- 22:47Speaker 1: Like, because everyone should give Chris five dollars so they
- 22:50Speaker 1: can listen for the rest of the year of him
- 22:53Speaker 1: and Dominic covering the Blake Lively justin Blooney Trial. They're
- 22:57Speaker 1: going full cereal. They will be covering in Multipex part
- 23:01Speaker 1: on Cereal. Yeah, because when Chris said, I think Blake
- 23:06Speaker 1: Lively is a professional and she knows exactly what to do.
- 23:09Speaker 1: She walked onto the set and she went justin Zamoran
- 23:13Speaker 1: and the script is bad. And I called that in
- 23:16Speaker 1: our group text from day one. I was like, he's
- 23:21Speaker 1: big mad and big poudy because he had to be
- 23:25Speaker 1: confronted with a woman who was better than him, and
- 23:29Speaker 1: he is mister loves women, respects women, wants women to
- 23:34Speaker 1: succeed right up until it's threatening to him. Hence the
- 23:39Speaker 1: fake allyship.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I agree with you, I wrote that. I said him
- 23:48Speaker 2: telling her to shut up is the first red flag
- 23:50Speaker 2: of his anger when he's like to shut up and
- 23:53Speaker 2: she's like trying to tell him something and they're on.
- 23:55Speaker 1: That rooftop or whatever, and he's like shut up.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Well, and he's was she the entire time, I want
- 24:01Speaker 1: to have sex with you and she's like no, and
- 24:03Speaker 1: then he's like, then I get to touch you a
- 24:04Speaker 1: certain way and she's also like no, and he's like
- 24:08Speaker 1: I get one kiss. No, that's frat boy behavior.
- 24:11Speaker 2: It's funny. Yeah, yeah, yeah, well no, He's like I
- 24:13Speaker 2: want to bang you so bad and she's like, no,
- 24:15Speaker 2: you may not, and then like takes her clothes off
- 24:17Speaker 2: and has like the hottest lingree that you've ever seen
- 24:19Speaker 2: in your life, and she's like and now we will
- 24:21Speaker 2: sleep together, do you know what I mean? And now
- 24:23Speaker 2: we will sleep side by side, not touching each other
- 24:25Speaker 2: in this band. And I'm like, oh my god.
- 24:28Speaker 1: Well because I almost was into that too, because I
- 24:31Speaker 1: was like, oh, they're both toxic because I love with
- 24:34Speaker 1: like two toxic tick people.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Sure, and like let it go, yeah, like let let
- 24:37Speaker 2: him let him out each other.
- 24:38Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, because I think that's what happened on set,
- 24:41Speaker 1: because Okay, I have listened to this equation because maybe
- 24:44Speaker 1: we do just move on from the script was bad.
- 24:47Speaker 2: No, No, I have so many more notes of why
- 24:49Speaker 2: the script is bad though, that I need to run
- 24:51Speaker 2: through because I don't go for it. Okay, so I
- 24:54Speaker 2: said this them. The quote them not having sex scene
- 24:58Speaker 2: is super hot, but also makes no sense. Like when
- 25:01Speaker 2: he takes his shirt off and you see his body
- 25:03Speaker 2: like and he has that button on shirt, it's like
- 25:04Speaker 2: out of control, like absolutely out of control. This is
- 25:08Speaker 2: also when I noticed that they were all dehydrated. But
- 25:10Speaker 2: also and then again, she's like, I'm not gonna have
- 25:14Speaker 2: sex with you, but like, let me slip off this,
- 25:17Speaker 2: let me slip off this like law, this like dress,
- 25:19Speaker 2: and I'm gonna have this like matching hot like I
- 25:23Speaker 2: am asking to be fucked yesterday lingerie outfit that I
- 25:28Speaker 2: will now reveal to you and I will have you
- 25:30Speaker 2: take off my like sequined my like sequined boots. Do
- 25:34Speaker 2: you know what I mean? That like are like not real,
- 25:36Speaker 2: like basically every foot fetishes wet dream that I'm like
- 25:39Speaker 2: worn in.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Honestly, I have this conspiracy theory because Blake brought all
- 25:44Speaker 1: of her own wardrobe in every day. I think those
- 25:47Speaker 1: are tailor's swift's boots like that, I feel like I.
- 25:49Speaker 2: Think that they are. I think that they are. I
- 25:52Speaker 2: think that they are. And then they like get naked,
- 25:55Speaker 2: get quote unquote naked, and then like fall asleep together,
- 25:58Speaker 2: and I'm like, what is this scene? Like what is
- 26:01Speaker 2: the point of this?
- 26:02Speaker 1: And then their boyfriend girlfriend.
- 26:04Speaker 2: It just it doesn't make any again, it doesn't make
- 26:06Speaker 2: any sense to me other than to like show us
- 26:08Speaker 2: their bodies, which I'm fine looking at because she looks
- 26:12Speaker 2: so good at it, like body be banging on her too,
- 26:16Speaker 2: Like when she takes her little dress off, I was like, whoa, yeah.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Like she's yeah, Lively's job is to be gorgeous, like
- 26:24Speaker 1: its a real shitty way, like that's what she's made
- 26:27Speaker 1: her be.
- 26:28Speaker 2: And does it well, does it very well? Like which
- 26:32Speaker 2: I'm fine again, I'm fine with us like parading their
- 26:34Speaker 2: bodies around to then like have them be like in
- 26:36Speaker 2: a scene together sexually. But it like is like where
- 26:39Speaker 2: she's like and you will respect me and not it's
- 26:42Speaker 2: solusory to me.
- 26:43Speaker 1: I don't know. It's so after school special.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yes, And then whenever Jenny say pops in and she's like,
- 26:49Speaker 2: oh no, you've had sex with my brother, Like what's
- 26:52Speaker 2: gonna happen. And then and then which ps at least
- 26:55Speaker 2: she acts it well. When he goes, this is different,
- 26:59Speaker 2: I was like, this is Twilight coded, like whenever they're
- 27:02Speaker 2: like Bella, I want to destroy you, but I will
- 27:06Speaker 2: respect you.
- 27:07Speaker 1: The fuck up? Is every book talk book just.
- 27:13Speaker 2: In disguise The answers yes, the answer is yes, and
- 27:17Speaker 2: tell me I'm wrong, though, he goes, this is different.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Oh, it's so bad, right, it's so bad.
- 27:25Speaker 2: And then my next note is this slow mo montage
- 27:28Speaker 2: of them quote unquote trying to date turns into like
- 27:31Speaker 2: a hot and heavy fucking on a balcony during the day,
- 27:34Speaker 2: and it's very odd.
- 27:35Speaker 1: It's very hot.
- 27:35Speaker 2: There's a thing where they're like holding hands in again,
- 27:37Speaker 2: this is that footage where they're like where he's like, look,
- 27:39Speaker 2: I wasn't sexually harassing her during this scene, you know
- 27:43Speaker 2: what I mean. And it's like them like trying to
- 27:44Speaker 2: it's like them like holding hands and like doing a
- 27:46Speaker 2: slow mo shot of them like informal wear on a
- 27:49Speaker 2: roof there and now I will mount you on this
- 27:53Speaker 2: roof like it is so weird, which brings me over
- 27:57Speaker 2: to her side a little bit because I'm like, why
- 27:59Speaker 2: are you like simulating sex in this weird scene that's
- 28:03Speaker 2: supposed to be like you two like enjoying your like
- 28:08Speaker 2: love no love, yes, Like why can't you be at
- 28:10Speaker 2: the farmer's market like holding hands and while he's like
- 28:12Speaker 2: holding like a paper bag full of like long stemmed carrots,
- 28:15Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Like that is it? That
- 28:18Speaker 2: makes sense to me? Whereas again the scene we didn't
- 28:22Speaker 2: need to see where they're were ps. They're at a
- 28:24Speaker 2: party that's like fully raging, where he's like, it's time
- 28:27Speaker 2: for me to get ready for bed, and she's like
- 28:29Speaker 2: me too, and then they take they like sexually do
- 28:32Speaker 2: a like clothing removal for each other and then not fuck,
- 28:36Speaker 2: Like that didn't need to exist in this movie for
- 28:39Speaker 2: then us to like in this montage see them finally
- 28:42Speaker 2: have sex kind of do you know what I mean?
- 28:45Speaker 2: Like it doesn't make any sense?
- 28:46Speaker 1: Like well, because here's the thing too, The whole premise is,
- 28:53Speaker 1: you know how like my whole theme of my life
- 28:57Speaker 1: is feminine rage. But make it funny. Sure, sure they're
- 29:01Speaker 1: Colleen Hoover's goal was domestic violence, but make it kind
- 29:05Speaker 1: of sexy. And that's why you got tricked, Like not
- 29:10Speaker 1: that survivors get tricked. But I feel like that's Colleen's
- 29:13Speaker 1: bite set.
- 29:14Speaker 2: Yeah, Like the whole point of like the scene is
- 29:16Speaker 2: that he like could have r worded her in this
- 29:18Speaker 2: scene when she's well, he's gonna where she's in every way.
- 29:22Speaker 2: What men would say is quote unquote asking for it,
- 29:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Because she's wearing like a
- 29:25Speaker 2: seether like nipple cover bikini tops as lingerie and is like,
- 29:31Speaker 2: now we'll sleep together, but not touch, you know, and
- 29:34Speaker 2: so but instead it's like he's respectful this time and
- 29:38Speaker 2: doesn't r word her.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Well, and here's what fucked because he's playing the like
- 29:42Speaker 1: redeemable abuser the entire time, which my friend did say
- 29:45Speaker 1: is how it plays out in the book, like they're
- 29:48Speaker 1: trying to very heavy handedly. I feel like, but don't
- 29:52Speaker 1: just like leave him out in the cold about it.
- 29:55Speaker 1: He's still but he still is.
- 29:56Speaker 2: The father of your child, and so like yeah, right, yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 1: But it's like throughout the whole book he's still a
- 30:02Speaker 1: good boyfriend. He's still like it's like there your mom
- 30:06Speaker 1: and your aunt and you finally said I'm leaving Ryland
- 30:10Speaker 1: or whatever the fucking.
- 30:13Speaker 2: Names. Give me a break.
- 30:15Speaker 1: I'm leaving Ryle, and then your mom and your aunt
- 30:18Speaker 1: who were never allowed to divorce their husbands because of Catholicism.
- 30:22Speaker 2: Yeah, are like why Yeah, they.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Take your hand and they go why would you do that?
- 30:26Speaker 1: And you like, he pushed me down a light up stairs?
- 30:29Speaker 1: He pushed you down of light of stairs. And then
- 30:31Speaker 1: they follow you up with did he say he was sorry?
- 30:33Speaker 1: And maybe buy you like a car or something afterwards,
- 30:36Speaker 1: And then you have to be like, he did say
- 30:39Speaker 1: he was sorry. We did get my favorite take out
- 30:42Speaker 1: the next day, and then they go marriage saved, like
- 30:45Speaker 1: that's the whole.
- 30:48Speaker 2: Yeah, no, of course it is. And again it's like
- 30:50Speaker 2: we're spending the real estate of like, oh, here's this
- 30:54Speaker 2: like will they won't they like? And then he respects
- 30:56Speaker 2: her and then they have sex like when they say
- 30:58Speaker 2: they love each other, which is so like gross to
- 31:01Speaker 2: me and so Christianity, you know what I mean, and
- 31:03Speaker 2: like blue give me a break. But then it's so
- 31:06Speaker 2: it's like we wasteaw that real estate there to not
- 31:08Speaker 2: then have these like cathartic moments that were like that
- 31:11Speaker 2: we're working to the entire movie because like the parts
- 31:15Speaker 2: of her when she's younger with the guy, like those
- 31:18Speaker 2: I like liked those scenes, like they weren't as bad
- 31:22Speaker 2: and they weren't as like they weren't as like oh brother,
- 31:25Speaker 2: Like it was very like you see them like hanging
- 31:28Speaker 2: out and like watching like The Ellen Show after after
- 31:31Speaker 2: school and they like she like like you can shower
- 31:34Speaker 2: at my house and he's like okay, and they like
- 31:36Speaker 2: you're like building character there, which like they don't do
- 31:39Speaker 2: any of it, like whenever it's Blake and Justin, it's
- 31:41Speaker 2: all just like just and this is my The other
- 31:44Speaker 2: theory is that it's justin trying to like he really
- 31:46Speaker 2: thinks he's like getting nominated for awards and Best Director
- 31:49Speaker 2: from doing this.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Like well, and let's talk about how fucked it is
- 31:52Speaker 1: that he's the one who like read the book called
- 31:55Speaker 1: Colleen and was like, I deserve the rights of this movie.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Like number one, it's fucked that you wanted to play Ryle.
- 32:03Speaker 1: It's fucked that you wanted to be my Catholic aunt
- 32:08Speaker 1: telling me behind the scenes, Ryle's a good guy. No
- 32:10Speaker 1: one should ever think about divorcing him. Yeah, it's fucked
- 32:15Speaker 1: that you thought that you were the authority figure on
- 32:20Speaker 1: a woman centered story about domestic abuse, Like get fucked
- 32:26Speaker 1: like I cannot. I if I had his address, I get,
- 32:31Speaker 1: I would write him a card that said, get fucked,
- 32:34Speaker 1: Just get fucked. And the fact that like Colleen Hoover,
- 32:38Speaker 1: who is clearly a woman who is still living with patriarchy,
- 32:41Speaker 1: went this will be perfect. And then the two of
- 32:44Speaker 1: them together gave me the redeemable movie of the year
- 32:48Speaker 1: for all abusers, like just like coaching abusers on how
- 32:53Speaker 1: to be like, but I'm nice, but I didn't do
- 32:56Speaker 1: this well, and she.
- 32:58Speaker 2: Like doesn't have the like, what is the climax of
- 33:01Speaker 2: this film? None, there isn't one, Like what is the climax?
- 33:04Speaker 1: I guess it's supposed to be When she gives them
- 33:06Speaker 1: a ted talk on the hospital bed after she.
- 33:08Speaker 2: While he's holding their child. While he is holding their child.
- 33:11Speaker 1: By the way he is holding their child, she has
- 33:13Speaker 1: just named that child after the dead brother, and he went,
- 33:16Speaker 1: what a perfect gift for me? And I went, why
- 33:18Speaker 1: does he get that? Why does he get that? Also,
- 33:22Speaker 1: the movie ends with them taking that baby to Owen
- 33:25Speaker 1: Hunt's Gray Owen hunts Evil Gray, with the vibes the
- 33:30Speaker 1: mom going I never left your dad because I couldn't.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Even though we fully watch Owen Hunt strangle her on
- 33:38Speaker 1: a couch and she's like it just never got bad
- 33:41Speaker 1: enough for me to feel like I needed to. And
- 33:43Speaker 1: then Blake levelily was like, of course, I'll introduce his
- 33:46Speaker 1: spirit to my baby. I was like, no generational curses.
- 33:51Speaker 2: And it doesn't make any sense. And again it's like
- 33:53Speaker 2: she's at peace with her father.
- 33:54Speaker 1: It's like, no, no, no, I knew, like didn't earn.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Any again, like in this movie, you did not earn
- 33:59Speaker 2: her hat that that would be a good movie of
- 34:00Speaker 2: her being like having to struggle with like her father's
- 34:03Speaker 2: sins after he died. That's an interesting movie. Yes, we
- 34:06Speaker 2: did not. That was not the movie that I watched.
- 34:08Speaker 1: No ever ever, or even struggling with, because I've watched
- 34:14Speaker 1: women do this when men have been bad to them,
- 34:17Speaker 1: but they're still caught up on the good part of it,
- 34:21Speaker 1: or they've moved past the man because he's been so awful,
- 34:26Speaker 1: but then something catastrophic happens to that man and they're like, well,
- 34:29Speaker 1: now I can only dwell on the good parts because
- 34:31Speaker 1: your brain hopes we have to survive well.
- 34:35Speaker 2: And I think the part of it too is that
- 34:37Speaker 2: like it's like we see that we see that her
- 34:38Speaker 2: mom is like she had this in her family before,
- 34:41Speaker 2: and so she's much more apt to like be okay
- 34:44Speaker 2: with it because of that, and like do what Like
- 34:47Speaker 2: there's so many times she's like, I didn't turn into
- 34:49Speaker 2: my mother and he's like, yes, you did, remember, like
- 34:51Speaker 2: what's his name? Does? And I'm like this, give me
- 34:54Speaker 2: a break with both of you, you know what I mean.
- 34:55Speaker 2: It's like that's so much of it. But again we
- 34:59Speaker 2: don't like we don't like explore that at all. No,
- 35:02Speaker 2: it's like in passing that she like comes to these realizations.
- 35:05Speaker 2: It's very similar to like and just like that season
- 35:08Speaker 2: two where many of the climate all of Charlotte's storylines
- 35:12Speaker 2: are like Charlotte realizing that she's being an idiot and
- 35:15Speaker 2: then like that's the end of the storyline that we've
- 35:17Speaker 2: like spent twenty five minutes of this forty seven minute
- 35:20Speaker 2: episode like building up Charlotte.
- 35:22Speaker 1: We're just at a dinner party and all of a sudden,
- 35:24Speaker 1: Charlotte announces and now I understand gender fluidity, and we're like, okay, Charlotte.
- 35:29Speaker 2: Yeah, And she's like or whenever she goes to like
- 35:32Speaker 2: she's so nervous to like be she needs to be
- 35:34Speaker 2: skinny whenever she goes to like the art gallery whenever. Member,
- 35:37Speaker 2: So she wears like triple spanks to the art gallery
- 35:40Speaker 2: and then the art gallery owner is fat, and then
- 35:42Speaker 2: she's like, oh my god, I'm an idiot, Like I'm
- 35:47Speaker 2: definitely skinnier than you. So that's great. That's the climax
- 35:50Speaker 2: of this episode. Am I wrong at all?
- 35:54Speaker 1: No, that's it. That's it. Oh. In my screenwriting workshops,
- 35:58Speaker 1: someone challenged to find the theme of Emily and pre
- 36:02Speaker 1: and I turned my mic on and I was like,
- 36:04Speaker 1: the only theme of Emily and Purri is.
- 36:07Speaker 2: To wear stopping first one.
- 36:10Speaker 1: That's the title. And I like, ribing it's.
- 36:12Speaker 2: Not, it's not you like getting me mad is what
- 36:14Speaker 2: you like to get continue?
- 36:17Speaker 1: And so I was like, the theme of Emily in
- 36:20Speaker 1: Paris is to wear stupid hats. It's the only point
- 36:23Speaker 1: in the entire store. No, rightfully so, and they laughed,
- 36:28Speaker 1: and I went no. Darren Starr himself said.
- 36:32Speaker 2: Yet, like the creator. Maybe you've heard of him.
- 36:35Speaker 1: He said, stop trying to find meaning in my stupid parish.
- 36:40Speaker 2: I'm here to do a parade of hot ass men
- 36:44Speaker 2: in front of you. That and these women like are
- 36:47Speaker 2: getting it, like Eiffel towered no pun intended, I mean
- 36:51Speaker 2: every episode, and that's the point. And I'm like, I'm
- 36:54Speaker 2: aligning up for.
- 36:55Speaker 1: That, because do you know what else? I think it
- 36:59Speaker 1: is so fucked The abuse in the movie almost has
- 37:05Speaker 1: the same vibe as the alleged abuse on set, where
- 37:10Speaker 1: like one of them is like, I'm just the guy
- 37:13Speaker 1: who's reacting to my environment, and then like a woman
- 37:19Speaker 1: isn't going to show her public face about this, so
- 37:22Speaker 1: she's instead just gonna email people a bunch of action
- 37:25Speaker 1: lawsuit actions. She's like, it's like it's the same kind
- 37:31Speaker 1: of like icky thing, and now the world split on it. Yeah,
- 37:37Speaker 1: And as you know, Chris, I don't know if you know,
- 37:41Speaker 1: you've been on three times, but I run a feminist
- 37:43Speaker 1: podcast and we pride ourselves on the intersectional feminist here
- 37:48Speaker 1: onto all the men I've tolerated before. And did I
- 37:53Speaker 1: want racist Blake Lively to be the reason I ever
- 37:58Speaker 1: got to talk about like work harassment in Hollywood. No,
- 38:02Speaker 1: she's a racist, But okay, so now we can do
- 38:05Speaker 1: my insane calculation that I made this is why this
- 38:10Speaker 1: all happened, So it says, this is why I can
- 38:14Speaker 1: believe that Blake is an asshole who also experienced being
- 38:17Speaker 1: harassed by another asshole. Yes, so white supremacy created the
- 38:23Speaker 1: privilege that Blake and Ryan thrive under. They are literally
- 38:27Speaker 1: the poster children for the white racist experience. White supremacy
- 38:34Speaker 1: also created the misogyny that allows Justin to take the
- 38:37Speaker 1: suffering of women inflicted by men and build a brand
- 38:41Speaker 1: off of it by being the better guy, just making
- 38:44Speaker 1: money hand over foot by me and like, but I'm
- 38:46Speaker 1: above it. So therefore white supremacy on top of white
- 38:50Speaker 1: supremacy turned into twisters, and we got this cluster buck
- 38:55Speaker 1: because they're both two very privileged people being like, well
- 38:59Speaker 1: I get to do this. Well, I get to do this,
- 39:01Speaker 1: and I get to do this, and I'm a misogynist.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Well, and here's the other thing. Is like, if Justin
- 39:07Speaker 2: was this feminist icon that he says that he is,
- 39:09Speaker 2: he would have read this book and been like, what
- 39:11Speaker 2: the fuck is this not? I need to option this
- 39:15Speaker 2: so I can make it a film and be ryle
- 39:18Speaker 2: yeah and be in it the star. Like if he
- 39:22Speaker 2: really was like I'm a feminist and like I need
- 39:24Speaker 2: to like I'm like up trying to uplift women, Like
- 39:26Speaker 2: this book is not it.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Right, no and again, and this is how like the
- 39:31Speaker 1: book mirrors the abuse on set before Ryle and uh
- 39:36Speaker 1: Lily Blessom Bloom have that we're naked but we're not
- 39:40Speaker 1: touching seeing.
- 39:41Speaker 2: My favorite scene in the home.
- 39:44Speaker 1: The entire movie is him going but you like me
- 39:48Speaker 1: and her going I haven't figured that out yet, and
- 39:50Speaker 1: him going but you liked me and her being like
- 39:53Speaker 1: hmm okay, and he's like, but we're friends because you
- 39:56Speaker 1: like me. And what's justin Boloney's defend for I Abuse Blake.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Here are all the text message where she was nice.
- 40:05Speaker 2: To be so true though, oh my god, that's like
- 40:08Speaker 2: really bad.
- 40:09Speaker 1: I know. Come, I'll come on for one of the
- 40:12Speaker 1: serial episodes.
- 40:14Speaker 2: You might have to because the time that is like.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Really real, that's really real, because you're sorry.
- 40:20Speaker 2: He's like, no, we're friends, like she was. She p
- 40:23Speaker 2: has that text that's like, I'm just in my trailer
- 40:25Speaker 2: like milking or whatever, pumping, milking, milking you. I'm disgusting, milky, milky.
- 40:35Speaker 2: I'm sorry to everyone. I'm just pumping in my trailer
- 40:41Speaker 2: like that is absolutely not an invitation for him to
- 40:44Speaker 2: come into her trailer.
- 40:44Speaker 1: Heay, please don't chat with me. Please don't like.
- 40:47Speaker 2: She's saying, like, I'm just like doing this menial task
- 40:50Speaker 2: that I can set aside, like to come.
- 40:52Speaker 1: Meet you somewhere, and he made it and he.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Was like, no, look at this text, or she invites
- 40:56Speaker 2: me in her trailer. I'm like, I'm not reading her
- 40:58Speaker 2: inviting you anywhere. I'm reading her. I am not busy
- 41:01Speaker 2: so I can meet you somewhere to do this.
- 41:03Speaker 1: No. Yeah, so yeah, And you know I hate nothing
- 41:08Speaker 1: more than like every guy's defense of but I thought
- 41:12Speaker 1: you liked me.
- 41:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hence why I beat you in the
- 41:15Speaker 2: face and push you down right.
- 41:17Speaker 1: We've built a million in cells off of it.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Which is why I'm like watching you breasted your kid
- 41:22Speaker 2: and are showing you a video of my wife giving
- 41:24Speaker 2: birth naked.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Because like, here's the fucked up reason in my head
- 41:27Speaker 1: that I think that we never like move past the
- 41:32Speaker 1: blake and justin dynamic because we all experience it at
- 41:35Speaker 1: some point in our life. It is because women have
- 41:41Speaker 1: been conditioned to fond to men that we just want
- 41:44Speaker 1: to leave, Like if I smile enough, if I don't move,
- 41:49Speaker 1: if I go, You're right, we are friends. I like you.
- 41:52Speaker 1: He'll get bored he'll get distracted and he'll leave, and
- 41:55Speaker 1: then I'm safe. And then men have never been conditioned
- 41:59Speaker 1: to believe that they're unlikable.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, no agree.
- 42:03Speaker 1: So Justin's just walking through set me like, and she
- 42:06Speaker 1: likes me and we're the best of friends, and they're
- 42:07Speaker 1: gonna name their next kid after me. And I'm gonna
- 42:10Speaker 1: go watch her breastfeed right now and have my friend
- 42:14Speaker 1: look at her coutor.
- 42:17Speaker 2: I think that they he thought that's what it was
- 42:19Speaker 2: gonna be. But every person that I've spoken to about
- 42:22Speaker 2: her on set says that she is a monster, So
- 42:25Speaker 2: I don't I think that he thinks that that's what
- 42:27Speaker 2: it was gonna be. And then she was like, no,
- 42:29Speaker 2: I'll just be here by myself, not with you, and
- 42:32Speaker 2: I think he was like heartbroken.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And then he snapped yeah, and because of the ego
- 42:36Speaker 1: of it all. And I will say that like him
- 42:39Speaker 1: getting to hold onto the shred of I think she
- 42:41Speaker 1: liked me all along is like a double down on
- 42:44Speaker 1: the delusion because then men love to be like, she's
- 42:48Speaker 1: just so sarcastic and funny. That's why she's telling me
- 42:52Speaker 1: to fuck off and die. Yeah, that's so funny. Blake
- 42:58Speaker 1: and it's like, no, I literally I told you to
- 43:00Speaker 1: talk up and die because I wish you would. Yeah, yes,
- 43:04Speaker 1: but what if I'm a little romp we had in
- 43:06Speaker 1: the middle of everyone's workday. It's like it's ridiculous, ridiculous,
- 43:13Speaker 1: and like, here's the thing. My friend laid it out
- 43:17Speaker 1: in a text message to me when we were like,
- 43:19Speaker 1: oh god, how do we even navigate this because we've
- 43:21Speaker 1: got plantation king and queen over here being like women
- 43:26Speaker 1: don't deserve to be harassed at work, and I'm like,
- 43:28Speaker 1: I do believe that. Why did you get married on
- 43:32Speaker 1: a plantation so I could back you in that? And
- 43:36Speaker 1: then we have a man and we know I'm never
- 43:38Speaker 1: going to take his side because of my own prejudice
- 43:42Speaker 1: against men, and technically he's the ally king, and literally, women,
- 43:52Speaker 1: I guess a lot of women were listening to the
- 43:54Speaker 1: man in a podcasts and holding out home. I think that,
- 43:59Speaker 1: like straight women really thought, like, look, there is a
- 44:01Speaker 1: good one and if Justin can be an ally, my
- 44:04Speaker 1: husband too will stop treating me like trash, Like I like,
- 44:08Speaker 1: you know, like we get so bocked down with it,
- 44:10Speaker 1: like like a shred of hope, shred of hope. Mine's
- 44:13Speaker 1: Dave Bautista with the pippoles like I love him. If
- 44:18Speaker 1: Dave Bautista hugged me, it would heal me. All of
- 44:21Speaker 1: my issues would be gone. But so like I think
- 44:24Speaker 1: a lot of people like we love to make a
- 44:29Speaker 1: woman a hero and then throw her right in the trash.
- 44:31Speaker 1: And we see it all the time, Beyonce, Taylor, Swift,
- 44:34Speaker 1: all of them.
- 44:35Speaker 2: Sure, Brittany, Brittany.
- 44:38Speaker 1: We love to put a man on a pedestal for nothing.
- 44:42Speaker 1: He started a podcast. We love to put him on
- 44:46Speaker 1: a pedestal for nothing. And then when someone goes, he
- 44:49Speaker 1: pushed me down the stairs, we go, no, he did it.
- 44:53Speaker 1: He's our one good one. That's why we put him there.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Well, one of my notes is every seas that has
- 45:00Speaker 2: to do with domestic violence turns into Justin Baldoni's star
- 45:02Speaker 2: turn scene like his acting. And then the next note
- 45:06Speaker 2: is every scene turns into the most serious scene like
- 45:09Speaker 2: it his he It's there's so much acting with the
- 45:12Speaker 2: capital A in the worst way, like it's like so
- 45:15Speaker 2: much acting and it's like again like oh, right in
- 45:17Speaker 2: this moment where it's supposed to be like domestic like
- 45:20Speaker 2: we're supposed to be like uncovering that he's like an abuser.
- 45:22Speaker 2: He's it's like him like doing his like best work
- 45:25Speaker 2: that he thinks he's doing, do you know what I mean?
- 45:27Speaker 2: And trying to be like and again like stealing every
- 45:29Speaker 2: scene away from the main character.
- 45:32Speaker 1: And that's how and that's how you know he's a
- 45:33Speaker 1: fucking creep because he's getting off on getting to be Rile,
- 45:37Speaker 1: Like I'm gonna be Rile and I'm gonna do it
- 45:40Speaker 1: justice and he will be everyone's number one bad guy.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Like yes, the only scene that I really liked was
- 45:47Speaker 2: whenever he brings that magazine home and is like read it,
- 45:49Speaker 2: like read it now like that, I was like scared
- 45:52Speaker 2: and it was like, oh no, like she's gonna get it,
- 45:54Speaker 2: like uh oh, you know what I mean. Like I
- 45:56Speaker 2: was like she's done for like a run, run, you
- 45:58Speaker 2: know what I mean. Like that part was like very
- 46:00Speaker 2: well done and I felt very real when.
- 46:03Speaker 1: Blake wrote it.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Blake write in and like I think that, like I
- 46:11Speaker 2: don't know. The movie was just so bad.
- 46:13Speaker 1: Can I tell you something funny that happened today because
- 46:16Speaker 1: my sister tried to watch the Morning Show on Apple TV.
- 46:19Speaker 2: Oh brother, okay, and so my sister knows.
- 46:23Speaker 1: I try to watch the Bordage Show on Apple TV,
- 46:26Speaker 1: and I couldn't get through the first episode. That show's
- 46:28Speaker 1: so bad. I go, have you not heard that that's
- 46:31Speaker 1: the worst show in existence?
- 46:34Speaker 2: Have I watched every single episode of it? Guilty as Charged?
- 46:37Speaker 1: And then she texted me, I literally can't tell what
- 46:41Speaker 1: side of me too, each woman is on. But I
- 46:45Speaker 1: think it's correct, but I think it's the wrong side.
- 46:48Speaker 1: And I texted back, just like Blake Lively, Yes, yes,
- 46:53Speaker 1: when life imitates art, Because here's the thing. If Blake
- 46:56Speaker 1: Lively has filed all of these lawsuits or whatever you
- 47:00Speaker 1: call them, I didn't pay attention to a lot of
- 47:02Speaker 1: the pequal jar. I'm but a girl. But if she
- 47:06Speaker 1: files all of this bullshit, and I get and I
- 47:10Speaker 1: hate using it as a verb, but it's the last
- 47:12Speaker 1: time we were in this position, and I get fucking
- 47:14Speaker 1: amber hearded again where a woman was finally standing up
- 47:19Speaker 1: for something that we've all experienced and all done, and
- 47:21Speaker 1: she was in a position of power where she could
- 47:24Speaker 1: do it, and then everyone went finding such a standoo guy,
- 47:28Speaker 1: though never not one day and then and then it's
- 47:36Speaker 1: and then it's all for not because it all gets
- 47:39Speaker 1: torn down and we have you, and I have personal
- 47:41Speaker 1: friends who are still affected by the Amber Herd thing,
- 47:46Speaker 1: who had real life consequences. So what I'm worrying is
- 47:50Speaker 1: is that, like ants, I wish I had saved the article.
- 47:54Speaker 1: It was on my feed when we were still allowed
- 47:56Speaker 1: to peruse meta and it be about women. There was
- 48:02Speaker 1: an article that was like, Blake Lively just killed me too,
- 48:06Speaker 1: because it's like, so she comes out with it, and
- 48:10Speaker 1: instead of the public being like, that's right, girl, we're
- 48:14Speaker 1: on it, people are like, you're too fucking pretty and
- 48:17Speaker 1: rich to ever like have anything bad happened to you.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Stop bitching, and it's and we're now all in this
- 48:23Speaker 1: very toxic cycle and I can't, like I literally can't
- 48:28Speaker 1: go through it again. Like I need, I honestly need
- 48:31Speaker 1: him to lose, whether or not it's all true, and
- 48:34Speaker 1: that's bad and not justice.
- 48:37Speaker 2: Yeah no, And I think her the most damning part
- 48:41Speaker 2: on her end is that like she then wretched control
- 48:46Speaker 2: of the movie away from him.
- 48:49Speaker 1: Right, which honestly, I'm a petty bitch and I've.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Probably would have been incredible, but it's like, you know
- 48:56Speaker 2: what I mean, professional, it's not profession and it's not
- 49:00Speaker 2: this industry standard and so it's like very much her
- 49:04Speaker 2: overstepping all of that stuff. And so it like that's
- 49:08Speaker 2: the thing, is that, like she doesn't stand up for
- 49:13Speaker 2: herself until it's like way after does that make sense?
- 49:18Speaker 2: Like and I'm I'm like so cautiously bringing this to
- 49:22Speaker 2: the stage because I know where I am right now,
- 49:25Speaker 2: but like to me and again, like every like, she
- 49:28Speaker 2: can do whatever she wants to do and it's not
- 49:30Speaker 2: on her too. I just think that because of the
- 49:36Speaker 2: immense power that she wields, she has a responsibility to
- 49:41Speaker 2: wield it correctly, and she did not.
- 49:43Speaker 1: You know, I must be so dumb. And that's why
- 49:46Speaker 1: I thought Blake Lively was a good actress when we
- 49:48Speaker 1: were younger, because I literally can't wrap my head around
- 49:53Speaker 1: that everyone thinks that Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are
- 49:56Speaker 1: so powerful. I'm like, it's like when the government keeps
- 50:00Speaker 1: trying to tell us that China's bad and TikTok's bad,
- 50:03Speaker 1: and then I text people, how often am I supposed
- 50:05Speaker 1: to be thinking about China? Because I don't. It's the
- 50:09Speaker 1: same with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. I'm like Ryan
- 50:11Speaker 1: Reynolds berly in movies Blake Lively never in a good one.
- 50:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:16Speaker 1: I understand that they're a hot couple with a lot
- 50:18Speaker 1: of money and then they use that money poorly and
- 50:21Speaker 1: they do a lot of bullshitty white people things, but
- 50:25Speaker 1: to call them powerful is like one step too many
- 50:28Speaker 1: for them, where I'm like, well, who's taking those two
- 50:32Speaker 1: idiots seriously?
- 50:33Speaker 2: Well, I will say that like he did like completely
- 50:37Speaker 2: get control of Deadpool? Well, like do you know what
- 50:40Speaker 2: I mean? Like this has happened before, like she's taken
- 50:43Speaker 2: a page out of his book, but not like during
- 50:45Speaker 2: the movie being made Yea, So it's like he did,
- 50:49Speaker 2: I understand what you're saying, and you are right. However,
- 50:51Speaker 2: they do they do wield something.
- 50:52Speaker 1: See, it's that fucking Marvel. I wish Marvel would die
- 50:55Speaker 1: because we're still we keep getting idiots with power like
- 50:59Speaker 1: Chris Crawt, and I'm like, let it die.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Yeah. Well but that's and that is really the thing
- 51:05Speaker 2: is like I believe everything that she says about like
- 51:09Speaker 2: him being gross to her and all these weird things
- 51:11Speaker 2: that happen on set one hundred million percent. But then
- 51:14Speaker 2: it's like instead of her being like, hey, like that's
- 51:17Speaker 2: not okay, she instead like does something shitty back to him,
- 51:20Speaker 2: which I'm like, Okay, that's not good either. No, do
- 51:24Speaker 2: you know what I mean? It's like that doesn't that
- 51:25Speaker 2: doesn't help your case at all.
- 51:27Speaker 1: No, But is it my dream? Ye, it's my dream
- 51:32Speaker 1: to just like sore all the bad things that someone
- 51:35Speaker 1: has done and then hand them to Vulture after not
- 51:38Speaker 1: having one conversation with you about Boutries.
- 51:41Speaker 2: And I think the other thing that I will remind
- 51:43Speaker 2: you is that she does say when she's on set,
- 51:48Speaker 2: there should be an intimacy coordinator. Whenever she's on set,
- 51:51Speaker 2: there should be this thing, not like there needs this
- 51:53Speaker 2: needs to happen in the movie for everyone. Yeah.
- 51:56Speaker 1: Well yeah, because she is a selfish white lady.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Like that's the other part is said. It was like
- 52:00Speaker 2: everyone is like desperate to go back to work and
- 52:02Speaker 2: keep earning money, and she was gonna hold up the
- 52:04Speaker 2: entire production until he she like used the strike against
- 52:08Speaker 2: Justin to get her way, which I which good on her,
- 52:11Speaker 2: but like the hardworking people were like suffering because.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Well, because she's she's the mean girl at school, So
- 52:19Speaker 1: like the mean girl at school will be like I
- 52:22Speaker 1: have to be safe, but don't worry. Jenny slate. You're
- 52:26Speaker 1: not pretty enough to be her rest.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm like, actually.
- 52:33Speaker 1: We know her, we grew up with her, We've written
- 52:36Speaker 1: scripts about her, Like, literally, that's her attitude. Of course,
- 52:40Speaker 1: the intimacy coordinator would only need to be here for me.
- 52:44Speaker 1: I am the commodity trophy here.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Yeah, did you see me in my seat through underwear? Yeah?
- 52:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that bad man's gonna touch me in a way
- 52:53Speaker 1: I don't like. But he'd never do it to Jenny
- 52:55Speaker 1: because she's not pretty enough. Yeah, like really though, no, really,
- 53:00Speaker 1: that's I'm I'm sure that is her wretched, putrid vibe. Yeah,
- 53:05Speaker 1: And yet you won't catch me taking Boloney's side because
- 53:10Speaker 1: I can't. No, I can't stand that he's building a
- 53:13Speaker 1: career out of being like I'm man enough to be
- 53:17Speaker 1: good to women.
- 53:18Speaker 2: And like, after watching this movie again and like actually
- 53:20Speaker 2: paying attention to it, which I did not do when
- 53:22Speaker 2: I was drunk on a flight the first time I
- 53:23Speaker 2: watched it, like, I was like even more enraged, and
- 53:26Speaker 2: I was like, oh, you are such a sham in
- 53:28Speaker 2: every single way, because no person that is remotely knows
- 53:31Speaker 2: what femininem, knows what feminism even is, or is friends
- 53:35Speaker 2: with a woman would ever like watch this and be like, yes,
- 53:39Speaker 2: this is totally tackling like domestic violence, and like we're
- 53:42Speaker 2: like like, you know, we done me. You know time
- 53:45Speaker 2: is up. You know what I mean? Like not one
- 53:47Speaker 2: person would say.
- 53:48Speaker 1: That, yeah so and again, Hey, maybe we all could
- 53:53Speaker 1: have flown under the radar about this movie. Like, bad
- 53:55Speaker 1: movies get made all the time.
- 53:58Speaker 2: And the only reason the movie is so successful is
- 53:59Speaker 2: because as we all watched it, because of the drama. Right,
- 54:02Speaker 2: it's a terrible movie.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Like my dad keeps trying to call or get me
- 54:07Speaker 1: to watch what my sister calls quote unquote Oil Yellowstone,
- 54:12Speaker 1: which is Billy Bob Thornton's Landman show. Brother.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I like, I saw the previews for that. How was that?
- 54:18Speaker 1: Oh? I didn't watch it. I went downstairs to like
- 54:22Speaker 1: get a snap, And in the two minutes that I
- 54:24Speaker 1: was downstairs, I heard Billy Bob Thornton sexually harassed a woman,
- 54:30Speaker 1: be transphobic, and use a slur, like a racist slur,
- 54:34Speaker 1: and I was like, I will go upstairs.
- 54:35Speaker 2: Yeah, like this is just too much for me.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Stop telling me the show is good.
- 54:40Speaker 2: Yeah, no, yeah, Do you feel.
- 54:42Speaker 1: In a good place to move to the closing out?
- 54:45Speaker 2: Yes?
- 54:46Speaker 1: Okay, what should we have lears.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Wait, I'm so sorry. No, I'm not. The clothing in
- 54:50Speaker 2: this movie alone was.
- 54:53Speaker 1: And it's clothing. And I'm like, you had good outfits.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Made them buy you stuff? Oh like when she had those,
- 55:03Speaker 2: which she probably kept. Like when she goes to the
- 55:06Speaker 2: flower shop, she has that really nice Valentino bag with
- 55:09Speaker 2: the vs everywhere. Uh huh, that's like that new canvas
- 55:12Speaker 2: bag that like is probably like a seven thousand dollars bag,
- 55:16Speaker 2: do you know what I mean? And she has those
- 55:18Speaker 2: like lubatons that had the heel on them that like
- 55:20Speaker 2: are in like a like a like a shot like
- 55:23Speaker 2: she was making them buy her all but and all
- 55:24Speaker 2: Jenny Jenny Slates wearing Valentino the entire movie, and they're
- 55:28Speaker 2: number one.
- 55:29Speaker 1: I still don't know what Jenny Slate's job is.
- 55:31Speaker 2: She what's to work at the flower shops?
- 55:33Speaker 1: Oh, that's right, she got a part cash She's a
- 55:35Speaker 1: cashier because she's bored.
- 55:37Speaker 2: Yes, because she's rich and bored.
- 55:39Speaker 1: She owns a flower shop that we never watched one
- 55:42Speaker 1: person walk into.
- 55:43Speaker 2: No, only the only the other characters in the show.
- 55:47Speaker 1: And then he's a neurosurgeon, so so.
- 55:49Speaker 2: He's texting her and is like, please let me come
- 55:51Speaker 2: see you. It's like, you know where she is. She
- 55:53Speaker 2: has a business, Like like where else would she be
- 55:56Speaker 2: from the hours of eleven am to four pm then
- 55:58Speaker 2: other than her her flow.
- 56:00Speaker 1: But that like pisses me off again because he's like, look,
- 56:02Speaker 1: how respectful I'm being. I'm not showing up at your
- 56:05Speaker 1: flower shop to yell at you your empty flower shop.
- 56:11Speaker 1: I don't even do we see flowers of the flower shop?
- 56:14Speaker 2: Do well again? We will again, we will walk by it.
- 56:18Speaker 1: I'm we I'm wearing eighteen layers and.
- 56:21Speaker 2: I know that. Please not that the flower shop. When
- 56:23Speaker 2: when I tell you, okay, imagine if I live on
- 56:25Speaker 2: like how do I say this to not like say
- 56:27Speaker 2: my real address, Like if I live on like tenth
- 56:31Speaker 2: Street and Avenue B. This this flower shop is on
- 56:41Speaker 2: eighth Street and Avenue C.
- 56:43Speaker 1: How did you not watch this movie? Being film? I
- 56:46Speaker 1: don't know, Like that's so surreal to be watching a
- 56:50Speaker 1: movie and me like this and that's.
- 56:52Speaker 2: My that's my block. Like that there is a super
- 56:57Speaker 2: U Forrester that's in the background of the shop that
- 57:00Speaker 2: like she's walking down and I was like.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Is that my car?
- 57:06Speaker 2: And it wasn't because I would never be parking my
- 57:08Speaker 2: car there because it would just like I wouldn't have
- 57:11Speaker 2: my car parked because I parked in the garage, So
- 57:13Speaker 2: it's like it wouldn't be on the street there. But
- 57:14Speaker 2: I was like, is that my car? Like it could be.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Well, the clothing was terrible, and.
- 57:21Speaker 2: The clothing was like, oh I'm making It was such
- 57:24Speaker 2: amateur hour the whole time, like it's like, oh, I'm
- 57:26Speaker 2: making a movie, so I'm gonna have this like weird.
- 57:29Speaker 2: Like again, they're not just wearing like I'm wearing right
- 57:31Speaker 2: now a Haines gray zip up hoodie. Like instead of that,
- 57:34Speaker 2: he's wearing like the guy like what's his name, Ryle
- 57:36Speaker 2: is wearing like this like Hollister esque. Remember when we
- 57:40Speaker 2: used to wear like the Hollister hoodies that were like
- 57:41Speaker 2: destroyed on purpose. He's like wearing one of those that's
- 57:44Speaker 2: probably from like some fancy designer. It's probably like a
- 57:47Speaker 2: Mesquino hoodie. And it's like, oh, it's weird and cool
- 57:51Speaker 2: and different. It's like he could just be wearing a
- 57:53Speaker 2: gray hoodie, do you know what I mean? But instead
- 57:55Speaker 2: it has to be this like oh, every single thing
- 57:57Speaker 2: is like every person's wearing like an outfit two to
- 58:02Speaker 2: ten at every time, at all times, and I'm like,
- 58:06Speaker 2: or just.
- 58:06Speaker 1: Wear a T shirt like and like and you know,
- 58:09Speaker 1: like one of the things that like pisses off my
- 58:12Speaker 1: Capricorn brain is like, if you're going to write a book,
- 58:14Speaker 1: why wy don't you write a book? Well, if you
- 58:16Speaker 1: were going to make a movie, why wouldn't you make
- 58:17Speaker 1: a movie? Well, because like.
- 58:20Speaker 2: They thought that they were, he thought that he was.
- 58:22Speaker 2: That's the problem.
- 58:23Speaker 1: Okay, Well, bloney, I have news for you. Bodies Bodies Bodies, better,
- 58:28Speaker 1: better movie. Oh my god, better wardrobe too. In Bodies
- 58:34Speaker 1: Bodies Bodies.
- 58:35Speaker 2: I mean, it just was so bad everything about it again,
- 58:37Speaker 2: like every decision that they made was the wrong decision.
- 58:40Speaker 1: Because you know what I'm saying, Like, I watch bad movies.
- 58:42Speaker 1: I love bad movies. I want a med movie to
- 58:45Speaker 1: come out every year, every.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Single I like knows what it is this thought that
- 58:49Speaker 2: it was like an Oscar.
- 58:50Speaker 1: Contender and the Meg movie at least goes the extra
- 58:54Speaker 1: mile to make up fake science and then explain the
- 58:57Speaker 1: fake science to me, Like Twisters not an Oscar movie,
- 59:04Speaker 1: but a beautifully crafted story that also was about climate
- 59:07Speaker 1: change at the end of the day. Yeah, we could
- 59:11Speaker 1: have done it. We've done it with less. But it
- 59:14Speaker 1: was a very student film.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Ass Yeah, it was student film again, I said. She
- 59:19Speaker 2: walked onto that seat and it was amateur hour and
- 59:21Speaker 2: she was like, what the fuck did I just get
- 59:22Speaker 2: myself into?
- 59:24Speaker 1: And you're right too. Again, everyone gives Chris enough money
- 59:27Speaker 1: to get on the page around too, Like I say,
- 59:30Speaker 1: for dollars, I was like, it's five dollars, right, I
- 59:33Speaker 1: don't even know how much it is?
- 59:34Speaker 2: Is five for that?
- 59:36Speaker 1: Here it's five because like literally it's Court TV. Judge
- 59:42Speaker 1: Judy is going to be bang in a gabble at
- 59:44Speaker 1: some point. Yes, uh, what is our lesson from you
- 59:49Speaker 1: making me watch it? Ends with us?
- 59:51Speaker 2: Oh god, what is our lesson?
- 59:54Speaker 1: Don't believe men?
- 59:58Speaker 2: Our lesson is like, yeah, don't believe men one and two, Like, like,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: I'm upset that all of the drama has overshadowed the
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: fact that this is like a harmful film.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: Yeah, it's harmful.
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: It actually is a harmful film.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: People left up trigger. Also, it's held us in a
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: choke hold for a year, so we're just like everyone's
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: just reliving their trauma because neither one of them can
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: shut up.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: I yeah.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: Also, Netflix made me pay extra to watch it.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Remember I told you that when I first tried to
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: watch it ends with us. I'm poor, So I have
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: the Netflix with ads and I went to click on
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: the movie and Netflix that and I quote mainly, poor
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: people don't get to watch this movie. You have to
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: be on an AD free plant.
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: So I had to pay extra to watch it.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: Horrible, horrible.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: I And I think that, like maybe that's the lesson too,
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: is like, if you're gonna take on a story that's
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: gonna affect a lot of people, maybe you put as
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: much care into it as Leimniesen did Schindler's List, Like
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: you know, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: Like, but also too, it's like where are there like
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: domestic violence survivors that are like consultants on the movie?
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: Do you know what I mean? It's like we.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Don't have to be said that he worked with them
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: or he just he's like I just know how that feels.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: They're like yeah, like oh god, and the fact that
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: he was out there on the red carpet saying like
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: we're here to like change lives and like teach people
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: about domestic violence, and it's like no, like you say that,
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: like he like you let him be in the delivery
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: room with you when you have his child, and like
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: and I'm sorry to say, like you should have borne it?
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: Like who right? Am I wrong? Though? But am I wrong?
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Like you should have aborted his child?
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: I don't want it's yeah, it's like you have to again,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: if you're going to do it, do it well or else.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: I'm man. Yeah, Like.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: I can't wait to bring you to every single place
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: that they're in in that movie.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: I know, for Hassan, I have to take my photoa
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: and you and I reinacting saints when we're.
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: Like pushing up each other up against the wall during
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: that in that bathroom and again I'm sure that there's
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: like a hole in the wall from so many people
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: doing it.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: One I have a giant heart.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: Like we're gonna get there and sit and be like
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: get at that sit at that exacting table, and you're
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: gonna have that heart on your like like your deco latage,
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: and the server is gonna come over and be like,
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: oh you know what I mean, so annoyed and.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna be like, I'm sorry, are you annoyed because
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: I'm here with my new abusive husband and you missed me,
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: and he's gonna and we'll tip him really well for
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: the for the bread.
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Like Okay, I know we're done, but like why why
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: would why was the why did the brother need to
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: be dead?
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Because because Chris, I don't know if you know this,
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: but every abuser has to have a catalyt catalyst.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: But like he's mad that his brother's dadded his hand,
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: like he's upset and that means.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: He's a murderer. He told her that whole story and
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: she's like, I can't imagine being the other little boy,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: and he goes it fucked him up for life, and
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: I was like, that's when you should have picked up
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: that it was him. He was the little boy.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Yeah, oh god. Again, like so many scenes about that
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: and like I again the scene with you Jenny's like
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: calling him across the hallway to like have dinner, where
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: she like brads him like that, that's a better scene.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: That's a better scene.
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: Definitely a better scene than that weird like montage on
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: that roof where then they like she like mounts him,
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: which again again I'm on her side of like she's
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: like why am I doing this? Like why am I
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: spreading my legs open and jumping on top of you
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: right now?
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Like why did you show me the home video of
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: your cousin giving birth?
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: I don't understand, Okay, I need you to think about
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: the fact that they like what would you have done
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: if she was completely naked whenever in that giving birth seat?
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: What would I have done?
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: That's what he wanted her to do.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: I would, oh if I was watching it or if
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: I was on set.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: Now, if she was. If you watched this movie and
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: then she goes to push the baby out and you
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: see her nipples, I don't know, what would you do?
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: I literally don't know if our friendship would have survived it.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Have you seen Nosparatu yet?
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: No?
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Okay, are you going to probably not let me do it?
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: So Emma Corbin Corbett from The Crown is in Nosparatu.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: Sure I like her? Yeah?
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: I can't remember if Emma is using them pronouns I
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: knew that they used to. Emma is playing a woman
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: who is the Nosparatu's victim's best friend. Nosfaratu kills her
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: via the rat plague, so she's being you like the
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: other girl wakes up and she's being eaten by plague
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: rats and I didn't clock it, but thank god my
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: sister did because two days later I get a text
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: message from my sister. She goes, you know, I was
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: fucking thinking about Nosferatu and film bros. And you can
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: tell that that movie was directed by a man, because
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: why the fuck was her left titty out while she
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: was being eaten by rats? Like was that necessary at all?
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: She just like full nip out. She's by rats and
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: her and her titties out. And I was like, because
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: mon are.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Terrible, Like you didn't need to do Like again didn't.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: So if he had done that, I would have texted you.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: And I was like episode of I don't know.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: No, and also like again like we would all be
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: like what is happening? Like have you ever seen a
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: even if it's true that women give birth naked? Which
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I don't think that it is, like like maybe sure
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: that even if that's true, Like have you ever seen
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: it in a movie and or TV show? I have not.
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: I watched every sister while give birth in a bathtub
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: and no one got naked.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Yeah, like they.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Get a special they get a special bathing suit. No
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: one gets naked for their water birth? Why would you
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: get naked for the laying on the bed bird?
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: That's that's the part.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: It's like, as much as I think that she's an
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: absolute monster in every single way, like I'm like, but
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: she is right, Like why would like like he was
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: trying to like look at her tits whileever they did
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: this like scene, you know what I mean.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: God, here's my manifestation. I really hope that a year
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: from now, when let's hope the Cereal series is over
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: and we've moved.
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: On, if only every single day it's making it longer
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: and longer for.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: Us, that at the end of this there isn't more
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: a readable like harm done that's now written down that
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: all judges have to follow from now on. Yeah, like,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: because that's what happened, and I don't like it. So
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: I hope that there's no more harm done legally and
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: that Blake's lawyers win, because if Blake's lawyers don't win,
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: there are a hell of a lot more consequences for
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: a hell of a lot more of us. And as
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: we've learned, and I would like to manifest that because
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: of all of this, well, Colleen Hoover did announce on TikTok.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: I think that she's giving up writing. She should and
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: she should. We are getting that Anne Hathaway movie that
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: is apparently her best book. But I hope we never
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: get the sequel to it ends with us, even though
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: I would like to see that at this man in
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: a more front facing role.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: That's like. The other thing is like a lot of
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: people are saying like, oh, they're like fighting over the
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: rights to the sequel, and I'm like, the sequel to what? Well?
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: Because to say in this story.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Because here's the thing another Twilight, Hunger Games, Harry Potter, bullshit.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: What they all.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: Trained authors to do was why would make one book
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: when you can make three? Because why I make one
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: movie when you can make three? So he buys the
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: rights to this book, thinking and then I get two
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: more hit movies and oscars out of this.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: Yeah, no, trurely two more oscars as well.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, And god, and just like the Divergent movie series,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: it was just too bad for me to want to
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: look at the sequel.
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: My god, why did I I feel like I watched
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: all of those and like, as a joke, it was great,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: but I did love what's the same The.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: Hot guy that's with THEO James who's in white Lotus. Chris,
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: do you have a manifestation.
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: I want I want this to I don't know what
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: I want, my fan, I don't know what my manifestation is.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: I want men to stop being gross. Yeah, just I
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: want there to I know this, I found it. Okay,
- 1:08:51Speaker 2: this is it. I want people that are acting in
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: movies to not direct them as well.
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: Yes, you are so right.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Okay. Every single thing and in her world that she
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: was upset about would have been combated if he was
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: not the director and the star. Correct, because then there's
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: three people in the dance together, not him being the
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: director and then also being on her.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: And this is how I feel compelled to do it,
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: and this is how I want the scene to play out.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Another person that then says no, no, no, Well, like
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: that looks weird, So why don't you do this? You
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: know what I mean? Like all this could be avoided,
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: all of it, but instead he had to direct everything.
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Who does he think he is?
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: Who does he think he is himself? Oh? I'm running?
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Never ps, never forget that we were like at the
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Academy Museum the day that Maestro is like having its
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: premiere on the rooftop. I know, like they were setting
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: up the red carpet and like we were like leaving
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: there and like people were going to start showing up soon.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: Every time dovin it goes, I own the money, I
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: like kissed the stuy.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, her of us, But we were there.
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: We were there. Bradley Cooper probably saw me and was like,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: that looks like a fun gal. She looks, Yeah, Chris,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: you know our friendship survived this, and I'm just really
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: proud of us. I'm gonna come and visit and we're
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: gonna go to the flower shop. I am gonna buy.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna buy and press those flowers.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: It's not I mean it is nothing so you can't
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: actually but it's not a real flower shop.
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: Just oh damn.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: It was a yoga studio. And then it turned into
- 1:10:37Speaker 2: just like they have all these different film sets there,
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: but the building that you see in the background of
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: it one of them when she's walking up the one time,
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: is a really good brunch place that will have brunch
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: and we can just like look at as we're at brunch,
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: we can like look over and see it, and then
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: we'll go down to Jersey city and walk where they're
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: like walking when he's like, let's date and she's like maybe,
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: and we're reenacting it protect and we'll reenact that and
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: then we'll go to dinner at the place where where
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: at root quote unquote roots where you have your.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Heart, where I have a djojo sewell size like literally, well, Chris,
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: make sure everyone knows where uh they can find you
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: in case people have.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Forgotten, wait, can we really quickly? I will do that,
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: but never forget. Also, whenever in the movie Whenever, she's
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: like my mom's coming to visit and he's like, okay,
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: like can I meet her? And she's like what grows?
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: And I was like, what, like made no sex at all?
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: Anyway you can find you can find me at the
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: Christa Roza. You can find my show at Fixing Famous.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: People, and you can find us at Man. I've tolerated
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: pod on Instagram and K one two four on a
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: bunch of socials like Instagram and TikTok and the Blue One.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: And remember out there, tolerators, you don't have to file
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: through anything you're tolerating, including a movie that's really trying
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: to be something, but at the end of it at
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: all it's just a whisper of what could have been
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: a movie. Smiles are for joy,
